summer prompts: T A I O R A [23]
🌻 taichi + sora // [23] summer songs/songmixes
i’m not sure whether i interpreted the song correctly but i’ve been listening to sunflower - post malone & swae lee all over again! i’m setting this story in their middle school days just to give it a more young love vibe lol.
___
They had been friends since forever, but his mother started to interfere more after they officially announced their relationship as a couple. Taichi knew that Yuuko only tried her best to become that type of ‘cool mom’, yet her way was often beyond his comprehension. Every time Sora came to his house, Yuuko would immediately treat her like royalty, claiming her as her most precious daughter-in-law she prayed for endlessly when they were only in middle school. There was even that one time when Sora stayed a little bit too late because she was trying to teach the helpless Taichi for the exam, and then Yuuko said, “you can just stay the night here! It’s okay if you want to sleep in Taichi’s room!” —which of course made Sora very flustered.
This time, his mother asked his girlfriend to arrange a flower to decorate their small house as she knew that Sora was a daughter of iemoto.
Of course, Taichi scolded his own mother for being such a bother, but Sora immediately jumped in and agreed with the idea. Excitedly, Yuuko set up the date where she was available to join her in the process. However, as Taichi and Sora arrived in the Yagami’s after school on the promised date, they found a note in the refrigerator door saying that she had a sudden errand.
Sora decided to do it on her own since they already brought a bunch of flowers from her mother’s shop. She sat on the couch with all the tools spread above the table: plants, scissors, and a vase that according to Taichi hadn’t been used for a long time. Taichi watched as Sora worked, and even though she always complained that she would be never good at ikebana, her hands were moving placidly just like an expert. (But then again, he never really watched a flower arranger worked before, so….)
He knew that Sora was a total silent when she did a certain task, but Taichi loathed the dead air between them especially that they owned the entire house by themselves (Hikari sent him a message that she was going for a shopping with Miyako). He finally sighed and tried to push his luck. “Sorry that my mom is very irresponsible.”
“What do you mean?” Sora answered without averting her gaze. “On the contrary, I feel honored that she entrusted me with this stuff.”
Taichi paused, thinking about what to say next.
“Can I lie down on your lap?”
“Okay.”
He didn’t expect that but he went on anyway, putting his head in her lap. They were back on the silent term, nevertheless. She was still busy cutting stems that were too lengthy.
“Can I watch something?” Taichi knew that Sora usually listened to some traditional Japanese music especially to get in the mood of ikebana, but they didn’t have a radio and only chatty shows that were available this time of the day.
“Sure.”
He turned on the TV, and it was either a chatty show or a lame drama in each station. She didn’t look very bothered; it was him who got so bored instead.
“Can I go to sleep?”
“You can.”
“Are you in a good mood or is this your way of relaxing?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you seem very… undisturbed.” And he felt kind of neglected, to be honest.
“Why do I have to feel disturbed anyway?” she laughed. “Don’t worry, Taichi. I know that you’re tired of the continuous training for the last game, yet you still managed to study hard for the exams. And not only you won the game, but you also got a very nice score, so you deserve a little break and I don’t mind being your pillow for a while.”
Taichi stared at Sora agape while she continued to trim her sunflower. A new program was airing on the TV, presenting the chart of current music starting from the new entry this week. An English song then filled the living room, and as he listened to the lyrics, he never took off his eyes of her.
You’re a sunflower, I think your love will be too much.
“You are a sunflower, eh, Sora?” he mumbled quietly. “You really love me too much….”
“Wow. Your English is surely improved,” she commented half-jokingly—he didn’t expect her to also listen to the song. “Who knows that in the future you can work abroad? A diplomat or something.”
“Well, I don’t mind doing anything as long as I have you everywhere I go.”
And that was when she finally stopped; her cheek flushed in his sudden confession. Taichi had his laugh this time and hovered his neck to stole a quick kiss on her lips. “Now I really feel like sleeping,” he concluded and pulled his head back, nuzzling against her lap just like a napping cat.

Number 16 with Taichi and Sora, for the summer prompts!
🌻 taichi + sora // [16] quiet warm summer mornings in bed
well this should be a soft summer drabble, yet i turned it to a hot summer. not sorry though.
___
It had been four days since their marriage, three nights since they left the capital city, and literally two mornings of not going anywhere but the hotel bed.
Haruhiko Takenouchi gave them a voucher worth of a week stay at one of the most luxurious ryokan in Niseko as a wedding gift. “I know this would a better present for wintertime,” that old man said, “but I got it after doing some research up there recently and it’s only valid for a month, so wouldn’t it be a waste to let it go?” Indeed although they would prefer somewhere warmer and merrier instead of secluded, mountainous area, they still happily accepted it since they weren’t as wealthy as Mimi who could pick any place in the world to go for honeymoon with Yamato (and Sora was also too stingy to crack open her piggy bank again after spending quite much for their wedding party).
She already took a mental note about what to do while in the north: trying the all-natural hot spring water, visiting a farm that produced the authentic Hokkaido milk, and walking across lavender fields. However, as they arrived at their suite, Taichi insisted to keep her in the bed that he claimed as the most spacious one he’d ever seen, surely having countless of burning kisses and passionate love-making whether it was day or night, only to catch a break for meals. But even if they didn’t do it, they would still be holding on each other’s arm and never let go.
Sora woke up from her sleep for a dozen of times, watching as Taichi was still sound asleep. It was funny how his light snores became so charming, and she didn’t mind spending her whole life waking up to such a view. She curled a smile, shifted to sit on the edge, just before a hand pulled her back to the pillow and enveloping her bare body in a big warm hug.
She muffled her laugh. “Taichi—”
“Just stay,” he whispered in a coarse voice, eyes still tightly shut.
“We’ve been staying above the mattress for two nights in a row.”
“Let’s just not go anywhere….”
Exasperated, she clicked her tongue. This would be a long conversation it seemed, so she started by kissing his lips shortly. “Aren’t you going for a morning run?”
Taichi finally opened his eyes, rubbing it lazily as he woke up from a deep slumber. “Sora, I’m on holiday. Why do I have to jog?”
“I don’t know—don’t you miss being in shape?”
“Don’t you rather have a fat, ugly, unathletic husband so that the girls won’t be obsessed with him?”
“Now don’t be so conceited, sir,” she gave him an eye. “I’m serious, Taichi; we should move. I read the reviews and they said the restaurant is superb. They have delicious meals with such amazing scenery, yet we always ask our foods to be delivered.”
“And that’s why room service existed.”
“Stop being so lazy!” She eventually couldn’t help but raising her voice in annoyance. “If we keep this up, the days will pass unknowingly and suddenly we already have to go back to our reality in Tokyo.”
“My reality is to have you as my wife, no matter where we are,” he rephrased, and just when she could feel her cheek reddened, he continued, “but I happen to love this bed just as much as I love you, so it’s not wrong for a gentleman to have both things he loves the most at the same time as a token of his hard work, right?”
All the feelings fleet away in a snap. She smacked his shoulder that he loosened his hands and Sora was able to release herself. “That’s it. I’m going to try the private onsen—”
“Oh, come on. Who the hell drown themselves in a hot bath on a summer?” —yet when she finally got up, he clenched her back down with a tighter grip. He even started giving her a series of butterfly kisses so that she wouldn’t resist—and at the same time, sending her a signal that he wanted to do it again.
She sighed in desperation as he kissed the crook of her neck, but just when she was about to give up, a brilliant idea passed by her mind. She smirked before lowering her lips to his earlobe.
“How about this…” she said, “you let me go and I’ll let you do me in the pool?”
He stopped altogether, pulled his head back immediately and stared at her dumbfounded.
Sora giggled in victory, drawing herself out of the bed and heading to the onsen while giving Taichi such an inviting view with her exposed back. Oh, didn’t her husband also love a challenge?

17+23 with Takari, please?
🌻 takeru + hikari // [17] soft summer rain + [23] summer songs/songmixes
i don’t want to limit your imagination about the song he played, but i’m writing this base on stuck with me - timeflies as it is a soft, chilll, comforting tunes.
___
She didn’t really hate grey skies nor the sea, but combining it together, it was her worst nightmare.
They were on a holiday, renting a beach house somewhere in a rural area that Miyako found on the internet. While everyone was having fun swimming and grilling seafood for lunch, Hikari went her own way a little too far; straying southerly without an aim, collecting seashells and taking photographs.
Takeru managed to catch her somewhere along the way. However, instead of asking her to come back, they wandered by themselves away from the crowds, painting two pairs of footpaths above the wet sands along the shore.
The weather suddenly had a change of heart. White streaks of clouds and baby blue turned into scattered ash, mild breeze blew a tad harder. It was no longer a surprise when the rain started to fall slowly, but to say that they weren’t disappointed would be a lie. Takeru saw a bus shelter above the cliff where they agreed to run into, and as Hikari sat at the bench facing the place she just set her feet into, that was when she realized how frightening the view was. The sky and the sea were no longer indistinguishable, creating a borderless gloom that pulled her to the most unwanted memories.
(Everything was the shade of black. The water, the village, the creature. She was so afraid. Please let her go home. Please save her. It was dark. It was—)
“Wow. We really walked three bus stops away,” said Takeru as he stood reading the signboard. “The bus won’t come until the next thirty minutes. No signals or anyone around, too….” He once again glared at his cell phone and swept at the emptiness around—the area seemed inhabited somehow.
“Well. I guess things really went south—”
He stopped with his pun when he turned and saw Hikari looked down at her lap where two palms clenched weakly at the darker tone of the skirt. Her whole body trembled and it wasn’t because she was slightly drenched from the gentle downpour.
A faint clap of thunder in the invisible horizon. She winced in terror.
But a few moments later, Hikari could feel a warmth moving slowly. She thought that the sun finally came out from his hideout, yet the ground beneath her was still consumed by shadow. She then realized the sound of water was gradually fading, replaced by a soft tune in her one ear. She glanced and found that Takeru was sitting beside; an earphone plugged in his left ear while the other end nested at her own right ear. He was staring at the landscape smiling, but then immediately turned to faced her as he realized he was being looked at.
His smile was still tugging—wider as their eyes met.
“Don’t worry,” he said. “We’ll go back sooner.”
And until the comes, I’ll be here with you.
He saved her once again, and for that, she would be forever grateful for having him in her side always.

Although you didn’t put Koushiro/Takeru as an option, can I request them with number 25 🙇🏻♀️
🌻 koushiro + takeru // [25] thunderstorms
this is my first time writing a koukeru centric so i’m excited!! both are adorable <3 inspired by their relationship in tri because i know you watched tri so much, ayushi :B also yes, i’m trying an attempt on being humorous again...
___
Koushiro tried his best to act normally, but each time he finished typing a sentence, he couldn’t help but sneak a glance through the gap of his computers.
Takeru was still there on the couch, playing games on his mobile with Patamon.
It was actually part of his stupidity; he should never scroll through online shop during their weekly get-together, especially with Takeru sitting beside him. The boy was famous for his unexpectedly sharp instinct, and eventually, he managed to take a peek. Being found red-handed, Koushiro had no other option than telling his intention to buy some new clothes, yet he wasn’t sure about his size because he never really measured himself. Takeru then told him to just go to a department store and that he was willing to accompany him. “You can see it directly whether it’s fit or not, right? I think I know which clothing line that has the right design for you,” he added as a euphemistic way to confirm that Koushiro’s fashion sense was hideous.
He hesitated at first, but eventually agreed just because he wasn’t comfortable rejecting people. However, he didn’t expect that Takeru really came for it.
“Koushiro-han,” Tentomon whispered from the bottom of his chair. “Are you sure you want to keep Takeru-han waiting? It’s been quite long.”
He didn’t give an answer, but then Takeru turned and caught him in the eye, asking a similar question. “Are you done, Koushiro-san?”
Koushiro managed to utter a short answer despite him flabbergasted for being exposed. “N, not yet!”
Of course he was just stalling so that Takeru felt tired of waiting and eventually decided to cancel the plan. The chance of Takeru going home might be small, considering there was a thunderstorm outside and that Takaishi guy was quite persistent, but Koushiro was also quite a determined. He wouldn’t admit it out loud, but shopping at brick and mortar gave him anxiety. Koushiro understood that the shop assistants were just doing their job (hence the name!), but why couldn’t they let him be alone? Why did they keep attacking their personal space with their saccharine attitude? Didn’t they understand that for some people ‘may I help you?’ felt like ‘may I hell you?’
However, the thing about Koushiro was that he didn’t master the art of dishonesty. Unconsciously, he repeated the same answer each time he was being asked similar questions, that at some point, Takeru should know that he was lying.
And the God was probably not so happy about him being a liar, so He struck a thunder so powerful that it caused a sudden blackout in his office.
“NO!” Koushiro finally revolted from his chair after finding his screen went as black as the room. He started to get panic, but it wasn’t really because of his works since autosave existed for a reason. It was more because of—
“T, Tentomon? Where is the flashlight?” he asked while rummaging through the surface of his desk, which Tentomon answered in the same panic manner (“D, drawer! I think it’s in the drawer!”). Koushiro pulled the drawer, and assisted by a little light from outside, he spotted the flashlight a bit behind, but suddenly just before his hand could reach it, the drawer was slammed closed.
Koushiro yanked his hand back right before pinched. His eyes widened in shock, but when he turned his head right, he was far more surprised. Takeru was standing there beside him, hand still holding the handle of the drawer.
“Well, Koushiro-san,” he said casually. “What a coincidence. I guess this is the perfect time for us to go.”
“B, but it’s raining so hard outside….”
“Hm? But the station is just below this building. We’ll be there even before we get wet.” He was right, though. “Now, now. I believe you have even finished the works for a whole week, don’t you think?”
Or in other words, you have kept me waiting long enough, so stop dodging.
There was a sudden lightning from the thunderstorm outside that highlighted half of his face and created such a horror scene. Takeru was smiling; the kind of smile so pure it gave a chill through his spine, even Tentomon was hiding below the desk since it was terrifying. With Patamon innocently nested above his head, it was as if Takeru had a pair of evil horns and ready to drag Koushiro to his ‘hell’ of customer service.
He was wrong. Takeru could be scarier than an aggressive shop assistant.
#digimon#by me#fic#digisoftsummer#koushiro izumi#takeru takaishi#koukeru#i should post this immediately after my previous post of mochimon/patamon#ya know...#but your mimato edits were so adorable i couldn't resist

Hi! For the soft summer prompt: going down the shore with Ken/Yamato? Please? :)
🌻 ken + yamato // [24] going down the shore
this can be a sequel to my takari drabble, where the kids renting a beach house for the summer. i know this was supposed to be a heavy ken/yamato, but i just can’t resist to put a hint of mimato (aand a bit of taiora, daitakari, and kenyako) because I CAN’T HELP IT LOL i’m still feeling @ashandpikachu‘s mimato drabble from last night hehe.
nevertheless, just to be safe, i will put a tw: loneliness, darkness, and sadness/depression for this one. but if you can cope with ken’s struggle with the darkness, i guess you may proceed. it’s very mild, i think.
___
Yamato was in charge of dinner that night, and somehow, they were all agree to have his infamous deadly curry. For a challenge, Taichi claimed. Ironically, he was the one who was currently slamming the bathroom door furiously, screaming at Daisuke who hadn’t gotten out yet for almost thirty minutes (“I SWEAR TO GOD THAT I WILL GIVE MY BLESSING TO TAKERU INSTEAD TO DATE MY SISTER IF YOU DON’T GET OUT WITHIN SECONDS!”), which caused him to be yelled back by Sora—now his girlfriend. She was preparing some peach tea in the kitchen, along with Ken and Iori who were still cleaning up the dishes, to help them unwind from Yamato’s merciless meal.
The victims weren’t only Taichi and Daisuke. Miyako and Hikari were actually occupying the second-floor bathroom right now. Figured that they must be way less hostile about the turn.
In the living room, Koushiro—not surprisingly—was dealing with his laptop. Jyou and Takeru were just sitting casually, but not as casual as Mimi who conveniently leaned in her boyfriend’s shoulder. If only Yamato wasn’t strumming his guitar, she probably would just put her head on his lap.
All of a sudden, Jyou suddenly asked, “How come you never play your harmonica again, Yamato?”
Yamato stopped playing and looked up. Mimi gave an eye to Jyou with sudden curiosity.
“He actually still carries it in his pocket wherever he goes,” Takeru pointed out; always a caring little brother, indeed. “I think he uses the harmonica for a part of his next song with the band.”
“Hey, why don’t you play it now, then?” Mimi nudged him with a playful smile. “The song that you always played back in the Digital World. I always like it, you know?”
Yamato stared at Jyou, Takeru, and Koushiro (who finally put an interest in the conversation), then turned to Mimi who plead with a hopeful grin. He sighed in defeat—he would never win against Mimi and her famous puppy eyes, at the very least—before resting away his guitar. “For your information, I don’t always bring it,” he revised. But that night, he pulled the small instrument, blowing through the holes and creating such a perfect symphony all over again.
Oddly, the nostalgia did not only strike the elder kids, but also for Ken Ichijouji.
He paused with the dishes as the melody filled the whole house. It felt like he was being taken away to the summer 2000, not long after his big brother Osamu killed in the accident. It was one of the darkest moments of his life, and just when Ken thought that it was better if Osamu wasn’t around, the guilt constantly slapped him in the face and the pain won’t stop, thus the dark Digivice and Kaiser came as an antidote—a very bad one.
After the school ended, little Ken didn’t usually go straight home. He went to a park on the shore of Tokyo Bay, overlooking the artificial island of Odaiba, and then pondered alone. The thoughts usually revolved about how his parents fell into a great abyss of sadness without considering his existence as their other, alive, son; how the word of mouth spread among their acquaintances that he would never be as good as his big brother; but most importantly, he always questioned whether it was the accident who killed Osamu or his words instead.
There was one day when the darkness choked him too far. It felt as if he was struggling by himself.
But suddenly, a song came up with the wind. Ken looked up, searching for something that sounded so distant at first. However, when he found a boy less than a mile away from where he stood, the music got louder as it was clear that he was the source of it. The boy was probably around Osamu’s age or perhaps a bit younger, and little Ken wasn’t sure what instrument he was playing or whether his hair was light because of the sunlight. The melody, on the other hand, resonated a certain feeling of loneliness and the longing of something, yet it knocked him right in the soul as if it tried to give him the solitude he was seeking since the death of Osamu.
(As if it was telling that he wasn’t the one who felt lonely or missing in this world—others feel the same thing and it was justifiable.)
Once the boy finished playing, he glanced towards the direction of Ken, but before he could recognize the face, Ken immediately ran away for fear of being caught watching. However, although he wasn’t a virtuoso, he remembered the song correctly for it had saved him momentarily in the past.
The claps pulled him back to reality. Ken glanced at the living room where Mimi was busy praising her boyfriend for such an amazing live session. Just before Sora left the kitchen with her prepared peach tea, Ken offered himself to help. He then held out the first glass right in front of Yamato, which made the blonde boy (it wasn’t because of the sunlight, turned out) glanced up.
“Yamato-san,” Ken smiled lightly. “Thank you so much.”
Thank you for saving me back then.
“Ah….” Yamato wasn’t sure with the words, but he accepted the glass. He thought that Ken was just thanking him for the dinner. “Not a big problem.”
Ken’s smile was still lingering, nevertheless. It even made Mimi squealed like a fangirl as he moved on to distribute other glasses. (“Gosh, Yama—he was so charming, now I understand why Miyako and other girls are so crazy about him!”)

Prompt 19 for Taiyama (Taichi/Yamato) if you are willing to do a couple thing for them.
🌻 taichi + yamato // [19] fireworks
i don’t know whether this is ‘a couple thing’ you were hoping. i tried to put some comedy but lol what am i doing. inspired by this great doujinshi. (again, please check all of the fanart on the site as they are amazing!)
___
Yamato had one particular memory that always came up every time he heard the salesmen rattled his bell and called all the passersby to try the lottery wheel. He once tried to spin it out when he was a little boy, winning a huge pack of fireworks which he thought was one of the weirdest prices you could ever win. As he didn’t know what to do about it, he called Takeru and asked him whether he wanted to join him lighting those things.
Little did he know, Takeru told Hikari and Hikari told everyone. There were finally eight of them gathering in front of the apartment complex that weekend, along with three mothers as supervisors. Even Mimi and Jyou wore yukatas as they were having the matsuri today. (Jyou said that he just got back from a family business, while Mimi was… being Mimi.)
It was unexpected to find different types of fireworks inside the package; the one that shaped like a snake, the sparklers that they used to write their names on the air, and also the fountain fireworks that became their closing attraction before they parted ways. However, the one that was going to live forever in his mind was the cake fireworks.
And yes, just as its name, it should be placed above a tart to make someone’s birthday merrier—but of course, Taichi had a different thought about it.
Once they were being lit, Taichi quickly started to search for a prey; Koushiro and Jyou being the first poor victims. He jerked forward, the fire lapping from two tubes he held was being pointed at the two boys who were running for their life. Fortunately for them, Taichi’s mother yelled at his son just in time to stop him from pulling a stupid, dangerous prank. Grumbled at his ‘lame’ mother, Taichi obeyed it anyway—not for a long time, though.
Just when Yuuko busily chatted with Natsuko and Kae, Taichi caught Yamato who was trying to help Takeru rip the packaging off the ice cream that Sora brought for all of them. His lips curved up mischievously, and without the adults knowing, he lit one of the cake fireworks and sneaked up behind the siblings.
He yanked the firework just like he did to Koushiro and Jyou. “WHOA!”
“TAICHI, WHAT THE—” Thud.
“Oniichan!”
It was lucky for them that the fireworks rolled away so no one was harmed due to Taichi’s careless action. However, Takeru saw as Taichi fell on Yamato, crushing him with a stomach that his brother said ‘could accommodate an elephant’s portion in one meal’ and lips that nested just above Yamato’s mouth.
…
(Wait a second; did their lips found each other? Their lips were touching. Were they k-i-s-s-i-n-g?)
Takeru blinked innocently. One second, two second.
“… Mama—”
“TAKERU, WAIT!”
#digimon#by me#fic#digisoftsummer#taichi yagami#yamato ishida#taito#taiyama#takeru takaishi#i feel like i don't have a sense of humor anymore...#i should go back watching those comedies...

Soft summer prompts, number five with Daiken (Daisuke and Ken) if you can :]
🌻 daisuke + ken // [05] watching the fireflies
this is an alternate version of eps 2x25 where daisuke tried to persuade ken to join the group. the setting is after the sunset when the skies darker than the one in anime, so it makes more sense.
___
This boy was surely something, he thought. Asking him to apologize, and then saying that they were all partners.
He figured that he was the most despicable person as Kaiser, harming a lot of creatures in several meanest ways possible, and Ken agreed that this might be the best way to atone his sins. But to join the other five kids, including the one who stood beside him right now, was a completely different story.
“Sorry. Can we leave the ‘partners’ part out?” he asked while gazing at the darkened sky.
“Why?”
“You and I—we can’t be partners.” It felt troublesome to repeat the word; how it sounded so strange as he was never raised in the arms of companies. “It’s impossible. We have different values, and even though I apologized, I think your friends will never accept it.” Especially the boy who once came to hit him in the face and the youngest who always looked at him with such a vengeance in his eyes.
“Anyway,” Ken continued, “I think it’s better if we go separate ways, so thanks.”
“But it doesn’t have to—”
Daisuke halted abruptly as they were interrupted by a faint yellow gleam flying between them. There were one before another two coming right after, and suddenly they were surrounded by a constellation of fireflies flying by the edge of the river.
“Whoa!” A little blue Digimon popped out from a duffle bag behind Daisuke. “What are these, what are these? Why are they glowing, Daisuke?”
“It’s called fireflies, Chibimon,” answered Daisuke. “They’re pretty cool, right? You can only see them in this season, so consider yourself lucky.” He hovered both of his hands over the swarm, looking at how they were slow dancing above his open palms. His lips tugged a tiny smile then, before he proceed to speak.
“You know what, Ichijouji? I think fireflies shine the best when they’re together.”
Ken was taken aback, but Daisuke said nothing afterward, as if he was sure that Ken understood what he meant with the words. The smile was still genuinely there even when Daisuke picked up his bag (Chibimon was still trying to catch some of the bugs on his own excitement) and left. Ken watched as Daisuke’s figure became saturated with the city before looking back at the illuminations while pondering about the goggle boy’s words.
Six fireflies hovered in front of him, creating infinite patterns of glow above the water that amplifying their charm.
Maybe they would be outshining if they were together, indeed.

[20] Jyou/Mimi please :D
🌻 jyou + mimi // [20] favorite cute summer outfits
FINALLY MY FIRST JYOUMI! thanks for asking, hope you like it :D i kinda refer this story to our war game where mimi went to hawaii anyway. and yes, ichika is from ichi, which means number one in japanese. i think we can call it a wrap for digisoftsummer for now; i should explore another prompt list!
___
Upon their return from her parents' house, Mimi brought a large cardboard box that was tightly sealed. Jyou wasn’t sure about what it was, but there was no way he would let his pregnant wife carried such weight, so of course he volunteered as a reliable man.
It was… quite heavy.
“Ta-da!” The answer came quite fast as Mimi immediately conducted an unboxing session in their living room. The first thing she pulled out was a Barbie doll, which he reckoned that it was from Mimi’s childhood. Although her hair was no longer as shiny as the Takaishida’s blonde (Jyou made a mental note to ask the brothers about the hair treatment), the condition was quite good.
“This is my first and favorite Barbie doll ever. Her codename was Ichika!” A creative name, actually; an easy-to-pronounce Japanese name (rather than Baabii which sounded very foreign) that implied ‘number one.’ “Papa bought it home the first time he went to New York for a business trip. I honestly couldn’t sleep without her and Mr. Teddy.” She put Ichika on the floor before discharging the next enormous item.
“And this is her house!”
… that was a big dollhouse. Must be the one that almost gave him a backache.
“Ooh!” Mimi shrieked as she pulled out a straw hat with little flowers atop. “If this is here, then it should be…” she rummaged once again through the box and squealed a little harder than before when she managed to find folded green clothes. She spread it on her lap before raised it higher so Jyou could see. It was a dress—a summer dress, to be exact—with a pink floral pattern. The size was too big for a Barbie doll, but it was too small for Mimi to wear, especially with the bump that was getting bigger.
“That looks a bit cheap for your taste,” Jyou said nonchalantly. The fabric was relatively sheer and the green was a bit dull, and Jyou doubted that it was because of the age.
“What do you mean?” Mimi pouted. “This was one of my favorite summer dresses. I found it in Hawaii—you know… that summer when Taichi got mad at me because I wasn’t home for the whole Diaboromon thing—and immediately fell in love with it. I often wear it every summer until it couldn’t fit my body anymore—which was faster than I thought thanks to puberty, urgh. But don’t you think the color reminds you of Palmon?”
Jyou couldn’t help but smile a little after hearing the reason, but there was one major problem that had been bugging his mind. “Err… Mimi dear.”
“Hm?”
“What are you planning to do with your childhood stuffs anyway?”
“Why are you even asking? Of course it’s for our baby girl!”
“… how do you know it’s a girl?” Jyou was taken aback. They had chosen not to know the gender before the birth of their child; they even asked their doctor, who was also Jyou’s colleague, not to reveal it to them. (But the thing was, he already—)
“Did you ask Miyajima-senpai for it?” he continued.
“No! It’s just I have a strong feeling about this baby… you know? A mother’s gut,” Mimi dreamily stated while hovering her hands on her belly. “It speaks to me, anata—she speaks to me! I know we’re going to have a beautiful, wonderful princess, and she shall have all things bright and beautiful in this world, just like her mother had!”
She was determined. He was speechless.
Jyou couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh. “H, hey. I need to make a phone call first, okay? Be right back.” He raised from the couch after he gave a quick kiss to his enthusiastic spouse, then went outside and to dial someone from his phone book.
“Miyajima-senpai? It’s me, Jyou. You must tell Mimi on the next appointment that we will have a son. I beg you, please! Just manage to slip it somehow! Before she painted the bedroom with hot pink!”

Hikari/Mimi [3] I used a random number generator, so I left it up to chance hahaha
🌻 hikari + mimi // [03] sitting on the porch at night
when i wrote this story, i just realized that we’re lacking the interaction between sora/hikari and mimi/hikari :< i wish da: 2020 will highlight the digigirls relationship somehow. anyway, this was set as an intro for the movie digimon hurricane landing!! where takeru and hikari visited mimi in new york. i don’t know how the hell did taichi even agree to that lol. and yes, this is actually implies takari!
also, this work imply the mini-drama where koushiro wrote a love letter and only hikari knew who was it for GASP KOUKARI MOMENT. mimi thought it was for her, but i assume it was just for other girl. their classmate, probably? you can watch it here (i only found the spanish subs video, but there were english transcripts around the web) (and fyi mimato fans, this drama is probably the only moment where we can hear that mimi knows yamato likes her... but so do the other boys.)
___
There were only the two of them sitting at the Tachikawa’s porch that summer night, just in front of the widely open door. Takeru was having a shower, while Mimi’s parent was out for an event. Hikari could feel the jetlag creeping in after a long flight from Tokyo to New York, but she refused to sleep first—at least not before Takeru was also ready to go for a rest—and it happened that Mimi was seeking for an extra pair of hands to help her with the nail polish.
“So how’s the flight?” Mimi began the conversation. “Do you know that the route once named as the longest flight ever? Koushiro-kun told me that.”
“Tiring, no wonder,” Hikari smiled slightly. “But it was quite a smooth flight—I kinda enjoy it. Although we got the back rows, we had the seats by the window so I was able to look at the sky. The changing colors was so great on camera.”
“And?”
Hikari slightly frowned. “And?”
“That’s it? Nothing else?”
“Err… the food was good?”
“You guys got the seats by the window on the back of the plane. I fly often enough to know that it’s a pair of seats instead of three.”
“So…?”
“Did something happen between you and Takeru-kun? Did he sleep in your shoulder? Oh, oh! Or was it the contrary?”
The second after Hikari realized the direction Mimi was trying to carry her, her cheek flushed. “Wh, what are you talking about?” she laughed rather nervously. Off-the-record, it was Hikari who fell asleep accidentally on his shoulder. “We’re just friends.”
The answer triggered a deep scowl on Mimi’s face. She yanked her both hands abruptly—which almost made Hikari painted her own inner wrist with cotton candy-colored lacquer—and used it to grip Hikari’s shoulder firmly. “Listen. Usually, I would return your words and say, ‘oooh, but I didn’t say anything about being more than friends,’” she raised her pitch particularly for her made-up sentence. “But this has gone too long and I’m sick of it. You guys are crazy about each other and you know it.”
It was a perfect bullseye that Hikari’s first instinct was to dodge it. “N, no way!”
Mimi sighed in exasperation. She forcefully shifted Hikari so that they looked at the inside of the house—eyes darting specifically to the direction of the bathroom. “What if Takeru-kun gets out of the shower topless, only with his boxer briefs or even a towel, looking like Adonis in a fresh smell of my father’s patchouli and mint soap?”
No matter how hard she resisted, Hikari had already pictured such a view in her imagination, and she was a terrible liar to start with. “I, it’s just wrong, okay?” she uttered with a flushed face. “He’s my childhood friend!”
“—and also a very fine man,” Mimi rephrased. “Hikari-chan. If you keep denying the feeling, some girls will snatch him in front of your eyes and I can guarantee you that you will never meet a better man than him.”
Hikari swallowed each of Mimi’s words a bit hard. She pushed a cough to get rid of the uneasiness. “O, oh! How about you, Mimi-san?” Again, she tried her best to avoid the spotlight. “No one attracts you in particular?”
“Eh? Hum….” It wasn’t expected that Mimi actually fell for that lousy trap. “Koushiro-kun has been the most interesting, but then he wrote a love letter to a girl who wasn’t even prettier than me.” She pouted. “Yamato-san is with Sora-san already. Jyou-senpai’s more like an older brother, so… I guess it’s between Michael and Taichi-san? Ah! How about I seduce your older brother so that he will get distracted and you can go on with Takeru-kun?”
“Bu, but—!”
The bathroom door was finally opened. Takeru emerged from the bathroom wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Instead of his waist, a towel was hanging around his neck and he used one of the ends of it to dry his hair. Hikari wasn’t sure about the faint smell that lingered through, but he was stunning even after just finished taking shower, nevertheless.
As if he felt someone was watching, Takeru turned his head to the porch. “What are you girls doing outside?”
Hiding her face, Hikari gazed down on her lap, while Mimi squinted, totally not amused with the outcome. “Why are you even wearing clothes, for God’s sake?!”
Takeru was left blinking in confusion.
