Takako Irie (Sanjuro)—I don't know a lot about her, but I found her when I was going down a Kurosawa rabbit hole on Wikipedia and I think she's just luminous? Also Wikipedia says in her later career she became known as a "ghost cat actress" because she starred in a string of ghost stories! Very very cool!

Olivia de Havilland (Adventures of Robin Hood, Gone With the Wind, The Heiress)— The woman who took on the Studio System at the height of their power and Won! A double Oscar winner! Is magnetic and beautiful in everything she's in and gave us all the juicy scandal with her sibling rivalry with Joan Fontaine! Before the Oscar Slap was the Oscar sister snub! Also everything she wears in Robin Hood she makes beautiful even a purple green and orange monstrosity how does she do it! Anyway this scene is one of my old Hollywood favourites

Broke the contract system and won freedoms for actors (the de Havilland Law is still in effect I believe). 2 time Oscar winner. Beautiful and smart

She legally challenged the movie studios' unfair contracts and won, setting a precedent for other actors to be treated more fairly. This was at great cost to her financially and essentially getting her blacklisted for years but the resulting judicial opinion is still known as the De Havilland Law and has won her a great deal of praise and admiration.

Her performance in The Heiress is one of my all-time favorites, she’s so good at making melodrama feel real and grounded without sacrificing any of the passion/drama.

Serenely beautiful, she struck a balance between crowd-pleasing fluff and prestigious drama. Famously at odds with her equally successful sister Joan Fontaine, she was too much of a lady to ever say anything public. Successfully sued Ryan Murphy for portraying her as a saucy gossip in Feud.

Meet the newest member of the family, Sakura! I'm giving her the first name Sakura as her coloration reminds me of a cherry blossom, and when she gets older her adult habitat will be Japanese garden themed.

I wanted to give her a middle name that sounds nice together, and represents her well- but it's hard to choose! Maybe a vote can help me pick. Kurīmu is what I've been calling her, but not sure if that is her final name. She's white like cream! And the words creamsicle, cloud, and star didn't have quite the right ring to them in Japanese. Sakura Kurosawa is a fun play on names but I'm not sure it really fits her. She is extremely fast and nimble, and while most other snakes freeze she runs faster than a creature without external legs should be capable- Haia would describe that aspect of her.

Shinju means pearl, which can be considered a rock/gem which would let her name be the inverse of her sister's name (Scoria Rose = Rock Flower, Sakura Shinju = Flower Rock)

Himari means light and love. I'd been thinking of calling her either light or love and this name means both. She is white like light, and pink with love. And her life with me I only wish to let her know love.

yeah ive caught up so dw haha, his friends surnames get mentioned wayyy later in vol 10 (i think? thats the first time i could find them anyway) so ill put them below for u (spoilers ig if someone doesnt wanna know yet lol)

Dia would lumber into the Kurosawa household's dining hall with one last cooking pot's worth of food. Grunting and huffing up a storm as she fought past her own drooping bulk to place what had to the the last piece of dinner in-place. "Hnnfff... Hfff... T-There... Hah... Thish should... be enough for ush..." She'd wheeze as placing the pot down against her belly caused her entire mass to wobble like a mountain of blubber. The room was practically filled with food. From savory meals and platters to matcha delicacies and plenty of sweets and candy for her darling younger sister; Dinner was wall-to-wall with only two spaces open. One for her and one for Ruby.

"Thish... really should be plenty, right...?" She asked herself; a fat finger scratching at the mole almost lost in her chin folds. To be fair, the oversized idol saw it more like a snack in her fat-addled mind.

"A-Ahem... Ruby??? Come! Dinner'sh all ready for ush...!"

I can't BELIEVE radio drama kurosawa blatantly lied about having no power at his apartment as an excuse to stay with adachi and take care of him when he was sick, only to get called out by his sister who's staying at his place RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM!!

1) STILL SO GOOD! CHERRY MAGIC (episode 4) IS STILL SO GOOD!

2) Hot damn, more New in short-sleeved button-ups? Humina.

3) Okay, I didn’t realize this about my love for Cherry Magic Japan and What Did You Eat Yesterday?, but I haven’t reflected much on the impact of high-level comedic internal monologues on BLs, and how they offer such hilarious breaks to the sometimes-usual pace of romance development. I am LOVING what the CMT cast is doing with the monologues; I’m especially enjoying Junior Panachai as Jinta — he doesn’t carry quite, like, the age impact as the original Tsuge, but he’s got all of Tsuge’s manic messiness, which I’m obsessed with. I was CACKLING during this episode.

4) Dude, Tay. Tay is like, taking the influence of Kurosawa and adding a dash of powdered adrenaline. Spicy! Less campy than Machida Keita’s Kurosawa, but again, these monologues help to add back the comedic bit that might go awash in the expected GMMTV sensual simmering.

5) And I like that New’s Achi isn’t holding back either from his sensual wonderings. He’s letting his eyes and body language communicate Achi’s ponderings — Achi isn’t as physically hyper and reactive as Adachi in terms of the SURPRISE of it all, but New is really letting Achi consider every aspect of what’s happening with his feelings. I like that we get to know a touch earlier than in CMJ about where we think Achi’s heart is heading.

6) I craaaaacked up at the CLEAR OBVIOUSNESS of Pai’s sao wai status, while Fujisaki’s fujoshi status in her Japanese office was a touch more subtle. THE WALLPAPER, girl, lmao. (Even Toyota Yuu, the mangaka of the original Cherry Magic manga, commented on how cute Pai was, 🤣🤣😭😭)

7) Songkran was really lovely to see, in all of its peaceful and hectic ways — I like that the show continues to emphasize a very distinct Thai vibe to this adaptation, including seeing Achi’s house up close.

I missed seeing Karan in a dreamy silk robe with the big sister reveal, but alas, ya can’t ask for everything!
