L.A. Woman was released on April 19, 1971. It reached number nine on the Billboard 200, remaining on the charts for 36 weeks, and reached number 28 in the UK, spending four weeks on the UK Albums Charts.
Lyrics. "L.A. Woman" has been viewed as Morrison's "final goodbye" to Los Angeles, before his move to Paris, France. The song's lyrics draw inspiration from John Rechy's transgressive novel City of Night, published in 1963, while its title is expressed as a metaphor, personifying L.A. (Los Angeles) as a woman.
The song is the title track of their 1971 album L.A. Woman, the final album to feature Jim Morrison before his death on July 3, 1971.

Don't ya love her madly?
Don't ya need her badly?
Don't ya love her ways?
Tell me what you say
Don't ya love her madly?
Wanna be her daddy?
Don't ya love her face?
Don't ya love her as she's walkin' out the door?
Like she did one thousand times before
