Meet the cute pet character of my liminal space otome, Romance The Backrooms! It's everyone's favorite lampost dog, Grotto! He was designed by Asukoaa!

Two of my favorite otomes--Code:Realize & Cafe Enchante--both have pet mascot characters in the story. C:R has Sisi the corgi (who is rescued and given a prosthetic leg by one of the love interests) and CE has Kororo the cute unicorn-seal baby from the Beast World. So when I was developing RtB, I knew I wanted to have a similar character in the game!

I was immediately drawn to Grotto's design when I first saw it--it screams "backrooms" to me, and I obtained it for consideration. I wasn't sure if it was too crowded or strange, so I also obtained another strange, cute animal design, basically a cat with eldritch octopus tentacles. Grotto won my heart in the end though, as you can tell. Sorry kitty!

Grotto comes into the story of the upcoming demo pretty late, but he still plays a key role. And he'll definitely have more of a spotlight in the 2nd demo that will be developed from September to October! So please look forward to that.
