What would it be like if you had immersed in a fiction story with your love?

PILE 1

something related to royalty, something like a person who has a high social level at the time falling in love and wanting to cultivate a relationship with a person a little lower down, not necessarily a commoner/commoner, it would be like a king or queen falling in love with a budding knight or a princess (it could even be a queen or another king) but the place they rule is not as well-known and prosperous as the other. a similar energy but at the same time different, it's difficult to explain, but it's as if they were two people with the same opinion but they express themselves in different ways, I see similar personality, both with high walls around them, a love that can have faced many obstacles. but I also see... it's a film that the charming and eternal Heath Ledger made, I believe that many could see this film, as they think that this work is the closest in being portrayed to what their relationship would be like in a fictional couple. The film is called: A Knight's Tale.

Right away, I feel the energy of pride and prejudice and the works of Jane Austen, a person, more specifically a man, being similar to Darcy at the beginning of the film, judgmental, imposing and perhaps even unintentionally, possessing an air of finding himself better or superior to the others in certain things in life, a film that reminds me a lot that it also starred the perfect and beloved Keira Knightley called Atonement, I see the feminine side seeking more empathy from the world and the people around them, even though they are dreamer, she is not afraid to raise her voice and defend some attitude or action that she thinks is right, just like the main characters in the two works I mentioned, I believe that for the end of this story to be happy, both of them would have to find a way to balance their things, the strong personalities they have, and the differences in life.

just look! Unlike the other piles, this one has strong female representation, and could even be a sapphic couple. the protagonist is a queen or a woman who has power in society in some way where everyone fears and respects her, and could even be a witch, an intelligent woman, an elder, it reminds me a lot of a fantasy film called The Secret Of Moonacre where the man he is completely enchanted by the woman he loves, there is a lot of magic in this pile, something mystical even, and for women who love women it would be like the movie “the handmaiden”, where one of the women has power and authority over the others and the other woman too She has a great chance of becoming a respectable woman, but she still needs to follow a path, she is young and can be childish, hasty and immature.

My Year of (Educational) Podcasts

I spent 12,000 minutes this year listening to podcasts according to Spotify. No, I do not listen to alphamale or girlboss or true crime podcasts– I mostly listen to history, philosophy, and literature podcasts i.e. educational podcasts. Here are 12 fun, well-executed podcasts I’d recommend if you’d like to learn more about your favourite (Humanities and Social Sciences) topics.

Betwixt The Sheets: The History of Sex, Scandal & Society. This is a podcast about the history of sex and sexuality. The podcast pays special attention to overlooked aspects of queer history, pop culture, and cultural superstitions. The love life and sex life of historical and artistic figures are also discussed with historians.

Dan Snow's History Hit. This podcasts discusses the most exciting and culturally relevant historical events and figures with expert panel guests. Clears up historical misconceptions and deals with the most interesting topics in an engaging way.

Occult Confessions. This podcast is about the history of the occult, witches, folklore, magicians, and conspiracies. There are discussions of folklore, religious history, and cults. The themes are dark but quite fascinating.

Intelligence Squared. This podcast is centered on cultural and academic debates and deep-dives into polemical topics among top UK experts. I really enjoy their episodes about writers, art, and artists.

The History of Literature. This is about, well, the history of literature i.e. the contexts that created impressive writers, literary movements, and literary works. It also debates and critically discusses classic works.

The Korea File. Y'all know I love kpop and kdramas and by extension, am quite fascinated by Korean culture and society given how much I interact with Korean media. This podcast, produced by a couple of Korean guys, critically explores Korean media, culture, society, and history.

Not Just the Tudors. A fun history podcast that doesn't only cover English Tudor history, but definitely covers a whole damn lot of English Tudor history. Mainly focuses on 13th-17th century global history.

Classical Stuff You Should Know. A podcast about the classical world, the Western Canon, and world philosophy. Discussions of the classics are in conversational layman terms. Topics not restricted to the Graeco-Roman world.

Why Theory. A podcast that uses philosophy and psychological theory to examine culture, history, art and human behavior. Lots of pertinent contemporary social topics are discussed.

Brown History. A podcast about South Asia and "brown" Asian demographics. A wide range of topics, from Pakistani history to the Indian diaspora to Afghan migration to the colonization of India by Great Britain.

Philosophize This!. This podcast covers philosophy, philosophies, and philosophers. I highly recommend listening to the episodes in order as much as possible. Breaks down the complex philosophical ideas using simple terms.

The Thing About Austen. This is a podcast about the world of Jane Austen from the time period to the people to the culture which influenced her big literary hits. Hits that sweet spot between literature and history in a creative way. Recommend for all the Pride and Prejudice (2005) fanatics.

favorite color: green and purple!

favorite game: i haven't played a game in ages but i used to play minecraft a lot when i was a kid. as i got older i was really into call of duty (black ops 3 u will forever be famous to me) and i also really liked the spiderman game!

song stuck in your head: currently listening to i couldn't love you more by sade!

weirdest habit/trait? i bite my nails + have done as long as i can remember. like genuinely gnaw them until there's nothing left. ive tried sooo hard to quit but for some reason i just. can't do it. it's such a subconscious thing i don't even realize i'm doing it. hopefully one day i'll get over it

hobbies: reading, writing, journalling baking, occasionally cooking, listening to music, knitting.

if you could have any job you wish, what would it be? i think i'd like to own a really successful flower shop OR bookshop but make enough that i can hire employees and then on the side i can just study as many things as i'd like. when i was younger my dream was to have multiple phds LMAO

something you're good at: this gave me an existential crisis. NOTHING!!! i'm not very good at anything - unless u count gift giving? i think i have a knack for getting things i know people will like. my siblings tend to come to me to ask what they should get for each other LMAO

something you're bad at: sigh. everything. most recently self-discipline.

something you love: my siblings, books + bookshops, my best friends. tiramisu, poetry, iced caramel lattes, a very specific brand of tea my brother buys, handwritten cards/letters. i could go on for a long time!!

something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: pick any of my favourite books and i'll go on forever. also certain psychological concepts, anything to do with people watching, and me and my friend once spent three hours talking about linguistics

something you hate: mushrooms + people who look down on others.

something you collect: books, seashells, random rocks from different countries

something you forget: i can't think of anything rn!! i tend to be quite meticulous and i make a lot of lists so i don't forget things.

what's your love language? giving - physical touch + gift giving. receiving - word of affirmation and physical touch

favorite movie/show: fav movies - little women (both 1994 + 2019), dead poets' society, tangled, pride and prejudice, 20th century girl. i recently watched we live in time which i loved! fav shows - derry girls, bridgerton (love/hate relationship), record of youth

favorite food: i love my mum’s biryani, my aunt’s pilao and my sister’s lasagna.

favorite animal: cats, elephants, penguins, polar bears

are you musical? not at ALLL lol i can play a couple pieces on the drums (but i haven’t in years so i probably can’t anymore)

what were you like as a child? this question will make me cry LMAOOO. i used to read a LOT. like two books a day. i would get banned from reading instead of electronics or anything else when i was naughty (and then i’d go to the school library during lunches just so i could read there instead). i used to talk a lot more and i used to use lots of big words really casually because i read a lot and my siblings used to make sm fun of me for that so i stopped 😭 and when i was telling a story i used to include every single detail without fail (i still kinda do that 😭). i was also a HUUUGE crybaby and i have five brothers who used to tease the hell out of me!! so obviously i just cried more!!

favorite subject at school? english, history + psychology in that order!

least favorite subject? back when i had to take drama i hated it. i also didn’t like geography. but i dropped both of those by the time i was fourteen, took econ for two years (hated it) and i’ve hated maths since i was little. i had to do further maths for gcses and it was the worst subject ever.

what's your best character trait? i think i’m quite good at being empathetic? idk i always try to assume the best of people + give the benefit of the doubt. and i also would do anything for my friends and siblings.

what's your worst character trait? so many 😭 i can’t discipline myself at all. i’ve also been told that my words come off as really harsh because of my tone even when i’m just joking around. like apparently i always just sound like a hater 😭 also i don’t think i’m the greatest daughter to my parents but that’s neither here nor there

if you could change any detail of your day right now what would it be? i wish i had studied a little more. or wrote a little more. but there’s time still!! we’ll see

if you could travel in time who would you like to meet? van gogh. my mum when she was younger. maybe my younger self (especially around 15. that girl needs a hug.) maybe jane austen or mary oliver. also — my siblings and i are kind of split into two generations. there’s a group of four, a five or six year gap? and then a group of three (which is where i am). i think i’d love to see my older siblings when they were younger, because to me they’ve always been very old and respectable and wise (even though, having gotten to the ages they were then, they were definitely not). but anyway, i think it would be nice to see them younger.

recommend one of your favorite fanfics (spread the love): AHHH where do i begin. lacuna by @eoieopda changed my life and i’ll never forget it. my feet to follow and my heart to hold by @daechwitatamic was just beautiful from start to finish. alta wrote me the most beautiful birthday fic (hanging by a moment by @haologram) and there’s also one of alta’s wips which i’m absolutely obsessed with. rania already knows i’m not normal about catnaps by @wheeboo. user @kkaetnipjeon ‘s whole entire masterlist, but stop thinking about me and the second time couple both live in a corner of my mind always. like real people do by @ylangelegy is also just a thing of beauty. i could go on forever, but anyway i’m very lucky to be alive at the same time as these people and so many others, and be able to read what they write (and for FREE??)

what's the origin of your blog title?

(i also took this to mean url because like, do i ever look at anyone's blog title? no) my first blog was monimonimoon because I liked the moon and moni was a bts related thing that went with it? and monimoon was taken? then when i remade, i wanted to keep the moni as i'd started being called that, and i thought monilogues (monologues) was a kind of fun idea-- I'm not exactly writing monologues here, but idk. the hyphen is because, ofc, monilogues is taken by a blog that's not been updated for 11 years (:

favorite fandoms?

i.......... dk that i have an answer to this one because idc? like i'm not that interested in 'fandom'. i suppose, really, actually, the answer is mcr because that was my first real fandom and i have friends to this day that i met on an mcr forum almost twenty years ago, but like... idk i know that i do technically participate in fandom, but i'm not interested in it as a concept or as any part of my identity (i don't refer to myself as army, or stay, or atiny or anything like that because... i don't care...)

UMMM.... i think it mightve been move to heaven way back in november of 2023 tv show wise im awful with recs but god did i love move to heaven. turns out that friend had been reccing me move to heaven since it came out and i simply closed my ears but i shouldnt have but it was sooo fucking good it might be my top kdrama of all time along with daily dose of sunshine which could be the last show that was recced to me but i asked a friend if i should watch it so really it was my idea if u think abt it. movie wise it mustve been pride and prejudice from jojo after id already watched it twice and hated it but i kind of loved it on the third watch? yay!
