Metallo!Lena AU Part 22
Despite Kara's patent joy over being included in Lena's holiday event, Lena can't shake the feeling of disappointment that follows her. She can't put her finger on what bothers her about the photo Kara prints and gets framed of them, until one night she's glaring at the picture and a wayward thought darts across her mind.
I should have kissed her.
The thought stops Lena in her tracks, her brain record-scratching to a halt. But as shocking as it is, her new revelation soon envelops her like a warm blanket. She wants to kiss Kara. She... loves Kara.
Lena's eyes sting with tears-- she's in love. A state so pedestrian, so normal... it's something she'd never imagined she'd have again, and yet here it is, proof that despite the parts of her no longer her own, she's still capable of the one thing it is to be human. To love.
She laughs then, a wet sound that leaves her sniffling as she cranks up the holiday radio. The familiar music fills the room, and Lena lets herself bop around to the beat, unable to sit still.
She's in love.
She's alive.
---
She doesn't tell Kara.
As soon as her initial euphoria dims, doubt surges in to take her place. What if Kara doesn't feel the same way? What if the reason Kara got the photo of them framed is because it perfectly encapsulates their friendship-- their friendship, and nothing more?
If Lena says something, and Kara doesn't feel the same way, she'll ruin everything that fills her life with joy: their friendship, working with Supergirl, being roommates, everything. So Lena keeps her discovery to herself, and instead cherishes every moment she has with Kara.
They bake cookies for Kara's annual holiday party, and Lena takes a mental snapshot of Kara smiling at her over coffee, her cheek smudged with flour. She helps decorate the tree, and feels her hand burn under Kara's touch when Kara wobbles on the ladder and reaches for her in reflex.
She avoids the mistletoe Kara puts up like the plague, determined not to be caught beneath it with Kara or anyone else.
There's something special in the way Kara welcomes others into their home. The guests are comfortable enough, but there's a stiffness in their postures to be in someone else's home, but Lena isn't stiff. She's totally at ease, as much a host as Kara. But her eyes are never far from Kara, who looks festive and cozy in a flattering christmas sweater.
Kara glows in the the twinkle of the christmas tree lights, her smile warm and infectious. Heat pools in Lena's chest, and this time it has nothing to do with the kryptonite sitting there. Its all Kara, all smiles, and when Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree comes up on the playlist, Lena lets Kara pull her into the dance they never got at the gala.
By the end Lena is laughing and giddy with happiness, her face flushed. They flop onto the couch together, giggling. Kara leans into her, and Lena knows in that moment there is no other place she would rather be than right here, her arm hooked through Kara's.
She is home.
---
After the new year, Lena finds herself in a state of calm. L-Corp has completed its rebranding and is running smoothly. The media furor around her has largely dissipated with no shocking news to feed them. She and Kara are in a state of perfect harmony.
Even her work with the DEO has been minimal over the holidays, so when Lena is pinged with a set of coordinates, Lena relishes the change of pace.
With a touch of her watch Lena's armor slides into place around her, and she when arrives at the location she's surprised to see Supergirl hasn't beat her there. Cueing her comms, Lena radios back to the DEO.
"Command, this is Luthor. I am on site, please advise."
"Luthor, this is Command. Supergirl and Director Danvers have just wrapped up at another location and are en route. Secure perimeter."
"Roger that."
Lena scopes out the area from a distance first. There doesn't appear to be any movement external to the building, so when she finally approaches she doesn't expect any interlopers. Even so, the lack of life from inside the warehouse puts her on edge.
Maybe it's another warehouse of Coville's, she reasons, and the DEO is concerned more kryptonite may be present. Even if it were, something feels off. Lena carefully approaches, and upon finding nothing of interest at the perimeter, gets a little closer.
As she steps close enough to peer into one of the windows, several things happen at once. A small grenade clinks to the pavement behind her, issuing a thick plume of smoke that blankets the immediate area in a dense fog, blinding her. Lena immediately switches her optics to thermal, just in time to see a hulking figure loom with a rocket launcher at the ready on his shoulder.
When it fires, it releases not a rocket but a fine metal mesh that wraps tightly around Lena with enough force to knock her from her feet. The figure clicks a button and the net comes to life with electricity, surging through her armor and shorting out every circuit. It blinds and burns her, and suddenly her suit locks into place around her, dead in the water.
With her optics gone, Lena can't see or hear anything except her own ragged breath, until an unseen hand reaches under her chin and rips her helmet open. The smoke from the grenade fills her nose and lungs, making her choke. Through tearing eyes Lena can just make out the shadow of another figure crouching next to her.
Something sharp pricks against her neck, and in moments Lena's senses begin to blur. The last thing she hears before losing consciousness is a familiar voice.
"Welcome back, sis."

THE APOCALYPSE —
Clark was forced to just watch the bloom of fire and smoke and debris take out part of Liberty Bridge. He stumbled backward into a podium, but for a second he did nothing. Then all of a sudden he surged forward and slammed his fists against the screen until the entire thing had gone black, cracking into a spidery formation that reached the edges. Without the Kryptonite diminishing his power, a hit like that would've taken out both the screen and the wall behind it. "No!"
Joker had said it was a choice, but Joker was a liar. Even if there were only one bomb, it still meant that Superman failed, didn't it? He... failed. He'd sworn to protect the citizens of Star City and already he’d broken that promise. He couldn't even make it out of the room. What was stopping Joker from choosing for him again? Nothing.
...Nothing.
Panic seized him, although heavily aided by the fear gas Joker had dosed him with. He couldn't watch it happen to Lois, to his son, or Kara and Eva. He couldn't let the catastrophic vision he'd had be the reality. He’d already failed Star City and its people, but how could he fail his family?
Clark turned from the broken screen as the timer edged closer to the ten second mark and then pass it. His blood was like ice in his veins. Like a man possessed, barely even aware that he was moving his arm, he made his choice.
The city was already in Joker’s clutches. He had to save his family.
Here it was. The moment of truth. Once Superman’s powerful hand smacked down, it became clear that Joker had been expertly playing a game. Not just with Superman, but the entire city. He’d said everyone loved a good plot twist - well, he managed not one, but two.
In Star City, a great rumbling sounded preceded a sudden BOOM. Every billboard-sized screen that Joker had placed throughout the city to play the live feed for his captive audience exploded into color. Literally. Glittering confetti shot out from strategically placed cannons and rained down into the streets below. Superman chose to sacrifice Star City and Joker had promised a show.
With festive flecks of paper and glitter settling over the confused crowd, a maniacal laugh cut through the shocked silence. “Silly, silly. Why would I give NOVA what they wanted? Why, you and I share a common enemy! No, no. I don’t think Star City will go boom today. For the real finale, turn your attention westward!”
On the heels of Joker’s cryptic warning, a second round of confetti cannons deployed. The air was filled once more with sparkling bits of color as the sky five hundred miles away ballooned in orange and yellow fire.
At the new NOVA headquarters, where Jihl Nabel was currently surrendering, the ground and sky split without warning. The mouth of hell itself would have opened with less ferocity. For one suspended moment the blast made no sound, instead everyone was blanketed by an unnatural silence that would not last. Those present had no time to react before the building and its surroundings was swallowed by light and blasted apart, leaving only pieces of foundation, twisted metal, and a thick covering of ash.
Around the NOVA agents and Colonel Jihl Nabel, an unstoppable force of radiation, heat, and pressure closed in. Anything and anyone not aided by shielding or superhuman ability would be consumed and disintegrated by the blast. A shockwave powerful enough to crush cars followed, leveling anything that remained standing after the initial blast. A deafening, indescribable sound replaced the eerie silence as the world around them was blown apart at the seams.
For those who survived, they would be choking on smoke so thick it felt solid and caught in their throats. Visibility was at first nonexistent, but an account of bodies would show several missing. There was no sign of Jihl Nabel or any of the agents who’d backed her, and a grisly discovery awaited the survivors.
Once the ash was disturbed, Batman’s shredded cowl lay on the ground.
Star City had survived, but at what cost?
TEAM A:
MEMBERS: Bruce Wayne, Steve Rogers, Diana Prince, Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, Erik Lehnsherr, Wanda Maximoff, Anna Raven, Jihl Nabel, Bucky Barnes, Dick Grayson, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff, & Tommy Shepherd.
LOCATION: NOVA’s new Headquarters, 500 miles outside of Star City.
STATUS: Communications are down, meaning contact to League members and others is not currently possible. The area in and around the destroyed headquarters is unstable and should be evacuated, but Bruce’s absence has scrambled priorities.
TEAM B:
MEMBERS: Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Barbara Gordon, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Jim Gordon, Roy Harper, Anton Satan, Wally West, Ted Kord, Donna Troy, & Airen Ravencroft.
LOCATION: Wayne Manor, Joker’s hideout, Harley’s hideout, Star City
STATUS: Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Fox Tail, and Red Hood have closed in on Joker’s hideout. Superman is still held inside, weakened severely by Kryptonite and Fear Gas. Confrontation is inevitable, and Joker will not be alone. Batgirl, Black Bat, and (formerly) Robin are following clues to reach the kidnapped Kara, Eva, Jon, and Lois. Elsewhere, Anton Satan has finally found the location of his family and is also on track to rescue them. Other team members assisting with the evacuation will focus on ensuring the safety of citizens still inside the city and tending to the wounded.
TEAM C:
MEMBERS: Scott Summers, Bobby Drake x 2, Julian Keller, Gabby Kinney, Nathan Summers, & Quentin Quire.
LOCATION: Glades Bay, District X, Star City
STATUS: The X-Men will join the remaining members of Team B, the SCPD, and others in securing the city, aiding with medical treatment, and transport. While the threat from Joker appears to be over, aside from the mountains of confetti, plenty of damage has been done. The alternate evacuation route created by Iceman will be maintained, as Liberty Bridge remains in disrepair after the explosion.
At this time, it is unknown to anyone on the outside whether or not there are any survivors from Team A.

3 Doors Down heizen am Rock the Ring 2020 ein
Rock the Ring gibt weitere Top-Acts bekannt
US-Rock-Band mit Kultstatus Mit Songs wie “Here without you”, “Kryptonite” und “It’s not my time” wurden 3 Doors Down in den 2000er Jahren weltbekannt.

Drop what you’re doing, because Zara’s summer 2019 sale is finally here. Here’s the deal: Zara hosts massive semiannual sales every couple seasons. These sales are typically site-wide—meaning every single item on the Zara website is discounted. The items get listed at deeper and deeper discounts until they sell out completely, and the sale doesn’t end until everything is gone. In other words, Zara just made all your budget shopping dreams come true.
Now, we’ve said this before and we’ll say it again, nothing is perfect—and that’s true of Zara’s summer 2019 sale, too. While the deals are as absolutely delightful as they sound, shopping them is a seriously competitive endeavor. Every avid online shopper knows that Zara’s semiannual sale is a BFD, so they come prepared. We’re talking, shopping carts already full of everything they want so all they have to do is hit “check out” when the sale goes live. Panning For Uranium Festival - Sacajawea Park
7th Annual PANNING FOR URANIUM Festival, Sacajawea Park Pocatello, Idaho
It's Safe Time.* Time to wash the dust off yourselves and have a fun profitable day at the Pocatello Valley Annual PANNING FOR URANIUM Festival. (*Cautions)
This annual event is like no other in the world. As nowhere else in the world can you be guaranteed to hit pay dirt so easily! Just watch for the gray sand on the bottom of your pan! And it's so heavy that even the gold will float on top of it! It's a rare earth's jackpot!
The water will be shallow, so come early to claim the best spots! Plenty of Uranium for everybody!
Our upper valley participants, can travel to Rexburg where they can use shovels if the canals are turned off, otherwise use caution!
Those wishing to dredge must obtain permits from the Pocatello IDEQ Office, for a nominal fee?
*REMEMBER: KEEP ALL URANIUM MATERIALS IN WATER! Yep, Just like they do for Uranium materials in Nuclear reactors. Same reasons apply!
Clam your money at any heavy metals buyer office. *Caution: Do not sell to hostile foreign buyers. These are a Made in Pocatello Products: Shop and Sell locally!
The U.S. Atomic Energy Agency and the NRC will analyze samples free of charge. A sample of 10 lbs. should be sent for analysis with the location and occurrence or quantity. *Remember "Safety First!" If you don't have a Geiger counter, ask the ISU Health Physics Department, or the IDEQ. Just tell them: "Safety First!"
This years Festival is in remembrance of Mike O'Donnel, a great writer who wasn't afraid to write.
Other fun filled Activities: ISUU "Pocymon Go and Uranium Go: - Find the Uranium on Uranium University. "Kryptonite Hike" Night hiking with your 'Black Lights' to find the glowing green Uranium. *Caution: Keep off busy uranium roads.
