The Shadows Take Family.

(Warning, this is an alternate universe horror story for Alan Wake 2. I wrote this and originally posted it in a google doc in the Remedy discord. My mutuals should all add me on discord I like talking about Alan Wake and nerd stuff on there.) "FBC Investigation Department Steven Yoke reporting in, Code 7721, More shadows have appeared, and I was sent to investigate." The agent spoke into the ham radio he had in his cabin.It was lit up like a christmas tree and unable to be invaded by the taken. Truthfully the taken were the least of his worries, he killed at least 3 of them when he had gotten here, using a flashlight and a suppressed HK USP to avoid any loud noises alerting the townsfolk. His fears weren’t about the Koskela’s or the taken but instead the cult. Steve though hadn't heard anything recently from the cult of the trees. Just some chatter that a possible leader in their organization had disappeared and was suspected to have become one of the taken. His suspects as to who were short in numbers, Blum, Ilmo, Jaako, Rose, fucking Pat Maine for all he knew. This town wasn't his favorite place to be stationed, the only good thing was the coffee, and even that seemed to be getting worse every time he was there. He would hear something outside of his cabin, a voice corrupted but recognizable from the advertisements in town, a leader in the two towns of Watery and Bright Falls. "And AlL BeCause of your SHIT COFFEE!" An originally humorous line corrupted by the Dark Presence taking him. It was Ilmo Koskela. "They got Ilmo Koskela, the shadows got Ilmo Koskela this is not a drill." He said grabbing his flashlight and gun getting ready to take out the taken, the broken deer mask half resting on Ilmo's face as Steven stepped out. "FBC FREEZE MOTHERFUCKER!" He said but before he could shoot, clonk, he was knocked out by something else from behind, he was dragged to the lake. MIA isn't too bad for a man who's probably never able to retire. He would still be reaching for his side arm besides the suppressed pistol, it was a Gen 2 Glock 35 which had a flashlight equipped to it. Before he could even try to shoot the taken though something else had happened. Ilmo and the Taken that trapped the agent both tried to drag him into the water, Ilmo quoting his ads some more. "It's not a-moosing!" As he was speaking more, and more getting close to the lake a powerful light was shown on the two, his brother Jaako wouldn't let him be corrupted for long, Two shots from a pump action shotgun rang out. Jaako got ready for the ritual to kill the taken. "I'm sorry brother." Jaako said as he grabbed the knife and drove it into his brother's chest slowly carving out his heart. It was the ritual, it was something Jaako hated doing to those he knew. But now they weren’t the locals, they were monsters. It sickened him that this was needing to happen but he understood why. "We watch from the trees, We fight the shadows!" The other cult members chanted as they took the heart out and placed it down on the table, pulling out a page of Hemingway's writing and replacing it with one from Rose about the brother dying a death to a cult. They put the clicker in the hole in his chest and clicked. Soon after they got ready for the next one, Jaako was still heart broken. All he hoped was that this would give his brother the rest he deserved.

no no but really, now that i'm already three drinks in tonight and just feel like sharing, there is just something about the koskela commercials that add to this weird sense of nostalgia when I play aw2, added in with just the general beautiful scenery, listening to the pat maine radio show and hearing filth by national nightmare in that early part of the game...it just makes bright falls feel like home in a way that i never quite expected, esp given that i never played any remedy verse game, let alone alan wake (though like many things i get utterly obsessed with, i was at one time exposed to it i think during the peak of my twin peaks hyperfixation), and to just have that much of a connection to a game i got into literally at the end of november (the 23rd of 2023 to be precise) and maybe it's just because i have been so desperate for an escape and that's what this game gave me and not just that, it has inspired me so much to the point where i'm fucking drawing again--something that i was like traumatically discouraged from at a much too early age--and giffing and making graphics and writing when i swore i never would again...just fuck man. i feel like i have a few "cornerstone" pieces of media that have impacted me on such a highly personal level to the point where they might even change me a little but this....alan wake, remedy-verse, ilkka, all of that is just......something special

Friday's spot electricity prices peaked at 45 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) around 9am, and prices will remain relatively high throughout the day, according to Iltalehti.

Päivi Suur-Uski of state-owned sustainable development company Motiva suggested running large household appliances, such as dishwashers after 9pm, when spot prices will drop to 20 cents per kWh.

Following a summer of exceptionally low prices for spot market electricity, prices began to fluctuate wildly in September.

Over the summer, spot prices even dipped into negative territory. In July, the average untaxed price hit a record-low of just 1.7 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), making it the cheapest in Europe for the first time.

Too much of a good thing?

Salmiakki, a candy known for its uniquely Finnish and often acquired taste, is making headlines not for its unusual flavour, but due to its potential health risks.

Helsingin Sanomat shares a dramatic case with readers about a patient who had developed life-threatening arrhythmia after consuming one to two small licorice bars a week.

It turned out that the arrhythmia was caused by the patient's low blood potassium levels, which were a result of licorice syndrome. This condition can lead to symptoms such as headaches or fluctuations in blood pressure.

Is it safe to eat licorice or salmiakki? HS asked HUS internist Laura Ollila.

"That's a good question, I no longer eat it," she said of the licorice root-derived treat, adding that people with hypertension should avoid licorice products as salmiakki can still raise blood pressure a week after entering your system.

However, Ollila noted that severe side effects of licorice are quite rare, but milder symptoms caused by the treat are "not at all rare".

Soaker weekend

It's going to be a soggy weekend, according to Hufvudstadsbladet, and meteorologists are forecasting up to 50 millimetres of rain on Friday alone.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has issued a rain warning for large parts of the country this the weekend.

An entire month's worth of rain may arrive over the next few days, HBL reported, citing weather service Foreca.

Foreca meteorologist Joonas Koskela said rain is expected to soak large parts of the country, from the southern areas all the way up to the top of Lapland.

Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

I prefer writing one-shots I think. My attention span isn't great so I often lose focus on projects partway through and grow to fucking hate them, which happened with a couple of my multi-chaptered fics a few years ago. So yeah, on the whole, I prefer writing shorter things.

15. How do you write smut scenes? Do you get very visual or detailed? How important is it to be realistic?

Hmm... I kind of just picture what I want to happen and then write it. Sometimes I have to look up sex positions and stuff to check it's, like, physically possible for this to work or whatever. I like adding realism into my smut, such as sexual dysfunction or nervousness or clumsiness, because it feels like a great way to get to know the characters better. But I'm also aware that a lot of realistic stuff is fucking boring to read, so I try to find a balance.

Semi-related, but I've been told in the past that my smut is super hot, which is amusing to me as a virgin who hasn't even kissed someone on the lips - so my research must have helped. 🤣

47. How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

I tend to edit as I'm writing, like fixing typos or rewriting scenes that I don't like. Once it's finished, I read through once to check for SPaG stuff that I missed (or the useless spell checker missed) and then just post it. 😂

73. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

I'm not sure. I wonder if being neurodivergent makes my writing different in any way? I include autistic characters in my writing a lot, which depending on the fandom, is quite rare and makes my works stand out. I guess I've also got a unique writing style like all people but I'm not sure if I could explain what makes it unique.

75. What scene in [Fanfic Name] took the longest to write? What was difficult about it?

You didn't give me a fanfic name, so I'll go with something from Teddy because it's the last thing I wrote. I really struggled with chapter 6, especially the scene where Theo apologises to Odin. It was really hard working out how mad to make Odin, and I struggled with their dialogue. I like to think I did okay in the end.

Angel Nation, the melodic metal band founded by the classically trained Finnish singer Elina Siirala (also in Leaves’ Eyes) just released a music video for ‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’, the second single from their new album Antares. Antares will be released on CD and digital on April 8 and on limited vinyl on June 3 via Inner Wound Recordings. Elina Siirala of Angel Nation comments on the single: “‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’ tells a creepy tale of a dangerous obsession! Finnish Rioghan is set to release her debut album Different Kinds Of Losses later in 2022 via Inverse Records. The album has been made in collaboration with Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Einar Solberg (Leprous), Teemu Liekkala (ex-Manufacturer’s Pride, Red Eleven) and Teemu Koskela (ex-Celesty). The first single ‘Breath’ is put now with a music video. Rioghan comments on the single: “This song really speaks to me in a personal level, as I have wrote the original poem in a pretty dark place, and somehow me and Teemu captured the essence of it musically too, a lot of polarity, ups and downs and finally some gruesome beauty in acceptance. I was like “what if the Koskelas did a Wilkins and Wontkins commercial?” And then I was like “wait, that’s already their commercials.”
