MMKM Episode 2: Opinions

Miss Me? Keys Mi

This is the second episode in the Miss Me? Keys Mi series.

Background: Following Keys' insecurities from the last episode, Millie and Keys now have differing opinions about the future of their game, causing a conflict.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

You know the best part about games? They allow you to indulge in activities that would seem unreasonable, or rather, impossible in reality. A lot of people view games as an escape from reality. A coping mechanism, of sorts. There's that too, of course.

For something that meant so much to so many people around the world, it was worth understanding how these games were developed and how they functioned. I still remember the time I opted for game development as my elective, clear as day. I wonder what things would be like had I chosen a different elective.

Life Itself probably wouldn't have existed.

Nor would have Guy.

Worst of all, I wouldn't have met Keys.

"Millie?" Keys asked, spinning his swivel chair around to face me.

"Yup?" I said, pulling down my headphones.

"Well, I have good news and bad news." Keys sighed.

I blinked at him, looking into his eyes. His eyes twinkled, accompanied by what seemed to me like a faint smile that gently tugged on the corners of his lips.

Mouser snorted in his sleep, ruining the moment. Keys cleared his throat and diverted his attention back to what he originally intended to say.

"The good news is that our unique visitors have gone up by 87% since last month."

"That's great!"

"Umm… the bad news is that not all of them created Free Life accounts. Our servers are running out of space and uh- that's making the game laggy for some users. Bad user experience."

Keys turned back to his laptop and drew up some statistics. I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at him.

"We're running on GCP right now?"

"Yeah," Keys answered. "I think it might be time to switch to AWS."

"But that'd mean shutting the game down while we moved to AWS. We could lose players, Keys." I frowned.

"If we continued with GCP, players would eventually leave anyway because of the lag, Mills."

"Yeah, but- but, we have only just started out. We don't have any godfathers in the gaming industry."

"It's better that we don't. We had one, and I think both of us know how that turned out."

Keys furrowed his eyebrows. A tense silence lingered in the air.

"Where would we arrange the funds from? I don't want to commercialise a game we made with so much love..."

"Neither do I. We'll figure something out. Maybe we'll try our luck at a convention or something- wait a minute, the IGC San Francisco is coming up!" His face lit up in excitement.

I walked over to the couch, collapsing onto it. This was a bad idea. If we were to leave, our game wouldn't make the cut. I hugged my knees to my chest.

"In the time that we were gone, the game could collapse on itself, Keys." I croaked.

Keys looked at me sadly.

"If we want our game to survive in the long run, we have to take a risk now, Mills." He sighed. "Anyway, chuck that. We'll talk about it later."

I pressed my palms to my face. This was terrible. We had just started Free Life a month ago. We couldn't shut it down already. Who knows, the move might even reset Guy. And I really didn't want to lose him. Keys had poured his heart out into making him. I wanted to treasure Guy as a souvenir of Keys' cute, subtle, innocent confession, and my dumb, obscure self.

"You know," Keys chuckled. "I am flattered that you find my love letter cute."

I could feel my cheeks heating up to a billion degrees.

"I said that out loud, didn't I?" I pursed my lips, bringing the long sleeves of my turtleneck up to my mouth.

He simply smiled at me, his eyes skimming my face. From the Keys who couldn't even bring himself to smile at me without shying away, to the Keys who now boldly held my gaze, it's been one hell of a transformation. Locking my eyes with his, I walked over to him and settled on his thigh. Almost instinctively, he wrapped his arms around me, as if to keep us from toppling off the swivel chair.

I'm not kidding, that has happened before, and Mouser had quite the laugh back then.

"You know, Keys?" I said softly. "Maybe I'm not a loser after all."

"You never were, Mills."

"I won my lawsuit against Antwan, I've got a lovely game up and running," I tilted my head and smiled as I fixed my eyes on the framed photograph from the Seattle Indie Game Convention. "And, I've got the sweetest best friend-slash-partner-slash-boyfriend in the whole freaking world."

The last part brought a wide smile on Keys' face.

"You know, you're cute when you brag." He grinned sheepishly.

I laughed.

"You really wanna switch roles, huh?" I took his glasses off and set them down on the desk beside us. He looked at me, his hand resting carefully on my shoulder, as my fingers gently combed through his hair.

"Oh, my. You need to drop your haircare routine. Now."

Keys laughed before his lips met mine. We kissed for a long, long time.

"Mills, I think you should attend this year's Indie Game Convention in San Francisco. It'll be a great place to strike up some sponsorship deals. AWS is going to be expensive for a game like ours. We don't have that kind of money on us."

So much for talking about it later.

I looked at him briefly before I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"The IGC was where we sold off our game to Antwan. I don't want to make a mistake like that one again."

"Antwan was an asshole. Forget him. There will be a lot of other sponsors. You'll do great."

"I'm still a little worr- wait, what do you mean by 'you'll do great'? You're not coming?"

Keys smiled gently, before pursing his lips sadly.

"Someone needs to keep the game up and running. Like you said, the game could collapse on itself while we were gone." Keys said.

I frowned. Keys should have tagged along. I knew how much he loved attending such conventions. It wasn't fair.

"I think you should go. I'll stay."

"No, Mills. I can't speak well enough to convince investors. You'd do that better." He paused and smiled. "You've always been better than me. At that, especially. I know why you want me to go. Trust me, I'll be fine."

"Are you sure?" I asked him, cupping his cheek with my palm.

"I'll be fine." He rested his hand on mine and smiled before placing a little kiss on my cheek.

"Millie, take Maya with you," Mouser said nonchalantly from his spot on the couch, holding a box of strawberries.

Instinctively, I got off Keys' lap and tucked a lock of my hair behind my ear. Keys straightened his shirt.

"Maya who?" Keys asked.

"My girlfriend. She has worked as an AWS Cloud Engineer in the past. Now, she works as a backend supervisor in Epic Games. She can help out." Mouser walked over to us.

Keys and I blinked at him. Rather too blankly.

"Questions?"

"She will?" I asked. "Won't Epic Games have a problem with that?"

"Nope. Don't worry about that." He said, popping a strawberry in his mouth. "Keys, questions?"

"Since when do you have a girlfriend?"

You ever think of how crazy redstone could get in-universe?

Like strip away the game elements and the processing power needed to run it, and just have like. A world with redstone machines in it, running completely independently of each other, only relying on the calculations that they themselves run. Sure, a redstone machine could get laggy if it’s big enough or complicated enough, or just not optimized properly, but it would hardly effect anything unconnected nearby.

How many contraptions would just be... laying around? How big and complex a machine a good redstoner could make off in their own corner, or how many smaller redstone machines would be built into their bases to make life a little easier. Even people who don’t have the skills or know-how to work with redstone might be just that little bit more willing to add some quality of life features to the homes they live in 24/7. Or, conversely, if the general pool of redstone knowledge in this world would be higher then what you see in the gaming community, given that this is a system people would assumingly have grown up with/is so vital to living in this world, they’d just pick things up more.

You could even take those who have a lot of random, fun builds- take Mumbo Jumbo and his series where he builds silly redstone ideas for instance, and port them into survival. No alternate worlds to blink into to build whatever you want for no cost- just the one world you live in, and how much storage space do you think Mumbo has? (Assuming he doesn’t dismantle him when he’s done, but there’s a fun idea in here about someone needing to borrow something from Mumbo, and having to shift through increasingly bizarre and unlikely machines he’s made in the past to find it, while struggling to understand what some of these are for or even do). Or take some of the things Tango gets up to- you’ve got everydays things sure, like his iron farms, but this is also a man whose made entire other games within vanilla minecraft. He’s probably got an entire section of storage just for the notes and blueprints he made to keep track of everything, and just imagine what he’d get up to if he wasn’t restricted by the limitations of the game itself. (And don’t even get us started on what Doc’s gotten up to this season-)

Alternatively, there is a way you could bring lag back into things- perhaps redstone relies on power pulled from the environment around it, either some kind of magical force or outright pulling energy out of the plants and energy sources around it. For one, this means that the more redstone machines you have in one place, and the bigger they are, the more they’d collectively begin to stutter and lag as they compete against each other for energy. You could break a redstone machine without even touching it, but instead just... pouring a bag of redstone on the ground nearby and powering it. Even storing the stuff could have an added layer of difficulty, especially for those that are passionate about the profession.

Two, if it really is pulling it’s energy source straight from the environment around it, this could mean that places with a high number of machines could start to see less wild and plant life. You’d want to ensure only a few of them are going at once at any given time, and a redstoner would need to stay nearby while it worked, ensuring nothing went wrong or they could make an emergency stop if need be. People who work on them could end up feeling tired after long exposure, needing to ensure more breaks to avoid injury. (In other words, an in-universe explanation for going afk)

(It’d also had an extra layer of depth to the people who don’t work with redstone who are also adamant about refusing to work with it. Who decide it’s not worth the risk, and wave off any attempts to learn about it in the first place. A huge gap between the people who have spent their life researching this stuff and those that wouldn’t touch a T flip-flop with a ten foot pole)

Sims 3 Packs Tier List

Wow those icons ended up looking way smaller than I thought they would.

Explanations under the cut

100% worth the purchase, absolutely necessary: Ambitions, Generations, Seasons

Ambitions adds a ton of pseudo-active careers to the game as well as many additions, like a robust self-employment option. Overall it’s just a great pack to have around.

Generations adds a ton of gameplay for sims of all ages, which is great because the content for Teens and under is usually pretty lackluster to start with. Toddlers and kids get Imaginary Friends, Kids can do sleepovers and the like, Teens can learn to drive and go to prom and throw wild and crazy house parties while their parents are away, Adults get bachelor(ette) parties and mid-life crises, and Elders get a few fun toys like canes and ye ol’ ��back in my day” remembering.

Seasons is great. Weather is great. The little holidays are nice, the festivals are nice, just a generally enjoyable pack that adds a lot of realism.

Great: University

I wouldn’t say it’s a must have, but it’s a pretty fun diversion for sims. The only thing I hate are the annoying social groups and, frankly, a degree really isn’t all that necessary. There’s also the unfortunate fact that your sim has to travel away to university, leaving all of your other sims dormant in the meantime and unable to be visited.

Good, but get it on sale: Late Night, Pets, Supernatural, High End Loft Stuff

I love the city aesthetic of Late Night but it can be really buggy and laggy.

I don’t really enjoy playing with pets that much, and they can break the game in some cases (Nraas is a must have here). The world is really nice though.

Supernatural is great for if you play frequently with supernaturals, as it lets you make basically all of them right from the start. I don’t really play with them that much though, and I don’t really like the world. Make sure you turn off the obnoxious zombies.

Forgettable: Showtime, Into the Future

Showtime basically does everything Late Night does but in a less interesting way.

Into the Future is a very fun pack, you can tell they went all out with it... but if you don’t like weird Sci-Fi elements in your sims games then this is absolutely not for you.

DO NOT BUY: World Adventures, Island Paradise

These two hurt me because I actually love both of these packs beyond belief, but...

I don’t know about anyone else but I actually had a LOT of issues with World Adventures. It would lag and corrupt my game CONSTANTLY and it’s the only pack I have never ever played with beyond the first few months. I even uninstall it from my hard drive completely.

I love Island Paradise, but it’s literally unplayable. The Sims 3 is already laggy enough as it is but Island Paradise, especially with other packs installed, can literally break your game. The only thing I use are the mermaids because god I love mersims.

Stuff Pack and Store Content Mediocrity Land: Literally every single stuff pack aside from High End Loft Stuff and all of the store content worlds.

The stuff packs are very YMMV. Personally I don’t like anything in them really. The store content worlds are VERY pricey for what you get, especially since Sims 3 had a Create a World tool that let you make and download other people’s worlds, that were usually just as good if not better, for free.

Is it worth it to get sky? I want to get into it but I don’t know if I should and I want your advice

Hi sweet anon!

Short answer: Since you are already showing interest in it, I’d say go ahead and try! I find it gorgeous and relaxing and the community is awesome. It is free(!) to download and play, easy to start and learn and also easy to stop at anytime! So you won’t really lose money or even much time if you decide to see what’s it all about. You’ll only be one experience richer!

That’s about it in a nutshell, but then I also went and wrote longer loveletter version if anyone’s interested so here goes:

I remember visiting foreign country with my family when I was like, 4. I had a five-minute-friendship there with a local fellow kiddo. We didn’t share language, I don’t know how toddlers use telepathetic powers to connect, but that’s what we did. I remember holding hands with her and leading her and showing her to my parents with pride.

Somehow, Sky has managed to capture just that, that effortless way children co-exist and socialize in a world full of wonder.

These five-minute-friendships with other players might be my favourite thing. It’s like that feeling in real life where you open the door to a stranger and they smile and thank you. In Sky I run about on my own business and casually interact with others along the way, dance on the ice with a stranger, help to recharge a stranger, exchange polite bows with a stranger. They are little things that give me joy in this godforsaken year of isolation.

At first I was a bit wary of the social aspect and found it almost overwhelming to always have other players around me. But the community is possibly the nicest gaming community I’ve ever seen. (To be fair, I haven’t seen many communities.) People are out there to have a good time! You can choose if you want to engage in socializing or not and other players are usually very respectful if you choose not to. It feels very welcoming place to be in thanks to them. I might log in just to sit around and chill and feel at ease.

Of course, if you’re not an antisocial hermit like I am at times, it is a place where groups of friends hang out and have fun together! (Even I have managed to form lasting friendships, which I thought couldn’t be possible when I started.)

It’s easy to pick up and easy to put down, it doesn’t take up much time, and that’s a plus for me. I’ve been struggling lately to make time for gaming. It has started to feel like a commitment (”I can’t start this 50 hours+ game!”) and a waste of time (”How can I play when I could be i m p r o v i n g myself?”), which is absurd since I enjoy playing. Adulthood I guess. Sky has helped me to lower my bar, I might play 15-minutes per day and feel satisfied. I might decide to play longer than that and feel satisfied! It’s just that easy to casually grab the phone and have fun while drinking the morning coffee. It helps to remember that it’s okay to do things just for enjoyment and relaxation. (And on the days you’re truly short on time, it’s also a plus that you can indeed stop at 15 minutes!)

And yes, it is free. It has no free trials that expire or ads to plague and pressure you into buying some kind of ”full version”. Personally, I don’t feel pressured to buy any in-app purchases! I have done some, but it was after becoming familiar with the game and deciding that yes, I do want to invest my time to Sky. But they are not mandatory!

Last but not least: So visually gorgeous and enchanting soundscape. It’s better to go and experience them than try to put into words here.

No game is perfect of course. Some possible negatives include:

Repetitious. Once you feel you’ve seen everything in the overarching storyline , existential crisis hits the skychild! Some focus on collectibles, some start OOBing, some come around only to play the seasons that occur every few months. This issue ties in with the:

Grinding. The game can get grindy in a long run. It can get exhausting if you start to feel inclined to get all the time-limited cosmetics and rewards. I’m trying to avoid this gotta-catch-em-all –mentality and get only what I really like, not because I feel I ”must” have something because everyone else does . Some enjoy it tho, no judgment here!

System requirements. The game is heavy! My previous phone was laggy, my current overheats if I try to use higher fps. It drains the battery fast. It can take away from the enjoyment if your phone is older.

Controls. Well, that no longer bothers me but it was an obstacle in the beginning. Having never played a mobile game like Sky, the controls felt awkward and frustrating even. They feel natural today, but it took commitment to get past the awkwardness.

If you decide to visit the sky kingdom, welcome!

MMORPGs I’ve played (that I would recommend trying)

Riders of Icarus (6/10) Clunky mechanics in a beautiful world with an incredibly fun and interesting collection system for mounts. Daily rewards are valuable, but getting them means playing with bad controls and laggy gameplay. The interface is garbage, the quality control on the general experience is lackluster, but damn if I don’t keep coming back to this pretty trash fire.

Guild Wars 2 (4/10) The world is vast and there’s a lot to do. Too much to do. You will be ambushed by things to do. If you do not want things to do, things will be thrown at you. Mechanics change constantly with weapons, but classes do not. Cities are huge and empty, but the players seem nice. Quests are cute, but too much emphasis is placed on the “living world” aspect of the game without any real clarity on what the world is about more broadly.

Final Fantasy XIV (8/10) Finally, an MMORPG I really, really enjoy. Not just in its mechanics and stuff to do, but in its quality of quests and narrative. Very surprising, considering it’s the first Final Fantasy game I’ve actually liked. Despite the typical “chosen one” narrative, the story feels organic and inclusive regardless of the character you make. Characters are not locked to a single class and can train to be every class in the game. Cutscenes are fantastic and worth watching. Damned shame about that mandatory main quest in order to do anything, but with one easy payment of $11 in addition to your subscription, you too can enjoy having alts.

The Elder Scrolls Online (7/10) An MMORPG that aims for MMO teamwork mixed with action game mechanics. No QTEs, but the staples of MMORPGs--tanks, healers, melee dps, ranged dps, etc--are vague to make room for more build customization. May take some getting used to, but housing is accessible and subscribing has big cosmetic, gameplay, and quality of life benefits. Subscribing is not mandatory for a good experience, though.

World of Warcraft (6/10) Longtime players seem to be the saltiest about this one. Unfortunately, I’m a longtime player. The game’s mechanics are solid, classes are solid (also rigid), and the game is solid from a technical standpoint. Glitches are seldom a problem and aren’t common to begin with. Still, there’s no housing, character customization is limited, and the endgame is all grind all the time. But despite all this, I have yet to see an MMORPG that matches the sheer charm and quality of interface to be found in WoW. (Rest in peace, Wildstar; you tried.)

my thoughts on pokemon sword (and shield but like i got sword so thats where my game experience comes from) now that ive finished the game

there be spoilers below! this a really really long post too btw

first of all, omg. that was really fun actually?? i went into it expecting something awful and just a clear cash grab (but i bought it bc the pokemon company owns my soul and i’m obligated to buy a game every gen) but it was actually really well made.

there was a lot of really nice things and little details in this game that really made it a masterpiece in some regards. you can just SEE the love and care that was put into it. it breaks my heart that they obviously wanted to make something amazing but a lot of that potential got cut short by the producers/overseers.

the colors were brighter and richer than the other models on the 3ds

the backgrounds were more detailed and actually looked like real areas you could get to

the wild area. holy shit the wild area.

some of the new move animations were really cool to watch, like pyro ball

this is controversial but i really like the interesting evolution methods?? it’s new and fresh, and you get a feeling of accomplishment once you actually evolve something

the moveable camera in the wild area was awesome

pokemon in the overworld was AMAZING. and TERRIFYING when a galvantula runs at you at breakneck speed. but it was so cute to see them just out there living their life.

textures were another hit or miss thing, but i liked most of them. some of the pokemon looked glossy, or fuzzy, or partly transparent, or matte.

the little details that didnt really add anything but once you noticed them were kinda cool to find, like square shinies or marks or ribbons (i know ribbons are an old thing but the phrases that they add)

i liked that the crowds sing along sometimes

the camping feature was adorable. ive always wanted nintendogs: pokemon version and this allowed me to live out my dreams

cooking reminded me of making poffins so thats 10 points to gryffindor

DARK !!! TYPE!!! GYM LEADER!!!!!!!! i love piers and he is ABSOLUTELY MY TYPE

actually all the character designs were really good? i loved all the gym leaders. opal was pretty cool. i love raihan he’s hilarious. melony is pretty. i would marry piers.

bede is perfect. love that babby. a good asshole rival. i also like that they showed a more masculine person as a fairy (typically feminine-like) trainer. also also i headcanon that he/they is/are nonbinary bc i crave representation

i will protect hop with my life. they really made him go through a crisis and i felt so bad when i whooped his ass :( first time ive ever felt bad for winning a pokemon battle.

no unnecessary legendaries! all of them had actual importance to the plot and there werent 400 of them

some of the pokemon designs were good, and some were outright amazing. you look at me in the eye and tell me you dont love dreepy? that eternatus isnt badass as fuck? that applin isnt adorable as shit? that you wouldnt murder for snom? thats right motherfucker

music and ambient sounds are so good. sometimes the music cuts out in the wild area at night and all you hear are the background noises and your own footsteps ans THATS the good shit

toby fox made a song in it if that doesnt convince you the music is good idk what will

slumbering weald (the song and place) makes me feel emotions i didnt know i had. so pretty. 2nd fav pokemon song.

zacian and zamazenta were SO COOL and that final fight against eternatus made me fucking ascend i loved it

character customaziation was off the shits for this one

league cards are cool as fuck and i wish i had a real one of mine

there were some things that were just. a miss.

some of the animations were. lackluster to say the least. double kick (just bouncing in place) vs pyro ball (actually ppicking a pebble up and tossing it until it becomes a flaimg ball) was painfully obvious

textures were either really good or blurry and offset (ex: the tree everyone always talks about)

i wish there were more ways to play with pokemon when you camped. i wish there were more toys than there are and i wish i could pet my pokemon. that was one thing i really enjoyed about pokemon amie

this game is LAGGY AS SHIT if you are connected to the internet. it freezes my switch sometimes. literally cannot handle it in the wild area. and i thought sun and moon were bad.

why. in the FUCK would they get rid of the gts. literally why. y-comm sucks some major butthole and is slow as shit. surprise trade is just wonder trade with a different name and is slower

y comm never works for raid battles. ever.

why does card trading disrupt whatever you’re doing but surprise trades dont???

why were moves cut. what the fuck.

some of the towns felt so tiny. ballonlea was gorgeous but it was a pokemon center a gym and like 2 houses. they could have made that so much more amazing but it was cut short again!!

most pokemon designs were good but eiscue or whatever that penguin thing is is an atrocity and i dont like it :( which is weird bc i like most mons

they didnt really seem like pokemon designs?? having like a gen1 next to a gen8 was pretty jarring. this is just a matter of taste so dont yell at me

everything is excruciatingly linear. the wild area feels like the only area you can actually explore. everything else feels like a hallway and this was especially evident when in the mines. there was no sense of adventure or mystery like in early gens

the story was pretty cut and dry even for a pokemon game. chairman rose was lame and it felt like they never really explained the macro cosmos thing

i wish theyd let you figure out more things on your own. it felt like they didnt listen to “show, dont tell” advice

my team was cinderace (azzie), dragapult (baby), bolthund (jax), corviknight (berdly), eldegoss (flowey), and obstagoon (nightshade).

overall, it was pretty hit or miss, but when it hit, it hit HARD. do i recommend this game? whether youre a casual fan or hardcore or wanna get into pokemon, yeah. it had less handholding than before but enough to let newcomers know what to do. is it worth $60? maybe. that depends on how much enjoyment you get from it. main storyline is short but theres plenty of other things to keep your attention.

my final rating: 7 outta 10. it’s a good game.

A spy story I wrote when I was new to writing (based on "a handmaids tale") (chapter one of like twenty something)

At the height of the infertility crisis that broke apart global alliances and drove whole nations into madness, there were those doing their best to ensure that their own country would survive the situation.

And where there were people trying to fix a problem... There were those who only made things worse.

This is what Ika Manchuria specialized in preventing. Once an ally to American soldiers in the middle east, she was disgusted by the way the Americans treated her and the squadron she was an acting commander of. They humiliated the smaller force and pushed them out into the desert without supplies and forced them to hand over their radios and weapons. This was supposedly because they were "suspected terrorists."

Then the American Revolution happened just weeks later. Ika never knew what happened to those soldiers who mistreated the Japanese assistance, and she really didn't care. She had more pressing matters than past offenses that would only make her angry for nothing. If she ever met the brigade commander who pushed her around, revenge would be taken. But before such an opportunity came Ika knew there was no point in worrying about it. Then she joined the Japanese Intelligence Agency. It was a vague sounding organization because of the way its secret agents tended to have flexible jobs and missions.

Now, in the home of one of those aforementioned people making things worse...

The suspect went on the computer first thing. She could hear the mouse clicking.

I say "suspect" but after searching through his computer there was really no doubt in Ika's mind. He was a traitor. Ika walked out of the closet she was hidden in. He heard the door creak from where he sat, which was in a room just around the corner. Ika suppressed the urge to laugh: she could hear him fumbling through a desk drawer for his American Pistol. But she had already taken it.

"For His Glory's sake maybe you could try being quiet." Whispered her partner. This was Agent 88, who thought his real name was silly and preferred to be called by his title.

"You be quiet Jimothy, I hardly made any noise." Ika whispered back.

"Who's there?!" Demanded the anxious suspect.

Ika popped into view. She was a rather intemidating lady. Tall, foreign with medium length blonde hair, and noticeably fit, she was quite a scare to the small Japanese man. It didn't help that she was holding a stun rifle and had appeared very suddenly.

"I am! On behalf of the State of Japan you are under arrest for detailing sensitive information on the internet! You were entrusted with that information and- stop screaming! I'm trying to make the arrest sound official for once because APPARENTLY that's the rule!"

"Haha, I don't know why you even try." Said Agent 88. Then he stunned the suspect with a loud crackling noise. "I love these things. So much better than baton sticks and close-range tasers."

"I guess... But remember what Desolate said. No using them on old people." Ika reminded him.

(Desolate is a First Agent, a higher rank than these two.)

"This man is 36, I looked at his record before we got here."

The two secret agents went over to the temporarily paralyzed man and his computer. It seemed he was trying to go to his deep web website about the interworkings of Restorative Facility A2, where he worked. Ika hoisted up his limp body and Agent 88 picked the computer his monitor was attached to. The two started off but then Ika noticed that the suspect's cell phone had dropped on the floor. She picked it up and slipped it into her pocket. Ika intended to take it to the First Agent for review, as you weren't allowed to just keep whatever you found on an offender. "It's a shame though." She thought. After all, it looked like a brand new phone and it was always interesting to go through traitor's phones. Of course, her curiousity could be taken as nosiness. But being nosy was a large part of the job.

They bound the suspect and packed him in the back of their van. Along with his computer. Then they started driving their way back to headquarters.

It wasn't long before they got a decrypted message though. A few seconds of decryption later and their van computer displayed the message: ONE OF THE GUARDS MADE A BREAK FOR IT. HE STOLE ONE OF THE PROTOTYPES AND IS NOW ON TOKYO DRIFT 9 HEADING SOUTH.

"Oh for crying out loud, two traitors in the same day?!" Ika exclaimed.

"It's probably because of the China operation." Agent 88 said.

"What China operation?"

"Nothing. You'll find out soon. You'll be the one preforming it."

"Jimothy you are a terrible spy!"

"Am not."

"You literally just told me-"

Agent 88 made a bee face. "Blessed bee. Buzz buzz."

Ika couldn't help but laugh. When she stopped, she smiled and saluted. "Under his ass."

They both laughed and made fun of Gilead sayings all the way to Tokyo Drift 9, a long section of highway to the south of Tokyo. It was thirteen minutes away so it wasn't that far.

"Okay, how are we supposed to know who this guard is? They didn't give a description of his car." Ika asked.

"Let's follow the government van over there. They're probably tracking him."

"Okay. I'll contact headquarters while you do."

The encryption and decryption process was fully automated, but the code was so complicated that it was laggy. So having a conversation with headquarters was always a chore. However it was impossible for any computer that wasn't a massive supercomputer to ever calculate the key for decryption within this century so it was worth it to the higher-ups.

Fortunately by typing as few words as possible, Ika found the answer to their problem.

Ika: WHO WE CHASING

HQ: VAN

Ika: GOVT VAN

HQ: YE

Ika: WHY

HQ: HE LEFT CAR & STOLE VAN

Ika: K TY

*nearly twelve minutes later*

HQ: PLEASE DO NOT TYPE LIKE A 13 YEAR OLD THIS IS NOT A GAME

"I can't tell who this officer is tracking. His movements are weird."

"Keep on him, but stay a safe distance back Jimothy. He's our suspect!"

"Cool."

The suspect they already had stirred in the back.

Ika turned to look at him through the steel wires. "Wow, I don't know who you are but your web page got 801 views. Our nation could be in serious trouble if anybody important saw those pictures and documents you exposed for the world to see."

He growled back to her in an edgy tone "Fuck the nation, fuck the Emperor, fuck the facility, and fuck you. You're denying the grace of God by allowing this idiotic facade to continue. You can't re-create the process of making life."

Ika didn't mock him by pointing out that the scientists and engineers already had, nor did she respond to his flurry of curses. It was petty and unprofessional to argue with someone you've already got tied up in the back of your van. Instead she went back to watching the van ahead of them.

The suspect said no more. He had made his point. His name was Hiro and he was one of the mechanics. And he only worked for the facility so he could expose it later. When his time was right, he cut security camera power. Then took some evidence and fled. The guards were left in the dark except for one who took the opportunity to assist the mechanic in his escape. That guard is the one now being chased with more substantial evidence than images and documents that may be thought to be fake.

I'd be describing the car chase more but honestly it was pretty slow and not that interesting. Just one van stalking another. Before long the guard took notice that he was being followed and sped up in hopes of losing them. Ika couldn't let that happen of course, so she took a long pistol, aimed it at the vehicle ahead of them, and fired. The shot was muffled and penatrated the van's rubber tire. She went ahead and shot out the other tire too, although she had to lean out the window a bit to aim her gun at it.

And so, what could have been a speedy chase just turned one van pulling into a parking lot.

Crowbar Nurse Chapter 3 — In a World with No Rescue

It felt great to let loose and slay a horde of zombies again. Though as refreshing as that was, I couldn’t help but feel guilty as well. They were formerly people after all. It made me question what gives me the right to kill them.

… ugh, I’ve never even considered any of this when I game. Having blood on my hands is mentally rougher than I thought…

Heaving a sigh, I stood the assault rifle up against the wall then sat on one of the dining chairs… one that the old man wasn’t. I know I’m in a game, but I’m still not about to sit in the old man’s seat.

Still, why is this even happening…? Because my phone glitched…?

Thoughts ran through my head as I was trying to figure out my situation. It was then I noticed the desk to the side… the key was on the desk, just as I remembered reading about on the walkthrough site.

Might as well take it.

Kiryū looked understandably bewildered as he watched me take the key.

“Umm, hey… Sera? What’s that key do?” “It’s super useful and since I don’t have a pocket… would you please hang on to it? Anyway, what did you mean by that? Sera?”

I looked up at Kiryū. He looked back at me with a troubled expression. He knows my name, even though I’m sure we’ve just met.

“… I’m not sure if you realize it yet, but right now, physically, you’re Sera Harvey, the protagonist of Dead Man’s Conflict 2.” “Are you for real?” “I swear. I’ve never played any zombie games before, but I’ve seen this series at the game show in Tokyo before.” “… that’s… very surprising…”

As stupid as I may have sounded, I had no other words but those. Subconsciously, I began looking at my hands… and then my feet.

My long, fair legs were peeking through the bottom of an adorable green sundress. My hair was in a shade of dark bluish black. And tipping my small, slender hands were my fingernails in pink.

… this is definitely not my own body. This body belonged to the beauty who contrasted the deplorable battlefield of Confi City, the stealthy one-man army of Dead Man’s Conflict—Sera Harvey.

“… I’m Sera…”

I shook my head in denial as I finally realized who I was.

“What the heck happened to me…”

The truth was sickening, troubling. This situation was all too ridiculous. Kiryū, as if he understood how I felt, began his explanation.

“From what I can tell, you’re just an average Joe who got dragged from the real world to this side.” “… that’s what it seems like. I swear, I was just a rookie nurse working free overtime in a sweatshop they called a hospital… Kiryū, this is some sort of a dream, right…?”

This would be strange topic if I were in a dream, but I still had to ask… I still needed that small glimmer of false hope for consolation.

“… it’d be nice if it were a dream.”

Kiryū shrugged as he spoke, sounding just like a doctor giving a patient bad diagnosis. He continued with a heavy heart and gently broke the news to me.

“… but I don’t think this is simply a dream. I don’t know how else to describe it, but we’re inexplicably trapped in this world.” “No…” “I feel you. It’s hard to accept. But have you ever been dog-tired and out of breath in a dream before?”

I couldn’t help but shake my head and answer with no.

“… I haven’t had a dream like… that… I suppose. Isn’t this a little too unrealistic though? Zombies only exist in fiction. The concept of the reanimated dead just doesn’t make sense. It goes against the laws of physics. They show all signs of being dead, you know? And how can they produce any adenosine triphosphate to move? I don’t even know how I got here in the first place… to this world…”

I was at my wits’ end by now.

—I opened a door to another universe by working overtime and getting my phone hacked.

No one would believe that. It’d make more sense if it were just a dream. Or maybe I’m in some sort of web novel. They say the hit genre right now is about getting reborn into a game world. Even my brother mentioned he was into that sort of novels and anime. I felt more and more ill as I think about all of this. To begin with, I was on the brink of death at work up until moments ago.

“… real life blows. Were you working overtime too?”

Perhaps he could sense my mental state, Kiryū forced a small smile and began to sympathize. His words seemed a little cool yet gentle. I slowly looked up at him. Kiryū looked as shallow as he did handsome, but the way he spoke was more than genuine.

“Me too. Just now—rather, hours ago, I was stuck at work debugging with the whole team.” “… what’s that?” “You play a game thoroughly to make sure that it’s free of any bugs. It’s a time-consuming process in which gotta play the game over and over again. People from other departments would get on your case and check in with you too. I really thought I was gonna kick the bucket. Then, before I knew it, I got trapped in this ridiculous world.” “I see…” “… I guess I should apologize too. I might look like a real stud, but inside, I’m really an old fart. I’m just like you, from the real world. Except that I’m a 30-year-old software engineer working for a game dev company.”

I let out a slight giggle in spite of myself. At first, I assumed he was a little too serious and awkward, but he’s actually quite kind.

“You can’t call yourself an old fart yet when you’re just 30.” “I appreciate that, but you’ll feel it too when you turn 30. People younger than you will make fun of you for everything, so you gotta be prepared for it.” “Hah, that sounds rough… oh, by the way, do you know who your character is?” “Kiryū Sōichirō, right? I’ve, uhh… seen it at the game show.” “Oh, so you do know!”

Letting his guard down a little, Kiryū laughed with me. He looked like the world’s hottest playboy, but I’d be no better if I said that out loud. We’re both adults who are sick and tired of their jobs, but we certainly don’t look the part.

“I’m glad you’re smiling again. I wouldn’t know what would happen to me if I hadn’t found you too.” “… what do you mean? Were you with someone else?” “Yeah.”

His smile faded into a frown.

“… I found you as I watched my friend get eaten by zombies.” “Like, in a cutscene?” “No… he was a real person. He lost his cool and tried to clear a horde with his bare hands.” “That’s such a movie cliché…” “I don’t get it either. He was saying we’re not going to be rescued anyway… I guess he was at his limits couldn’t handle it anymore.”

Kiryū looked down at the ground and heaved a sigh.

“… please, be strong. For me. We’ll think of some way to safely break out of this world. We can do this together. So please, promise me…”

As his voice trails off, I looked down at the ground and felt a wave of anxiety building up in my chest.

—is he saying we might die in here like his friend…?

But what did he mean that he wasn’t going to be rescued? Does he know something we don’t…?

Silence fell in the bloody, musty room. … then, I remembered something very important and I grabbed the assault rifle. Shit. Christ. This is bad. We can’t afford to be just sitting here.

“—Sera, wait! Let’s talk about this some more!” “There’s lots I want to say too, but I just recalled something really important. In this game, we’re in danger until we reach a safehouse.” “… we’re in danger?”

Kiryū now looked very serious.

“… you mean, they’ll keep spawning and respawning, coming at us?” “That’s exactly it.”

I’m glad that Kiryū, being a game dev, quickly understood what I’m talking about, but I can’t rejoice yet.

“The longer we stay at a location, the more enemies will spawn.” “Ugh. That sounds like the whole world is gonna get laggy… but I get what you mean. It’ll be dangerous if we stay here any longer. We’ve gotta keep moving so they don’t form too big of a horde…” “That’s right. We should head to a safehouse ASAP. But, before that…”

I stopped in the middle of my sentence to rack my brain. There was so much we should be doing.

—what are the locations of this game like?

Are there any places where I can’t return?

Are there any key items that I should get before I leave?

“… before we head to the safehouse, there are two things we have to recover.”

I walked towards the exit as I explained things to him.

“First, I need to pick up the ‘smartphone’ I dropped earlier. Second is the ‘Vital Watch’ that gets dropped in the beginning of this level.” “Vital Watch?”

Kiryū followed behind me.

“It’s critical to our safety that we get that watch. Have you… never played any DMC game before?”

He shook his head and shrugged his shoulders no.

“They say you can do whatever you want in these zombie killers, but they aren’t my thing.” “I see. In that case… umm, the Vital Watch looks like an Apple Watch.” “I see.” “It’s a gadget that… how should I explain this? In short, it’s kinda like a status screen that you can wear around your wrist.”

I grabbed my left wrist with my fingers to demonstrate to Kiryū.

“It fits right around here, and it displays your vital stats, the currently time, and other basic info like that. DMC3 holds your hands throughout the game so that it’s easy to get into it. I think we should be able to find it in this world too.” “I see… diagetic UI, eh?”

Kiryū nodded along as if he completely understood me.

“It sounds like we should definitely get our hands on that Vital Watch. … but your phone? Is it really worth the risk it to get it back?” “Definitely. It was because my phone glitched up that I got sent to this world. It’s very likely a key item, don’t you think?” “Your phone glitched…?” “I’ll tell you the details once we get moving. We can’t sit and chat here anyway.”

He seemed really interested about what happened to my phone.

“In any case, we should definitely go back to get it. We must. I just have to post these pictures online, y’know?” “… what was that?” “Nothing at all. You’re hearing things.” “No shit?”

I digressed but brushed it off with a clap of my hands.

“Well, that’s not important right now. We should get hurrying though! Oh, and where’s your phone?” “Oh. I don’t have it with me.”

Kiryū scratched the back of his head and shrugged his shoulders again.

“I fell asleep at my desk… and when I woke up, I was lying face-up in this world. My phone is probably still on my desk at work.” “Alright, then for now, let’s go retrieve my phone.” “Gotcha.” “Then, we’ll go get the Vital Watch.” “Yep.”

—and so, that was our plan.

First, the phone. Then, the watch.

… the Vital Watch should have dropped after the first section of the game… it should be our first item. Right now, though, we’re at the end of the first locale—Downtown. That means we’ll have to backtrack through the stage.

—… “we’re not going to be rescued anyway”…

That phrase kept coursing through my mind. Nothing but bad feelings welled up in my chest as I looked downwards.

… but now’s not the time to get all depressed.

If we stay here any longer, the game is going to spawn too many zombies. I shook off my anxiety and I tried to cheer up both Kiryū and myself.

“We don’t know anything about our situation, nor do we know anything about how to get back to our world… but let’s keep playing this game. That’s all we can do.”

A boring seesaw game, someone has to get off this seesaw

though, I can’t...

In life, oftentimes there are constants that exist that we’d wish were only temporary, but unfortunately for us wishing things into existence isn’t practical; and frankly only leaves things to be desired. If only things were as easy as they make it out to be in fairytales; or at least on Gossip Girl.

Life also has its ups and downs much like the childhood game of seesaw; as someone and their partner teeter and totter back and forth it's like an unspoken constant battle for balance; for unity. At first you run head first toward your end and sometimes you wait for your partner to catch up, other times you begin before they even have time to get their leg over to either side and just hope they catch up. Picking up the pace while laughing and joking and playing ‘the sand is lava’ and kicking up your feet to try and keep your feet from hitting the ground or worse your bum. But sometimes someone leaves unexpectedly and you suddenly drop hard on your end feeling alone and hurt; both physically and emotionally. You’re left there with noone to balance you out anymore and to bounce you back up when you’ve gone down into the sand. All you can do contemplate getting off the seesaw, but what if you just can’t bring yourself to? Do you just wait for someone else to arrive? Or do you wait on that same person to comeback, just at the possibility that they could drop you again unexpectedly of their own volition? Then you answer to yourself the latter and you start to question whether or not you’re an emotional masochist. But I digress...

Love, is a hell of an addiction and one that is hard to kick, sure one could say their ‘I wish I could quit you!’s and their ‘you ain’t shit’s and my personal favorite ‘I wish I never met you’, but truly once that person had made their indent in your heart whether it be good or bad could you truly forget them? Could you truly rid yourself of all these feelings you had for a singular person in an instance? Sure, in the heat of the moment you may scream infidelities into the sky and spit utter disdain and all the vitriol you can muster about this someone who has broken your trust, and most importantly you heart, but why scream these things and hide the fact that we are hurt? Why pretend like in that moment the one person you loved and cherish more than anyone, hadn’t just severely hurt you?

Your friends may come to your rescue and reassure you that they weren’t worth it and that they weren’t good enough for you and you think to yourself ‘if you thought that about them, then why the hell didn’t you tell me this before I wasted two years of my life with that asshole?!’. And other times despite all the hatred spilled from both your mouth and your friends’, there is sometimes a vile part of you that still festers away at a dark crevice in your brain that tells you that you still want them, that in a momentary lapse of judgment you would take them back in a heartbeat. A part of you that’s still waiting on that seesaw…

“You’re insane”

“Sure yeah, but who said yes and got in the car?” he smirked as he closed the car door behind him.

She stayed silent, biting her lip as the sound of her heart racing filled her ears.

“Seatbelt” he signaled tapping the top of her thigh with two fingers then rested his hand on her thigh when she buckled herself in.

From the outside the venue to the award show was dead, as opposed to when they arrived as it was lined with people as far as the eye could see, she’d be lying if she had said that she wasn’t worried about leaving the venue in the first place risking not only getting spotted by some paparazzi or even worse some fan site ‘photographer’; he’d be lying if he said that he shared that same fear. He was more preoccupied thinking about what comes next between them.

“Ji-Yong…”

“Yeah?” he turned the car wheel with his empty hand.

“I-I umm…”

“shit was this the turn off for the airport…? He muttered to himself leaning forward.

“What if when we get there--to Vegas I mean and we end up--I don’t know...are you freaking out because I’m freaking out?”

He nodded his head absentmindedly, eyes flickering back and forth between the laggy car GPS and the exit signs on the freeway.

“Oh really? Thank god!” she exhaled “because you just seem so calm about it all and everything is just going so fast I just I don’t--oh Jesus H. Christ I haven’t even told Jun-Meyon and you and I--we just left! Oh god, Ji-Yong what are we gonna do? I’m technically still in a relationship and you--you still have a whole ass other award to recieve! Maybe we should go back” she turned to face him.

“Yeah maybe…” he hummed.

“You agree? Oh thank god! I thought--”

“Is it just me or is this stupid GPS like two exits behind where we actually are?” he squinted his eyes “oh sorry, were you saying something?”

“Ji-Yong!” her mouth dropped “nope, no this was a mistake, go back!”

“What? Why? What the hell happened? Baby I thought we were--”

“Ji-Yong what are we fucking crazy?! We can’t do this, I’m in a relationship and you--you’re--fuck we can’t do this!”

He inhaled deeply and quickly pulled off the road onto the off hand shoulder and turned on his hazard lights.

“Alex--” he turned to face her.

“I really think we’re really in over our heads here Ji-Yong! We’re so stupid, why did we think this was a good idea? Why did we think we could do this?”

“Hey, hey listen to me, we’ve been wanting to do this--I’ve been wanting to do nothing but start this over with you; I’ve wanted nothing but to do this with you, I want a family with you, I want you” he cupped her face with his hands “just breathe for a minute everything will be okay, okay? I love you, I know I’ve said a lot of things I didn’t mean but that’s not one of them. And I know I’ve done a lot of things that I regret but loving you isn’t one of those things”

She looked into his eyes and all that came through was the sincerity behind his words. She nodded her head and gave him a small smile before leaning into his hands.

“I love you too...”

“I want to forget all the shit that happened between us, and I want to start over--”

“I know you’re trying to be romantic but we are in the middle of god knows in Hong Kong, in a rental car pulled over on the side of the freeway” she lightly chuckled.

He giggled back and pecked her nose prompting a smile back from her earning a full gummy smile back from him.

He paused for a moment “I do mean it though, I know to some people it might seem insane that I’ve held onto you for as long as I have but I would rather spend the rest of my life insane with you than to never have to deal with your pain in the ass ever again”

“Gee thanks” She chuckled as she playfully shoved his shoulder “I do”

“Oh are we preparing our vows now?” he smirked tucking a piece of hair behind her ear..

“What you have better material?”

“Fine, I vow to you my future wife” he smiled “to love you, and make love to you--” he laughed making her poke his side.

“I vow to be with you through sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until you tell me no. and even then I’ll still love you until you hate me….again”

“And to you, my lover and my best friend, I vow to be with you until my very last breath. I vow to, find a way to make you fall in love with me every morning when I wake up and by the time we go to bed I vow to bed the only you’ll ever need to dream of”

He tilted his head and smiled “you trying to one up me?”

“What? No?” she laughed.

“Too serious, give me one you’d wouldn’t say in front of God and Elvis”

“Who said we’re getting married before Elvis?” she giggled.

“Vegas wedding why not?” he smiled.

“Okay, okay fine!” she cleared her throat “I vow to give you road head when you ask for it--”

He groaned “you don’t even need to say anymore, I do baby I really do” He smiled cupping her face with his hands and capturing her lips with his.

Running his fingers through her hair he deepened the kiss as he gently parted her lips with his tongue the moment she gave him any room to budge. He pulled away from the kiss and moved her hair back away from her neck and peppered kisses down along her jawline and onto her neck. Pulling away again, he looked her in the eye and smiled before placing a chaste kiss on her lips again before placing his hands back on the wheel and turning to face her one last time.

“So, are you ready?” he smiled.

Top 10 Switch Exclusives

With Nintendo finally pulling themselves out of the mild rut they found themselves in with the Wii U, the Switch is now producing games of monumental quality, so I’m here to take you through the top ten essential Switch exclusives for those of you who just don’t know which games to pick!

Note: I’m including Wii U ports here bc the Switch did them better and they’re still Nintendo so u know

10. Octopath Traveler

One of the many fruits of Nintendo and Square Enix’s growing partnership, Octopath Traveler is an adorable, retro-style JRPG that released on the system in mid-2018. The game features turn-based combat and eight playable characters that vary massively from each other in their personalities and backgrounds, meaning the game always has a fresh perspective. Overall, this is a creative but somewhat underrated title for the Switch that you should definitely pick up if you’re a fan of RPGs.

9. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

The latest entry in the DK series brings all of the bright colours, charm and difficulty in glorious HD on the Switch. While this was ported over from the Wii U, it’s certainly a worthy port to say the least. For fans of challenging platforming, Donkey Kong will tick all the boxes for someone who enjoys fun, colourful gameplay that will sometimes make you want to tear your hair out in frustration. Though, if you want things to be slightly less hard, the brand new funky mode lets you play as Funky Kong (but to be honest with you, it’s still hard. I know I keep mentioning it’s hard but I just really need to drive that home).

8. Bayonetta 2

The critically acclaimed hack ‘n’ slash series Bayonetta, while it began on the Xbox 360, is now a Nintendo exclusive, and the sequel to the already mind-blowing first game is definitely something to behold. The fast-paced, combat heavy gameplay is perfect for the Switch and, of course, Bayonetta as a character is as brilliant as ever. So if you’re someone who would enjoy fighting massive demon creatures as a semi-naked, sassy witch then boy is the franchise for you.

7. Super Mario Party

It’s the game that everyone’s citing as ‘the one that made Mario Party good again’. That’s right, the latest iteration of Mario Party on the Switch has ditched the weird car system that made it not into a board game, and now it’s a board game again! Perfect for any small awkward friend group or big party you misjudged and brought a Switch to, this game comes packed with 80 new minigames. Which is a lot. So if you like Mario and party, then pick this up. Prepare for lots of motion controls.

6. Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Another one for JRPG fans, it’s the latest entry in the series that made a name for itself for having anime-style protagonists with weird British accents, it’s Xenoblade 2! Another one of Nintendo’s charming, unique series, Xenoblade boasts an array of memorable characters, a polished, enjoyable combat system and a story just weird enough to be placed alongside most other JRPGs. Throw on top of that a solid DLC add-on in Torna and you’ve got yourself one fine viddy game experience that will definitely swallow up a couple hundred hours of your life.

5. Splatoon 2

The Splatoon series is one of Nintendo’s newest, shiniest IPs that sees their first and hugely successful foray into an online shooter. Splatoon subverts everything we know about the online shooter genre, which now seems to be over-saturated with gritty, laggy messes with little depth and has given us a genuinely fun and colourful game. A variety of game modes, weapons and customisation options for your Inkling bolster this game’s addiction factor and, on top of that, the recent Octo expansion throws in a genuinely solid single player campaign to boot. This is one basically everyone needs to try.

4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The latest and greatest in Nintendo’s flagship fighting series, Ultimate was basically dropped on us at E3 and gave us all a heart attack. If you somehow haven’t heard, Ultimate brought back every single veteran to the series, as well as a solid handful of new characters, plus DLC coming this year that includes Joker from Persona 5 and a plant. If that hasn’t piqued your interest, I don’t think anything will. One of the most ridiculously fun multiplayer experiences you will ever have is waiting for you in this game, especially when playing locally with friends, and the new spirits system has helped to conceive an equally amazing single player campaign, World of Light. This game is oozing with fun and intense love for the gaming industry and you can really tell how much hard work they put into this. Go play it.

3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Quite possibly the definitive multiplayer experience, Mario Kart has been a staple of most people’s get-togethers since the first entry on the SNES. And much like Smash, Nintendo have created the series’ best entry in 8. Ported over from the Wii U, this game includes all of the DLC plus some new characters and karts, so for some reason you can now play as Link in Mario Kart! Cool! I don’t think anyone knows how to feel about this! The point is, it’s fun so you should probably play it.

2. Super Mario Odyssey

Odyssey is hotly contested to be one of the best 3D Mario games since 64, but even if that somehow isn’t true, you can’t deny how wonderfully unique it is. Each kingdom brings something new to the table; a lush, interesting environment in each one. With so many highlights to pick, from the brilliant puzzles to the new Cappy possession system to the boss fight with the massive dragon, Odyssey is packed full of content and collectibles to keep you coming back. Plus, the festival sequence in New Donk City? I want to play that bit forever.

Before I reveal the top pick that might seem glaringly obvious now, here are some other games that didn’t quite make the 10 but are also v much worth your attention!

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I mean, what else was it going to be? Zelda came roaring through the gates when the Switch was finally released and boy, did it deliver. Being the first Zelda game to delve properly into open world, an intense amount of love and detail was poured into every single moment of this beautiful game. Following the themes of lost memories and friendship, you travel across the vast land of Hyrule as Link trying to recover the memory of who he was 100 years ago. And each combat, each encounter, each visit to literally anywhere will leave you laughing, crying or anything in between. This was a game so powerful, it immediately became my favourite game of all time. I know there are a lot of people out there whose hearts are still with Ocarina, but for those new to the series who want a genuinely amazing, heartfelt experience, let Breath of the Wild swallow your whole life. As sinister as that sentence sounds, you really won’t regret it.

COD Warzone- Petrifying Show Down

Aesthetically very dark and feels like actually being in the battle field

Graphics are terrific and everything is so clear

Warzone is a unique game where you are generally put up in a lobby with 150 players although 200 for limited time game mods. You can also play offline but only with bots although you can set the bot difficulty. The game is literally a real battlefield and when playing the game with headsets and listing to comments, it feels that you are fighting a war. Warzone allows you to play cross-platform with means you can play with players you do not know. You can also play with your friends in the same party where you and your friend are there. You can play duos, trios, squads and more with your friends. Warzone is extremely easy to play even as a beginner with all the guidance given to. Aesthetically the game shares the experience with multiple colors in the battle royale and when dropping in the battle, the trees are green and grass also green with is more intriguing and helps connect the game better with real life. Warzone is free to play on x-box, PS, Mobile, and PC although! Although you will need an x-box live gold membership to play on x-box and a PlayStation plus membership to play the game on PS.

There are many flaws of COD too. You need a strong connection to play the game well and for the game to be fun and not laggy or glitchy. The game file is very glitchy and it makes the console slow. The game does not do well with, hackers who use ‘aimbot’ which also increases their accuracy by a ton can kill everybody easily even though they get banned, there are always more.

Warzone also has a lot of health benefits too. In a survey conducted by me, the interviewees tried the game and said, “There is a possibility that the game could help kids understand war scenes and in case of any war where they might have to participate like in WW2. The game would really help understand how a gun shoots, environmental advantages and would better help the middle of a blown-out war.” Some interviewees also said that the game improves the coordination between the hands and the eyes which is an important skill that would be helpful in the future for analysis and other requirements. Studies given in the webs called ‘Business Insider’ and ‘WHO’ say that a substance called ‘gray matter’ is produced which is an important hormone. The increase in gray matter prevents memory related diseases like ‘Alzheimer’. Gray matter help people to control their movement and emotion too as gray matter help in processing information. Games like Warzone where technique is an important role, improves problem solving skills. Also, social activity improves if played at a limited time limit. You can talk and be friends with many different people.

Eventhough Warzone has a lot of benefits, it also has a lot of disadvantages to mental health. Addiction is the number one and only disadvantage, but the consequence of addiction is a lot of them. Addiction is a grave problem; a gamer can really get involved into the game and play it a lot and at an unhealthy amount. Addiction can cause the player to lose concentration, increase distraction and overall, the person would be lazier, and obesity is another side-effect of addictive gaming. Sleep could also be hampered according to WHO. Some interviewees said the game got them a little agitated when they lost, and they got a lot more impatient too.

I recommend this game for kids of age 14+ as it is fun to play and interesting worth new updates and more. Although, they should always play a little and not get addicted. They should also go outside and not stop playing with their friends in real life. Overall, I think the game is worth playing.

hey!! sorry for the super late reply omg, welcome to simblr!! it is kinda crazy here but hopefully u can find ur peeps and make a nice home :) anywaysssss i think u mean recoloring, which is like when people add different colors other than the 18 EA base colors. I don’t allow people to use the meshes mainly bc I know that sometimes I have to go back and update things and this way the recolors don’t have a broken mesh and require that person to redo their package.

urgg i really wish i could make video tutorials and stuff for blender and hairs :( I have tried about 3 or 4 times to record/stream and it is so laggy and just pure shit on stream and twitch. I kind of just learned stuff as i went in blender but a must have is a mouse of some kind, otherwise it is 10x harder

yeah dsgf everything kinda went shitty the past few months but hopefully it all turns itself around :) and I try not to pick at any rude anons/asks in general bc I feel like by doing that it just causes more attention on the issue and more people/trolls want to jump on the band wagon. Thank you!!
