Not sure if you know this, but in the 90's, a phone call between Prince Charles and Camila was leaked where Charles wished he could be reincarnated as one of Camila's tampons.

I have. I chose not to reblog it because the image is so violently and outrageously and unambiguously racist, to a level I don't believe I have seen before in all my years of following Meghan's saga. I didn't want to spread that kind of disturbing imagery, but I'm glad some big names on Twitter were discussing it and bringing attention to the absolute mask-off display these lunatics are now comfortable engaging in.

I do have one thing to say though: There are monarchists in the replies of Ellie's tweet bringing up "KKKate" and similar squad memes, I guess in an attempt of the most pathetic, paper-thin whataboutism in history. The two examples are self-evidently nowhere near comparable. However, I will say ONE thing as an aside: I personally find it extremely upsetting to see the images some Sussex stans photoshop of W&K with burning crosses or swastikas or KKK hoods. I couldn't care less about those two, but the weight that those symbols hold are unspeakably heavy, and I think people need to remember they are invoking the memory of REAL genocide when they're sharing their silly lil twitter memes for a giggle.

HOWEVER . . . There is also a real phenomenon we have all observed over the years of the Waleses explicitly courting colonialist and white supremacist imagery. So in that sense, one could argue that the KKK memes are an astute criticism of how W&K really do behave. A necessary point of sociopolitical commentary. And you know what, I would agree. The thesis behind those memes is hardly coming out of nowhere. I guess I would just say . . . please at least tag your memes of the royals, like, making literal fucking Nazi salutes, with content warnings so that people who don't want to see that shit won't.

Once again, though, the two fandom behaviors are of course, OF COURSE, not at all equally "bad." The anti-Meghan discourse, like the image you linked, is the violent work of the most depraved people I've ever had the misfortune to know. Anybody trying to compare the two is not fooling ANYONE serious.

I honestly feel very bad for you lol there’s a least one comment accusing you of being “pro-Kate” on every other post you have that’s about her and it’s so annoying even to me. You’ll share a critique of Kate that isn’t you just endlessly attacking her for blinking wrong, but one that is nuanced and is focused on criticizing her for what she’s actually done (or didn’t do), and it’ll be someone accusing you of being her fan. You can literally start the post by saying that you still don’t like her, that she’s still mean and racist, and that just because you don’t agree with her being a copyKate in a certain instance doesn’t mean you like her, and people will still call you a Wales fans and accuse you of being a secret Meg hater. Or the times I’ve seen people think just because you criticized Harry means you must be a secret Meghan hater, bc G-d forbid we actually criticize the people we support (I thought blindly supporting people and being scared to criticize leaders was supposed to be a ‘Wales’ thing), let alone the husband of the woman we actually support (because who really is in this for Harry).

I said that as a joke before (for those of you who don't know, a prominent Sqaddie on Twitter got into some hot water for saying "I hate that wrinkly, anorexic hoe" in regards to Kate, she got a few articles written about her, slow news day, I guess) but I really do mean it. If I said exactly the same things that I said before, but instead of calling Kate "Kate" I said "that cunt" or "KKKate" it would get less slack.

People prefer performative cruelty that doesn't even mean or add anything over actual criticism that makes sense and is logical. It's all about how much you can signal your dislike for certain people online, how else are people supposed to know that you're on their side? Like, what is even the point of me pretending that Kate's wearing of this one dress is copying when there are dozens of more obvious examples of her jacking Meghan's aesthetic that I have pointed out? Literally last week I was pointing it out.

Also, I've been accused of both hating Harry as a Meghan stan who will "turn on him once they divorce" and "not holding Harry accountable" in regards to his role in Meghan's anguish in 2018-20, so I'm not even going to touch that with a ten-foot stick because every time I'm just confused about what people want from me.

I’m not British, nor a royal family fan, but I must say my piece.

My mother had a tumor, a few years ago. It was benign, but we did not find out until months after the diagnosis. Those were dark, ugly times for my family and I. If my mother’s colleagues or acquaintances treated her the way you treated Kate, I would have not spared any kind words for them. So I am doing the same here.

The way you all speculated, mocked, derided, made a meme out of this and wished all the worse things to Kate Middleton simply because she disappeared from the public eye for a while, something Windsor and the royal staff had already stated, is astonishingly embarrassing.

The media team repeated multiple times that she would go back to her duties after Easter, and needed to rest, but instead of respecting this you made fun of her and made her into a joke. And maybe the monarchy in this day and age is nothing more than a joke, who knows. But those people are real. They are humans as much as you and me.

To those who bullied Kate Middleton into making a message to talk about something so delicate as cancer, something she did not want to do to protect her children: you disgust me. I hope you had your fun, because now you are covered in shame. An embarrassment.

A woman might be a princess, the future queen, but she is still a mother and a human. And facing cancer, we are all the same. Some are luckier, some aren’t. Some have access to treatment, some don’t. But cancer is still cancer, and if anything it makes her just like anyone else. Human. Not an unreachable queen or myth.

I hope now you will realize your cruelty in the past days and weeks. You might not like her, but she is not undeserving of respect. Out of all the royals, not her. And if your blind hate can’t possibly get past this, it’s your problem, and your lack of empathy.

My condolences to the princess of Wales and her family.
