The above are concepts classified according to subject and usage. It not only helps writers and thinkers to organize their ideas but leads them from those very ideas to the words that can best express them.
It was, in part, created to turn an idea into a specific word. By linking together the main entries that share similar concepts, the index makes possible creative semantic connections between words in our language, stimulating thought and broadening vocabulary.

Richard seems to love water. Lots of pictures of him by the sea or taking his kids to the sea, on a boat. He even mentioned moving to Cape Town for his golden years. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a beach or a lake house.
Paul as well, hardcore city boy like Richard, but has a deep love for Hiddensee.
Ollie also seems to spend his off time surrounded by palm trees.
And we all know Till's love for water, fishing, swimming and nature in general.
Hi 👋
The love for water in this band is quite clear 💙
Richard's plans for Capetown were mentioned by him in this interview back in 2018 - he really seems to enjoy this location:
"I would most like to live in Cape Town. You have the mountains on one side and two oceans on the other. The people are open and friendly and there is a very beautiful light that is good for my mind."
And overall he apparently enjoys being near the water via boat or at the beach or generally by the sea. Like this tour in Oostende or back in 1998 at Venice Beach for 'official' pictures:
as well as for vacation, with his kids, with fans (in Mexico back in 2022) - there are a lot of beach/sea pictures of him, so i'll limit it to a few:
He even got married at a beach:
Till also has quite a deep connection to water, be it for fishing (like with his daughter last year), exploring (with Joey Kelly for their 'Yukon' book) or with Dr. Simi (for I guess some relaxation in Mexico):
Ollie spent some time in Capetown himself earlier this year and picked up a new surf board:
And Paul's love Hiddensee is quietly deep rooted since most likely his Feeling B-days, since this island was like a little place of freedom for the GDR punk rock scene, plus his band colleague from Feeling B, Aljoscha Rompe, is buried there. I'm not 100% sure, but I always assumed that this footage was filmed there:
youtube
And from what I've seen, Schneider also likes to spend time at lakes ☕...👀
Now I only need some Flake footage to add to the mix...
It's quite interesting that many members of a band so surrounded by fire are so drawn to water. In this interview, Richard talked about the balance between water and fire (topic was peculiar enough the water damage in his house he had in 2017):
"[...] so that everything should be in balance—if you have fire on one side, you must have water on the other side to somehow restore the equilibrium."
(thank you @dandysnob for the clip 🤍)
So in that sense, 'Mein Land' had a really fitting theme, not just lyric-wise 😊🌊
#how. did this post get so big#funnily enough i typed it out at the beach ⛱️😅#couldn't resist to bring 'BALANGS' into this ask#rammstein#richard kruspe#paul landers#till lindemann#oliver riedel#ask

Echoes of Wisdom Trailer Analysis: Part 2
PREV
When Ganon is defeated, he sinks to the ground, emitting purple haze and crackling with golden embers.
Once Link delivers the finishing blow, it snaps Ganon back to the center of the map, confirming that this isn't purely cinematic.
He's dissolving into black and purple, to the point that it almost looks like his colors are...rotting.
And Zelda, in the back, is glaring at him.
We get our first proper look at the trident. It's double-sided—that's weird. As far as I'm aware, that's a first in terms of Zelda weaponry.
It's also weirdly simplistic for the havoc it's about to wreak.
Gan explodes.
Zelda flinches away.
Link goes up to see her, right as the trident begins to break the world apart.
The cracks here are different from the one Ganon made to rend the exit from the arena, though. These are bright-edged, and while they do emit mist, there's no particles.
Not like this.
The more it grows, the more the edges look like fire, burning away everything they touch.
As Link sinks in, he starts to flicker in a haze, and pulls out his bow.
One with the same teal geometry as his cape and his sword. The arrow on it looks completely normal, though. Which is weird, considering that it breaks Zelda's prison.
Also worth noting, do you see what's past the rift? It's not just void.
There are rocks back there, floating in space. Parts of the floor? Floating islands?
Link's bow doesn't do the whole job, though. Zelda has to beat her fists against the crystal to break out the rest of the way. A metaphor for how the game's going to go?
The rift begins to expand. It only does so after Zelda's gone to the other side of the room, though:
See here? This is where Link's cape was thrown in previous shots. It's missing now, and Zelda's near the stairs to the room, which means she must have picked it up.
As she flees the scene, we can see fragments of what looks like stairs behind her. Does the rift scenery change depending on where it is when it consumes?
She manages to make it outside. We can see a river with some falls, the mountains
And a...rock...grove?
The dust settles, and our theory is confirmed.
Whatever's back there, it changesbased on what it eats. Which means, depending on how much it eats, it's navigable.
Which means maybe, just maybe, we're going to search for Link in there at the end.
We get a better view of our surrounds. We're at a lake. Lake Hylia?
There's a cavern here, with some sort of stone with holes. Maybe our teleport solution. The cavern has fairy patterns on it—Great Fairy fountain, almost definitely.
Then this area back here is a temple of some kind, with what I think are owl statues.
There's another thing back here. A swamp hut?
Hyrule Castle encompasses its Castle Town. You can see the houses peeking out of it.
And then the camera pans, revealing a twist to this whole thing.
That's Death Mountain. On the west side of the map.
This is not A Link to the Past's Hyrule layout.
Not even close.
#loz#zelda#eow#echoes of wisdom#long post#theory#analysis#i'll do the commentary trailer next but that one will take me a bit longer

Earthshot
I'm pretty sure Scobie hinted at it in Endgame. I've only just now made the connection after seeing this post from @sassyfrassboss and William's announcement for Cape Town.
What makes the House of Windsor unique with this dance with the media is the competing households within it, all with their own agendas, and all doing their best to please their bosses. Up until the Queen's death, there were three houses, each with a team assigned to work with the media: Kensington Palace for William and Kate, Clarence House for Charles and Camilla, and Buckingham Palace for the monarch. There were also smaller teams under the BP umbrella who worked with other family members like Edward and Sophie, Princess Anne, and (pre-departure) Harry and Meghan. Though all part of the same institution, the rivalry between these teams is real in many ways and often derails a unified message. Each house is often angling for the same space in newspapers, hand-waving for attention with regards to their work, grabbing the ideal dates and locations for their tours and engagements, or scrambling for first dibs on charitable causes. And this rivalry often causes rifts, problems, and confusion downstream after a particular household offers breaking news or choreographs a PR operation. It was an 'absolute headache' when Charles, William, and Harry all wanted to do similar high-profile environmental work, an aide once told me. 'None of them were into the idea of collaborating; they all wanted their own big moments away from the other...It was all about competition, and the households were purposefully holding information back so others couldn't try to get ahead,' they explained.
So going down the rabbit hole:
Summer 2019 (July or August) - Harry announced Travalyst.
December 2019 - William announced the Earthshot Prize.
January 2020 - Charles announced the Sustainable Marketplaces, which evolved in 2021 as Terra Cotta.
The only reason I think these charities are what Scobie is alluding to is because of how butthurt and bent out of shape Harry got when William announced the Earthshot Prize. I can't remember what he did anymore - was it that new picture of Archie with the mountain/lake behind him or was there something more? - but whatever he did, it was immediately apparent he didn't like William's work at all.
And now with hindsight, Harry probably thought he had called dibs on environmental work when he launched Travalyst, so it wasn't fair for William to have co-opted it with the Earthshot Prize a couple months later and then it equally wasn't fair when Charles threw his own hat into the mix.
But I think the joke is on Harry. William and Charles's projects were fully developed when they launched, to where now, 4 years later, they're very successful and have name recognition all over the world. Meanwhile, no one knows what Travalyst does, people think it's a grift for Harry and Meghan to write off all their travel expenses and accept travel freebies under the guise of sustainability, and Harry's been kicked off the board. He's still listed on the website as Founder and Patron, but it's been made vrey clear in a couple of articles when the website was updated that Harry's not involved in the company anymore other than being a lightning rod for controversy.

cape cod
April 19, 2024
Lucia had her head out of the car window as they drove into Cape Cod, she loved being near the water and the feeling in the air. Her eyes were darting everywhere as John drove them through town she was absolutely loving the town already.
John smiled softly as he watched her look so peaceful as she looked out the window.
John drove them closer to the water and they finally got to his family’s lake house making him pull into the front driveway into their lake house.
Lucia smiled admiring the house in front of her, she thought it was absolutely beautiful and she loved how many bushes of hydrangeas was in the front yard. Lucia could already see herself living in Cape Cod one day.
John got out of the car walking around and opening the passenger door for Lucia to get out before shutting, they both grabbed their bags and headed to the front door walking up the front steps, John unlocked the front door and let Lucia walk into the house.
“I’ll give you a tour in a little bit but i assume you want to go to the water first?” John asked knowing Lucia loves being in the water and he was right when she eagerly nodded.
John led him through the bottom level of the house where his bedroom was and some of the guest rooms, his parents room and a guest room was on the second floor with the dinning room, a living room and the kitchen and Paul’s room was on the third floor with a mother guest room up there.
John had picked his room when he was very young and his parents bought the house, he liked the bottom floor as it had its own living room and it had the back doors out to the back yard and a large deck that looks at the water.
John opened his bedroom door letting Lucia walk in and set her bags down on the floor.
“Swimming?” Lucia looked at him eagerly as she asked.
“Course.” John smiled fondly at his partner as he grabbed his swim shorts and opened the bathroom door letting Lucia go in to change and he changed in the bedroom.
John sat on the bed waiting for her to come out and he looked up as she walked out and his breath got caught in his throat, She was wearing a very small blue and white bikini.
It was the most skin John has ever seen and she looked so gorgeous he had to think of anything to not get distracted.
“Johnny?” Lucia softy called and slightly smirked seeing his eyes trying to not look at her body, something that really warmed her heart.
“Come on.” John took a deep breath and got up walking over to her, He smirked slighty and put his arms under her thighs and picked her up making her squeal and wrap her legs around his waist tight and her arms linking around his next.
“What are you doing?” Lucia laughed as she held onto her partner, no boy has ever picked her up besides her brothers when she was younger but for most of her life she has always been taller than everyone so no one every picked her up, but John who is only an inch taller picked her up with complete ease.
“Holding my girl.” John cheekily answered as he walked through the bottom floor to the back doors and walked out and down towards the dock. Lucia smiled softly and held onto him.
“Ready?” John softly asked pressing a kiss to her cheek as he got to the end of the dock, Lucia nodded and John jumped into the water with her still in his arms.
Lucia and John came back up from under the water and Lucia smiled softly as she swam closer to him and wrapped her legs back around his waist and brushed some of his wet hair away from his forehead and cupped his cheek with her hand and gently rubbed his cheekbone.
“Thank you for taking me here.” Lucia softly whispered to him leaning close to him she could see every single freckle on his face.
“Thank you for coming.” Jack whispered back just as softly.
Lucia smiled and pressed her lips to him her fingers running through his wet curly hair.
Lucia and John stayed in the Cape for five days spending all of their time together and alone.
Going to the beach many times, to see the sunrise, go swimming, seeing the sunsets together.
They cooked a lot together at the lake house and it was really enjoyable for both of them.
Riding bikes together around town and exploring different areas as John told her of his memories in different areas.
They went to a few different towns close by exploring those as well and Lucia bought many souvenirs and gifts.
Went on a few late night ice cream runs and Lucia had some of the best ice cream she has ever had in her life.
Slept in together just cuddling in bed as they listened to the peace and silence with only chirping birds and the ripples of the lake.
Going on evening walks together around the neighborhood letting Lucia see all of the houses nearby and all the beautiful flowers in everyone’s yards.
They took the sail boat out for one full day and sailed around for a few hours before they anchored and had a little date lunch together, John taught Lucia how to sail and she basically sailed all the way back on her own.
John reading to Lucia some of his favorite books that he keeps at the lake house so he can reread them when he is there and Lucia found she completely relaxes listening to John read to her.
John got Lucia a beautiful sapphire necklace that she absolutely adores and has not taken off since she got it.
Lucia absolutely fell in love with Cape Cod and could not wait until she came back.
And sadly their trip was over and John drove Lucia to the airport so she could go home for a few days before she headed out to Worlds in Prague.

Hey y’all! Say hello to
Ebott~
Or at least the first wip of the ebott map! I have all the main (above ground) locations so far!
For those who are wondering, dark brown is rocky hilly land/cliff sides, rusty brown is mountain ranges, khaki is grassland, green is forest, and light tan is beaches obviously lol. I don’t think I need to say what the blue areas represent.
I’ll add descriptions of each landmark below the next picture.
Alright starting from left to right:
Atlantis: home of the hadal monsters, the majority of this city is underwater, but some of it is accessible through the cliffs of bluefin island as well as floating buildings anchored to the shallower ocean around the island. The majority of Atlantis city houses its people in the curved section of the ocean trench by bluefin island. The buildings are carved into the rock.
Seashore: ebotts second largest beach town, seashore is a beautiful place where the majority of ebotts fishing trade takes place. It’s a popular vacation spot more for ebotts residents, but it does get some tourism too during holiday season.
Echo hills: the southernmost city of ebott, echo hills is a small city surrounded by grassy farmland. Due to the location, the place is raining more than not, and is perfect for crops that need lots of water! Echo hills is best known for its rice, producing just enough to sustain ebott.
Remembrance: located to the west on wells island, remembrance town houses one of the maintained entrances to the connected underground’s. It is also the point where the famine monsters were found and rescued. Here the royals placed the memorial of those left behind. Massive stone statues carved all over with the names of family who died underground or were left behind in the crash surround the caves entrance. A small town of monsters maintain the area, and some livestock are raised there as well.
The great dam: exactly what the name suggests, it’s just ebotts biggest dam. It’s part of the national forest so only a handful of maintenance workers and rangers actually live there. The dam is connected to waterfall lake.
The national forest entrance: this is the official way to see the national park, and access the maintained trails. Most of the park rangers live near here as well. There’s a small tourist trap too selling gift items, and farther up is a hunting lodge that opens during open season.
The Temple: located right in the middle of ebott, the actual temple building sits on top of three large mountains near kidney lake. The temple houses ebotts history and is a popular tourist spot. It also houses one of the maintained entrances to the underground, connected to some of the upper levels of waterfall.
NEW EBOTT: the largest city of ebott, and the capital of the county. New ebott has it all! The education, entertainment, shopping and jobs! And of course all the important big government buildings are here as well as most of the royals! New ebott is the only city connected to all the railroads and has the largest airport.
Rails Way: a city surrounding an important train stop, rails way is the in between rest stop between Portland and new ebott. Besides the trains passing through, it also is where trucks in ebott are made and fixed for the most part. There’s a few other factories in the city as well, like a few metal processing plants.
Metta Land: north to new ebott, this is basically a theme park, mega mall, and Hollywood all rolled into one spot. Metta land is so big that there’s even a few villages around it where its employees live. It also houses the only man/monster made entrance to the underground, going straight to hotland of course. What happens in metta land stays in metta land
Portland: this is the second biggest city of ebott located on the east. Almost all trade ships stop here. Portland is a bustling business city full of factories, and has a few houses of education too! It also houses most of ebotts navy and has the second largest airport.
Cape resort: located on the southern rocky cliffs, cape resort is in fact not a resort. It’s rocky, cold and generally horrible to live in if you’re not an aquatic monster lol. However it has an oil rig. Lots of hadal and sea monsters live there maintaining that oil rig.
New hope: new hope is a beautiful mountain town housing the entrance to snowdin, the largest entrance to the underground. It gets the largest amount of tourists year round and is a popular ski location during the winters as well. The parts of new hope that aren’t for tourists are mostly farmland or forests put aside for logging. Plenty of vineyards are in this area
Ridgeside factory: Ridgeside factory is ebotts main power plant and is directly connected to the core in hotland as well. It’s surrounded by a few villages too where more outdoorsy monsters live. Those who don’t work at the factory are either from hotland or are miners. The mountains in the area are littered with natural caverns being used as mine entrances
Golden valley city: the golden valley refers to the surrounding farmland, but in the very middle of it is the golden valley city. It is a rural type of place, is where the majority of ebotts produce passes through before being sold, and is a huge art center of the country. Just about everything above ground is grown in the valley surrounding the city.
Steeler city, the third largest city of ebott, steeler is where golden valley ships their produce to be preserved and spread around the rest of the country. Steeler is full of factories and restaurants. The most famous eating places of ebott are located here!
Crimson gate bridge: it’s a massive bridge named after the Golden Gate Bridge in California. This bridge is actually a sunny gold color, but they named it crimson in fear of being called copycats
Corncopia: a third farming community located between the split between white water river, ebotts biggest river. Corncopia is absolutely gorgeous but space is limited so it’s a fight to get any land there. The prime spots are taken by the rich for their homes or by the big wig farmers who cemented their place when the country was first forming
Not listed on the map is the underground! Ebott still has all the underground chambers from when the monsters were sealed away. New entrances to the underground are being discovered each day, and still plenty of monsters live there, preferring the comfort of a home they knew from before. Since there no longer trapped inside, the underground has become pretty comfortable. At least the discovered parts are ;)
I’ll describe the three main areas from smallest to largest
Hotland: hotland is really only a small thin chunk of the underground. A long but thin lake of lava surrounded by rocky chambers makes up the areas of hotland. The most popular spot of course is hotland city, connected to metta land, it’s pretty much the Vegas of ebott these days. The less visited spot, core, is a small town housing the core, connected to Ridgeside factory, and housing several research centers.
Snowdin. Snowdin is actual just the name of the small quaint town close to the underground entrance in new hope. They have year round skiing, and a pretty boat ride through waterfall straight to hotland for tourists. The outskirts of snowdin however have several villages filled with farmers growing magical crops that thrive in the cold temperatures.
Waterfall: it’s estimated that nearly 80% of the underground chambers are waterfall lands. Humid, cool but not frigid, and filled with varying levels of fresh and salt water, waterfall is underneath the majority of ebott, and even extends into the ocean some. Almost all of ebotts magical crops are grown down in the lived in parts of waterfall. It’s because of this area that ebott is self sufficient in feeding its people. Waterfall also houses the fourth and fifth largest cities of ebott; New Shell and Lily pad Fields.
Whew! That was a lot! I’ll probably add more to the map later on, but I think this is good for now

I really ought to call these "niche" rather than "useless". Anyway, here's one for you and your Folklore AU, @loud-kid2, specifically about the lake that the brothers come to live in.
The Mushroom Forest shares a border with a sizable lake, allowing a sort of maritime culture to shape up along the shore. While the castle itself is deeper in the woods, Peach still likes to frequent the port town—especially after the brothers make their home in the waters.
Though the brothers spend most of their free time as seals, they still share a small cottage on the coast some ways away from town. It isn't what Peach would've wanted to grant them, but they insist it's perfect. They really only come in when the seas are too stormy, or if one of them caught something worth cooking up on the stove. The rest of the time, the house is occupied by guests (more often Peach), or the lake's naiad whenever they're ashore.
And with that, you are also entitled to a second bonus headcanon—specifically about the naiad, or water nymph, that might've already had some claim on the shack and only realized that the others were underfoot when they nearly threw out a strange wooden doll caped in blue.
I got into Super Mario RPG, realized how neat Geno was, and figured in the context of the one-shot I'm working on, he'd be best suited as a sort of caretaker for the cottage—at least, when not busy with managing the well-being of the lake. Nobody knows what other form Geno takes beyond that doll on the leather armchair, and no one is sure whether to ask. When he's not cozying up with a book or a puzzle, he likes to fish (catch and release).
Just some pictures of the cottage by the shore.
Bonus addition that the Bros. might've built on:

Spirit of Halloween
Jack meets the Spirit of Halloween. Although, despite thinking it's their first time meeting, the spirit knows who exactly Jack is. And he's waiting to see how long it takes for the guardian to find out who he is.
Fall had arrived at the town of Burgess. And October 31st is tomorrow. Jack, despite being the spirit of winter, is actually quite fond of the season. After all, trick-or-treating is quite fun, seeing the kids wearing handmade costumes and walk around the neighborhood with their parents.
As the guardian walks on top of a wooden fence, the sun starts to set. Just when Jack was about to call the wind, the shrill neigh of a horse pierced the silent evening.
He snaps his head back, just to see the tail of a Night-Mare as it slips into an alleyway. Jack can't help but feel a sense of deja Vu when he enters the alleyway. He threaded carefully, staff in hand and feet slow as to not make any noise.
He peered from a wall, and saw someone petting the Night-Mare's head. He was wearing black armour, with some golden pieces here and there. A bright green jewel held up a cape that is red inside and black outside. Jack could see the a sword and it's sheath and... Is that a whip... Made out of a human spine...?
The man was facing back to Jack, so he can't see his face. He can, however, make out a mop of dark hair. As he tries to take a closer look, his staff hits a nearby trash can, alerting the two of his presence.
The Night-Mare looks toward the direction of the noise and the man, Jack swore to the moon, spirit things are weird, his head immediately bursts into blue flames. The now headless body turns around, unsheathing his sword from his halberd and advancing towards Jack.
Jack gulped when the spirit corners him, but when the spirit saw(?) Jack he seems to let out a sigh as he puts his sword back. The spirit walks towards the Night-Mare and motions for it to follow him.
As the winter spirit follows the two, they disappeared when they turn to a corner. Jack scratches his head as he looks around for any sign of a headless spirit and a black horse, but nothing, "Where could they gone off to?" He muttered. After a few minutes, Jack gave up trying to find the two. He calls the wind, and went back to his lake.
The headless spirit and Night-Mare watches as Jack flew away. The Night-Mare bumped her master with her snout, in a way asking, 'So, now what?'
"... I want to see how long it'll take him to find out who I am," said The Dullahan.
The next day finally came. Halloween finally came. Jack snickers as he saw Jamie's costume, "What are you going as, little guy?"
"I'm a bigfoot! Sophie's a Tooth Fairy," he points at his sister. Surprisingly, the little girl's costume is very accurate to the real Tooth Fairy. In fact, Jack wouldn't be surprised if someone think the two might be related.
"Huh, just like the real thing. Anyway, gotta go. See you later tonight, Jamie," with a leap, he flew away from the house.
As Jack let himself being carried by the wind like snowflakes, his eyes caught the sight of something blue and glowing passing the roads.
It was the spirit from yesterday.
Jack landed on an electric pole, watching as the headless rider rode his horse. Some children went towards the spirit, and the rider puts some candy inside their bag and pillow covers.
Now that he remembered it... There is a Spirit of Halloween. However, he is a mysterious one, only appearing during October and nowhen else. Plus, nobody has ever heard or seen his voice because... Well, he lacks a head.
Jack, being the curious immortal teen he is, decides to see what the Spirit of Halloween is all about. As the headless rider walks to a rather empty road, Jack floats near him, "Hey, uh... Halloween, right?"
The horse stops, and the torso slightly turns towards Jack's direction. He's looking at him... Right?
"So, mind telling me where the horse come from? I'm pretty sure you know about Pitch-"
The spirit points at himself.
"... They're yours?"
A slight bow. A nod?
"Okay... Hey, can you show me trick-or-treating?"
The rider just looks at the winter spirit in silence.
"Come on, I promise I won't ruin anything. Plus, you're more chill than Bunny, so I have no reason to get on your naughty list. If you have one,"
Somewhere in the Warren and the North Pole, two guardians sneezed when Jack uttered those words.
The rider made a hand motion, asking Jack to join. The winter sprite smiled and landed on the road. The rider get off his mount, patting the mare as it sinks into the shadows.
"So, where to first?"
And that is how two spirits ended up going from house to house, street to street, and ends up in a haunted house. Apparently the Spirit of Halloween took great pride in scaring people. Especially teens who said "Haunted houses are for kids," and "I'm not scared of some creaky cheap costume house,"
Plus, due to it being Halloween, the barrier between the living and the spirit world are very thin, meaning that everyone can see the two regardless of their belief. It was the first time Jack knows about this, so when an elderly lady says that his 'costume' looks amazing, he almost cried in joy.
Halloween is slowly climbing up the ranks of his favourite holidays.
The clock slowly ticking towards midnight. Jack looks at the bucket of candy in his hand. He wasn't expecting to participate in the event, "Hey, thanks for letting me join," he said to the headless rider.
The rider doesn't say anything, instead popping a peppermint into the fire that is his head.
"What is your name anyway?"
The rider looks at Jack and leans to his ears.
The winter spirit's eyes widened when he heard a familiar voice in his ears, "Oh, you know who exactly I am, Frost,"
When Jack leans back, the rider- no. Pitch, had disappeared. He looks at his bucket of candy and finds a black licorice candy in it.
"Jerk," he says as he unwrapped it. Jack pulls it out of his mouth and make a disgusted face, "Ugh, who eats this thing?"
Even though he wasn't expecting Pitch being the Spirit of Halloween, it make a lot of sense. It might be the only time of the year the Guardians can't do anything. North and Bunny because they're busy while Sandy and Tooth can't do their jobs yet because the kids sleep late for trick-or-treating.
Plus, fear is fun during Halloween.

Kingdom of the Little People
The Kingdom of the Little People is a theme park near Kunming, China that features comic performances by people with dwarfism. Supporters of the park claim that it provides employment to people who would otherwise be unable to find work, but it has been criticized for treating dwarfism as a humorous condition.
As of 2010, there were over 100 employees whose ages ranged from 19 to 48. The park requires employees to be less than 51 inches (130 cm) tall. The employees live in nearby dormitories which were specifically constructed to be accessible to short people. During the performances, the actors pretend to live in small mushroom shaped houses.
The park was founded in September 2009 by Chen Mingjing, a wealthy real estate investor. Although many visitors to the park are students from nearby towns, Chen hopes to make the park a destination for tourists visiting China. He provides English lessons for his employees to help them interact with foreign tourists. He aims to eventually employ 1,000 people with dwarfism.
The performers sing, dance, and perform onstage for visiting tourists. They often act out Qigong, scenes from fairy tales, or ballets such as Swan Lake. They also occasionally perform hip-hop dances. The performances often feature a "Dwarf King.” The king, who is only 1 metre (3.3 ft) tall, often wears a gold silk cape and rides a three-wheeled motorcycle during performances.
The park has been criticized by several organizations, including the Little People of America and Humanity & Inclusion. Critics contend that the park resembles a human zoo and isolates its employees from the rest of society. Chen claims that the business provides employment for many who would otherwise be unemployed, allowing them to build self-respect. Many employees have said that they enjoy living with other short people and feel less lonely at the park. They say that before they were employed by Chen they were unable to find work or were exploited by employers. The American television channel, Vice, started partly by director Spike Jonze, filmed a piece for their show, Vice Essentials, at the Kingdom of the Little People in 2015. In their short documentary they interviewed some of the staff and were taken on a tour of the park, including the dorms and behind the scenes places that visitors are not normally privy to.

Wednesday 17th April 2024
When dawn broke one could see the lights of Mossel Bay across the water, but as the sun came up, the mist started to come down. I guess that's just the way it is there. We had a quick breakfast, loaded the stuff into the VW, bade our farewells to this strange property, the sea front and the parrots and hit the road; this time the N2 bound for George. In all we expected roughly 3 hours elapsed time of motoring, but we intended to call in at Knysna; a town everyone seems to know and tell us we need to go to, but a place no-one seems to be sure about what's there. Anyway, we headed to the Waterfront which seemed a good starting point and were soon fixed up with an extremely palatable coffee and chocolate croissant. Most acceptable I'd say.
This part of the coast is firmly into the Garden Route, and our journey onwards East confirmed that the scenery is absolutely fabulous. Green, lush vegetation, tree clad mountains and picturesque lakes. Through Wilderness and on to Pine Lake which lay so still, not a ripple, it was just content to sit there all day reflecting the mountain behind. Soon we were passing the sign which declared we were now officially in the Eastern Cape.
We lunched in Plettenberg Bay, a comly little place designed very much for holiday makers. We fitted right in there and found a seat overlooking the beach which was full of happy families with designated tasks of building sandcastles. We left the VW in the good care of a carpark attendant, and in the age old tradition, by passing silver from one palm to the other, no harm would come to the car.
Life guards were nervously watching the bay and the swimmers. At one point everyone was called out of the water. Great Whites have been spotted recently and are, we are told, more likely April onwards. Hmm. Didn't see one but I'm sure he saw us!
Now we asked Mr Avis, taxi drivers all sorts, are there any toll roads in South Africa/ Garden Route? Oh no they all said. We don't have tolls. Well as soon as we plotted our route on Google to Jeffrey's Bay there it was, toll road. Don't you just know it. Anyway, we have plenty of spare change and this route saved us an hour, so we set off. Through forest, hill and dale we drove on an empty road, empty because you have to pay I guess. Anyway, we pulled into the booth, produced our R200 note and the girl said, oh, you don't have to pay. No explanation that we could understand, but we were free to go!
This is an interesting country. Clearly when a job needs doing, a white man calls for a black man. Mornings and evenings we see pickup trucks going back and forth picking up and dropping off teams of men and taking them to where the work is; often lawn maintenance, general building and in volume, road maintenance. They crowd into the backs of these vehicles often from pickup points along the roads. Archaic maybe but it seems to work. In its defence there seems a distinct attempt to create jobs even if it is so menial and perhaps unnecessary. For instance, people manually sweeping sand off a path by the beach or standing waving or holding limply a red flag near to roadworks. The sad thing is that they often seem to come out of the shanty towns on the outskirts of rather affluent white towns. We cannot judge as it's not our culture, but it is a little disconcerting.
We passed one such shanty town made up of rows and rows of tiny corrugated iron boxes, and I'm ashamed to say, were relieved when we crossed a river and into an area called Paradise Beach where we are lodged in a luxurious little house on stilts for the next three days.
ps We popped out for an evening meal at a restaurant recommended by our host. It could not be closer to the sea if it tried; the floor was sand! I had an excellent tuna steak and Martine a lamb shank but cooked in an amazing South African set of spices unknown. Absolutely delicious. The whole thing with tips and alcohol was less than £29!
pps over 31°C today.
ppps there was a malicious campaign afoot on the toll road into here disparaging the rights to baboons having a square meal. Big signs, Do Not Feed the Baboons. Fine for doing so, R500. Well we didn't see a single baboon along the 60k section hungry or otherwise.
