The Frolic Room was a place that I only thought existed in the Saved by the Bell universe, specifically in the College Years episodes because I’d see a big sign for it in the background of the boys’ dorm (or maybe it was Bob Golic’s room. It’s been an age since I’ve watched it, but the sign’s typeface was so notable). When I realized how close we were to it, I knew we’d have to go, so on our last night we went there as part of a crawl, and it was such a trip--I ended up chatting with an older gentleman who was a session musician who was clearly pleased to bend the ear of a younger tourist who was happy to listen to him. This is why I love great dives--you never know who you might run into and what you might learn while you’re there.

So: How exactly would Tom and Jerry (as in the cat-and-mouse duo) react to a certain Festive Season drink known as the Tom and Jerry-- even if it's just so likely that the drink's origins predate the cartoon in significant measure?

And speaking of which: I could just picture Top Cat and clowder spreading "holiday cheer" mixing up (and passing out) Tom and Jerrys wholesale (but made with Vernor's Ginger Ale, in its Luscious Glory of barrel-aged smoothness) somewhere near Hollywood and Vine on holiday evenings, and asking for donations.
