Every article I read online about cannibalism opens with like three paragraphs to the tune of "eating other humans, of course, instinctually causes intense feelings of disgust for all of us Westerners" and I just. Don't get it. It doesn't strike me as disgusting.

Murder is bad, obviously. I wouldn't support killing someone to eat them. But if the person is already dead, then why not? Humans are animals. Animals are made of meat. If you don't eat them, something else will. Earthworms or maggots or fungus or something. That's the food web, baby. Nutrients keep flowing.

And I'm saying this as an American, mind you. I grew up in and still live in a culture where cannibalism is only seen in horror films, and in tales of absolute desperation like the Donner Party. I should be frightened by cannibalism, I should find it disgusting, I should share the cultural zeitgeist that Man is the one type of animal that it is a sin to eat.

Is there something wrong with me? Am I abnormal? It really feels like something that I should be disgusted by, but I'm not.

Spencer liked to talk. a lot.

It bothered people, very frequently actually- but you on the other hand? You thought it was charming. Spencer liked that about you, you were always willing to listen. This particular day, his mind was set on rare neurological disorders. You were sat in his lap on the couch, fidgeting with the ends of his sleeves while he spoke. A nature documentary was playing on your tv, but neither of you were paying attention, so much so you had turned the volume off.

“Oh, another one-“ he grinned,resting his warm hands on your waist. “Metachromatic leukodystrophy. It’s genetic, actually- autosomal recessive.”

“Oh, what does that one do?” You queried, doing your best not to sound disinterested although you were preoccupied with his fraying sweater seams.

“Basically, our brains and nerves are very delicate. There’s a substance called lipids that build up frequently on the brain, spinal chord and peripheral nerves-“ he interrupted his own sentence to place a small kiss on the crook of your neck, sending warmth down through your collarbones. Despite the loving gesture, you frowned.

“That’s sounds scary.”

“It is, it is. Luckily, we all have enzymes whose sole jobs are to break down those lipids. People with Metachromatic leukodystrophy-“

You interrupted with a guess, raising your head to meet his eyes. “Don’t produce the enzymes?”

He grinned. “Exactly, love.”

“I guessed.”

“Well-“ he shrugged. “It was a good guess.” He pressed a kiss to the corner of your lips, going back to his rant. 

“Oddly enough, it actually has similar symptoms to Kuru disease- that’s the one that causes tremors. Only lipids don’t eat away at the tissue,” his hands slowly slid up your sides, caressing your arms and trailing along the curve of your breasts. “..they just block it off.”

You giggled a little at the touch, face warming as you shifted in his lap.

“Stop it.” He said softly, with a smile, guiding your hips down. “It causes a lot of terrible symptoms, anyway. Loss of senses- the most interesting being an inability to detect pain.”

He sneaked another kiss to the side of your neck, a hand moving up to push your hair out of the way. 

“It was discovered in the early 20th century, and three forms emerged. Infantile,” his hands slid down your sides, lips pressing quick, sloppy kisses to your jawline. 

“juvenile,” as his hands slipped over your thighs, caressing the skin, “and adult.” As his hands expertly pushed your knees apart.

Your breath hitched. “Mhm, spence-“

He sighed through his nose. “Are you listening?”

“yeah, yeah, I am, just- keep going.”

His chin rested on top of your head as he firmly grabbed your hips, spinning you around so your forehead was against his chest, your legs straddling him. 

“okay. Pay attention- back to MLD. The infantile form is, of course, the worst, it progresses the quickest and the symptoms are often the most brutal, particularly-“ 

His hands slid between your thighs, sending a rush up your core, and you pushed your head into his chest a little in a sad attempt of soothing your nerves.

“particularly seizures. Because of this, it’s misdiagnosed often, usually for some form of epilepsy.”

Was he really going to do this? While lecturing you about seizures? Jesus, this boy was going to kill you someday.

His fingers traced along the lace of your panties, one hand situated between the plush of your thighs, one on your waist. The contrast between the movements of his hands and the subject matter leaving his mouth was giving you whiplash, but you were so desperate for any kind of physical attention you let him continue speaking.

Your breath hitched when his fingers just slightly trailed down, circling around your entrance and slowly pushing in as his voice persisted.

“Shush. You really need to listen, baby.”

His fingers pushed in and out of you, speed never falling even once. “There’s a drug, that was also developed in Europe- called Atidarsagene autotemcel.”

Thoughts about bheem and valandharaa?

I don't usually write much about the pandavas(they exist as 'Drupad's sons-in-law' at the back of my mind lol) but I love love love it when people do character designs of big joint family and give them all love and attention!! It's a mammoth task brooo

I swear! It's so complicated sometimes to try and differentiate everyone in a big family and not give them the Same Traits every single time.

But I do have Thoughts about Valandharaa. (Stolen some from @krsnaradhika ofc, we share all our thoughts.)

I'm gonna use your ask to rant about her character as a whole.

She's quite distrustful and wary of new people, and for good reason. The Kashi kingdom does have a history of their princesses being abducted, after all. Her parents raised her to never trust any new person without understanding their character and intentions properly and to not show her emotions regardless of the situation.

She rarely shows her emotions and is quite stoic; she usually has an expressionless resting face. This makes her intimidating at first, but once you get to know her better, you can read her subtle body language and tell her emotions.

She's above average height and towers over most of her sisters-in-law. She frequently teases Krishnaa and Bhima because Krishnaa is the shortest of his three wives and the height difference makes for some really soft (and sometimes awkward) moments.

Young children usually are the only ones who crack her stoic exterior. She never really learns to reveal her emotions even to her closest ones, so even Bhima has to guess at what she's thinking or feeling at times.

As for how they got married, whoo wild ride.

The Kashi royals distrust the Kurus immensely, and for good reason. They never pressurized Valandharaa into a relationship; they in fact avoided any talk of a groom even though she was of marriageable age. But she knew she had to get married, and preferably a marriage that would strengthen their position in the kingdoms' eyes.

Bhima too was on the lookout for a marriage to strengthen their ties with other kingdoms, to cement growing Indraprastha's position in the country. He learned of Valandharaa (he'd heard of her when they were younger but his interest was never in the fairer sex back then). He knew it would be a long shot, but was also aware that repairing that strained relationship would go a long way in establishing their reputation.

He's said to "offer his prowess as dowry" to the Kashi king (who was probably called Subahu but I'm not super sure of that), and so I think it was a long process of slowly building a connection between the kingdoms first, then only when he was sure that he had the approval of both Valandharaa and her family did he propose a marriage alliance. Maybe he defeated Kashi's foremost warriors in gadayuddha/wrestling to satisfy that prowess as dowry.

So: strangers to acquantainces to lovers (+ bonus slow burn!). They probably didn't exactly love each other at the time of their marriage but they surely did start to love the other in the years after. (Who wouldn't love our gentle giant?)

I'd originally thought Valandharaa would handle the religious aspects of the kingdom, but then that's exactly what Dhaumya does. So maybe she looks over education: for their children, for the kids of Indraprastha and the women too.

She also acts a proofreader for many things because she's good at spotting loopholes or mistakes.

Bhima, as the most emotionally intelligent of the Pandavas (fight me on this), helps her regulate her emotions and address them in a healthy manner. They don't typically indulge in displays of affection, or much of romance at all, because Valandharaa isn't super comfortable with that. But that doesn't diminish their love for each other.

Actually, now I realize, I headcanon her as greyromantic. She doesn't experience romantic attraction in such intensities as her family members do. Bhima recognizes this and respects it, which only makes her adore him more.

She's a stern but loving parent to Sarvaga. She and Bhima sometimes quibble about her stern nature because Bhima is incredibly indulgent. (Within reason.)

Hmm I don't have anything else right now. I keep wondering if she's well-rounded enough but I guess I'll leave it off right here. (Gotta make the posts for the other wives!)

As the Ash Cloud Passes Over Update

Greetings and salutations all! I would like to start out by saying I am so so so sorry for disappearing for awhile. To put it quite simply, I have no excuses to make nor reasons to claim behind my lack in progress. I have had so much time these last two months to write, and I somehow fell into a constant cycle of procrastination and forgetfulness where I was completely aware of what I was doing. It's not that I even fell off the Avatar fandom or was busy, I'm just a terrible writer (it's natural for me to be overtly honest with myself, I swear it's not worrisome at all!) BUT I am so happy to let y'all know I've gotten back in the groove! Inspiration has hit me hard, and I feel the need to type like there's no tomorrow. Again, I am so sorry for anyone who's ask I may have missed/comment I may not have replied to/or question I left unanswered 🙏

First off, lemme just say this. @anka-partizanka-from-pandora is the SINGLE GREATEST ARTIST AND PERSON I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH! Truthfully, they deserve your love, you guys! I recently saw the videos and images for Avatar 3 and I just gotta say...LET'S. FREAKING. GOOOOOOOOOO!!!! The Ash Clan is sheer horror and I am already in love! The flying creatures are insanely awesome, especially the Medusa floating ship, LIKE WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?! I DON'T KNOW BUT I LOVE IT! And lastly, I'm just gonna put this out there, VARANG HAS LITERALLY STOLEN MY HEART! Sharp claws, frilled headress, a cloak of severed kurus (possibly)?! SLAY QUEEN! I genuinely don't think I will be able to root agasint her, but we'll see. And I do think I will be trying to change up a few things to include what little info we have gotten so far. It's just too good to pass up on!

I am proud to announce that As the Ash Cloud Passes Over Ch. 14 will be published very, very soon. I mean within the next few days 😁 It has been so long, so I plan to send this one off with a bang. Kuru isn't even like, the only concern with eating people... Humans are at the top of the food chain, and thus take in a lot of gross material and chemicals. Your body is a magnet for lead, mercury, arsenic, plastics, etcetera etcetera.

Not to mention parasites, which are, quite common. By the way. Tapeworms specifically can live in your gut for YEARS before you know about them. I guess you'd clean them out before eating someone but a lot of cannibal true-crime stories don't... Then again they got caught and usually aren't all there in the head. I'm sure there are some real-world cannibals that prepare things well, past or present.

Also, romanticizing cannibalism also just feels fucking disrespectful. Look at Issei Sagawa. Do you know the amount of fame that richkid cunt got from that whole crime? Crazy. Got away with it because of his dad too.

And when Jack Webber or whatever the fuck his name is did that interview series with Nico Claux, a small but sizable amount of people got interested in him too even though he was like an edgy 20 year old homophobe when he did all that. (Tbh I follow him on Instagram but still!)

Oh and Dahmer I guess. He's probably the biggest guy people think of when they think of cannibalism, if not a disgusting stereotype of brown "barbarians" in cartoons. I fucking hate that incel though

Kuromi and her relationship with My Melo analysis. (◍•ᴗ•◍)

In the show, it's clearly obvious Kuromi despises Melo which is shown with her Kuromi notes. Which is notes of a series of events that Melo has best her.

One of the first ones that we are shown is My melody taking the pickled onion from Kuromi plate because she thought she didn't like them. However, she didn't know Kuromi was actually saving it for last.

So as an audience we can obviously see that they are both at fault.

My Mel for taking the pickled onion without asking for permission and Kuromi for not stating that she was actually saving it. If Kuromi stated that she was saving it for later, a similar situation like this would be avoided.

Whilst you watch the majority of Kuromi flashbacks through the notes, you can see a clear pattern which is My Melody's oblivious.

However there is one Kuromi note flashback that stands out from me (and another one).

This happens in Kuru Shuffle (season 2, I think ep 10).

They are playing a mini version of football (soccer). And Kuromi needs to score a goal to make her team and Melody's team a draw so it would go over time.

However when she was about to score, my melody screamed (she's the goalkeeper) thus left Kuromi in shock and stopped trying to score but to just stare at Melo helping an ant who was about to get hit.

This scene to me illustrates that Kuromi actually cared for Melo and stopped trying to score but she believes that My melody planned this. Because at the end her team kind of blamed her for losing.

Another one is Kuromi is on a class trip to the woods, they were about to leave but she notices that Melo is missing and starts to look for her in the woods. She didn't know my Mel was actually sleeping on the bus and the bus left her whilst she searched for my Melo throughout the night in the woods.

That Kuromi note made me angry that they just left her but it proved that Kuromi does care for My Melody.

This made me ponder about Kuromi's character more and her rivalry with My melody. This is because to me, I don't think she actually hates My melody.

If Kuromi really hated my melody she would try to ruin her life, make her feel the same suffering that she feels but most of the time she just shouts at her whilst ranting.

This is most likely to release her frustration on everyone through my melody.

Because most of the time it's the people in Mari land who compares them and state kuromi's flaws (like when she was a main lead in a play and everyone kept gushing on my Melody's character and wondering why my Mel wasn't the lead) and show My melody as pure hearted.

The season finale scene when Kuromi frees herself from dar-chan when Mel was going to lock herself in the wardrobe (which Kuromi wants to do to her) portrays her feelings to My melody.

Kuromi's relationship with my Mel is a never ending cycle, she will keep hating on my melody but won't lock her up. If my Mel is locked away, or dead who's Kuromi going to hate on.

That's why she didn't want my melody to lock herself in the wardrobe bc Kuromi has no one to hate on.

Kuromi is nothing without my melody, her main fact about her is that she hates my melo.

And to shorten it down, Kuromi cares about her but she knows she should hate my Melo bc of her ruining her life (due to the Mari land people keeping on adoring my Mel).

Rabies is *not* 100% fatal. a handful of people have survived it!

Sheep and Goats (Scrapie), Mink (TME), and Cats (FSE) can all get their own forms as well

Prions are very, very, very hard to kill. you need extreme heat (900f 482c for extended time or higher. go for higher.) and can be frozen for a long while. they can survive out of a living organism.

Humans can get it! there's Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD), Gerstmann-Straussler-Scheinker Syndrome, Fatal Familial Insomnia, Kuru.

most of these you just can get because your body hates you, but Kuru? that's gotten from eating human brains. so uh... don't eat humans? or the brains of any creature really. or do, just don't complain if you get prions!

The Kurumada x Alice rant

Spoilers for all of YTTD up to Chapter 3-B. It might be completely unintelligible but I have strong thoughts on these fictional characters.

I want to talk about Alice and Kurumada as a concept because although when I entered this fandom I legit had 0 ships in mind and didn't find most of the cast shippable, I am in love with these two as a pairing. But I wanna talk about them as characters and why they work so well.

Alice is a theatric man who has some degree of suspicion directed towards others and despite being a convicted murderer is also one of THE BEST people in the death game, morally. Like I love him he's just a good guy.

Kurumada is rough, and abrasive, and refuses to help when he thinks the dolls will die during the fight with Midori, but is also one of the first to actually turn around and reverse his side. He grabs Maple to kill her because he thinks he can- but also because he's protecting everyone else. If he really wanted to, he could've just killed Sou (or, in the other route, ESPECIALLY KANNA) and succeeded in his little mini game. His dialogue might lend credence to the idea that he would. But he's just a little guy that wants to help. When Ranmaru is about to die he offers to take the tag and die, knowing that Ranmaru has more to offer than him in his wounded state.

Him and Alice share violent tendencies and open aggression, with Kuru being more actually violent and Alice being more threatening in speech (Kuru really does just shake his fist at people by contrast). They're really similar, though. Big tough guys who are just softies on the inside, and I think that's why I find them so cute together. There are two ways it goes.

Or that's the space where they both sorta break down from their performance and share in actual feelings. Because they do both have them. We see Alice mourn his sister (even just when she breaks the Bongos)

Either they are perpetually postering to impress the other person which is an age old trope that i still find really funny,

and we see Kuru cry at the thought of the others being killed by Keiji (with the Midori plan).

Now there is one thing in particular I wanna highlight though, that makes this ship particularly compelling for me

In the logic route, as I'm sure most of you know, the remaining Yabasume sibling dies at the hands of a trap set by Ranmaru.

Tragedy

Who is the one to see this trap and report it?

Kurumada

If Kurumada and Alice were truly together, then Kurumada is the first one to witness him nearly dying. Kurumada is powerless to save him himself. He can hardly even walk anymore. There's a giant hole in his chest that may or may not kill him.

Kurumada has to suffer as he is unable to respond, and unable to save Alice, the others failing to get there in time.

Kurumada's actions, which have been entirely self-sacrificial up until this point, culminate as his own choice to try to kill Maple to save the others, end in his failure to save the person he has bonded the most with.

He has chosen others at the ultimate cost of himself.

Kurumada, if he is still alive, is the one to propose that the dolls are the ones placed in the coffins.

Kurumada gives up everything he has, and it is, in the logic route, simply not enough. And even when Alice lives- Kurumada's inability to prioritize himself leads instead to his own death

5) 203,3 milyar dolar olan kısa vadeli dış borç 3,9 trilyon liradan, 4,9 trilyon liraya çıktı.

Yani Türkiye’nin bir yıl içinde ödemesi gereken borcu 1 trilyon TL arttı.

2023 bütçesinin 4,6 trilyon TL olduğunu hatırlarsak tehlikenin ne kadar büyük olduğunu görürüz.

6) Büyük bir ihtimalle sert bir faiz artışıyla birlikte kur frenlenecek ve ekonomi soğutulacak. Böylece dövize olan talebin azalması sağlanacak ama diğer taraftan işsizlik de patlayacak.

7) Kurun önünü açarak aslında TÜİK’in enflasyonunun yalan olduğunu itiraf etmiş oldular. Enflasyona paralel artmayan dolar kuru, döndü dolaştı patlama noktasına geldi.

Sonuçta düşük enflasyon verileri ile işçinin, memurun ve emeklinin hakkı çalındı.

HELLO. I KNOW ABOUT PRION DISEASES.

First off! Cannibalism cannot cause prion diseases, flat out. It can spread prion diseases. This myth came from people misinterpreting what happened with Kuru in the Fore people of Papua New Guinea!

The Fore people participated in funerary cannibalism, the consumption of the dead in a ritual to allow the spirit of the dead to bless those who ate it (usually close family), as well as pass on the positive traits of that person to their children, allowing those to remain in the tribe.

Now- here's where the problem arose, sadly.

At some point, someone in a group of Fore people randomly developed Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, aka CJD/the most common human prion disease. This is something that happens sometimes. It had ZERO connection to the fact that the Fore people participated in cannibalism. NONE.

Eventually, this person died, and being that he was a male, and most of the time it was men who were consumed in these funerary rituals, he was eaten. This would've been perfectly fine, except for the fact that consumption of meat from an animal or person with a prion disease can lead to the prions being passed onto the consumers. This is also what happened with Mad Cow Disease and Varient CJD in England.

So- to conclude. Even if reptiles could get a prion disease (which rn we have no evidence that animals other than mammals can contract, as mentioned above!), cannibalism would have zero impact on it.

Apologizes for the rant! The myth about Kuru being caused by cannibalism is the actual bane of my existence bc its often used to demonize the Fore people and blame them for Kuru, even though they had NO way to know it was being spread via their rituals, and like! It wasn't even caused by the rituals! They literally just got the worst roll of the dice ever with someone randomly getting CJD.

So when mammals eat members of their own species, it can lead to prion diseases and other issues, like kuru or mad cow. Does that apply to reptiles too? Like, if an ophiophagous snake ate a member of its own species, would it be at risk of illness?

Aside from the standard prey risks of typical transmissible diseases and parasites, reptiles don't seem to be at any increased risk from eating others of their own species (or even other reptiles in general). Prion diseases are poorly understood right now, but it seems like they're just a mammal thing.

And that's good, because so many snakes are adapted to eat other reptiles and even other snakes! Cannibalism is not something reptiles are concerned about.

Prion diseases are absolutely fascinating (and terrifying!). Interestingly, even though birds can eat infected tissue without getting sick, they can translocate prion diseases to previously clean areas. That suggests that reptile bodies can pass on the information for the misfolded proteins, but they won't get sick from them. Prion diseases are so poorly understood even in mammals that I can really only assume that there's something so fundamentally different about reptile brains when compared to mammal brains that whatever causes the proteins to misfold just doesn't trigger in reptile brains in the same way.

It took 21 eps but I am finally annoyed at this show.

Ugh!!! I was already side-eying how this season switched Ramo from someone who wanted vengeance for his father + to rise in the mob + while enjoying his mob activities to someone who wants vengeance and then retire. Oh, and look at him help orphan teens! And he actually hasn’t done any routine mob work, just stuff in pursuit of his plan - he’s more of a vengeance seeker than a mobster with a side quest.

And then they introduce some sort of freaking patriotic org who wants to take out Cihangir for unspecified reason and enlist Ramo and FUCK WHAT THE FUCK NOW HE IS SAVING MOTHERLAND BY HIS ACTIONS OR SOME IDIOTIC NONSENSE?!

If I wanted to watch Murat Yildirim be a sexy patriot with a gun, I’d just watch Teskilat, thanks. Just because this show has Mustafa Yıldıran in a supporting role doesn’t mean it needs to be Soz Mark 2. I want my TV mobsters to stay mob-centric and to focus on family and revenge and bigger slice of mob pie. Uc Kurus managed as many eps as Ramo (OK, one less) while keeping its mobsters as mobsters. Hell, Cukur managed four excellent seasons (I know you disagree @academyofbrokenhearts​ :P)- 131 freaking eps! - while keeping its theme. 

I want my mobsters to stay mobsters, not to turn into some sort of secret extrajudicial government agents WTF!!! Are they gonna give Ramo a fucking medal by the end? And then they are all “oh your dad was one” WHAT THE FUCK it was so much more compelling when he was a normal farm laborer trying to stand up for his rights and get his fam some food. 

Oh, and they switched Sibel from “I want to protect Ramo and to rule my mob fam” to “my only goal in life is to protect Ramo” because she needs to be whitewashed too and all the women aren’t running around with guns any more and there is no family counsel and those all bugged me like Ramo’s whitewashing but I could cope bu the fucking patriotic org nonsense is too big for me to overlook ARGH

Thinking about the elephant princess so many things to say about that show it's an insane show that only I still remember in 2022 let me tell you all about it (its mostly bad. Its terrible but i didn't notice cause i was 8 and now i have Stockholm sindrome)

Apart from that. Let's talk about the actual show cause it's a mess

Ok so basically it's about this princess who was hidden in another dimention as a baby (earth) and at the age of 16 is called to reclaim her throne ruining the plan of the villain who wanted to become king himself

As can be deducted from the picture above (or can it? , the kingdom, despite being set in another dimention (which has magic by the way, forgot to mention) clearly takes a lot from Indian culture. And by clearly I mean not clearly at all because it's literally the most stereotypical representation i have ever seen ever and I'm 100% sure they did not even try to research anything probably cause it's a kids show (yikes)

Oh top of that. THE "INDIAN" PRINCESS IS A WHITE AUSTRALIAN GIRL

I cannot stress this enough. The entire kingdom is made of poc actors and she is as white as a sheep in a snowy day

Everyone in the kingdom speaks with Australian accents which also makes no sense but i can allow that cause well it was for Australian kids they do need to understand the show

Don't even get me started on the writing

They really set up Kuru and Alex (the main character) with a whole episode where their kiss breaks a spell (true love etc etc) and then FORGOT ABOUT IT COMPLETELY

The whole season one had certain colors for the spells based on the characters and that also is just,,,,, gone in season 2
