I know nobody else cares about the comic nailbiter but i read it a few weeks ago and i keep thinking about how gay they made it seemingly on accident

warren bites nails. It’s heavily implied to be a fetish for him, in fact. He hires prostitutes to let him bite their nails. A cover features his girlfriend saying “why does my boyfriend like my nails so much?”, while he sits next to her looking at her nails with hearts over his head. So why the fuck does he yell “YOUR NAILS ARE MINE” at finch

in the scene where that takes place, finch handcuffs and threatens warren to extract information. Warren asks to be hurt, and for finch to “take out all your troubles on [him]”, and afterwards refers to it as “seven minutes in heaven” and likens it to bdsm

on finch’s end, he straight up kidnaps warren and keeps him in his house for. Seemingly years

and then it just goes nowhere! And is not acknowledged! Warren is shown to want to rekindle things with his ex girlfriend! What the hell happened! And why is there not a fanbase for it, i want to see fanart of them kissing!

actually that ending kinda sucked ass. like a murder gene? thats so played out that its literally in riverdale. and it took so long to get to the big reveal that i'd forgot that i'd figured it was morty. and the whole immortality thing felt so cheap as well. i think the story suffered from the lack of consequences it delivered to main characters- shot or stabbed or a killer and the status quo doesn't change. for everything that barker and warren did throughout the story, their endings were incredibly unsatisfying. barker should have killed crane for good and warren should have assumed the role of the family man he always wanted to be. finch deserved a better ending too, he was totally shafted in that final scene in the caves and he should have been the one to kill either morty or barker or become the next butcher. i didn't understand what was being done to his character in the end. warren seeking out crane to kill her, completely out of character, and then being revealed as immortal was so stupid... even just alice being blonde in the end made no sense. the last two issues sucked balls. i was trusting the process and assuming it would all come together but it didn't. and still there's a bunch of red herrings that were left unsolved. a story like this should have been finished and polished before release. i really liked the premise and the art, and i felt like there were a lot of things it had going for it, but overall it was so unsatisfying. oh and warren not having the gene makes it all so pointless. if he never ran the gauntlet or whatever before prison, he still would have been choosing to kill and cheap one liner crane made could still have been in there. i guess those issues were always present, but they don't become so obvious until the story has to explain itself, and that gets shoved off to the tail end. ughhhh.

i guess i would still recommend it, but maybe not finishing it... or maybe so? i never know what to do with a series like this because i'm glad i read it, but unable to justify recommending it. lately i've been reading so many things with strong beginnings and weak endings, too many. i'm getting kind of sick of it!
