With 30YearOldBodyGan, I’ve been playing with how patterns can grow endlessly without ever repeating. Using noise algorithms to distribute and define the lengths of hair, these textures feel chaotic but are entirely procedural. To balance this organic randomness, I added mathematical shapes created with periodic curves inspired by spirographs. The result is a 10m by 2m print that combines these two worlds—natural unpredictability and human precision.
Code for the periodic curves was found here: https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/808650/an-equation-that-generates-a-beautiful-or-unique-shape-for-motivating-students-i in a comment made by Jean-Marie. Thank you <3

30YearOldBodyGan started as a way to explore how new visual techniques could create and reinterpret organic patterns like growth and movement. By combining procedural systems with conditional GANs, I’ve been able to experiment with modeling the texture, density, and rhythms of body hair based on photographs taken over a month. It’s not about replicating an existing body but about capturing patterns that feel familiar yet strange. The process has made me question what photography can become when it’s no longer tied to a fixed moment in time. The search is about finding ways for something to feel both familiar and strangely ungraspable, evoking a false sense of understanding.
