One Piece Chapter 1094 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
And we are back again
Another week break has been rough but we're back with our Straw Hats in Egghead
Let's see how it goes
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release
Starting with a Shimotsuki-themed colour spread; Zoro in the middle of course but you have Kozaburo, Koushiro, Kuina on the right, Yasuie, Ushimaru (plus Onimaru) and Ryuma (Zombie and I think regular) to the left. Seems only Toko is left out among the confirmed Shimotsuki
Well that's an ominous title as we pick up right where we left off
Graphical reminder that the Gorosei are above Vegapunk in chain of command
The Mark IIIs have started their assault on the Navy though as the VegaTank 8 sticks to the cloud path with its special wheels
Sanji's lady senses immediately pick up where Bonney is, as he darts into her direction
Vegapunk like 'a lady radar's not real but ok' XD
Bonney is under attack though, with a guy using like a shell Monk's Spade
Bonney been packing heat this whole time?
Gratuitous ass shot in a splits cartwheel while firing a gun
The attack is non-fatal, since it's called 'Near-Death Experience'
A Yohoho in the chat for the navy guy hit with it, he was suddenly bones for a second, and now there's the trauma
Bonney runs right into a Mark III but this one's not on our side
Old Lady Vice Admiral Bluegrass has commandeered this Mark III with her Ride-Ride Fruit, which allows her to command anything like a vehicle
Whoa lady the aging effects are temporary cool it down
Bonney once again stutters at the sight of her father's visage, which allows Sanji though to get the jump in to save her
Shell Spade man's attack is Whack-an-Otter, which I guess means he might have an Otter-based skill or fruit
With Bonney in hand Vegapunk drives to Sanji to make their escape
Back with Luffy vs Kizaru, and both are showing signs of fatigue
Kizaru's doing a lot of dipping out of the fight
The two, Zoro and Lucci then sense something though, the ominous aura felt by Jinbe and the other Vice Admirals
Also Nami, Chopper and Usopp are accounted for tending to Stussy
Saturn makes the order, all Pacifista are to cease
Knowing the chain of command, Atlas confirms that a Gorosei must be here
What the? WHAT IS THIS?
There's literally a summoning circle there!
Why did he need a boat if you just just summon him?
Marines are told that Saturn is coming, but you also have to be a certain rank (Commodore) to witness his arrival, all others must avert their gaze
This ritual circle is making a lot of emissions
I mean, the revision of '5 Elder Planets' makes sense and all but then you gotta use a pentagram to summon them
A non-Commodore didn't listen and gets immediately killed
no seriously WHAT IS THAT?
Saturn's fruit is not of this world, he's for sure an awakened zoan, black fire scarf like Lucci and Kaku wonder if the colour is reflective of alignment, but he's got like spider legs and a ram's horns and fur, also finger claws
My guess is the Ushi Oni, as Naruto fans would know it as the Gyuki aka the Eight Tails, they have toxic breath too
What's interesting for the Ushi Oni is that they do frequent around water, and have been attributed to poisoning water sources, maybe the Gorosei are the devils of which the fruits are named?
The Vegatank is knocked off its course by Kizaru, who barely missed the tank
Luffy's on his popeye energy, but he has to dodge one of Kizaru's laser, turning him into a spinning top again
But he uses the momentum for an ACOC Hook punch called a 'White Star Punch' in scanlations, sending the fist through the head much like he did with Kaido's face
Also some stars popped out for the headache Kizaru's gonna get
That seems to be Luffy's final blow though as he runs out of gas, right as Saturn recognizes him as Nika
I know the spider legs are intimidating but I just can't stop seeing Dr Kureha's trousers, Oda likes those flame legs
The Vegatank 8 is alas the most recent casualty of Egghead, but all its passengers are safe
...if not standing right in front of a towering Gorosei
There's some cold introductions between Saturn and Vegapunk
But Bonney is going straight for the kill, grabbing a sword and plunging it into Saturn's chest
Dialogue implies that the Gorosei must've commanded Kuma's personality wipe, maybe we'll cover what she saw next chapter
It has been 5 weeks since we have seen our wife, our queen, our light of the Revolutionaries, Nico Robin. WHERE ARE YOU HIDING HER ODA?
Well things continue to get more complicated.
We all knew Saturn would have to get involved but I don't think we were expecting a full demon summoning shit to go down. With Luffy exhausted in front of him too it's falling down to Sanji, Bonney and Franky to help him and the Punks escape.
Part of me feels like Kizaru will recover too, you don't see him KO'd after all. I am hoping that Zoro just finishes Lucci quickly after this though because I still don't buy that Lucci's in the Billion beri tier. Jinbe seems to be aware of the threat moreso that Nami, Chopper and Usopp so I wonder if he'll jump into action at all.
But obviously I doubt Bonney's stab has done anything really to Saturn, except probably invoked his rage from 'she's just a little girl' to *Kill Bill Sirens*. But I do very much hope we see that flashback, maybe Kuma will come in to save everyone again, either pawing Saturn away or pawing the Sunny away with the Punks and Crew.
There's still also the threat of Blackbeard there, that would definitely be a fruit he'd want, maybe the Yami Yami no Mi was the fruit of a former Elder Planet? But it could also invite an unlikely alliance. Or the Revolutionaries simply show up? Speed not really on their side though unless Dragon kinda flies there. Caribou gonna jump in an steal the Gorosei, clutch move of the century XD
Many directions things can go, but I very much need to know that Robin's safe and sound.

My Lap > Stupid Office Chair
Older Izumi Koushiro x Non-Binary Reader
Prompt - Sitting in someone's lap
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Get out of my chair”, Koushiro said while glaring at you.
You placed your foot down to stop the chair from spinning. You stopped it so you were facing Koushiro. You looked at a slightly blurry Koushiro, “No, this is fun”, you said before going back to spinning.
Koushiro sighed, he had only left for a few minutes and he came back to you spinning in his chair. Normally Koushiro wouldn’t care, but he needed to work.
And to work he needed to sit in his chair.
The one you were currently spinning around in.
No matter what Koushiro did, he couldn't get you out of his chair. Koushiro looked over to his right, Tentomon and your Digimon were peacefully eating some food that you brought to Koushiro’s office.
You had come to Koushiro’s office a few hours after he did, you had nothing to do. Koushiro thought you wanted help with something or needed a quiet place to study or something like that.
But no, you just wanted to see him.
That’s what you said, “I just wanted to hang out with you, you’ve been busy this past week”. That may have made Koushiro’s heart beat faster.
You hadn’t really done anything since you got here though. You mostly talked with the Digimon, watched TV, or asked Koushiro what he was working on. But now, you were being a little annoying.
“Come on Y/n, I have to work”, Koushiro said. He tried not to make his voice sound as mad as he was. You stopped spinning again, facing Koushiro with a smile on your face. “That’s why you want me to get off?”
You asked, which made Koushiro confused. Yes, that's what Koushiro wanted. Koushiro nodded, and you smirked. You leaned up and grabbed Koushiro’s arm.
Koushiro was about to say something but his words got caught in his throat. You had pulled Koushiro into your lap. He was sitting with his back to your chest and Koushiro could feel your arms wrap around his waist.
Koushiro’s face got red and his heart started beat increased again. You moved yourself up so you were sitting straight, “you know, this isn’t as fun as spinning around but”, you buried your head in Koushiro’s shoulder, “I like it”.
Koushiro squirmed around in your arms. “L-let m-me g-go”, Koushiro stuttered. You turned your head so you were facing Koushiro but your head was still on his shoulder.
“But this is what you wanted right? This is what I want too. I want to stay in your chair and you want to work”, you said. Koushiro looked down at his lap.
Your hands were clasped right in the middle of his lap. Koushiro liked the feeling. He could feel your breath on his shoulder and your heart beat on his back.
Koushiro nodded and looked up at his computer and turned it on, it had fallen asleep during all of this. You smiled and placed a kiss on Koushiro’s shoulder blade.
Which didn’t help his blush.

[AMV] Lost Time Memory by Hikari
In another timeline, earlier on, Koushiro encounters an accident... Taichi tries Taichi's best to help - but can Taichi succeed? (What happens when the 02 Chosen have 'Fallen'; and the Chosen's memories have been wiped back to around the beginning of Tri?) {They're all still "friends" - but do they even know fully what's going on?} Can you figure out the 'mysteries' unfolding? What more is there to 'figure out'?
This is a re-post (for AO3) of an A.M.V. I made some years back. Taichi Yagami and Koushiro Izumi are heavily featured characters; In this specific A.M.V., Meiko Mochizuki also appears. This series of A.M.V.s is an AU spinning off from various canon points up until the Epilogue. Song featured: "Lost Time Memory", by Jin, from the Kagerou Project series. (This work is not a 1:1 direct parody of characters/storyline there, but very inspired!)
This is a "Music Route" version of my other KouTai/Taishiro story, REPEAT?_ and everything as presented in a series of A.M.V.s for this "Music"-based "route" will heavily connect back to that work. (Side ships may also feature. This AMV is Koushiro x Taichi {+x Meiko as side Polyship}.)

Happy headcanon birthday! | Takeru Takaishi 12/12/1991
It's the 12th of December, which means it's smooth Sagittarius-boi Takeru's birthday regarding my own Astrology headcanons!
Takeru isn't easy to write for me, so please bear with me. His tropes -for which I used my own Astrology big three headcanons for the 01 Chosen Children and @earlgreymon's build your own story through Astrology post- weren't the easiest as well, although it was somewhat fitting for our novelist, right? Anyway, I gave the prompt a little spin, you'll see, hehe...
So the mysterious woman Takeru is (obviously) crazy about...? I think it's safest to say to imagine Hikari in the catsuit ;) I guess it became a Takari AU :D
Enjoy the read and all the hoorays for Takeru! Sorry, didn't proofread!
Guess this one became way longer than the first two; Part 1 (Koushiro) Match | Part 2 (Taichi) Not so unrequited
Genre: Unaware pining hehe | AU setting: Superhero (Aquarius Moon) | Tropes/prompt: Miscommunication (Libra Rising) | Wordcount: 1.052 | Rating: K+ | Characters: Takeru Takaishi (and Hikari Yagami..?)

Getting to know you
In the midst of winter the sky turned dark early, the rain making it even darker than usual. People were running through the streets, on their way home after a workday that seemed to be endless.
In that regard, Takeru wasn’t anything different.
It had been a busy day since he had been going from meeting to meeting before fully focusing on the crown of his journalists work. Recently, a new superhero had presented herself in the neighborhood and it was Takeru’s job to get every little fact hiding in the unknown to the surface for the people to read.
Or rather Takeru had made it his job to get the story out, his fingers itching to write all about the intriguing woman with the ringed tail and cat-like suit and ears. For all he knew she was charming, seemed to actually care about everyone and everything. Her eyes a light brown, ones he thought he recognized, but couldn’t place. He would describe her character as highly empathetic, soft and sweet, but with a twist of sassiness seeping through.
Takeru had to smile at that thought, he liked his women like that. Her being a superhero was just a fun and exciting extra.
Once arrived at his apartment, he entered through the door before hanging his signature hat and wet coat right beside the door. He switched on the light in the hallway as a cold breeze met him, making him shiver. His blue eyes quickly noticed the open window. He couldn’t remember leaving the window open after he left his apartment this morning. A frown appeared on his face as he made his way to the window to close it.
Then suddenly a light flicked on and the figure of someone unknown caught his attention. As he turned his head to its left, he found her.
“I-it’s you…”
She raised her eyebrow at him with her lips shaped into a lopsided grin. Her arms were cheekily crossed over her chest. She was provoking him.
“I figured it would be nice to pay you a visit to tell you a thing or two about me in person,” came her teasing voice. Takeru was confused.
“What…”
“I know you are writing about me.”
She was direct, looking him straight in his eyes, her light brown ones meeting his blue ones. Those eyes were talking to him, but he didn’t speak their language. Still he tried to figure her out.
“Ah yes,” he answered after a few moments. “In my defense, I believe the people deserve to know who’s the woman behind the mask and so it’s my duty to—”
“… to figure out my true identity. Yeah yeah, that’s nothing new. Heads up, you’re not the first.”
He was speechless. There she was, the one person he hadn’t talked to yet, the one person this whole story revolved around. And Takeru was speechless, his mind turning blank. She stepped closer to him.
“Aren’t you going to ask how I’ve found you?”
Takeru grinned finding back his composure, mimicking her stance.
“How’d you find me?”
She grinned back. He even thought to see her biting her lip, but he wasn’t sure. Eventually she stepped closer to him, bridging some of the distance between the two of them.
“One of your sources is an acquaintance of mine. Or actually an acquaintance of who I am behind this mask. And a very close one at that.” She winked at him. “He’s known for running his mouth.” She rolled her eyes in a playful manner, probably to the thought of the acquaintance she was thinking of.
Takeru had to swallow for a second. Her body language towards him was sensual, but distanced. She was making small talk, breaking the ice and still she kept a respectable distance to him both verbally and non-verbally. He had no idea what she was trying to tell him, but he felt that she was trying to tell him something.
“Why are you here?” Takeru decided to ask, ignoring her talking about the source and stepping a little closer in her direction. He knew he had to get a little more bold to get her away from the small talk.
She looked down at the gap between them, the distance slowly fading by every step forward each of them was making. Her arms unfolded from across her chest to her sides, her hands placed on her hips showing off her slim build and subtle body curves. Mysteriously sexy, Takeru thought and he couldn’t hide a little smirk.
“Nothing special,” one step closer to him. “Just me wanting to meet you,” another step, “as well as the other way around,” one more.
He figured out she was smaller than he was as she stood only a few inches away. Takeru was sure she could hear his heart beating, tension and excitement filling him up from his toes all the way to the top of his head. He inhaled sharply, then held in his breathe as she placed one of her hands gently on his chest.
“One question. May I ask?”
Takeru nodded exhaling, trying to calm himself down just a tad.
“Are you sure you’re writing this story about me for everyone else to read?”
“If not, then why would I write it at all?” He asked back placing his own hand over hers on his chest, grabbing her wrist and softly pulling it away from him. In the process he could feel her heart beating just as fast as his. She quickly looked down at it, then back up at his face.
“Because to me, Takaishi-kun, you’re having a bit of a miscommunication with yourself.”
He let go of her hand. “I don’t get it.”
“Then let me rephrase,” she purred with her face slowly approaching the side of his, her lips close to his ears. “Are you sure you aren’t writing the story for yourself, because you want to get to know me?”
And with that she swiftly left through the open window, leaving him behind confused, cheeks warm and blushing. Who was she? And why’d she have that impact on him…?
It made him wonder… Maybe she was right and he wasn’t just writing the story for the people. No, he was just getting to know her for himself.

押花の栞
enlightenmonth // [day 13-16] flower or animal managed to write a koura interaction on a koukari event, specifically on the timespan that was supposed to be my birthday, about flower—which happened to be the meaning of my real name. setting: somewhere after 02, except the flashback of course.
___
Somewhere in winter, his mother suddenly announced the arrival of Taichi and Sora in their apartment. Noticing that it was already six in the evening, Koushiro couldn’t help but frown at the somewhat ungodly visiting hours. However, he quickly stopped questioning once he realised that, like any other students in their final year, both of them probably just finished some extra hours of studying at the cram school, which happened to be located near the Izumi’s residence.
Koushiro had opened the door to his room as an invitation, but instead of going in, Taichi flew down the corridor so fast he almost tripped himself before disappearing from their visions.
“Well. As you can probably tell, we—I mean he—come for your toilet,” Sora sighed, somehow a bit embarrassed. She entered Koushiro’s room, immediately scooted closer to the heater. “He would probably tell you that it was because of the cold, but I know for sure it’s because he ate too much spicy ramen for lunch.”
Koushiro muffled a laugh, making his way back to the desk. “Don’t worry. Please make yourself comfortable. Sorry if I can’t talk too much right now. I have to help Miyako-san,and it’s a bit complicated.”
Sora didn’t have to ask; she knew it was definitely about the Digital World stuff. “Oh, don’t mind me. I’m the one who should apologise for interrupting,” she said, still kneeling in front of the heater while rubbing both of her palms. “Please, continue.”
Being the polite one as always, Koushiro gave a slight smile before retreating his sight to the computer. With his back facing Sora, he could only rely on his ears to predict whatever Sora was currently doing. Small steps then led to the sound of turning pages; perhaps she was reviewing the materials for the upcoming mock test.
“Oh, wow.”
A hint of admiration in her tone raised Koushiro’s curiosity and pushed him to spin around. To his surprise, Sora was standing in front of his full-wall, library-like bookshelf. Her hands were holding a book titled Algorithms Unlocked, and Koushrio’s brow once again furrowed—not only because it was such a thick book, but he didn’t know that Sora had an interest in mathematical science.
“This is nice.” But then he found out his assumptions were again incorrect because Sora picked up something from the middle of the page. It was a bookmark with pressed purplish flowers in the middle that—funnily—made Koushiro’s eyes widened.
“Where did you find it?!” He jumped out of his chair—causing Sora to startle and reflectively extend her arms as if she was defending herself, only to make it easier for Koushiro to take the bookmark. “I’ve been searching for this for a long time!”
“Really…?” Sora asked groggily, still feeling the shock of his sudden ‘acrobat’. “I didn’t know you are interested in flowery things. Where did you get it?”
He was about to tell the story straight away before the sense of nostalgia put a halt to his excitement outburst. Koushiro suddenly wasn’t sure if he wanted to share the little tale behind the thing he currently held tightly.
Back when he was still in grade school, Taichi also came to Koushiro’s house pretty often, except his little sister would also tag along on some occasions. At some rare opportunities, Taichi even had the ‘nerve’ to drop Hikari alone in Koushiro’s care because he needed to go to soccer practice and no one was at home to watch her. These were the days that made Koushiro felt a little uneasy because frankly he didn’t know how to interact with her. Hikari was always the one who sat beside Taichi in silence, patiently waiting for her brother to finish playing with his friend. Koushiro never heard about what she liked the best, and his lack of social skill only set the barrier higher.
One day, however, she brought a couple of flowers in her hands.
“I saw some petunias on my way here,” she explained. “My teacher once said we can keep the flowers from being wilted by pressing them between a very thick book.”
She stopped before continuing. “The books in my house aren’t thick enough. Can I borrow yours?”
Koushiro allowed her, although the books in his weren’t exactly his. Most of them were his father’s collection because the room used to be Izumi Masami’s workstation before he turned it into a bedroom for his son. Nevertheless, they decided not to move the shelf because there was no space left in their tiny apartment.
It wasn’t right to let little Hikari picked the book by herself, so Koushiro assisted her by grabbing the first book he considered thick enough. Hikari placed the flowers carefully in the middle of the page, covering them with a sheet of blank paper so the flowers wouldn’t leave a stain, before closing the book tightly.
“Then we have to wait for about a week,” she said. “And we cannot open the book at all before the time runs out.”
Koushiro only nodded and returned the book to the shelf without any intention of pulling it out. In fact, he almost forgot about it because Hikari never came to his house within the next seven days. The moment she showed up in front of his door again was on the ninth day, but this time she came with Taichi, and she brought a paperboard and stationaries like glue and scissors. She took the initiative to pull the book by herself before doing some crafts while the boys were playing the game console.
Just when Taichi won his third round, Koushiro got two taps on his shoulder. The moment he turned around, he was greeted by a bookmark with pressed petunias in its centre.
“This is for you,” Hikari said with her right hand still stretched so Koushiro could observe the thing a little bit closer. “I understand you like books, so this will surely help you to keep track of your readings.”
While Koushiro was taken aback by her small present, Taichi complained in jealousy (“Why don’t you give it to me instead? Is it because you don’t strike me as a bookworm?”). Hikari didn’t faze with his brother’s knack, however, and still held out her arm in the direction of Koushiro as she waited for him to take it.
And when Koushiro decided to take the bookmark, the curve on her lips grew wider before she said gleefully, “Thank you for letting me use your book, Koushiro-san.”
“…it’s a gift.” Smiling faintly, Koushiro decided to settle on a more generic approach to answering Sora’s question. “Someone gave it to me.”
Sora paused for a moment, but then she also smiled with a knowing expression on her face. “Judging from your reaction, it’s from someone important, right?”
Koushiro blinked.
“Don’t worry. I think the one who gave you the bookmark also thought the same,” Sora continued. “Petunia means that your presence is soothing, Koushiro. I believe whenever this person is with you, there is a sense of comforting—which make you precious.”
It was only natural for Sora to know such things. She was a daughter of an ikebana grandmaster, so she might have the fluency of floral language. However, Koushiro wondered if Hikari also shared the same knowledge—she was always full of surprise, after all. Did she really pick the flower because she happened to pass a patch of wild petunia on her way to his house? Or did she deliberately search for this particular species because of the hidden message she tried to send?
The only thing that he knew for sure now was the burning sensation on his cheeks as if he had the ability to mimic the heater where Sora nested earlier.

I have been shipping Takeru and Hikari for years as a romantic couple. They have excellent chemistry.
Sora and Yamato are canon.
Koushiro and Mimi are pretty close I think as of Tri.
But, and this is what I want to talk about,
Should we consider shipping in regards to couples we want to see or couples that are probable to see?
Are we going based off of evidence in the anime or our own spin-offs changing a character into something or someone they are not?
Granted though Takari is not canon I got plenty of evidence for a relationship, but I could not say the same way with Takeru and Miyako or Say Ken Hikari etc etc.
I wonder if any of you feel like you are twisting a character for your own purposes and changing them to an image they are not. Does it haunt you? Does it bother you? Or does it even matter at all so long as you tell a good story?
As fanfiction writers are we all guilty of this sin? Is their varying degrees to changing a character or is it only until they are unrecognizable?
Just some questions that plague a fanfiction writer. Those that try to keep their characters canon to their original designs kudos to you, but many of us will stay in our own delusions willingly even though we know it is after all, a delusion.

Polyester
AO3: here
Characters: Yagami Taichi and Izumi Koushiro (plus Tachikawa Mimi)
Pairing: Taishiro
Words: 800+
Notes: Based off of Conan Grey’s song Heather.
It’s short and perhaps rusty, but I’m still happy I was able to write something. Hope you enkoy :)
“What do you mean you didn’t bring a sweater?” Koushiro was still sitting on the bleachers after Taichi’s match had finished. Taichi wasn’t expecting Koushiro to wait for him, as they had already planned to meet up somewhere else for dinner to celebrate their team’s victory.
“It didn’t occur me it would get cold!”
“It’s December,” Koushiro was already one of the smartest in their group, Taichi should have seen a comment like that one coming. “Here, get this.”
Taichi held the sweater the redhead was giving to him, and for a reason he shivered. He had never seen anyone else with Koushiro’s sweater, he held the polyester close to his nose, making sure Koushiro was looking elsewhere. It smelled just like him.
“What about you?”
“I’m prepared,” he took out a fluffy jacket as he placed his laptop inside his backpack. “Ready?”
Taichi knew he was excessively quiet, and that his friend would start wandering, but he could not stop thinking about the dang sweater he was currently wearing. Koushiro wasn’t the kind of guy to share his clothes with others, something about his allergies, or hygiene, or being overly protective with the clothes he owned because he hated getting new ones. It was so soft…
“Here comes our champion!” Sora shouted as they entered the ramen place, their favorite one. It immediately felt warmer, but Taichi still refused to take the sweater off.
“What took you guys so long? I’m starving!!!” There were only two empty seats, one next to Yamato and one next to Mimi. Taichi’s heart skipped a beat as Koushiro sat next to her and noticed how he immediately blushed at some comment he couldn’t listen.
“Isn’t that Koushiro’s sweater?” Yamato was stating the obvious, Taichi rolled his eyes.
“I didn’t bring anything to cover after the match.”
“Stop mocking him, Yamato. It was sweet of Koushiro to lend you his sweater.” Sora gave him a reassuring smile, but Taichi’s sight began spinning.
“He never lends his clothes to anyone, you know.” Takeru would be the one to make yet another comment, considering he was one of the only people to go clothe shopping with the redhead, apart from his mom.
Taichi sighed, as he took a glance to the other side of the table, to find Mimi and Koushiro in their own bubble. He wished he could join it, or better yet, create one for Koushiro and him alone.
“Are you sure you don’t want to take it? It’s even cooler than it was after the match.” Taichi wanted some time to think, by himself, and that sweater, smelling so much like him, would only make his mind wander places he wasn’t ready to go.
“Why don’t you walk home with us? We’re all heading the same direction, anyway.” Mimi was sweet as she always had been, but for a reason, her mere presence caused an uncomfortable pain in the pit of his stomach.
“I promised my mom I would go get milk for Miko, so it’s fine, really.” He should have looked the other way faster, because after just a few steps, Koushiro had given Mimi his sweater, and who was he kidding, it looked better on her than it could ever look on him. Yes, it was a piece of polyester, 90% to be precise, but it was his.
Takeru was wrong, after all, Koushiro seemed keen to lend his sweaters without any problem. A part of him wanted to believe it was because they were important to him, both him and Mimi, but was there a possibility Koushiro could see him they way he saw him? Without noticing, Taichi had arrived at the very same park where Sora, Koushiro and himself used to play soccer when they were just kids. His parents would often mock him about him and Sora, how they would make a cute couple, and they were right for a bit, readheads were his type.
He sighed, as he hugged himself sitting on an empty bench. It was freezing, but he had to give the sweater back, didn’t he? Was he being naïve for believing Koushiro could ever like him like that? He could see the way he looked at Mimi, not on that precise evening only, but before that, way before that. Ever since she got back from New York, actually.
“Perhaps if she had stayed in New York…”
He was being an idiot, it was Mimi who he was thinking about, one of his best friends, one who did not hesitate to travel half the world to attend his birthday party.
He had felt all kinds of pain beforehand, but none of them were like the one he was feeling now. He wondered if one could die of a heartbreak. Perhaps he was jumping to conclusions, and a part of him wondered what would happen if he came clean to him, would they have a shot?
Perhaps he should call Sora, she knew about those things, her crest was the one of love after all. But then again, that would mean admitting he had feelings for their younger friend. He stood up and decided to actually get some milk before heading home or freezing to death in the park.
“Maybe if I was Mimi,” he thought to himself, as he got lost in the street lights.

My Job Is To Protect, but I Care Too
Older Izumi Koushiro x Non-Binary Reader
Prompt- Bodyguard AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You looked at your wrist watch, 10:20.
Koushiro still hasn’t left his office. His day ended at eight. You sighed. This had been a recurring thing that happened. You had no idea if Koushiro acted like this before you became his bodyguard or if this always happens.
He always stayed late, really late.
You hated it.
Koushiro always over worked himself, till he passed out or till you convinced him to leave. You were worried about Koushiro, not because it was your job to, but because you really did care about him.
You’ve been his bodyguard for about a year. Over that time you’ve learned to care about Koushiro, and you’ve learned about him. Like he cares about his work, his friends, and you.
You worked for someone else before this, they didn’t give a shit about you. Koushiro was much better, kinder, and cuter. You turned around and raised for hand to Koushiro’s offices doors.
“Mr. Izumi? May I come in?” You asked after knocking on the door. You didn’t hear a response so you just opened the door. You peaked inside to see Koushiro sitting at his desk.
You walked in and closed the door. You don’t think you’ll ever get over how Koushiro’s office looked like. It was simple. Not like the others. There weren’t things made of gold everywhere.
You liked it.
“Mr. Izumi”, you said. Trying to get Koushiro’s attention. You started walking closer to his desk, that just made you more concerned. He looked like shit. His hair was all over the place, the bags under his eyes looked darker than the night, his skin was pale.
Once you got to the front of his desk you said his last name again. Nothing. You were starting to get angry. Koushiro needed to take better care of himself.
You slapped your hand on his desk, that got his attention. “Mr. Izumi. Your day ended two and a half hours ago. I suggest that you leave and finish what you are doing tomorrow”, you told Koushiro.
Though Koushiro had stopped typing on his computer, you had a thought that he wasn’t actually listening to you. “I’m fine. I need to finish this”, Koushiro said. You removed your hand from the desk.
Oh Koushiro was stubborn when he wanted to be.
You crossed your arms over your suit. You cared about Koushiro, but you were also tired. You wanted to get home to rest. Your day ended when Koushiro’s did, and you wanted your day to end.
You tried to think about what you could do to get Koushiro to leave. That an idea popped into your head. It might not be the best idea, but it might just work.
You walked over to Koushiro’s side. Koushiro paid no mind to you, just watched his screen. You placed your hand on the top of the back of Koushiro’s office chair. You were lucky that these chairs could spin, you’ll use that to your full advantage.
You spun Koushiro’s chair so he was facing you. Koushiro looked shocked and he was about to say something when you grabbed his tie. Koushiro doesn’t normally wear ties, he wears bowties.
But he had a meeting today so he wore a tie, saying that it makes him look more professional. You pulled on the tie so that Koushiro was lifted a bit off his chair and closer to your face.
Koushiro’s face went red when you did this and he opened his mouth to say something again but you cut him off. “Listen Koushiro. I care about you. You can’t keep working like this”, you gestured to the clock that now read 10:45, “you’ll work yourself to your grave. Now, why don’t we both leave and you can finish this tomorrow”.
You said the entire thing in a low angry voice. But once you were finished, you didn’t move away. You stared at Koushiro’s face. It was lit by the lights that hung about his desk.
The lights shined brightly, the opposite of what it looked like outside. His face was red and his eyes were blown wide. You looked right into Koushiro’s eyes.
Now that you were close you could see his eyes better. Koushiro had glasses, they laid on his desk, next to all of the bottles of tea. You rarely see Koushiro without his glasses, and never this close.
But now that you were seeing them this close, you loved them. They looked like gems this close, you thought about stealing Koushiro’s glasses, but you knew that he needed them.
Dark, like the night, but full of light, in their own way.
They were like whirlpools, you get too close and you can drown in them. You could see that his face was covered in tiny little freckles, stars that covered the sky. You could trace an infinite amount of constellations with Koushiro’s freckles.
You glanced down at his lips.
They were slightly open from shock and red from him biting them, little indents covered his lips. They were a little wet from the biting, but there were cracks.
The cutest thing though, was the blush.
Whenever you got close to Koushiro he blushed. It was normally light, faint, barely noticeable. Now though, it covered his face like the light did. Bright red, it almost made his freckles unnoticeable.
But you loved it.
It reminded you how nervous Koushiro could be, when he talks about his computer stuff he sounds so confident. You loved how nervous you made Koushiro, you were going to use it.
You glanced back up to see Koushiro also looking at your lips. You smirked and moved your lips closer to Koushiro’s. Koushiro closed his eyes and moved closer to you.
You stopped right before your lips touched. You blew on Koushiro’s lips before whispering. “Now why don’t we leave”, you weren’t asking. You let go of Koushiro’s tie and leaned up. “I’ll be waiting for you outside”, you said with a smile before leaving.
Leaving Koushiro with a bright red face.

So I lost the patience and watched Kizuna
! Major spoilers ahead !
Listen, I know I said I will wait until the Blu-Ray comes out, but I was impatient little bitch and I found a working Sample 3 link with English dub, so I said, fuck it! My brother joined me 20 minutes in, lol. Anyways, onto the movie.
I don't really know what to say, Digimon Last Evolution Kizuna was exactly what I expected from the movie of such name, a movie that promotes end of relationship between Digimons and their human partners.
I kinda didn't have my hope up, mostly because I rewatched Adventure & Adventure 02 last week and finally watched Tri, and the whole point of Digimon has always been, no matter what happens, Digimons and their humans will always stick and stay together, I think the quote goes "humans and Digimons forever" (?). I kinda was hyped up though, partly because of art style (it was much better than Tri, less dark and more symmetrical when it comes to faces and bodies, Tri was annoying at times with weird asymmetrical faces; also Yamato!!!! Yamato is so hot and pretty in Kizuna, wtf Toei leave this poor lesbian alone), partly because of Adventure 02 kids (my brother is so annoyed with me, but I'm a huge 02 fan, Wormmon is my baby and I can rewatch 02ep25 anytime, Stigmon's first appearance is fucking iconic).
Adventure 02 kids got much more screentime than I expected, especially Iori/Cody because he is sometimes really put aside. I love how they were staying in touch with Original Six/Eight through Yamato, and how Hikari and Takeru stayed part of their team (Tri lacked this so much, it was so weird to have Hikari and TK not knowing what happened to their friends when they were supposedly a new team/best friends). Also my baby Ken's hair (*le cries*), I miss his long hair. Both my brother and I expected Paildramon to appear near the end, but there were no DNA/Jogress evolutions besides Omegamon/Omnimon.
Yamato was so fucking hot it's unbelievable, he's become top Digi-destined to me, 2D character or not. He was so smart, so persistent, so consistent, so selfless, so cute, itty-bitty blind (those cute glasses that appeared on his face for a mili-moment during him being in uni classroom panel, all of my uwus gone), still has one of the best relationships with Gabumon (he plays harmonica for Gabumon, even after all these years, he keeps Gabumon by his side, and they both tried to find that bad-guy-turned-FBI-agent-guy sneakily, so so cute). Overall, Yamato is a emotionally much more main character than Taich is, probably because emotionally, Taichi was the main character of Tri.
Now onto our second main, Taichi. Honestly, technicall, both Yamato and Taichi are Kizuna's main guys, but emotionally, Yamato left much bigger impact. Taichi was the main character in the beginning, but as the story progressed, I could feel Yamato much better. Still, Taichi isn't left aside (like all other Original Eight kidz/people). He is a struggling university student who has no idea what to do with his life (my brother sorta compared him to me, LMAO). This is very consistent with Tri's Taichi, who is full of self dubts, abstract ideas of future, and melancholy when he thinks about his future self. Toei nicely showed it when they let us know Tai earns for his future by working part-time as a waiter (?) in an automat casino. He is kinda really down all the time when he starts realising he has to make huge choices about the future, even though he has no bloody idea or genuine thought what to do (also his porn stash, LMAO what was that Taichi, who even uses porn magazine after the age of 14).
Thinking back about it now, it's kinda underwhelming with how it actually, emotionally, focuses on the whole "Digimons have to leave their partners" philosophy. Like, it barely shows interactions between humans and Digimons (which Tri did at least, with I think all characters, so I would expect at least some focus on Yamato and Taichi). There were some interactions between Taichi and Agumon, and Yamato and Gabumon at the end, but it just felt uncomplete and unfullifying. Also whole concept is bullshit (did I mention it? Because if I didn't I will, because this whole thing really is). It all started with Tri, which felt like it was produced by random people who watched Adventure & 02 after fifteen years and decided to make their own spin on it, without actual respects for stories and characters Adventure & Adventure 02 were trying to make us feel and understand (though feelings of OOC-ness Tri had at the times were minimal in Kizuna, thank goodness for that).
Then, Kizuna continued it with the concept of "when Digi-destined grow up, their Digimon partners disappear because they are not on the same mental wavelengths anymore" which is the complete opposite of one of like three main Digimon philosophies, "Digimon and Digi-destined, together and forever"; like while I disliked 02 epilogue, it showed us that after all hardships, Digi-destined and their Digimons get their happy endings, together. Both my brother and I (we watched it together) groaned at the whole concept (along with predictive bullshit plot and plotholes).
While I understand the reason behind this (I read some spoilers on here afterwards, to broaden my post-Kizuna horizons), that humans/Digi-destined grow up, and Digimons kinda don't, it still makes me really dissatisfied. Tri showed us in flashes that, when given time spent with their and other humans, Digimons can grow and become mentally wise adults (cue to the cutest scene when Patamon closes his one eye because he understands the tension between Hikari and Takeru, as in, that they like each other and they might need some time "alone"), so Kizuna kinda fucked up all previous Adventure works by telling us everything is in vain, Digimons leave, their connection to humans they had will become meaningless and humans will have to move on. Bullshit plot(hole), but whatever.
The amount of screentime non-Taichi&Yamato characters can be underwhelming, especially if you don't read spoilers like I did. The movie starts with Takeru and Hikari as important as Yamato and Taichi, but as the movie progresses, they just fade in the background. Kinda happens to everyone else except Koushiro/Izzy, who kinda has a really leading role, considering how much screentime Taichi and Yamato have (I feel like wordcount apps will find Yamato&Taichi as my most used words in this rant review), and he is probably third most important role, until he undramatically disappears because of psycho main lady.
Now towards real ranting. I'll try to keep it short because I have no real emotions behind it and I feel some other rants might articulate it better. Anyways, the plot of the whole movie is so goddamn predictable. It starts so weirdly, with Taichi, Hikari and Takeru fighting Parrotmon (what the fuck was that even, btw???). Like, Parrotmon, again? It feels just very reused, and that feeling that doesn't leave even during the credits. Soundtrack—while nice, nostalgic, and very fitting—is also just reused Adventure 01 soundtrack, and it just brings kudos from my memory lane road nostalgia. Deja Vu is the feeling that sticks to your skin and bones, if you like me, watched Adventure 1-3 just before Kizuna, and understand how so many scenes are just reused wanna-be old seasons references.
From two older adults (I honestly thought there will be two goverment agents, again, and mentally groaned) sticking up into Digi-destineds' business like some omni-knows creature, same as agents from Tri, fucked up (female) main antagonist who pretends to be a good guy (lady?) for the sake of gathering intel and trust, who is a complete nutjob (full-time pyscho in Kizuna lady's case) because of the loss of her Digimon partner, to bullshit powered-up Digimon created from human coding (my brother pointed this one to me, and honestly, half of this movie is both Diaboromon movies rehashed/redone in 2020 shine), Omnimon fighting in some weird Digital World room powered-up creature (first Diaboromon movie straight up scene for scene), even that first scene with Parrotmon and this time completely unexplainable appearance of a Digimon in the real world, and Digi-destined having to fight it, and of course, bullshit new unexplained Digi-evolution with new (human???) mega forms of Agumon and Gabumon. All in all, it just feels very forced and all very already seen.
Now onto the less main, even less supporting characters. 02 teens are amazing, considering they have barely any lines and some little fighting moments. I love them, and I'm happy they got this, considering how they were blatantly forgotten in Tri, and how obviously nobody in the production of Tri even cared to hide that. Wormmon and Stigmon are my babies and I'm happy to see them have some screentime.
Original Six/Eight (excluding Taichi and Yamato) are kinda disappointing, though. I read some spoilers, so I knew Sora wouldn't appear much, but damn, even that was much compared to her actual screentime in Kizuna. She is almost as forgotten as 02 kids were in Tri. I get that she is shown to have moved on faster than other Original Eight kids, but still, they didn't even show her losing Piyomon (which did happen, and it was emotionally, overwhelming, in a fucked up sense when you realised Piyomon wasn't by her side). Jou, Mimi, Takeru, and Hikari were shown at the beginning of movie with so much potential screentime, but in the end they mostly were there for the dramatic cliffhangers (I didn't understand at the beginning what happened to Mimi and Jou, and I thought Hikari was murdered and that the FBI agent straight up shot Takeru), during that mini battle scene sometime in the Neverland, and of course, during the end credits. It was kinda really both overwhelming and underwhelming to see them during the credits when they could've had much more moments during the movie (I sorta had some hope because the movie is almost 2 hours long, and usually movies are like 20, 30 minutes long, but even during those one-episode-length movies there is more of main-supporting characters shown).
As mentioned, the ending is bullshit (my brother ended up crying and I had to put Adventure OST on to calm him down), Agumon and Gabumon dying is literally the most senseless thing ever since both Taichi and Yamato love their partners so much, and even among all the adulting and hassles in their lives, they try to make time for their Digimon partners (during their time in the restuarant, Yamato and Taichi literally talk how they don't have time for even their closest friends, hell Hikari even mentions Taichi should give their mother a visit, but Taichi still finds time for Agumon), so in the end both Taichi and Yamato were among the last people to lose their Digimons and I'm really disappointed in this concept, especially how they didn't show Gabumon and Agumon disappearing, Taichi and Yamato deserved explicit goodbyes.
Uh, I don't think I have anything much to add anymore. I read spoilers and some are pretty much novels from how much people put their thoughts in, this is just my ranting review, tbh. I dived into this hoping to get my heart mended from Tri (say what you want about Tri but it was too bad for six hour and half movies, especially general Adventure constistency-wise), but not with high expectations, having seen the trailer and having some spoilers read. All in all film wasn't too bad, but it wasn't too good, solid 6/10 rating from me, mostly for the animation and nostalgic soundtrack, but the whole plot was shit as fuck and the philoshophy behind it.
(Random, but I noticed straight people/shippers liked the movie better than gay people/shippers, is there any correlations between that)
ALL IN ALL, Digimon: Last Evolution Kizuna wasn't the best nor the worst Digimon movie/work, but it probably isn't something I will rewatch or recommend anytime soon (also wtf were those humanoid mega forms, like W T F).

The fantastic adventures of Takeru Takaishi
Chapter 2: Daughter of the revolution
On their way up the hill, Sora reminisced the times when her father took her to play hide-and-seek among the woods. She also remembered the day when she hid in a bush and overheard a group of men approaching Haruhiko. They accused him of having "subversive books" and spreading anti-government propaganda among the good people of Turtle Island. Sora was so scared that she couldn't move. She didn't do anything to stop her father from being taken away.
After her surroundings became quiet, Sora left her hiding spot and ran back to her house. It didn't take long for the little girl to notice smoke rising to the sky. Once she arrived there, she found her house burning.
Sora was about to scream in horror, but she felt a hand cover her mouth and another pull her back to the woods.
"I'm so glad you're safe! I'm so glad!"
Sora recognized her mother's voice. The arms that once restricted her were now hugging the child. The little girl was trembling and it didn't take her long to begin to cry. Toshiko turned her daughter around, so she could face her. The woman's eyes were red; a couple of tear trails were still visible.
"They took Dad! They took him away!" Sora said, among sobs.
"I know," Toshiko muttered.
"Where did they take him?" Sora asked.
New tears formed in the woman's eyes. She didn't say anything. It would take years for Sora to learn that her father was taken by Yamanaka's henchmen and dragged to the living room of her family's house as a way to lure Toshiko and the other revolutionaries to a trap. The henchmen were all armed and largely outnumbered the revolutionaries. It would be a suicide mission to try to rescue Hahuriko. Therefore, their leader decided they shouldn't do it.
Toshiko and the rest of the group survived.
Haruhiko didn't.
For the rest of her life, Sora wished to get justice for her father and revenge against Yamanaka. She cooperated with the revolutionaries but, despite knowing their reasons and understanding that her father wouldn't have wanted to be the cause of their demise, Sora could never forgive the leader of the group for that decision.
Takeru wasn't fond of the silence filling the air as they climbed the hill on the horses. Sora was leading the way, Koushiro and he were in the middle and Yamato was on the back, protecting them. From the way Yamato kept staring at Koushiro's back, Takeru assumed he still considered the stranger a threat.
Since Koushiro was the one closest to him, Takeru decided to start a conversation with that man.
"Tell me, Koushiro, where are you from?"
"I was born on Shrimp Island and lived there until I was 10 years old," Koushiro replied, not looking at Takeru.
"That's pretty close to Turtle Island!" Takeru exclaimed. "I'm not sure why, but you had given me the impression of being from somewhere far away."
"I've travelled all around the world," Koushiro told him. "But I always end up coming back to this place. I like to visit the spot where my parents' house used to be... well, not properly my parents'... the house of the couple who took care of me after..."
Koushiro stopped talking. A sad expression was visible on his face.
Suddenly, Sora stopped her horse and raised one hand, as if giving a signal. Two people carrying shotguns came from both sides of the trail: a woman with purple hair and glasses and a man with spiky dark pink hair. At least, that's what Takeru assumed his hair color to be. The woman had a red and long sleeved shirt over her brown paints; her hair was tied in a ponytail. The man had black pants and a loose blue shirt.
"Daisuke! Miyako! I need to talk to my mother immediately!" Sora told them.
"We're really sorry, Sora, but we can't let strangers into the camp. It's dangerous!" Daisuke said, pointing at Takeru and Koushiro.
"This is my little brother, his name is Takeru," Yamato introduced his brother. "The one with red hair is likely a demon from Hell. You should tie him up."
"A demon?!" Daisuke exclaimed, staring at Koushiro with amazement in his eyes. "Are you an actual demon from Hell? Can you summon Hellfire? Can you eat souls? Are you capable of seeing the future?"
"No, no, no... to tell you the truth, I'm capable of seeing fragments of the future," Koushiro answered, "but that ability is not as useful as it sounds."
"You're a clairvoyant?" Takeru asked, excitedly.
"That kind of thing doesn't exist! It's unscientific! Charlatanism!" Miyako affirmed.
"I'm not a charlatan!" Koushiro stated.
"Don't mind her, Mr. Demon," Daisuke told Koushiro, "she's the local mad scientist and can get a bit carried away sometimes about science."
"Stop shaming me for my love for science, Daisuke!" Miyako shouted. "It's the greatest thing in the world!"
"Enough with this discussion!" Sora raised her voice. "The camp is in great danger! Yamanaka's men are coming to attack us! I must talk to my mother immediately!"
Yamato looked at Sora's trembling body with concern. Despite wanting to comfort her, he knew that interrupting the woman would only make her upset. Meanwhile, Miyako and Daisuke stared at Sora in shock. They didn't remember ever seeing her lose her temper.
"That's not possible!" Miyako stated, after half a minute. "Yamanaka's men don't know where our camp is! They would never find our location, unless someone told them!"
"You can't mean that there's a traitor among us..." Daisuke said.
"I don't know how it's going to happen, but I saw armed men walking up this hill amidst darkness," Koushiro told them. "That's why I warned Miss Sora."
"Why exactly should we believe you, stranger?" Miyako asked. "As far as I can tell, you're nothing more than a charlatan trying to deceive people!"
Koushiro sighed, frustrated.
"Fine, don't believe me! I'm used to that," he said. "Just tie me up already and drag me to the tent where you keep the weird looking mechanical box. I can't wait to see you yelling at the boy with green eyes and short black hair to stop meddling with your invention."
"How do you know all that?" Miyako inquired. Then, a bigger concern took over her mind. "Hold on, Iori is doing what?!"
"I can't waste more time with this!" Sora snapped, making her horse run towards the top of the hill. Yamato followed her on his horse.
"How dramatic!" Takeru murmured to himself. He was about to follow them, but Daisuke pointed the shotgun at him.
"The two of you will have to get down from the horses and let us tie your hands and blindfold you," he said.
"What? But I'm Yamato's brother!" Takeru protested. "Doesn't that make me trustworthy?"
"Well... you're not dressed as someone we could trust," Daisuke told him.
"How dare you? I'm wearing the finest and most expensive clothes you've probably seen in your whole lives!" Takeru was getting exasperated.
"That's precisely the issue!" Miyako was getting angry as well. "Do you understand that we're revolutionaries and you look like someone wealthy?"
"So... does being a revolutionary make you hate people with good taste in clothes?" Takeru asked.
Miyako and Daisuke were left speechless after Takeru's remark, not quite understanding how someone could say something so stupid.
Koushiro got down from the horse and put his hands up. He glanced at Takeru and told him:
"Mr. Takeru, with the due respect, please stop saying things without thinking first."
"W-What are you trying to say?" Takeru asked.
"I think he just called you out for saying something dumb... in a very polite way," Daisuke told him.
Takeru's world was shaken by that affirmation. Dumb? Him? But he was such an educated person! But... what if he was dumb? Had he actually been dumb for his entire life? Did he live a lie for all those years? He felt as if his head was spinning and lost his balance, which made him fall from the horse. Luckily for Takeru, he fell on Koushiro.
Koushiro wasn't very lucky as he was knocked to the ground by Takeru's weight.
"Didn't see that coming, did you, Mr. Psychic Demon?" Miyako mocked.
After that, she and Daisuke proceeded to tie and blindfold the two strangers.
Once Sora arrived at the camp, she jumped from the horse and headed to her mother's tent with large steps. Some revolutionaries, who were sitting on logs and cleaning their weapons, seemed surprised at her sudden arrival, but didn't pay her too much attention.
Yamato arrived right after her. He quickly got down from his horse and ran in Sora's direction.
"Sora, please! What are you going to say to her?" Yamato inquired, putting himself in her front. "You can't expect Leader Toshiko to believe that a demon dug himself out of the dirt and told you about a vision he had! I mean... do we even have any actual reason to believe that guy, anyway?"
"I don't know if he's telling the truth or not, but we can't risk our people's safety!" Sora retorted. "I'm not going to let Yamanaka take anyone away again!"
"Sora, I understand-" Yamato began to say.
"No, you don't! Your whole family is alive, you can't understand!" Sora shouted, pushing him out of her way.
Astonished by her uncharacteristically rude behavior, Yamato was unable to move for a few seconds. Once he recovered, he made his way to the tent in the middle of the camp. Inside it, he found Sora staring down at her mother, who was tending to a flower arrangement on the ground, while kneeling on a pillow. There were several other flower arrangements in the tent, among maps, books and weapons. The woman was wearing dark pants and a white buttoned shirt that gave her an air of elegance.
"You haven't come to see me in a while, Sora. And now, without any warning, you interrupt me while I'm with the flowers..." Toshiko commented.
"There's something more important than your flowers that we must discuss!" Sora told her. "Old man Yamanaka's men are coming to the camp! We have to evacuate!"
Toshiko paled after hearing that. She stood up and approached her daughter. Sora felt uncomfortable under that intense gaze, but didn't look away.
"Who told you that?" Toshiko inquired.
"That's not important!" Sora said.
"The only way for those people to find our location is if there's a traitor among us, which is something I can't bring myself to believe," Toshiko told her. "You'd better give me the source of that information if you expect me to take it seriously."
Sora felt her eyes getting warm and her body trembling. She wasn't surprised that her mother didn't listen to her, but that still hurt.
"Then, you need a reliable source to act to protect the group?" Sora questioned. "If you really cared about anyone, the mere possibility of them being in danger should be enough!"
"Sora, don't disrespect me!" Toshiko scolded her. "I care very deeply about-"
"You didn't even care about Dad!" Sora accused, letting a couple of tears escape her eyes.
Toshiko was taken aback by that. Without uttering a word, she watched as Sora stormed out of the tent, being followed by Yamato. Only when she was alone, she allowed herself to cry, like she had always done ever since the day when she lost her husband.
Out of the tent, Sora stumbled on something and nearly fell. Yamato embraced her from behind just in time. He didn't tell her anything. Yamato knew when Sora needed his words and that wasn't one of those moments. She turned to him and wrapped the man in her arms, burying her face on his shoulder. Yamato kept a hand on her back and caressed her hair with another. He would let her cry as much as she needed.
While Sora and Yamato were with Toshiko, Takeru and Koushiro arrived at the camp, after being guided by Miyako while Daisuke led the horses. Once they arrived, the pieces of fabric covering their eyes were removed. Takeru wasn't impressed by the amount of twenty dirty tents or the small group of people wearing cheap clothes. But what did he know? He was an ignorant, after all! Maybe that was the highest fashion among the revolutionaries and he just wasn't intelligent enough to appreciate it!
"Iori Hida, you better come out at this second or may the Goddess help me!" Miyako called.
A teenager with greens eyes and black hair came out of one of the tents. He was carrying a large mechanical black box, which had several small gears moving on its sides.
"You really are meddling with my invention!" Miyako accused.
"It wasn't working properly," Iori said. "I thought I could fix it if I took a better look-"
"Iori, you shouldn't touch other people's inventions without permission!" Miyako scolded him.
"It's not just your invention! I helped too!" Iori said.
"You just assisted me in the manufacture! I was the one who designed it and named it!" Miyako retorted.
"If it doesn't work, you didn't do a very good job, Miyako," Daisuke remarked.
"Hey, you're the last person that can criticize the Smokenator, Daisuke! You've never invented anything in your life!" Miyako shouted. Then, she grabbed the box and tried to pull it from Iori's hands, but he didn't want to give it to her.
"Stop it! I haven't finished fixing the Night Bringer yet!" Iori said, refusing to let go of the box.
"Stop trying to rename the Smokenator!" Miyako said back, putting more force in her grip.
"I find both of those names silly..." Takeru murmured, "but I'm nothing more than an ignorant simpleton who knows nothing of the world!"
"Mr. Takeru, you don't have to say that about yourself. You're clever!" Koushiro tried to cheer him up.
"You were the one who called me dumb!" Takeru accused.
"I never said that!" Koushiro defended himself. "I simply advised you to think more before saying things. I can tell you by experience that offending the wrong person can lead to terrible consequences. I didn't want you to repeat my mistakes."
"Your mistakes?" Takeru asked. "Are you saying that the reason why you die so much is that you keep saying dumb things to people?"
"I'm not going to deny that many of my deaths are tied to people not appreciating what I had to say... even if I was trying to help them..." Koushiro said in a sad tone. "But before all that, I offended someone very dangerous... in consequence I was cursed with the clairvoyance..."
"Cursed? But that's such a fascinating ability!" Takeru contested.
For a moment, it was as if the light had completely vanished from Koushiro's eyes, as if he had gotten lost in painful thoughts.
"It's not fascinating to see tragedies before they happen..." Koushiro had a cold tone, "it's not fascinating to try everything to stop those tragedies... to save people... and then watching them die anyway... unable to change anything..."
Takeru wasn't sure of what to think after their conversation took such a dark turn. Thankfully for him (but not for anyone else), the sudden eruption of black smoke from the mechanical box Miyako and Iori had been fighting over distracted him from the awkward situation Koushiro had created. The black smoke rose to the sky quickly and began to spread in high speed. Despite being the middle of the day, the darkness befalling them made it seem like night had arrived.
"Iori, what did you do?!" Miyako questioned, letting go of the box.
"Don't act as if I was the only one in fault for this!" Iori stood up for himself.
"The entire island is going to see this smoke!" Daisuke said. "Everybody is going to know our location now!"
"What's going on here?!" Yamato inquired, running in their direction alongside Sora. He saw Iori still holding the box from which the smoke was coming. "Iori, what did you do?!"
"Hey, don't criticize Iori!" Miyako defended the teenager. "A farmer like you can't understand the passion of a scientist!"
Sora hurried to untie Takeru and Koushiro. Right after that, she grabbed the red-haired young man by the shoulders and inquired:
"Is this the 'darkness' you saw? Are Yamanaka's men coming?"
"I think so..." Koushiro murmured.
"You think so?!" Yamato snapped. "Are you a clairvoyant or not?! Give us a straight answer! Tells us what will happen next!"
"I can only see fragments of the future!" Koushiro explained. "I can't control this ability!"
"Brother, leave him alone!" Takeru pleaded. "Koushiro is just trying to help! He might not know everything and not understand the intricacies of certain social rules or why some people don't appreciate fine clothes!"
"Is he still talking about Mr. Demon?" Daisuke wondered.
"But the point is that he's trying his best to help!" Takeru continued. "He might make mistakes and say dumb things sometimes, but he's trying to improve himself and do better! Isn't that worthy something?"
"I think I'm not understanding the context here," Yamato said. "What on Earth happened after I went after Sora?"
"Sora, what happened here?" Toshiko questioned, running in her daughter's direction. "This smoke is giving away our location! The camp can be attacked! Yamanaka's henchmen outnumber us! They have better equipment and more munition! In our current state, we can't outfight them!"
For a moment, Sora wanted to say spiteful things to her mother. But the desperation on Toshiko's face made her hesitate. Her previous words of accusation towards Toshiko, fueled by the pain caused by the loss of her father, seemed cruel and stupid on retrospect. It couldn't be more evident that her mother had always worried about the safety of her people.
"We just need to make sure that everybody escape to the tunnels before they get here," Sora said, letting go of Koushiro and turning to her mother. "Let's reunite our best shooters! I can lead the offensive and buy you enough time-"
"Sora, no!" Toshiko interrupted. "You have to escape too! I will stay back and fight them off!"
"Are you out of your mind?!" Sora questioned. "You'll die if you do that! I have to stay and help you!"
"This is an order, Sora! You'll leave!" Toshiko insisted.
"I'm not going to run!" Sora stated. "I'm not going to turn my back on other people and leave them to die!"
For the first time in many years, Sora saw tears in Toshiko's eyes.
"Back then, the thing that I wanted the most was to save Haruhiko or die trying. But I couldn't do that... and it wasn't just for the sake of the group..." Toshiko told her daughter. "If I had tried to save Haruhiko, both your father and I would've died. And then, you'd be left alone to fend for yourself... those horrible men wouldn't show mercy to a little kid... you might hate me for that decision, Sora. It's alright, I hate myself for it as well. But I don't regret choosing to protect you. I'll keep choosing you above everything and everyone, for as long as I live. So, please, don't throw your life away!"
Sora could feel her eyes getting flooded with tears. She almost didn't recognize the warmth and lightness taking over her heart. They were reminiscent of happier times, when her family was together. Those feelings made her realize that, despite respecting her mother's love for her, she still couldn't abandon the woman. Sora wasn't willing to lose the rest of her family.
"OH MY GODDESS!" Takeru suddenly shouted, startling everybody who was enthralled by the touching moment Sora and Toshiko were sharing. "I JUST HAD THE MOST AMAZING IDEA THAT IS GOING TO SAVE EVERYBODY! IT'S SUCH AN INTELLIGENT PLAN! I'M SO INTELLIGENT! HOW COULD I EVER THINK I WAS DUMB?!"
"Wait, did you seriously just come up with an idea that is going to save everybody?" Miyako asked in a skeptical tone.
"Yes, I did, Miss Mad Scientist!" Takeru interjected, pointing his finger dramatically towards the dark sky. "But before I begin to explain my brilliant plan, tell me, do you have any other interesting invention?"
"Oh! Are you asking me if I have other interesting inventions?" Miyako grinned. "I do! I really do! Just you wait to see them!"
"Now, you're sounding like an evil scientist, Miyako!" Daisuke commented.
"Be quiet, Daisuke!" Miyako retorted.
"Hey, Daisuke!" a young woman with light pink hair approached him. Several other revolutionaries were surrounding the group. "Care to explain what's going on to the rest of us?"
"Honestly, Jun, weren't you paying attention?" Daisuke asked.
"We have been paying attention!" another young woman, with short curly blond hair and glasses, said. "But we still need an explanation! We don't even know who that class traitor claiming to have a brilliant plan is!"
"Who are you calling a class traitor?!" Takeru inquired.
Koushiro found the discussion funny. It felt strange to laugh after such a long time, even if he was trying to muffle it. That heartwarming feeling, however, didn't last long.
He suddenly saw himself in a large living room. In front of him, there was an old skinny man looking through a large window. Through ot, the black smoke covering the hill was visible at the horizon.
"Tell me, Monk..." the old man spoke in a husky voice, "is it really wise to send all my forces after the revolutionaries?"
"I can protect you by myself, you have nothing to worry about."
Koushiro knew that voice too well. In other times, nothing would make him happier than to listen to that person, especially when he was laughing. At that moment, however, all that voice did was to confirm his dreadful suspicions.
"What is a holy man like you doing on Turtle Island?" the old man inquired, turning to his right. There, the person in the monk clothes was leaning against a wall. He was smiling at the other, but that smile wasn't like the ones he used to show Koushiro. There was no shred of joy left on that face. The top of the monk's head was covered by a black hood, but Koushiro could still see some strings of that person's large brown hair coming out.
In those distant times, that person would never hide his hair.
"Well, you know..." the monk smirked, "nothing much... just waiting for an old friend."
His sight began to turn dark, indicating that the vision was ending. Koushiro was once again in the revolutionary camp. Takeru was still discussing something with the revolutionaries, but Koushiro wasn't paying attention anymore. His mind wandered through memories of their last meetings, which all ended with his best friend asking him the same thing:
"Please, stay dead this time."

“Do we have to go?” Taichi sighed, slouching further into the couch. From where he sat he could see his baby sister rolling her eyes, simultaneously packing up the pie she made earlier today to bring to the party.
“Don’t be such an indifferent baby,” Hikari said, her eyes now directed to him. “It’ll be fun! I know you’re dying to see everyone together. Daisuke made some special ramen for us, Mimi-san spends this Christmas in Japan for the first time since three years, even Jyou-senpai and Iori-kun could take off from their busy work schedules.”
Hikari was right, he wanted to see everyone, especially together which was something very rare. Taichi tried to think back to the last time all of them were together, but it was hard. Meanwhile Hikari continued her enumeration, saying they should be prepared for Miyako and Ken showing off Miyako’s little baby bump. They would be the first ones to have a baby and Taichi suddenly felt old.
“Of course Sora-san and Koushiro-san will be there too.”
Taichi felt his face heating up hearing those names, immediately sitting up straight, his throat dry. Hikari’s suspicious gaze made Taichi feel even more uncomfortable as he swallowed trying to get back his cool.
“You forgot the blondes,” he quickly covered up his nervosity to which Hikari responded with nervosity of her own. Now they were even. However unlike Taichi, Hikari managed to keep her cool.
“I don’t have to mention them, because they obviously will be there as the party is hosted by Takeru.” her calm voice replied to him. “And of course he will drag Yamato-san with him just like I have to drag you with me. Kami, why do you two always have to be so stubborn and indifferent while both of you love to have the group complete?”
“No I love to have the group complete while Yamato just pretends to love it, when in reality he just wants to be alone with his guitar.” Taichi countered.
“You sure about that?” Though the counter was short lived. “Because Takeru told me he is bringing a girl. And you know, it’s Christmas... we’re at Takeru’s place... meaning there will be one or two mistletoes...” Hikari shyly smiled, a pink blush on her cheeks. Taichi sighed, standing up from the couch now having two good reasons to go to the party. One to see Yamato trying to act all cool but miserably failing being all nervous around the girl he would bring. And two to keep an eye on his sister, Takeru and the mentioned mistletoes.
Or maybe he had three reasons. After all, Sora and Koushiro would be there too…
Takeru’s Christmas party was a blast and Taichi had to admit he had a good time eating with everyone, catching up and seeing everyone all happy together. Not to mention that the booze was lifting up his mood. Also, luckily for him Takeru hadn’t decorated the place with mistletoes but instead everywhere were candy canes. The ricocheting light shining on the candy canes turning the room slightly red.
Taichi looked over to Sora and Koushiro who were in deep conversation with Mimi and Jyou. Their red colored hair fading because of the red shade filling up the room. Nonetheless they looked stunning to him, Koushiro dressed in a simple black trousers topped of with a forest green blouse and Sora in a stylish indigo colored cocktail dress. He dreamily smiled to himself enjoying the sight in front of him, the confusing romantic feelings he experienced during the past months coming all back to him at once. His heart speeding up by the thought of a possible confession.
He had thought about it for a while now, feeling like he had to confess his feelings someday. But it was complicated, he had no idea how to do it and, most important, he didn’t want to ruin his friendship with the both them. Besides, how did one confess his feelings towards two people at the same time? He could feel his head spin as he gathered all the courage inside of him.
Yamato interrupted his plans, taking a seat next to him. Not wanting or able to ignore him, Taichi shifted his attention from Koushiro and Sora to the blonde, giving Yamato a questioning look. Their friendship was either a stormy one or a quiet one and right now it leaned more towards the quiet friendship, because the only thing Yamato did was nodding a single nod in the direction of the improvised stage where his date picked up the microphone of the karaoke set.
Everyone in the room immediately grew quiet, just like Taichi had done, shifting their attention to the girl with the microphone. She told everyone she had played in a band, which didn’t surprise Taichi knowing Yamato’s type, and that she wanted to kick off the karaoke part of the night. He glanced over to Yamato -who looked a tad embarrassed- to gave him an approving nod. Making himself comfortable he leaned back in his chair, music accompanying the red light painting the room.
Everybody's happy Snow is falling down Prayers are being nicer Miracles all around
The girl’s voice sounded soft in comparison to Yamato’s more raw sound. It had something magical with the redness in the room. That thought made his gaze drift off to his two favorite redheads once more.
From afar I've loved you But never let it show And every year another December comes and goes
A warm smile escaped Taichi’s lips upon looking at them. Kami, they looked gorgeous and so incredibly happy. He had looked at them for quite some years, but recently those looks felt more like deep stares. Or maybe those stares had always been there and he wasn’t sure anymore. Thinking back to it, how long did he have these feelings now? It was hard to remember as those feelings felt both confusing and strangely familiar for so long all the same. Because, well, he had to admit to himself that over and over again he was mesmerized by their appearances. Even after all these years. The way they looked, the way they smiled, the way they talked…
Always watching Never reaching
He had always watched them. Always. He knew them from the inside out. Thing was that they didn’t know him, or at least not the way he felt now. And to be honest, he had no idea how to exactly reach them about this matter. He never had been able to. Never.
Blue is where I've been Green can't buy me you Silver bells remind me That mistletoe's for two
Taichi looked to his left where Yamato was. His mouth was curled into a proud smile while his eyes were closed, deeply listening to his date’s singing. Then Taichi looked over to Mimi who was supportively and excitingly clapping for Yamato’s date like a little kid. His eyes then shifted to Jyou who’s foot was attempting at tapping along the beat of the music, a serene smile on his face. Of course his eyes then fell onto Koushiro and Sora sitting side by side. He whispering something in her ear. She laughing to whatever he had said to her.
The realization hit him there that they were already with two. Sure, as far as Taichi knew they weren’t a couple or a thing or each other’s date. But he couldn’t just interfere telling he loved them both, right? Besides, a romantic relationship existed of a maximum of two people.
So I found a color That only tells the truth That paints a picture Of how I feel for you
They were messing with him. It was messing with his head. He was messing with himself. The confusion in his body and mind only grew bigger and Taichi could feel himself slip. He had to tell them. For all he knew he had to. But how? Or when? Where? Who? Who…
I'll never feel you If I don't tell you
All he knew was that he had to confess and that tonight could be his chance. Having no clue where it would lead him. Lead them.
But this Christmas I'm gonna risk it all
But Taichi had to risk it all.
This Christmas I'm not afraid to fall
He could fall deep. And if so, he could still count on them to catch him. Right…?
So I'm at your door with nothing more than words I've never said
What were words anyway? It was all it took, words. It would be best to just tell them the things he had been afraid to tell them. He had been afraid to confess.
In all this white, you'll see me like you've never seen me yet
It would definitely place him in a new light. Though suddenly he wasn’t sure if it was a good or bad light. A bright and shiny one or a cold and darker one. He didn’t want to seem desperate. It had to be sweet love, like the red of the candy canes all across the room.
Wrapped in red
But what if it turned out to be the bitter red of fury and he would destruct their bond like a raging fire… He could feel his courage fading, a dark shade of doubt replacing all the shades of red he cherished and loved so dearly.
