This my friends, is the result of not dealing with anxiety properly for around 10 years... Technically it's self-harm, because sometimes I chew until it bleeds, and it is the result of constant biting, and I want to stop it. I've been chewing my knucke to make it look this way, it's a huge callous. I know nobody else with the same problem, but starting today I am determined to quit again. I don't ever talk about it and never have before but here you guys go. Let’s start with the fact that the first episode of season 3 of Discovery was basically an undiscovered episode of Farscape?!?

Lost Light 24: Only one more? TT__TT

This took longer for me to get to than expected because of the obnoxiousness that is Real Life. Ugh. Anyhoo....

We start the issue with Tailgate reminding us that there’s a difference in circuitry connections between alt and root modes, as we saw in regards to Grimlock a couple issues previous. What’s Rodimus’ reaction?

Full-on knucklebiter. *cackle!* Really, Rod? I guess nothing is too (melo)dramatic for our boy captain. XD

I honestly don’t have much connection to the stuff with Rewind, Chromedome, and Rung because I don’t particularly care one way or the other about any of them. Nothing about them as characters honestly speaks to me. *shrug*

Moving on, I adore how very quickly the Scavengers have become simply extended members of the Lost Light crew. Totally and completely accepted as they are. <3 Of course, the situation really made it a quick and easy transition, I think.

Then comes Max and Co. with Luna 1 through the Warren/Space Noodle/Omega Guardian carcass to pull off what seems a dues ex machina by whacking the moon into the Planet!Primus’ neural cluster. (I find the term seriously hysterical when applied to this fandom. In this instance, it’s even fucking funnier as we’re dealing with Cybertronian gods. XD!!! ) However, a later scene reveals it to be a bit of time traveling messages using the time distortion already known to be inherent in the Space Noodle. Good save, JRo. *lol*

I do also like that the forced transformation of Planet!Primus is also an already established fact of Cybertronian biology. We know it’s possible so it’s obviously not an ass-pull. This is well-formed storytelling.

We get a shot of the Council, showing that very few of them remain. Well done, Megs. Well done. Not well done, enough, but not shabby considering all he and his bots were up against in the Functionist Universe.

Then, we get Rung’s big scene. He prepares himself, knowing he’s not coming out of the other side of this. He sits at his terminal, flashbacks to Skids in the ceiling with a smile---wherever Skids is, so too will Rung soon be---then deletes his patient files. (There’ll be no breaking of the confidentiality of those in his absence.) And, then, he proceeds with his very last act.

Rodimus runs in to find Chromedome and Rewind staring sadly at the closed door to Rung’s quarters. He shoved that door open and they find the requested matrices and a thick layer of what looks to be sand over everything. There’s no sign of Rung whatsoever. The implication being that his frame simply dispersed with the effort of creating so many. Of course, it was implied that it would be too much for him to survive in the previous issue, so we’re not going into this unaware.

Interesting note:

Rung’s glasses are sitting on the corner of his desk. I wonder if anyone will keep them or if they’ll, maybe be used in whatever way they honor his memory. With Rung literally having been Primus, those suckers are a holy artifact, y’know. :D

This brings to mind something very interesting to me. These couple handfuls of bots have very literally been present for the deactivations of Cybertron’s deities. The physical presence of their gods is no more. Not that many of the crew were true believers, of course, but still? For someone like Drift? (Or even Thunderclash, who is obviously at least well-versed in at least Spectralism?) I have to wonder what sort of effect it will have on such bots. Especially gaining firsthand knowledge that the stories were so very wrong, manipulated by Adaptus and purposefully smearing Mortilus in his stead. Guh. This is the sort of stuff that gets me going. XD

Next up: Uh oh. We’ve got a problem. Seems those matrices came-

Of course Drift knows the answer to Velocity’s question!

 I kind of have to wonder if Rung did this on purpose. Some last moment way to remind everyone that they’re better than they believe. That they’re not the result of simply their flaws, that they can be more, that they are more.

Misfire is Quality Content. <333

There’s discussion of what makes a person good among the crew and Grimlock steps in because it’s giving him a headache. *lol*

This panel also gives us a look at Thunderclash’s rather prideful flaw. Thunderclash, have you not noticed the less than good deeds some of your fellow Autobots have gotten up to? Even so recent as to be something that you should not have forgotten? Or, maybe, Thunderclash has written the likes of Getaway off as Not Actually an Autobot? Or maybe he’s seeing it as a Good Deed Gone Awry? This gives some interesting depth to Thunderclash.

Fortunately, Rodimus has managed to move beyond that black-and-white level of thinking.

Making this particular panel even more striking is the mechs standing behind him:

And the mission to disable Planet!Primus is go.

This gives us the canon confirmation of Drift and Ratchet officially being A Thing. <3

Still swooning over their faces in that second panel. <333 Also, my brain has concocted something entirely too silly regarding Ratchet’s Han Solo-ing Drift. *lol* We’ll see if I manage to do something with it.

I... I can’t express how tickled I am at the rather random shoving together of Thunderclash and Spinister. <3 It’s strangely adorable. *lol*

Wasn’t expecting Brainstorm and Nautica, but hey! They’ve been through a lot together here recently. I can see it. I just also wanna shove Percy in there with them, honestly. :) There’s still an issue to go. We’ll see what happens? Seriously, though, Brainstorm and Nautica do get on together in a lovely way, when you think about it. I think I’ve just been more invested in other characters to have given them Deep Fannish Introspection. :D

I ADORE the reveal that Riptide is one of the bots with a Matrix. <333 So very wonderful.

Riptide is perfect, you know. :D

Whirl is with Magnus. And calls him Chunky. Oh, Whirl. *snicker*

Better than that, though? Megatron’s reaction to Magnus telling him and Roddy that the Matrix won’t open for him

“You’re one of the most decent people I’ve ever met. You can do this.” Well, maybe not the most effective of peptalkers, our dear reformed tyrant, but doing that while using his med kit to whack away the bots coming at him and Roddy? He multitasks! *lol*

Actually, though, Megatron seems to be a selectively effective peptalker.

Rodimus and Megatron. They bring out the worst in each other, yes, but they also---once they get under the other’s plating---bring out the best in each other, as well. Yeah, they’ve got a hard past, the two of them, but the war built that between a whole lot of Cybertronians. Rodimus is the guy that pulled Getaway out of a raging fire, sparing a mech he despised with his whole spark and swore vengeance on. He’s the guy that’s besties with the guy that used to be Deadlock. He can handle another ex-Con, even the tyrant himself. It’s who Roddy is. :)

Then we get the peptalk montage! Minimus is blown out of the Magnus armor all the way down to his irreducible form and knocked out. Riptide is overrun. So is Megatron. Swerve loses an arm.  Brainstorm is blown off his feet as Nautica drops to the ground.

Then, we get this:

Ratchet is so excited that he’s opening a Matrix. Oh, Ratch. You’ll feel awkward about it later, you silly old atheist. *lol* And Drift is so intent on keeping Ratchet safe. <3

Next is Whirl reaching for the Matrix that Minimus dropped. We’ll come back to that, though.

Misfire and Swerve! <333

It didn’t take long at all for these two to hit it off. Whether these two move beyond friendship? Anyone’s guess, really, but I’m definitely not against it. :D (I’m totally down for smooshing Grim in there with them, too, because Grim needs a couple of dorks like this. And I will always adore Grim/Misfire.)

Lug and Riptide are successful opening theirs. Tailgate is.

And Whirl? So is he. Of course, he’s managed to get his legs blown all to pieces, but he’s good with getting a Matrix open. :)

I don’t know if I can summarize the thoughts I have on this. Really, it’s the sort of thing that needs lots of words. Maybe if I ever feel the urge to write Whirl fic, I’ll extrapolate. Not today, though. Just know that I think this delves down under the surface of a mech that very few would ever deem one of the “good ones.” Out loud, at least.

We get a progression of others opening theirs, ending with Megatron holding the last as Rodimus gets caught in a blast that takes one of his hands. Only, Megatron can’t get it open:

Now, this might come across as Megatron not being good or even just good enough, but I don’t know that it. Megatron is in a situation like Drift. He’s got a lot he feels he needs to make up for and, I’d imagine, doesn’t feel at all like a few hundred years in the Functionist Universe has even started to atone. Megatron just doesn’t see that, yeah, he is good enough to get past the Morality Lock. His head just isn’t ready to wrap around something like that. (I have to wonder if Drift would have been able to do it, yet, even.) This is, of course, just my interpretation. :)

Then, because Rodimus.

That’s all I’ve got to say. Because Rodimus. *lol*

And, SUCCESS! The last of the Council is defeated. :D And... Rung has left them a message in the birthing field of Luna 1. <3

Don’t worry, Rung. I don’t think there’s much chance of you being forgotten now. :)

And, the aftermath:

*CACKLE!* This is like a Spaceballs moment. XD When Dark Helmet and Colonel Sanders watch Spaceballs: The Movie and fast forward to Now? *MORE CACKLING*

Then, Tailgate asks if it’s over, if this is the end. Trust old narrator Swerve gives us our answer: Are we done, Swerve?

That’s right. One more issue.

I’m not ready. I don’t know that anyone is. But, we already know a new universe is in the works. It’s got some big shoes to fill, though. :)

In my futile attempt to find a reference to lean too far on for that beautiful and simple (if I bothered applying any thought effort at all) spellbreaker armor, I discovered there is a HotS skin of one: Johanna from Diablo

Similarly, since I'm nothing if not distractable, I browsed around and, in addition to finally grabbing Maiev as a hero, I discovered that Uther is a hero, too!

I had no idea. He isn't a particular favorite of mine but he's definitely cool and worthy of kicking ass in whatever the HotS nexus is. (And there *has* to be special voice lines for him and Arthas). It was neat to see him in all that lovely gold and blue.

Then I saw his alt skins and *knucklebite* more distracted.

I feel like I saw this in the comic shops growing up, back when they would publish individual chapters of manga as floppies, like Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, Evangelion, and (more comparatively) Electric Tales of Pikachu. I think I thought it looked TOO CUTESY though and never bothered with it. Not when I had ETOP there with all the knucklebiting action and Pokeshipping flirting I could ever want.

BTW, the other day I remembered my Magical Pokemon Journey comics I had when I was younger, so I thought I'd share! If you don't already know about theme; this was originally a manga by Yumi Tsukirino, and was printed in the early days when manga got translated and flipped for American readers. The art was VERY cute, and intentionally similar to the magical girl style of anime/manga. The story focused on Hazel, a young girl who is given the task of being a Pokemon Trainer to help her grandpa's research (so she's kind of like the original Rival character), but she's more interested in getting the attention of a boy she knows, Almond (he's more serious about being a Trainer, but has bad luck when it comes to catching Pokemon). She winds up befriending several Pokemon, somtimes by comforting them when they're upset and sometimes through determination to not be ignored, including a rowdy little Pikachu (this was before Pichu was a thing, but this Pikachu is VERY chibi, and accidentally looks like the eventual baby form~)

Omg I've heard about this manga!! I've always wanted to read it but unfortunately only the first volume out of 10 is scanned (I'm pretty sure) and the physical volumes- if you can actually find them for sale- go for hundreds of dollars. As a fandom archivist it hurts my heart knowing that there's currently no viable way to read this series in English :(

February 15th, 2019 vs March 28th, 2019. Its only been like a month and it already has a bigger difference than I thought. I thought it wasn't doing good enough but it is.
