Undead Unluck #1 - Undead and Unluck
Screenplay: Gakuto Haishima Storyboard: Yuuki Yase Episode Director: Yuuki Yase Chief Animation Director: Hideyuki Morioka Animation Directors: Hideyuki Morioka, Shunichi Ishimoto, Yuu Fukuoka, Yumenosuke Tokuda Key Animators: Kazuhiro Miwa, Hideyuki Morioka, Shiori Tanaka, Kumiko Kawashima, Kyouko Niimura, Naoto Yoshida, Nobuo Takahashi, Hiroyuki Ookaji, Shunichi Ishimoto, Rin Ogawa, Yuuko Dangi, Mahora Muraki, Akio Kitahara, Katsuyuki Tsubouchi, Hirokazu Satou, Yuu Fukuoka, Shingo Fujisaki, Yasuto Hirohara, Rie Oomori, Yukio Okano
Yuuki Yase is possibly one of my favorite directors of all time, and I don't exactly hide this. The Kubikiri Cycle is one of my all-time favorite anime series that has continued to mesmerize and be a part of my life since its airing. Yuuki Yase's direction of that series was simply one of the best I've seen. The very concept of Zaregoto is one that is more driven by dialogue and conceptuality than even Monogatari, I would say. He was able to somehow represent the oddity in Zaregoto in visual form. Not much was happening, but the way things were framed made it uncomfortable, it felt confined even as they were in this large, spacious castle cloaked in ambiguity, the characters themselves were uncanny in a way. Let's just say I was completely charmed. So when I heard that Yuuki Yase was going to direct Undead Unluck, I was very curious, as I had never read the series before, as it never really interested me. I had a feeling I would like it since it's Yuuki Yase directing it, but I never expected it to this extent.
My jaw dropped during the cold open of the episode, all of which was helmed by Taiki Konno, who you may have seen earlier this year in the ending visual for Magical Destroyers which aired this year.
I would love to post every frame of the opener here, but of course, I can't do that. Within a very short timeframe of maybe 2 minutes, you're introduced to this fictional manga series that our main character is reading, all while relating it back to her traumatic past. It's genuinely beautiful and haunting at the same time. The buildup to the explosion of the plane was intense, and when it happened, even though you're barely beginning the episode, there's a sense of catharsis in seeing the tragedy occur. The artstyle throughout was very much Konno's usual style but it felt less constrained and more self fulfilling than any work he has done in previous anime. It felt like a great opportunity for him to showcase himself and that he completely did.
The rest of the episode took a very different turn than the intro but it was still every fun. Close up eyes shot, the use of color and desaturation much like in Fire Force or Kubikiri Cycle is prevalent here and it mixes well in creating intrigue during the introduction of Andy.
The overall production was a lot of fun, and it was superbly well animated. With the key animators' staff being completely stacked, it wasn't surprising. The actual story premise was even more enjoyable than I had anticipated, and I'm going to continue enjoying it. However, I have a feeling that Yuuki Yase is elevating this to a different level that I wouldn't experience than if I just read the manga.

2. Nobunaga Concerto
Dok. Fuji TV

3. Toki o Kakeru Shoujo
Dok. Studio Madhouse
Apa jadinya jika kemampuan melompati waktu malah dipakai buat main-main?
5. Occult Academy
Dok. Studio A-1 Pictures

ROLEPLAYING HISTORY
The rules are simple! Post ten characters you’d like to role play as, have role played as, and might bring back. Then tag ten people to do the same (if you can’t think of ten characters, just write down however many you can and tag the same amount of people). Aside from that, please repost instead of reblogging!
CURRENTLY PLAYING: (I’ll simply name the two muses here given this is the only real active blog of mine) Shirou Emiya - Fate/ Series Archer Emiya/Nameless - Fate/ Series
WANT TO/WILL BE PLAYING: Frisk and Chara - Undertale (may make a separate blog for these two) Tracer - Overwatch (on multi-muse which is still basically inactive) Naoto Shirogane, Chie Satonaka, Labrys - Persona series (same as Tracer) A RWBY OC I have
HAVE PLAYED: Kirito, Argo, Yuuki Konno - Sword Art Online Rin Hoshizora - Love Live Ruby Rose - RWBY Uzume Tennouboshi - Neptunia series
WILL/WOULD PLAY AGAIN: Honestly all of the above in the have played section (Yuuki and Ruby in particular). There’s still a bit of muse in me for all of them, just not enough to warrant having their own separate blogs. Or to consistently heck the bloody multi-muse, apparently.
TAGGED BY: @mondartmusen TAGGING: Honestly I have no idea who to tag so anyone who’d like to do this can do it.

The following is a detailed overview of the events of Persona X Detective Naoto. If you still have questions after this and you wanna plot in this verse please let me know.
Starting in the week before her 3rd year the novel opens on Rise and Naoto at a gravure shoot. One Rise roped Naoto into doing with her. It then introduced Touko Aoi, someone Naoto has known for some years and considers her mentor. It is Touko that asks her to take up the case of the dissapearances and Naoto accepts. Upon traveling to Yagokoro Naoto visits the police department there and there meets Sousei, unfortunately due to an experiement gone wrong he goes Berserk and attempts to strangle her. This in turn causes Naoto to awaken to her new persona Amatsu Mikaboshi, a drastic new change as he is a non combative type persona.
Because of this introduction Naoto is rather hesitant to form a partnership with Sousei. On top of their introduction he is rather loud and abrasive which earns him the monicker ‘simple minded- san’ from her. But non the less they are preasured into their partnership and so they get to work. Yagokoro for Naoto is a huge shift from Yasogami high. Pretty much all the students know her upon arrival as there is some ‘detective prince craze’ on the internet. Which opens all the students up to her questioning but it also makes them extremely curious to her.
The case takes a turn for the worse when the body of Miyuki Midorikawa is found. This in turn leads Naoto to discover that she was on of the 5 administrators of the Midnight site. With the second missing student as another likely candidate for one of the remaining four. Allarming messages are found that someone is out to murder all 5 of the administrators. And thus the chase is on to discover the identities of the administrators, who all go by codenames, before the killer can find them.
Luck was on their side as they gained access to the midnight site. One of the administrators was prepared to meet with them though he had some ridiculous demands before doing so. Most specifically that he wanted to be put into contact with the police through a young woman on Sunday at the foodcourt of the local Junes. More then that he wanted to see this young woman there the previous 3 days. It was Touko who forced Naoto to take up this under cover part. Forcing her to wear a seifku in a truly uncomfortable effort to get someone to safety. Even though they succeeded in bringing him in, and even though he eventually gave them more access to other parts of the website they were unable to keep him safe. While in police custody he to was murdered. And they were not yet closer to the identities of the 3 remaining administrators. It was by sheer luck that they found the next one.
Shirou Konno the second missing student, presumed to be one of the final administrators. He was holding a fellow student hostage on the roof. In a hostage exchange Naoto offered herself in return for Takizawa, someone she had previously met and talked though. However not soon after the exchange Shirou was shot by no other then Touko herself. It was this that set Naoto to thinking and becomging suspicious of her mentor. When she faced her Naoto explained her reasoning. Reasoning she hadn’t shared with her partner Sousei that she believed that Touko might be the murderer. Touko admitted to it freely, having forseen the future with her own persona, she knew she would escape there. Sousei reacted less then positive, feeling angry at Naoto for hiding her suspicions. In hindsight Naoto agreed that it was not the right thing to do on her part. And so Touko got away, free to pursue the last of the administrators. Sousei dissolved their partnership right then and there. And though Naoto set the rest of the police department to work, filling them in on her findings, she was shellshocked to say the least. It was only by the next day that she and Sousei set aside their differences, temporarily, and pushed forward to find Touko. Returning to the place where the first body was found she and Soesei used their personalities to disccern Touko’s motive and eventually they found her there as well. Waiting for them both with the final administrator, a middle schooler by the name of Tohru Momochi. And a time bomb. It was Touko who had given her the ‘homework’ of uncovering her motive. And Naoto had done so and explained in full what Touko already knew. Realising upon explenation that it had been Touko’s intention all along, from the start this was what she had planned. It seemed that Touko rather then being taken in by the police had other plans. She activated the time bomb. She and Sousei had ten minutes to leave the premise or risk being caught in the blast and destruction of the bomb. With Tohru as her hostage there wasn’t a way to directly clear Touko herself either as she was still armed and had used her persona to look into the future. Only seeing what her own desired outcome would be. There was one thing however that Touko hadn’t forseen. And that was the simple fact that neither she herself nor Sousei would be readily leave the scene. Talking Touko down was not an easy feat. Neither was realizing that the entire set up hadn’t just been a call for herself and Sousei to hear Touko’s last words. But also that from the start, from before Touko had even put in the call to involve her, it had been a cry for help. But with less then 5 minutes on the clock there was only so much that they could do. Sousei could carry Tohru without any problem but Touko was tied to the bomb. The only sollution was to defuse it all together. Sousei strongly dissagreed but went along with it anyway. This left her with four minutes on the clock and Touko who was trying to convince her to give up on this line of thinking and just save herself. An unacceptable sollution in Naoto’s eyes. She had a wire dilema to face, much like in the hollywood movies only cutting the wires in a specific sequence would defuse the bomb. She needed Touko’s cooperation for that, and to be frank. She placed herself in a second hostage situation to gain it. Touko did not want her to die, and then her own life was what she’d use to gain the coopration she needed.
Touko explained the bomb and how it was set up to her. Cutting ten wires in the correct order was to much to leave up to chance. This would be almost impossible if it weren’t for the combined powers of their persona’s as well as the asistance of Sousei, who had also returned to their aid after bringing Tohru into relative safety. They cut the wires in order, a race against the clock. But it was her own deductive reason that stopped the bomb with a mere second to the timer. The police came and took Touka into custody after that. It was a bitter sweet feeling if anything. Sure more loss of life had been prevented. But the mentor she had looked up to for years now was also a murderer. Naoto promised that she would be waiting for Touko at the end of this. And that was not a promise she made lightly.
