What would it be like if you had immersed in a fiction story with your love?

PILE 1

something related to royalty, something like a person who has a high social level at the time falling in love and wanting to cultivate a relationship with a person a little lower down, not necessarily a commoner/commoner, it would be like a king or queen falling in love with a budding knight or a princess (it could even be a queen or another king) but the place they rule is not as well-known and prosperous as the other. a similar energy but at the same time different, it's difficult to explain, but it's as if they were two people with the same opinion but they express themselves in different ways, I see similar personality, both with high walls around them, a love that can have faced many obstacles. but I also see... it's a film that the charming and eternal Heath Ledger made, I believe that many could see this film, as they think that this work is the closest in being portrayed to what their relationship would be like in a fictional couple. The film is called: A Knight's Tale.

Right away, I feel the energy of pride and prejudice and the works of Jane Austen, a person, more specifically a man, being similar to Darcy at the beginning of the film, judgmental, imposing and perhaps even unintentionally, possessing an air of finding himself better or superior to the others in certain things in life, a film that reminds me a lot that it also starred the perfect and beloved Keira Knightley called Atonement, I see the feminine side seeking more empathy from the world and the people around them, even though they are dreamer, she is not afraid to raise her voice and defend some attitude or action that she thinks is right, just like the main characters in the two works I mentioned, I believe that for the end of this story to be happy, both of them would have to find a way to balance their things, the strong personalities they have, and the differences in life.

just look! Unlike the other piles, this one has strong female representation, and could even be a sapphic couple. the protagonist is a queen or a woman who has power in society in some way where everyone fears and respects her, and could even be a witch, an intelligent woman, an elder, it reminds me a lot of a fantasy film called The Secret Of Moonacre where the man he is completely enchanted by the woman he loves, there is a lot of magic in this pile, something mystical even, and for women who love women it would be like the movie “the handmaiden”, where one of the women has power and authority over the others and the other woman too She has a great chance of becoming a respectable woman, but she still needs to follow a path, she is young and can be childish, hasty and immature.

My Year of (Educational) Podcasts

I spent 12,000 minutes this year listening to podcasts according to Spotify. No, I do not listen to alphamale or girlboss or true crime podcasts– I mostly listen to history, philosophy, and literature podcasts i.e. educational podcasts. Here are 12 fun, well-executed podcasts I’d recommend if you’d like to learn more about your favourite (Humanities and Social Sciences) topics.

Betwixt The Sheets: The History of Sex, Scandal & Society. This is a podcast about the history of sex and sexuality. The podcast pays special attention to overlooked aspects of queer history, pop culture, and cultural superstitions. The love life and sex life of historical and artistic figures are also discussed with historians.

Dan Snow's History Hit. This podcasts discusses the most exciting and culturally relevant historical events and figures with expert panel guests. Clears up historical misconceptions and deals with the most interesting topics in an engaging way.

Occult Confessions. This podcast is about the history of the occult, witches, folklore, magicians, and conspiracies. There are discussions of folklore, religious history, and cults. The themes are dark but quite fascinating.

Intelligence Squared. This podcast is centered on cultural and academic debates and deep-dives into polemical topics among top UK experts. I really enjoy their episodes about writers, art, and artists.

The History of Literature. This is about, well, the history of literature i.e. the contexts that created impressive writers, literary movements, and literary works. It also debates and critically discusses classic works.

The Korea File. Y'all know I love kpop and kdramas and by extension, am quite fascinated by Korean culture and society given how much I interact with Korean media. This podcast, produced by a couple of Korean guys, critically explores Korean media, culture, society, and history.

Not Just the Tudors. A fun history podcast that doesn't only cover English Tudor history, but definitely covers a whole damn lot of English Tudor history. Mainly focuses on 13th-17th century global history.

Classical Stuff You Should Know. A podcast about the classical world, the Western Canon, and world philosophy. Discussions of the classics are in conversational layman terms. Topics not restricted to the Graeco-Roman world.

Why Theory. A podcast that uses philosophy and psychological theory to examine culture, history, art and human behavior. Lots of pertinent contemporary social topics are discussed.

Brown History. A podcast about South Asia and "brown" Asian demographics. A wide range of topics, from Pakistani history to the Indian diaspora to Afghan migration to the colonization of India by Great Britain.

Philosophize This!. This podcast covers philosophy, philosophies, and philosophers. I highly recommend listening to the episodes in order as much as possible. Breaks down the complex philosophical ideas using simple terms.

The Thing About Austen. This is a podcast about the world of Jane Austen from the time period to the people to the culture which influenced her big literary hits. Hits that sweet spot between literature and history in a creative way. Recommend for all the Pride and Prejudice (2005) fanatics.

3. What playlists do you have on your phone?

I’m the worst about playlists… I have like a few big playlists with lots of things in them for certain genres (classical, jazz, kpop, soundtracks, etc) and then an endless amount of playlists with like 3-7 songs on because those are the specific songs that my brain wants to listen to on repeat for 8 hours straight… most recently created playlist has the bbc pride and prejudice theme, and the Emma suite on it… that’s it! and that gets put on loop for hours

4. Do you like cooking or baking more?

on my own? baking. but my dad is reaaaaally into cooking and does a lot of fun fancy things and I was his sous chef growing up a lot and I enjoy that!

21. A song that evokes a good memory?

Mr Blue Sky - ELO … if my family was on a road trip this song would always get played and my dad always aggressively bounces along to it in his seat. Made my brother giggle every time when he was younger and now it’s just a family staple song!

I've been a sci-fi/fantasy reader and writer for most of my life, but have recently developed an interest in contemporary fiction (Emily Henry's People We Meet on Vacation literally changed my life). I'm more than happy to read anything as long as it catches my interest &/or involves some of my favorite tropes: found family, sibling reconciliation, redemption arcs, and corruption arcs.

Why this story?

Over the last 2 years, I've been suffering from intermittent bouts of dizziness and head pressure. Recently, I finally got my diagnosis of vestibular migraine, which has been a relief and given me a lot of clarity. Nonetheless, the harrowing experience of not knowing what was wrong with me and feeling like this long-unexplainable something was ruining every part of my life caused me to start creating stories about it to make it more manageable.

TCOU was originally my response to a friend's challenge to write a contemporary story. I've never written anything contemporary other than fics before, so I thought it would be an exciting project to get me out of my comfort zone. The concept started out as an aroace, chronically ill Pride & Prejudice, but has evolved into something very different. I now think of it as more of a general romance for non-romantics. It's a story about aro and ace people getting to star in their own romance. It's about a chronically ill heroine learning to love herself. It's about people using (but not totally adhering) to societal constraints in order to claw their way to their happy endings.

All the Stars are Faded - it's from the Athrabeth of Tolkien, which is angst-city.

Rain Falling on the Sunshine - completely happy

Once I got a comment on FFN on a story written in screenplay format that this was a great story, it would be a shame if someone reported it

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Chiss smut. I feel completely free writing sex between Arihnda and Thrawn because I dare you to tell me I did it wrong because if you claim to have personal knowledge of sex with Chiss you're a liar. My one attempt at human smut was such a flop I took the story down.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I honestly can't remember whether I have or whether I've just got too many crossover WIPs in my mind. Things like Star Wars | Pride and Prejudice.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. Once a friend of mine posted a story that had an eerily similar premise/story beats to a story I posted the month before, but after showing it to a neutral third party friend who doesn't follow that fandom, she deemed it a "two cakes" situation.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not officially, no. One of the contributors in the Thryce fandom writes in Polish, so I'm assuming they probably at some point put my Thryce stories into Google Translate for Polish.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
