I wonder if they went with a character that at least had a background familiar to TOP to make the acting part easier and try and ensure it turned out well. I mean to be fair to everyone involved TOP doesn't have much experience acting and this is a really high budget show with a lot of expectations for the acting level of the people in it. Maybe Thanos was just the writers and director playing it safe

Then don't cast him. Whats the point?, that's illogical and unfair in general. American or Korean. Thats coddling, holding an actors hand as well and its doing a major favor for them giving them shortcuts 90%, of other actors dont get. Thats pretty close to telling them to method act and lib. If this is the case dont have a set script for the entire cast. Do it like Martin Scorcesse (casino, the irishman, goodfellas etc) and have 50% scripted, the rest being an outlier of the scene and direction the characters need to go in and let the main cast ad lib and make up their own lines as it goes along but he did that with veteran trusted actors.

I wanted / do want top to have new projects and chances at new roles but this is a headache. Its double edgesword since his acting has given the show more attention but its a mixed bag and some negative. But I do agree in a way they probably just let him be himself so its a smooth ride but thats not a true job to me for a show like this. Notice the show didn't get anything at the golden globes? But why play it safe with him when there are a plethora of other actors from aspiring, seasoned and older, A list and then some? Bring that actor from the korean version of Liar Game which is a precursor to Squid Game if yall dont know - Liar Game is a more psychological and mentally tactical but equally wacky japanese drama series & movie that came out long time ago and I always felt the director and writer took a lot of liar game for squid game and edited some of the premise tbh.

Pokemon Johto League Champions: Ash and Todd meet Articuno in the mountains. For some reason they thought maybe there were a bunch of Articuno that lived in the area in the ancient past. Also, I believe this is for sure Todd's last appearance in the series.

Xmen Evolution: Storm is having trouble dealing with Spike as a guy from her old tribe tries to use her to take over Africa- highlights a lot of her claustrophobia.

RL Stine's The Nightmare Room: Kid gets new glasses that lets him see *aliens*, but everyone else thinks he is crazy. Also worth noting that John McGinley plays the optometrist that makes these insane glasses, which was only a short while after Scrubs started- in which he plays his infamous role of Dr Cox. I tell you, I kept expecting him to say something fucked up to the kid here. Never watched this as a kid lol

Yugioh: This seems to be the episode right after Bakura loses the shadow game he challenges Yami to during Duelist Kingdom, because Kaiba tests out his prototype duel disk on Joey- an episode i missed entirely apparently. Anyway, Joey completely forgot how to duel here I guess.

Commercial Notes:

Kids WB had this "Ask Imhotep a question" deal where kids could email the villainous character from The Mummy cartoon series. One includes a bit where a kid asks him to tell his mom to let him eat ice cream for dinner, and he does so.

The commercials for series and treats aimed for kids were really decently animated, especially compared to today's standard
