Wouldn’t it be nice if Atiny had something to represent their support. Like how Ateez have their rings, we should have something too (if we want, I’m not saying we should) but it would be nice instead of buying merch and photo cards from them and hanging it up.
Tumblr media
OR EVEN DIFFERENT ONES to represent a certain member or your bias. Like people who bias seonghwa would get a star ring or something. Or if you want, we should be able to get a ring that represents all of them together.
I don’t know. Just a thought.

This is kind of a rant but anyway. I feel really agitated when people make a top kpop dancers video and they put either the performers or they don't put really significant dancers like Leeknow. Like they say his dancing style is boring (???) and that just merely annoys me. Like as a dancer that has tried several styles and finally settled for hip hop, I feel like he's not appreciated as he should by some 'fans'. They don't recognize the fact that he was a DANCE TEACHER for some time and then a PROFESSIONAL DANCER and part of a DANCE CREW. It's pretty baffling since these people are NOT by all means neither experienced nor are they doing their research. Leeknow is the textbook definition of perfect dancer who has incorporated many dance and music genres into his dancing. Just because he doesn't have a outstanding stage presence or he doesn't subtly exaggerate his energy like Hyunjin does, doesn't mean he's not a top dancer. Hyunjin IS an legendary and interesting dancer but so is LEEKNOW. Kpop fans need to realize that. The same thing goes for Felix. Many kpop fans need to understand that Felix is an exceptional member of danceracha that shouldn't only be called 'deep voice guy' or 'sunshine boy'. He's much more than that. He has talent which shouldn't be dismissed by some 'fans'. All members have incredible personalities and top tier music but each member should be recognized for their extraordinary amount of talent.

My own opinion...Let me know if yall agree or not
Tumblr media
Kpop netizens/fans are only this chill about Twice members coming out about dating because the group isn't in their prime anymore. And yall know what I mean when I say that.... for whatever reason, some K-pop fans are obsessed with younger female idols and the infantilizing of idols. If this was twice's "What is love", "Likey", etc... eras, I think these fans will be damn near rioting about these dating news, like how they did when Karina revealed she was dating. (And she technically is considered in her prime, her group as well).
And it could be just said that Once's are a chill fandom, but even seeing how so-so fans reacted to Joy getting with Crush makes me think fans are only this chill bc these girls popularity have gone down and their ages have gone up.

Maybe someone can help me out?
Chat - how would you define what a real „fan“ is?
What should fans do to be acknowledged as fans and not fake fans?

Any Shawol, or other K-Pop fan that has been through something similar, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PROVE THAT YOU ARE A BIG FAN OF A GROUP/IDOL FOR RANDOM STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET! If they don’t believe you or they’re accusing you of something you’re not, do not destroy your self worth just to stay with them.
Better people will come through when you least expect it, and I’m living proof that this exists. I left social media for months due to cyber bullying for being a Blinger (a SHINee fan that is Jonghyun biased) and decided to go to cupsleeve events to find K-Pop fans. By chance, I met two K-Pop fans on the streets of Piccadilly Circus/Oxford Circus that are super into K-Pop and love me for who I am without changing or removing any aspect of my identity. Pretty much, I feel comfortable talking about SHINee and Jonghyun with them without feeling awkward or judged. Everything is two-sided, authentic and this is the first time I ever felt like I wasn’t second priority in a friendship. I met other great Shawols too, but I just had to show my latest win.
If finding friends online isn’t working for you, then you can take a break and find friends elsewhere. Just because we’re living in the 21st century, doesn’t mean EVERYONE is looking for friends online. You got to try and find a place that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. There’s plenty of places that you could find, or you could just be lucky and bumped into the right person at the right time. Just get yourself out there and you could find someone without realising it.
I wish you all good luck on your journey!

Wow. Ok pls indulge me then BPP. What are some features about kpop that attracts the worst sort of or mentally ill people?
***
People who tend to obsess and hyper-fixate. This topic warrants a long-form post but this is quick asks so I’ll mention one aspect and will try to be brief.
Korea in general is an extremely image-conscious society. The fact it’s Korea that’s managed to market 12-step beauty regimens to the whole world, Korea where people gift plastic surgery to their spouses, friends and relatives, where people decide character based on beauty ratios and proximity to youth - is only scratching the surface of just how perversely beauty and youth is seen in Korea.
K-pop takes that obsession with beauty and perfection and amplifies it by orders of magnitude. And the sorts of people this attracts most readily, are people who already struggle with image issues. When you add in competition and parasocial attachment, it becomes a whole other, self-reinforcing and self-sustaining animal.
And we haven’t even touched the parasitic approach to music production.
Personally, I enjoy looking at hot guys and pretty gals, I also love the music created in this space. But for a lot of other people, it goes way beyond that. Cue the perpetual toxicity in this space.

They really tricked yall into thinking streaming is worth celebrating when a single artist can’t even make lunch money without THOUSANDS of streams. It’s garbage. If you cared about the artists and not some narcissistic obsession with numbers you’d buy CD, merch, or concert tickets. Literally do anything else besides mass streaming. Streaming achievements are a joke just for vanity. The sooner we admit this and get back to actually supporting ART and not virality the sooner we’ll see talented artists again.
FUCK STREAMING AND FUCK SPOTIFY. 🖕
If you think this is about a single artist, group or label. It’s not. This is in support of artists.
