“Beg For It.”
Photos Not Mine;
•| ⊱✿⊰ |• Pairings; Switch!(he’s trying)Han Jisung x F!Reader
•| ⊱✿⊰ |• Warnings; Slight smut. I’m talking like light teasing this shit is short. Mentions of cock. Definitely begging from both sides.
•| ⊱✿⊰ |• Word Count; no fuckin idea lol
•| ⊱✿⊰ |• Author’s Note; Just a short little Drabble I thought up in the moment. Nothing too long. Hope y’all enjoy anyway. I’m thinking about making a dbf!bangchan fic if anyone’s interested. (Don’t quote me on that though I’m a slow ass writer 🤓)

“Beg for it” He demands.
You look up at him with a scowl, your pride wouldn’t allow it.
A pout forms on his lips, his brows furrow. He knows you’re not just gonna beg, but he needs to hear it. He knows he’ll go crazy if he doesn’t.
“Please, please beg for it.” He leans in and smells your scent, intoxicated by you, “If you beg for it, I’ll do whatever you want me to. I promise to make you feel so good, please-“ His voice cracks.
He was losing his demeanor. You never wanted to beg a man ever, but the way he looked at you with his pout and doe eyes had you in a trance.
“How are you gonna ask me to beg you, yet you’re the one begging.”
A whimper escapes his lips, that’s it. He knows you’re not gonna beg him, he’s lost his chance. He pulls away but not before you grab onto his shirt, you then drop to your knees and give him what he wants.
“Jisung, I want your cock so bad, please fuck me. I’ll go crazy if you don’t.”
You’re clawing at his shirt while you speak and you swear you can see his knees buckle. You swore you wouldn’t be caught dead begging a man, yet here you are. Melting like puddy underneath his touch, you weren’t the only one though. He was under your spell just as much as you were under his.

i have a lot of issues with how women in media are supposed to quell their emotions to be the bigger person after something astronomically terrible happens to them, or in lucy stone's case, she's treated as kendalls after thought once he gets back together with jo
they have a whole episode where she releases a song, something she worked long and hard on to process her emotions after she was quite nearly strung along by someone she thought she had a shot at a good healthy relationship with, and they beg her not to name him as the song's subject because it painted him in a bad light
had they ever considered why it painted him in a bad light?? like??? they all thought she wrote this shit about him for no reason???? in the like three second clip of the song we hear the lines are "you dumped me for her, you gave me your word, kissed me in an elevator, then you said see you later" HE DID ALL OF THOSE THINGS!!!!! ALL OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENED TO HER!!!!!!!!!!!!
why were they shitting on her so hard for writing the song as if they all weren't affected by the kucy drama... lord...
and then she had to be the bigger person after she ended up being the most hurt about the entire situation? why did they do that to her😭
#big time rush#lucy stone#lucy baby im so sorry. you had every right to name kendall as the imspo...

Great Pods: A Valuable Resource For Podcast Recommendations
This article is about one of the best podcast recommendation sites available to podcast fans. Now, Ear Worthy is a podcast review and recommendation publication? Why would I write an article about a competitor?
This article recommends Great Pods — a podcast recommendation site. You can read it on Substack and become a subscriber or bookmark its website.
Great Pods explains its business case as follows: “Finding podcast recommendations can be difficult. Great Pods is making it easier with one Critic review at a time.”
Great Pods features weekly podcast recommendations from:
Critic Reviews and Ratings
Occasional Top Lists from various publications
Our journey as a podcast resource startup
Podcasts w/ reviews that were just added to the site
Coming Soon trailers
Captain Ron, the owner/manager of Great Pods, notes: “We are a team with over ten years of experience in the audio/podcast industry. Our ecosystem includes this newsletter and greatpods.co (if you don’t want to wait for the newsletter recs!)! We encourage you to take a look. Send us feedback and suggestions.”
He explains: “It’s a call back to the 1992 eponymous movie — Captain Ron — with Kurt Russell. Funny enough, I finally watched the cult classic in 2023 for my birthday. It’s been my karaoke name for a while.”
We asked Captain Ron about his earliest involvement in podcasts.
“It all started with KROQ radio in L.A., which created the Kevin & Bean morning shows into podcasts. I was excited that I could be anywhere and not have to be in LA to get the show. Around 2010, I went hands-on with my Bollywood and Bhangra college radio show at KUCI (UC Irvine) and started podcasting my live show for later consumption on MixCloud.”
Captain Ron continues: “Thus, the journey began. Regardless of how many books, podcasts, articles, or people you get educated with along the way, when you finally jump on the startup entrepreneurial journey, it is scary, exciting, and unknown territory for your heart and mind.”
When I asked Captain Ron about his background, he responded: “I was born and raised in LA County, went to USC (University of Southern of California) for undergrad. I was always interested and passionate about the intersection of entertainment, media, and tech.”
“During my college radio stint at KUCI, I landed a job at TuneIn Radio in the Bay Area in the early 2010s. I got a chance to be an early employee, saw the infectious nature of a startup, and learned all things media tech. I spent eight years there before working at Himalaya Podcasts for a short time. Because the pandemic started, I eventually moved back home to LA and started Great Pods, which I continue to work on.”
He explains: “I had this itch to scratch. I wanted to do new, innovative things in my later years at TuneIn. It seemed like some part of the startup was lost, and so I went to Himalaya podcasts. During my break between TuneIn and Himalaya, it was my engineering friend who started asking questions about problems I was having that got ME to ask more questions about the problems.”
“Those questions finally led to: Why was it hard to decide and discover what podcasts to listen to? Not only me, but others were feeling the pain point of ‘What should I listen to?’ Then there was the question of what other industries I like currently do. Well, I like TV and movie reviews. I like Rotten Tomatoes as a media reviews aggregator. Did the Siskel & Ebert’s of the movie industry exist in the podcast space? That’s when I went looking for answers and ultimately looked to solve my own problem and make it a solution for all.”
Podcast discoverability is difficult by avid listeners for two basic reasons. First, there are thousands of podcasts to discover that remain unknown. Second, the sheer number of podcasts precludes any shared repository, although the Apple ecosystem may come closest to a unified and organized roadmap. That’s why services such as Great Pods, Bingeworthy, Into The Podverse, and EarBuds Podcast Collective offer free GPS settings to the best podcasts in each genre and some categories you may have never heard of. Did you know there is a podcast by a comedian who interviews people about the worst gifts they’ve ever received? What genre is that? Comedy? Regifting?
When I asked Captain Ron, his personal favorite genre categories of podcasts, he answered: “True Crime Scams, Fiction (Sci-Fi to Drama), Comedy from Comedians (They are more seasoned for microphone entertainment), Business-Tech (since I’m building this website), and emotional podcasts. The emo podcasts surprise me with how well they are made. It’s happy-sad emotional deep dives like Dying For Sex, Where are you going? Bitter/Sweet that just feels raw and real. However, I jump around a lot since I am listening to a wide variety of podcasts each week for curation.”
Then I asked Captain Ron my most cliché question, and he hit it out of the park. “If you were going to be trapped on a desert island for one year, what three podcasts would you take with you to listen?”
Captain Ron: “This may change next year, but at the moment of writing this:”
Network: Tosh Show (Comedy) https://greatpods.co/podcast/tosh-show
Wiser Than Me w/ Julia Louis Dreyfus (Insightful elders) https://greatpods.co/podcast/wiser-than-me-with-julia-louis-dreyfus
And give me any journalist, Alex Monstrous investigation true-crime podcasts from Tortoise Media like Sweet Bobby https://greatpods.co/podcast/sweet-bobby
Honorable mention: TBOY (The Best One Yet) Daily business news podcasts that are full of energy. https://greatpods.co/podcast/the-best-one-yet
Indie: Bitter/Sweet (Food-Society) https://greatpods.co/podcast/bitter-sweet

Understandable. So, here are the characters that I might need help writing for. I mean, I might need help creating their scenarios.
Luca/Kucy
Asta
I change the William one to Bokuto
Armin
And Ibusaki Shun
I know that the picnic one is a little self-explanatory, but I don’t have a scenario for it. All I know is that they just go on a picnic at one point.
Alright, let me work my brain...
Luca/Lucy, for Halloween they decided to have a movie marathon, but just watching movies on the couch was a little boring, so they made a fort with blankets and pillows, both of the scared to death and clinging to reader.
Asta, it could be small scenarios describing different types of hugs, kind of like their meaning while they're relationship advances and they turn from strangers, to friends, to lovers.
Bokuto, it was their graduation at Fukudorani, and of course, Bokuto was crying about not being able to see Akaashi every day, and since sakura blooms during that time of the year in Japan, maybe the wind blew and some sakura flew around along with some leaves that ended up attacking poor Bokuto, some ended up on his hair and reader picked them up/Or they were out on a date and Bokuto saw a pile of dried leaves and decided to jump on it, laughing like a little kid.

I don’t even know if you still care about this but you’re kind of my go to for kucy/btr related things. And honestly, even besides her in Kendall she deserves to be utilized more as a character. We never got a full version of You Dumped Me for Her, or any other songs from her. Can you imagine if she had more songs? If she and the boys collaborated on a song together that was more rock inspired? What if her and Kendall wrote a song together? She could’ve helped him and the boys be more involved in the song writing process therefore helping them expand as artists. What she opened for BTR? She was an amazing character and she should’ve gotten better than what she did.
Hey Anon, thank you for your message!
I stopped following BTR a while ago (I even refused to watch the last episode to see Lucy and James together lol), but I couldn’t agree more. I feel like she was such an interesting character and she deserved so much more than she got, both with Kendall and without him. Let’s just ignore canon, my friend, shall we?

Change is a strong word for me,i just need self appreciation and work this thing called life life and just accept the positivity and love of friendship and im writing this now to myself knowing only one person might read but i dont wana forget all this thoughts i have now.
This is. maybe a day 1 for me and a new chance for. me, i don’t have a way to communicate with my parent for way too long time now, accepting it as soon as possible is better, that is my first goal,im important,i have ambitions im so ready for new experience every day and i just wana enjoy the beauty of everything around us only if can keep the positive mindset,i miss so many things from the past, every day i think about what could’ve been different and how i could have an amazing unique and increnible girl next to me right now,but thats life,i cant say its hard and unfair but its tough to handle but you gotta learn some things harsh way,i made some bad decisions, who am i foolin i made so many teeeerible decisions, but yea,i dont want to make stupid decisions anymore,i want to work myself so hard and make an amazing person of myself and i know that kids from the neighbourhood look up to me so much and i really dont ever want to disappoint myself anymore and just be strong powerfu person and everything will come slowly, there is no rush for everything, what could have been and what has been is behind me,faith is an amazing thing but i dont wana be stuck in it and hesitate..
Life is really wonderful thing, its insanely late (6:27) i came home 30 minutes ago, couldnt let a a best friend drive because he is drunk so hes currently sleeping on a sofa at my house but we had an amazing talk and amazing experience and i just freaking love that dude,he is by far the best friend i ever had and i really grow as a person next to him and i never want to freaking loose that guy from my life because hes so amazing and i know he will succeed in so much things and i want to support him in every doubt he has.
When my ex told me that this guy will be my best friend i laughed and just acted cocky because yea i was in phase when i only listened to myself, and im sick of it,im turning 21 in 3 days,i have so much possibilities,so much ambitions,so much hidden talents..

As 2018 is coming to an end it’s time to reflect on this amazing year for new music and artistry. KUCI is a diverse group of DJs and we are proud to represent all genres of music. I have finally put together our Top 10 albums of 2018 along with some honorable mentions towards the end accompanied by some lovely words written by our fellow DJs. We can’t wait for what 2019 brings for us and continue tuning in on kuci.org or 88.9 FM if you’re in the Orange County area. Have a safe and happy new year!
1. Mitski - Be The Cowboy
“Mitski Miyawaki’s powerhouse voice resonates with a haunting clarity on her stunning masterpiece Be the Cowboy. She creates entire worlds and characters out of pieces of herself, from paranoid, awkward women who yearn for traditionalism and some idealist version of what life or love should be (hello “Lonesome Love”), to cowgirls who can do it all on their own. From sorrowful to triumphant, Mitski colors the spaces in between from soul-bearing ballad “Geyser” to unforgettable dancing-alone-in-your-bedroom anthem “Nobody.” (Sophie Prettyman-Beauchamp)
“This album was so personal and raw and I also liked how the songs flowed well on this album.” (Heidi Barragan)
2. The Internet - Hive Mind
“I can't talk about this album without mentioning how mad I am at myself for missing the tour. Syd, Pat, Steve, Matt, and Chris, The Internet, are prominent figures of musical evolution; this speaks volumes and not just because they got their start with Odd Future, a hub of avid freeform artists. If you’re inclined to believe what I believe, Ego Death is a heartbreak album and Hive Mind is loaded with recovery anthems and passionate songs to share with your new partner who is not a rebound. Across the timeline, the sounds change from R&B and Hip-Hop to Funk and Soul; but what captures my attention the most, from Ego Death to Hive Mind, is the way a facade is casted aside. Hive Mind is just so sincere and therefore, perfectly fitting for being a part of my top three.” (Thorson Munoz)
“[This album] is a very funky album with heavy tones of R&B. The Internet does not disappoint with their funky sounds, which can be heard on “La Di Da”. Overall the album has powerful baselines, thanks to the amazing Steve Lacy, and groovy beats backed by Syd’s smooth vocals. It is hard to listen to this album and not dance along to it.” (Melissa Palma)
3. Kali Uchis - Isolation
“Colombian singer Kali Uchis’ long-awaited debut album is a high-production value journey into her uniquely sultry, dreamy world of R&B. The songstress’s silky voice pushes boundaries of various genres, from bossa-inspired intro “Body Language” to the Amy Winehouse-esque “Killer,” each track better and more of a banger than the last. Isolation features artists like The Internet guitarist Steve Lacy, British soul success Jorja Smith, and reggaeton icon Reykon. Uchis also recruited her friends Tyler, the Creator and legendary bassist Bootsy Collins for the hit single “After the Storm,” a follow-up to her and Tyler’s song “See You Again” from his 2017 album Flower Boy (supported by a stunningly whimsical music video by director Nadia Lee Cohen). The producer credits are just as stacked, including the likes of Thundercat, BROCKHAMPTON’s Romil Hemnani, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn. Uchis proves herself as the new sound of pop, never veering from her originality that made her a Soundcloud sweetheart.” (Sophie Prettyman-Beauchamp)
4. Janelle Monae - Dirty Computer
“She’s such an intelligent creative weirdo and I LOVE HER. Not to mention her oozing femme POWER.” (Naseem Eskandari)
“About the moxie I mentioned earlier, this emotional rollercoaster has an abudnace of it and I cannot get enough! Cover to cover this album packs a punch, and as the visual companion--which brought me to tears--would suggest, this entire album is a celebration of deviant bodies and identities. This album contains the perfect ratio of soft and tender tracks and upbeat exciting ones so its no wonder why NPR named Dirty Computer their number one of 2018.” (Thorson Munoz)
5. Anderson .paak - Oxnard
“Sometimes artists, after huge successes, feel that they need to make music that sounds just like their previous work to gain the same traction, but really the true artists are the ones that stay honest and true to their creative ability - their sound moves through life with them.” (Naseem Eskandari)
“Anderson .Paak, to me, is responsible for every playlist I've ever built that revolves around driving in Los Angeles with the windows down, no matter the time of day. However, I don't drive a convertible, so instead I honored Venice and Malibu using my radio program, Detours. Not only am I excited to honor Oxnard as well, but Oxnard was built for driving; this is evident after listening to "Tints", the first release, and "Headlow". This album, just like Malibu, is masterful; the only difference is that Dr. Dre stepped out of the shadows and was a feature. Oxnard is beyond incredible and worthy of it's legendary features, Snoop Dog, Q-Tip, and Kadhja Bonet, to name a few. I'm really excited for what will likely be Anderson .Paak's next Grammy nomination.” (Thorson Munoz)
6. Blood Orange - Negro Swan
“AMAZING production, amazing narrative!!!!!!!” (Angel Cortez)
“Dev Hynes never fails to make master pieces of albums that narrate the experience of marginalized people in an oppressive and toxic environment. Hynes brings together artists as big as ASAP Rocky to smaller artists of equal talent such as Steve Lacey creating a beautiful medley of indie hip hop to soul and funk. Coupled with interviews, Hynes is able to make this album a personal experience for the listener. For me it always feels as though he is singing to me personally, something that not many artists are able to do.” (Kelsey Villacorte)
7. Kevin Krauter - Toss Up
“Toss Up has to be my personal #1 favorite album of 2018 by Kevin Krauter who began making music apart from lo-fi dream pop band Hoops in 2015. Toss Up was released this past summer and was the perfect album to listen to during warm summer nights and has carried through to the end of the year as a comforting reminder of those warm times during these cold nights. It has that dreamy, nostalgic feeling, something that you would listen to as you’re reflecting on the tender moments of your life. Krauter mixes vaporwave-esque sounds with sweet ballads with no one song sounding like the other.” (Kelsey Villacorte)
8. MGMT - Little Dark Age
“MGMT's come-back album is focused, synthy, and fresh. Without abandoning the dark undertones present in their older albums, this album reflects the band's personal growth and resonates with fans, old and new. Tracks like TSLAMP and Little dark Age are some of my favorites!” (Angelica Sheen)
“MGMT has maintained their status as an alternative staple and has since transformed their sound into something more experimental since their debut album Oracular Spectacular. MGMT did not disappoint and gave us an album that went from the weird wii-fit/dystopian vibes of She Works Out To Much to 80s dance of Me and Michael to another sweet ballad titled Hand It Over which is super reminiscent of the ending/title song of their second album Congratulations. MGMT never fails to write well thought out lyrics that all almost feel like their own story. All in all, they did not disappoint and this is exactly the kind of MGMT album I was hoping for after a 5 year hiatus.” (Kelsey Villacorte)
9. Ian Sweet - Crush Crusher
“Jilian Medford refines IAN SWEET’s sound and practices self-care on sophomore album Crush Crusher, her most intimate release yet. Medford rediscovers her identity as she considers how much of herself she has forgotten while preoccupying herself with being a guardian to others (she warbles “The sun built me to shade everybody” on “Holographic Jesus”). Ever poetic while satisfyingly straightforward, she notes that “It’s been too long since I let myself cry about something that wasn’t even sad” on the pummeling single “Spit.” She coos, squeaks, and screams in perfect, dissonant harmony over her guitar’s cathartically melancholic reverb. IAN SWEET remains a perfect contradiction that only grows sweeter.” (Sophie Prettyman-Beauchamp)
10. Parquet Courts - Wide Awake!
“This band's genius shows through with every new release. Wide Awake throws all of their influences together and expels energetic funk beats with poignant, dark, and brutal lyrics that are especially political. The juxtaposition of these themes with upbeat and optimistic instrumentals speaks to their compositional talent, making it a fan favorite. AND THEY USE COWBELLS.” (Angelica Sheen)
Honorable Mentions:
Glenn Crytzer Orchestra, "Ain't it Grand?"
This album couldn't have been better aimed at me if the band had come and asked me what I wanted to hear. A modern swing-style orchestra performing both classic tunes from the 1930s and modern pieces written in the big band style. The ensemble playing is tight, the solos just exactly right, and the production quality a lot sharper than any of the original Duke Ellington recordings. Top notch stuff. (Michael Payne)
The Vaccines - Combat Sports
"The Vaccines brought back the spirit and energy of their debut album but with a new twist when they released their 4th album early in 2018. Get pumped up with the "I Can't Quit" and "Nightclub" or settle down with "Maybe (The Luck of the Draw)" or "Young American". The Vaccines perfectly embody the sound and snark of the '70s and '80s artists of which their influenced while still creating a modern feel of the 2010's. My personal favorite off the album "Out on the Street" definitely a treat live! Over all Combat Sports is an excellent album and what we needed in 2018." (Stacey Brizuela)
Cobra Man - Toxic Planet
“Los Angeles local duo Cobra Man blows it out of the water with their sophomore album that carries the heart and groove of something you'd hear out of '84. It is indeed one of the best albums of the year because it utilizes one of the most underrated instruments in the game, the saxophone.” (Spartacus Avina)
Nu Guinea "Nu Guinea"
Heaven & Earth by Kamasi Washington is an album that’s loud and bold in both sound and vocals. A lot of the album often creates an ethereal effect with the heavy instrumentals ascending into a grand peak, most notably heard on “Street Fighter Mas”. The vocals on the album accompany the instrumentals in their same form, loud and climaxing. Listening to this album is like a rollercoaster with its thrilling jazz sounds. (Melissa Palma)
Drug Church - Cheer
Mac Miller - Swimming
“The tragic beauty of this album speaks for itself. Mac was such a raw and very real individual and it reflects in his music the way that many others cannot replicate. May he rest in peace - I hope the next life will be better for him.” (Naseem Eskandari)
Thank you to all the amazing DJs who submitted their Top 10 list of 2018! I am super glad to have been part of an amazing and diverse radio station for this past year and this is only a small piece of what our DJs music tastes are like here. I hope everyone has an incredible and safe New Years Eve and a happy 2019 :)

----------------------------------•| ⊱✿⊰ |•----------------------------------
Bangchan is kneeled in front of you, ready and obedient for whatever you decide to do with him next. You reach out and your thumb dances across his bottom lip. The static buzzing with every touch you give him. He’s obsessed with you, he craves you. Always. You leave him wanting more every time. You go to pull your hand back but he’s quick. His fingers wrap around your wrist holding you in place, your thumb still resting on his plush pillowy lips. He kisses the tip slowly, sensually, dragging your thumb down. His bottom lip drags with it then flicks back into place. He blinks up at you, his doe eyes stare at yours with need. He holds your eyes in his as he wraps his lips around your thumb. The suction is light but it gets needier with every second that goes by. He wishes it was your clit instead but beggars can’t be choosers. He’ll take anything you give him, as long as he’s able to have anything of you he’s satisfied.
You’re mesmerized. The pure ecstasy on his face over something so minimal is slowly driving you insane. You knew he was pussy whipped but you didn’t realize it was this bad. Truth be told it turned you on so much more. How far was he willing to go to be with you? Would he do anything you asked? A simple yes, he would. He’d walk to the ends of the earth, jump off a cliff, grovel on his knees if you asked him to.
Whilst his tongue danced around your thumb you brought your free hand up and combed your fingers through the bangs laid on his forehead. The sensation caused him to purr, a low groan rumbling in his throat. His eyes held yours with desperation, he wanted more but he didn’t want to be selfish. It’s your pleasure before his, always. Although he couldn’t help the slight thrusts into the crowded air, he needed relief, bad. And you were right there to give it to him.
You could see the strain on his face, it was devilish to witness. You almost wanted to leave him here, carnal for more. But with the way he was acting you didn’t know if you could. Because truth be told you were just as turned on as he is. There’s nothing more satisfying than having a man like him at your beck and call. You’re gonna have fun with this one, it was an opportunity you refused to pass up.
You pulled back your thumb that was still in between his beautiful lips, his hold on your wrist getting tighter. He didn’t want to let go yet, it’s too soon. But with the sharp look you gave him he accepted defeat, he didn’t want to disappoint you. Especially when he was so close to having you, it’d ruin him.
You smiled softly at his disheveled state. His messy hair, blown eyes and wet lips pulled apart and panting.
“Such a good puppy for me, yeah?” You whisper.
His eyes lit up at the pet name, he’d like whatever you decided to call him but there was something about the word puppy that drove him wild. The slew of bangs on his forehead bounced up and down when he nodded in response. Any praise from you was better than anything on this planet, he was determined to receive more. To be a good boy for you.
You leaned down to his kneeled form, your face hovering above his, lips inches away. Just a little more and your lips would meet. The urge he must resist to lean forward and push his lips into yours was the hardest thing he’s had to do in a while.
You smirk at his desperation, god he was so delicious, “Since you’re such a good puppy how ‘bout you sit on the edge of the bed for me, hm?”
He didn’t have to be told twice, tripping over his feet as he stood up, he stumbled to the edge of the bed and sat obediently. His fingers splayed across the sheets, rubbing against the fabric, his nerves are on fire.
You stand straight up once again, a smirk dances across your lips at his eagerness. Slowly making your way to him, you let your hips sway with every step. Your hard stare has him trapped, like Medusa has laid her cold eyes on him and turned him into stone, he was still. When you reach him you extend your hand out, he grabs it softly and kisses the back of it. You smile at his quick obedience.
Suddenly you drop to your knees in front of him and push his thighs apart. You make your way in between his spread out form, your nails digging into his jeans as you squeeze his thick thighs. He stops breathing, stunned at your sudden decision. You’re in between his legs and he has no idea how to breathe.
“Ah-“ A whimper escapes his lips when you lean down and press a kiss to his bulge.
He’s so hard it hurts, his fingers dig into the sheets more, he wants it bad. You gleam at his sounds, you need to draw more out and you need it now.
You nuzzle your face into his bulge, the rough fabric of his jeans scratching at your face but that’s the least of your concern. When you look up at him his head is thrown back. Hot harsh breaths coming out from his mouth, he doesn’t know how much longer he can last. Even with you just looking at him he can blow his load, you were addicting.
Your slight giggle grabs his attention and he whips his head back down to look at you, although he wishes he hadn’t. Your chin is resting on his painfully hard bulge and your eyes full of sin, teasing him. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.
You squeeze at his thighs again, “Since you’ve been such a good puppy I think I should reward you.” You lift your head up and make quick work at his belt, “I’m gonna shove your cock so far down my throat, the only thing you’re gonna think of is me.”
You slide the belt out of the hoops and start unbuttoning his jeans, “The only name you’re gonna chant is mine.” His hips lift as you pull down his pants along with his underwear, his cock springs free, “I’m going to consume your entire being and you’re gonna love every second of it.”
His bottom lip quivers when you wrap your hand around the base of his cock, “You already consume me, every day.” His voice shakes.
You give his tip a soft kiss and he almost busts right then and there, “Is that so?” You ask.
His bottom lip is pulled between his teeth, almost drawing blood. His breath is uneven, “Y-yes. No one else can make me feel like you do.”
You wrap your lips around his tip and suck harshly, he cries out. The electrifying sensation only lasts a couple of seconds before you pull back, enjoying every second of his disheveled state.
“Mm you got that right.” You moan out, “Now puppy, let me show you exactly why no one else can do what I can do.”

fake title: Say You Like Me
oooh god this is such a good one i've got no less than one million ideas but i think the one i'm landing on is a kucy fic..........
scene: kendall has just chosen jo in big time decision. lucy is understandably heartbroken. planning to move out of the palm woods.
kendall, being the stand up guy he thinks he is, believes he owes lucy an explanation for his decision and heads to her apartment, only to find that lucy is packing - ready to kiss the palm woods goodbye forever...
and he fights her on her decision to leave!! like way too much for a guy who should be with his new-old girlfriend!!
here's some dialogue i'm hearing in my head:
"well, i didn't think you'd actually move out. it wasn't just some reverse-psychology thing to get me to pick you?"
"pick me? if you liked me like you said you did, there never would have been a choice between me and jo in the first place!"
"lucy, you know i care about you... come on, don't leave. i'll do anything..."
"then say it."
"what?"
"say that you like me. that you want me to stay. that you want to be with me. "
OOP if i cleaned up the dialogue i might actually flesh this one out. i have another kucy wip that may never see the light of day but maybe this is the boost i need lol
send me the title of a fic and i'll tell you what i'd write for it!

Kids See Ghost at Camp Flog Gnaw 2018 Review/Experience
What’s up Y'all, so this is my first concert/festival review that I’ll be doing of many (I hope). This is going to be really informal for a minute until I get feedback about my writing style or simply become a better writer. I hope you enjoy.
First, let me talk about the atmosphere of the venue and concert. In 2017, Camp Flog Gnaw (CFG) was at Exposition Park in Los Angeles and the venue felt tight. A lot of the attractions and booths were bunched up together and to move from stage to stage you had to walk through what it seemed like an alleyway that didn’t have any scenery than metal gates. This year CFG got an upgrade in location (in my opinion), which was at the Dodgers Stadium parking lot. The back side of the parking lot offered a wide space which didn’t make me feel claustrophobic but also showed a sense of resourcefulness. There were porta potties by each stage, the food stands and the rides were placed in between the two stages so people were able to grab a drink, snack, or hop on a ride between the 45 minute wait time moving between sets. Also, as you moved from the Camp stage (main stage) to the Flog stage (second stage), you were greeted with a beautiful view of the LA skyline.
Quick disclaimer, if you didn’t read the title of this post I will only be talking about the Kids See Ghost (KSG) set because I didn’t go the first day of the festival and honestly just went this year to catch a glimpse of some Kanye West + Kid Cudi action. I was blessed and fortunate enough to go to CFG in 2017, as stated and was able to see most of the artists that were there the first day. Also, my sister hooked it up with some free tickets she won off the radio. Wild because I have never met anyone that has won those call-in to win radio segments. Shout out Jackie.
The whole day I was pretty antsy of getting the best possible spots to see KSG vividly, and hopefully see, with ease, Cudi smile. My group and I showed up around 4:30pm. After checking the merch lines and realizing we’d be waiting for a minute (approximately 2 hours), we said f*ck that and made the push to the Camp stage where KSG would be closing out the festival starting at 10pm. We got to the stage barely missing Taco but were able to catch Jorja Smith, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and Post Malone. All great sets. Between each set, we would move up while a sea of festival goers would leave to go to the Flog stage. During the wait between Post and KSG, the fire marshal made an announcement to the crowd asking the front portion of the crowd, where I ended up getting to, to take 3 steps back. This was impossible as the crowd was a standstill and packed up against the back security bar. I was stepping on people’s shoes (hopefully not J’s), people were stepping on my shoes (not J’s don’t worry), I couldn’t move my arms, a girl’s head was smashed into my back, and she said it was cool because I didn’t smell bad lmao (I took it as a compliment). The crowd of festival goers started chanting “f*ck you” at the marshal, but that didn’t change anything because he kept asking us to move back...
Now to Kids See Ghost! The stage was dark, smoke started to rise, and all of a sudden a glass box hanging from the top of the stage, which looked similar to Lorde’s tour set design (joke), appeared out of the dusk.
The instrumental to Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 began to play and Kid Cudi yelled at the top of his lungs, “Sing that shit, you know it!”, which fueled a mosh pit of Travis Scott caliber. Surprisingly the space around me opened up and I had some space to breathe.
Here is the complete set list in order that KSG performed, I’ll try to talk about a couple in detail:
Father Stretch My Hands Pt.1
Feel the Love
Fire
4th Dimension
Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt.2)
Reborn
Kids See Ghost
Cudi Montage
Welcome to Heartbreak
Paranoid
Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare)
Ghost Town
During Kanye’s spazzz out of Mike Patton sounds and gun snares on Feel the Love the crowd chanted along in the “Ba-ba-ba-ba Brrat-tat-da-da-da-da Ga-ga-ga-ga Brrr-ah-da-da, brrr-ah-da-da,” and it was the weirdest but most pleasing concert experience I’ve ever had. On one hand, everyone, including myself, were yelling nonsense at the top of our lungs, but on the other hand, everyone was enjoying themselves and we all had smiles on our faces (that sh*t was lit).
Kanye West asked the crowd to make a circle a damn 3 times during Freeee, and I don’t think anyone did. It was comedy, but this song was beautiful. Mr. West shouted that he loved Tyler, the Creator during the tune, and the rainbow visuals the two had in the background (pictured above) was more pleasing than most rave lights/visuals I’ve seen. Kanye, forgot some lyrics for Reborn, you know what, he kept “moving forward” and didn’t let that stop him. It’s just a classic Kanye move. What’s a Mr. West appearance without some forgotten lyrics. He also hit them exorcist type dance moves that got him trending during Kids See Ghost.
I’m not gonna say Kid Cudi carried Kanye’s dead weight during the performance but he hit line for line. The man was flawless. His Pursuit of Happiness performance was heart-warming, and it was great seeing Mr. Cudi smiling up in the glass box. Even his high pitch vocals on Ghost Town were on point.
I made it out with minimal bruises, and it made it all more worthwhile being there with great company whom sang note for note with me.
TL;DR
I couldn’t sum up the performance better than Reddit user, n30fir3, who commented, “I loved it although [Kanye] looked out of shape, forgot some lyrics and it looked like they turned [Kanye’s] mic on late a couple times, seeing him smile with Cudi and do all of his crazy dance moves made me smile so much I love these two both so much.”
If you made it this far thank you for reading. I know this was amateur af so if you have any advice or comments please send me an email at [email protected]. I promise I’ll get better, and I will try my best to make it shorter next post. Tune into KUCI 88.9FM on Wednesdays 2am-4am... you can stream on kuci.org/listen

DEDICATED AND SOFT RESTING
Over the past three years it’s been a tradition here for a year end rundown of HH activities to be posted up just about now. This will happen in a few lines, but it’s always good to question the routine kinda things that we all do.
Time gets enough of our attention as it is every day, every hour, every moment whether you’re at the beginning of the year, or the end of it, in the middle, whatever. To constantly acknowledge its power (or even its weakness) would make us feel obsessive. How many times do you hear folks worrying about getting old? Or dying? Or showing up late to something? Or waking up? Or “getting enough hours” of this, that, or the other thing? The looming presence of time will never disappear. That’s actually a good thing for an infinite number of reasons. But, unless perhaps there’s some kind of magical time-spirit being who is really interesting and fun to hangout with, why pay extra special attention to something that has about as much personality as your average everyday grain of sand?
On the other hand time possesses the amazing, beautiful super power of invisibility, and it seems to be incapable of feeling any pain. You can’t say that about whole lot of other things, invisible or otherwise. So yeah, it seems like the jury’s still out. So what the heck, we might as well have ourselves a good old fashioned time blastin’ fun-o-rama-lama
~
For roughly 3 months out of 2018 Human Host was on the road. This was the largest amount of gigs we ever played at any time within the last decade (’08-’18). Being a traveling artist can be a strange and sometimes awkward endeavor, but as far as HH’s 2018 tours are concerned it was pretty smooth sailing all year long. There’s a big reason for this: people - good people who work in many capacities to support independent/original artists because they genuinely *love* doing that. A ton of venues, promoters, talent buyers, and show bookers of all shapes and sizes helped make ‘18 one of HH’s most productive years ever and we thank *all* of these folks & venues massively.
But tours aren’t always succesful strictly because of people in the “business”, or even due to the support of folks working in the art-centric underground, or any of the other more typical proffesionals who you can imagine are responsible for getting great gigs together. There are tons of other people who often wear a thousand hats, or simply work behind the scenes to make great art come to life in contexts that are far more complicated/multi-faceted than that of the average concert promoter. Below are the names of a whole giant ton of great people whose help, moral support, and kindness made Human Host’s 2018 adventures unforgettable and extra special in every way possible:
Nathan Dowell, Alex Dowell, the entire Dowell family of Birmingham, Al., and David Richardson of Hamilton, Md.
Doug Hammond of Los Angeles (TGAUC forever!)
Lorraine DeGraffenreidt/UCB and Richard McClaughlin from the KMAN 92.5 Tapes label of Glendale, Ca.
Cory Davolos/T.E.A.M. & Joy Eichert of Columbus, Oh. (next time HH gets the ice cream tab, seriously!)
Devon Till/T.E.A.M. of Jacksonville, Fla.
Jacob Markus and the whole crew from The Southside House & the band From Worlds Alike of Smyrna, Tn.
Sarah Brandes & Matt Reilly and family of Los Angeles
Mac Burns of Los Angeles
Kaitlyn/Illegal Shirts & Perseus The Cat, and the RAT PPL collective of L.A.
Jarod Walker/In Case Of Emergency Press of Bloomington, In.
Nick Riddle and family of Raleigh, N.C.
Chris Bishop/garagehangover.com from upstate NY
Destination Coffee Bar and Bistro of Hemet, Ca.
Ruthy who was with us on the Greyhound bus going from Jackson, Ms. to Monroe, Louisiana.
Son from La Plata, Ia. who was with us on the Amtrak train up until Chicago
Regina from Chicago who traveled with us on the Amtrak train to D.C.
The El Pollo Loco location near the UCB Theatre on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood
Landon Deaton of Milwaukee, Wi.
Alex of Nightmare In Wonderland from Monroe, NY
David & Radcliffe of Hill Boys, and Joe Vick of New Brunswick, NJ
The Dump community center/spiritual hub of Brooklyn, NY
Amy Beth & Argyle Zandolis of Elmsford, NY
Darren Mabbee and Russell Dolan of Jersey City, NJ
Jared Fischer & Michelle Silvester of Brooklyn, NY
Billy & Maria from The Poconos
Alberta & Jim from The Poconos
Wayne Llewellyn of Roanoke, Va.
Jason Donells of Austin, Tx.
Jack Elliot-Higgins from St. Louis, Mo.
Cody & Kimmie from The Philistines of Kansas City, Mo
Chris MacGarvey of Athens, Ga.
Eric Rosario of Bubble Wand from Baltimore
Dee Crittenden of Joy Lane/Alien Witch from Orlando, Fla.
Jill Lloyd Flanagan of Forced Into Femininity from Chicago
...yow! That’s alotta awesome people, and (cant stress this enuff here) most of those mentioned weren’t directly involved with booking any shows. To anyone that might feel forgotten here, HH sincerely apologizes. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it takes friggin telepathic megopolis to keep the healing meta embers of weirdness a’smoulderin for cosmic glory.
~
In addition to all the touring, 2018 saw HH release a new full length record, create recordings with a slew of side projects (including the newest album from T.E.A.M., a group who has only become active after a nearly 25 year hiatus), and some Human Host members even sat in for a few open jam sessions in New Jersey and Ronaoke, Va. Some new Human Host writing projects were completed, and there was even a combination HH music/spoken word performance which was recorded live in the L.A. suburbs out at the University Of California’s Irvine campus (which the school’s radio station KUCI-FM has archived; more info on this is coming soon).
The Host also became the subject for an excellent piece entitled ‘Strange Symbiosis’ which was run by suburban L.A.’s Ventura County Reporter. In this piece writer Karen Lindell brings the Human Host experience to life in a new way which highlights the core political and philosophical concepts of our purpose. You can read the article here:

~
O.k., Time Cult, time’s up
HH needs a rest (a real big one). As we enjoy the sleep of brief ages, 2019 awaits with even more goodies in store. We’re puttin ‘18 out to pasture in style, so please stay tuned.
YOURS IN PEACE, MYSTERY, AND LOVE,
Gurgle Bliirrg, Talb Chrang, Z’mabattadanergustre, and the whole gang out there pseudo-spelunking through the inverted cave of trampoline lava-clava a.k.a. ))) Human Host (((

Hamilton Leithauser Interview
Hamilton Leithauser recently played in the Constellation Room in Santa Ana to promote his record with Rostam Batmanglij, “I Had a Dream That You Were Mine.” Throughout his tenure as the beloveds frontman of The Walkmen, Leithauser exuded a sort of timelessness that escapes most modern singers today, and his new collaboration with Rostam takes the pair’s love of the classic American songbook and pairs it with one of the more unique voices in music. Our conversation with Hamilton centered upon the writing process for his new record, his most recent tour, and his plans for the future.
SM: Since you drive across the country so much [on tour], is there any sort of music that you gravitate towards in specific parts of the country? I know when I drive long distances it's kind of interesting to use music to tap into whatever environment you're in.
HL: It's kind of fun to listen to the local artists of whatever town you're in. Like when we were in Oakland a couple of days ago I was listening to Sly and the Family Stone. It's something to keep you interested.
SM: As the Walkmen progressed in their career and as you've gone through your solo work I felt you've always tried to capture this classic American songbook sound. Was there any sort of formative influence that drew you to that when you were in the Walkmen? It seems that you and Rostam took the reins [of that sound] and really ran with it.
HL: Yeah it was something we never really talked about. It's funny as we went along I guess we just kept trying new things and we went with what worked and in the end we sort of have a similar aesthetic and a similar background in terms of what we've come to like growing up and always being very interesting in hearing new music in different styles. He and I have a similar... I dunno... "grown up" aesthetic so I think that makes it so you can sort of trust the other guy to come up with something that might be a little bit out of left field, but we're both willing to have a little patience to try something that's unexpected but then fits in with what you're trying to do too.
SM: I know you and Rostam worked together on Black Hours (Leithauser's first solo record) on the tracks "Alexandra" and "I Retired." Did you guys make the collective decision to make a full album together following that?
HL: No. Actually we didn't talk about that until we were already done about six songs on this one. And we just sorta got together to write more songs in the beginning and I thought maybe there would be a couple of more songs on my next solo record. But we ended up just getting stuff done so quickly that by the second or third trip I went out there [to Los Angeles] where we actually started talking like 'Maybe this should be its own project.' And then we kept working and thought 'This is definitely it's own record.' We then had to figure out what we were going to call it but we just ended up going with both of our names (Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam) because it was just the most honest way of describing what we did.
SM: It does seem to have a little bit of both of your personal touch as this Sinatra-esque crooner and Rostam always had these baroque classic arrangements [in Vampire Weekend]. They both kind of fit together really well. Did recording in Los Angeles have any influences as well?
HL: We were there most of the time because he has all of his stuff there but we did "Alexandra" and "I Retired" in Rostam's apartment in Brooklyn. But then he moved out to LA and we did this record. It's great because it's just the two of us in the room and it's just us writing and recording and it's very low pressure. The kind of pressure that can be really be stifling is when you're paying for a studio every day and you don't necessarily feel inspired that day but you gotta get something done. I really like it so much better when you just feel like you're at home and you work when you feel like you can work. We worked a lot but then you can sort of just do something else when you feel like it's not working out.
SM: I guess the flow can come a lot more naturally when you guys are just sitting hanging out as opposed to when you're in the studio sitting around like 'I've got five hours to get this song hashed out.'
HL: Yeah, definitely. No doubt about that (laughs).
SM: You have Alexandra Savior opening up for you on your tour which we're big fans of here at KUCI. Did you approach her to have her as your opener or was it arranged in some other way?
HL: No actually I'm not sure who set up the deal but once it was proposed to me I was thrilled to have her on.
SM: During the recording and promoting of Black Hours you expressed a desire to do more songs in the vein of Frank Sinatra torch ballads and it seemed like Rostam at the time almost talked you out of it and pushed for songs like "Alexandra" on there. With this full collaboration finished is that still a project you'd like to pursue?
HL: Uhhhh (pause). I don't know actually because I was very interested in doing a big symphonic record and I am still interested in doing that but... I don't have any desire immediately to... no I don't have any desire to do that (laughs). I mean you never know because I play so much music like that. Maybe someday.
SM: It seems part of the reason The Walkmen stopped working was because it felt like creatively you may have taken the project as far as you could've in 14 years and from what I've heard no one really had much of a desire to continue doing it. Building off tha-
HL: Well that's true. I mean, yeah. You get to a point where we didn't really know what direction to turn because it had seemed like we tried so many different things. We had been doing it together since we were little kids. It just seemed like an appealing time to try something else.
SM: Building off of that, it seems that working with Rostam gave this project a unique amount of exposure since both of you are so well respected within the industry. On Black Hours you also collaborated with a lot of other people such as Amber Coffman, members of Fleet Foxes and The Shins, etc. Is that kind of collaborative spirit something you still desire as solo artist?
HL: All of those people on Black Hours were just people I hired to play; they didn't actually write anything. I needed a band and I just sought after people I liked. But I feel I do like working with people. I spend so much of the time just by myself, so the way that it comes across where you're hearing its a collaborative thing is just the sound of the final product. But most of my time I spend working completely by myself in an isolated environment. I always look at working with other people as the reward you get for all of the alone time that you put into it. It's fun to see your friends and record the songs when they're written and trying to make them sound good. That's the most fun part.
SM: Can you see yourself collaborating with Rostam again? I know both of you have a lot on your plate right now
HL: Oh absolutely. I'm sure we will. I don't if it will be immediately but we will. He wants to and I want to so definitely. We didn't run out of ideas and we left some things in the oven that I think we're going to get out at some point.
SM: Do you find yourself writing on the road a lot? I know there's a lot of downtime out there.
HL: I actually find it really hard to write on the road. I wish I could because it honestly is such a waste of time but I've tried so many times over the years but I don't find myself very creative or productive when I'm on the road.
SM: When you do sit down to write is it a more inspiration type of process? Like do you wake up with a melody in your head and run to write it down or are you more the type to force yourself to sit down and hash a song out?
HL: It's both because when I'm home in New York I like to have as much of a regular schedule as I can. And I do find that hammering away at it can have a positive effect sometimes. But usually you have no control over when the good ideas come; they can be totally random when you're out of the house or wherever, so I generally just try to work away at it.
SM: Finishing up, I feel like your voice has always been a unique and powerful asset. Were there any singers that you'd say were a formative influence growing up? Was there anyone you listened to that you could point at and say 'I want to sound like that guy.'
HL: Of course. Well actually the first singer I probably ever knew was my dad. He had a band who would play in the local chili cook-off and stuff like that. So before I even remember I'm sure I looked at him thinking, 'I can totally do that.'
SM: So growing up you're totally thinking "Man I can't wait to grow up and sing at the chili cook-offs all over town"
HL: (laughs) yeah totally! That doesn't sound so bad. Maybe I'll get there someday.

KUCI’s Top 10 Albums of 2017
As the year comes to an end, we asked our fellow DJ’s of KUCI to name their top 10 albums of 2017. After sorting through over fifty nominations, here is our list of our favorite albums that were released this year, with a some words from our community explaining why. We’ve also threw in some honorable mentions at the end! 2017 was definitely a great year for music, and we can’t wait to discover more in 2018. Happy New Year everyone!
10. Citizen - As You Please - (Run For Cover)
“Citizen was a band that I had always known about, but had never quite caught my ear enough to dive into their music. That changed, however, with As You Please. The opening track, “Jet”, is reminiscent of their past work with emotional lyrics and a driving yet somber punk instrumental feel. The following track titled “In the Middle of It All” provides a completely new and evolutionary soundscape for the band, while staying close to their usual deep lyrical content. The album as a whole is easy to listen to for both intent and absent minded purposes. Personal favorite tracks are “Ugly Luck” and “Medicine”.” - Jeremy Bibeau
"After I heard that they had a new record coming out, I just assumed that they were going to continue to develop the sound they decided to go with for Everybody Is Going To Heaven, which is why I decided to pass on As You Please at first. However, after caving in to all of the hype surrounding the album’s lead single entitled “Jet,” I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Citizen had not only made a return to their old sound, but that they had refined their sound to appeal to more of a diverse audience. This is the case for all of the songs on As You Please, not just “Jet,” which made As You Please quite a pleasant surprise upon listening to it for the first time. Much like some of their contemporaries’ latest work, As You Please is by far Citizen’s best and most complete album to date. By combining the best qualities of Citizen’s old sound (i.e. catchy yet intricate guitar riffs, powerful/explosive choruses, and angst fill vocals) with a new found sense of confidence, wisdom, and maturity, as well as more elaborate song structures and piano interludes, you get what in my opinion is the best version of Citizen that has ever existed." - Tommy DeSilva
9. (Sandy) Alex G - Rocket - (Domino Recording Company)
"The songs, while simple, sound absolutely timeless to me. “Proud” sounds like a drive out on the open countryside. “Big Fish” sounds like a quiet confession of strength to a father. “Powerful Man” sounds like a tear jerking show of emotional maturity to a skeptical family. While Alex has always been lauded for his songwriting chops (even earning a Frank Ocean co-write in the process), this is the first record that feels like it has emotional heft to it. " - Stephan Masnyj
"Rocket is revelatory, each song sampling and combining various genres (and creating new, nameless genres in the process) in a completely Alex G fashion. The melancholia, yearning, and dreaminess that pervades this album will tug at your soul in the best ways possible." - Sophie Prettyman-Beauchamp
8. Sampha - Process - (Young Turks)
"Sampha is not one to hold back the heart on his sleeve. While having worked with Sbtrkt and being it's other half, he has finally seem to come out of his shell and give his voice, well, a voice. "No One Knows Me (like the piano)" tells of his past childhood and struggles trying to figure himself out while making the living room his confessional. 'Incomplete Kisses' speaks of unrequited love with amazing lines and utter softness of ones heartbreak. Sampha has shown us his true colors while barely breaking the ice. I can not wait for more albums to come from such an amazing voice in R&B." - T.J. Bingamon
7. Thundercat - Drunk - (Brainfeeder)
"Very solid (and lengthy) release from Thundercat this year with Drunk. Each track on this album is dripping with funky jazzy vibes that make it really difficult to get sick of." - Alex Morrow
"A Personal favorite that could easily go unnoticed from the amount of music set out this year. Thundercat's Drunk is unprecedented in the ability to make emotion through his work with bass. A great album to listen to for long rides in the car alone." - Christopher Santiago
6. King Krule - The Ooz - (True Panther Sounds XL)
"I think The Ooz is one of those albums you really need to listen to a few times before it grows on you. I think it's an amazing follow up to his last album, and I feel like on The Ooz we get a better sense of his Archy Marshall music and sound. The imagery he uses is also interesting and creative!" - Katrina Vergara
"King Krule’s inventive garage punk-jazz fusion and mumbling, growling voice are always worth waiting for. The Ooz oozes creative frustration ingeniously overcame. The esteemed wunderkind who is Archy Marshall really did that." - Sophie Prettyman-Beauchamp
5. Lorde - Melodrama - (Lava / Republic)
"Lorde’s comeback that I didn’t know I needed, putting into words all the themes of finding oneself, looking for love, and just growing up from being a teen." - Caroline Nguyen
"The main narrative surrounding Lorde’s rise to prominence has been her authority for her age (as of now, she is 21), and that has never been more apparent than her clear-eyed analysis of teenage years on this record. “Homemade Dynamite” dissects the social dynamics and self destructive tendencies people often have during a party with surgical precision, while “Supercut” takes a relationship in retrospect and understand that memories of a lost lover usually have a rose-colored tint to them. The most stunning cut on the record is “Writer in the Dark,” a song that embodies the hate, regret, and mourning that often comes directly after the end of the relationship. The way Lorde is able to thread the needle between all the separate emotions throughout the verses and chorus is nothing short of stunning, and her vocal delivery delivers an emotional depth Adele would kill to have." - Stephan Masnyj
4. Alvvays - Antisocialites - (Polyvinyl Record Co.)
"Alvvays are such an awesome band, and in my opinion, Antisocialites is nothing short of a masterpiece. Characterized by jangly guitars, dreamy synth parts, poppy vocal melodies, and lead vocalist Molly Rankin’s soothing voice, the songs on this record sound as though they were taken straight from Indie Rock/Dream Pop heaven. While listening to this album, one can easily lose themselves in the dreamy nature of some of these songs. That’s not to say by any means that this record “drags on.” In fact, no two songs sound alike on this album, which definitely showcases the versatility of Alvvays’ musicianship as well as their ability to keep listeners on their toes." - Tommy DeSilva
“I was over the moon when I found out Alvvays was coming out with another album. Their self-titled is one of my favorites, so I was eager to know what they had in store for their sophomore album. When I first heard "Dreams Tonite" I knew the rest of the album would be just as great. This album is your indie pop dream, with a different feel on each track.” - Caitlin Ison
3. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN - (Top Dawg / Aftermath / Interscope)
"Releases by Kendrick Lamar never go unnoticed and DAMN certainly did not when it dropped. By far a definition of modern classic and experimental." - Christopher Santiago
"Kendrick Lamar's DAMN is an insightful look into the rapper's past life and future. While K. Dot relays the album to be the story of his father coming into a close call of having an alternative life ending, but while still relating to his current life woes. Thru tracks like 'Yah' revealing the grittiness of Compton blue-collar work, to 'Love' a record boasting of vulnerability and questions, Kendrick delivers yet another piece of his life's work and puzzle." - T.J. Bingamon
“From my perspective, it’s weird to think of Kendrick at the top of the pop charts; I always saw him as a supremely talented artist who’s ambitions ran deeper than pop radio. However, it turns out Kendrick can release pop hits while still maintaining the endless depth his raps often do. “Humble” is both a boast and a self-aggrandizement in the form of a three minute pop song. “DNA” is a firestorm of a rap that examines the good, bad, and ugly that exist within all of us.” - Stephan Masnyj
2. Tyler, the Creator - Flower Boy - (Columbia)
“Flower Boy is Tyler, the Creator’s fourth album, and encaptures his wittiness and internal conflict through a softer side with the use of neo-soul and the sounds of early 90’s hip-hop. He delves deep into his emotions in a mere 47 minutes, making this one of his most intimate and sincere yet shortest album. It focuses on isolation, the falling-out of friendships, and the pain of unrequited love, themes many listeners can find relatable. The whole feel of the album holds such a significant difference from Tyler’s older albums, which really goes to show his growth, not only in his music, but as a person.” - Raenna Caguioa
"Whenever Tyler, the Creator would release a record following his breakthrough “Goblin” in 2011, the question always remained the same: When will he finally grow up? His talent was always palpable, the dizzying raps in “Yonkers” and the emotional story in “48” showed his talents as a writer, and his growing production credits on “Wolf” and “Cherry Bomb” showed that he had a distinct style within his musical repertoire. Yet he always fell back on his worst tendencies; frequently using homophobic slurs or creating worthless posse cuts that did nothing but ruin the flow of his records. All of that changed with Flower Boy, easily his most cohesive and mature record to date. Much has been said about his alleged coming out in the record (a subject that Tyler has remained mum on since the album’s release), but it isn’t stated enough just how wonderful this record sounds. The strings and horns that dot highlight “See You Again” are stunning, and the queasy synths that Tyler has used in the past take on a new urgency on “I Ain’t Got Time.” Every single rap, beat, and instrument inform each other throughout the record, and not a single thing sounds out of place throughout. “Tell these black kids they can be who they are,” raps Tyler on the highlight “Where the Flower Blooms.” For the first time in his career, Tyler sounds like he’s living those words to the fullest." - Stephan Masnyj
1. SZA - Ctrl - (Top Dawg / RCA)
"I felt like this album came out at the right time in my life. The deeply personal lyrics on every song made it weirdly relatable for me. SZA really refined her sound since her last album titled Z. I love the concept and every song on this album. " - Yasmin Moradi
"An album that needs no explaining, SZA's Ctrl ups the ante with her debut studio album, most well known for her features prior to this, she makes a name for herself with this anecdotal release." - Christopher Santiago
"It's no wonder SZA is probably one of the biggest artists to emerge out of 2017. I hadn't listen to her prior, but there was so much talk after Ctrl was released, I knew I had to see what the fuss was about. To say the least, I was not disappointed. Of course there are the standouts of the album, "The Weekend" and "Love Galore," but there are also some underrated tracks like "Drew Barrymore" and "Prom." Personally, I think an artist's biggest success is when they can make a listener feel their emotions, regardless of if they can relate to the song or not. I felt SZA's emotions in every single track, and I don't think I've really ever been in any of those situations. I thought that was really beautiful. Also, it's hard not to fall in love her incredible buttery voice." - Caitlin Ison
"I love this album because all the songs are bangers but they also make me cry. One publication called Ctrl an album about side-hoe anthems but that's so far from the truth! SZA sings about insecurity, adjusting to adulthood, and bad relationships with such honesty. Anyone can relate to her struggles of going through your twenties feeling vulnerable, whether you're a side hoe or the main." - Katrina Vergara
"Where do I start? SZA’s vocals are gorgeous and lush, earnest and biting, confident even when expressing pain and insecurity. It’s a versatile album you can both cry to and dance to, mixing elements of R&B and lo-fi indie rock. It’s a reminder of female strength and independence, and even has an ode to the vagina that simultaneously disses ungrateful, trash dudes. SZA is a normal girl with the same wishes and fears as the women who listen to her music, her lyrics resonate with those of us who are still finding our way and learning how to love and respect ourselves. It’s like sitting down with a good friend who laughs with you, cries with you, and always knows the right thing to say, helping you regain your own power. Ctrl is what it feels like to be a woman." - Sophie Prettyman-Beauchamp
Honorable Mentions
The XX - "I See You" (XL Recordings)
"A perfect balance between pop and melancholy, with songs like "Dangerous" and "On Hold" upbeat despite lyrics suggesting doomed relationships. Meanwhile, "Say Something Loving" and "A Violent Noise" are filled with the emotional angst that has made the XX so popular." - Jarrett Lovell
The Drums - Abysmal Thoughts - (Anti-)
"You can always count on The Drums to deliver a fantastic surf-pop inspired album, and they do it once again with Abysmal Thoughts, the title appropriate for 2017 indeed. The album does have its fair share of these, as Jonny Pierce, blessed with an airily angelic voice, grapples with heartbreak and feelings of nothingness on “If All We Share (Means Nothing)” and chastises the upper class with “Rich Kids.” Nevertheless, The Drums remain beachy goodness with the beloved simple riffs and chords that bounce along, tambourines, cooing backing vocals, and 80s-esque synths that are sure to leave you dancing through your tears." - Sophie Pettyman-Beauchamp
Tigers Jaw - spin - (Black Cement Records)
"This record felt like it took forever to come out seeing that many of us Tigers Jaw fans had been talking about it ever since their last record Charmer came out in 2014 along with the announcement that Tigers Jaw would from now on be a two-piece band solely featuring founding members Ben Walsh and Brianna Collins. Would they be able to make a record by themselves? Would it sound as good as the original lineup? Two questions that had lingered for quite some time amongst the Tigers Jaw fan base. After making us anxiously wait for over three years (which producer Will Yip made even more dreadful by dropping little hints about the album here and there for like six months), Tigers Jaw finally released spin earlier this Spring, and as you would expect, it was definitely worth the wait. Tigers Jaw have always been an awesome band who have consistently put out great records from front to back, so for me to say that spin is their best album would be kind of stretch, but it’s pretty damn good and should be in that conversation. While staying true to the sound that the original five piece version of Tigers Jaw developed, Ben and Brianna were still able to add their own personal touches to the songs on this record, especially since they were both in charge of songwriting duties for the first time (spin is the first Tigers Jaw album that Brianna has contributed songs to). The thing that I like the most about spin is that you can really tell that Ben and Brianna spent a lot of time on these songs and put their best effort forward to make them the best that they could be in every way. Every song on this album is well crafted both musically and lyrically. No two songs sound the same and everything sounds perfect down to the smallest detail. I really appreciate great musicianship like that, and I look forward to hearing what Ben and Brianna have in store for us next as they continue to keep Tigers Jaw not only alive, but alive and thriving." - Tommy DeSilva
HAIM - Something to Tell You - (Columbia)
"By far, my favorite record that was released this year. I've been a huge fan of HAIM since their first album, which was released when I was in high school, and I had that sh*t on repeat for days. I remember finding out that the three sisters were working on new material, and I was literally counting down the days to hear their new single, "Right Now." The video of them singing the track live in a studio was so raw and filled with emotion, it left me speechless. I knew this album was going to be packed with tears and heartbreak. I love this album because while it dwells on the hurt and pain one can experience in a romance that could've been, the music contrasts it with its upbeat, dancey tones. This album really has got that Stevie Nicks / Shania Twain vibe (which is fitting because they chose to cover "That Don't Impress Me Much" for their tour), and mixing that with their HAIM sound really makes it a memorable record. One of my favorite characteristics of this band is their bad ass attitude, and although it's a record about heartbreak, you can still feel that energy throughout." - Caitlin Ison
BROCKHAMPTON - Saturation II - (QUESTION EVERYTHING, INC. / EMPIRE)
“Arguably Brockhampton’s best album. Nearly every song is one I can jam to (or if it’s the last song- one I can cry to). I love Brockhampton’s unconventional rap lyrics and I think it makes them stand out from up-and-coming artists. They really are the best boy band since One Direction.” - Yasmin Moradi
"BROCKHAMPTON came out with 2 other albums just this year but I would say this was the most iconic one. With this album they really established a signature sound and the members were able to find their voice within the boy band. Even though Pitchfork didn't give this album a good score, I would give this album a 10/10 if not only for cultural impact but for how good SWEET is." - Katrina Vergara
Hot Flash Heat Wave - Soaked - (OIM)
“HFHW’s sophomore album is what I like to call a true sound of the (indie rock) times. Soaked is a big step in a new direction, after Neapolitan delivered hard hints of garage rock and sunshine pop; this album rides a chiller, more ambitious wave, reflecting contemporary rock genres like Slacker Rock and Jangle Pop [The Smiths, The Beatles, Mac Demarco, Homeshake], while still giving into sunny roots of Surf and Garage rock [The Beach Boys, The Strokes]. The record clocks in at just under 40 minutes, while delivering two more tracks than its preceding album. One play-through will not be enough, especially on that cozy summer day.” - Spartacus Avina
