This picture of kori in the last post is sending me
She looks so silly dkkskskdkd.
Speaking of kori (also hey I had an mc called cori that's cool!) when do her and cove get together? Is it in the step 2 epilogue with the confession or during the charity confession?
Also unrelated to Kori but what do you mind going more into depth on your thoughts for both Derek and Baxter dlcs? I love discussions around their dlcs I wish people would genuinely talk more about itz going into depth into the themes of the dlcs and how they affect Derek and Baxter as characters, but then again I'm someone who loves analyzing the media they consume so djdkdkjd. General discussions about these things drive me crazy (I think is worth mentioning that I'm autistic so djdkdk)
Your art is also very lovely I loved watching your doodles, you're one of the artists I always look forward to to get a notification from 🫶
THATS ALOT OF QUESTIONS YOU GOT THERE BUDDY,,,,
Im kidding tho it's appreciated nonetheless ^_^
SO FIRST OF ALL THANKS FOR LIKING MY ART 🥹🥹🥹 i try my best to make time for drawing my silly our life doodles despite being busy in college and i appreciate anyone who rlly enjoys my dumb doodles of my ol mc shenanigans
Answering the confession question, they confess at the end of step 3 cause i thought the slowburn was fun 😇
I actually drew their first kiss right here
Now with the derek and baxter dlc question,,,
So fun fact! With how i played the the dlcs over all me and my friend Lo (@/oiulse) would choose which boy to play the dlc and stream it on call, so Lo picked Baxter and i took Derek, it was really funny cause casual constantly played in our heads during the Baxter dlc (bless lo btw for gifting me both dlcs labyu oomf 🫰)
With how i feel with BOTH dlcs
For my boy Derek Suarez
When i played the first moment from dereks dlc my voice started like acting up from how long THAT specific moment was, maybe its just me but the first moment in particular felt really long, I get it though its the first time ur meeting the suarez family and in no way did i NOT enjoy it, but there were indeed moments where im like DAMN ITS STILL NOT OVER cause of how tired my voice was getting LMFAO, all the other moments were rlly fun my favorite one from the dlc was where u hang out with liz on daddy day and there was an option to gift a card to cliff 🥹, his step 4 was also a bunch of fun i loved the family bonding get to do with the suarez brothers (u can just tell that i love family aus) and getting to hang out with derek made me love him more as a chr, HIS STEP 4 VOICE IS STILL A JUMPSCARE TO ME FROM HOW DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT IT IS (no hate to the va btw) STILL VERY FUNNY THOUGH HAHAHA, i made it so that Derek, kori and cove get to be neighbors before the both of them get married so now they hang out LOTS
With THE Baxter FUCKING Alexander Ward
I heard from another friend that the baxter's dlc was gonna be angsty and i was like oh hell fuckin yeah i love angst! AND THERE CERTAINLY WAS ANGST ILL TELL U THAT MUCH, since i was watching lo play through the Baxter dlc i will admit there were a few times where i spaced out cause ANOTHER fun fact, we played the dlcs like really late on my timezone so i was either drawing while Lo was playing or i was in the brink of conking the fuck out, i was able to know what was going on overall i think the ONLY moment i like fully spaced out on was when the mc and baxter were like out drinking or smth and there was this entire thing with the bartender and the singer, that specific scene in particular i was fully focusing on smth else and it wasnt till later that when i played the baxter dlc for myself that i knew what was finally going on, since me and lo have our castaways au to think abt while playing these dlcs we were building aus upon aus of what lo's mc would do when meeting with baxter again after 5 years its fun lo has never been the same since and neither have i, the angst was good soup and i can see why baxter's dlc was more expensive than derek's LMFAO
But ironically enough the dlc that made me cry was DEREKS DLC,,, that moment on the step 4 epilogue with the brothers having a heart to heart is going to be MY ROMAN EMPIRE, I FUCKING LOVE FAMILIES BRO GAUGHHHH
Anyways sorry that was unnecessarily long i could have organized my thoughts more but i dont have the patience for that so i hope u dont mind that all my thoughts and feelings were all over the place hahaha
In conclusion the dlcs was a nice content buffet 👍

hi! i'm diana (aka cal), and this is in bullet points because i like bullet points okay
i'm 18, indian, feminist, an LGBTQIA+ ally, and in love with stories.
my original online nickname was Diana Black (i was thirteen when i came up with it) but now most of my friends just call me cal. take your pick, i love both names.
some fandoms i'm in: harry potter, riordanverse (i've read it all), brooklyn99, the good place, the bone season, throne of glass, ascendance, cyoa
main ships atm are jily and percabeth, but i also love solangelo and rowaelin and peraltiago and (basically 90% of the canon ships in any media i've consumed. i love love.)
while i post a lot of hp related stuff, i despise jkr with my whole heart. trans people ily and i hate that you have to deal with that bigoted piece of shit.
well written jily fic is my sustenance. some people i'd read ANYTHING from: (ao3) ghostofbambi, apalapucian, cgner, lizardcookie, my friend terrie.
still wishing for an update of tlat, and doing my biannual rereads in the meantime. (what a masterpiece.)
feel free to ask me for fic recs, or send me random asks related to fandom, i'll be nice if you are!
@kailandpumpkins <- this is kail, my best friend and one of the best bits of my life. boop.
@shestrying <- this is dana, she's my actual soulmate and i love her.
@stedewards <- this is terrie, my book buddy and the godparent of all my original characters. they get credit for every bit of writing i have ever done (and will ever do).
i love love love the jily community here on tumblr (and the discord server- @jilymicrofics is the place to ask if you want to join). everyone i've interacted with so far has been so damn sweet, it's unreal. they're half the reason i'm inspired to write jily these days.
english music loves are taylor swift, jax, alec benjamin, alan walker, maisie peters, hozier, sabrina carpenter, and the old barbie animated movie albums.
telugu music loves are (the albums of the films:) hi nanna, majili, oopiri, oh baby, geetha govindam, ala vaikunthapurramulo, maharshi, ninnu kori, 100% love, seetamma vakitlo, bommarillu, mr perfect, mirchi, janatha garage, rrr, nuvvosthaanante nenoddantaana, love story, kshanakshanam, jersey, ready, orange, manmadhudu, happy, magadheera (aight there's way too much more so i'm stopping here)

(indian music artists) special mention to shreya ghoshal, chinmayi, A R rahman, and raghu dixit.
phew. that was a lot on music but like. i'm almost always humming or listening to music so it fits. i've only mentioned artists and albums above, but there's so many more individual songs that own my heart (in all the above languages.) maybe i'll make a list someday. or share a properly organised playlist? (all my current playlists are chaos lol) we'll see. anyway.
don't be mean to my mutuals, or i will come after you with a pitchfork.
i don't have a proper tagging system on my blog. i used to keep wanting to create one, but i know i won't keep up with it, so i've made peace with that now. i usually do tag posts that i make (especially if they contain sensitive information).
i might be delayed in replying to messages, asks, or tags, but i promise it's not personal!!! my People Interaction Energy has a mind of its own, and i often just don't have it in me to answer in the moment. I don't like half hearted replies, so i leave it until i do have the energy to reply and actually enjoy the interaction.

Kordelia Wickham
“If you’re both finished,” Lisette spoke sternly, “We should continue with our stories.”
Alfie and Bristol pouted, angling away from each other slightly. Snickering over their behaviour, Kendrick blew out his candle.
“Kenny, you haven’t told your story yet!!” Cherry chimed in.
“Oh!! Sorry! Um…” His panicked eyes found Cedric’s. “I did kinda tell a story…it wasn’t a complete one, but…does it count?”
The older man closed his eyes. For the minute they all waited, they could sense a soothing aura swimming, circling around him. “It is accepted.”
“Ah, cool.” He turned. “Your turn then, Miss Kory.”
Silently, she nodded.
***
Once upon a time, a girl’s older sister disappeared. The girl searched and searched for her sister, but to no avail. The sister was gone.
Gossip and rumours spread about where this social media star disappeared to. Through the girl’s struggle, she managed to keep those fans appeased, but the flimsy excuses were but a bandage for the problem.
After extensive research, the girl learned where her sister was spirited away. But how could she rescue her from that place?
The girl’s closest friend, Starr, began to worry about her, as she was pulling away from her life and her health was rapidly declining. Starr reached out and offered support and, though it was difficult to open up about, the girl confessed the dark arts in which she’d been delving.
She had expected Starr to turn her back, shut her out, disappear from her life similar to her sister. But no. Her friend believed her, and chose to submerge into the supernatural dangers at her side.
Through tribulations, the two girls came across one of the most precarious, but more accessible of the forbidden, items that could assist them: an old spellbook in a special library outside the country. They took the first plane there, and ended up having to steal it to access the contents that could save the sister.
The girl was much too afraid to hold onto the book herself, so Starr kept ownership of it until they could figure out how to utilize it properly.
Then, one day when the girl was in trouble, Starr came to her aid using an incredible magic from within the book. When asked about how she was capable of performing such feats, the friend confessed that she had made a contract with the book and it was assisting her as she assisted the girl. It was simple, she had stated. Easy. Natural.
What Starr didn’t reveal was a deadly curse burned over her heart that would slowly consume her body in blackness until she, herself, vanished completely.
That was, until she could no longer conceal the mark from the girl.
There was no argument from the revelation—merely a plethora of fretting over Starr’s safety. But the friend reassured the girl that everything would be fine, and she wouldn’t be vanishing without finding the sister first.
Only a few months passed. The curse mark devoured Starr’s skin as she gained more and more expertise with the book and combatted the demonic entity within it. But everything was alright, and they were making progress, and Starr reassured the girl that she was completely capable of handling the situation.
Then, one day, when the girl was asleep, Starr appeared before her in a strange dream. Tearful farewells and apologies were exchanged as the friend was swallowed in the very darkness of dreams itself.
When she awoke, the girl found her older sister, standing in the living room blogging as if nothing happened.
But Starr was nowhere to be found. No calls answered, no texts read, no knocks attended to. And whisked away with her was all memory of her existence.

Barbara Gordon fans who don’t interact with her whole history always amuse me. “Well Oracle is better anyway” I agree, but just because she’s better as Oracle doesn’t mean that her history with everyone else should be ignored because she drastically changes other characters’ histories when you do. Dick Grayson has like 80 years of comic history that gets ignored for Barbara Gordon. Suddenly Barbara is the best friend. Barbara is the one that he’s always loved. Barbara is the one he can confine in despite their Robin and Batgirl days being very few issues with hardly any substance. And any actual in issue problem where Dick actually shows interest in other women that aren’t Barbara are ignored. The majority of DB shippers are Barbara Gordon fans which means it is easy for them to ignore a majority of Dick’s history and it is easy to see why he’s seen as the catch, he’s the ONLY love interest Barbara Gordon fans care about (despite her being interested and even married to other people) because of his popularity but also because Chuck Dixon specifically wanted to write Dick as a heartthrob (he said this in an interview) because it was what woman liked therefore any actually issues that Dick went through or anything that made actually layered and a fleshed out character got chucked out the window.
They always forget that Dick’s best friend is Donna and Wally, Dick’s always loved Kory, Dick is so much more than his relationship with Barbara as Barbara is so much more than her relationship with Dick
They intertwine these two characters with each other so much in the comics and then the bat fandom makes it so much worse to the point where it’s disappointing to even consume the media cuz it just feels forced
And don’t even get me started on the whole “batfamily”. While the concept is cute, it’s only cute in fanon because making Barbara Dick’s best friend/lover erases his actual family which is the teen titans. It ruins everything Dick became after he was shoved out by Bruce with the Titans and just regresses his character so badly.
Dick is more than Barbara Gordon. Dick is more than Bruce’s “son”. Dick is more than Robin. He’s Dick Grayson, leader of the teen titans, best friend of Donna and Wally, lover of Koriand’r. He’s Nightwing. He’s been Nightwing for a long time, people need to realize this

People be saying the most racist sexist horrendous shit about fictional characters and then be like "relax they aren't real teehee".
Like good for y'all but the people reading your disgusting headcanons are real so what now? You can "have fun" without being offensive and horrible. No, I as a rape victim, don't find reading rape fantasies about Kory fun it just makes me side-eye the people doing it. No, I don't find people saying Amber Bennett should be hung by a noose good innocent fun. No, I didn't shrug it off when people said Bonnie Bennett is only useful if she's dying for her white friends and followed that up with fanfics of her dying over and over and over...
Nothing people like this say erases the fact there are real people consuming media. You see enough people say things about fictional BW and it becomes obvious that's how they feel about us in real life...that's the problem.
I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:
Fictional characters are objects.
They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.

I have many thoughts on the weird phenomena in the DC fandom and the Batfam fandom specifically where probably the majority of people just straight up. haven’t interacted with the source material. and almost all of those thoughts can be summarized as ‘lmao that’s weird and mildly concerning’.
and because I’m annoying I will list them all here right now <3
1. To preface this post, I mean, obviously, comics are inaccessible as all hell, both in the disability kind of way and the ‘you need to understand the concept of hypertime to fully comprehend the DC timeline’ kind of way. Because of this, even if you don’t have a disability that prevents you from reading comics, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at the amount of comics you need to read to have even a base understanding of a character and go ‘no thanks <3′ and just enjoy fanart and fanfic in a vacuum. Ultimately, this is fandom, this is supposed to be fun, it doesn’t really matter.
2. That said, it’s VERY weird to me that the majority of this fandom just straight up hasn’t interacted with the source material, and moreover, that it’s considered rude to tell people that they should do so. It’s especially weird considering the amount of fanon-only fans I’ve seen who straight up have a superiority complex over canon. The idea that it’s gatekeeping to tell fans of something to actually interact with canon is just. so weird, and a fundamental misunderstanding of what ‘gatekeeping’ actually entails.
3. But honestly I’m less interested in discussing the ways in which canon and fanon fans should interact with each other (personally, I think it would be helpful to create separate tags of some kind, but that’d require quite a big overhaul of the current fandom state) than in figuring out how this actually happened in the first place. On the one hand, it’s obvious; long-running superhero comics the way DC writes them have made themselves so thoroughly inaccessible that most people are simply too daunted to even try. Most media has a cohesive beginning and end (or at least, a planned end somewhere). Comics just... don’t.
But I do think it says something that, even among people who are clearly interested in the characters (since they have, you know, entire blogs about them), the effort to get into comics just seems to be too much to even bother. This really doesn’t bode well for the future of DC Comics. Obviously, I am no expert on anything at all ever, but I’d personally be surprised if DC survives beyond the few decades, at least in its current form/without a big overhaul.
4. But on the other hand, I don’t think the confusing state of DC Comics is the only thing to blame here. Fandom has a well-known problem with reducing any character down to archetypes to more easily ship and write fic/make content with. This problem is particularly prominent in fanfic, which, if you read enough of it, you’ll eventually start seeing not just the same tropes and trends, but essentially the same fics over and over again. And not just within the same fandom; everywhere, or every large fandom, at least.
Fanon Batfam is entirely built on a bunch of those tropes; insecure/depressed sadboy Tim, team mom with optional hidden trauma/emotional problems Dick, bad boy with a heart of gold + sadboy combo Jason, abused sadboy Damian/angry easily-villified-for-fic-reasons monster Damian, good dad Bruce for found family fic and bad dad Bruce for angst fic, etc. This all culminates in a found family dynamic that’s generic and malleable to whatever fic the writer wants to write.
(This isn’t getting into the ship fic, which I avoid like the plague because the vast majority of it is incest, but I’d bet real actual money that the tropes in those fics fall under what is often preferred by the Migratory Slash Fandom.)
By having a decent excuse not to get into canon (the inaccessibility of comics) and a, by now, well-established fanon fandom, many fans feel free to use the batfam fandom as essentially an excuse to write whatever fic with reduced archetypes and tropes they personally feel the itch to write, without having to bother with even consuming a canon. This is compounded by the fact that canon itself is often contradictory and frankly bad, meaning that whatever interpretation of a character you want/need to go for your fic is at least theoretically backed up by canon (for example, you can just as easily cast Bruce as an abusive shithole dad who his kids need to get away from as a loving father figure who cares deeply for his children), which you can always use as a defense if people question your characterization.
5. This focus on fandom trends and tropes over actual creativity or care for the characters is also visible in the way bigotry manifests in this fandom; namely, in literally the exact way you’d expect. The female characters and characters of colour are shuffled to the side, non-existent, vilified, and/or reduced to harmful stereotypes.
Barbara is probably the one I saw the most often in fanfic, but usually just as ‘Dick’s girlfriend’, and even then, she was often vilified for Dick angst (especially in fics about examining Dick’s trauma from his canon sexual assault; Kori also often gets the short end of the stick in those). After that, probably Stephanie, who fanon fans don’t really seem to know what to do with, so she’s basically just there as comic relief waffle girl, most of the time, though sometimes she can be used to either further Tim angst or further vilify Tim, whatever the fic calls for. Cass has gotten included more in batfam fics as of late, likely in response to critiques of fandom racism for leaving her out, but again, it’s clear people don’t actually know what to do with her. She’s often reduced to a racist stereotype of a quite, stoic therapist for whatever guy du jour needs it. That, or she’s in Hong Kong and just not there. Duke especially gets left in the dust in fandom, usually just being non-existent, but when he’s there, he’s almost always nothing more than the straight man for the actual fun characters to play off of. Talia probably has it the worst, though, and almost universally gets vilified by fanon stans in order to write sadboy Damian.
All of this is extremely predictable behaviour and falls entirely in line with general fandom misogyny and racism; ignoring or vilifying women and characters of colour, or using them as very minor characters at best. The only two characters of colour who aren’t regularly left out of fic are Dick and Damian, who are both also conveniently the two characters most often drawn and written in a whitewashed manner. In addition, there’s a real trend of demonizing Damian in fanon fics where he isn’t written as an abused sadboy, which I’d argue is in no small part due to fandom racism, considering Damian’s behaviour is in no way as bad as Jason’s, who doesn’t get anywhere close to the same demonization and gets woobiefied instead. I also find it convenient that Damian is probably the batboy who receives the most vilification in fic, when he’s the most obviously non-white of the batboys they’re willing to acknowledge.
Fandom often cries for more diversity in canon, only to ignore the diversity already there and focus on the same generic white guys. The batfam fandom is a brilliant example of this.
Which is not to say that fandom racism and misogyny isn’t present in the canon parts of the fandom (and canon itself); it absolutely 100% is. But I’ve found that canon fans are also more likely to like and care about at least one of the characters I’ve listed as ignored/vilified, and are willing to create and consume content for them, whereas fanon fans... aren’t, really. I’ve never seen a fan of fanon Cass the way I’ve seen fans of fanon Dick, for example. Obviously, this could just be by coincidence, or I’ve just surrounded myself with people like that, but it’s been a trend I noticed. Racism and misogyny is present in every part of this fandom and should be addressed as such, but I feel like it manifests the most blatantly in the fanon parts of this fandom.
(I’d also recommend the articles Migratory Slash Fandom’s Focus and Beige Blank Slates, which expand more on the type of fandom racism I think is especially prominent in the batfam fandom, as well as literally every article in the What Fandom Racism Looks Like series.)
6. All this leads me to conclude that the majority of fanon fans don’t actually like the characters all that much; they’re convenient excuses for them to participate in fandom. Which I also think is, in no small part, a reason why so many of them react so negatively to being told to pick up a comic; they came to this fandom specifically to consume it as a fandom, because they wanted the fandom experience without having to consume a canon.
This is not a phenomena unique to the batfam fandom (again, see the Migratory Slash Fandom), but it does fascinate me. While fandom is often said to be an experience focusing on transformative art, I think it’s also safe to say that, especially as fandom has become more mainstream, an increasing amount of people are looking to it less as a way to engage with their favourite pieces of media, and more as a type of media in and of itself. I think the reasons for this are similar to the reasons mass media entertainment like the MCU are so popular; you gain a lot of enjoyment out of it with very little risk involved.
By consuming the same fics of the same characters (or the same archetypes) over and over again, you are rarely at risk of being challenged or even disappointed. It’s often very clear right from the start whether or not a fic will appeal to you, and if it isn’t, it’s easy to just look for another one. It requires less emotional investment than most other types of media, even ‘popcorn media’ like the MCU - or, yes, DC Comics. It’s safe, it’s enjoyable, it’s comforting, like McDonalds, but just like McDonalds, it’s ultimately bland and unsubstantial.
7, TL;DR. Ultimately, I don’t think it’s like, wrong to enjoy the fanon version of the batfam without wanting to engage with canon, and I certainly don’t think it’s okay to harrass people over it. But I do think it’s in large part based on a desire to interact with fandom rather than other pieces of media because people are scared of being let down by those pieces of media (or worse, just uninterested in actually thinking), which is mildly concerning.
#long post#my posts#infodumping#btw i say this as someone who also has trouble consuming much more than popcorn media/fanfic due to emotional exhaustion#but it's not a healthy habit and it's something people can and should try to break out of#also obviously this isn't about EVERY fanon fan specifically so if this doesn't apply to you specifically great then move on

For the ship rating thing (not doing Titian's characters cause your chart is perfection and I'm trying to do stuff you haven't really drawn)
Jason X Roy X Kori
Clark X Lex
Dinah X Hal X Ollie
Jason X Roy X Kori
Squick / Just nope / A trainwreck you can’t look away from / Mehh but they are bloody everywhere / Not interested but no negative feelings / I need to see how I could make it work / BroTP / Cute / I love them / They rented a room in my mind and are here to stay
dude im sorry ive gotta be honest this is a NOTP jsdakljdlask like I get the appeal but the kory jason roy dynamic and the characterizations of kory & roy in rhato are just so far removed from how I picture these characters that the pairing holds no appeal for me.
This ship also doesn’t work for me in the sense that like ntt was my first exposure to these character and when kory & roy first met jason back then he was like twelve and they were adults. He was the kid brother of their boyfriend & friend. So pairing them off together with that context doesn't make any sense personally. Its just not romantically compelling & comes off a bit weird?
(if rhato was its own isolated thing and kory and roy were never in comics before that maybe i could get on board or at least approach neutrally, but alas they are not and here we are, with me steadfast in my dislike)
Aaaaaand honestly it doesn't help none that my favorite ships are dickkory and dickroy lmao
Clark X Lex
Squick / Just nope / A trainwreck you can’t look away from / Mehh but they are bloody everywhere / Not interested but no negative feelings / I need to see how I could make it work / BroTP / Cute / I love them / They rented a room in my mind and are here to stay
OKAY okay so I think they're a fun villain superhero pair up like as characters they bounce well off each other and can be good foils for each other yada yada yada characters good & fun but romantically? Not tooo many thoughts and I def need to read more superman comics but well I enjoy it and I think it can be a really compelling pairing at times.
Like as a result of the first superman media I ever consumed being smallville and superman: birthright I have a huge soft spot for versions of the superman origin story where clark and lex were friends when they were kids. Theres a lot of angst potential there (which im a sucker for) and I just love the whole we could be friends!! if you weren't such a dipshit asshole thing they have going on. Meet me at the horizon
Damian has spent nearly three hours inside the meeting room of one of the biggest companies of the Eastern Coast, Wayne Enterprises, the silence was strong after several hours discussing the approval of new projects, majority of them Proposed by Timothy Drake. Tim was a genius in Computer Engineering and Technologies, currently working with Lucious Fox. He just graduated and was already making money developing enterprise digital assistance apps and what not for the company. Unfortunately the silence lasted less than two deep breaths as the board directors, shareholders, his siblings and even his own father were exchanging goodbyes and handshakes, scheduling the next meeting already. His father had promised to take Helena shopping with Selina. His adoptive siblings stayed in the meeting room, deciding to have a much-deserved break, to catch up with their daily activities.
Damian frowned unconsciously, his head was throbbing with the surge of scenes in his head. The scenes he was so used to see in his dreams for the last nine months, but the last three months have been assaulting him any moment of the day, especially close to his eldest brother Richard. The meeting seemed to have opened a door to these dreams and this talk about opening an office in Jump city was making it worse. Jump City. He had the vague sensation he’d been there before...
Tim, Richard and Duke seemed to be too busy speaking about the next big game of Gotham Knights, the hockey team, to notice his troubled expression. They mumbled something about asking Jason to slow down from his intense sportbike racer life and watch the game all together. Damian didn’t bother listening to the rest, he was attacked by images of that younger version of himself in some kind of flashy vigilante costume fighting criminals.
“We should go to the game this weekend. The girl I’m seeing now, Kori said she was interested in learning about traditional sports. She’s been in Gotham for six months now. She’s very enthusiastic about cultural learning.” Richard suggested with a wide smile to his siblings completely excited. Eyes like wildfire lit with the spark of life. He hadn’t met Dick’s girlfriend but he looked happier than he’s ever seen him in years.
“Are you joining, D or you’ve got a date?” Duke asked with a teasing tone in his sardonic voice.
Damian did not retribute the smile his adoptive brother gave him, trying to mask his still throbbing head. He looked at him, threatening gaze was a subtle warning. He didn’t know why this was happening that day, but the talk about Jump City and Dick’s new girlfriend were just bringing more of those images. Most of them weren’t good ones. Gory, brutal, bloody. He liked more the ones that seemed to joyful. The ones with that girl.
“He barely seem to have time to meet someone. He’s a workaholic.” it was Tim who answered with an amused smile on his lips, masking an exhausted mien.
“At this pace he’s close enough to become a celibate monk.” Duke joked elbowing Tim lightly, who laughed in response.
“I tried to set him up with some girls, but I almost end up with a broken jaw.” Dick shrugged slightly as he told them with details how Damian had turned down Kara Danvers, Tim’s girlfriend’s best friend. Admittedly she was a nice-looking woman but not the one he desired.
Damian decided to ignore the moronic comments about his love life from his siblings.
Storming out of the meeting room without uttering a single word. They knew nothing about his romantic life. Tsk. A breath of fresh is what he required, lost in consuming thoughts about the girl.
People form the company knew him as the extremely professional boss that run his department with an almost iron fist, he was fair though, accepting the situation of people that worked under him, but he didn’t accept people trying to take advantages or lacking in his services. And he was indeed workaholic.
The media knew him as the ‘Ice Prince of Gotham’, the young heir that was always looking serious, with a cold aura around him, with no type of relationships or scandals so far. He didn’t have the bad boy aura like Jason, ‘chicks’ seemed to dig it as Duke would crudely express. He appeared distant of people out of his inner circle. However, women followed him like bees to flowers in order to collect nectar.
It was just his Wayne charm he couldn’t turn off, regardless of the situation. Like his father, Damian just attracted female attention like a magnet. But no girlfriend. He's had the odd fling here and there but nobody has ever really caught his eye and he's incredibly busy he hasn't the time to feel that maybe he's missing out. Until he saw her.
All his time, attention and passion have been poured into his work. Not that he loved it exactly but he's never been one to do things by halves. Of course he made time to spend quality time with his family, after all, little Helena was barely ten years old. Perky and tireless, too smart for her age if he added. EHis youngest sister.
He was also known in the sports world as one of the most skilled people on the art of the traditional sword fighting and martial arts. He didn’t know where this passion for sword fighting began, although he would bet all his money that it had something to do with his strange recurrent dreams.
Although his life was satisfactory in his personal view, he always felt as if something was missing. He felt as lonely as the teenager in his dreams when the girl was not around him. She was missing.
Why this bothered him so much, he couldn’t find a logical reason that made any sense. It was just a simple dream, and that girl wasn’t much more than that. A dream. But why he felt that way? That need to look around every time he was in a place full of people hoping to get a glimpse of those shinning amethyst eyes looking at him like she did in his dreams with such profound emotion. Or his necessity to look for her around the world as if he was sure he could find her. She was etched in his bones, buried in down his bronze skin, burning in his chest leaving him out of breath. The images were flooding his mind again. More than absurd dreams, they were a recollection of memories...from a different lifetime perhaps.
They had something briefly, he gathered from the persistent dreams. It was intense, passionate. It was only something he could describe as love. But suddenly they parted ways, forced to be away from the other. They lost contact. The images were so vivid. They felt so real. A first last kiss filled with sorrow, powerlessness, genuine affection. It was carved into his mind until he memorized it. That moment. The warmth and scent of her breath put him in an hypnotic daze. Her lips parted softly, and he could taste faint traces salt from her tears when her soft lips pressed against his. He could feel lightning coursing through his veins, as if his entire world had been set ablaze only lasting seconds. Then it was gone. The ghost of a promise of a second chance. He’d grown tired of waiting for her to appear before his eyes. Every damn second felt like an eternity in itself. With every passing moment, his patience waned a little more and his heart sank a little further.
The haunting pain, endless longing, fear of losing her, the regret of leaving her behind first. They were all real. It was a silent torture.
At first, foolishly he believed these feelings would eventually fade and he would no longer be haunted by her phantom presence. Only memories he thought as he closed his emerald eyes. And her pale, heart-shaped, beautiful face flitted across his mind. Damian had spent his entire life being in control. But every time he met her in his dreams, he seemed to lose his grasp on his emotions, his life, and sometimes, even his destiny. He had to find her.
The wind howling through halls of old memories, piercing through solitude, skin and bone until there’s nothing but heavy emotions and melancholy. Walking with a heart that’s taken too many hits, never too fragile but refusing to be held in the hands of another’s that don’t belong to hers. In his chest remained an ache, a longing for what was or could have been. What he let slip.
“I am sorry we did not have time, Raven.” He mumbled almost in a whisper to nothingness. It felt like a heartfelt apology a thousand years too late. Maybe more or less. A lifetime too late. If their hearts and destiny were entwined surely they would find their back to each other no matter what. Damian carried that hope in his heart, always his constant companion. If He were to walk to the ends of the earth and waited for her on the horizon after the sun has set, would she be there? At the point where the land and sky meets. Could they be together once again?
Raven. The girl. He thought of her during the long hours between dusk and dawn, as he ate dinner alone or read next to the window. She was an ever present fixture in his mind and never more so than today. He considered what he might say to her once he found her, but what rational excuse could he offer to a stranger? He doubted she would find comfort in the ridiculous phrases he might string together about meeting in a past lifetime or those dreams. What if she had them too? If it wasn’t some breathtakingly realistic illusion and she was so where in this city or Jump City or anywhere else looking for him. It was silly to entertain such notions, he knew it well. But that didn’t stop his mind from wandering from time to time when he found a poignant passage of poetry that tugged at his heart, or a new book that fascinated him. She loved books how he knew that, he was not sure. What he wouldn’t give to have long days spent indulging their mutual passion for literature, poetry, history and ancient languages.
He’s been walking around for longer than he imagined, looking at his watch it’s last 6:00 pm. It was out of instinct or some magnetic pull forcing his body to look at the flower shop, whatever universal spirit or energy did it. He was thankful. The shop was tiny, a sliver of space between a cafe and bookstore, and would have disappeared into the surrounding stone and woodwork had it not been for the white and lavender exterior. Eyes quickly scanning surroundings. It was exquisite and untamed, thorny blackberry brambles mingle with fresh citrusy kumquats wrapped languidly around overhanging light fixtures for a wild, yet utterly magnificent and unique look. It had a three-panel glass window boasting an avant-garde display of blush dahlias, blizzard hydrangeas, soft purple lilacs, a mixture of green stems and leaves that balanced everything out. He had been here before but never spotted the shop. The shop was definitely new and if Damian hadn’t known this neighborhood so well, the faint smell of fresh paint would have given it away.
Her hair was a deep navy blue sprinkled with white, like starlight in winter. Her heart-shaped had matured beautifully, moonlight skin. She was a flashing star born with striking surreal violet orbs. She was holding astilbe flowers in white and soft pink. She set the flowers on the counter carefully, her fingers hovering in the space around them, like she wanted to guard them, to protect every petal from the possibility of being crushed. As if they were more than blooms of colour, like there were uniquely cherishable aspects to each one that is not present in the next. He could see that type of caring in her. This was his Raven. This can’t be real, Right? The world wouldn’t be this cruel to him, playing mind tricks on him. She was here. O
Damian thought of every slow-motion, heart-stopping, head-spinning scene in every romance movie or show or novel and how he’d always assumed they were stupid, nothing but rubbish. But here he was standing astonished literally staring at the woman of his dreams. Speak with her. Just hear her low and calming voice. That was all his mind would permit him to focus on, the single-minded determination to see her again.
He moved with driving purpose, his legs propelling him to go inside the little store and tell her everything about his dreams, recollection of old memories. The thought crossed his mind so briefly he scarcely dwelt on it, but that was how it had been for him in the months since dreaming of Raven. His pace slowed as he was stopped by the entrance door, opening it slowly, willing his heart to steady the gallop rhythm of its beats. The sun was shining brightly through the shop’s windows, soft classical music played through the serene and scented atmosphere.
The anticipation rushing through his veins felt like burning his tongue on Earl Grey too hot-tea a chilly rainy day, a dry mouth after sleepless night tossing and turning because other side of his bed looked too empty, trees in the park swayed and shuddered by the afternoon air before lighting fractures the sky and shakes earth, like he’s been waiting a million of breaths for this moment. In his twenty-one years of existence never experienced this wild and frantic emotion.
He swallowed around a very dry throat when he let the door swing shut behind him as his short, hesitant strides brought him directly up to the counter. Now they were face to face. Mustering the courage to say anything. Anything that dint make her think he was insane. But when his gaze met hers. Damian found himself awe-struck by the intensity behind familiar amethyst eyes. The stars couldn’t compare. The world and moon would crumble away. The sun would collapse into itself at this dazzling and glorious constellation that she was. Lilac pools hiding something mystic and ancient in their depth.
She leaned in closer to him in such a natural way, raising her head just to meet his. Her smile was sincere and expectant, pupils blown wide, but they’re focused, dark and determined, nearly drowning out the violet glint of her irises. His lips ached to reach for hers in a hungry kiss but refrained. Speechless, heart pounding in chest, peculiar fluttering sensation in his stomach, waiting for her to speak. Finally she took a deep and long breath before whispering. “Hello Damian. It’s been quite a long time.”
I rewrote this and hope you all like it. I can’t find it in me to update stories right now but have this short prompt. Specially written for @chromium7sky @ravenfan1242 @xaphrin @alerialblu @niahti and all my friends and readers. Also no shit the most famous Titans ship is the most talked about. They assumed things would be different because Kory is black so his relationship with the WW on the show would be the focus. Too bad.
As for Limoreau people are allowed to find them more interesting if they want. And people are allowed to care about romance more than platonic ships if they want. You don’t get to dictate how people consume media or what they prefer.
No one ever complains when it’s a ship they approve of. Which always happens to be a ship with 2 white people. ~By coincidence~
When people complain about Titans fans caring more about romance than the important stuff (as if romance isn't important especially on effing tumblr) I know damn well they're talking about dickkory because for the most part that was the only romantic relationship anyone gave a fuck about on that show. Sorry, but it's true. Very very sick of a certain type of relationship being celebrated being such a damn problem for a fandom, a few are saying the same thing about Limoreau already too and it's very very tired.

I’d like it if more people understood that we have free will when it comes to entertainment. You’re not being tied to a chair by showrunners and being forced to watch a show you don’t like, or characters that you don’t like (for petty reasons).
If you don’t ‘like’ Kory or Jason or Rachel for some weird or personal reason, simply tune out. Or don’t watch Titans altogether. You’re actually FREE to do so.
But don’t come on in creative, constructive spaces to hammer the show, or other fans for liking or supporting various characters. I suppose you all know people are FREE to like whichever character they like.
Stop being crybabies over things you have no power or authority over. Take up your fights with showrunners if you must. After all, it’s they who are in charge. But I doubt they will care to bow to every whim or emotion you have about so and so every three seconds!
Let’s just be decent people. Love the characters you love, but don’t use that as an opportunity to be nasty to other fans or actors. Be constructive with how you consume and appreciate media. Love you all.

Okay so this is true for like all fan communities my theory for why fanon comic book characters are like that is that its just the characters are not portrayed based off of the comics but instead a vague understanding of a few key points in character's backstory is gained through fan content and then the rest of the character is pieced together through that and out of context comic panels. Because there is nothing else to base them off of the rest of the character is formed out of tropes and stereotypes. I think comic caharcter tend to be worse off compared to other media in the realm of fanon is because how comics work: a. There are a lot fo comics of read so you can properly understand a character so some people may feel overwhelmed just not read them, making fanon (specifically other peoples interpretations) their only source of reference.
So let's sya gen A will then construct a character from fanon and then post about them about it. Then gen B who only consumes fanon will see and construct a character from gen A's posts. Then gen C will make a caharcter out of gen B's posts and so on and so forth. (I'm using gent o mean like a group fo people idk how else to phrase it I'm tired.)
That's huge misconceptions exist as many people don't got though the source material they simply form a character out of tropes and the opinions of other people.
Basically its not the characters it's the idea of what a character with a few similar key life poitns woukd act (insert a lot of projection)
Also so like fanon is like platos cave but the people who se the shadows tell people who live in complete darkness what they think books are and then thos people tell some other people about what they think books are and the shadows go on forever.
This but it goes on forever and some of the people who only see the shadows are comic book writers.
B. This all affects how those people see canon so they will probably try to share comics and comic panels that fit into that character and interpret the characters through the fanon lens.
D. There are a bunch fo different writers who write comics and who each have favorites so some characters may seem stronger/more competent/ cooler then they actually are (E.g. In red robin Tim is like the only competent one) and they may write other characters as super ooc to fit into this or to make other charcters look more appealing (e.g. Kory being a really jealous and rude to make Babs look better) or they may drastically misunderstand a character and portray them as that. Basically comics are a constant chain of interpretations since the characters were created but when you add in fanon this characterisation will be passed onto a bunch of people.
Eg: I read a comic where caharcter A is super annoying that's my only reference for character A and for them and I won't read any of their comics now cause I think they're just super annoying my only basis for them is now this and fanon.
Or similarly
I read a comic where character A is super cool and ungodly competent and so now that's what I think character A is like and that will affect how a see canon.
Also comic book writers interact with fandom content and so their view of the characters will be warped by that which can pass on fanon characters into canon.
#This is a ramble#I'm so tried ill edit this when I wake up from a nap#DC pan#This has probably been said before but yeah#Night#dc comics
