Do you know what design I reallyyy don't like from the kotlc official art?

Don't get me wrong I love most of it but the ogres look so wrong 😭😭😭 Why are they so top heavy? Why are the clothes so revealing?

I mean I don't want to see all that 😭 Specifically the men. The face and skin is pretty good but the bodies are sooo hard to imagine in a battle or talking with elves. Also how do they put their clothes on if they're metal? Wait are they metal? I can't remember.

Wanted to share this bit of lore I remember with someone who also treasures the Dizznees (and maybe Lovise).

Lovise could’ve lead her own squadron, but instead she chose (and continues to choose) to stay with Dex and his family so she can protect them. I just think it’s sweet.

oooooh i remember that!!! there was also something about her preferring to work alone as well and that she’s actually the oldest Goblin but not the highest ranking because of her preference to work alone

i think the fact that she prefers to work alone, but decided to stay with Dex and his family, when they are incredibly chaotic is amazing!

oh and my personal headcannon for her is that she tosses the triplets into snow drifts when they’re being annoying (Kesler and Juline are fine with it) and i saw someone say that they headcannoned her to have a long black braid and tattoos years ago now and i just think that’s an amazing idea

thinking about elven fighting tactics

using telekinesis to float the opponent into the air and knocking them into the ground

stabbing and injuring arms, legs, and knees so the opponents mobility is weakened

levitating above and around the opponent to confuse them and avoid getting hit

using outward channeling to create dust

knocking out opponents with concussions so they stay down

learning where important veins, body parts, and organs are to know what hits will cause permanent or killing damage

using enhancing to overwhelm an opponent with power before hitting them

all of the abilities are incredibly useful in combat

using channeling and telekinesis to throw weapons at the opponent

using brain pushes to gain speed and maneuver around and towards an opponent

the unchecked power the elves have is insane

I don't think any of you grasp how absolutely fucking insane it is that Biana jumped both Fintan And Vespera in one fucking move

Biana is the world's most gifted fucking vanisher because not only can she hide from gnomes who can see basically LIFE ITSELF

But she hid from Fintan and Vespera. Vespera, as smart as she wants to be, didn't notice one of the people in the group missing and that's on her ass. Play cocky games, get the shit beaten outta you. But FINTAN?! She got past fire alarm Fintan? And jumped his shit? WHILE DROPPING A QUIP?!

Iconic. Incredible. Amazing. Wonderful. Awe inspiring.

That gogurtgogogrodon should've been fucking howling by how wild of a move Biana pulled. Successfully too.

She got Fintan's goofy ass wanna be smurfs hat off ruining his Dopey cosplay so Grady could get him and immediately goes for Vespera. No hesitation, just turn and tackle the next guy.

Grizelda's freaky mutated gogopowerrangersgigglygongadong should've jumped in the air and started slamming the ground like a wrestling ref calling it because of how quickly Biana went from one opponent to another. She is insane. She is unstoppable. She is that girl. She is Barbie.

And that's not even everything she did!

Biana was bleeding out and said to everyone, on god, "get Vespera". Biana was not letting that woman walk. If she had the strength, I'm sure Biana would've arm barred her so badly Vespera would beg to be locked up and forgotten again just from the humbling Biana would give her.

Biana should've gotten a damn metal of honor for being the most insane out of all of them. Fintan has a body count that includes a Counsilor. Vespera has who knows how many human casualties on her hands. Biana was about to to em both in and I applaud her.

hate mediocre fight training/bodyguarding. if ur gonna be preparing someone to maybe get assassinated then do it right. here is a list of some thinks i think should be added

-poison immunity being built up

-improvised weapons training

-teaching people to wear shitty cheap rings ALL THE TIME so it's like brass knuckles

-understanding that different people are gonna be better at different weapons not bc of physical talent but bc of mental reasons

Dogs of the Lost Cities (aka Keefe and Mallow—Part 1)

So I've been thinking about the pets in the Lost Cities, or rather, the lack thereof. While there are some pets (Iggy, Princess Purryfins, etc), and we know there's a pet store in Atlantis, compared to the number of people we know, there are relatively few who we know have pets. Now, I have no theories for why this is, at least not at the moment.

But it strikes me as interesting that there are no human animals (that sounds weird but idk what else to call them XD) in the Lost Cities, especially since humans and elves used to live together. Was there really complete division of pets all along? Or did elves have pets like dogs and cats at one point, but didn't continue breeding them after the split? Are animals fooled by illusions so that no human animals wander into the Lost Cities by accident? 'Cause as awesome as all the fantastical animals are, I think it would be cool for the Lost Cities to have "normal" pets too.

So anyway, I'm giving the Keeper crew dogs. I'll start with Keefe 'cause he's my favorite because I think having a doggo would be great for him.

One day, Sophie and Keefe sneak off to the Forbidden Cities just because.

They happen across a animal rescue, and Keefe is super curious about it. When Sophie explains what it is, he insists on going in.

They wander around for a bit, then Sophie says they have to go home now, but Keefe sees a little golden puppy huddled in blankets in the back corner, and is immediately drawn to it.

The person at the counter notices and explains that the puppy was rescued off the side of road a week ago, it's sick and showing no signs of improvement, and they don't think it'll make it. They're now looking for someone willing to give it a comfortable home for however much time it has left.

Keefe is heartbroken by this and wants to take the puppy, but he doesn't have human money for the adoption fee.

He promises to come back within the hour, and the employee agrees to hold the puppy for him. Sophie and Keefe leap home, and then to Dex's house. They barge into Dex's room, grab him, and leap out the window for Sophie to teleport them.

Dex is obviously shocked to find himself suddenly in the Forbidden Cities, and is more than a little irritated with Sophie and Keefe for abducting him, but when they explain why they're there, he sighs and agrees to hack an ATM for them.

Keefe withdraws a huge amount of human money from his birth fund, then they go back to the rescue. Keefe donates the money to the rescue and leaves with the little Golden Retriever.

The three leap to Havenfield, where they are faced with a very angry Grady and Kesler. But neither can stay upset with the kids when they see the tiny puppy, and let them off with a firm warning not to pull a stunt like that again.

Keefe leaps to Splendor Plains and begs Elwin to try and save the puppy. Elwin warns Keefe that he's not a veterinarian and knows nothing about human animals, but takes a look at the puppy and prescribes a series of several elixirs, then recommends that Keefe take it back to Havenfield because Grady and Edaline are so skilled at rehabilitating animals.

After several days of the Ruewens' expert care, the puppy shows huge signs of improvement. A couple weeks later, it is fully recovered and probably the healthiest puppy on earth.

Grady, Edaline, and Elwin clear the puppy (a male) to be taken home, and Keefe is overjoyed. He names the puppy Mallow, because he is as sweat as mallowmelt and Sophie said that his coloring looked like a toasted marshmallow.

Focus more on the class-war that we got to observe in the earlier books

scrap the alicorns, or at the very least, the telepathy with them

Keep Forkle dead

I wouldn't have Sophie burn down the storehouse

I would have had Sophitz break up for a better reason than matchmaking

and then left Sophie single

Shrink down the main group to Sophie, Fitz, Biana, Keefe and Dex. (Maybe Linh and Tam)

However, all the rest of the side characters would pop in for important plot beats

Have one of the main kids' minds break

Have Alvar die in the troll goop so Fitz has to live with what he's done

Scrap the entire love triangle

never write a .5 book

Stop forcing all the girl characters to be self-proclaimed girl-bosses, and instead show why they're diverse and cool and powerful without drawing an unnecessary amount of attention to it

Answered what the Vacker Legacy was in book 7 when it was relevant

Would make it multi POV from the main group

well, if you want to talk about being unwell...Keefe. A rundown of my obsession with him below. let me ponder Cognatedom for a few more hours before making any decisions bc I'm ~indecisive~

I once went on a three-hour rant on a long car ride about his journey throughout the books, his flaws, his mistakes, and his perfections. Not to mention my extensive Word doc about his family life and his mother and her mysteries. And his bodyguard, annoying as she is sometimes. And his relationships with Fitz and Sophie and why it made the triangle so interesting.

I also wrote a 59-page long essay for my friend who doesn't like Keefe to read. It had all of the above mentioned, as well as my theories for Unraveled, his mental and emotional health, and his character development. The dynamics of his main fandom ships, his character arc through the books as well as how it will end, and just about everything you could think of to include :)

Kotlc collecting habits Pt.1

Basically what I think various kotlc characters (mostly the kids) would collect. other than prattles pins bc we all know everyone collects those so.

this is inspired by my own habits of picking random shit up and stuffing it in my closet.

Sophie: she doesn't rlly have the time to like exclusively go out and collect things she wants. I think she's rlly causal act what she keeps. if she see's a pretty rock? yoink. some nice smelling flowers? she'll pluck a few to maybe sundry when she's not busy saving the world lmao. I do think she would collect garden gnomes tho. Bc of mr. forkle's human house having the gnomes (the most weird or scary looking ones ofc, shoppes a weirdo 100%). It reminds her or her human past, and it also srsly weirds out like everyone who comes Havenfield which is is plus. Like just imagine a whole line of creepy ass gnomes lined up right outside havenfields entrance. She names them all too. they all human names ofc ofc. like bob. and carl. and other such things.

Keefe: I think he collects things based off of ppl if you know what I mean. Like he see's a bottle caps that reminds him of Sophie's exact eye color and adds it to his Sophie collection. Or if he see's like idk a purple rock that reminds him of like that one time Biana painted his nails the most vibrant and gaudy purple color she had, he adds it to his collection of things that remind him of Biana. maybe he adds little pieces of art he did for each person he collects stuff for. idk. Omg and maybe someday like he has all these collections and like the gang happens to fid out, and they start going through that shit. Keefe's so embarrassed and low-key scared they'll be mad, but they all love it. Fitz finally reunites with his long lost Bramble Jersey! Keefe immediately steals it back tho dw. he's such a people person fr. Especially bc of his empathy. He doesn't have collections for his parents. He used to for Gisela but when she was revealed to be a part of the never seen he showed her's into some dark corner of the house and hasn't looked back.

Biana: ikkkk ppl are gonna say that she collects hair pins and like jewelry and makeup and other stuff like that. And she does, She has an entire closet dedicated to dresses and shoes she has over the year. Like this is canonical. But her most prized and valued collection, is her stick collection. She has so many sticks. She has such stick fight vibes. She used to beat Keefe and fitz up with them. She organizes them by height. She lovingly pets them all. No one is allowed to touch her sticks. Biana = stick girl. One time when the gang was like idk practicing fighting with their bodyguards, she found the biggest most beautiful stick ever and literally screamed. No one knew why Biana, the girliest of girlies (said lovingly ily Biana) was so worked up over a stick. It's ok Biana, sticks r amazing fr.

Dex: I feel like before he became a techno path, he would collect like plant ingredients for different potions and elixirs needed at slurps and burps. He likes the idea of being useful, bc all his life he's been seen as a mistake. He's trying to prove his worth constantly. Kesler happened to ask him to get a like plant in front of a noble, and the noble complimented Dex on being such a good kid, so now he's like oh, I'm a good kid! which makes me so sad. But also he collects like useful things exclusively bc of the triplets. Like he can't bring shiny rocks or shells that he finds on the beach bc the triplets will get to it so fast that he won't even be able to like have a collection to adds things to. Instead, he collects pieces of scrap metal, herbs, wires, wood pieces, etc. so that he has the excuse of saying that this is material he needs for gadgets and elixirs and whatnot, so the triplets can't steal/break anything. he collects pens too( he is anti pencil).

Linh: Because of her being banshed for like 3+ years, I can't say that Linh is a big collector, neither is her brother. She didn't have the means to have things simply for enjoyment. Whatever little she owned went to keeping her and her brother alive and fed. It's hardcoded into to only take what she needs and nothing more bc of her previous life style. But now that she lives with Tiergan (NOT choralmere I REFUSE), I think she might start buying like little trinkets. Maybe stickers or small bracelets, or charms. keychains. Friendship necklaces. She would definitely buy lotttttts of excess things for princess purryfins. Like fancy collars, or little animal clothes. combs to brush her hair. Linh spoils her sm I swear. I wish is was Princess purryfins fr. I also think she would invest in a lottt of water proof clothing/goggles/etc. Like overly so. More than she needs. it's a way of calming her anxiety act her ability. Even if she messes up and loses control, at least she and everyone in Tiergan's house (I forgot what hi should is called) will stay dry. She hasn't fucked up completely.

Wow you’re so right. I think they overdid protection on Sophie a little and completely failed to even address the event with Dex. I don’t think it was good for either of them

One more reason to hate the Council: after the kidnapping in book 1, Dex was ignored. Sophie, who has multiple special abilities, was given protection. Dex was not and his nightmares, pain, etc. in the aftermath of the kidnapping were not addressed. He was basically told to move on while Sophie had constant reminders of the event every time she went out because elves were scared of her.
