Welcome to "Mint never knows when or how to stfu about their creative process for lack of a better term so is putting it out into the void for posterity's sake + as an excuse to ramble more about ideas"

Below the cut is how I came up with the Pokémon I made the TADC cast into ! This also includes scrapped ideas I abandoned partway through fgewyuhs

Caine

I considered a lot of different things for Caine oh my godd I ex: Mawhile because that's the "mouth" Pokémon, Magnezone because it's an electric type with googly eyes that floats, etc.

Eventually I thought of a Rotom in the shape of an arcade cabinet resembling a mouth and went with that + Mismagius because it was the only Pokémon with a hat and something resembling a suit that was also floating - I just altered the shape to resemble a ringmaster instead of a witch.

Bubble

Bubble was both easy and hard because I knew he was gonna be a sphere-shaped Pokémon, I just had to narrow down which 1-2. Eventually I decided on Solosis for the similar translucent appearance and Drifloon because the little fluffy thing on its head + its arms I could make resemble his chef "outfit" with the hat and fork/knife. I went back and forth until the very last second on whether or not he should be an Electrode instead for the joke that he'd self destruct repeatedly, but I decided he deserved more complexity than the background NPCs so he kept his fusion rights.

Pomni

Honestly the only thing I got caught up on with Pomni was whether she was going to be a Mime Jr. or a Mr. Mime. Like her body looks more like a Mr Mime's and her hat looks more like a Mime Jr's? Eventually I settled on Mr Mime when I added Phantump into the equation (mainly for the expression ngl) because the downturned branches became her "hat" instead

Gangle

Gangle was the one I 100% knew what she was going to be since the beginning. Like Yamask is too perfect and paired with Sylveon as the ribbon Pokémon and she was good to go. She, Ragatha and Jax were definitely the most straightforward.

Zooble

Zooble started out as a Porygon-Z but then I thought "hey what if they had Porygon 1 and 2 parts as well" and so they became a Porygon amalgamation. Added Golett for the ghost type + something to resemble their chest piece.

Kinger (and Queenie)

Kinger was by far the one I spent the most time deciding on. I knew I wanted something in the Pawniard evolution family for the chess piece element but I couldn't make Kingambit work to save my life. My friend @blueberrysimsam finally convinced me to go with Bisharp because they had the most similar bodytypes so big thanks to him for preventing me from tearing my hair out.

For the "royal" part of the fusion, I thought of making him a Slowking for the goofiness + that shiny Slowbro is purple, but I also knew whatever I was gonna make him, I was going to make Queenie as well, and I liked the idea of them being a Pokémon that looks different depending on if it's M or F. After attempting and failing to make Nidoking/Nidoqueen work and deciding on them all being part ghost types I remembered Jellicent which I thought was perfect for the robes and still retained some of Kinger's silliness even if he didn't resemble his canon design as much as some of the others.

Ragatha

Okay so full disclosure, I was never going to make Ragatha a Banette. No shade at anyone who makes there own Pokémon AU with her as one, I get that it's the official "doll" Pokémon, but I just can't see it. Banette's whole thing is that it only exists as long as it's holding a grudge for being abandoned. Mimikyu just felt more fitting both in personality and aesthetically. Then Gothitelle is the Pokémon that looks like Ragatha the most, but I think it still works considering Psychic types are weak against Bug. It's also make's Ragatha's "but that's not something we need to worry about today!" line funny in the context that Gothitelles can see the heat death of the universe

Jax

Okay so Jax was gonna be part Gengar no matter what rabbit pokemon I fused him with. They make like the exact same face I had to fgeyuwsh. I went with Cinderace because Jax being a Fire type felt fitting and also because its outfit kinda resembles overalls already so I didn't have to change much about that or the body type. Really all I did was add gloves and get rid of the headpiece.

Kaufmo

I considered making him a Poplio but ended up making him a Mime Jr. so that he'd have somewhat of a connection with Pomni. Blacephalon was a bit of a cheat considering it's an Ultra Beast, but hey, I needed a ghost type and it was a taller clown themed Pokémon, so if the shoe fits. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He's an abstracted MissingNo. now anyway. SPEAKING OF the second I remembered those it was over like it even kind of looks like him with the long neck and all

NPCs

Moon and Sun are a Lunatone and a Solrock for what I assume is an obvious reason. The gloinks are Unowns because both are simplistic shapes with minor variations. I'm thinking of making the Gloink Queen Giratina's origin form because giant worm. Might fuse it with a Mawhile for the double mouth since I didn't end up making Caine one anyway? Then the mannequins are probably just the Substitute Dolls.

I guess I can give my headcanons about his moveset

- Cut, scratch, slash with his knife

- Lick

- Sleep powder

- Wrap, Constrict with ropes

- I think he can learn some fighting and dark type moves from tms

- Return and frustration

Return is stronger if the Pokemons friendship with the trainer is high. Frustration is stronger if their friendship is low.

I can see him hitting hard with both at once though.

Return because his affection for his trainer is always extremely high and Frustration if his trainer refuses his advances or shows preference to another pokemon.

In my pokemon AU Ghost and Soap's teams would be:

Ghost-

Dusclops: his starter. Met when it was a Duskull when he sought shelter in a cemetery. He was running away from home as a child, nursing a bruised face after another beating from his father. Duskull usually enjoy tormenting children, but this one saw him suffering and tried to comfort him, brushing away tears and trying to cheer him up. It followed him home without his knowledge and upon seeing his homelike, decided to make his fathers life hell, tormenting him with visual and auditory hallucinations, tripping him and such. Ghost eventually became aware it was Duskull and further encouraged it. They bonded and he caught it secret using a dirty discarded pokeball he had found in the street. His father had forbid him from owning pokemon because he wanted to exert control over Simon.

Bisharp - Ghost loves knives. This pokemon is one big knife. Need I say more? This Bisharp is very aggressive and was difficult to raise, but Ghost trained it relentlessly and brought out its inate leadership qualities and taught it how to control its strength.

Furret - The sentry. Used for stealth missions and Recon. Very fluffy and can often be seen curled around Ghost's neck, his face buried in its fur as he sleeps. Soap had many pictures taken in secret because it's fuckin cute.

Decidueye - Night recon, stealth missions again. Arrows assist in long-distance takedowns. Loves head pats.

Polteageist - Ghost is Galarian. He loves ghosts and he loves tea. Great for slipping into enemies drinks and poisoning them.

Houndoom - Bones aesthetic. He loves it. The piercing howls at night scare his enemies shitless and this pokemon loves tearing through opponents with teeth and horns. Aggressive but also acts like a puppy to get belly rubs from Ghost. Loves going for walks with Soap's Arcanine.

Soap:

Ampharos - his starter was Mareep. He met it when he was a child in the fields surrounding his home. Would ride around on it when he was small and snuggle into its wool despite getting a static zap. Ampharos is very affectionate towards Ghost. Soap has come home numerous times late at night to find Simon hugging his Ampharos in his sleep, tail glowing to ward off nightmares.

Rhyperior - launches rocks from its palms. For a demolitions expert, this is the perfect pkmn for Soap.

Arcanine - very loyal to Soap. Agile and can quickly eliminate targets with its flames and teeth. Goes for walkies with Ghost's Houndoom.

Blastoise - water cannons. Enough said.

Sceptile- stealthy and agile, great for high speed takedowns. When working with Ghost during night recons, is the perfect compliment to Decidueye. Operates with close quarters combat while the owl covers him from a distance.

Rapidash - you ever see a Rapidash kill a man with its horn? This one has. Stomps escaping enemies to death. Beautiful and deadly. Soap will ride it through fields while shirtless because he knows the sight drives Ghost wild.

I think the Bisharp line, considering this statement on them intentionally being designed to feel a little insectoid, are probably highly derived bug pokemon- probably closest related to the likes of Scyther/Scizor.

Anyway undersiders Pokemon au team themes/types

Taylor: While the obvious choice is bugs, thatz wrong she runs normal monotype, probably 2 set up sweepers with guts or guts equivalent, (staraptor and zangoose as two very common pokemon with flavor about punching up a stupid amount and being solitary as they grow stronger but stil seen as not much. Also zangoose bitter rivalry vs the knife snake). Buneary that never ever evolves because she received it as a gift from Emma and she sorta kinda hates it. Hisuian zoarark to lean into the half feral, rabid, violence from the outside looking in while actually utilizing trickery and plans to not get stomped into the ground. She barely scrapes by when her setup sweeps fail and has very little plan outside of that though <3. Unrelated but Danny has a komala that interacts with Taylor more than he does

Lisa: Poison/Psychic mashup. Leans status team with only a single heavy hitter in the form of either an alakazam or gothitelle. Probably runs a mirror coat+counter wobaffet. Other than that, she has a crobat she inherited from her brother. It bites her very often and she pretends not to notice while still letting it drink her blood because I love irony(metaphor? probably a metaphor). I want to give her poipolr because it seems fun but alas alternate dimensions

Alec: Slaking. This bothers Taylor. Also, a Shedinja that he gets later with Aisha's ninjask. Rotom that possesses whatever electronic would be the most inconvenient for everyone else, and a mawile. He only gets three at most though+that Shedinja because he doesn't have to take care of it. I was originally going to lean into the more fucked up fairy types like grimmsnarl, shiinotic, and the aforementioned mawile, but that seemed too consistent. Heartbreaker is a fairy type trainer though and Alec got the mawile from him

Brian: Some big ol guys. He has the most theoretically dependable and consistent team in a defensive sandstorm+hazard team. Gigalith to set up sandstorm, aggron or sand stream tyranitar as an ace, with a metang as a secondary attacker. Bronzong for screens. Either an orthworm or skarmory for hazards. The team loses effectiveness very quickly when someone sets up a different weather effect because he doesn't have a way to set up sandstorm again

Rachel: Dogs. Arcanine, stoutland, snubull, houndoom. These two aren't dogs but she also gets either an ursaluna of an obstagoon. She has the most type coverage of any of the undersiders and does very well against anyone she does battle, but the commodity nature of battles and overall softness of the universe in pokemon mean she should have the luxury to not the engage in violence, so she just runs a breeder+shelter somewhere on a ranch and never meets the undersiders except maybe Taylor looking at some puppies

Aisha: She doesn't have a consistent theme besides bright, attention grabbing, and probably fast. Confident about a noivern+Jolteon+a very very loud bronzong. Probably a ninjask. I then get significantly less confident about a haunter and mimikyu.

Lily: Escavalier. Let's then lean into the precision with a mienshao and medicham. That's all she has when first meeting the undersiders, but she gets a bisharp and hisuian litigant later. March has an accelgor and it's her pokemon that wants to skin suit lily's Escavalier due to the whole stealing armor thing that accelgor and Escavalier do. March is still stalkery but it takes the form of keeping her in a basement. Lily starts as a gym trainer, Legend's probably, and wants to run the league circuit, but no shows the tourney after the first match to hang out with Sabah

Sabah; Not a battler, doesn't go on a journey so does the whole pokemon civilian thing of only 1-2 pokemon. Those are a mimikyu she makes costumes for and an aradios.

this is entirely a 'dude. you could've just made your own post.' situation particularly because i know jackfuckall about pokemon, but my sweet friend scarf Does know about pokemon, so this is now Guest Answer Hour where i showed them the non-spoiler bits and outsource my responses from them. under a cut because the ask itself is already long enough

taylor: i can't legally repeat what they said about this one because it wasn't very nice but the gist of it boils down to "picking Not bug types for taylor is trying to be subversive for no reason, yes the bug-themed character would use bug-type pokemon, come the fuck on"

lisa: gothitelle is a good pick, she runs mind games & support pokemon because that's her role on the team. doesn't type-limit herself but does pick an aesthetically and functionally coherent team. aiming for the intimidation factor and then to pull the rug out beneath her opponents feet. also see this scarfnote

also the more that I think about it the more that I think Yeah Lisa would absolutely have perish trap as an option for her team. you kinda have to if you’re a gothitelle user I mean you don’t have to but since that’s the only good shadow tag pokemon it’s a nice option even if it’s not your main draw Lisa’s whole thing is that she, like Brian, does not have much firepower, but she’s incredibly perceptive/charismatic enough to trap you on the field and talk you into a corner until you’ve made your own bed and it’s too late to bounce back. perish trap is a team archetype that relies on smart positioning and stalling, both of which are things Lisa excels at

alec: trying to avoid the fucked up fairy types is again subversive for no reason. only has one pokemon because he's too lazy (read: chronically depressed) to take care of more, and it's a hatterene (googled 'fairy type' and went for the first aesthetically-pleasing result he saw). how well it meshes w/ him is a pleasant coincidence. he named it something really stupid to the point where people question if he even cares about it but it's his best friend and they cuddle together every night and also own matching pajamas. had some kind of tiny cute fairy pokemon before he left heartbreaker but couldn't take it w/ him when he left, subsequently memoryholed it forever

brian: i'm just gonna. quote them because i understand next to none of this

"extremely reliable and dependent" cannot work with a monotype/weather team im sorry but pigeonholing yourself into one theme only makes your weaknesses more apparent. Brian’s team would be one that primarily consists of pivot pokemon that can take/redirect hits so that his teammates can get in a safe position. pokemon with defensive abilities/type immunities/substitute/protect, etc. all of those would be the Most Consistent pokemon that can eat hits from opponents while allowing the other undersiders to set up safely. the only pokemon I agree with on your lineup is orthworm, because of the earth eater ability + shed tail. other pokemon would be gastrodon for storm drain, amoongus for powder immunity/spore/rage powder/regenerator. Brian’s pokemon are constantly switching in and out of battle, he does not have much in the means of firepower, but that’s okay because he doesn’t in canon either. AND gholdengo I literally wrote that and forgot to put it lmao. good as gold is an insane ability + ghost/steel typing is solid defensively. this would probably be his only avenue of offensive pressure with make it rain, but I can’t see him using it too too often as, like I said, he’s pivoting a lot. if he reads a status move incoming, he’s sending that thang out he would also probably have an intimidate user on hand since those work really well with switching teams, but I can’t think of a great one off the top of my head right now

also tacking on my own addendum that brian's deal is "guy who is trying so hard to LARP at being pragmatic and normal and responsible despite repeatedly making some sort of objectively batshit risky decisions" so he's 100% like. super dependable consistent team but with a bit of flair he repeatedly tries to pull off nuts-specific shit with. and also he runs that shit like the military

rachel: the scarf verdict is dogs. all dogs. all dogs and you are out of your mind if you think she has anything but dogs. this is her Thing even more than bugs are taylor's thing. most offense-heavy & aggressive team. has Literally Every Dog Pokemon. all of them. has an arcanine that used to be brian's but she was so fucking insufferable about criticizing his care of it that he just fuckin' gave it to her

aisha: theme is "most annoying little fucks humanly possible." Annoying Little Freaks Menagerie, just like she collects in canon w/ the heartbroken. bright and attention grabbing is...the opposite of what she does while fighting? so absolutely not that. impidimp (duh), sableye, approximately 13 phantumps, and one (1) shiny yamask that may or may not be her dead best friend. and yes, she does let it possess her sometimes for fun!

I swear… every time I begin to feel down, Knife the Bisharp is there, trying to lift my spirits. With his smiles and comforting words…

So, I've been a little obsessed with Bisharp lately, since seeing them in the wild has made me REALLY miss my Bisharp Blade that I had as a kid.

I haven't touched my older pokemon games in years (only recently playing a new one), but I've borrowed my sister's 3DS and bought a charger... for the sole purpose of sorting through my various games in search of Blade.

Unfortunately, it looks like I do not own any pokemon from before White 2; it seems like no pokemon from my OG Black cartridge made it into the new one before it got lost long ago. Blade, unfortunately, seems to have been one of those casualties. I kind of hope someone else found the cartridge, even if I'll never see it again- maybe someone else will appreciate her, lost dog style, haha!

Anyway, I did find one (two!) things to fill that gap though! A lv. 38 Pawniard, route 9, apparently caught on the White 2 cartridge considering her OT. I also found ANOTHER female Pawniard named Blade on my Ultra Sun cartridge, apparently caught in Y and transferred up. I think seniority (and sentimentality for Unova, haha!) ought mean I should give the Blade title to the older one from White 2; I do think I might rename her though; maybe something along the lines of Blade the second or Blade II, if it'll fit. Or maybe an adjacent blade-themed name, considering she was caught on what was likely the same route as the OG Blade- since White 2 is canonically the sequel to Black, maybe this Pawniard is the OG Blade's younger sister, or cousin or such. It's fun to imagine c:

I do think I will actually wait for the inevitable gen 5 remakes to come around (hopefully later than sooner! no more half baked games, PLEASE, game freak...) to raise Blade's heir; I'd like to use her in an actual story mode. I feel like doing so forms more of a bond, insofar as one can bond with pixels and data, haha.

I will however A: use PKhex or the likes to make a fucking mindstate backup of her (and many others- these guys are getting CLONED broski, I am NOT risking sending any of my oldies into the glitchy ass new games without backing them up! and B: I also think I'll do the transfer gradually, so I can cram as much as ribbons from each game I have (White 2, Y, Ultra Sun) onto her (and others!) as I can. Since there is no backwards transfer, there's kind of only one chance to do that! And I kind of want to have the little souvenirs proving these guys have been to all the regions available to me c: If I can find that Alpha Saphire cartridge I never finished, I might even sit there and try to get contest ribbons, too!

Effectively being a knife collection on legs, I imagine physical affection like hugs is all but impossible.

Hello again, my dear~!

Celeste…well she is one of my most lovable and caring Pokémon on my team~! She always wants to look out for her siblings…

However, her sharp exterior makes it a little difficult to exude such affection on both ends…

My other Pokémon will often give her gifts as a way of affection. Ferryn will give her sticks and leaves from outside and Ezra likes to find berries for Celeste to chop up and share~

At night time, I’ll often find the others have gathered blankets to wrap around Celeste so they can cuddle with her…it’s quite the wholesome sight I must say~! ♥️

For me personally though~? Training together one on one is something we both thoroughly enjoy~! We’ll also often go on outings to the city…Celeste loves pretty things, so if she sees something she likes, I’ll buy it for her~! ✨♦️♠️

I’ll also admit to joining in on the cuddling at night time…it’s quite warm…
