Jean is finally worn down by Cat and Laila and Jeremy to try bubble tea with them. They get him the plainest flavor, only an inkling of sweet sugar to ease him into it.

After 5 minutes the group considers this a win. Jean hasn't been chatting with the rest of them, but he's been focussed on his drink, not complaining about it or the calories or how this single sweet treat will cost them championships.

Then, Jean leans close to his napkin over the table where they sit outside and spits about ten pearls out like a cat. They look on with horror - Jean had just been storing them in his mouth the whole time.

He grimaces, "I do not like the little balls," then goes back to his drink.

laila knew that kai had to of been just wanting to mess with her. whether he considered doing so fun or not ... she really didn't think that it was at all. maybe this was her being too serious. usually, she knew how to have fun with things. she ended up giving him a look; taking a beat before speaking. "yes, please do. the last thing i need is for them to be ruined. you do know how much they cost to replace one, right? as the saying goes... you break it. you buy it. seems fair enough to me. " a raise of her eyebrow soon followed right at his comment. " do i even want to know where you were going with that joke, or? "when it came to her trying to take the edge of, it depended. most of the time it took her a while until she was able to just relax. " i don't, usually. i've got a lot to do. and who else is going to do it all besides for me. " watching the mimicking move he made with his fingers evidently showed her what he was talking about. "so, you just smoke? that's the only way that you know how to relax? "

kai watches her with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips, clearly entertained by her spiral of concerns. he leans back in his chair, crossing his arms casually as he listens to her list off potential disasters. when she finishes, he raises an eyebrow, his eyes gleaming with that familiar, teasing mischief. “ alright, alright, i’ll keep the water away from your precious electronics, " he responds, holding up his hands in mock surrender before chuckling again. “ but, come on, laila. some things are better wet, right ? " feigns innocence at his comment, shoulder soon shrugging. “ seriously, though, don’t you ever thinking about taking the edge off ? there’s ways to chill out. and I know my first choice, ” kai tells her, before mimicking the act of smoking a joint in subtle suggestion.

Could you write something for Jude where the reader kind of rejects him at first because he’s not her type, based on the way he dresses and all that, but then she sees him in the team uniform and totally changes her mind? You had no idea Laila knew so many people, it was like she had reserved an entire floor of the restaurant just for the guests. But the atmosphere was incredible, lots of laughter, loud conversation and the sound of background music playing very softly. You and your friends talked and laughed for nothing.

But you felt someone looking at you, which made you turn your face over and over again, without being able to identify who was watching you.

Laila knows many well-known English players, she always watched her brother's games when he tried to pursue a football career. One of those players is here today, Jude Bellingham, sitting a few feet away from you, chatting with some friends and looking at you whenever he can.

He had already seen you in photos that Laila posts on Instagram, catching his attention. But seeing you in person took him by surprise, you were even more beautiful.

"Laila, come here please." He called the birthday girl. "Who is she?" He asked Laila as soon as she approached him. Jude didn't point at you, he just turned his gaze in your direction.

"Oh, she's my friend and we're neighbors." Laila looked at him suspiciously. "Why? Are you interested?"

"Perhaps."

"I'll see what I can do for you."

You watched as Laila walked away from Jude with a small smile and walked towards you. "What?" you mumbled when you saw her looking at you.

"Remember I told you once that I have a friend who plays football in Madrid?" She said unceremoniously as she sat down in the empty chair next to you.

You nodded. Laila and her boyfriend go to Madrid all the time just to watch him play.

"You talk about him all the time, impossible to forget."

Laila laughed and turned her face towards Jude who was watching the conversation apprehensively, completely oblivious to the chatter of his friends around him. You ended up following the girl's gaze and saw Jude turning his face away when he saw your gaze on him.

"Is that him?" You questioned.

"Yes, himself. Jude Bellingham."

"Hmm, and why did you bring up this topic out of nowhere?"

Laila bit her lips.

"You're my friend, he's my friend, you're single and so is he... I thought it would be a good idea to get you two together and Jude said he was interested in you."

You laughed.

"Sorry Laila, that's not going to happen. He's not my type."

Laila's eyes widened.

"I think you should get out of your comfort zone. Jude is a nice guy, you should see the way the girls in Madrid talk about him."

"Another topic for my list of cons, I can't imagine myself with someone so coveted like that. And he's very handsome, but he has a very different style of clothes, definitely not my type.

Laila nodded and laughed lightly at your comment.

"He really dresses badly, but he's a nice guy." you smiled "But that's okay, maybe another time."

Your eyes followed Laila again, she took the information to Jude, who in turn, seemed upset when he heard from his friend that you're not interested. He was teased by his friends and exchanged glances with you for the last time. Something that made Jude not want to give up on you so easily.

1 week later

"Hey, where are you?" You called Laila as soon as you left the hotel you were staying at.

You arrived in Madrid two days ago for academic purposes, the college always organizes trips to other places and you always go along when you can.

Laila was already here before you arrived, as usual, she and her boyfriend came to see Jude Bellingham.

"We're going to Wanda Metropolitano, you should come too. I told Jude you were in town and he got me an extra ticket in case you wanted to come."

You processed the information slowly. Going to Jude's game after having dumped him didn't seem like a good idea to you. However, you got the impression that he wouldn't mind your presence there, since according to Laila, he had made a ticket available just for you.

"Okay, just explain to me how I can get there."

Laila explained to you which subway line to take to get to the stadium. The journey there takes an hour according to Google, but you were willing to face that time inside a carriage.

It's a new and unique experience, you're used to second and third division English league games. Watching a Champions League game in Madrid sounds pretty exciting to you. Even if you still think it wouldn't be a good idea to go because of the situation with Jude.

The minutes inside the subway passed quickly. The surroundings of the stadium were crowded as expected. Laila had arranged to meet you at the entrance reserved for guests and so she did.

"Oh, so glad you came. I wish this game was in Santiago so you could see what it's really like."

She said as she hugged you.

"I have to thank Jude for the invitation, I didn't expect that from him. I thought he was upset about what happened on his birthday."

"It was no big deal, Jude is a nice guy and doesn't care much about that stuff."

You nodded

"Come on, we have to register you so you can stay there with us."

Your friend grabbed your arm and led you to the guest registration area. You received a personalized badge and took a photo to send to your parents.

"You're going to love it."

Laila guided you to the space where she was with the other friends from Bellingham, because it wasn't at Bernabeu, they wouldn't have the right to a box. But, they were right behind the Merengues' bench.

The atmosphere inside the stadium was insane, you felt a different emotion. Everything looked amazing, including Jude Bellingham on the big screen.

"What?" You said to yourself.

Real Madrid were warming up on the pitch and Jude was in his pre-match uniform. Something that made your heart beat faster, Jude was more handsome than the first time you had seen him. There was nothing different about his face, nothing. Just a Real Madrid uniform that enhanced the beauty of the English player.

"Is this the same Jude from your party?" Você perguntou a Laila.

"Himself. Why?"

You looked at her and smiled embarrassedly.

"I think I've changed my mind about him not being my type, I'm going to make him wear that uniform every day."

"You're crazy, but lucky you he didn't forget you." Laila chuckled subtly, "Pray for Real Madrid to win today, I'll talk to him after the game." She blinked.

Your eyes weren't focused on anyone else but Bellingham. When the match started and the pre-match uniform was replaced by the white game shirt, your heart beat faster. Which made you bitterly regret having said that he wasn't your type because of an ugly outfit he wore. You could watch him play all day.

Seeing Jude and watching such an electrifying match got you excited. You were looking forward to talking to Jude.

You two only saw each other in the stadium parking lot hours after the game.

"I'm glad you came." He came up behind you right after he had spoken to his friends.

"Thanks so much for the ticket, Jude! It was a great game, by the way."

He smiled at me.

"Are you doing anything later?" He scratched his head "Laila said you changed your mind."

You were embarrassed, but Jude didn't seem to care.

"Sorry about that." You almost whispered.

"Relax, it happens! Let's start from the beginning."

You smiled at him.

"Take advantage and take him to buy new clothes." Laila passed by you.

Let's chat about Elodie

I'm really cautious to say this but I think Elodie could be alive.

It's unrealistic and optimistic and may undermine the theme of learning to live with grief, not cheating it. But there is something at play here that we're not seeing. The swiftness of Jean's parent's arrest was emphasised as well as the fact that the FBI was going way beyond what was expected of them with no obvious reason to keep Jean safe. These inconsistencies mean something, we're told to look at them, but we don't know why yet. This could be one explanation for them.

A "manhunt" is underway for Elodie instead of her death being announced when Jean's parents are arrested. If she was dead, wouldn't Nora have shown us this by now? In her style, Elodie's death would have been announced officially, and everyone would have been looking at Jean in his vulnerable grief. The details would have been horrible and torturous and we would have seen Jean endure that in this book.

Another inconsistency: Jean's papers were not fudged to get into the USA, his parents planned his sale extensively, non stop exy training from the age of 7, Japenese from 8. He legally and publicly was sent to Edgar Allen. This starkly contrasts with Elodie. No one knows where she is, not just Jean who was kept from knowing anything but the authorities and press: Elodie is expected to be living with the Moreaus when they are arrested. Stuart tells Jean that she was sent to a contact in Morrocco 2 years ago. I feel like it's strongly implied she was sex trafficked. He says she was brutally murdered (implying her body was unrecognisable). These are stark differences in M.O.

This could make sense: they had a plan for Jean, they put him into Exy because they wanted to market him to the Moriyamas who needed his papers to be legit as he was going to be in the public eye and traded to a team after graduation. Whereas with Elodie, they didn't have the same lofty plans for her, they don't care about her, don't want her around and want money/favour so they just toss her out to the first bidder. This tracks with the idea that Jean basically raised Elodie and sheltered her from their parents abuse- they were unable to manipulate her into anything usable, their dynamic in the house quickly fell apart without Jean.

Is Elodie working with law enforcement against the Moreaus? Was this after she was trafficked to Morroco or did she escape from her parents and the Morroco story was a cover they told to other families?

Will she return in the last book? Will Jean take on the role that Kevin and Renee and Jeremy adopted for him? Will he help her heal and learn to live again? Is that the end to his story, him being well enough to help someone else?

It's not just explicit plot points and clues, it's the way the story is being told that's leading me in this direction aswell.

There are opportunities for Jean to fill a brother to characters, but Nora seems to be steering away from that.

She repeats that although Jean loves Cat and Laila fiercely, he is also attracted to them- they are not siblings to him like they are to Jeremy.

His attraction to Annalise is also underlined in their brief meeting.

His brotherly connections (although pretty one-way at this point) to his teammates are focused on through language but i think that's to emphasise that Jean is good and the trojans are recognising that, people want to have connections with him: Tanner fauns over him, Lucas sticks by him even against his dead brother, the double Ds adopt him into the fold, but he doesn't have a strong brotherly bond with any specific person.

Jean is making a family in USC, that is undeniable but I feel like if Elodie was dead, as part of this story Nora would make him an older brother to another character to show that grief doesn't have to bury him, he can 'put' his love for Elodie somewhere, he can still be a brother after his loss.

Instead, it feels like she's saving the worst of his grief over Elodie, allowing him to push it away for this book. I feel like this could end with the grief fully hitting him (maybe after her body is found) in the next book and him dealing with that/ letting his anger out somewhere (I volunteer Bryson).

Or, book 3 could focus on the denoument of the Moreau family. We learned a lot in this book about Jeremy's family that was hinted at in the first book, but we haven't really delved into the Moreaus in the same way. It was hinted at that Jean's mother was his main tormentor, and that there was abuse with a belt- this book we learn she was causally murking children to keep her son under control. But it still feels like it's all behind a curtain. His parents were arrested by interpol, will we see the trial? Will we meet the Moreaus? Will Elodie enter at this point in the story?

It's interesting to me that at the end of TSC, Jean's old name is introduced, but its not fully addressed in TGR, again pushed away for this book. I feel like she's obviously waiting for it to be introduced in a Marseille-related plot line, either his parents or Elodie.

Please please give me your thoughts on this, not to minimise Jeremy's experiences but I'm in serious withdrawl from aftg, hyperfixating like a mf

my jean & neil qpr agenda (part 1?)

after Neil orders the hit and Greyson becomes another Former Raven statistic for the media to go wild with, Jean ends up texting Neil. It's definitely not a thank you, but both of them know it kinda is (prob something like "you're an insufferable disease" lol)

They don't have contact for a while, but one day Neil reaches out by sending Jean the most atrocious multilingual French meme with "Kevin doesn't appreciate me or my humor, this is a hate crime"

It's sporadic from there, and maybe at one point they meet up while Neil and Andrew are on their summer road trip. Neil and Andrew end up in Colorado, and Jeremy, Cat, and Laila practically drag Jean there to see them (he'll deny that he had a good time, but he really did)

Andrew and Jean have a bizarre and interesting dynamic where they don't speak to each other often, but they eventually grow a mutual respect and shoot each other Looks about their "I'm Fine" partners. They don't mind just sitting in the same room and sharing space while they do their separate things.

When Jean and Jeremy start their pottery class, Jean takes to it like a fish to water.

He ends up majoring in Ceramics & Multimedia Art. Something about using his hands to create, rather than destroy.

He makes Neil a little exy racket charm for his keychain.

At one point, Jeremy makes a gc with Jean, Neil, Kevin, and Andrew on impulse. Jean "hates" it but doesn't leave the group chat. Andrew only stays in it because he can mute it, and it's useful for when they plan to meet up sometimes. It also makes Neil happy and it's not something he really minds

Jean also takes LOTS of pictures. With his phone, his friends' phones, a polaroid camera he gets as a gift from Cat, anything he can get his hands on. He hangs them up on his half of the room with Jeremy.

Eventually Jeremy and Jean do get separate rooms. They usually still sleep in the same room, but it's an important milestone for Jean and his recovery. Being able to have his own space, and know he's allowed to control who comes in it.

He decorates that room so much it's chaotic and beautiful and there's probably little pencil doodles on the wall next to his bed from when he can't sleep. He tends to draw daffodils :]

It becomes a bit of a tradition to meet Neil and Andrew every summer.

When they go pro, Jean and Neil end up on teams only a few hours' drive from each other. Neil and Andrew start on the same team, but the whole Minyard-Josten Rivalry is still a Thing because they're always shooting heated Russian at each other while "glaring" and no one else seems to realize it's their equivalent of flirting.

Jean thinks it's hilarious. He harasses Neil about it constantly.

Him and Kevin eventually mend their friendship, and they care about each other a lot.

Neil probably made the three of them matching "I survived Castle Evermore" shirts just to be a menace, and then Jean and Kevin have to make him swear that he'll never wear it in public.

Neil has a habit of just. Showing up at Jean's house and crashing sometimes.

Jeremy at one point jokes that he'll have to fight Neil for Jean's time in the future, but he's not really worried. They're happier when they spend time together. Jeremy and Andrew are chill with it.

When they meet up for the first time after a game between their pro teams, none of their teammates have any clue what's going on. Jean and Neil insult each other ferociously, but also can't seem to resist hip-checks and shoulder bumps and almost affectionate shoves.

Neil constantly sidles up to Jean and pretends like he doesn't know what he's doing. Jean usually responds by absently grabbing his hand so he knows where he is.

They are literally a cat and dog. Neil will deny that he's being caring or affectionate towards Jean all day long while actively attempting to be in Jean's space, and Jean practically perks up when Neil enters a room.

When their teams play against each other, they talk in French sometimes. Their checks are always a bit brutal (they know very well how far the other can be pushed before they break) but they help each other up at the end of quarters.

Jean is constantly antagonizing Neil by smiling and complimenting his striker skills while blocking him, and Neil is constantly taunting him with words that are plenty sharp, but never actually aimed for vital spots

Jean gets a service dog and Jeremy decides to name her Mr. Barkbark Flufferpants, following Andrew & Neil's naming scheme for their cats. They usually just call her "Mr."

When they make Court, the two of them practically live in each other's pockets.

Jeremy and Andrew watch both exasperatedly and amusedly (though Andrew just calls it annoyance when asked) as the two of them dance around their Big Queer Platonic Feelings

When they finally manage to actually communicate about it, it goes something like "Idk what's happening, I'm kinda obsessed with you but it is Not Romantic and I don't know what to do with that." And then "Oh thank hell, me too, I thought I was even weirder than I already am. Wanna go harrass the fbi together?" "No."

At first Kevin gets worried that they're slipping into old habits from the Nest, especially Jean, but when he brings it up to Andrew and Jeremy, Andrew just goes "No, they're idiots." and Jeremy nods and says "I think they're in a honeymoon phase. If we see them slipping, we'll pull them out."

Kevin decides to wait and watch, and thankfully their relationship ends up being as healthy as Neil and Jean can be. There might be a little codependence going on, but they have other people and other grounding forces to help intervene if it seems to be unbalancing.

They both put each other on their emergency contacts list.

It's a common sight to find the two of them twisted into impossible positions together just doing their own things, Jean drawing, Neil watching reruns of Exy matches, whatever.

Their dynamic just becomes Jean, who genuinely grows up to be a pretty chill dude, and Neil, who's an absolute gremlin. Except they kinda absorb each other's personalities, so they're both little shits together. They fit.

There is definitely all sorts of weird conversations that they have at 2AM in little sleepovers they do together (sometimes with Kevin, Jeremy, or Andrew) because they never got that as kids.

I bet Neil mercilessly teases Jean for being allosexual, especially when he gets flustered (all in good fun, of course)

Jean just snarks back with a "shut up, I literally saw you look at Andrew like a besotted elderly man with his partner of fifty years like five minutes ago." Neil sticks out his tongue at him.

Jean actually can sometimes read the ways that Neil and Andrew show affection for each other because of how much time he spends around them, which leads to him occasionally getting confused when other people don't automatically Get It

Neil takes a while to warm up to Jeremy because he seems Too Nice, but once he does he helps Jeremy plan to absolutely torment Jean with silly little romantic gestures that make him flush all the way down to his neck

At one point Neil tries to get Jean to explain what it feels like to be sexually attracted to someone without knowing them really closely, and it leads to a really surprisingly deep conversation about attraction before it turns into neil making dick jokes.

Cat and Laila still keep in close contact with Jean, as well as Renee. They make sure to meet up as often as they can. Cat and Jean always go for a bike ride together and they all cook dinner as a group.

They're both cuddle monsters when in the right mood. They also have the convenient ability to fall asleep Anywhere when they feel safe. So finding them curled up together in weird places at home is pretty commonplace.

They're forever partners, not in the way that the world and the Nest tried to make them be, but in a way that they created themselves.

It doesn't have to be romantic to be special, and if anyone ever suggested that they should be in a romantic relationship, they would both look at that person with absolute judgement and disgust. This person interrupted their conversation. They were talking shit about someone. Neil is lounging in Jean's lap. Andrew is saying he hates them both, and Jeremy is cackling at it all while taking a low-res picture for Cat and Laila.

Round two with the Trojans,

(Trojans versus the Foxes game)

Within the hour, Jeremy has a platoon of pre-teens lined up and ready to march into the mouth of hell for him. They absolutely idolise him, and they listen as loyally when he's running through drills as they do when he's got them in a huddle planning out an attack on Kevin and his kids. (It turns into a full-on pranking feud).

Jean hates the idea with everything in him, but the coaches and Jeremy tell him it's important so he does his best. At first he's a bit awkward but then he actually bonds with the popular girls and spends the whole time gossiping with them Gina from B99 style, insulting the foxes up and down and going full mean-girl. The kids he works with start throwing out all these extremely cutting and specific insults and everyone's like Jean, you can't teach children to call Kevin son of a whore in French!

Cat just straight up loves the kids and they love her. They think she is THE coolest person they've ever met and look at her with massive heart eyes. They all beg her to see her motorbike.

Laila is hanging with the quiet kids, and the chillers, they're talking about movies and music and stuff and enjoying the show when the prank war breaks out.

TGR TIMELINE

As I did with TKM and then TSC, I needed a more detailed timeline for fic and meta reference, so here it is for anyone who needs it! [I will tag for the obvious, gigantic book spoiler, but in case you needed the reminder: SPOILERS AHEAD]

June 29, Friday: Team meeting where it's announced that Grayson is not allowed on campus. Lucas explains that Grayson tried to kill Jean. Xavier finds out that Ravens weren't allowed access to medicines. They have a picnic later, Jeremy receives a text from one of his hookups and Laila disapproves. Jean reminisces how when he was still in France his mother had killed his first captain and her entire family because Jean had talked about something else that wasn't Exy with them. Police shows up, and Jeremy gets a call that alerts him that Grayson is dead. They are interrogated, and we learn that Jeremy's stepfather has two brothers in the LAPD and his father in Congress. Later, Rhemann drives them to Laila and Cat's house, and he tells Jeremy that Jean would be the most obvious suspect for Grayson's death if it weren't for his rock-solid alibi. Jeremy tells him that Jean was with Neil the night before. Jeremy gets a call from his father, then gets back inside. “Pop. How easily these monsters die in the end.” Jeremy gets a message from Joshua, then drops his phone into his mug of coffee. Jeremy decides to learn French for Jean. Jean admits he wanted Kevin dead so he wouldn't have to keep his promise with him. Jeremy goes to dinner at his family's, his mother pressures him into taking the LSAT, then rudely asks if Jeremy has already slept with Jean and insists he should get together with Laila because it would be good for his grandfather's votes. We get more clear hints on Jeremy's background story which involve Bryson and drugs. Jeremy has sex with Leo, then goes to Cat and Laila's. Jean finds out that Jeremy wants to take the LSAT and doesn't approve because it will ruin his Exy prospects. "There you are. You go away when you go home."

June 30, Saturday: The press tries to get Lucas to talk but the entire family shuts them down. Rhemann and Jeremy make a joint statement, followed by the LAPD declaring Jean's innocence. Grayson's case is closed as a suicide.

July 2, Monday: Jeremy gives Jean the new code to court. The Trojans pay more attention to Jean. Cody gives Jean a peach, Derrick and Derek seek him out to chat. Later at lunch break Cody invites Jean to a campus tour while Laila and Cat will go to a museum and Jeremy will see Bishop. In the afternoon, Jean helps Derrick with his form. He then tries to help Nabil and Derek. Tanner asks him to teach him Raven drills. Cody explains Jean his class schedule, then they go to dinner with Pat and Ananya but Jean doesn't eat anything and the others learn of his issues with food. Jean calls Bee and decide for a session the next day. Cody accompanies Jean back home, he hears Jean's accent when he says "Jeremy." “Eat?” “Ate. It was good.” ":)"

July 4, Wednesday: Cat, Laila, Jeremy and Jean learn about Jean's birthday. Later they go out, first to Jeremy's house to make food, then to the beach. While they're at Jeremy's Jean finds out that Jeremy lost a sibling four years earlier. They go to the beach, Xavier explains to Jean that his scars are from top surgery. They watch fireworks later, though Jeremy mostly looks at Jean.

July 5, Thursday: Rhemann allows Jean to teach Raven drills. The schedule for their matches comes out.

July 9, Monday: Lucas comes back to the team. Jean manages to stop himself from hitting Mads while teaching Raven drills.

July 17, Tuesday: Lucas goes back to talking to everyone except Jean. Jean gets 4 pupils in total for Raven drills. We learn that several times a week Cat teaches Jean how to ride a motorcycle.

July 22, Sunday: Jeremy sends a text to Kevin in support for Aaron's trial starting the 23rd.

July 23, Monday: Andrew is among the first called to testify, Bee is with him. That afternoon Kevin is called, then on Tuesday Nicky, who gets into a fight with his parents. Katelyn is only absent on the day Andrew testifies.

July 25, Wednesday: No verdict. Laila brushes Jean's hair.

July 26, Thursday: Aaron is cleared of all charges.

August 3, Friday: The Ravens send Jean his car. Jean says that he doesn't want it. Rhemann offers to take it from them while they figure out what to do with it. Jeremy suggests selling it. Kevin tells Jeremy that his car arrived, too, together with his notes and textbooks.

August 10, Friday: Kevin and Andrew arrive to LA. Kevin tells Jeremy that the Foxes have split in two, with the freshmen uniting against Neil, and Jeremy innocently says that he thought Neil would come again to see Jean. Kevin and Andrew knew nothing about that. Jeremy tries to appease them by saying that it was good Neil was there since he became Jean's alibi, but that info makes things worse. Once they arrive, Kevin helps Jean choose an outfit. Jeremy notices how Jean looks at Kevin and Jean reacts strongly when caught. Cat gets Kevin to help with arepas. "We can't all be perfect" "You are close enough to count." Kevin and Jeremy go out and Kevin tells him why he didn't speak up in Jean's defense in the spring.

August 11, Saturday: Jean finds out that Kevin drinks. Kevin and Jean's interview. Hannah discovers that Jean's family has been arrested and derails the interview to make it fit on top of obviously favoring the Ravens. Kevin shuts down every lead she has to cover for Jean. After Hannah tries to talk about Jean's family's, Jean takes a break and Andrew follows him outside to ask if Grayson touched Neil, and if Neil killed him. Jean tells Andrew he'll be too slow to save Neil if he doesn't quit smoking. They go back home, Renee's necklace breaks, Cat says she can fix it using one of Laila's. Jean gives them the version of their backstory he decided with Neil. Jeremy calls Rhemann to tell him how the interview went. Kevin finds out about Jean's destroyed postcards. Bryson tries to confront Jeremy, Jean slams him into Laila's car. “I am your partner. It is my place to assess and handle threats against you, not hers. Let me go.”

August 13, Monday: The team is warned about increased risk of scrutiny and trespassing journalists. Lucas confronts Jean about him being 19 and the implications for Grayson. Emma gives Jean band-aids.

August 16, Thursday: We find out that Jeremy is being financially controlled by his mother, who also hid his passport. Jeremy gets jealous when Jean and Annie check each other out.

August 17, Friday: Jeremy signs for the LSAT so his mother will let him stay at Laila and Cat's for the last week before classes started.

August 18, Saturday: Jeremy accompanies Jean to the psychiatrist and finds out Jean can't ride elevators. Jean asks about Jeremy's last name, and Jeremy reveals he's thinking of changing it to something else he hasn't yet decided. Kevin sends Jean a new postcard.

August 27, Monday: Jeremy finds the paper with the guillotine. Start of the school year. There are reporters waiting for Jean and Jeremy. First pottery class together. When they get home after practice, there's again a reporter on their doorstep who tells Jeremy that the address was leaked by an anonymous tip.

August 28, Tuesday: Reporters start pressing on campus and USC closes the gates.

August 31, Friday: Jeremy is officially off to therapy, but returns with someone else's shirt on. Cody arrives and when they start talking about the fall banquet, Jeremy leaves with an excuse. Cody tells Jean half of Jeremy's backstory: Noah was his plus-one at the fall banquet 4 years ago, then Jeremy left for a party and Noah was left alone at the hotel where he jumped over the roof. Cody leaves hints that Jeremy had something else going on and he needed help, but Noah's death worsened things.

September 1, Saturday: Fall banquet. While on the bus, Jeremy speaks a little French with Jean, and Jeremy decides he'll find a way to learn Marseille French. “No one will take you seriously if you learn French with a southern accent.” “Does that really matter? I’m not learning French for anyone but you.” Jean chats with the other teammates (including Lucas, who's coming around to accepting Grayson's responsibility in Jean's abuse) and then when he goes back to Jeremy he teaches him a phrase in French if he needs a break at the fall banquet. They reach their hotel room, Jeremy tries to get Jean's attention by stripping, Jean crowds him on the bed to ask him about the phrase he taught him. "The details cannot matter tonight. You are my captain and my partner; that is all I need to know. I will stand with you against them." "You and me against the world." Then Jeremy works on Jean's tie and Jean fixes Jeremy's collar. At the banquet the Bobcats immediately antagonize both Jeremy and Jean. Their goalkeeper harasses Jeremy until Jean intervenes, but it all gets to Jeremy anyway and he asks Jean to go out for a smoke. The Trojans do their best to introduce Jean in a positive way. Jeremy hooks up with Faser. He comes back with bruises on his neck and the group confronts him on that. Once they're alone, "Tell me about the cocaine." We get the rest of Jeremy's backstory. “You are my partner. My success is your success; your failure is my failure. Do not ever backslide, Jeremy. I will not forgive you.” “Cat has never bruised Laila like this.” “Maybe Laila’s not as good with her tongue.”

September 6, Thursday: Jean receives hate spam and a few normal letters. Harry Rogeson, a Raven freshman is found dead on a shuttle bus. During the pre-match warm up, Cat asks Jean if he's ever been in love, we learn that he was in love with Kevin, but Riko reacted violently when he realized.

HOME GAME: Trojans vs Bobcats The Bobcats turn violent soon, but the Trojans keep up with them, and Jean sees with his own eyes how good the team is. “You are very good,” he said to Jeremy. “I finally understand why Kevin admires this team.” Halftime ends with the Trojans two points up. Jean and Jeremy play in second half. Jean uses Cat's "Have a winning day" on Hinch and gets immediately punched. He's replaced by Lander, who gets more violent and surpasses Jean. Jean hits himself before going after him, helping Laila block the second shot at goal. Trojans score, and then three players, Jean and Jeremy included, are replaced. They get checked for injuries, and Rhemann warns Jean he doesn't want to see him hurt himself. "It makes you interesting. Not your capacity for unkindness, but how fiercely you fight against it." The match ends 9-6, Trojan's favor.

Reporters interview Jeremy and Jean post-game. They invite Zane to talk to Jean, and when they walk away to talk in private, it quickly gets violent. "You should have let me die." "I should have. But you were my partner, once. That meant something to me even if it meant nothing to you." When Zane tells him he should 'get over' what happened to him in January, Jean punches him. Lucas hears the commotion and Zane mistakes him for Grayson, Jean stops Zane from attacking him and Lucas calls for help. When Zane keeps on insulting Jean, Rhemann comes and punches Zane. Rhemann takes Jean to another room, and Jean breaks down.

September 7, Friday: Jean wakes up at Rhemann's house where he meets Adi. Jeremy comes pick him up, tries to get Jean to at least make a statement against Zane, and Jean throws back at him that he's still refusing to care about his own bruises caused by Faser. "You deserve better than that." "Fuck what I deserve. What about what I want?" "I don't ever want to go back to how things were. Maybe you are fools, and I am the biggest fool for indulging you, but better to be reckless fools than Ravens." Jeremy confirms to Jean that Rhemann and Adi are together. "Fireworks. Fathers." They go back home. "GOLDEN RAVEN SOARS IN DEBUT" title drop. Jeremy accompanies Jean to the doctor. "I deserve to get better." "You do. And you will."

September 11, Tuesday: PSU interview for the upcoming match against the Ravens. Kevin and Neil have to speak together, and Neil says that Jean's injuries involved his ribs. Kevin ends the comment saying that the reporters should ask the Ravens since that's the only side they're interested in, even if Ravens only say what they're told to say. Renee and Andrew are next, and Renee will suggest they ask the right Ravens for the truth. Jeremy watches from his family's house, and William gives him options for tutors that could teach him the Marseille accent.

September 14, Friday: The team arrives in Utah and gathers to watch at least half of the Foxes match before they have to prepare for their own game. Jean accidentally calls Tetsuji "master" in front of the team.

HOME GAME: Foxes vs Ravens Almost as soon as the game starts, the Ravens attack the Foxes. Once the Ravens are sent away, the game gets postponed to a later date yet to be defined. Yellow cards to Matt and Aaron; red card to Dan, and red card plus a 5-game suspension to Andrew. The Ravens all get red cards.

Neither Jeremy nor Jean play. Some Utes' players blame the Foxes for the Ravens' behavior. Rhemann tells the team that the ERC has suspended the Ravens for the rest of the season. Jean calls Renee and finds out that Neil has two fractured ribs, and Andrew a fractured clavicle that might need surgery. "How Jean’s kind heart had survived a place like Evermore, Jeremy wasn’t sure."

AWAY GAME: Trojans vs Utah 7-6, Trojan's favor.

While on the bus on the way back, Laila gets a call: their house was set on fire by three men. They get on a flight to be faster.

September 15, Saturday: They check the house, even though it's 4AM and it's too dark to see properly. Wymack calls Jean to check on him. Jean asks him how he can protect his friends when Ravens only listen to other Ravens, Wymack tells him they'll think of something. They go to sleep at the hotel where Kevin and Andrew stayed. The next morning Jeremy gets an angry call from his mother. Jean asks Laila and Cat about the Wilshires and Dermotts. The FBI shows up offering witness protection from Jean but he turns it down, so they choose another apartment that the FBI can monitor closely. The new apartment allows pets. They invite the floozies. Andrew has his surgery.

September 16, Sunday: Jeremy drives Jean to his doctor, and while Jean has his session, Jeremy goes to his own doctor, Dr. Spader. They have an agreement where Spader still charges weekly sessions but gives back the money for one each month, giving Jeremy cash that can't be traced by his mother. On the TV Jeremy sees that Kevin is giving a statement with Thea behind him. Then Aaron arrives driving Andrew's car, with Andrew and Neil as passengers. Andrew crushes his cigarette instead of smoking it. Neil welcomes Thea letting the reporters know she had already been there months before when Jean was with them. Thea berates the Ravens for not living up to his legacy and calling them cowards. Jeremy goes back to pick Jean up, they then go to the dealership to sell Jean's car. Jeremy goes back to his family's house where he has an angry Warren telling him to stay put, then Cat and Jean visit him with their new matching bikes.

September 17, Monday: The new Ravens' captain (who attacked Neil) dies, then Brayden and Cameron (who attacked Andrew) too.

September 18, Tuesday: Jeremy's parents are away until Sunday, and Laila/Cat/Jean visit him to stay until Saturday. Jean tells Jeremy that he shares the blame for these deaths because he had asked Wymack how he could protect them, and his answer had been Thea. “I am not sorry. Perhaps I should be. But I will choose you every time. You, and Cat, and Laila, every time. I will lose them all if I must.”

September 19, Wednesday: They go back to their new apartment. Lyle Holden is hospitalized. In the afternoon Edgar Allan releases a statement but only to introduce the new Coach, Coer, a member of the Ravens' original lineup and the team's first captain. Jean contacts Lyle's partner Sergio.

September 20, Thursday: Sergio replies, saying that Lyle had been sent home.

September 21, Friday:

HOME GAME: Trojans vs Las Vegas 9-4, Trojans' favor.

We learn Jeremy receives three calls a day by his mother.

September 21, Saturday: Mathilda calls at dawn completely ignoring the time. Jean notices the obvious lack of trust.
