Rabies is *not* 100% fatal. a handful of people have survived it!

Speaking of rabies, roughly only 1% of bats have rabies, though still be careful!

Opposums rarely actually contract rabies because of low body temperatures!

If you suspect being bit by a rabid animal, go get the shots within 24 hours, 72 if your pushing it, although it can take *years* it can also take days (4 days to 8 years, very wide range) so go get the shot if you got bit by a potentially rabid animal.

You know what is 100% fatal? Prions!

Prions are misfolded proteins that can (and almost certainly will) transform other proteins to also be misfolded

it may take years, but it can and *will* kill you.

it has several names/forms, in Cervidae (deer, moose, elk, reindeer) there's CWD or Chronic wasting disease. in cows its called BSE or Mad cow disease. it can be gotten by cows!

Sheep and Goats (Scrapie), Mink (TME), and Cats (FSE) can all get their own forms as well

Prions are very, very, very hard to kill. you need extreme heat (900f 482c for extended time or higher. go for higher.) and can be frozen for a long while. they can survive out of a living organism.

Humans can get it! there's Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD), Gerstmann-Straussler-Scheinker Syndrome, Fatal Familial Insomnia, Kuru.

most of these you just can get because your body hates you, but Kuru? that's gotten from eating human brains. so uh... don't eat humans? or the brains of any creature really. or do, just don't complain if you get prions!

-Copia USED TO be a morning person, always on time, always put together

-now he usually gets mediocre sleep at best, always sandwiched between all the ghouls while theyre fighting about who gets to sleep next to him that night

-Aether and Cumulus are THE morning people of the group, always up by at least 6, getting tasks done and waking the others up usually

-Mountain and Swiss SNOOOOREEEEE

-Swiss constantly moves, kicks or readjust and still gets a perfect nights sleep, excited to get up but usually doesnt actually get up before 8

-plays video games or bothers someone else before actually getting up

-Cumulus needs to hold someone when shes asleep, Sodo and Copia are her favorite since their smaller/her height

-Sodo is usually way too hot and also is a super light sleeper, gets woken up by others moving, his own hair, his clothes, everything

-Sodo is evil in the morning and Lus and Aether usually let him sleep in

-Rain is a belly sleeper and DROOLS

-Rain usually sleeps without a shirt, his skin is damp so the texture of a damp cloth all night drives him insane

-Cirrus needs to be woken up at least 3 times, she just loves sleeping, sleeps through every alarm, cannot be trusted to get up on her own

-Mountain can sleep literally anywhere and usually hits the ‘dad that said he wasnt tired and then fell asleep in front of the tv’ pose

Part 3 of my ghoul designs featuring the air girlies (and Zephyr as a bonus). I've officially made it through the halfway point and now have 4 ghouls left to design for the impera era woo

As usual, headcanons under the cut:

Air Ghouls

I'm taking inspiration from Dante's Inferno because I remember there were harpies in one of the circles of hell. Hence, the bird design.

They're often seen accompanying earth ghouls. In Inferno, harpies feed upon the leaves of souls who turned into trees. Based on this, air ghouls stick around earth ghouls because they care for the plants they use for food and shelter. Air ghouls in return warn earth ghouls of any danger and lead them to resources they could both benefit from. (This doesn't really apply on topside but the ghoulettes still like to hang out with Mountain)

Besides birds, I also wanted to add a butterfly/moth motif to give the characters a more inhuman look. Air ghouls have false eyes to confuse and intimidate other ghouls in the pits

These ghouls, especially those with long hair, have their hair braided by other air ghouls as a social custom (also so hair doesn't get in the way while flying)

Females have dull colors while males are colorful

Cirrus

Sharp features, long wispy hair similar to cirrus clouds

Often has her hair braided by Cumulus when they're on duty

A fast flier and very energetic with her movements

The 2nd in command of her pack

Cumulus

Like the cloud she's named after, she has more softer features than the other ghouls. Don't let that fool you because she's just as aggressive as the others.

A silent flier and not as fast as cirrus

Tends to stare at people with her large round eyes. She likes making people feel uncomfortable with her stares.

Mystery snails (those aquatic snails that you get for like, a dollar at pet smart or something) actually like to have a bit of land! and don't get them if you want a cleaner thank, they'll probably just add more to the bioload

Cirrus/Copia my beloved….

I like to think that he was pretty nervous when first taking over the band 😭😭 super fidgety and nervous and overwhelmed all the time. Shes so attached to him,,always touching and comforting him 😩 and hyperaware of what he needs all the time …theyre like attached by the hip, theyre besties, shes obsessed with him, she loves him so much guys…..i will eat them…thats her babygirl…
