A Puzzling Phrase from Brainiac
The way Brainiac described how he destroyed Krypton was...odd.
He "ripped Krypton from the heavens and cast it into hell". I mean, we've seen how Brainiac destroys planets: sets them on fire for a bit until they become grey lifeless husks. Doesn't quite fit the phrasing.
No, Brainiac just unleashed a black triangle thing that did something to Krypton. I want to say that it destroyed the planet, but that black triangle got me remembering that scene in "Man of Steel" (2013) where Zod and his minions were cast into the Phantom Zone through a black triangular door...
Oh, dear.

Isn't there an age limit?
The Justice League gathered in the meeting room to deal with yet another potential world ending threat. On the screen was a projection of an incoming alien armada. The invaders were as numerous as the stars. Each spaceship looked like a skull with many tentacles.
“These mechanical ships harvest a world’s resources, destroying all life, while terraforming the planet into servers which become part of Brainiac’s interstellar network,” Batman explained.
“We don’t have sufficient numbers to take them all down,” Martian Manhunter pointed out. “Is there a weakness we can target? Or do they have a leader we can capture to force the entire fleet into submission?”
“We need to locate Brainiac and infiltrate the ship he’s on.” While Batman spoke, a hush silence fell on the entire room. Everyone stared at the screen behind him, with mouths wide open.
Turning around, Batman stared in unbelief.
A massive sphere - a dead star, moved between Earth and the alien army.
The cameras zoomed in on a red dot pushing it - Fawcett’s new local hero with the demeanour of a golden retriever - Captain Marvel.
Gripping the titanic star like an oversized plastic ball, he swung it forward, hitting the incoming spaceships out of the galaxy.
The Herculean man’s face lit with childish glee as he pumped his fist in the air.
Grinning like an idiot, he carted the unimaginably heavy celestial object away, while whistling a ditty.
How powerful was that man?
More importantly, does he have any weakness in case he needs to be taken down?
“Phew,” Flash was the first to get his voice back. “The new guy took care of that. So can we go home now?”
“No,” Batman raised his hand. “Change of agenda. It’s time we expanded our membership.” Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. What better way to keep an eye on the new guy than to bring him into the fold.
Superman had a silly hopeful grin on his face. “I vote we invite Captain Marvel to join the League.”  The Last Son of Krypton must suspect that the new hero is a fellow Kryptonian.
“We don’t know anything about him,” Green Lantern cautioned.
“Better get him on our side than have him join our enemies,” Batman replied as the screen showed photos and articles about Captain Marvel gleaned from the internet for all to study.
“He’s clean.” Cyborg ran his checks on the man. “He’s a boy scout. Half of all the footage I have found — and I mean exactly half — shows him rescuing cats from trees or helping little old ladies cross the road while carrying groceries for them.”
“Cast your votes,” Batman ordered. “Do we want Captain Marvel to be a member of the Justice League?”
*
The decision was unanimous. Captain Marvel has a place in the Justice League, that is, if he wants it. With his power set, he would be a valuable asset to the team. All appearances of the new hero have shown that he is one of the good guys.
“I’ll ask him,” Superman volunteered. He was dying to meet the new guy. He had to be a fellow Kryptonian. Though he must have a chat with The Captain about Bat-paranoia, to hide how much Kryptonians can really do. Otherwise Bats might break out his Kryptonite stores to hit them both.
For example, while pushing a titanic star, for goodness sake, please make it look a lot more challenging.
According to Cyborg, Captain Marvel would appear in Fawcett right after a massive lightning strike from the clear, cloudless sky. The hero tended to patrol Fawcett for an hour before seven in the morning and for an hour after three in the afternoon on weekdays. His schedule was more unpredictable during the weekends.
Clark was a reporter.
Could The Captain be an elementary school teacher in his civilian identity?
It was a quarter past three on a Wednesday afternoon. Superman hovered four hundred feet above Fawcett’s busiest square, drawing a curious crowd while he waited for Captain Marvel to make his appearance.
Lightning struck an alley near a local elementary school.
“S-superman!” Captain Marvel hovered in front of him.
The man’s brilliant blue eyes brimmed with excitement as he stared at Superman with an open-mouthed grin.
“What brings you to Fawcett?” The Captain’s cheeks flushed as he stiffened, arms crossing his heavily muscled chest. If Superman didn’t know any better, he’d think Captain Marvel was starstruck.
“Captain Marvel,” Superman began, feeling a little self conscious.“I come on behalf of the Justice League. We’ve seen what you can do and want you to join our team.”
“You want me to join the Justice League?” The big guy was practically bouncing with excitement. If he were a golden retriever with a tail, he’d be wagging it.
Just as abruptly, he looked down, slouching as if trying to shrink his large frame. “But isn’t there an age limit to join the League?”
“We don’t discriminate against anyone based on their ages.”
Superman whispered conspiratorially. “I don’t even know how old I was when my ship landed on earth. For all you know, it could have taken lightyears to get here.”
“Hmm,” Captain Marvel rubbed the back of his neck. “If you say so.”
“Take your time to think about it,” Superman handed him a League communicator. “This is for you. If you want to talk to us, just press this button,” he showed The Captain how to use the device.
“For me?” The guy looked as excited as a kid who had received a shiny new toy.
“Yes, for you,” Superman replied. “Call us when you’ve decided.”
“I want in,” Captain looked up, grinning from ear to ear.
“Then, welcome to the Justice League!” Superman shook his hand. “Come with me to our headquarters.”
*
The flight to the Justice League’s Headquarters with Superman was fun.
That giant satellite that Cap often flew past when he left earth’s atmosphere was the Justice League’s Watchtower -  a secret meeting place for Justice League members.
Billy was flying with Superman.
Elated.
The SUPERMAN!
How cool was that?
His hero was a lot chattier in person.
Superman talked about Krypton, his home world. His dad uploaded all Krypton’s history and knowledge into the A.I. of the spaceship that brought Kal-el to earth.
Kal-el was Superman’s birth name.
“What’s your birth name?” Superman asked?
“William,” Cap replied.
“Wil-em,” Superman looked deep in thought.
“The Ems — I think I know your bloodline.”
“You do?” The thought that Superman even cared about Billy’s family warmed him like a cup of hot chocolate. But as far as Billy knew, he was a Batson, not an Em. He was four when he lost his family. It’s been three years since. His memories of Daddy, Mummy and Mary were beginning to fade.
“Come with me to my Fortress of Solitude after your induction and I’ll show you Krypton’s records about the Ems,” Superman grinned as he tapped on the satellite.
A panel slid open.
“Where is it?” Cap asked as he flew into the airlock.
“In the Arctic,” he accompanied Cap in the dock.
“Are there polar bears?” Cap felt giddy with excitement.
“Plenty,” Superman laughed as he walked Cap through the massive hall. It was like nothing Billy had ever seen.
“I can introduce you to a family of friendly bears,” Superman grinned.
“I would love that,” Billy’s heart did flip flops over the thought of getting to meet polar bears who were friends with Superman. Cap could speak all languages. He’d have a great time chatting with Superman’s bear buddies.
“Holy Moley,” Captain Marvel exclaimed as he walked through the security checkpoint. The doorway opened into futuristic corridor with interactive walls and holographic displays.
Announcing the arrival of Superman and his guest Captain Marvel, a tinny voice rang out.
“Brace yourself,” Superman whispered. “The rest of the League is waiting for us in the meeting room.”
A metallic panel slid open revealing a grand meeting room. Batman sat at the head of the long table. Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Aquaman sat around it. There were two empty seats.
All eyes were on Captain Marvel.
“Holy Moley,” Cap whispered. He couldn’t help himself. It’s a bad habit he picked up from his late father.
“Guys,” Superman announced. “Captain Marvel has agreed to join the Justice League.”
The room broke into applause.
“Welcome to the team,” Flash whooped.
“Let’s celebrate,” Aquaman tilted a large bottle of whiskey, filled a glass and slid it across the table to Captain Marvel.
Cap looked at the glass in front of him and back at Aquaman. “Isn’t there an age limit?”

They believe her when she tells them she got homesick.
That she couldn't stay the full month in Argo because she missed National City too much, missed all of them. Everyone at game night seems pleased to hear this - Kara knows they were all a little afraid she might never come back.  "Well, I for one am glad to have you back," Alex says, squeezing her tight. Kara gives Alex her best smile. "I need at least one person here that I can beat at this game." They all laugh, Kara scoffs and shoves her away, and the night moves on without any more questions. She’s grateful for that. She doesn’t know how to tell them that she came home early because no one there laughed at her jokes.
That her childhood friends have grown into different people with a decade of commonality that Kara missed out on. That the old humor they’d so intimately shared a decade before feels stale now, and her attempts at joking were met with uncomfortable silence. That people would speak to her in slow, careful words, as if she were only just now learning the language and not a native speaker. Their dialect had evolved, after all, their language shifted. They had a decade of culture without her, and the culture they once shared now only she carries.
She can’t tell them how the one laugh she got her entire trip was after she said a word she’s known from the moment she could talk - a word she’s always carried without thought or hesitation – and a young man laughed at her. He told her she sounded old, like a grandmother. That people don’t use that word anymore. Her ears were buzzing too hard in shame for her to even catch the new word he told her. She had just stopped trying to say anything at all.
Even being with her mother felt strange. Trying to navigate a relationship as two adults despite only having a childhood familiarity felt torturous. Her mother, at least, was able to engage more with her old memories, her old language. They could share nostalgia without the crushing weight of cultural progression overwhelming them. Even still, it was hard. She felt more like an alien on Argo than she’d felt in ages on Earth.
It felt like being in the phantom zone again, of being stuck in a space without time. Even dead, Krypton had moved on without her. It didn’t need her to carry its memory anymore. Like always, she was the one left behind.  There were no words for a feeling like that, none that she could share meaningfully. Even on Earth her language felt inadequate. Parts were always missing. So, when she comes home two weeks into her planned month-long visit to Argo, she says what she thinks they need to hear: it was fun, it was wonderful, but I missed home. I missed you.
It's not a lie. She did miss them, like she missed her people lost on Krypton. Like she missed her mother and childhood friends, even as they sat in front of her alive and well. No matter where she was or who she was with, she missed.

DPxDC thought
The Infinite Realms is a place where dead things live, and there are so many things that die. People, animals, worlds, stars. Kryptonian powers vary based on solar radiation; what then, do they get when face to flame with a star long dead? A supernova witnessed by dinosaurs, a neutron star whose pulsar last pulsed before life on Krypton? What might he get? Or does the Ghost Zone have its own 'sun' that might give him new powers? Although the only one I could think of that Superman would use would be the Intangibility.
I just think it would be neat to explore the topic

The House of Mysteries is Arguably Sentient Right?
(O.O ) I sit here... contemplating the... WEIRD Ghosts Danny might come across. The true Haunted Houses. Planets. Theaters. Boxes bigger on the inside. Living ships and A.I.s, Etc.
All things can die. If the house of mysteries is someday utterly destroyed? Is that not death? If the Planet and Green Lantern Mogo is broken to pieces like non-sentient Krypton was, has he not perished?
Do they not stand equal chance of become Ghosts?
Are.... Are Haunts even created? Or are they a symbiotic ghost relationship? The dual fulfilling of Obsession. A house, properly haunted and taking care of someone. And a Ghost, watching TV or organizing stamps or living out the fantasy of their Perfect Life.
All behind purple doors.
Houses are demolished all the time. Or lost to war or disaster. An old enough house? Enough people living and dying in it? Could arguably start to accumulate ectoplasm. Become, not sentient, but a touch more. And in dying? Like any animal, leave behind that Idea of who they were. That ALMOST and Instinct.
Certain places though? That are alive? That have seen far too much death? They seem to carry over. Castles and long burned libraries, coliseums, and frozen hills. The places life was lost, over and over or all at once.
Floating islands from long dead planets.
I bet we could find Kryptonian flora on some of them. If we looked in the right area. It must be a strange mix. Down right bizarre. Facing just about anything and wondering if it's sentient.
With Ectoplasm? It could be.
But at the same time? Imagine the RELIEF? Of, after the stress and fear of dying, waking up CHANGED, somewhere new and alone... searching desperately for something, anything, to ground your self? The relief you'd feel... when a door seems to drift right into out of nowhere. Just? Gentle bonk.
And yeah, it's purple. Looks like every generic door that's ever been. But? It has this VIBE. Like you're staring at the door to your first shit apartment, but it's YOURS and YOU paid for it and you're... you're home now. You open it.
And it's like some crammed every inspo board you ever had and all the parts of every room you ever loved, together. Familiar, new, and best of all? NOT a vast swirling green void. You drift inside.
If you're like so many ghosts? Probably never leave. Why would you? It's spooky and loud and crazy out there. Everyone's nuts. In HERE it's nice. No fights, art and food the way you like it, time feels muted and far away...
You only really snap OUT of your happy Vibe Sesh with your House Haunt when someone intrudes.
There us probably a whole flip side of the Zone that we never really see. Haunt politics. Competition for the really GOOD Ghosts. Haunts that don't want a ghost because they are waiting for somebody who may or may not come.
Other fuckin MOGO'S. Seriously. Sentient planet. That may be rare, may even be the sole example IN THEIR UNIVERSE, but the Zone is Multiversal. Literally Infinite.
Which means there ARE at least a handful or more of SENTIENT PLANET GHOSTS. How do you?? Cope? "Oh this is my buddy, the PLANET EARTH." But possibly BIGGER.
Fuck that's a lot of Ectoplasm. Thank Zone their Obsession's are usually "Be Prosperous Planet" and "orbit and protect this Star, which is sentient and my frient".
Oh? They forgot to mention the SENTIENT FUCKING STAR? As in giant ball of fire and death? Whoops! :T
Don't worry! THEIR Obsession is their planets! It's a full circle thing. Just leave that little system alone and they won't annihilate you and everything you've ever loved! Easy.
Lookin a little pale there, your Majesty. You need to lay down?
(And to think, all this... because Pariah's Castle got into a literal land war with other castles over who gets the New King.)
(Accusations of being a Greedy Bitch were thrown. Suggestions to Get Good and stop being A Loser Crybaby were offered. Somehow, there were cannons? Danny is still unclear but has been told under NO circumstances is he to step foot in ANY ghost building until mediators can be brought in. It could be seen as declaring a preference.)

Powergirl Should Die - 2
Supergirl, Powergirl, B!D. Kara Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Alex Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Lena Luthor, J'onn J'onzz.
Word Count: 2840.
Part 1
Kara is the sunshine. It irradiates through her skin and you don't think there's a single soul that would be able to deny that. Your sister is always bringing good light wherever she might go. But you-
You were born to rain clouds. Always almost but never enough. Power, yes. But never Super. Even back in Krypton, you were always blessed in her shadow.
And that was fine, for most of your life. You didn’t care to hide away behind her at school. Didn’t care that when she moved to National City, you had to follow her too. But then she got you inside a skin tight suit, gave you a superhero name, and that was a little too much for you to bear.
Because now you are sleep deprived, too tired to function properly. Haven't rested a bit in days. Patrolling the city, watching everyone's step, listening to every heartbeat and shaky breath. Waiting for the worst.
It's not even that you can't rest because you don't have the time, that is only partially true. You have to go to the Museum and work. You haven't let anyone patrol the city ever since you saw that flash of red in Lena's surveillance camera. Even so, you would still have a couple of hours to nap, if only you could. If only you wouldn't wake up drenched in sweat from your nightmares.
All of them are about what's happening right now. You watch from afar seeing her blonde hair and red cape flying behind her while she writes the words that are now rooted in the depths of your mind.
Powergirl should die. Why won't she die already?
"That's enough!" J'onn stops the arguing. His deep commanding voice is enough to make everyone shut up, including both of your sisters that had been yelling at you until a minute ago. "You are in a government space and some of you are public figures. I expect at least a little bit of decorum, and if that's not possible then the three of you should go talk somewhere private. Preferably at home."
"Fine by me." Kara says, hardening her jaw. "We're all going home." She speaks almost out of greeted teeth, only one eye blinks, so laser focus on you, it sends shivers down your spine.
She picks Alex up, ready to fly away, but looks back at you before she does so, almost daring. You don't want to go home with them. All the previous yelling already made clear what their point was. You are getting obsessed with this 'Powergirl should die' thing. You're getting fixated, absorbed, borderline manomaniacal about it. Throwing blame around, wary of the people who are there to help you, snapping at your own flesh and blood.
Yeah, yeah. No shit.
"Y/N, would you stay behind for a second?" J'onn says, and Kara furrows her brows at him. "She'll catch you in a moment, Kara. You and Alex can go."
"Alright." Kara leaves, but it is clear it wasn't ok by the way she said that.
He starts walking and you follow him silently throughout the corridors of the DEO, and only stops in front of a lead covered room. "For privacy." He explains, pointing inside and you agree with your head walking in. "Would you like to tell me what the problem is?"
"Besides someone wanting me dead?" You snap. You can't really control how you sound right now, even though you wish you could. You're tired, scared, and suspicious of the very one person you should rely on the most. That makes everyone around you untrustworthy by default.
J'onn agrees with his head. And you bite the inside of your mouth to keep you from spilling the truth.
"Seems enough of a reason to me."
"You think Kara wrote it." He explains it further, saying what you've been thinking. At least someone had the courage to say it out loud. You sigh, looking down.
It's wrong. Thinking your sister is the one writing all these terrible things about you. But what else would you think? It’s the only lead you have. The only one you need.
"It's a pretty big accusation."
You can't look him in the eyes. Even though you haven't directly said it, he could read all the messed up thoughts you were having about it. "You didn't say I was wrong."
"I didn't say you were right." J'onn counters, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "You're going to end up doing something you regret if you don't rest. I'm not going to argue you on this, Y/N. This is not a suggestion, it's an order from a superior. I am not giving you a shift tonight, and I hope that means you won't be on duty."
"What if the writing comes up again?"
"Then we clean it."
"What if something more than the writing comes up this time?" You can't help the watery eyes when you say that.
He gives you a long pause, "Then we fight it."
Alright, well. You can't argue with that logic. And you also can’t argue with the fact that you are so tired, you might end up doing something stupid.
So you agree that you won’t patrol tonight, trusting him on this, and leave the DEO. You are well aware that your sisters are waiting for you in Kara’s apartment, ready to tell you what to do. So before you face them, you send Lena a text.
You: Hey! You, me, Love Actually and Thai food tonight?
Lena: Yes, please. All of it sounds perfect ❤️
You smile at her text. Your heart doing a small loop inside you. Alright, now onto the hard part.
You fly in through the window and the second Kara notices your presence, she picks up the conversation from where it was left.
“How long has it been since you've slept?” She asks, crossing her arms and Alex mimics her action right after. They look like two angry parents, and it makes you even more annoyed. They are not your parents. Your parents exploded 20 years before you even stepped foot on this planet, so.
“I don’t know.” You mutter, knowing they wouldn't like the honest answer and having no energy to fight them.
“If you would just let me take over for you, mini me. I could patrol the city tonight. I promise I'll call you the second I see something suspicious and –”
“Yeah, ok.”
“What?” Kara and Alex stare at each other.
“I have direct orders from my superior to stay put. And I also have a date – I mean, a movie date – a movie thing with Lena tonight, so yeah. If you want to patrol the city, you do it.”
“Oh.” They stare at each other again, confused about your approach to this. You’ve been very demanding the past few days about how this is only about you and that no one else should get involved, and just one conversation later, you're quick to give up that control? Sounds weird. But they're not going to fight you on this, since it's exactly what they want. "Great! I'll do the patrolling and you do the date."
"And sleep." Alex adds. "Don't forget you need to sleep."
"Sure thing, mom." You force a smile then fly out of Kara's living room, and go back to work.
It’s a lot later that night when you give Lena the empty container of your already eaten Thai food, and snuggle up on her couch, throwing the blanket over your legs and trying to get as comfortable as possible. “Mmm, just FYI I might fall asleep during the movie.” You warn her. “I haven’t had a good night in a while.”
Lena hums her agreement from the kitchen, but soon she is back to her place next to you. “Something’s been worrying you?”
“I guess. But I don’t wanna bore you with that, it’s not something fun to talk about.” You smile when she gets under the blanket too, body so close her warmth irradiates through her skin.
“You couldn't bore me if you tried, honey.”
“Au contraire, darling. I think everyone at the Museum would say I’m the most boring person alive.” You give her a side smile.
Lena shoots her head up, comically fast. She blinks at you, head clearly going one thousand miles an hour. She is thinking so hard, it's almost loud. You furrow your brows in confusion, while her mouth drops with a 'oh' sound.
"You're ok?" You pat her leg.
There's no verbal answer. Lena's shaky hands make their way to the collar of your shirt and you sit up straighter trying to understand what's happening right now, and trying to predict what's going to happen next.
“Lena?” You question her movements when she undoes the first button of your shirt. You swallow. It's not like you never once imagined this happening, but not like this. Not without love confessions and a whole lot of prior conversation.
“Lena, what are you doing?”
Lena doesn’t answer, doesn’t blink. Hands still shaking, but decisively making their way to the second button.
“Lena, please.” She undoes that one as well. And that's when it hits you. You are always wearing your supersuit attire under your clothes, so it's faster when you have to run out from work and such. Panic shoots through your body as you realize that if she unbuttons one more, she’ll be able to see your supersuit. You hold her hands to stop her. “Lena,” you try to smile even if your mouth is completely dry and your breath is stuck in your lungs. “Darling, shouldn’t you kiss me first, before trying to get me naked?”
Lena finally looks back at your eyes, a smile dangling on her lips to match yours. And then she gives you a smirk. “You’re not naked, though. Are you?”
“Under my clothes? Yeah, I’m naked.” You lie with a fake chuckle.
She untangles her hand from yours, places it behind your neck and brings your face closer. You hold your breath. Widen your eyes. This is happening. It's happening! You and Lena, it's finally happening!
“What’s going on with you tonight?” You stare down at her mouth. “I’m not complaining, I’m just confused.”
And that’s enough of a distraction for her to move her other hand and unbutton one more. Lena looks down at the white of your supersuit and the little bit of gold from the House of El crest. And you? You panic.
"I, um, I can explain." While your heart beats strongly into your ribcage and there's a loud buzz inside your ears. How do you explain yourself?
Lena seems to be inside her own little world while both hands now make all the way down undoing all of your buttons, opening your shirt to have the House of El crest staring at her in all its secrecy.
"I'm sorry." You whisper, one tear rolling down your cheek. Because there's no explanation, really. Nothing you can say for yourself to stop Lena from hating you now.
She finally looks up to you, eyes tearing up as well, mouth agape to her recent discovery. You can see it all playing out in her eyes. She has the most expressive ones. Betrayal and anger, sadness and confusion. And then, a few seconds after two tears drop from her eyes, she raises her eyebrows at you. Eyes widening when something hits her.
"Powergirl should die." Lena whispers, swallowing deep. "Oh my God, Y/N. Someone is trying to kill you."
She launches herself onto you, holding you tight. Her hand entangles on your hair, holding your neck strongly.
"Oh, darling." She whispers, her body even closer now. You feel a kiss being planted on the side of your head, while you seek comfort on her arms, face buried on her neck. "No wonder you've been so careless."
"What?"
"Au contraire, darling? Please, Y/N, I've never heard anyone say that except for you. And Powergirl, apparently."
"Lena." You whine, embarrassed. Can't believe you made it that easy. You guess J'onn was right, you were about to do something stupid from the lack of sleep. "Someone wants me dead." You try to justify, earning a smile from her.
"You really are tired, huh?" She brings you closer again, kisses your temple. "You thought I was trying to get you naked, honey."
"Lenaaaa." You whine harder, face burning red from embarrassment. God, you're such a loser. "Can you please ignore everything I said tonight? I haven't slept an inch in four days."
Lena smiles fondly at you, while she strokes your cheek delicately. She plants a kiss there, then a light one on your lips. It's so soft, it holds no sexual implication. Just pure comfort. "Come on, Powergirl. You need a power nap."
"Oh God." You complain again, but soon Lena hugs you tight, and with your head on her chest, and Love Actually playing in the back, you're fast asleep. You don't even care if the writing shows up all over town tonight. There's no other place you'd rather be.
You wake up from your place on Lena's chest. Sometime last night she laid back on the couch and you curled yourself around her, not ready to let go. It was the first night you haven't had any nightmares.
You hear a few knocks on the balcony door, and you and Lena raise your heads at the same time to the intruder on the other side. Kara. She is smiling and waving, then she widens her eyes and turns around quickly. X-ray vision. You look down to Lena's body under yours, and your leg slotted between hers.
"Oh my God. I'm sorry." You get up in a flash, shirt still hung open with a clear view of your supersuit. "Shit, fuck."
Lena gets up as well, trying to look less disheveled to your sister's eyes. And after you button up your shirt, you finally open the balcony door and clean your throat, so Kara can look back at you.
"Hi!" She tries with the biggest, most awkward smile ever. "Just, um, wanted to say that there's nothing new for me to, um, report?"
You look back at Lena who knows exactly what Kara is talking about, but is looking down pretending she doesn't.
"I didn't mean to interrupt –"
"You didn't." You both are quick to say.
"Oh-kay?" Kara raises her eyebrows, a smile reaching her eyes, and you know exactly what she is insinuating. And sure, you thought the same thing last night, but you're both wrong.
"Can I get a ride?" You ask and Supergirl eagerly agrees. You turn back at Lena. "Thanks for –" You bite your tongue. You don't want to say anything in front of your sister. "Lunch later?"
"Lunch." Lena agrees with her head. And you smile before letting Kara pick you up and fly out of her balcony with you.
When you're out of sight, you untangle yourself and start flying next to her. "So no writing last night, huh?"
"Nope. Not even a kitten to rescue to keep me entertained." Kara grins devilishly at you. "You, on the other hand, was well entertained last night."
"Yeah, well. I slept for the first time in four days and had no nightmares. I'd say I was very entertained."
"Nightmares?" Kara stops flying, and you have to fly back a little, so you can talk face-to-face. "You haven't had nightmares in years."
"That's not true. I've been having them for… I guess, months now?"
"Months?" Kara's eyebrows furrow so hard, her crinkle shows. "When did they start?"
"They're just nightmares, Kara." You argue, annoyed. But she looks at you with an expression you almost couldn’t read. It's a midst of worrisome and distrust.
You furrow your own eyebrows, looking back at her. And then it hits you. The only reason you recognize this look, is because it's how you've been looking at her for the past four days.
"When did they start?" She repeats, strongly this time.
"I don't know." You lie. You know exactly when they started. Right after she gave you a superhero name and your first mission. Ever since, you haven't been able to sleep right.
"Let's make sure you don't have them anymore." Your sister finally breathes out. "Maybe you should try sleeping more times with Lena. It looks like she helps."
Wouldn't she like having you back at no patrolling so she can go back to the new way she found to be passive-aggressive and make you question your every single step?
"I'll pick up some extra shifts and I'm sure J'onn won't mind picking up some as well. That way you can rest your head a little."
You narrow your eyes at her, questioning her intentions. "Why don't you worry about your own enemies, and let me deal with mine?"
She doesn't answer and you're certainly happy you rendered Kara Zor-El speechless for the first time all your life.

One of the most consistent traits of Kara is that she's more angry and hot-headed than Clark. Given you see Clark's own wrath as his big sin, is there a way to keep it distinct from him?
Clark's Wrath is rooted in disappointment. Disappointment in humanity for frequently falling short of what he wants them to be, disappointment in himself for frequently not being able to live up to what humanity wants him to be, disappointment in his friends for being content to waste their gifts on endless Crises and other pointless crap. Disappointment that he can't seem to change the world for the better, permanently reform his Rogues, that the other surviving Kryptonians are often as alienated from him as humanity, that the universe doesn't seem to align at all with the simple morality his Smallville parents taught him.
Tumblr media
Superman's Wrath is born from the realization that it really is a Neverending Battle he has chosen to wage, one that even someone as powerful as him might not be able to win. And even Superman has his bad days in that war, days where his Wrath at the evil of life threatens to overwhelm his hope for a better tomorrow. On those days it's his compassion that sees him through, if he can't seem to make a difference on a planetary scale, then he can at least try and help one person the way Ma and Pa helped him. They made a positive difference in his life - he has to try and make a positive difference in at least one other person's.
Kara's Wrath is rooted in something different: grief.
Tumblr media
Her entire life has been ripped from her. Her father is dead, her mother is dead, her homeworld is destroyed, her city slowly died despite her best efforts. Even her baby cousin Kal-El is something of a stranger to her, too old to be a peer, too human to be Kryptonian. All of that eats at her heart, and she can't help longing to get back all that she's lost. At the same time she can't stop lashing out in anger at the life she's forced to live. Instead of living the life of an El, a noble on one of the most advanced civilizations in the universe, she's stuck living in the shadow of her baby cousin on a galactic backwater that frequently becomes a warzone. Despite her and Kal constantly risking their lives, Earth frequently rejects them both.
Trading the majestic spires of Krypton for the primitive skyscrappers of Earth? Her family, friends, her people, her culture, all lost in exchange for a race of ingrates that frequently spit on her and her cousin? You'd be plenty angry too. Luckily her grief has also enhanced another trait: Supergirl's compassion for outcasts, refugees, people like her who have lost their homes and loved ones. Kara wasn't able to save Argo but she never stopped trying, hammering those lead plates until her hands bled. When it comes to attempting to save who she can, when she can, she'll never stop trying either.

The vague similarities between Katie's Continental character and Doctor Poison had me imagining a Supercorp AU where Kara is raised on Themiscyra instead of Midvale. I'm thinking Clark thinks it's the best place to be raised when she has trouble controlling her strength and Diana offers to take her in to both give her a home and to train her. Kara is mostly happy on the island. It's not Krypton but it's a home that she slowly acclimates to over the years. But she longs to see what lies beyond the island. To see where Kal has made his home. Whenever she hints at wanting to leave the island, she's rebuffed gently. Man's world is not just dangerous but as Amazons are not meant to set foot off the island, she would risk banishment if she left. It's a discussion for another time. An opportune moment when Diana can convince Hippolyta that she should be allowed to leave. "You just need to be a little bit more patient, Kara," Diana assures her during a training session. And Kara is... for a time. Until Diana returns one day with grim news. Clark has been injured. Hurt. Something that they thought impossible. (His weakness to kryptonite isn't common knowledge). He's in a coma. Something that Diana considers keeping from Kara but in the end can't bear to do so. "Lena Luthor," Diana says and hands Kara the remnants of what looks like a spent canister. "She's made many weapons like this... We've been trying to track her down for ages... Her brother has tried assisting in her capture but..." She shakes her head. "I never imagined she would create something capable of hurting Kal."
The attack on Superman makes Hippolyta put her foot down. Kara is not to leave the island until the threat has passed. A decision that Kara can't abide. She doesn't try to hide that she plans to leave the island. To hunt down whoever hurt Kal, knowing that whoever did is a danger to everyone else. "If nothing will dissuade you from your course," Hippolyta says with a heavy heart, knowing she can't waver when Kara has made her declaration to leave in front of so many. "If you set foot off the island, you are to never return." The prospect of leaving another home is enough to give her pause, to consider her options but when she sneaks from her chambers in the dead of night she's surprised to see her armor and her weapons waiting for her. A parting gift from Hippolyta. It doesn't take Kara long to track down a lead. She's made no efforts to hide what she's doing, being reckless in her pursuit only to come back to her modest apartment to a note that tells her they know how to find Lena Luthor. "It's too easy," Diana warns when Kara tells her that someone might have information about Lena. "We've never been able to track her down in all the time we've spent searching for her. Trusting that a stranger might be able to do that..." She shakes her head again. "We need to be cautious. Make sure it's not a trap." "Of course," Kara replies and while she understands Diana's trepidation, she can't help but go alone to the meeting. An abandoned warehouse. She has time to scope out the place, seeing only one person inside, her guard still up. She forces her way through a rusted door to get inside and spots the lone figure standing in a nest of shadows. "You're looking for Lena Luthor?" Barely even a question but Kara answers affirmatively anyway and that's when the figure steps out of the darkness. It's Lena. Kara rushes forward without thinking and has her hand on her throat, lifting her easily. "You!" she seethes and her eyes glow a violent red for only a moment. She expects to see hatred, maybe fear on the woman's face but sees nothing of the sort. If anything, she looks almost relieved at the prospect Kara might unleash all her rage upon her. "I didn't hurt Superman," she whispers hoarsely and a solitary tear rolls down the side of her face and down her mask. "I didn't hurt anybody." Kara knows better than to believe her but she drops her, lets her tumble to the ground. "You did," Kara whispers and reaches for the spent canister that Diana brought to her. "This is yours," she hisses and sees red when Lena nods.
"My research," Lena pleads. "I never wanted to turn it into a weapon. That was my brother's doing..." And it all comes out. Lex's facade as a humanitarian that he has carefully crafted. The one sane Luthor that has tried time and time again to stop his sister's more sinister inclinations have been nothing but smoke and mirrors. Even her mask is nothing more than a prop she's been forced to wear. 'To look the part' "Why do it then?" Kara asks, unsure of whether or not she should believe her. "Why help him, why let him pin all the blame onto you?" And that's when Lena pulls out a polaroid from her back pocket. "If I don't," she says and holds the photo up to the light. "He'll kill my best friend." When Kara leans closer, she sees a man tied to a chair, looking ragged, looking weak but relatively unharmed. "Jack," Lena murmurs. "I want to save him," she says, getting straight to the point. "I want to stop my brother, and I need your help."

So I have this weird headcanon. And it’s definitely not true. And it’s got almost no merit to it. And I still like to think it’s real.
Basically, one or two apparitions show up to every location where there’s been a family tragedy, or if in that tragedy, a mystery hasn’t been solved. One of them is a man in a hat and trenchcoat, shrouded in shadows. The other is a woman in 1940s housewife garb, dress, gloves, and all. She’s always humming, but the song isn’t something anyone could recognize if they heard it. Very rarely will they both be there.
I think you can guess who they are.
They aren’t invisible to regular eyes. People see them. The truly hidden truth is WHY they’re there. Billy and Mary are the only people who know that reason. So whenever they see one or both of their parents in a seemingly normal place, their alarm bells go off. It comes to a point where they disregard all prior evidence and ignore how happy and normal everything looks, because if mom and/or dad is here, something is definitely wrong.
It doesn’t have to be just places on Earth too. Kal sees the shadow man in a picture he finds of past-Krypton, and doesn’t think anything of it. Months later, him and Kara reunite.
Bruce finds old camera footage of THAT alley. The one his parents died in. There’s a woman walking down it, paying no mind to how creepy it really looks. Anyone else would be running to get out, or being as quiet as a mouse, but doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. A year later, Bruce finds the identity of his parents’ killer.
They don’t see the signs. They dont think back on the oddness of these two people because how could they? They don’t know what to look for.
But Billy and Mary know. And they know why. Secrets and lies kept their family apart. It led to CC and Marilyn dying far away from each other. It led to Mary getting amnesia and knowing she had a family, but never knowing how to find them, or if they were even real. It led to Billy living the way he did and suffering through it all.
CC and Marilyn don’t want that to happen to anyone else, so that’s what they do. Places where mysteries aren’t solved and the dead can’t rest until something has been uncovered. They take it upon themselves to make that known, and they trust their children to recognize the signs. It took so long for Clark to find Kara and Bruce to find Joe Chill because they didn’t know.
The Justice League is more than curious about why Billy and Mary always manage to look past all the signs and think there’s something they’re missing. Billy being Billy, he keeps his mouth shut. The twins have never spoken about their parents out loud, afraid they might disappear if they do.
At some point, Batman being Batman, he puts the pieces together. Finds coincidences, the fact that the man in the trenchcoat always comes when a thievery involves magic(CC’s father found the Scorpion trinket, and like his dad, he sees protecting these objects like his responsibility).
Bruce makes the mistake of running at him. Of capturing his hand. Of not letting go.
And he sees it all. The pain of a man’s body being buried beneath soil and earth. Far away from his wife. Not knowing if she’s okay. Scared for his daughter’s life. Praying to every god there is that Billy is safe with his uncle.
The pain is excruciating. He knows he’s dying. He wants so desperately to feel his family in his arms, but they’re all so far away.
There are faces. A kind, lovely woman. A boy. A girl. The woman is on the ground and covered in her own blood. The girl is drugged and kicking and screaming in the backseat of a truck. A boy is kicking and screaming in the backseat of a police car. They are both kicking and screaming and you can hear them and you can’t help.
There’s the feeling where you’re trapped underground. You’re screaming. Your holding in your fear. You’re crying. There’s blood in your mouth. You don’t know where she is is she okay? Are they okay—
Bruce pulls back and his lungs fill with air. The man is gone. He’s never felt so shaken. And he lives in Gotham.
But he recognizes the boy’s face. The face of his coworker.
The next day, Billy passed by him after a meeting.
“You never touch them. That’s the rule.”
I guess I just wanted to dip my toes into the more darker aspect of Captain Marvel. Magic itself has a darker side anyway, so this kinda lines up in my opinion.

Midnight
Tumblr media
"Kara, can you come over to look at something?" Lena asked with clear worry in her voice.
They’d spent the past 6 weeks since the decision having their lunch breaks in the lab, checking daily on the pods. So it was unusual for Lena to call her in the middle of the night, Lena's concerned voice woke her up in a second.
Kara made it to the lab just as the clock struck midnight. She hurried to Lena's side, feeling a shot of anxiety run through her body. In those few milliseconds she already had the worst scenarios run through her mind; did their baby have a terrible mutation? Did they develop a terminal disease? Were they already dead?
Kara swallowed hard as the air around her felt thicker and harder to breathe. "What's wrong?"
"It could be a problem with the machine, I'm just not sure I'm reading it right. Look at this." Lena pointed out to the live ultrasound view on the terminal. They only got it working recently, prioritising it last in favour of more important tests. "It could be the angle, or I don't know, I might be reading it wrong." Lena continued.
Kara studied the screen closely, following Lena's finger as she pointed the anomaly out. The image on the screen was clear, as Kara's eyes grew bigger with the realisation and her smile spread bigger on her lips. "Oh, Rao." Her hand went to cover her mouth in shock as she took a slight step back. Joy and anxiety spread freely in her body.
"So it's-"
"Twins!" Kara exclaimed loudly. "Oh Rao, we're having twins!"
"Dear lord." Lena slammed down on the nearest chair, clearly not as excited as Kara was. "I really hoped I was reading it wrong."
"What? Why? It's great news Lena! Double the excitement!" Kara always wanted a sibling growing up on Krypton, specially she wanted a twin like her mother.
"It's double the trouble. Kara, do you know how hard it is to handle twins? It's two human-Kryptonian hybrids running around causing trouble and refusing to sleep."
"I know, I know, but it's still exciting! They'll have the perfect playmate to play with, someone to always understand them at every stage of their life, someone to confide with when things are tough and the world doesn't make sense."
"I… it's still going to be super difficult."
"Being super is kind of my speciality." Kara said with a smirk.
"Don't play cute with me Supergirl, you know what I mean." Despite the jab she seemed to have calmed down a bit. "I didn't even know that twins were possible to get in the machine to be honest." She added.
"Oh yeah, it is. Twins actually run in my family, I probably should've mentioned that." Kara bit her lip.
"Yes," Lena muttered. "Speaking of sharing important information, I think this is probably a good time to have that talk." Lena said reluctantly as she got up from the chair and gestured for Kara to follow her to the couch.
Kara did and took the seat next to her. She wasn't sure she was ready to confront it yet, to make it real, but then again the image on the screen was very real, and Kara promised to do everything in the world to keep those two little beans safe and sound.
"What should we start with?" Kara cleared her throat, preparing herself mentally and physically for it.
"God, we have so much to talk about. We're going to raise half Kryptonian children together in a few months, there's a lot to cover. We'll probably not get to everything today, but we can start with what we can for today. Like where are we going to live? Are we even going to live together?"
"Of course we'll live together!" Kara quickly responded. "If you want to of course, I wouldn't force you to do anything, I just think that it would be better. For the babies and stuff." Kara cleared her throat again.
"Yes, I think that would be for the best." Lena agreed, her cheeks slightly flashed. "Now, the question is which house. Considering your house doesn't even have one bedroom, I would say it's out of the question. My penthouse has only two and a half extra rooms, which in the long run might be a problem if we wanted to include a home office and a room for each child."
"Right, well, getting a new place is expensive. And I know you have money but this is a responsibility we share, so I want to be able to contribute equally. We're gonna need a really big house with lots of rooms, preferably in the downtown area. That's gonna be really expensive. I am making much better money in my new position, so I can start saving up and might be able to afford something in a year or so if I get a good mortgage."  And cut off some of her food supplies and any fun purchases and so on. It wouldn't be ideal, but it was doable.
"Hmm." Lena's eyebrows furrowed as she pondered their options. "Well, the apartment below me is actually empty for security reasons, we could possibly take over it and connect it to my place. The renovation should be much cheaper and give us more time to save up for if and when we want to get something bigger." Lena was obviously a genius. She never doubted that, but she still felt herself filled up with pride and joy every time Lena made it apparent.
"What about the security measures?"
"We can figure out new ones. Plus we can probably open up a convenient roof entrance for when you need to leave quickly."
"Right. Well, how big are the renovations? Do you know how long they'd be and how much it's going to cost?"
"I'll have to get back to you on both once I settle on a construction company, but I would imagine it would probably take a couple of months." Lena shrugged.
"Okay, so if you need a place to stay, you can stay with me and once it's done we can move in together, as a family." Kara smiled at her excitingly, reaching out to take her hands. Lena's eyes darted immediately to their joined hands, but made no move to take them away. "I assume the place is yours so you don't pay rent."
"Haha no." Lena chuckled.
"Mortgage?" Kara tried.
Lena raised an eyebrow "Kara, need I remind you that I'm an actual billionaire?"
"Yeah, okay. I just feel bad because this is your place, like you paid for all of this."
"And you're gonna help me pay for the renovation to make it ours. Plus, don't worry, we'll have plenty of expenses. We still have a whole lot of shoppings to get done."
Kara's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Not before the three month mark. We want to make sure before we buy." She had a point.
"Yes I know," Kara nodded in disappointment. "I should probably talk to Kal at some point, maybe he and Lois can give us some advice on raising half Kryptonian twins." She suggested.
"Good idea. Although, it's best to talk to them after we tell everyone else, meaning after three months."
"Why does it feel like forever?"
"Eager to become a parent?" Lena teased.
"A bit." Kara answered honestly.
Lena only squeezed her hands in response. They sat together in silence for a moment before Kara made a realisation.
"Oh!" She got up from her seat, startling Lena as she rose.
"What? Kara is everything alright?" Lena asked, concerned.
"I first thought it was some new parts in the machine, but it isn't." Kara felt her eyes getting blurry with tears. "I can hear them." She turned her head to Lena once she reached the pod. "I can hear their little hearts."
Lena walked up to her and interlocked her fingers with Kara once more. "They'll be here soon." Lena promised. Kara put her forehead to Lena's, closing her eyes and focused on the tiny beating sound. "I can't wait to meet them."

Borrowed Time (S1 canon-compliant angsty character study)
Fort Rozz was heavy.
Heavier than Kara anticipated, as she struggled to lift it above her head, as she shot into the sky with shaking arms and panting breaths. Fort Rozz was heavy, and it was the last thing she would ever lift.
She couldn’t cry. Not now. There wasn’t time, with Myriad’s vibrations getting closer and closer to destroying humanity. If she started crying, if she broke her concentration, she wouldn’t be able to complete her mission to throw Fort Rozz into space.  Everyone was counting on her - Alex and Eliza and Winn and James and Cat Grant and all the others that she once cared about and all the people she had never met.
Her muscles ached, and yet she was reaching space so quickly. The air became thinner and thinner until Kara was gasping for air that would never reach her burning lungs. She watched as the edges of her sight narrowed, as her vision began to tunnel from the lack of oxygen. And all she could think about was how she was the last - how Aunt Astra and Uncle Non were dead, how the remaining kryptonians were in stasis on Fort Rozz, how she would share with them the same grave in the expanse of space.
It had always been borrowed time - she was a mistake, an aberration, a fluke to have survived the destruction of her planet. Last daughter of Krypton, they had called her. She supposed Kal would still be the last son, of a culture he never knew. He was a beginning, not an end. Not the last vestige of a dead world. Not like her. Rao, make my journey bright.
There had never been a certainty about afterlife. Her people whispered the words we will remember you in every dawn, and await the night we join you in the sky as though it meant something, and yet she couldn’t be certain if it was literal or not, or if existence in the afterlife would involve any meaningful level of consciousness.
But it didn’t matter - far more important was may Rao protect us, so that we might protect others.
She never set out to be a vigilante. That was Kal’s purpose - until it wasn’t. Until happenstance clawed out at her, and she felt with growing certainty that this was the way to honor the lost. And so it only became the greatest irony of her life that she would have to thrust her remaining kin to their deaths, to save the found family who had given her refuge.
She wondered what death would be like, and baffled at the fact that she would be experiencing it soon, as she finally breached the atmosphere and noted the gentle curvature of the Earth into darkness. She had learned so much about the planet’s customs, learning to camouflage in one of its many cultures. Her traumatized 13-year-old self never imagined that vigilante or martyr could be in her future.
She had dreams. Some that died on Krypton. Some that were born on Earth. She found herself enamored with the thought of disregarding algorithmic mandates, to find a companion by turning oneself over to the whims of fate. She wasn’t the type to imagine a wedding - kryptonian weddings were beautiful, but they weren’t about the consecration of love, and she never grew attached to Earthian wedding customs. But love? She found herself hoping, assuming that there was someone out there for her, waiting on Earth. Now she hoped there wasn't.
She let go of Fort Rozz, her strength finally faltering, as she drifted above the planet that had served as her home. The stars blanketed her, a sense of calm washing over her as she began to slip away. They are safe, she thought, as her eyes slowly drifted shut. Safe.

Y'know, in most continuities, Clark has to explain to Kara what's happened in the last 20+ years, since she wasn't around to see it, but in this show, part of the hook is that Clark doesn't really know anything, which means that she'll be in the dark too.
They might not even piece together that it's been 20+ years at first, or that she's his cousin. After all, they have no commonly remembered events they can both point to and say "this happened X years ago", they're from different planets.
Kara might go for some time without knowing that Krypton was destroyed. Heck, she might spend some time trying to figure out where baby Kal-El is, looking for his ship only to find it's gone, she might only talk to Superman because she recognises him as a fellow Kryptonian and is told he helps people. Then after talking to each other for some time, they could figure out that something went wrong with hibernation and that Clark is the baby she's looking for.
Having Kara be unaware for some time would be a good way to show her being happy before bringing the hammer down on her emotional state. It would also be a good way to explore her relationship with Clark if they don't know they're related at first, she could just be another person he's helping.
It could also be a great source of drama for Clark to say all these things about Kryptonians being invaders to Kara, only to then find out that he's been slandering the dead this whole time. Like, she'll be annoyed at first, but shrug it off because "what does this guy know, he's never even been there", but it will really compound her turmoil once she finds out about Krypton, not only are her people dead, but have been disrespected by one of their only survivors.

Do you have thoughts on how kon would be as a big brother to Chris and Jon? I've read Chris and Jon's comics and I'm writing a thing with them but I want to have their big brother be part of their character/internal problem solving even if he doesn't (as of yet) appear. But I've only read yj and superboy is unfinished/on my tbr so I'm going to the Expert
(If you have any thoughts opinions on Kara's familial relationships you can include those as well)
OOH OOH YES DO I EVER!!!!!
every time i think about kon as a big brother i immediately think of sb94 annual #2, which opens on kon taking a kid flying for his birthday and joking about him being superboy jr., kind of like his little brother. then we move to cadmus, where it turns out the prototypical experiment #1 (whereas kon was #13) has awoken and escaped his containment pod. he fights kon briefly, believing himself to be/wanting to be the "real" superboy, but is injured and collapses in kon's arms afterwards. it turns out he's not stable outside the pod and is dying; despite kon's best efforts to get the cadmus doctors to save him, he only lasts another few minutes. i'm personally never ever getting over kon's face when it happens (right after they both find out their dna donor was paul westfield):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO!! with that being established backstory: i think kon would be soooo excited to be a big brother. he'd talk a big game and want the kids to think he's cool, and of course, he's a mega dork (he'd try to get them both into wendy, and if they didn't like it, he'd be offended). but imo, he's also gonna be so protective of them right off the bat, in large part because of poor clone #1. he's got a lot of feelings about people he's gotta protect, and little siblings are sooo high on that list.
one thing is that i don't think kon really thinks of clark as his dad. of course, it depends on the point in the timeline where you're really introducing chris and jon (because like kon was dead by the point of last son introducing chris, and fitting jon into new earth is always a fun puzzle), but (to be clear this is to an extent my hc also) by the time he's living with the kents, kon no longer wants superman to be his dad. i do think he does at first ("i wish i had parents" in sb94 #85 paired with how reactive he is about shooting down superman being his dad in sb94 #94), but when he moves in with the kents that dies down pretty fast. but he'd way rather the kids call him their big brother than, like, their uncle. that's so uncool (haha see, 'cuz uncle sounds kind of like uncool--aw, whatever)!!! it makes him sound so OLD!!!! he's not an uncle!!!
so overall i think it's like. he's a fun-loving and protective figure. they probably think he's So cool for a while, then get a little older and go oh wait. that's a dorklord. i do think jon throws one hell of a tantrum the day he finds out he's never gonna get ttk even if he grows into all the other kryptonian powers, though.
(i also hc that chris can get some weird funky powers other than ttk, not ttk itself, bc its like... kon is THE ttk guy, and thats a metagene designed to emulate kryptonian powers, so it feels a little weird to take something that specific and give it to another character who doesn't have any of the narrative reasons to need it. someone who knows more abt editorial please do correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure they only gave chris ttk because prior to infinite crisis, the nightwing in new krypton shown to be using ttk was supposed to be kon, and was changed last-minute into chris.)
so like, he'd be a figure they can count on, someone they regard as always in their corner if they yell for him. he'll take the heat if they get in trouble (he spoils them. lois however has a very uncanny ability to tell if kon's taking the blame for something they did). i think as they grow older they might be like ...why's kon our brother but he doesn't live with us? and doesn't call our parents mom and dad? because kon stays with the kents but just hangs out with them all the time, and he calls clark and lois "clark and lois", and understanding that their family isn't nuclear might be a learning curve for them.
as for kara, i'll try and keep it brief bc this is already long i'm so sorry sdkhj but i generally operate in the realm of postcrisis kara, aka linda lang. she's roughly the same age as kon and she's got a Lot of feelings re: new krypton and her own guilt and her duty to her family, as well as whether she as supergirl can really measure up to superman. i love her. i think she would Adore having baby cousins because they mean her family is growing, after all the people she's lost. that said i think it's very possible she's a little awkward with kids because she just doesn't have that much experience with them. but i think she'd teach them to draw, and she'd really earnestly try with both of them. she'd LOVE to teach them about krypton, too.

Listen, listen, I don't think anyone really understands the delicious plot potential of the Zero Day dude NOT being Zod. I have considered it and OH BOY KIDS! Building off my previous headcanon of What Might Have Happened to Krypton.
MAWS!Brainiac is apparently taking the Superman: the Animated Series route in that he was an advanced AI created to pretty much run the planet. MAWS!Brainiac, however, may have wanted more and went rogue, essentially dooming Krypton when it wasn't doomed to begin with.
So, Brainiac builds himself a neat drone body and takes over most of the military fleet and does it very easily because Brainiac software is baked into all the programming. Zod, being the head of the military, leads the offensive with the few ships still available to them. The battle absolutely trashes Krypton. Great big chunks get blown out of the planet and its population, and this goes on for who the hell knows how long. Finally, Brainiac gets his opening to go invade Earth and Zod also sees an opening to hit Brainiac while his back is turned.
Then Krypton explodes.
This is where the plot potential comes in. Jor-El and Zod have traditionally been at odds for having wildly different ideologies. Furthermore, Zod is a hardcore patriot who takes Kryptonian supremacy to jingoistic extremes and puts the continuation of Krypton and the survival of its people above all else. If Jor-El took the Third Option and blew up Krypton himself, this goes against everything Zod believes in. Zod might be willing to sacrifice himself to save Krypton, but he would never sacrifice Krypton to save the rest of the universe.
Which could be exactly what Jor-El did.
The problem is, now Jor-El is dead and Zod can't take revenge on him.
Guess who the next best person is.

here’s some dpxdc fics
since ao3 is down and I thought I’d offer some of the fics I have saved. There’s a long list under the readmore, just ask me what you want and I’ll send it your way. The Jason centric fics have an astrix as requested
Shadow of a Bat - PaperPuffin
Captured by the GIW, Phantom was a mere shadow of the thing (no, person, he had to remember he was a person) that he used to be. He thought he would never be freed from the bright, white lab. Then what seemed like a mass of living shadow swept into the lab and Phantom suddenly, for the first time in a very long time, felt safe.
When Batman swept back out of the seemingly empty lab, he was none the wiser about the eldritch Phantom stowed away in his shadow. At least not until things started seem just slightly off.
*Wait, I'm a what? - Atiya_Blackcharm
Danny would like to say for the record that it was not his fault.
In fact, Danny would say that it was entirely Clockwork's fault. After all, he wouldn't even be in this situation if it wasn't for that cryptic time god.
But what was his fault was the fact that he kept helping.
He kept taking the cash from the assholes (and damn there were a lot of assholes near where he lived) messing with the residents who lived in the area. He kept accepting their offers of food. So because of this new routine that kept him able to afford to rent out his shitty (and possibly illegal) apartment and the hunger pangs sufficiently satisfied, rumors grew.
tldr; after Clockwork dropped of Danny in Gotham he tries to make the best out of the situation which includes helping out some people. Except along the way that led to rumors that he was an up-and-coming crime boss. A rumor he was largely unaware of.
Life's a Painting (and your'e the artist) - Shiningheart_of_ThunderClan
Title is from the song Sanctuary by Paradise Fears.
An encounter with a new student at Gotham Academy has Damien questioning himself in ways he never had before. He seeks advice from one of his brothers.
Ancient Deals - Bewitched_Forest
A long time ago, Ra's Al Ghul made a deal with the dead. In exchange for the secret to the Lazarus Pits, he was to offer up his heir to the Ghost King for an arranged marriage. But, when rebellion leads to Pariah Dark to be captured, the deal goes on unfulfilled. Now, with a new Prince crowned, to become the Ghost King when he is of age, Danny Phantom is left having to accept Ra's half of the bargain. In the form of his grandson, Damian Al Ghul-Wayne.
Probability - halfagone(milkywxy)
Tim might be crushing on his friend, Danny. He wished that was his biggest problem right now.
Amity Park Analog - Shunters
Contains all written works relating to the Amity Park Horrors universe, in which the wider world believes Amity Park to be a fictional town created as the setting for a horror webseries/ARG
Like and Survive: Phantom's Guide to Young Hero Survival - robinasnyder
When the world becomes aware of teenaged superheroes there is an immediate and fierce wave of backlash and controversy. That's where Phantom comes in.
Phantom saved the world from a meteor fifteen years back; an impressive feat back in the day but now that meteors threatening all life on earth is such a common event that hardly anyone thinks about it. Phantom is considered an old timer who deals with a small city and nowhere else. When he begins uploading videos with advice for young heroes, he hopes a few new heroes might avoid some of the pain he went through. He's shocked at just how popular his advice suddenly becomes.
Ectoplasmic Crystals - myheadinthecoudsnotcomingdown
On the run from his parents, Danny has to find a way to block his ectosignature so he can stay hidden. The device he creates sure comes in handy when he's applying to an internship at Wayne Enterprises!
Basically, Kryptonite has an ectosignature and Danny figures out how to block it.
This is based off of the idea that Ectoplasm is the essence of death and a bit is released when a person died. When Krypton was destroyed, there was enough ectoplasm released that it soaked into the debris of the planet. Kryptonians are so affected because those rocks physically and supernaturally remind them of the death of their people and the possibility of their own deaths.
Everyone Dies But There's Still a Happy Ending - Allain_Kelyarus
One second Danny is trying his best to adjust to his new normal of being the Ghost King and the next everyone he’s ever loved is dead. Danny is struggling to mourn and while Frostbite and the others may have been able to help Danny’s body and core heal, they can do nothing for the human heart and mind that’s in shambles. The solution to that comes from Vlad of all people.
The Firstborn Son - Faeriekit
Danny Phantom, a somewhat established ruler of the Ghost Zone, has unwittingly acquired a baby.
And. Well. He can't exactly keep it in Pariah's Keep. He's no parent, not to mention the huge problem of how the air and sky destabilize human cellular structure. It would be convenient to have the baby's other parent take care of it... assuming that the man is entirely innocent of the plan to sell their offspring for immortality. There has to be a way to prove that the man is safer than the home the baby comes from.
...But the man has his own ward.
Hm. Danny can exploit this. What's an assessment without a little test?
Get That Out Of Your Mouth (You don’t know where it’s been!) - HollowedVoid
note: Please do not attempt to eat the kryptonite
Who let a 12 year old fight? - Silver_star_06
The Justice league believes that Phantom is Captain Marvel‘s dad and tells the hero to summon him to help them with Darkseid.
They weren’t expecting the cryptic eldridge being to start hanging around the watch tower.
Danny couldn’t help but feel a kinship with the pre-teen that ended up as the current Captain Marvel. A scrappy black haired and blue eyed child vigilante, that only became one because of circumstance.
Danny was going to help this child whether he wanted it or not.
*A ghost and a vigilante walk into a bar...well actually it's an alley - Sereneabyss
The one in which Danny gets de-aged by Clockwork for some riddle-filled reason he hasn't bothered to decode the meaning of and finds himself on the streets of Gotham as an eleven year old facing an annoyed and Pit Rage filled Jason Todd, alone, homeless adjacent, and oh shit, he has dark hair and blue eyes.
It's not Jason's fault he decided to one up Bruce and become the father he never got!
And it's not Danny's fault his ghost core took one look at this sorta maybe halfa that hasn't formed properly and decided he needed protection!
Aka: That one fic where both Jason and Danny adopt each other and only chaos can ensue from there.
Danny's Guide to Not Dying Alone on the Street - Maxamillian05
After his parents chase him out of the city, Danny finds his way to Gotham to stay out of the eye of the GIW or any other ghost hunters who might be interested in him. After he accidentally shows his powers in a very public setting, can he avoid the ghosts of his past and the ever-increasing number of Gotham Vigilantes interested in him?
*Coffee Creamer from Hell - AshesGleamandGlow & DuskyAshe (AshesGleamandGlow)
Danny gets caught drinking questionable coffee
Amity in the Ghost Zone - GhostBoyBrainRot
What if Amity Park got stuck in the ghost zone after it was teleported? The city doesn't return on its own after Pariah Dark is defeated. Without knowing how to get the whole city back to the living world, Danny tries to evacuate the residents but most Amity Parkers don't really want to leave. Some people do, but many decide to stay. After all, Amity Park is their home, and the idea of having to start over somewhere new isn't very appealing. So the town, for the most part, continues on like normal. In the words of the great philosopher Dr. Ian Malcom "Life, uh, finds a way."
Holding Me Now in Hand - DisillusionedDeku
After Tim Drake tells his family about his new insane chemistry teacher, Dick Grayson decides to do some investigation himself.
What he wasn't expecting was to instantly fall in love with the chaotic science teacher.
Danny had managed to make a new life for himself in this new dimension as a science teacher at Gotham Academy. He had a fulfilling life, teaching the kids of Gotham how to survive on the streets and then at night protecting the bats who roamed the streets. Now, to make things even better, he had somehow caught the attention of Dick Grayson. If Danny had to be honest, his life was going pretty great for him.
Now he just needed the other shoe to drop.
*Wanted Man - Binaberries
Batman calls for all hands on deck, a new meta has been spotted in Gotham. Jason sits back and tries to hold back his laughter.
*Gothams Ghost - moomoo42
Clockwork had found him sitting in the centre of a destroyed chunk of forest, numb after he had raged and offered to take him somewhere new. He had agreed, having nothing else to keep him there and not wanting Vlad to find him. Clockwork had deaged his body to match his ‘ghost age’ explaining that ghosts age slower and aren’t a true adult until they’re one hundred years old, which made him look around three. Then, he sent him into another dimension and gave him a city to protect, Gotham.
or
Danny becomes Gothams ghost and becomes attached to his knights, the bats, especially Jason as Robin, then as Red Hood.
*how do you want me - suomifae
Jason kept going back. Again and again. Because there was nothing else like being wrapped up in his arms. Being held together like at any other moment he would fly apart. And it hurt, like a burn, when he was held just oh so gently. Like he wasn’t covered in blood, like he could be anything other than a monster.
Synthetic Hope - AshesGleamandGlow & DuskyAshe (AshesGleamandGlow)
After a reveal gone wrong, Danny found himself in Gotham, dangerously low on ectoplasm. With no accessible natural sources, he's forced to turn to an unlikely source. Whoever said anti-heroics doesn't pay?
*Phantom's Red Knight - Krismiss_cos
Danny blinks as the man kneels in front of him and gingerly undoes the cuffs that had been digging into his wrists for hours now. Shocked at the gentleness the man had shown not seconds after throwing the world’s greatest detective into a wall, Danny can’t help the feelings of SafeProtectedFriend that bubble up from his core. The anger that had been coming off of the liminal in waves turns into subtle confusion as he sits back on his heels to stare at Danny through the eyes of his blazing red helmet.
Danny is interrupted by a hand appearing on the liminal’s shoulder. He feels every part of his being roil at someone touching something that’s his. His core screams at him as he darts between the man and the owner of the hand. He feels his body change as he faces Superman, legs joining into a tail as his body fades into an inky void. Hands stretch into claws, mouth splitting into a pointed gash, and eyes turning into swirling, glowing pits. Tail gently coiling around his rescuer, keeping him protected and behind Danny
Superman backs away in sweet fear as Danny’s -no, Phantom’s- voice fills with cracking ice and harsh static and he says,
“Don’t touch my knight.”
Off With [the Demon's] Head - halfagone (milkywxy)
As it turns out, Damian is not Talia's firstborn. Not her first child, not her first son. This would not be so horrible if Talia's actual firstborn hadn't been stolen from her as a babe. But he's alive. And he's not alone.
As it turns out, Talia is a grandmother. She takes this news surprisingly well. If only Damian did the same.
*A Piece To Make Me Whole - Emerald_Ashes
Jason Todd has a lot of baggage. It’s something he’s been trying to deal with and manage for a few years now. Yet what’s he supposed to do when a complete stranger of a kid crosses his path in a split-second encounter, and seems to inexplicably give him the answers he was never able to find on his own?
Kidnapping is the first thought that comes to mind. Dick says otherwise.
*Wayward spirits are better together - noisilyscreechingsong
Jason Todd wasn't expecting to find a small child in his apartment, but his protective instincts are brought forth quickly at finding out just how much this little boy has been hurt. Just how much is going on and why does it feel like he's only scratching the surface? All he knows is he would do anything to keep this kid safe, even take on an obscure agency. Hey, it's not like he hasn't done it before.
Family Bonding and other Perilous Pursuits - Shynnohwen
It started with Casper High failing to fail, resulting in winning the Thomas & Martha Wayne contest despite their best efforts not to, causing them to spend the summer as interns in Gotham.
According to Danny, the miserable expirence ended after he spent the whole summer getting kidnapped because the average Gothomite was blind and couldn't tell apart a sixteen from a thirteen year old which went to it's logical extreme of him putting the Joker on life support after the clown stabbed Damian Wayne and his whole class nearly getting adopted by the Red Hood after they somehow took out the Russian mafia.
According to the birth certificate Bruce found, this was still very much the beginning and why oh why did he always get surprise relationships?! And no he was not panicking, shut up dear children.
The only one not freaking out is Damian who is eager to finally have a blood family member(s?) he doesn't have to worry about trying to kill him or usurp his place as the blood son.
*Here's To Us -  jellyfishnervoussystem
“Although you get used to it. It being Gotham and all. You’re not from around here, are you?”
“Ah no, you caught me” Danny said, putting his hands up in mock surrender. “What gave it away?”
“The accent mostly. You don’t sound Gotham. You don’t even sound like you're from Jersey.”
Or Alternatively, two neighbors have a late night conversation on a roof and it leads to something more.
Gamble your life away - Half_DeadSerious
Danny just wants a moment of peace. Really, he started this Casino awhile back to let his Rogues Gallery waste time and energy gambling instead of property damage.
It’s not his fault the Casino became a bit of a safe place!
(Honestly speaking, Danny prefers it over his/Pariah’s old keep. That place is creepy.)
So… Why are there there grown cosplayers demanding him to get his boss? He is the boss. He practically lives here anymore.
What a bunch of Karens.
*Our Empty Graves - suomifae
They say that Red Hood has a loyal mutt. The man rules his territory in Crime Alley with an iron fist and a guard dog at his side. They say that Hood calls him Fetch, sometimes Fetcher. No one's ever heard him speak. Anyone who's ever seen him says he looks like an experiment gone wrong, that Hood picked him up somewhere unspeakable. They say he'll do anything Red Hood asks of him and he'll do it well. That he's strong and fast and probably inhuman. The girls say he's sweet, quiet but charming in his own way. Rival gangs say he's vicious, that he'd sooner rip your throat out than let you go. Jason just wants to help him.
Robin's Egg - Calix
While out on nightly patrol, Robin finds a very injured Danny Phantom who is about to be forced back into his core. Now that the ghost boy is entirely defenseless, how is Damien going to protect the core from others? And even harder... how is going to keep Phantom's existence unknown to his family?
Resurrected? - Playedcrowd5610
The team is on a routine mission when Phantom gets blasted by one of the goons wielding experimental tech. Unable to keep his ghost form intact he transforms back into his human form. Causing the rest of his teammates to think the beam had somehow brought him back to life!
The team starts to try to protect Danny and make sure he doesn't die again, always checking around every corner for a possible threat. How long will he last?
A King in Ghostling’s Clothing - TorScrawls
A frighteningly strong ghost appears in Justice League's midst and they find themselves powerless to fight back. Just when they think all hope is lost, something even worse shows up.
(Danny might have forgotten to tell them that he is the Ghost King and that the job comes with certain eldritch "perks")
Justice League - Seasilver
Shenanigans occur when the justice league meet King Phantom
Danny Phantom & the DCU - Ocearna
A collection of Danny Phantom and DC universe crossover one shots. Set in the same universe, but I intend to write them so they can be read standalone if you like.
that time it was deadman's fault - Ocearna
"Oh, nope. No, nope, no way," Deadman protests, floating up into a corner with his hands up and a stressed look on his face. "I am not going anywhere near those idiots."
John can feel his eyebrow rising at the ghost's reaction.
"Why not?" Batman asked.
"Because that," Deadman explains with a dramatic gesture, "is Infinite Realms business."
Danny What The Fuck?? - FanFiction_Artist_Prototype
Phantom is almost comically overpowered compared to the Justice League on account of not only being a boy king of an alternate dimension, but also because he fought creatures from said alternate dimension and whilst Constantine did that too -on a rather unfortunately regular basis- he didn't fight Darkside level threats on his own at fourteen years of age.
Hence how overpowered Phantom was.
But he was also still a boy, which might be how Constantine found himself looking down the barrel of a gun.
The Grayson kids - NerdofSpades
Danny and Dick are twin brothers. Things happen. It's fine. The Team certainly likes him well enough.
The Ghost King's To-Do List - violetmoreviolent
When Danny thought of royalty he used to think of resplendence and indulgence and the delegation of tasks.
Well, that turned out to be a load of crap. Danny now had a laundry list of problems he had to take care of, starting with the leaks of ectoplasm that were draining from the Ghost Zone into the Mortal Realm and that was much too dangerous to be lying around where any old human could be exposed to the soul corrupting biohazard.
(And maybe after he'd hit up that Constantine guy he's gotten complaints from no less than ten of his subjects and had a whole list of other transgressions and alarming notes of interest on. Someone like that couldn't be left to just run around unmonitored not even mentioning that active custody case for his soul that was being duked out in ghost court. Danny's ghost court.)
*Danny Fenton: Dead and Loving It - HyperKid
Danny and Jason meet by chance in a graveyard on Christmas Eve over a certain someone’s grave. Neither expect to ever see the other again, until they run into each other at a coffee shop less than a week later.
And now that they’re both thinking clearly, there’s obviously something wrong.
Concession to Realism - wildimaginingsofhalfbakedideas
Clockwork was not usually the type to meddle. He preferred to watch from afar, monitoring and observing. Unless, of course, something forced his hand. The new Ghost King was a child, one in a very precarious position. It would be far to easy for him to be pushed too far and end up as a danger to the universe. The ghost of time had no choice but to step in.
aka Clockwork sends Danny to a universe where he'll be safe until he can take up the mantle of Ghost King, a dimension far away from the Fentons and other ghost hunters. Danny is less than thrilled, especially when he starts developing a soft spot for some local bats.
*Anima, Animus - ectoentity (IgnotusSomnium)
There is a darkness growing in Gotham. One that is far different from the comfortable shadows and familiar fiends that the Bat-family is used to. It is preying on their people and making life even more dangerous than usual. They need an expert to find out what is happening to their city.
Halfway across the country, ghostly hero Danny Fenton is having dreams that belong to someone else: his long-lost brother Jason Todd.
*Unearthed, Reborn - QueenOfTheQuill
24-year-old Danny isn't sure what, exactly, is going on when he stumbles on newly-formed halfa Jay in the Ghost Zone. Unfortunately, Jay can't really remember enough to give him any hints. Oh well, who needs to know their past anyway? This is Gotham; no one cares about your past here.
Besides, Jay just got adopted by the weirdest trio of people he's ever met, so he's got more important things to focus on.
*The Ghost King (of Miscommunication) - ObsidianSnake
100 years after his half-death in the portal, Ghost King Danny Phantom is in Gotham checking up on a rumor when he senses a baby halfa struggling to form a core.
He practically football tackles his new son all the way to the Far Frozen.
While Frostbite is managing his health, Danny explains why he brought him here, that he's been ghost adopted, and that he can just let Danny know if he'd prefer to be left alone after he's all healed up (he isn't going to force him to be family if that's not what he wants. Danny isn't Vlad.)
Unfortunately for Danny, human hearing is far more limited than halfa hearing, and Jason's core was not yet mature enough to improve his.
Not enough for him to hear Danny's very important explanation from inside the healing tube, at least.
Jason, feeling very kidnapped, decides to remain mostly quiet and cooperative in order to gain information.
Danny takes this as a sign that Jason is scared about his close call with a health issue and open to being adopted, but too shy to talk about it just yet.
*Don't Leave Me in the Dark - Astra_Nova_Kat
What's Jason supposed to do when he comes home one night to find a crying child with only one arm, and Lazarus Pit green eyes, wiping their own blood up from his apartment floor?
The answer is probably not, "Adopt them.", but, hey, he's never had the best plans and the kid looks like he weighs five pounds soaking wet.
(Danny can't remember how old he is - he remembers being sixteen, but he remembers being six even clearer - just that the last thing in his head is someone rooting around his intestines and telling him he's a fascinating specimen.)
The King's Coffin - RaaorQtpbpdy
When a massive Lazarus Pit is discovered in the arctic, the Justice League races to get there before the League of Assassins. Inside it, they find a peculiar coffin which radiates magical energy.
If You Give a Bat a Burger - Cielle_Noire
Strange things are going on in Gotham: A series of crimes linked only by a sentence uttered. A drug that no one seems to be selling, but lots of people are taking. An old enemy reborn, or someone pretending to be him. Graffiti that can't be photographed by normal means. Bartenders disappearing without a trace. John Constantine is also there.
Danny wants nothing to do with any of it. He just wants to sell burgers and survive. Actually, he'd like to go home again, but since that isn't possible, he'll stick with burgers.
Gotham's vigilante's have other plans.
This is why Danny doesn't do favors.
How to Adopt, The Bruce Wayne Way by Alfred Pennyworth - LokisGhost
Step One, Find a child. Step Two...
How (Not) to Get Adopted by Bruce Wayne: An Incomplete Guide - Evandarya
Danny Fenton has been in foster care for a little over a year, bumped around from family to family, city to city, until he find himself in Gotham.
Which is fine. He doesn't need a family.
But can he convince Bruce Wayne of that?
*Gotham's Youngest Ghost - mimsyborogrove
Somewhere in Gotham, a small child finds themself alone and lost on the streets of Crime Alley. Nearby, a liminally-challenged vigilante has no idea his life is about to be turned upside down. Again.
This is all Clockwork's fault, Danny is sure of it.
close enough to be whole again - hailsatanacab
“If you ever find yourself in danger, go to Bruce Wayne. He will help you.”
His mother had loved him, in her own way. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have helped him escape. If she hadn’t, she would have dragged him back to the League of Assassins, to Grandfather. If she hadn’t, he’d be dead.
She loved him, but she loved the League more.
Jack and Maddie Fenton loved him too, they did, but they loved their work more.
They loved their work more.
--
After his parents react poorly to his reveal, Danny escapes to the only person he thinks can help him - Bruce Wayne. He doesn't know what to expect when he gets there, but it has to be better than where he is, surely? He certainly doesn't expect to be reunited with his long lost twin brother Damian. It's funny how things work out that way.
Who's Old Now? - LiraBuswavi
“Am I your dad!!?” Billy shouted. Danny paused. Took a deep breath in and out before turning to him.
“I’m gonna need you to back up, and explain. Please.”
Or, what happens when a twelve year old masquerading as an adult superhero calls his guardian, an adult who can also turn into a child superhero, on speaker phone, in front of the Justice League.
Bus to Nowhere - foldingfacets
Is it running from your problems if your problems consider you to be a dead imprint of consciousness that killed their son? Yes, but Danny tries not to think about how his nightmares of his parents trying to kill him came true when they found out he was Phantom.
After being on the run from his parents and the government for a couple of months, moving from town to town, Danny ends up in Gotham City and decides to risk staying in Batman's territory. He'd take the wrath of Batman over live vivisection via beloved parents or being studied and torn apart by the government. Besides, he's not a meta. Being dead is a medical condition.
*Adopted By A Ghostling - Omnicrex
Jason Todd takes after Bruce Wayne in an unexpected way by having a small child decide he's their dad now. Of course, it starts out rocky and nerve wrecking because this 6-year-old is a brat, but he can't just ditch a Tiny Meta Child with a possible connection to Lazarus Pits alone to wander the streets of Gotham. Even if the kid wouldn't just follow him back home.
*what was lost, found again - halfagone (milkywxy)
Being half-dead had its perks, apparently. Like finding and saving a teenager trying to dig his way out of his own grave. Yeah. This is Danny's life now. He'll still take it over trying not to get skinned alive by Skulker, though.
A Ghost in Gotham - SassyAngel
Danny hated Vlad with a passion but he also held some sort of respect from him. Their relationship was impossibly complicated, bordering between being mortal enemies and best of allies. There have been times where Vlad was the only person in the entire world that he could relate to, both being half-dead science experiments gone wrong and all that. There have also been times where Danny wanted nothing more than to pummel Vlad’s face in and curse him to high hell.
So when Vlad came to him for a favor, Danny squinted his eyes with high distrust. He had to be civil, since he was Fenton at the moment and his parents were around, but he sure as hell wouldn’t be dropping his guard anytime soon. “Let me get this straight, you want me to join you in your rich people party as your honorary son and plus one?” Danny deadpanned.
“Yes, that’s about it.”
Or...
In which Danny Fenton has to go to Gotham to stop ghost shenanigans from ensuing. Vlad gets a redemption arch because I genuinely think that (at first) if he only got his head out of his ass then he'd be a cool psuedo dad.
A Heart Frozen Shut - Library_of_Cronos
The red-haired sister to the new guard hadn’t seemed interesting to Victor Fries, but she at least kept the room colder the few sessions they previously spent together.
So, what was she apologizing for?
down the rabbit hole (goes the throne) - halfagone (milkywxy)
After defeating an unusual creature, three members of the Justice League find themselves incidentally transported to an unfamiliar realm. There, they receive the help of a teenager by the name of 'Danny'. Only, as they find out, their helper might not be Danny at all. Batman plans to step in, with the aide of his family, to unravel the mystery. And quite the mystery it is.
There's something Wrong with Amity Park, but what does one Danny Fenton have to do with any of it?
As it turns out: everything and nothing.
And that's the least confusing part.

Who's Afraid Of Who? - Omnicrex
Tumblr Prompt from Stealingyourbones: Jazz becomes a criminal psychologist and works for the GCPD and interrogates and cracks even the criminals with the strongest will to spill incriminating evidence and poke holes in their alibi.
Adendum by Mikami1992: Someone gives Jazz the wrong interrogation room number. Now she goes to visit a certain Dr. Crane... The station officers realize the error in the files when visiting the other resource, 1 hour later it's too late. By the time they arrive at the interrogation room, they find...
Dr Jasmine Nightingale became an expert on the mind to help people. That included almost all of Gotham's worst offenders. Dr Crane, aka Scarecrow, is about to find out more first hand.
From Eldritch Horror To Fun Dad - Omnicrex
Tumblr Prompt from p0ssym1lker: Danny being known as terrifying to the justice League and a fun small guy to the young Justice League
*Life After Death Support - Notrus
Danny is figuring out this super hero thing one step at a time and with so many heroes around, surely someone would be open to having a ghostly apprentice - or at least show him the ropes. But maybe what he's really looking for is someone to relate to and maybe Red Hood isn't the safest choice, but there's very credible rumors that he's died before...
Jason just wants to lock this wannabe vigilante in one of his safehouses and make sure nothing finishes the job of killing him. But maybe a snarky teenager that deals with his own death way better than he did is just what he was missing...
Dead by Starlight - BulletToTheThighAndAss
Damian Wayne gets along well with his siblings (at least, better than anyone was expecting a half-feral assassin prince to get along with anyone). This may be because he once had a brother. Potentially.
OR: Damian Wayne has a dead big brother. He didn't really see the point in telling anyone until Danyal Al Ghul (or is it Danny Fenton?) supposedly comes back from the dead.
But I Want to Be Let In, Not Out - TheWritingOwl
Growing up with the Fentons, Danny resigned himself to the fact that he would never see Damian again. However, when he gets summoned to Gotham after becoming the Ghost King, he finds himself reuniting with his long lost twin.
The Wayne's Invisible Eldritch Friend - Half-dead Ham (Grima101)
Danny's experiences with the Wayne family and the various characters they're connected with and vice versa.
*Let Me Have My Vengeance (It's the Only Salve that Saves) - SagaDuWyrm
To summon the High King of the Dead, you must make a sacrifice of heroes blood. Unfortunately, what counts as a hero is entirely up to the Ghost King himself, requiring enterprising cultists to capture multiple heroes and test out all of them. The most controversial of these heroes is the Red Hood, Avenger and Guardian of Crime Alley.
Long Lost Love (Holds On to Me Tight) - SagaDuWyrm
Prompt is from @keimiwolf on Tumblr:
"Damian Al Ghul know his brother is dead. So when a cult summons the ghost king, Damien Wayne is not expecting to see a familiar face."
Taking Flight - Eternal_Phantom
Danny decides to tell his parents the truth. It doesn't go so hot. Fleeing Amity Park for his life he decides Gotham is the best place to fall through the cracks. Sadly as a black-haired blue-eyed teen with a strong sense of morality the adoption papers were half filled out.
Unfortunately for Bruce, Danny has a thing about rich guys with secret identities who want to adopt him.
Joke Conspiracy - Autophile
The world works very hard to make the amount of humans who know Dannys is Phantom larger.
Danny at seventeen has a PhD on Hiding a Secret Identity.
Or: inspired by that one scene in every Danny/Batman crossover were the Bats confront Danny with his secret identity.
Rooftops - NerdofSpades
They left Amity Park behind. Danny never expected to see a familiar face while racing across the rooftops of Gotham.
Life Assurance - animal_luver8153
Danny has inherited all contracts made with Pariah Dark but doesn’t know it until he finds himself pulling a bullet out of Bruce Wayne.
<>
In which Danny now has to negotiate with a old man over a life assurance policy he purchased.
Finding Bones, Finding Ghosts - TheWritingOwl
As prince of the Infinite Realms and future master of Space, Danny knows that he must master the art of making portals. To be able to step through a tear in reality of his own creation and appear wherever his heart desires was crucial in his training. Clockwork had sent him to Wulf, a ghost who had long since mastered the creation of portals and was currently hiding from Walker.
No matter how hard he tries, Danny just can't seem to get it. Wulf says that in order to make a portal, Danny needs to channel his deepest desires. He must want for nothing but to reach his destination. However, Danny doesn't have a deepest desire. Everything he could ever need or want is in the Infinite Realms with him. What could he possibly desire so much that he would tear reality to get to it?
But if I Made My Bed, Did I Make the Demons in It? - TheWritingOwl
Of all things, Danny didn't expect needing to get his bio parent's written permission in order to do his duty as the Ghost King. Still, his parents should be fine helping him find this bio parent. After all, it wasn't like he loved them any less.
Wait, sorry, he's actually a WHAT?
When the Stars Don't Look Quite Right - TheWritingOwl
Duke likes to think of himself as a pretty chill guy. With all of the oddities that called Gotham their home, Duke had learned when to look further and when to just let his classmates be.
Of course, when a new kid suddenly joins their class, Duke's first instinct is to leave the kid alone. However, the more he looked at the kid, the more he noticed that something was... wrong with him. Duke didn't know what Danny Fenton was hiding, but now that the kid had piqued his curiosity, he was going to find out.
Whispers at the Door, "Let Us In, Let Us In" - TheWritingOwl
During one of his research binges, Tim stumbles across the work of the deceased Doctors Fenton. While he's not sure he believes in their claims about ghosts and other ecto-beings, he is interested in the portal they managed to create. After begging Bruce to let him go, Tim heads to the abandoned lab of the Fentons, determined to check out this portal for himself. Sure, he has to take Damian with him, but he's not going to let the Demon Brat ruin his chance at checking out some potentially revolutionary tech.
Of course, he didn't expect to get trapped on a floating asteroid in the Ghost Zone with Damian. Surely those papers about the vicious ghosts were exaggerating. Right?
Holding On to the Shovel and Rope - TheWritingOwl
Bruce has seen it all. Aliens, assassins, monsters, future selves. Whatever existed in this world, Bruce probably already had at least two different world-ending disasters fighting over. One of the oddities of the world he'd dealt with the most? Clones.
When he meets a boy that looks oddly like his estranged son, Jason, he immediately has some concerns.
There's Too Many Monsters in the Backyard - TheWritingOwl
Damian was sure his mother would finally be the death of him. As she got ready to deal the final blow, his only comfort was that he would finally be able to be reunited with his brother, Danyal. Of course, fate had other plans.
Danny should have died with his family. On the run from Vlad, he follows his instincts to the last family member he still has left.
Run Away Ghost - ellabellabugz
Danny runs into Nightwing and gets shot.
Danny shares too much when trying to convince Nightwing that he's fine.
Ghost Heights - ellabellabugz
Danny runs into Batman and accidentally slips something up about having trauma,
To cover it up he clings to the lie he's terrified of heights.
It doesn't work that well, seeing as he just fell from a building fearlessly and was perfectly fine teetering on the edge of another building.
*oh lazarus, how did your debts get paid - HollowMashiro
Jason emerges from the Lazarus Pit with whole extra person in tow.
*Ghost Tag Is An Extreme Sport - XysidheQueen
Jason is beginning to question Danny's teaching methods and is feeling distinctly murderous. Extreme laser tag with the unholy bastard child of a gun fair and scrap yard isn't his idea of a good time.
*Growing Pains and Ghost Kings - XysidheQueen
Jason is adjusting to life as a halfa, and Danny has plans to make it easier on him. His idea of a helpful exercise might not fit into what anyone else thinks is a good idea, but he's going to go for it anyways. He's the king, who can tell him he's wrong?
*Rooftop Chili Dogs and Introductions To A New Species - XysidheQueen
Jason struggles to understand what has happened to him. At least he got some chili dogs out of the situation, even if he's not sure if the guy who saved him wants to eat his soul or something. And he might possibly be a lich?
*Fateful Meetings And Casual Resurrections - XysidheQueen
Danny is told by Clockwork to wait in a random graveyard, and lacking anything better to do he obeys. Not that the ghost of time ever really gives him a choice, but hey he likes to pretend he has some modicum of control over his afterlife. Meeting a zombie teenager was not on his 2022 bingo list, nor was saving his (after)life in the process but honestly, he's here for it. Maybe he'll even get a new friend out of it.
*Enshroud - Olive_of_Vanders
Danny didn't mean to kill the clown – whelp...
*Equilibrium - Olive_of_Vanders
Danny was just visiting Gotham, of course someone decided to start shit.
Altruistic - Olive_of_Vanders
He just wanted to open a portal, Wulf was showing him how to – sure, he struggled and wasn't sure what destination to pick, but how did he end up in the "Watchtower"?
Restoration - Olive_of_Vanders
Danny is sick of meetings – Observants hounding him more and more. When he hears about dead rising, he's definitely leaving this meeting to go check it out. Observants be damned!
Contretemps - Olive_of_Vanders
Danny enters a natural portal by accident – it's really not his fault it opened up in front of him! What is this "Got-ham" place anyway?
Inquisitive - Olive_of_Vanders
Damian has a very specific way of dealing with reporters – show them the animals, that usually scares them off.
Danny, however, has seen weirder shit in his lifetime.
Furtive - Olive_of_Vanders
Danny Fenton is on the run – from who, you ask? Madeline and Jack Fenton. However, the fruitloop of every hour decides to help and so Danny lay lows in Gotham.
It didn't even take a month for him to expose himself to a bat.
*love is an open door (you are the door) - violetmoreviolent
Jason Todd's status as a resurrected apparently means that the Ghost King can use him as his personal portal. Apparently the Ghost King is a cute boy Jason's age. Apparently, Jason falls in love at first sight.
This is everyone's problem.
i found him, he's mine now - violetmoreviolent
Damian finds Danny alone in the park waiting for his (imaginary) dog with no parents in sight.
That level of negligence is unacceptable and if he has to be this boy's guardian then so be it.
Double or Nothing - lauraeb5
When Danny runs into the Team on a mission, they are determined to help this broken young hero. Unfortunately, Danny's former captors aren't the only ones interested in him. Can the team protect their newest member? And can Danny finally move on from the tragedy that haunts his every step?
