Tim I noticed a lot of indigenous patches on your jacket, are you Native?
Idk what my dad was 'cause I never knew him, but yeah my mom is (or... Was.. I guess..) Muscogee, the tribe native to the part of Alabama I'm in.
If I remember correctly she came to Alabama from Oklahoma (where a lot of Natives were displaced to in the 1800s) to "get back to her roots."
But yknow, I was separated from her in childhood (which tbh is upsettingly common for Native families) and I was raised in a very white very Catholic asylum so I'm not as connected to the culture as I'd like to be.

#OOC: Olea speaking#this is kind of a self-indulgent headcanon but HEAR ME OUT it adds a lot to Tim's character specifically#we're talking about a character who was separated from his mom in childhood and locked up in a psych ward#suffers from chronic physical and mental illness made significantly worse by the institution that was supposed to be helping him#forced to regulate his emotions more than other people have to so he isnt misinterpreted as a threat#struggles with addiction#had to work twice as hard as anyone else in his friend group just to be given the same opportunities#a much more common experience inside BIPOC communities#and he clearly has ties to the land (especially the park) nobody else has#you know how in season 2 Alex starts yapping to Jay about how the park is cursed?#maybe he was right#maybe that *thing* has been here for hundreds of years#and nobody was ever able to settle the land so eventually the Department of Conservation turned it into a state park#and Tim isnt some random “patient zero”#but he has ancestral ties to the land and was more receptive/at risk to Operator Sickness (but was also more resistant to it long term)#JUST SAYIN 👀#im half Katu and I desire my comfort character to be a halfie with me we need more non-white rep in mh#ask.txt#marble hornets#mh#tim wright#afterlife au#slenderverse#Native!Tim

i wonder how Darkwick handles the disappearance of the MC from their normal lives. like, MC went to a concert alone and never came back home.
ofc it would be easier for the institute if the MC has no one, but if they have a family/friend that searches for them? that file a missing person report when the hours pass with no response from their phone? that know MC would not run away? Do they let them search for their missing loved one and intentionally sabotage police investigations (or even intervene in them to stop any search), or would they use an anomaly to make it seem like nothing happened and MCs loved ones keep living their lifes unknowingly forgetting MC is not there?
we know that busses and taxis didn't see MC when they tried to go home, so there's most likely an anomaly that makes them "invisible"/unrecognizable to the general public. I don't know what would be more cruel, that MCs family is aware of their disappearance but nothing comes out of their searching efforts, or that they aren't even aware that the MC is missing because of the anomaly.
and if they have work or studies going on?
to me it seems like they aren't expecting for MC to break their curse. MC has been dead from the moment they looked at the eye, only the Sage's Ring gave them the "privilege" of going to class instead of going directly to a cell. once the year is over they won't be useful anymore and Darkwick will continue as intended.
#tokyo debunker#i just had this thought while writing my MCs backstory. her family would search land air and water to find her#but then again#they're poor and the institute has power#so they would most likely shut down any attempt at making Naomi's disappearance be known

Catholics when someone suggests people are "individuals"
#how dare you not submit to our systemic abuse of authority?!#this is maybe too specific to land#but I can't believe the vitriol#spite#condescension#cold vicious hatred#it's like leftists complaining about capitalism#or the anarchists complaining about the state#catholics think individualism is responsible for every evil thing that has ever happened#which by their lights is probably accurate#the idea that individual conscience matters is maybe the greatest scandal such a totalizing institution could be asked to weather

Lol who shall be the big bad unredeemable monster Belos?
Im think Hadrian or maybe even Romeo? Or maybe Romeo as the Collector/One of the older Collectors?
Romeo as the collector definitely!
As for Belos, Hadrian is most likely taking his spot, but I did consider a humanoid version of the witherstorm. Hadrian taking on a more witherstorm look for the final battle works too tho!!

Okay I'm not sure who you talked to, but I'm an archaeologist in the US southwest, and the law is that any construction that gets federal or state money - which includes all road construction - does in fact need a full archaeological survey by an accredited Cultural Resource Management firm before construction. I have studied books and books and books of publications that come from per-construction archaeological survey, and artifacts found have to be both reported to the state and properly housed in a state repository museum. Privately funded construction might get that blithe go-ahead unless something is found, but I promise that salvage archaeology before construction is a HUGE part of US archaeology - in fact, it's pretty much the only time when Native American burials are allowed to be excavated, and if burials are found, excavation HAS to stop and the local tribal authorities be notified and collaborated with to determine what to do with them.
I am delighted to hear these standards exist! & I should be more careful about blithe 2am tag ramblings that r second hand stories from a guy I know lol
#The guy I know worked in the USA in the 1990s primarily & I am not 100% certain on the region#Me Fein#It sucks that 'don't destroy archeological artifacts ' has to be legislated#But I have seen with my own two eyes what some private individuals and state institutions have done to archeological monuments on their lan#Even here where there is a strong continuity in culture between the ppl who manage the land at present and the ppl who built the monuments#So......VERY GLAD that there is legislation and standards there

StrangeSpot, Round Thirty Two: Research (Uni)
The Research team take a trip to the BOOKMOBILE to hit the books and get assignments done. Several LGU dormies show up too (maybe they're jealous that Anna is playable now, but they'll get their turn eventually)!
Studying keep the Vandermorgan brothers from beefing with each other due to the events of last round. There is a positive out of all of it: Taron and Tara fall in love.
Marco, missing Leela's company, invites his late father's girlfriend Jill on a date. Weirdly, she accepts. Even more weirdly, her boyfriend Rocky walks by and sees them making out. The two have a falling out and Marco finds the whole monogamy thing so boring.
Taron graduates because he studied so hard, and Marco is expelled because he didn't study at all. The guy was on academic probation so much I'm surprised the uni gave him a shot at all, lol.

I'm not sure if this was ever specified in the game, but a horrific institute headcanon I have is that the Institute figured out a way to separate the memories from the personality from the copies of people that have on file. That that's what they use as the basis of all gen 3 personalities- whether first cobbled together in a weird Frankenstein collage or straight to the synth component.
That means that anyone's memories and personalities from prewar that got scanned, they're likely not the person they were once the Institute tampered with them.
If Jenifer Lands did a scan at CIT before her death... Would she even be Jenifer Lands anymore?
#fallout 4#fo4#jennifer lands#The Institute#i was watching Night Mind cover an arg that mentioned the name SOMA#and I started thinking of the game SOMA#and how it's possible that Nick could run into a copy of his fiance that sounds like her but doesn't look like her or remembers who she is#like a lost soul that's forgotten their form.#we don't know much about Jenny so it's very possible

I have begun with my art project! We're supposed to document a journey, real or fictional (applies to both journey and place). So, naturally, I'm sending someone into the Distortion.
The first cardboard box is done! There will be another, larger one underneath that's not immediately visible unless you open the door and I'll find a way to fit in little notes of some poor person's attempt at a diary to keep their senses in these corridors. (It won't work but that's the fun in it).
Anyway I'm really excited for this project and I'm super proud of the door so far!
#one note will be halfway hanging through the letter gap 'there is a yellow door in my room. i dont have a yellow door'#the rest? we'll see!#if i can i'll get some of these little pocket mirrors and my teacher is tryna find little led lights i think#it would be sooo trippy (which is to say perfect)#still tryna figure out how to do the notes and other interior though#i thought maybe each wall of the big box is a different colour#or mayyyyybe (and this is a big maybe) i can get my hands onto small pieces of tapestry#that's like. the same pattern but different colours#also my teacher suggested the bigger box underneath but she actually suggested two of those#i'm not sure yet but that could also be fun. or too much. i'll see#funny thing is my tma friend is doing a trip to denmark but that also gets increasingly weird and ends up a file in the magnus institute#and another friend is including the local supernatural fauna of her land of choice very literally#and another friend is also incorporating all creepy myths about those mountains#it's reallllly funny and i'm so excited lmao#it's the coolest project ever istg#a biscuit's rambles

hypothetical struggle between Christianity and paganism in bbc merlin? 👀 one that's very neurodivergent? 👀 do tell
Okay, so Athurian times take place in the early dark ages. Which was probably a weird time for religion in Britain. Because the Roman occupation had just come to an end, leaving behind the structure of catholicism at least with those in positions of power. But religious beliefs were still in the process of blending together with the local practices and other religions, leading to some odd gnostic beliefs. Obviously, bbc merlin doesn't talk about Christianity within Camelot but I think we can assume the catholic church would have a position at the round table. Presumably, Arthur would grow up instructed in catholic belief, go to mass, and have bishops or whatever advising him. He would rule by Devine right, sanctioned by the pope and magic would be characterized as demonic. And that somehow raises the stakes for me, imaging magical merlin within the walls of a very catholic Camelot.
I just have this image of merlin in the back of a cathedral as Arthur attends mass. Kneeling in this beautiful building, head bowed low as the congregation sings praise to a foreign God in a foreign tongue. A God that would apparently have merlin tied to a stake and burned alive. And merlin choking out his empty prayers, echoing in the verbal praise under the isolation of his nonbelief and magical association. Full of fear and venom.
The hypothetical struggle I imagine is one of catholic enforcement pushed by Arthur's religious advisors and Arthur's morality. Because Arthur is a good person and slaughtering a people on the basis religion is insane. So, what does it mean for Arthur if he stops listening to his advisors and starts accepting magic? He has to contend with a spiritual struggle, not just the secular issues presented in the show. And I would looooooove to watch that. The bending of Arthur's beliefs into something more flexible and less rigidly Christian according to the church of the time
#my knowledge on this topic in terms of historical accuracy is blurry so im im wrong: pls for the love of god correct me#but idk if arthur was catholic the entire structure of his idea of the universe would have to change if he started accepting magic#and i think that would be a super interesting transition. where would he land? would he shift to being a more gnostic style Christian?#lose his faith? idk id probably make him like my dad who thinks hell is a human construct and that all are welcom in the kingdom of heaven#and that people should just be kind to eachother. very les mis to love another person is to see the face of god#bc i loooove that idea. i find it fascinating. idk i just think religion is interesting#bc its like how ppl fundamentally understand the universe to work and that is so wild. like i can understand why it was so important in ye#oldy times lol. idk im just a bit fixated on it atm. like its the type of obsession thst feels too big for my head so its straining at the#seams. its also weird bc since its religion my brain is doing that awful thing where its questioning my interest in the topic like r u#questioning ur lack of faith? and im like bro no this is academic interest leave me alone. bc im prone to intrusive thoughts and obsessive#behavior. so thsts fun. but its not too unmanageable rn. so its interesting#idk i probably sound unhinged. lmao i headcanon ✨️ catholic!arthur ✨️ and his fall from grace in the eyes of the church rip#ay religion in not necessarily bad but human institutions are usually fucked#merlin rambling#unrelated
