It's maybe a little bit short of "absolute blast" because it never reaches the full-fun potential of, say, Ocean's 8, probably because of the way the story is approached. We start at the midway point, with interspersed flashbacks - a story method that takes up half the movie; as such, we don't fully come to enjoy the friendship between the 3, because the movie doesn't organically develop that. Instead we are thrown in midway, when their friendship (knowing each other at the start is fine, but it would've been fun to see more of the progression of their friendship once they start the gold smuggling happen in front of our eyes) is essentially just told to us as "see, they're partying together; they're clearly friends". Again, it sorta makes sense with how they've decided to tell this story as a "will they get caught?" and "how will they get away with it?" thriller instead of using that as the backdrop to further explore their interactions. But that method worked for Ocean's 8 more, I think, because they still spent time with our characters interacting, whereas here, instead, there is a lot of time spent on their individual stories, which, again, fine, but really just feels like it is shown to us so that we can see how they all have connections in their life to make the final plan work out.

You know: she's got a brother who is a hacker, and they need a hacker at the end; she's got a sister-in-law who suddenly works at that the hotel they need access to; she is super friendly to a cleaning lady who can help them out at the end; she has a pilot who hits on her whom she can get access from later. Kulbhushan Kharbanda shows up for a brief spell to remind her that people are important, so that later on she can decide to participate instead of walking away.

This is all slightly frustrating mostly because Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti absolutely kill it and I am 100% here for just watching a buddy-buddy movie with them where the smuggling is sorta a backdrop and doesn't have to turn into the overarching revenge story that it does here. I mean, that is an important story too and guys like Mr. Walia definitely deserve the absolute worst, but this movie turning into that in the second half sorta entirely shifts the focus away from what should be it's main story - the coming together of these 3 actresses to give us an awesome buddy story.

He's got a very small role/guest appearance, but Diljit Dosanjh is fun. And Naina, of course, is a great song. As it is told, the underlying arch of the story - as I mention above - with the ass that is Mr. Walia and his actions is 100% necessary to get out there, because these fuckers are ruining life and a disgrace to humanity. But, at the same time, I kinda wish that had been the focus of a different movie and that this movie had kept its focus on the 3 leading ladies who absolutely carry this story to its height.

Also - 'risk it, fake it, steal it' is a really stupid tagline for this movie that really doesn't tell you anything or even really fit the story (fake what?). Next time, lets just do a ZNMD or Dil Chahta Hai type story with these 3. 100% here for that. But, with that said, I'm 100% here for this too. I don't know if they had fun in real life, but it comes across like they did on film (acting, I know), and that makes their interactions a lot of fun to watch.
