In a way its an answer to Sand Planet.

Full context: Sand Planet is a song that Hachi made saying that the vocaloid community was dying. Which feels like a spit to the face of those that were still making songs at the time, and while some popular ones were stepping out, some stayed (Syudo, Giga for example, but there's more) and new, not as famous ones, were still making music, Hachi was one who had stopped back then, only made this song then dipped out.

At the time, when people said "the voca community is dying" it meant "the ones i listened to stopped".

The "sand planet" is the community, and well, the lyrics had stuff like "No grass will grow for the next millennium, it's a sand planet", "Filled with no-entry signs, it's a sand planet" and "If you're still alive, then respond to me..."

And well, Syudo DID respond. "Sensei" in this case is Hachi, who was one of Syudo's inspiration, and not only does it work for Mafuyu, it also contains lyrics such as:

"Hey teach, this place is a lawless zone

According to you, it’s too late, for this place has withered and died out already like an Anökumene

Plants can’t grow and humans can’t inhabit it anymore

Sand planet was made in 2017, and jpsekai released in 2020, according that this is just the second ever event and the sonf was likely ready before release, the biggest amount of time that syudo started writing this song was just 3 years later, probably around 2.

Are true riverdale fans of the opinion it is a very good and nearly flawless show or does being a true riverdale fan mean being able to mock writing choices

it's long-running serial television plotted a season/half at a time so definitely not even "nearly" flawless.

BUT. i'm not doing combat with the writing team. i'm not actively reading against the text the way i have to in order to enjoy something like supernatural or the 90s robin comics or the fucking sopranos, which are patriarchal christiancore copworld rapeworld white supremacist horrorshows that hate their minority audiences, with like 2 good creatives involved and martyring themselves to fight the good fight on sparse rare installments if you try to approach them sincerely.

riverdale writing staff are like a favorite smart problematic tumblr mutual to me. I don't always like what's on their blog or who they're referencing. but we're in the same community and i'm interested and inspired and i trust their agenda overall, even when i see shit i wouldn't have fucking posted. but bc i'm not being condescended to or actively spited i'm not gonna condescend to or spite them, you know?

i expect rvd to age like twin peaks (another very uneven, highly referential serial juggling a couple of intensely cool metanarratives on top of its core story). and twin peaks fandom mocks twin peaks all the time. twin peaks includes some CLUNKY shit. it's kitsch. it's camp. it has a second season that is largely ASS. james is there. and on top of that it also includes some genuinely offputting-to-me stuff that just bothers me to sit through, even though i feel like i understand and respect what they're going for with it. i just don't want to watch someone sweep the fucking bar for minutes and minutes as entertainment. OK!!?

Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat made Sherlock as an artistic experiment to see how long it took audiences to realize that Sherlock Holmes was always just Victorian Pulp Fiction.

The answer for some of you is "never"- which is a real shame because you're sitting there confused why such a "smart" show went so "off the rails".

But baby, the first season had him fighting a Cossack while John was getting groceries and busted an antiquities smuggling ring posing as a Chinese circus.

It was never on the rails. It was always meant to be schlocky. Those of us who enjoyed it, start to finish, recognize that.

Watch it again. And instead of "Luther" or "True Detective"- try comparing it to "Riverdale" or "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and you'll be a lot closer to what the intention was behind Sherlock.

Personally, I am a staunch defender of schlock, pulp and kitsch as important aspects of the artistic ecosystem. They're like the pollinators of creativity for the masses and often far more meta and referential than it's given credit for.

Shlock, pulp, and kitsch are also some of the havens that keep writers, performers and artists fed and housed until the gatekeepers of "high brow" art decide to let them in.

Sherlock is an incredibly loving homage to genre media, and it really doesn't do anyone any justice to the show to hold it to "high brow" standards.

Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone!

Wow, I didn't expect so much hype for a blurb with Leila, but thanks for all of you messages!

This is my last Christmas story, I admit to arrive at the end of my imagination for the subject and I prefer to stop before getting tired.

As always your advice and comments are a pleasure to receive, juste like your DM :)

When Leila offered to spend a few days in the snow, in the cold Switzerland, you were at first particularly surprised. You know that the girl usually takes advantage of each holiday to return to her family and enjoy them and you join her whenever you have the opportunity. New Year is celebrated with her friends in the rules of the art and it has never changed since you are together.

Except this year, Leila’s envy seems to be elsewhere. So it's in a chalet in Switzerland that you find yourself celebrating New Year’s Eve. Leila has booked a chic restaurant for the meal and you decided to walk around when it ended, hours after you came in. The typical village is decorated for the Holidays, answering all the kitsch ideas that someone can have about a Swiss mountain village during this period. But you love it and judging by Leila’s smile, so does she.

"Looks like Winter Wonderland"

You smile as you look at her, both hands entwined, swaying between you two. Even if it's cold, it's still bearable since you have wrapped yourself up from head to toe. You miss the feeling of her skin against yours when you hold your hand, but you will survive until you return to the warmth of the house you rented.

"It’s almost midnight"

You realize aloud when you arrive at the main square of the village. A small crowd of people gathered at the center and even if you don't understand what is being said, the joyful and relaxed discussions make you smile. Leila answered you with the positive, her gaze also resting on the large clock of the bell tower that faces you.

You observe this spectacle a few minutes before a countdown begins to run, announcing the lasts seconds of this year. You feel Leila coming closer to you when the fireworks are launched into the sky after the zero.

You smile when you see this, you always had a special thing for fireworks since you were little. Leila had joked once that there would be fireworks at your wedding and even if your stomach had done a flip when she mentioned the idea of marrying you, you held the idea in a corner of your brain.

Your smile gets bigger when you feel Leila kissing just below your ear. You shiver and this time the cold has nothing to do with it.

"Happy New Year, my Love" she whispers against your skin.

You slightly lift off her so you can put your arms around her waist, laying a kiss on her lips to which she hurries to respond.

"Happy New Year to you too" you answer smiling, a few seconds later.

You willingly let her slip a lock of your hair behind your ear, taking the opportunity to watch her with all your love. The street lights give even more depth to her gaze and an amused smile appears on her lips when she catches you looking at them.

"Cheeky" she laughs, before kissing you again.

After this new kiss, you look up to enjoy the show that is offered to you, without letting her go. You don’t care who sees you, anyway you don’t know anyone here. You don’t know how much Leila enjoys the fireworks, her lips laying kisses on your forehead or cheek at regular intervals. But you’d trade that moment for nothing.

"Why didn’t you want to celebrate New Year’s with your friends this year?" You ask Leila curiously, as you go back to the cottage a little after, still hand in hand.

You see her hesitating for a few seconds, frowning and thinking.

"I don’t know how to explain that. It just seemed more… right? Sorry if it doesn’t make sense."

You smile and shrug, without taking your eyes off her.

"I don’t know if it makes sense. But it’s without any hesitation the best New Year I’ve had."

The smile that Leila gives you takes your breath away and you find yourself having trouble swallowing your saliva so as not to jump on her in the middle of the street. Your trouble must have been perceived by your girlfriend, that being said, since she take you against her with the help of your hands entwined. She lets go of your hand only to pass it over your hips and whisper in the hollow of your ear
