I am so sick of being expected to act excited over every christmas gift. I'm going to open it, stare at it, nod if I like it, or make a twisted face if I don't. I don't know if I like your gift yet, I haven't had it three seconds! I need to get aquatinted with the object in question. My brother made me a painting and it was 4 years after passing by it in my house everyday that I stopped, inspected the details, colors, ran a finger over the paint brush strokes, that I said to myself, "Wow. I really like this painting."
On the other hand, I also understand wanting to see the person's reaction to your gift. I get it... BUT personally I despise the concept of on the spot faking a reaction to something you didn't ask for (even if it's great.) My brain is slow, so I do the wrong emotes and then, uh oh, they think I hate the gift. I'M SORRY. I might hate the gift but I love you. What more do you want. I'm honestly just happy you thought of me.

Novedades musicales: octubre 2023

I dreamt that there was no snow
I dreamt that we were on a show
I dreamt that I was king
I dreamt that you couldn't sing
I dreamt that I knew what to say
I dreamt that I was on tour every day
I dreamt that I smashed my phone
I dreamt that we were alone
Why didn't you dream?
How did it sink?
Why didn't you dream?
How did it sink?
I dreamt that I knew what you meant
I dreamt that this wasn't the end
I dreamt that I slept enough
I dreamt that this wasn't tough
I dreamt that the clouds were black
I dreamt that you had my back
I dreamt that I loved someone better
I dreamt that I could forget her
Why didn't you dream?
How did it sink?
Why didn't you dream?
How did it sink?

Through The Soil label: Through The Soil II (2022)
Hark! Another Brooklyn label-based charity compilation. Good. Sign us up. We always give Kings County a chance when it comes to artists, bands, and labels knowing that All Things Omega is only 50 miles away and is proud to be associated with the scene. Compilations featuring unsigned and no-label artists such as Through The Soil’s latest are great because you don’t know what to get or even expect. Omega took a good amount of cuts from last year’s compilation benefiting The National Network Of Abortion Funds (previously The Trevor Project) and it’s an curious mostly-blissful reprieve of the usual density we pursue for our radio show.
There’s plenty of new experiences to be had when you first hear the spoiled sounds Sword II’s bedroom pop number “First Rule Of The Bug”, Cryogeyser’s sad, worrisome shoegaze “Obvious”, and the slow looks of Horse Jumper Of Love’s “Hotel Swimming Pool” it gives you as you walk past. Something sparse and attentive of “Hot Toddy” from Kolezanka would sound like a close intimate in-studio affair, whereas Hiding Places’ takes itself to familiar territory in “The Fly” with it’s Nineties’-soaked alternative delivery. Slower, near-silent moments such as Lala Lala, Tomberlin’s “Good Luck New Year” would make you believe you’re experiencing the darker parts of a bright sundown on the horizon during a dry low-humidity day, and Parannoul’s “Lost And Found” claims itself as a critically serious Springtime moment. There’s other tracks coming in stronger and intensified featuring Sam Silbert, They Are Gutting A Body Of Water, and Sun Organ on an otherwise placatory collection that’s easeful, steady, and mostly at peace with itself.
