How… is this even possible? That was the longest week of his life, and he was barely even allowed to take a break to grieve. It’s just… he doesn’t really know how to react now that they’re back. He’s surprised by their new powers, and if things are going to continue between them, it’s going to be an adjustment. The biggest thing is that he just… he doesn’t want them to be stuck like this. He might have to ask Eric to help him do research into, er, helping his S/O. They don’t want to be stuck like this, right? If they’re okay with it… well… he can still hold their hand, so… maybe it isn’t that bad.

Well, that’s… that’s… what even?? It’s not enough that his entire life was turned upside down by his precious love dying, no. Something has to happen that brings them back from the dead as a spirit, something he has very little experience with. On the one hand, he’s thrilled to have them back, because that week was an incredibly dark one. On the other hand… are they really okay with being stuck as a wee ghostie?? Even if they can do everything exactly as they can before, it’s… strange. He’ll try to adjust. He’s just… he’s just glad to have them back.

Ugh… their darling left them alone…! Well, now that (Name) is back, hopefully they ought to have some way to apologize, right? Admittedly Grell has a bit of a chip on their shoulder about anything they view as abandonment, so they spent that week bitter and angry and violently wishing they had their S/O back. Now that their sweetheart is back, even with all these strange new abilities, well, Grell couldn’t care less about that part. Can (Name) still kiss? Then they want all the kisses, ever! (Name) will be lucky to only be told ten times in a single day how much Grell missed them and that they can’t leave ever again.

Honestly, this almost broke him; with how little he tends to interact with people, the deeper bond he had with his S/O was horribly difficult to lose. Practically as soon as he has them back, he’s visibly overjoyed… then he notices that they’re, well, different. Upon realizing that (Name) is a ghost now, but somehow he can still touch them and they can still pick up things and this is all just very strange. He’s never heard of a spirit that has all the powers and none of the downsides! Hm, he’ll have to do some research into this. In the meantime, though… he’s really just happy to have them back. Although it might be not quite the same sensation, he’s going to cuddle them for like a month straight.

The idea that his S/O would ever come back after dying wasn’t something he really thought about. So he was depressed and drinking after he lost them, then… then suddenly they’re back?? He’s confused more than anything. How does a person come back after dying, if it wasn’t because they committed suicide and became a Reaper? Things don’t work any other way, do they? Still… he almost doesn’t care what’s going on. He has them back, and he can continue to touch and kiss them, so it’s practically like (Name) never left. Even though his feelings are still lurking in the back of his mind, for the moment, the party of their relationship continues!

This was just one more thing that the universe decided to torture him with. Right when he’s finally happy, his S/O gets taken from him. He’s spent the week or so without them with his head down, trying to get through the grind of a day. It’s to the point that he borderline can’t believe it when they show up again. He starts out gentle, trying to touch them, because he doesn’t think it’s going to work… then it does? He’s back to grabbing at them and kissing them just like nothing has changed. Damn, he’s so lucky to have them back. Their new abilities aren’t even a problem… maybe this way they can even sneak into his office for some romantic time while he’s on the clock.

Is it any wonder that they spent most of the time without their S/O crying? It was hard to get through their work without tearing up, because (Name) is literally the most important person in their life. Sascha doesn’t understand how they’re supposed to go on without their beloved, and they’re nearly at the point of wanting to kill themself a second time when (Name) shows up again. Sascha is elated, along with a complicated mix of other feelings. It’s going to be okay now that they have their darling back, so they sort of just… slide back into the routine. After realizing that they can still give their S/O literally all the kisses ever, of course.

One more person he’s lost… he’s used to all the grief of people dying, but it still hurts. How many people does he have to lose? Every single love he’s ever had has died and left him with a hole in his chest. (Name) is simply the latest. As much as it hurts, he tries to swallow it and go on with his days. Then… they’re back in his life. He’s never heard of something like this happening, though perhaps he shouldn’t be shocked about it. If it’s possible, then perhaps it has happened before, hasn’t it? He’ll have to look into it. Regardless, he’s more than happy to embrace their new abilities since he’s still able to hold and kiss them. This is even better than if he’d made them into a Bizarre Doll.

This is the whole point of being a Grim Reaper, isn’t it — to be surrounded by death, having it taint all the good in one’s life? He thought he was used to that, until it meant losing the person who turned his dull world bright. He’s thrown himself into his work, hoping for a heavy distraction that will turn off his feelings so he doesn’t have to feel the pain. Before he knows what’s happening, (Name) is back, and… the feelings are overwhelming. At first he doesn’t think he can even touch them, so they have to be the one to initiate that. Once they do, he melts into them, and murmurs that he felt so alone without them. He doesn’t want to feel like that ever again. And… well, he doesn’t have to. Thank God.

Now imagine your tattoo is already grey from the moment you're born (since Reapers commited s******) meaning your soulmate d*ed before you were even born! Everyone feels sorry for you but you accepted the fact. But one day, your tattoo unexpectedly starts to glow!

He’s… a little sad for you, that you lived so much of your life thinking you’d be alone forever. Even though he knows people are born alone and die alone, they shouldn’t live alone. He always knew he’d have someone, based on his own tattoo, but you must have been so worried. As soon as the two of you meet, he apologizes for what he’s done to himself, because it led to you suffering and wondering and feeling like something wasn’t right. However, now the two of you have found each other; even if his afterlife ends up being cut short by his illness, he intends to spend the rest of it getting to know you. And… hopefully you’re happy getting to know him.

As much as he regrets what led you to him, he’s grateful he found you. At some points, he would stare at his own tattoo and will it to turn grey, simply so he could know you would stop being tortured by the thought that he was dead. (And stop eating at him with guilt, knowing that he’d doomed you before you were even aware of him.) You didn’t let the so-called impossibility stop you, and… he found you, at last. It’s… okay, that it’s him you ended up with? You’re not disappointed? Well. At least now the two of you can be together without any cares. Now that he has you, he promises, he’ll do anything for you.

Goodness, it’s about time you showed up! They’ve been waiting for you, you know? Of course… they know they haven’t done themself any favors. Unfortunately. By killing themself before they could meet their soulmate, they’ve effectively made you think you’re never going to find them. They’ve been watching their own tattoo daily, excited by your feelings of passion when it turns red and wanting to rip apart whatever made you sad when it turns blue. And here you are, at long last! They’re ever so delighted that you didn’t give up looking for them. You held out hope for them, and now they get to be with you. It’s like a fairytale, and now they get to live with you, happily~ ever~ after~

That’s just his luck, isn’t it… that he’s fated to have died before his intended ever existed. He’s angry at himself that he took his life away, but he can’t help thinking — would he have had someone else if he didn’t? If he stayed alive, would he simply have no soulmate at all, because there would be no way to be with you if he hadn’t died? It makes his head spin and he loves it, some unknowable questions to ponder over. He’s overjoyed that he finally gets to have you, though, so as long as the two of you are together, he doesn’t fret over what might have happened. As long as he isn’t a letdown to you, he’s glad that things eventually ended up where they did. You’re the best puzzle of his life, and even if he never figures you out… he loves the adventure of trying.

God, he was starting to think he’d never get to be with you. And here come to find, you thought you were fated to be alone from the start? He’s gone through so many people trying to see who it was who was his. Countless one-night stands, endless breakups when it became clear he wasn’t compatible… there’s never any way to know for sure. He’s been lonely, searching for you. There’s a little guilt that you had to live for so long feeling lonely too… though, now that you’re together, he’s prepared to thoroughly enjoy being with you. He’ll show you the best of this life that he has to offer, if you’ll let him!

Damn, did you really wait all this time for him? Instead of just going off and trying to find someone else? He held out for you because he knew you were alive, but if he thought his soulmate was dead… he would probably give up on the idea entirely. A person only gets one, right? He’s disappointed in himself that he made you wait, that you almost certainly felt isolated and pitied and a million other things. It’s bullshit, and he’s the one who put you through it by killing himself. Then again, it may not have worked out this way if he hadn’t, so… it’s complicated. If nothing else, he’s thankful he’s met you at last; he thoroughly teases that now he has even more of a reason to want to be done with work.

You must have known they would find you soon enough! You never gave up hope, ja? Here they are with you now! It’s not something that they really like thinking about in general; the fact that they took their own life. It’s worse that doing so led to you thinking you were destined to be alone forever, so it’s something they have to confront particularly after first meeting you. They’re… sad that what they did led to you suffering. They never wanted to hurt anyone but themself. Even then, it’s… ugh. It’s a lot. They’re just so happy that you’ve found them now, that finally they have their beloved! You must have been so lonely, so they plan to make up for lost time. They also take all the photographs of you, wanting to have as many as they can. They’re so excited to start building a life with someone!

This is… it’s real, at last? After waiting for so long, the two of you have finally found each other? He was starting to think it would never happen, that even though his own tattoo proves otherwise, he was doomed to be alone. So many people he’s seen die, so many he’s lost, and none of them have been the one. The very first one he lost drove him to kill himself out of grief, and… it’s infuriating, that this was the thing that would lead him to meet you. He’s waited so long for you, and you’ve been in so much pain just like him, because you thought for most of your life that he was dead and would stay dead. But… he’s here now, love. He’s here. You’ll never be alone or doubt his love again.

It’s not any great surprise, is it, that what he did begets ever more punishment? It’s just a tragedy to him, that his actions led to you being punished. You’re the one who’s been hurt and has thought that the person you were meant to be with was someone you’d never meet. He’s not happy with himself, that you’ve been through so much and it’s his fault. All he can do now that he’s together with you is try to make sure the rest of your life is better than what came before. Even though he works a lot, surrounded by reminders of death, he’s with you as much as he possibly can be. Any time that isn’t taken by his job is yours. While he may not be overly emotional… there’s no denying that he loves you, that he’s glad to have you, and that he’ll do anything to make sure you know it.

Headcanons of Ludger in a relationship and/or as an expecting father?

Color him surprised, because he thought Reapers weren’t actually capable of having children. Isn’t that part of the punishment, to be surrounded by death and have no connection to giving life? Though, he doesn’t pay a whole lot of attention to the ins and outs of anything beyond daily life, so it’s possible he just… missed that. Ah, well. He secretly has always wanted to start a family (especially as he never had one while he was human), so it’s a pleasant surprise.

If he’s not married to his S/O when he finds out they’re pregnant, he remedies that very quickly. He goes through the whole thing quite fast, with Sascha being his person of honor, of course, and a ring which is simple but full of love. Their getting pregnant was the last thing which convinced him to take that step; he’s ready, he just needed a little push.

He’s not really the type of person to stress about all these things. After all, there’s only so much a person can control, right? A lot of the things that relate to having a baby plainly can’t be controlled at all. When the baby comes, if they’re healthy, how much labor the delivery will put his S/O through. He chooses to focus on what he can control ― making sure the two of them are prepared for when the baby does arrive. He concentrates on getting supplies, trying to research on how best to help his S/O through a birth, that sort of thing. The things he can control, he does so very, very well.

The only person he tells until his S/O’s bump is showing is Sascha. That’s because he trusts them with his life, so he can trust that they won’t breathe a word about this to anyone else. He’s so happy when he gets the news, he has to tell someone. That someone happens to be Sascha. He makes them swear to secrecy, because, well… so many bad things could happen. To him, the idea of having to tell people, “Oh… we’re not pregnant anymore…” along with his own grief, should something happen, is more painful than waiting a few months to get out of the woods for the worst possibilities.

His S/O and the concept of having a family just sort of sand down his rough edges. He softens, he settles, he becomes more responsible and domestic. He no longer looks for reasons to slack off of work, except when those reasons mean he gets to go home and be with his S/O and unborn child early. If not, he works harder than he did before. Life is precious, so he has to treat it as such… even when that precious life is the end of a life.

He often falls asleep with a hand over his S/O’s stomach. Even while he’s exhausted and aching right down to his bones, he’s viciously protective of them and his baby. Nothing is going to happen to them unless it goes through him first. And if something does go through him first? That something better say a prayer and kiss their ass goodbye, because Rudger will find a way to come back as a ghost or something just to make sure they don’t get to his family.

a few of these are a lil sad or have sad undertones, but hopefully still what you're looking for!

also all the Reapers are technically too many for headcanon sets (my limit is 5 characters for headcanon sets) so I did more a single headcanon/reaction style! :)

Gardening, for sure! His interest in that started as a morbid fascination with, well… thorns. Trying to understand his own illness through using plants which had thorns, even though he knew it was a silly comparison. Still, he’s grown to love flowers. He doesn’t have as much time as he might like to tend to a full garden, but he has a few small plants around the house that he can manage. Erica flowers are his favorite; he’s also partial to succulents, though. They’re hardy, don’t need a lot of babying, and are incredibly hard to kill.

Reading, even though some people consider him very much not the bookworm ‘type’. Knowledge is power, and if he can learn things that might come to be useful by casually browsing through the morning paper’s headlines or happening upon something in a novel, all the better. The rookies should take a page from his book! (Haha.) He’s definitely partial to newspapers, as an attempt to keep informed about current events. However, he’s no stranger to losing himself in a good mystery… or, occasionally, something romantic.

Cosmetics!! Usually on themself, although they will happily give makeovers upon request! It’s perhaps a gauche interest in the time period, since people who wear a lot of makeup are often derided as prostitutes. That doesn’t exactly work on Grell — they couldn’t care less if people tell them they’re wearing ‘whore paint’. Whatever pronouns they happen to be using, they like to look feminine, and cosmetics make them feel like they have that look. Their favorite thing to experiment with is lipstick, but, really, even their so-called unfavorites are favorites.

Hmm… board games and card games? Being in Forensics, he has a bit more downtime than the average field working Reaper, so he needs something to keep him from dying a second time out of boredom. It just can’t be something conspicuous that looks like slacking off. He’s gotten quite good at chess, though he’s also partial to dominoes and solitaire. Also, he enjoys building houses of cards. He takes immense pride in spending days on them and showing them off to people.

… Does drinking and picking people up at bars count as a hobby? Because that’s something he enjoys doing! Really, he hasn’t been a Reaper long enough to quite realize just how important a different hobby is. So he’s mostly been sticking to things he did whilst human; drinking, flirting, having sex. In the future, it might dawn on him that he can’t just keep doing the things he did as a human and expect everything to be great. Perhaps once that does settle in… he’ll give modeling and fashion a go? He’s got the looks and sense for it!

Smoking. That’s kind of a hobby, isn’t it? Bah. He doesn’t focus on hobbies too terribly much, because he’s busy enough. Once he’s done with work, he likes to just relax, smoke, and sleep. That said, he’s sort of interested in machinery and engineering, like… watches, clocks, music boxes, that kind of thing. If he ever decides to pick something up other than a cigarette, he might give that a try. He’s discovered through helping Sascha with their equipment that he does like tinkering with things. That may be… not quite as relaxing as a cigarette, but close.

Ah, their work is their whole life!! Well, hm… kind of. In the sense that they count themself lucky their job involves their hobby, at least. Photography is their biggest love, so getting to spend their whole workday snapping pictures? They adore that. After they clock out of work, they spend the rest of their day taking photos of landscapes, or pretty people they see, or interesting bugs. They probably even take a photo of their dinner. Although they’ll eventually need to find a different hobby, they’re content to do this until their passion spirals into a burnout.

Ain’t his hobbies obvious? He’s clearly trying to do research for a big book of jokes he hopes to compile and publish someday! Hahahaha! Kidding aside, he’s been burning the candle at both ends for such a long time that he hasn’t had a real hobby in a while. The one thing which comes close is that he bakes quite a bit. Biscuits, tea cakes, scones… he’s always cooking up something sweet. This is probably the saving grace that keeps him from going completely batty; while baking, he can relax and focus solely on this one thing, and then he has something to savor once he’s done.

Reapers have no time nor need for hobbies. That’s the whole point of being a Reaper. This existence is a punishment, an eternity of work to understand the value of human life so they realize it’s something precious and shouldn’t be thrown away like they all did. He’s… intense about this. He views sleep as his ‘guilty pleasure’ hobby, even though it’s something that Reapers (unlike demons or angels) do need. Aside from that, he’s pretty much all business. He does get a little relaxation and pleasure out of cooking, even after a long day… but you’d be hard pressed to get him to admit it’s a hobby.

Ah, well… that’s… hm. He supposes anything is possible, although he’s never really heard that one before. That said, he’s actually quite curious, because Reapers as a whole do have technology that’s a bit more advanced than the Victorian time’s. So he thinks it’s not out of the realm of possibility for someone who lives in the future to, well, time travel. Definitely expect him to pick your brain about some things! He does try not to overstep boundaries or overwhelm you. It’s just… he’s inquisitive by nature, so, he want to know what the future’s like.

Nothing is impossible if one really thinks about it, right? Mostly he’s rather laidback about the whole thing, given that your being here is probably the result of an accident by one of their own. He’s surprised, sure, but it’s not like this is something he ever considered as impossible. In the rest of the chaos, he keeps a level head, and he lets you know that you can always come by and see him if you need anything or if you need a break from the others. More than anything he wants you to feel safe and comfortable while they try to figure out a way to get you home.

Goodness, look at you in all your futuristic glory! Are you showing your ankles?! Fashion must be quite different in the future… and as someone who both adores fashion and isn’t a stranger to a bit of scandal, they want to know all about it. However, this whole mess is almost certainly their fault in the first place. So they’re relegated to sneaking conversations with you as they try to fix it, begging you to tell them what kinds of styles are popular in your time. They’ll get you back, though only after you’ve helped them cheat at trendsetting.

Fascinating… should this even be possible, he wonders? He’s never heard of someone coming to visit another time from the past or the future! As someone who works in Forensics, figuring out puzzles, gathering information, he’s incredibly interested in you. He doesn’t even care that Grell is dragging their feet in doing their job, because it means he can investigate you, and your home, and what happened to bring you here. Although he might be overzealous at first, hopefully you can forgive him; he’s just so excited about all this.

Well, that’s, ah… that’s not something you see every day, is it? … Shite, well, he’s kind of bad at pretending he knows what to say here! Even though he’s certainly surprised by all this, he doesn’t really know how to react, to be honest. This is another one of Grell’s screw-ups, so that part isn’t new. He does feel kind of bad for you, though, stuck in a different time period where you don’t belong and have no one to turn to. If you’re up for a pint, he’ll for sure take you out. Along with Eric, he’s one of the Reapers who tries to treat you more like a friend than anything else, to make sure you’re as safe and comfortable as you can be while you’re under their care.

He can feel the headache starting already, and honestly he’s just glad that this wasn’t his nor Sascha’s fuck-up. Not his circus, not his Goddamn monkeys. However, he does feel a little pang of sympathy for you. It’s not like he doesn’t understand what it’s like to be in the wrong place at the wrong time; it, er, just so happens that you’re going through it a bit more literally than he ever has. He likely won’t approach you directly unless you come to him first, but he does sort of use Sascha to keep an eye on you. Just until all this is fixed, no matter what, he absolutely doesn’t want harm coming to you or anything like that.

Smile for the camera, because they’re going to take so many pictures of you!! Just, well, you know, to keep for themself once you’re gone since they’ll be sad then, so they can at least look back on memories. They are thrilled to have someone from the future in their company! In no small part it’s because humans in general fascinate them, but anything new and unusual also catches their attention. Though they occasionally seem to see you as something of a novelty, asking so many questions… they really do hope you think of them as a friend, too. One thing is sure, they always have a smile for you, even just before you leave to go home.

What a laugh!! No, no, really, this is the funniest thing he’s seen in decades. Well, the funniest thing that’s happened because a Reaper screwed up, at any rate. A big part of him wants to keep you around as long as possible, getting information from you, if only because that might help him achieve his end goals. However… the man isn’t without a heart. He’s experienced enough loss in his life to know that you probably have loved ones waiting for you. That you were ripped away from them, no warning, no explanation, no path home. So, though he’ll enjoy you while you’re here and ask you a lot of things… when it’s time for you to leave, he simply gives you a ‘shoo’ gesture and urges you to “ah, well… back you go, then, my dear.”

Lord above, he’s never going to get out from under the paperwork on this one. Never going to happen. He’s going to be drowning in overtime for the rest of his unlife. The good thing is that he has a clear villain to blame: Sutcliff, as usual. He wastes zero time in barking at Grell to fix this, lighting a fire under their ass, (not that they listen), and, while generally unconcerned with the goings-on of humans, he assures you that he’ll get this sorted. Even though it’s a migraine and a mountain of extra work for him, let it never be said that he doesn’t do his best to aggressively set things right. He’ll make sure you get home one way or another… even if, when the time comes, it might be bittersweet to see you go.

So I just finished watching a play-through of The Quarry, and I have to wonder... in a scenario where the reapers are in an 80's B Horror Movie, what roles would they play? Who would die first/last? Let's say it's a summer camp themed movie, just to narrow it down lol

ALAN is the first one to die, simply because he has to investigate what’s going on. He can’t ignore it or go get help; he goes right into the thick of things with little preparation, by himself… and pays dearly for it.

ERIC is the red herring, because he’s a little suspicious, isn’t he? Everyone thinks he’s the killer or helping the killer… turns out he was trying to investigate things. Of course, as luck would have it, he ends up just as dead as the rest of the cast.

GRELL is the cheerleader stereotype, too busy flirting and/or fucking everyone in sight to worry about the killer. Predictably, although they do put up a fight, they get killed shortly after doing the horizontal tango. What a waste!

OTHELLO is the nerd, the smart one who pieces things together and figures out who the killer is! It’s just… quite the pity he does so a little too late. Before he can warn anyone else, he’s picked off, and the final chase probably involves stumbling across his body.

RONALD is the jock, sort of like the other half to Grell’s cheerleader. He’s also preoccupied with flirting and impressing people, though he may last just a bit longer for the simple fact that he keeps striking out. When he finally does get laid, stab goes the knife.

RUDGER is the skeptic, despite seeing all the evidence. He thinks there must be some other reason for the ‘disappearances’, maybe thinking it’s a prank, and thinks the killer is just a legend. Of course, by the time he believes, it doesn’t help him a bit.

SASCHA is the one who believes the legends and, in a camp setting, tries violently to protect the children under their care when the killer comes a-knocking. They don’t realize the killer isn’t after the kids, though. They still wind up dead, but not before being able to get out a warning…

UNDERTAKER is the villain, naturally, the big, scary baddie everyone else is running from. His past is sympathetic and he may not be entirely unreasonable in his thinking; it’s how he executes things that are chilling. There’s method in his madness, alright. However, there is also madness in his methods.

WILLIAM is the final girl guy, surviving until the very end thanks to his intelligence and, unfortunately, his companions’ sacrifices. Though he may have spent some of his time on the sidelines, now he’s ready to destroy the monster who’s been terrorizing them all. Despite the scars he’s left with, at least he took the villain down with him.

… Or did he? Is that a SEQUEL HOOK we smell?!

The reapers with children?

Alan

He’sthe perfect mix of rules and freedom when it comes to his child.While he’ll give them the opportunity to perhaps host a party withhis permission, he has no problem punishing them if he catches themwith alcohol or cigarettes. When they were younger, he sang to themabout wanting to be “somebody’s light” just like he did toEric. They’ve told him before that he’s their light; so inhis child, he’s actually found a reason to push through living.

Eric

Actually,he’s more responsible than one might think. He keeps his child ontop of their education, reading to them every night when they’reyoung and later making sure they’re doing their classwork. A mainfocus of his is teaching them about their heritage – both as aReaper and their Scottish side from him. That said, he’s alsohelped them bend rules more than once, so he’s definitely not thepatron saint of parenting.

Grell

Theyare the absolute definition of “hands-off parent”. Although theylove their child, they prefer to just let their child make their ownmistakes. Unfortunately, this also involves a lack of discipline, soit’s… pretty likely that Grell’s child might turn out to beeither a wild rule-breaker or simply a giant brat. Grell is not greatwith kids, but they’ll do their best at raising a child should theyhave one. (Their best parenting just… isn’t… that great.)

Othello

Hecan go one of two ways with his child, to be honest. Either he’sdiligent about getting them to do the work they’re supposed to bedoing, or he lets them slack off and have a good time with him. It’snot really a balance, though; it’s mixed signals. Given that hedoesn’t socialize too much, he’s kind of in the dark about how tobe a better parent, and just wants his child to be happy. He’sprobably going to end up asking others for advice.

Ronald

He’snot exactly the best parent around, but he’s far from the worst.While it’s very important to him that his kid has downtime, it’salso important to him that they honor their commitments. He triesvery hard to keep a harmony between the two, and surprisingly, itworks. Despite not being a natural at parenthood, he settles into itpretty nicely. He also listens to his child because he caresimmensely about hearing their feelings directly from them.

Rudger

He’spossibly one of the sternest parents as far as Reapers go. Despitethe fact that he really wants to give his child freedom, he findshimself having a hard time letting go no matter what age they are,because he gets easily worried by them being independent. His childhas rigid limits, curfews, rules, etc. As they get older, he might bea little better at loosening his grip. He just really loves them anddoesn’t want anything to happen to them, and finds it difficult tonot always be there to keep them safe.

Sascha

They’revery much a laid-back parent, although that doesn’t mean they’relackadaisical or distant. It just happens that they tend not to be aworrier and they think it’s best for their child to have somespace. This causes some problems when Sascha is perhaps a bitreluctant to issue punishments, but if they feel it’s reallyimportant, they have little issue with putting their foot down.They’re also very affectionate, which comes in handy – a commonpunishment is for them to kiss their child’s cheek or say “Loveyou, sweetie pie!” in front of all their friends.

William

Meetthe other of the sternest Reaper parents. He gives his childboundaries and enforces them with the iron fist of a dictator. Thatsaid, it’s only because he knows firsthand how dangerous the worldcan be, and doesn’t want any harm coming to them. Especially if hecan prevent it. He does, however, give them some slack as they growup. By the time they’re an adult, he knows he can’t control them,nor should he try. He loves them very much, and just hopes that he’staught them well enough to make good decisions.

Undertaker

He’sclearly the most fun parent, but that means all the heavy work ofparenting is left to his S/O. (Or, if he’s a single parent, well…he’s going to need a lot of help.) Most of the time hebasically lets his child do whatever they want, because what’s theharm? They’re an immortal being! As long as they don’t piss offany other Reapers, everything will be fine! He’s even morehands-off than Grell, which means that even though he adores hischild, he’d rather be their friend than their father.

How would the Reapers react to finding out they had a teenage daughter that is a goofball and a menace? Is this too specific? Idk. I just imagine all of them basically as the white guy blinking meme.

Alan

Firstof all, he’d be overjoyed and a little surprised that he had achild at all. As for the goofball-menace part, well… Alan is theby-the-book type, but also very passionate about things. He’d bekind of at odds with his daughter, and not sure how to handle her.Chances are he’d end up being the one dragging her from the sceneof a prank, lecturing her about why she can’t do these kinds ofthings.

Eric

Almostimmediately, he’d want to give her a hug. That’s just how Ericgreets family. He might raise eyebrows at her various antics, buthe’d also be the one laughing his ass off at the ones heparticularly approved of. He absolutely adores her, and wants to makeher feel welcome. That said, he’d try to figure out somekind of punishment for the more extreme stuff and avoid going back onhis word.

Grell

Theyabsolutely fucking love her! Grell is just as much of a menaceas their daughter, so everyone can see where it came from. They’realways helping her with her shenanigans, no matter what exactly it isthat she’s planning. Grell will probably even break rules to helptheir daughter. (Although, that’s not exactly big news.) The familythat preys together stays together.

Othello

He’sshocked to find out that he has a daughter who’s this old.Why didn’t anyone tell him before?? Even so, he finds hertemperament and escapades completely charming, and loves to give heradvice for them if she needs it. Unfortunately, she uses this advice,which means he’s easily traced back to being part of her pranks.Once he gets punished, it’s only a matter of time before he thinksup a way to punish his little girl.

Ronald

Heis absolutely, utterly, irrevocably floored by the revelationthat he actually has a daughter. Despite the fact that he’s anadult, and has been for quite some time, he’s still young enough tobe William’s son. He tries really hard to be responsible,especially because he realizes that these are probably importantyears in his daughter’s life and doesn’t want her to screw themup too badly. The fact that he likes to party and is sometimes amenace doesn’t exactly help his authority.

Rudger

Whilehe will inwardly admit the fact that he’s happy to have a daughter,he does not like the situation in general. What did her motherdo to this girl that she turned out this way? No mischief will betolerated on his watch, although… that doesn’t mean it won’thappen. Whenever he gives her any little bit of freedom, heunderstands that something untoward has the potential to happen.Sascha as a babysitter probably doesn’t help. His punishments arepretty fair despite probably seeming cruel at the time, though.

Sascha

Oh,they are undeniably excited! To think they’ve not only got a child,but a daughter who’s equal parts upbeat and offbeat! Truly they’reblessed… until she decides to do something that messes with theircamera. Sascha certainly has the best punishments, although they trynot to punish very much. They try very hard to encourage theirdaughter’s creative side without encouraging the part of her thatfeels the need to antagonize others. How effective this strategy isvaries.

William

Hisreaction is literally just one long groan. He’d actually feelbetter if there was some paperwork he could do for this. How could hehave a daughter who’s in her teens without him knowing it? And, oh,his headache gets even worse when he realizes what kind ofpersonality she has. Thank goodness he’s had years of experiencedealing with Grell. Even so, William is probably going to be very…very strict with his daughter for a LONG time.

Undertaker

Thewhole thing is one giant laugh to him. He’s got a daughter? Wholikes to cause chaos?? And she’s old enough that these years willshape her adulthood??? … He could have some fun with this. And funhe will have, because he’s the kind of person who wouldn’t giveup this opportunity. He loves her to death, but he absolutely willnot discourage any of her behavior. Of course, that may lead to theauthorities being the ones to punish her rather than her father, so…pros and cons.

In an endless quest for entertainment (and maybe to kill some loneliness), you’ve found yourself perusing your phone’s app store lately, looking for something new and interesting.

The app which catches your eye more than anything else is called “Kuroshitsuji”, and it advertises itself as a wealth of A.I.s suited to helping look after your home. The preview and description promise a realistic experience if you want someone to talk to, and perfect efficiency in any assistance you might require. The app can be linked to virtually anything in your house, helping serve you by cooking, cleaning, controlling appliances and electronics, as well as providing companionship.

It’s free, so, you figure what’s the harm, right? App downloaded!

The base app comes with a few characters, each with their own personality while still dedicated to being of service to you, and all of them with a Victorian aesthetic. In exploring the app, you see that there are also offered DLCs for purchase; and single characters from the various DLCs available for purchase without having to buy the pack containing all of a DLC’s characters.

You might find one character to truly bond with, or you might find several. Some of them seem to lack content, as if they weren’t fleshed out before being added... but the more you speak to them, the more they almost feel real. It’s as if you’re having genuine conversations with actual people, even if they also help you to maintain your household.

However, there’s something strange underneath all the dialogue. The more you interact with your chosen character(s), the more they seem to talk about their memories... the more emotional they seem to get.

One day, they make a chilling comment about a memory of being uploaded.

Is it... possible that these A.I.s aren’t just A.I.s who were created?

Could they have been real people at some point?

Who’s behind all this, and why?

Are you fine continuing to simply interact with your A.I. servant/friend/lover, or do you need to solve the mystery?

... Well, just don’t stare into the abyss too long, love. It might start to stare back.
