I will never get over how on the first few pages of Lady Midnight, when Emma showed Christina everyone’s room, Cassie dropped the random fact that Ty‘s favourite colours are blue and gold.

Kit Herondale has blue eyes and blond hair. Like if this isn‘t poetic foreshadowing, what is?

Kit's problems in TDA went from "my father was murdered in front of me" in LM to "everyone is hot and I hate it" in LoS to "I'm in love with my best friend but his sister is dead so I'll tell him in the middle of a necromantical ceremony I don't want to be apart of- oh, I guess I'm moving to England now" in QoAaD and that's honestly so real of him

Really, any official, canon depiction of little Ty Lee, little Mai, and little Azula together, or of any two of them together, needs to explain why they, three very different people, became not only became friends at such a young age but also stayed friends for so long. If you're going to do a story which largely centers on Mai reflecting on her past relationship with Azula, for instance, you can't go "Mai always hated Azula, so that's why she proceeded to spend all her time with Azula for the next 10 years." And no, "five year old Azula was a big meanie who forced and tricked people to be friends with her" is not only stupid and impossible, but also extremely unsatisfactory from a character perspective. Likewise, "good and angelic Mai and Ty Lee always spending time with demon-child meanie Azula for zero reason" is both extremely dumb and extremely boring.

All of this goes for Ashes of the Academy, which we haven't seen yet, obviously, but it also goes for any other official, canon depiction of younger Azula.
