I Hope I Can Keep You Warm
(tw: Kurapika's trauma, nudity, angst)
(no this is not smut. For now at least. there is some nice wholesome fluff to make up for the angst. word count- 2,982)
Panting breaths, echoing footsteps, and the sound of snow underneath your boots crunching underneath you reverberate through the crisp night air uninterrupted. Your mind is racing with panic while your body is filled with adrenaline. One thing you know for certain is- you were beginning to regret your decision to help Kurapika with this dangerous mission.
"I'm surprised you even asked me to meet you here," You sit across from Kurapika in a small, dimly lit cafe, "When's the last time we've seen each other in person."
Kurapika pushes aside the tinge of guilt he feels from your words and responds emotionlessly, "I do suppose it's been quite a while. My apologies," He does feel genuinely sorry for not reaching out to you, but he has been very careful as to not drag his friends down with him.
"I know you're busy, but it's nearly impossible to get ahold of you," You take a sip from your warm drink, glancing down at the table sitting between you and him, your eyes suddenly drawn to the intricate details of the wood, "Everyone is worried about you, you know? Including me."
He feels taken back by your sincerity, "I know. I wish I didn't have to burden their minds as I have been."
A lingering sigh passes through your lips, "But there's nothing you can do about it?"
"Indeed."
"Yeah, I thought you might say that," You set your drink back down on the table and cross your arms, still finding it difficult to meet his gaze as you're pouring out your thoughts to him, "I understand your way of thinking, Kurapika. I really do. I used to think the same way, but this is just too destructive for you."
"I understa-"
"You don't," You sigh again and sit up straight, making direct eye contact with him, "Not really anyway."
Kurapika wasn't used to someone conversing with him so bluntly and intelligently. Leorio told him off all of the time but it was hard to make sense of his words as he shouts out his thoughts incoherently. Maybe (Y/N) actually did understand him. You would be the first person to have a firm grasp of his point of view.
"I can lecture you as much as I want but it's not really gonna change anything, is it? I'm not going to deter you from being stubborn and always working alone," You uncross your arms and set your elbow on the table, resting your chin in the palm of your hand, "Just answer a call from them once in a while. It's the least you can do to repay them."
His eyes widen in surprise for a brief second before he nods, letting out a sigh, "Very well. You're right."
"I know."
A quiet chuckle escapes his lips as he rolls his eyes. It's the first time in a long time that he's laughed, or smiled for that matter.
"So, why did you ask me to meet you here?" You ask him with furrowed brows.
He bites his lip nervously, realizing the only reason he asked you to spend time with him for the first time in a long time was only for a dangerous favor he needed to ask of you. The blonde-haired man can feel your eyes boring holes into the back of his head and speaks up, "I need your help with something."
"Go figure," You already had deduced that he must need your help with something before you even accepted his invitation, "Care to elaborate?"
"It's a dangerous task and you are more than welcome to decline," He lets out a deep breath, "I have a lead on the location of a couple of pairs of scarlet eyes but the environment is less than ideal."
"Are they in a volcano or something?"
He shakes his head, "Mountains. The terrain and weather are dangerous and I'm quite unfamiliar with them. I'm unsure if I could survive by myself."
It's your turn to be surprised. It's very unlike Kurapika to admit something like that. He's a logical man, for the most part, but when it comes to the scarlet eyes- all that logic flies out the window.
"I'll go with you," Comes your quick response.
"I have yet to explain the rest of the details-"
You cut him off, "No need. If you're actually asking for help, I know you're desperate. I know I've been really tough on you today but that's because I want you to seek out help. I want you to seek out MY help. I want to help you, Kurapika. In any way, I can. I care about you."
The kurta suddenly feels flustered, looking away from you with a hint of a blush encasing his face, "Thank you, (Y/N). That truly means a lot to me," He hesitates for a moment, before turning back to look at you, "I care about you too. I won't allow you to get injured during this mission."
"I'll have to hold you to that!"
The atmosphere between the two of you becomes less heavy as you flash him a bright smile. You spend the rest of the day with him, just chatting and catching up.
Oh, if only you could turn back time.
"(Y/N)! Take my hand! Quickly!" Kurapika holds his hand out for you, the sense of urgency and fear very real in his voice.
You take his hand and he pulls you up out of the deep snow. You and him take off running again, the sound of multiple footsteps catching up to you. This effectively makes both you and Kurapika worry about whether you will both escape this lethal situation with your lives.
"Kurapika! This way!" You branch off to the right, taking a small path that eventually leads to a small cliff.
The blonde man freezes just before the cliff edge, while you dive headfirst in, leaping off the cliff without hesitation.
"(Y/N)!!" He reaches out for you, however, he's far too late to stop you.
You've never heard him shout so intensely, although you set this thought aside as you prepare for your landing. You tuck and roll as you meet the ground, your clothes disheveled and soaked. The jump wasn't all-too-far and the heavy layers of snow helped to shelter your fall a little.
"Jump!" You shout up to him, "It's not that far!"
He turns back for a moment, seeing a flashlight beam in the near distance through the trees. The kurta takes a deep breath before backing away from the cliff to run and leap off of it. He tucks and rolls as you did, and lands unharmed. He immediately grabs your hand and drags you along with him as he breaks out into a run again.
"We can lose them," He looks straight ahead of him, "However, that was incredibly stupid and dangerous!"
"Sorry. I thought it was the best option," You reply to him with a small shrug.
"And your judgement was correct," He notes the lack of footsteps in the distance, "Let's run a little bit further. We should be able to rest shortly."
You nod in agreement. After about 15 more minutes of running through snow-covered trees, you and Kurapika finally agree that you've lost them. At least for now.
"Let's take cover in there," He points out a small cave in the near distance, "It's probably our safest option."
"Yeah, that's a good idea."
With that being said, you and Kurapika enter the cave. It's a team effort to make a cozy campfire for you both to warm up next to. You take your backpack off and offer Kurapika some rations and water from your canteen.
He takes a sip of water, wiping the excess water from his mouth afterward, "I am still in disbelief that we did it."
"It was hard. Grueling even, but we did it," You let out a sigh of relief, "All we have to do now is get home."
Kurapika nods, although he feels complicated about hearing the word 'home'. What home? The kurta had nowhere and nobody to return to. He would just go on another mission to retrieve another pair of his brethren's eyes. He sighs, knowing damn well he doesn't deserve a home to return to in the first place. He should be dead like his brethren. In fact, there were many times a day when he questioned why he was the one that was allowed to live, although he would only allow these thoughts to fuel his hatred and thirst for vengeance.
He jumps at the warm touch of your hand on his thigh, "Kurapika? Are you okay?"
The way the campfire reflects in your eyes and plays against the delicate details of your face is not lost on him. His feelings of hopelessness are now replaced with something else. Something unwanted. Something he isn't sure how to react to.
He coughs into his hand in a pathetic display as a way to distract himself, "Y-yes, I'm fine."
Fortunately for him, the sound of the wind and snow picking up outside catches your attention. You stand up from where you were sitting and walk towards the entrance of the cave, "It looks like a snowstorm is blowing in."
"Is that so?" He's still trying to collect himself.
You nod, "Yeah, I think we're going to be stuck here for the night."
"We have plenty of rations if that is the case," He does his best to ease your concerns.
"Yeah, you're right," You sit back down beside him, pulling your knees up to your chest and leaning your head against them, "So, tell me what you're thinking. Looks like we have plenty of time to talk."
The blonde-haired man folds his arms across his chest, looking straight ahead at the crackling fire in front of him, "Or we could sit in silence."
"Suit yourself," You continue to watch him intently, "I have a feeling you'll give in eventually."
He turns to look at you, "And why is that?"
You shrug casually, "Just a feeling. Besides, it's not like we have much else to do."
His eyes fall on the fire again as he grows quiet for several moments, "You don't have family left either, (Y/N)?"
You raise an eyebrow at his sudden question, "No. Not any I know of anyway. Why do you ask?"
He shakes his head, "I was merely curious."
"Elaborate."
"Who do you go home to?" He refuses to make eye contact with you, the campfire flames reflecting in his grey eyes.
You cock your head slightly in confusion, "Nobody, I guess."
"Then why go home?"
You open your mouth to respond, but you come up empty. You cross your arms as you try to think of a good response to his strange question, "Where else would I go?" You end up countering him with another question.
"That's not really an answer," He points out to you.
"I know but it's the only logical response I can come up with," You feel stumped as you try to think up another response, "Are you meaning to say there's no point in going home if you don't really consider it a home?"
He feels a ghost of a smile playing on his lips. For some reason, he can't help but feel glad that you were able to read him so easily with such vague questions, "Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking."
"I guess in that case, I don't have a home?" You explain to him, lost in thought, "I've traveled a lot and stayed in a lot of shady areas. No place I've ever lived in has felt like home to me. They're just places to return to until I find that home."
"That's an interesting answer," He takes in your words, wondering if he could think the same way that you do.
You and him continue to talk throughout the night, the wind and snow swirling around dangerously outside. Thankfully, the cave provides reliable shelter so you don't feel the chill of the wind as badly as you should. You still find yourself shivering, holding your hands out in front of the fire in a futile effort to warm yourself.
It's late into the night now. Kurapika has been talking with you on and off, although he's been acting pretty vague. Your shivering hasn't ceased and you can feel yourself growing more and more exhausted.
"(Y/N)," Kurapika calls out to you but doesn't receive a response as you're beginning to nod off, "(Y/N)!"
Your eyes shoot back open, "W-what is it?" Your teeth are chattering from the cold.
"Have you not been able to get warm?" He's regarding you with an intense gaze now, "You've been shivering this whole time."
You shake your head in response, "My clothes are still really wet and cold."
"(Y/N)!' He shoots up from his spot and races up to you, "You're probably suffering from hypothermia! Why didn't you say something sooner??"
"I thought the fire would dry my clothes enough," You're considerably drowsy, slurring your words as you do your best to focus and keep your eyes open and alert.
He presses the back of his hand against your forehead, "You're freezing. We need to get you out of those wet clothes. Now."
"W-wait! I don't want to strip naked!" You make a lax effort to cover yourself with your arms, "I would get embarrassed."
"We are far beyond that being our biggest concern," He can't ignore your worries and grabs both of the blankets out of your backpack, "You can cover yourself with these while you change."
You nod as you cover yourself with them. Kurapika turns around to give you some privacy as you strip yourself down and wrap both blankets around yourself, "You can turn back around, Kurapika."
He lets out a relieved sigh when he turns around and sees you sitting upright, wrapped in warm blankets, "Good. We still need to warm you up as quickly as possible."
He adds a few more sticks of wood to the fire, adding to its intensity. Next, he goes through both of your backpacks in search of something that can be heated up over the fire. He decides to heat up a small can of beans and gives it to you.
You eat it quickly and you can feel yourself warming up a little bit, however, the wind from the snowstorm certainly isn't helping. You're still shivering.
Kurapika racks his brain for ways to keep your body temperature high enough to avoid hypothermia. Even if he raises it a tiny bit, the wind chill from outside still reaches the cave. It still reaches you. The person Kurapika cares most about. The person who is trying her hardest to hold her eyes open and stay conscious.
He comes to a realization.
I can't lose you.
Wordlessly, he begins stripping himself down. You watch him curiously, trying to figure out just what he's doing. You're having a harder time coming to logical thoughts than normal. You can feel your cheeks heating up as you finally decide to look away from him.
"(Y/N)."
"Yes?" You still refuse to look directly at him.
"I'm coming under the blankets with you," He says bluntly.
Your jaw almost drops in shock, "W-what do you mean?? You're completely naked!"
"Exactly," He starts, jumping into his explanation, "Skin-to-skin contact is going to be the best way to keep each other warm throughout the night. It's embarrassing, however, I refuse to let anything happen to you."
"Right, I forgot about that," A sigh escapes your lips, "Sorry, I can't think straight."
"It's not your fault," He takes a few steps closer to you, "Besides that-" He freezes, adamant to let the next string of words fall from his mouth, "I want to be vulnerable with you. You understand me. And I want to understand you too. Please allow me this."
You can't stop yourself from turning to face him with a surprised expression, "You mean that?" You feel your cheeks flush even more than they already have and you look away again.
"It's okay. You can look," He's unsure where this sudden burst of confidence came from, "If possible, I would like to give my whole self over to you," His full face is definitely flushed red but he ignores this feeling of butterflies in his gut.
You slowly turn to face him again, "The feeling is mutual," You hold the blanket open for him to join you.
He feels even more flustered, inwardly gushing at your beauty momentarily before sitting impossibly close to you. He lets out a deep breath as he lifts you up to straddle his lap while facing him. You let out a surprised squeak as he does so, feeling somehow overjoyed and bittersweet at the situation that has brought you closer to this stubborn man.
He wraps his arms around your back tightly as your thighs cling to his back. The kurta pulls your head flush against his chest, moving one of his hands to the back of your head, petting you ever-so-delicately.
"I hope I can keep you warm throughout the night."
"I don't think you'll have a problem with that," You can't help but wonder if your blonde-haired friend is having the same impure thoughts as you are. And if he is, you're wondering how you can get him to initiate these thoughts.
However, for now, you decide you'll just enjoy his warmth, erratic heartbeat, and candid vulnerability.
He speaks up suddenly, "This is the closest thing to a home I have ever felt."
His words come as a shock to you, although, you can't disagree with him. You understand him better than anyone. Because in the end, you two are the same.
Maybe you won't regret coming with him after all.

Hunter x Hunter Headcannons - When Their S/O Accidentally Hurts Themselves.
(Characters: Gon, Killua, & Kurapika)
Gon
You usually end up getting hurt when you and him are exploring Whale Island together or really just exploring in general.
You scrape your knee on a rock or get cut on a tree branch.
A small, insignificant injury that you don't really notice.
But Gon does.
"Y/N ! You're bleeding !"
You look down and find a small cut on your arm/leg.
"Huh. Guess I-"
"LET ME SEE!"
"Ack, G-Gon ?!"
He takes the time to fully look over the injury and makes sure you don't have any others. He's gentle when doing it though, and his hands are warm against your skin.
"Looks like that's the only one. Come on, let's go back to Aunt Mito's to patch it up."
You, of course, have no say in the matter as he grabs your hand and drags you back to his Aunt's house.
He immediately takes you into the bathroom and demands you sit on the toilet as he gathers supplies.
He's super gentle in tending to your wounds and makes sure that he never hurts you.
Sticks his tongue out in concentration when he puts band aids on you and they almost always have cute patterns on them.
And he always, always, has to kiss the area where you got hurt.
"There, all better!"
He's so cute it hurts and his excitement over taking care of you always makes you smile
"Thank you Gon."
He takes your hands and pulls you up, smooching your cheek.
"You're welcome! Now let's get some ice cream!"
Killua:
Your injuries usually end up coming from fighting or training. A black eye, sprained wrist, bruises, you name it.
"Baka," He grumbled, pressing an ice pack to your temple, "You could have dodged that."
"I know, I know." You said, wincing at the ice pack's sharp coldness against your skin.
Killua typically scolds you for getting hurt, but it doesn't phase you considering that he's usually right when it comes to why you got hurt in the first place.
Nonetheless, he's always pretty gentle when treating your wounds, and he additionally praises you on the better parts of the training or fighting you partook in.
"But you did give him a run for his money though. A few more hits and he would've been down. That last punch he landed on you was simply a lucky blow. His techniques weren't all that impressive."
"They sure FEEL impressive." You joked with a slight grimace, and Killua laughed, finishing up with his first aid.
"Okay, everything looks fine," he said, helping you off the counter you were sitting on, "Now let's go and train some more."
"Awe mannnn," you whined, clinging to his arm "Do we have toooo? I got my ass handed to me pretty good so shouldn't I take it easy?"
You did this quite often, using the fact that you were hurt to get out of excess training. You were a real piece of work, but Killua found it absolutely adorable.
Long story short, this boy can't say no to you.
He ruffled your hair, "Alright, alright. We'll take a break."
You knew what that meant.
"Yay! Movie time! I'll get the snacks!"
Pretty soon, you guys are seated on the sofa with mountains of chips and candy beside you. You're seated between Killua's legs as he gently smoothed over the area on your head where you got hurt with his hand
It was a happy moment. Until-
"You know this means extra training tomorrow right?" And he felt you slump in a pout against him.
"Killuaaaaaa."
Kurapika:
Injuries around Kurapika usually involve everyday activities, whether that means cutting your finger while cooking, hitting your head while cleaning, etc.
He was busy with paperwork when it happened. The next day, he had a serious business meeting and one of his suits needed mending so you took the initiative to do so yourself.
One of his crisp, white button ups was in your possession, part of it laying across your hand as you sewed up a rather noticeable hole.
You worked quietly, quickly.
Maybe a little too quickly.
"Ouch!"
Immediately, you dropped his shirt and the threaded needle and they fell to your lap as you hastily put your index finger in your mouth, wincing at the pain of the sudden prick.
Kurapika was by your side in an instant, and you were shocked by his haste as he squatted down next to your with widened, worried eyes.
"Darling, are you alright?"
You nodded, taking your finger out of your mouth.
"I'm fine. I just pricked myself with the needle. It's-"
"Give me your hand."
"H-huh?"
Before you could even act, Kurapika grabbed your hand and held your finger so it was in his view and you watched as a dot of dark, red blood beaded up from your skin.
He frowned.
"Hold on. I'll be right back. Don't move."
"But I'm-"
He was down the hall before you could finish, only to return a little while later with a first aid kit.
You chuckled.
Of course.
Once again, he took a seat by your side and held his hand out, "Let me see."
He's very gentle in treating your wounds, taking care to not hurt you even if the injury is minor. He always puts his focus on you when you're injured and you do the same as he treats you, finding it enticing how content and calm he looks while doing something as simple as wrapping your finger in a bandage.
He's quick and diligent, and soon you're as good as new.
"There we go. All done."
You smile, squeezing his palm as your hand is still laying in his.
"Thank you, Kurapika.
And of course, being the gentleman he is, he brings your hand up to his mouth and kisses the back of it, his nose softly nuzzling your injury.
"You're welcome, my love."

A Lonely Birthday
This seemed to get a lot of good feedback so I decided to also post this here.
A one-shot abt reader refusing to let Kurapika spend his birthday alone. Mainly fluff with a sprinkle of horny and angst.
Word count: 1,924
A dimly lit seedy hotel room isn't an ideal way for one to spend their birthday, but Kurapika couldn't care less at the moment. He sits at a poorly maintained desk, his bloodshot eyes glued to his ridiculously bright laptop screen as he continues doing his extensive amounts of research. He's in the middle of a mission to retrieve yet another pair of his brethren's eyes, however, he ran into an unexpected problem and had to come back to his cheap hotel room to do some last-minute research.
His cellphone has been ringing off the hook, yet he hasn't paid it any mind. He knows his friends will understand that he's incredibly busy and can't come to the phone. He also realizes this won't stop them from calling and messaging him over and over again. They probably only want him to take a break for his birthday and sadly, that's something he can't afford to do right now. Luckily, nobody has any idea of where he is right now so he won't have to worry about them showing up unannounced and getting caught up in his troubles.
"Just ignore them..."The blonde-haired man whispers aloud to himself.
After scrolling for a few more minutes, he lets out a long sigh and stands up, deciding to take a couple of minutes to stretch and get a glass of water. He walks over to the sink and fills a plastic cup with cold water before making his way back to the desk and sitting down. He glances down at his phone, taking note of the dozens of missed calls and plethora of messages. He lets out a chuckle when he notices a good portion of them are from Leorio.
"I'm lucky that my friends care so much for me," He allows a ghost of a smile to play on his lips.
For a brief moment, the Kurta considers calling his friends back, or even offering them a short message in response. He shakes his head as he shakes this thought off and takes a long drink of his water. He comes to the conclusion that he'll call them whenever he finishes this mission and has an interim before he moves along to the next one.
"They will understand. They always do," He mainly says this to reassure himself, letting out a deep breath and turning his attention back to the screen, "I should get back to work."
He reaches for his mouse but freezes in place when he hears someone knocking on his door. He sits in his desk chair, unmoving, as he stares at the door, waiting for the knocking to stop.
'Someone must have the wrong room. They should figure that out and leave eventually,' He thinks aloud to himself as he returns to what he was doing.
"Kurapika, I know you're in there," A familiar voice comes muffled through the door and Kurapika's eyes widen with shock, "I double-checked with the front desk."
He can't seem to hold himself back from shooting up from his chair and bolting over to the door. He removes the deadbolt and swings the door open quickly, his mouth parting slightly in surprise, "(Y/N)... You're here."
"Of course," You offer him a warm smile, "I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world."
His mouth unwillingly twitches into a small grin, "...Is that so?"
He remembers that you're standing in the middle of the hallway of a shady hotel and grabs your wrist, pulling you into the room with him and slamming the door shut behind you. The blonde-haired man looks at you incredulously now, "More importantly, how did you get here? I didn't give anyone my location on purpose. Surely, you realize why, (Y/N)."
You nod, "Yes, I understand, but I don't care," You set the bag you were carrying down on the bed, "I wanted to see you. Well, all of your friends did. But they figured you'd be more willing to let me in than them."
"That does not explain how you discovered my location," He folds his arms across his chest as if he's a scolding mother, "This area is very dangerous, (Y/N)."
"Yeah, I know. I can handle myself just fine," You explain to him as you sit down on the edge of the bed, "I hacked your phone to find your location. It wasn't easy though."
Kurapika's gaze briefly drifts to his cellphone still sitting on the desk, before his eyes fall back on you. He puts his hand on his chin as if in thought, "...I see. I thought my phone was secure enough."
"Anyway, let's not worry about how I got here," You begin rifling through your bag, "Let's worry about why I'm here."
Kurapika furrows his brows in confusion, "You came all this way for my birthday?"
"Of course. I was really worried about you spending the day alone," You remove a small container from your bag and set it down on the end table next to the bed. Opening the container reveals a small birthday cake, decorated with icing balloons and various colors, "I know it's not much but I didn't think you'd want me to go overboard."
Kurapika takes a few steps closer to the cake, looking down at it in awe before he faces you again, "Did you make this yourself?"
"Mhm. Just for you," You swipe some frosting off the side and hold your icing-covered finger up to the Kurta, "It's strawberry flavored and the frosting is buttercream."
He stares down at your icing-covered finger in uncertainty as if he has no idea what you want from him.
"Taste it," You prod him, "I washed my hands, I promise."
His cheeks involuntarily flush a brilliant red, "I'm certain it's good. Thank you, (Y/N)," He notices your pouting and has no choice but to give in, taking your finger in his mouth momentarily and licking your finger clean of the colorful icing.
"Do you like it?" Your own face feels hot from that fleeting interaction, nevertheless, you can't seem to stop grinning.
Kurapika nods, seemingly too flustered to speak, "Yes, it was delicious," He averts his eyes from you as he can't help but want to taste more than just the frosting. He shakes his head at his brazen thought, hoping to wipe such an inappropriate notion from his mind.
The sound of you rummaging around in your bag thankfully distracts Kurapika from his unwanted thoughts. After a few moments, you retrieve a neatly wrapped gift and stand up as you hand it to the blonde-haired man.
"I have more gifts from Leorio, Gon, and Killua, but this one is from me," You announce to him with a beaming grin, "I saw it and thought of you."
He feels touched as he takes the gift from you. As he admires the intricate wrapping job for a few seconds, he wonders if he would feel bad about ripping off the wrapping, "May I?"
"Please do!"
He delicately tears the paper off, allowing it to fall on the floor beneath him. The gift of a book was something Kurapika wasn't too surprised about, however, his breath hitches as he reads the cover of the book. He thumbs through a few pages in complete shock, his eyes wide as he speedreads through a few passages.
"I got really lucky finding that," You point out to him, prompting him to turn his attention back to you, "It wasn't cheap but I wasn't going to let anyone else have it."
"It's... completely written in Kurta," He studies the book's cover, allowing his fingers to slide across the hardcover, "I'm amazed that you found this. I wasn't aware that this even existed."
"I can't read Kurta but I hope it's a good book," You say to him with a kind smile.
Once again, the Kurta can't help but feel stupefied by you. The blonde-haired man can't even think of a way to describe exactly what he's feeling at this very moment. He knows he at least feels a sense of admiration for you, yet he can't ignore the erratic pounding of his heart in his chest.
You break the silence by asking him, "Do you like it? I know it's not much but-"
"I love it. I am extremely touched that you bought this for me. I'm even more astonished that you were determined to find me and give this to me for my birthday. I cannot thank you enough," He says with a beaming smile on his face, "This is a very thoughtful gift."
"You deserve it, Kurapika, and you don't deserve to spend your birthday alone."
Kurapika can't hold himself back from wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into a warm embrace. He nuzzles his face into the crook of your shoulder as he melts into your embrace, clearly having needed a hug for quite some time. One of your hands rests on his back while the other moves to the back of his head to run your fingers through his hair soothingly.
"Thank you for refusing to allow me to spend my birthday alone, (Y/N)," His breath is hot on your neck as he utters his gratitude to you, "You are far too kind to me."
"Not at all. You don't need to be alone all the time, Kurapika. Especially not on your birthday."
"Thank you, (Y/N)," He lets out a relieved breath, "Is it selfish of me to ask if we can stay like this for a while?"
"I'm not going anywhere," You tighten your grip on him, reluctant to let him go.
You and Kurapika remain in a loving embrace for an extended amount of time before he finally pulls away, his cheeks clearly flushed red, though he can't seem to find a reason to care about them right now with you in front of him.
"Would you like a slice of cake?"
Without thinking, he answers with, "I believe I would prefer more frosting."
You're caught off-guard by his shameless response, nonetheless, a devious smirk finds its way onto your face, "That's a good idea," You swipe some more frosting off the side of the cake, however, instead of holding your finger out to him, you rub the frosting off onto your lips.
Kurapika is frozen for a moment, the corner of his lips quirking upwards into a mischievous grin, "A good idea, indeed," He places his hands on either side of your cheeks and leans in to press his lips against yours, sensually. Your lips move in sync with his as he takes your breath away with the amount of love and delicacy held in this kiss.
When he pulls away, you're both gasping for breath with ridiculously large grins plastered to each of your faces. He leans his forehead against yours as his grey eyes bore directly into yours. The glint in his eyes is filled with love, but also something else.
"Thank you for everything, (Y/N). You mean the world to me," He starts, "I am immensely lucky to have such a caring person in my life."
"I feel the same way, Kurapika."
"I believe you still have some frosting on your lips. Allow me to take care of that for you," He leans in again to kiss you, although he's much more forceful and passionate this time, unable to hold himself back from you any longer.
He wonders why and how he kept himself away from you for so long in the first place.
When he pulls back again, your head is spinning, your face overheating as you mutter out a "Happy birthday, Kurapika," Before he continues his merciless assault of kisses, his own eyes shifting to a tint crimson enough to rival that of his own cheeks.
This had turned out to be a birthday that you both wouldn't forget anytime soon.
