~There's No Outworking Sickness~
This is just a little gift for @mxliv-oftheendless cause they're having a sick, shitty time. Hope you enjoy! <3
~Shandi
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Tooooommy, what are you doing~?"
"My..work.."
There was an extended moment of silence before he heard the heavy sound of boots walk closer and stop in his office doorway. The persistent tapping of StarChild's foot made Tomaziel flinch. "P-please..I just need to do this one thing--"
"Absolutely not. You're going to bed."
"But it needs to be done today.."
StarChild rolled his eyes. "Even when you're sitting down you can't help but sway. I've seen your papers. All you can write is nonsense because you're dizzy and you can't see straight."
"LIsten--" He couldn't even finish his sentence. As soon as he tried to get up, a wave of dizziness hit him like a ton of bricks, making him fall over. Fortunately for him, StarChild caught him before he collapsed onto the floor. "Tommy..you're deathly pale and you're burning up with fever. If you don't get yourself into bed right now, I'm going to carry you there myself."
A defeated sigh. "A-alright.."
"That's my good little SpaceMan~"
Now Tomaziel's face was flushed completely blue, and it wasn't because of fever.

Starchild: Alright, two truths and a lie.
Vince: Oh, I love this game!
Starchild: I beat up three people last week.
Vince: Well that’s obviously the lie.
Starchild: I had a passionate gay love affair with a man named François.
Vince: ... Is that the lie?
Starchild: And I’m a Sagittarius.
Vince: I thought you were a Capricorn...
Starchild: Haha, you got me!

The Star Covers: The Tale of The Starterian Princesses
Inspired by my previous work and by @ladyshandioftheendless kissteriaverse works, here’s a big backstory piece for the Star Covers universe
Millions of years ago, when the universe was still rather young and developing, an ancient woman created by the stars named Misera arrived. She was the goddess of magic and had a desire to create magical cosmic realms across the universe to expand her powers in unique ways. These magical realms are the Dimensions, each with its own cultures, traditions and civilizations, inhabited by the humanoid dimensionlings. Of the many dimensions she created, the first 12 dimensions helped kept the balance of magic strong and aligned. Starteria, Kissteria, Godsteria, Cloverteria, Duransteria, The Dark Clipse, Namnos, Saffron, Umbra, Krytis, Beatlemania and Monkeemania held their respective rocks with its own shapes and powers and the rocks kept magic thriving throughout millions of years.
After each of their creations, Misera blessed each of them with ancient artifacts called Talentments, powerful magical pieces that grants people highly advanced magic in order to protect the universe and expand their worlds. Starteria was blessed with 18 of these Talentments and the first rulers of the realm decided to gift these items to their 18 beloved daughters, the Starterian Princesses. The princesses Harmony, Faye, Amore, Electra, Gemma, Alina, Iris, Aqua, Nera, Rosina, Fern, Astra, Ember, Crystal, Raven, Glace, Solara, and Lunia possessed the music, mist, love, thunder, sparkles, diva, seasons, water, drums, nature, animals, space, fire, jewel, darkness, ice, sun, and moon Talentments respectively.
For years, the princesses struggled to balance their royal duties, their magical powers and their personal lives but overtime they became more logical and soon grew to be strong and independent young women. However, their story takes a turn for the worse on the night of the Festival of Music, an annual holiday that occurs on the first day of summer every year. It is a celebration of unity, music and love between the dimensions of the universe. On this particular night, the princesses were greeted by the princes of Kissteria and Princess Harmony, the oldest of the sisters, was feeling rather lonely.
“What’s going on sis?” Electra asked. She found her older sister sitting alone on her favourite balcony in the palace. Electra knows that Harmony hides there when she’s feeling down. “Prince Demon of Kissteria is waiting for a dance with you.”
“I know. I apologize. It’s just that our parents are expecting me to begin the trial of the rulers soon. Which means at some point I will be the ruler of this place.” Harmony explained. She soon shredded some tears and Electra came over to wipe them away. “Our parents will be gone soon and I may outlive you and the rest of our sisters because of the ruler spell.”
“You mean, the spell that grants the rulers longevity?” She asked and Harmony nodded. “Please, don’t worry about that right now. Tonight is supposed to be a joyful night. It’s not often that the Kissterian princes come here and I’m sure Demon wishes to see you.”
“But that’s the thing. If I become ruler, I’ll outlive him too. And I really want to be with him forever.”
“Well think about this. He’s a great man to you, despite his grumpy face and demonic attitude, he puts you on a pedestal because he loves you. And he’s a prince too. With both of your statuses and your undeniable love for each other, I’m certain you too will be ruling together.”
“But what about Kissteria?”
“Harmony. There’s 12 princes.” They both laughed and Harmony smiled at her younger sister. “Besides, if you two get bored of Kissteria or Starteria, Starchild and I will fill in for you guys once we get married.”
“Oh are you finally gonna propose to him? Didn’t you failed at that the last time you saw him?” Harmony teased her with a smirk
“Don’t bring that up!” She retorted as they both laughed. “But yeah I’m gonna try tonight. I really do love him and I hope he loves me too. Do I look good? Is my hair ok? What about my dress?!” Harmony patted her shoulders and moved a few loose strands of Electra’s dark raspberry hair back and looks into her grey eyes.
“Look you look wonderful tonight and Starchild is such a lovely and romantic guy. He compliments you endlessly. When I was talking to him earlier, he couldn’t stop talking about you and how amazing you are. I’m sure he will say yes.” Harmony soothed and Electra smiled at her
“Thanks sis. Now let’s go down. A party isn’t a party without all of the princesses. Besides, it’ll be fun watching Ember setting the dining room on fire.” Electra joked and Harmony rolled her eyes as they both walked back to the main stairway to the ballroom. The royal purple walls decorated with white pillars, golden streamers and pink flowers. As the two sisters head inside, Electra ran off to find her lover and Harmony stood next to one of the rainbow stained glass windows and observed the crowd. She watch Solara and Lunia laughing with their favourite soldiers in the Starterian Military, Bella Horizon and Keira Gleamington, over some funny stories they’ve gained over training. She saw her sister Glace flirt unsuccessfully with Princess Kazemi, the water princess of Cloverteria, and the neighbouring princess expressed joy and amusement at Glace’s cuteness. She even saw Amore ranting about the princesses instructors to Prince Catman and saw his confused expression throughout the chat.
“There you are!” A voice exclaimed joyously. Harmony looked up at her Prince Demon and smiled. She admired his red trench coat with gold button and white gloves along with his black vest and dress pants with brown boots. His face was covered in his iconic demon winged makeup and his hair was wavy and held in his usual ponytail. “I was worried that you got sick or something. Glad to see you safe and sound.”
“Oh don’t worry about it. Just tired that’s all dearest.” She assured and took his hand.
“Now that you’re here, we should have our dance together.” He commented and Harmony accepted and joined him on the white reflective floor. They both looked into each other’s eyes with endless love as he gently gripped her by the hand and waist. By the corner of her eye, she spotted Electra and Starchild standing together and smiling, with her face blushing bright red. Harmony knew for a fact that Starchild was praising her endlessly.
“Demon, I want to ask you, how would you feel if I become ruler of Starteria? My parents are already making plans for me to take the trial.” She asked nervously.
“My love, I understand your concerns but just know that I want you to be happy and if being a ruler doesn’t make you happy, you should tell your parents. Besides, you have multiple sisters who are willing to become ruler. And with Electra planning on proposing to Starchild, it’s possible you won’t have to worry about the trial anymore.” He explained and Harmony looked away worried as she glanced at her sister.
“But I want to live my life with you. Demon, you’re the most perfect man in the universe and I’m worried that if I become ruler, I’ll outlive you. I can’t do that to you.” She protested and Demon takes her hands and pulls her closer.
“Please. I’m not worried about that. But I am worried about one thing.” He confessed.
“What’s that?” She asked and watched him drop to one knee and she looked on surprised and started crying tears of joy. She looked up and saw Electra and Starchild giving her a thumbs up, learning that they were in on this situation.
“You are the love of my life, the most beautiful princess of them all and I don’t want to become ruler if it means I can’t be with you. You have made my life all the more special and worth living. So I ask you, will you make me the happiest prince on Kissteria and be my queen?” He asked, holding up a diamond ring and Harmony laughed joyfully and dropped down in front of him.
“Yes! How can I say no to that cute face?!” She kissed him and he slowly slipped the ring around her finger and they embraced as the crowd in the ballroom started cheering for the newly engaged couple. As they get up, they continued embracing and Harmony’s worries slowly melted away. “Your turn!” She called to Electra and she blushed redder than ever.
“What?! I uh..” She laughed nervously and Starchild looked at her with curiosity.
“What is she on about?” He asked sweetly. Soon Electra showed the diamond ring, burning in her pocket. He looked on surprised before smiling brightly. “Well this is a pleasant surprise.” He stated warmly before pulling out another diamond ring and she smiled brightly.
“Great minds think alike I suppose!” She joked and they both laughed warmly and they kissed.
“How long have you planned this?” He asked.
“For a while I guess” She answered with a laugh and they both embraced as the crowd cheered for them.
“About time. I was trying to get him to do something for months” Demon stated and they both laughed and hugged each other. Suddenly, Serena Eldress arrived. She was the royal adviser to King Lucidum and Queen Stella and she arrived with a frightened look on her face.
“Lady Eldress? What’s going on?” Harmony asked.
“The Dark Clipse. They are coming toward us. Crimson has arrived.” She alerted. Harmony looked out the windows and saw several monsters invading the city. Shadowmoons hunt down and attack any civilian they find in the streets.
“But I thought Crimson was imprisoned?” Demon assumed. He watched Serena hesitate and looks away before looking back at him.
“I don’t know what happened but she escaped from our clutches and then she returned home. Haven’t you heard that her father has been killed and she took over? She might be back to get her revenge on us all.” She explained and Harmony watched the chaos ensue outside
“Sisters, come on we need to save our people. I don’t know what Crimson wants but anyone who threatens our home is an automatic enemy of mine.” Harmony ordered. Her sisters nodded and they leave as fast as they can but Demon grabbed her hand
“Please you can’t face her. She has the ruler spell now which means she’s more powerful than before.” He warned
“I’m sorry but as the next ruler of Starteria, the safety of my people is my priority. Please seek shelter or return home love. We’ll meet once we clear the threat.” She promised.
“I hope you’re right. Please be safe my dear.” They both kissed each other lovingly before Harmony ran off with her sisters. Demon watched on terrified and Starchild hugged him
“Don’t worry. They’ll be ok.” He assured him. They turned to Lucidum and Stella who witnessed their departure and rushed from the scene.
Soon, the princesses faced the wrath of the new ruler of the Dark Clipse, Crimson. With her head covered by a large red and white mask and matching armour and clothing, the princesses could see the rage in her eyes.
“Crimson! Stop this invasion immediately!” Princess Faye ordered coldly but Crimson sends a large blast in her direction and she gets smacked into one of the palace towers.
“I am the Crimson Witch and this world will be mine. This is punishment for my imprisonment. What was the point honestly? All because I was sent on a mission to clear out some of you glittering scums. Sorry my father was a terrible person who didn’t know how to run a planet. But I’m here to make things better, starting with killing each one of you.” She declared and sends multiple blasts at each of them, each one stronger than the last. They’ve tried to hold their ground but soon the long battle ended when they were all out of breath. As they laid exhausted, Harmony saw her parents standing before them on a balcony, staring at their daughters tormentors.
“Crimson Witch, your reign of terror will come to an end!” The king declared and his queen created golden bubbles around their daughters.
“Darlings, it’s alright now. You’ll be safer than ever once you leave this place” Stella soothed them
“Where are we going?!” Aqua asked terrified
“Earth.” She answered. “You must try to survive on that planet until the threat is defeated. Please take this with you. It’s the first of its kind and I will send you a message through it once we figured everything out.” She explained before handing Harmony a small electronic device called a StarPhone. Technology in the dimensions has always been far more advanced than Earth but Harmony looked at it surprised
“Mom we can’t leave you behind!” Ember begged.
“You’re gonna have to this time. I love you all so much.” She gently whispered before launching them off, shedding a tear as she heard her daughters screaming in fear and sadness. Little didn’t she know that the princes, especially Demon and Starchild, watched them depart in fear and despair, begging for them to come back. The other young princes and princesses watched on horrified but watched as the king and queen send large golden rays to the Crimson Witch. The king and queen were certain that the entire world would fall into chaos if they weren’t any sort of protection. In a last ditch effort to prevent the Crimson Witch’s triumph, the couple embraced and kissed each other for the last time before shining bright violet auras and the light stretched across the sky as the witch watched the royal couple disappear, leaving behind a bright purple star-shaped gemstone.
“A rock?” She asked confused, cautiously stepping forward towards the ancient object. The rock of Starteria was finally created and magic would be balanced for eternity. The witch knew that her power would strengthen once she takes it for herself. She reaches before a beam of fire strikes her arm. Clutching it in pain, she looked to see Demon and Starchild, glaring at the tyrant.
“You’ve brought disaster to all of us. I don’t care that you became the ruler of the Dark Clipse. You’ve destroyed the legacy of your realm forever and endangered the people of Starteria! And until our princesses are returned, you and the Dark Clipse will no longer be our allies in the peace of the universe!” Demon declared and the Crimson Witch looked at the young princes and sends multiple blasts at them and used her powers to grow larger and destroyed a huge portion of the palace and a part of the palace lands on top of Demon and injured his shoulder.
“Demon!” Starchild screamed and pulls him up. “Lady Eldress! Please! Get the army out immediately! They need to help as many people as possible!” He ordered and Serena nodded and ran back. Many soldiers ran and killed various monsters across the city and people ran in a panic. The world was changing in the worst ways possible as soldiers were murdered, royal families torn apart, and for the first time in the dimensions history, the 12 supreme dimensions were locked into a brutal war against the most powerful and dangerous woman in the Dark Clipse
——————————————————————————
Harmony awoke on the grassy terrain of the earth. The sky was dark and covered with stars and tiny grey clouds. It had seemed like days since the princesses were transported to the earth from their home and Harmony looked around and saw her sisters, sitting on the grass, mixes of emotions on their faces. Anger, fear, confusion and grief.
“Are you all alright?” She asked and they all nodded and she looked at Princess Nera, who was pacing angrily around the hillside
“I can’t believe this! That stupid Crimson had no reason to attack us! Like yeah I get it, getting imprisoned is annoying and trust me I would be too, but that’s not an excuse to attack our home! What did she get out of this!?” She yelled annoyed. She was always the most aggressive of the princesses so the others weren’t that surprised with her behaviour.
“I just hope that the others are ok up there.” Amore hoped. Harmony looked up at the stars, tearing up, thinking about her parents and her lover.
“Me too. Also that timing is just unfair, especially when you two just got engaged.” Glace remarked and Harmony looked at Electra, who was shaking in fear over the idea of losing her prince.
“Look we’re gonna be alright. We just need to find a way back to Starteria.” Harmony declared
“How?! We’re stuck on a practically unknown planet to us, our home is invaded by monsters, and there’s no one here who can help us!” Ember questioned.
“Seriously, this whole situation is ridiculous! It’s hopeless!” Gemma remarked
“We just need to have hope. There is a way to bring things back together. We just need to get going and find a way back. And when we get back, we’re gonna have to remove the spell off of that witch” Harmony decided
“You mean Crimson?” Aqua asked
“No The Crimson Witch. She’s no longer the same person as she used to be. By removing the spell off of her, we can get rid of all our problems.”
“But she hasn’t produced an heir.” Iris pointed out
“Doesn’t matter. What matters is keeping our people safe from her tyranny and destroy every enemy in our path. Now, if I remember from my studies, there should be a Guardian Spire somewhere on this planet so we can use that to get back home and stop her” Harmony informed. Guardian Spires are large temples where people can transport from earth to dimensions, each one for the supreme dimension in a different part of the world.
“You think we can do it?” Alina asked
“We need hope in this fight right now. Come on. Let’s see what we could find.” Harmony ordered and ran down to the bottom of the hill. Her sisters knew she was stubborn as hell about anything she sets her mind on. They slowly got up and joined her as she walked out. They travelled across the valley for a little while until Harmony stood at the edge of the valley in shock.
“What’s happening?” Electra asked. She looked down with the rest and everyone stood in shock and held back tears. Down below, there was a village where Shadowmoons were roaming freely, attacking and killing civilians, and destroying homes, setting them ablaze.
“She’s here.” Harmony replied grimly. Just as she stated, The Crimson Witch rose from the burning village and spotted them
“There you are. You don’t know how long I’ve been looking for you but thankfully you hand delivered yourself to me. You really think you have a chance against me? I am the leader of the greatest dimension in existence and once I kill all of you, Starteria will be mine as well. Now don’t worry, Starteria will be in good hands.” She declared, sending off large golden rays at them. The group tried to deflect the attacks, but one by one, they failed and were vaporized instantly, leaving only their talentments behind. Harmony watched in horror as she watched her sisters die in front of her, tears streaming down her face and the witch smirked at her misery
“How could you?!” She screamed in disbelief and agony
“Take this as a lesson princess. None of this would’ve happened if you haven’t have trapped me in the first place. But you don’t have to worry about being leader anymore as I will be a better leader than you’ll ever be. I’ll destroy every dimension you’ve come in contact with and this waste of a planet to show you how powerful I can be.” She promised and Harmony glared at her
“You shouldn’t underestimate this planet.” She warned
You shouldn’t underestimate me.” She warned, sending on more blast quickly, vaporizing Harmony instantly and leaving her talentment behind, successfully ending the royal family of Starteria forever. She looked at the talentments, lying on the ground and goes to touch one. But as she did, the ground began to tremble underneath her and she fell over. She flew up from the ground and looked at the earth’s surface, cracks forming on the ground and she looked on surprised. Additionally, bright rainbow light shoots out of the ground and strikes her in the arm.
“What is that?!” She asked annoyed. She creates a shield around her and flies into the crack and notices a large rainbow light orb in the centre of the planet. “Hmm interesting.” She remarked, rushing to get a hold of the orb but she gets zapped by its powerful energy. She saw her arm gaining a rainbow scar on her arm and knew it was time to leave. This power was more powerful than she imagined and had to leave it behind. She flew and saw the talentments falling through the cracks. As she desperately wanted to get that power, she tried to grab them quickly but her arm twitched in pain over the scar she had received. She had no choice but to leave her goal behind and flies off to the Dark Clipse above the planet. The rainbow lights slowly dimmed and the planets cracks slowly healed over the years and soon the memory of the planets rainbow orb was forgotten.
——————————————————————————
The Star Covers stared in horror and disbelief over what was just presented to them. The Eldress sat in her throne, looking grim and guilty. It is clear that the dimensions were never the same after the witch’s attack and The Eldress taking the role of leader was not a decision made by her.
“So what happened to the princes?” Cassie asked.
“After the princesses were killed, the princes were so devastated that they remained in their dimension till the end of their reign, refusing to marry another. As a result, no heir to the throne was conceived. So the position was passed onto the current ruler The Elder. She was a member of the royal family who took the position after the tragic death of her parents and arrest of her older brother.” She answered
“And the Dark Clipse started destroying dimensions left and right?” Tanya questioned
“They do. But they haven’t dare attempt to attack us yet because she knows I was there. That’s why we don’t allow any Dark Clipse scoundrels into our beloved dimension.” She responded
“But surely they all aren’t bad people right?” Maya questioned
“My dear, The Dark Clipse is full of monsters and criminals. They will soon spread their villainy onto their children.” She added. “Even the ones who defected from that place who ended up here.” All The Star Covers were a bit surprised by her statement but they kept that feeling to themselves.
“And you girls are gonna save us from them. They have caused enough harm to this world and the rest of the universe. But thanks to the ancient prophecy, you girls have enough power to end their reign of terror and destruction upon the rest of the dimension. We are all counting on you and I’m certain that you will free us from our enemies and sins. Now you better hurry back home. You said you have school in the morning.” She concluded. Everyone started leaving the new futuristic city of Starteria and started taking the large elevator of the Tower of Stars.
“Katherine. Come here will you?” She asked. Katherine turned to the leader and came to her. She looked at her leaders bright purple eyes and her serious expression
“Yes Eldress?” She asked with a small smile.
“Listen to me. The rest will be counting on you for guidance and support. As a leader you must never let your thoughts control you. Guardians are meant to protect and serve the people at all times and if you must do everything in your power to protect them, even lose your own life, then that is a duty you must be willing to take on. Their lives are precious and they must be your priority. Understood?” She explained.
“Yes. I would do anything for my family and friends. But why are you asking me this?” She asked
“Harmony was the oldest of her sisters. They were following her guidance and it resulted in their deaths. You can’t let the same fate happen to your friends.” She explained. Katherine didn’t knew how to feel but knew that The Eldress is very intelligent and very respectful so Katherine simply nodded.
“Understood. They’ll be safe and I’ll do whatever it takes to help them.” The Eldress smiled warmly. She patted Katherine’s shoulder and wished her safe travels back to Earth. Katherine joined her friends and came to the guardian spire, a huge amount of pressure laying on her as she watched her friends embrace each other. They activate the console inside the bright purple guardian spire and a large light surrounds them and they fly off and land on earth. Outside, they saw Kiss outside waiting for them.
“So how was it?” Gene asked.
“There was a lot that they never told us.” Hailey answered.
“It’s like they want us to get killed.” Kelsey remarked annoyed.
“The Eldress went through that whole experience remember. She probably is still shaken up by it.” Paul informed. “I wouldn’t be so quick to judge right now. Come on, let’s go home.” They got inside of their cars. They had a long drive from Boyd’s Cove to St. John’s and it was already 8 pm. Katherine went over to Paul and she looks up at the small red star in the sky.
“Paul do you think we’ll stop them from attacking the earth?” She asked
“We’ve been fighting them for over 30 years now. Even though we’ve had so many losses and injuries, I still have hope that things will get better. As long as we help each other and everyone else, we’ll be just fine. Trust me ok? Everything’s gonna be alright.” He assured her. Katherine nods and joins her friends in Gene’s car. However, during the drive, she couldn’t stop thinking about what The Eldress told her
“Harmony led her sisters and it resulted in their deaths. You can’t let the same mistake happen again. If you must sacrifice your life to protect everyone, that is a duty you are willing to take on.” Katherine realized that guardians are here to protect, they don’t have time for themselves. Katherine knew what needs to be done
“I’ll make sure none of my friends gets killed. I’m a guardian and I will fight to keep them safe. I don’t know how but it’s my life and I will use it to protect them”

This is the direct sequel to Burned Again.
Summary: Nikolai invites Akai over to dinner to meet his family.
This was written as a True Love’s kiss prompt between Akai and Nikolai requested by @cosmicrealmofkissteria
Thank you Shandi and @misslivvie for helping me brainstorm ideas again and for helping me piece out this long story. Whew! 10 pages, folks…but I didn’t have the heart to cut anything out.
Rating: T for language and innuendos.
Pairing: DemonAnkh and Nikai
………………………………………………………………………………………………..
“She is fire, he is ice.
One glimpse of her ignites
His stone-cold eyes
The heat of her body
Melts the frozen parts of his heart
He walks through flames
Just to feel her warmth.”
-Christy Ann Martine
Vinneketh had spent the greater part of the afternoon making sure the dining table was set to perfection. Black colored napkins accented the gold colored table cloth. The finest porcelain china and silverware were placed delicately upon the napkins. A few eucalyptus candles were placed on each end.  In the center of the table was a delicious culinary display of buttery rolls, a vibrant colored vegetable salad, golden honey drizzled dates, and a plate of smoked fish that looked proud to be dead.
Vinneketh smiled at his hard work. He loved having guests over for dinner and took great pride in his cooking. When Nikolai announced he was bringing a special lady friend home, the dancer knew this occasion called for his best dinner recipes. The sound of lip smacking snapped him out of his light trance.
“Demon! That’s your eighth roll! Save some for the guest,” Vinneketh sighed, pulling the bread basket away from him.
“Hmph! Of all the eligible women he could have picked, he just had to fall for The FireChild,” Demon snorted, licking the last bit of buttery goodness off his fingers.
“Beloved, I want you to be kind to our guest. The poor child has had to deal with so much trauma already.”
Demon looked up at his husband as if he had lost his mind. “She’s dealt with trauma!? What about Asim? Did you see the scars on her after the fire? It’s a miracle she’s still alive! I can’t believe you’re allowing that ticking time bomb into our home and around Ayesha! They should have locked that pyrokinetic maniac up and threw away the key!”
Vinneketh scoffed, putting his hands on his hips. “Darling, may I remind you that I was at her trial with Master Radames. I’ve faced many evil adversaries in my time, and I can assure you that girl is no monster. The fire was an accident.”
“Accident or not that does not erase what she’s done. What if she has another accident tonight? Nikolai and I are fireproof but you and Ayesha are not!” Demon growled, reaching for another roll.
“Beloved!” Vinneketh hissed, slapping his husband’s gluttonous hand away from the bread basket. “She’s under great guidance now.”
“Dahlia thinks she needs more training,” Demon deadpanned, sneaking a date off the table to munch on much to his Treasure’s annoyance.
Vinneketh sighed and rolled his eyes. “Beloved, please, our son seems quite fond of her.”
“Yeah, Nikolai even says her name in his sleep,” Ayesha giggled, nibbling on a roll that she had cleverly stolen while Vinneketh was guarding them from Demon.
Vinneketh grabbed the bread basket, holding it tightly to his chest. “No more rolls until dinner!”
Ayesha grinned, slipping her Baba another roll much to her Aiutu’s displeasure.
“I swear between you two we won’t have anything left for dinner,” Vinneketh said, squinting his eyes at the two sneaky roll thieves.
Demon smirked while splitting the roll with his daughter. “You say that like it’s a bad thing. No food means no dinner with The FireChild.”
“You know, StarChild thinks very highly of her.” Vinneketh added, straightening up a nearby napkin.
“Pah! She’s his number one stalker! All of KISSteria knows about her little infatuation with the Star Prince. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s using my son to get close to StarChild,” Demon grunted, chewing up the last bit of the roll.
“Why would you even think such a thing?” Vinneketh scoffed, setting the bread basket back down on the table in a huff.
“Think about it, Treasure. I’m StarChild’s blood brother. I’m bound to him for life. She’s using Nikolai to get to StarChild. Our son is far too good to be somebody’s pawn!”
Ayesha looked concerned. She did not like the idea of her brother getting played at all. Still in deep thought, she exited the dining room while chewing on her roll piece.
Vinneketh sighed. “Beloved, you’re over reacting. If you behave tonight, I’ll make sure you get a special dessert later on,” he purred, wrapping his arms around Demon’s shoulders.
Demon grinned lewdly. “I do like your special desserts.”
The two had time to share a brief kiss before Ayesha called for them.
“Aiutu! Baba! They’re here!”
Ayesha ran over to give her big brother a tight hug. The young demon male laughed lightly, returning the loving embrace. He was getting used to these hugs! Akai smiled warmly at the two siblings.
“I don’t like this…not at all,” Demon said in a sing-song voice low enough for Vinneketh to hear.
“Are you going to be this problematic when Ayesha starts dating?” Vinneketh whispered back.
Demon looked offended. “Treasure, don’t be ridiculous! If anyone looks at our little girl in a lustful way, they will be dead before crossing the threshold,” he chuckled darkly.
“Ayesha, this is Akai. Akai, this is my sister, Ayesha,” Nikolai smiled, introducing the two.
Ayesha looked up at the tall, pale skinned, red headed woman fidgeting awkwardly beside her brother. The FireChild didn’t look quite as menacing as her Baba had described.
“Hello Ayesha! It’s a pleasure to meet you! I love your dark pink headscarf,” Akai said sweetly, extending her hand to Ayesha.
Ayesha smiled. “Thank you! It’s a pleasure to meet you as well,” she responded, reaching out to shake Akai’s hand.
“Ayesha! Stop!” Demon bellowed out, pulling Ayesha away from Akai before the two could make physical contact.
“Father, what are you doing?” Nikolai asked, scoffing at his father’s absurd behavior.
“Baba didn’t get his hug today,” Demon awkwardly added, hugging Ayesha tightly against his chest, glaring daggers at Akai. “You better not break my son’s heart!”
“Akai! My dear! Welcome to our home!” Vinneketh jumped in to prevent an awkward scenario, hugging Akai tightly.
“Treasure…that’s enough contact,” Demon whispered harshly through clenched teeth.
“I’m Vinneketh and that obnoxious brute is my husband, Demon,” he said, holding Akai’s hands, side eyeing Demon a warning, daring him to say something else!
“Thank you for inviting me into your home,” Akai said, bowing her head in respect. “I have brought you both a thank you gift from Earth.” Akai offered Vinneketh a bottle of expensive wine from Napa Valley.
“Ooh a vintage wine! Isn’t that nice, Beloved?” Vinneketh grinned, nudging Demon in the side.
“Oh yes, just what we need! Igniting fluid for the fire!” Demon complained, looking up at the sky as if to ask the Gods, why me?
Akai shifted her eyes around the room uncomfortably.
“Father, what exactly are you trying to imply?” Nikolai asked, narrowing his eyes in suspicion.
“Why don’t we go into the dining room?” Vinneketh suggested, ushering everyone into the next room.  When no one was looking, Vinneketh mouthed “Behave” to a disinterested Demon.
Akai and Nikolai sat together on one side of the table while Demon and Vinneketh sat directly across from them. Ayesha was about to sit next to Akai until Demon objected.
“Ayesha! Come sit over here next to Baba.”
“Father, Ayesha is a grown woman. She can sit with whoever she chooses,” Nikolai said coolly, staring his father down.
Ayesha was torn. A part of her wanted to sit next to Akai to learn more of this mysterious woman, but she didn’t want to disobey her Baba either.
“Yeah, but she’s safer over here,” Demon growled at Nikolai.
“Right…she’s much safer next to a fire-breathing, short-tempered demon,” Nikolai spat, rolling his eyes.
“It’s Okay, Nikolai. Ayesha can sit with her father,” Akai said kindly, gesturing to the scowling demon in front of her.
Vinneketh said a prayer over the food, offering thanks to the Gods for the bountiful harvest and for bringing the family together. When Vinneketh offered a thanks for the guest, Demon let out a loud snort to which Vinneketh kicked him under the table. Once the prayer was over, silence befell upon the table while everyone ate. The tension was so thin it could be cut with a butter knife. Akai tried to keep her eyes solely on her plate. Every time she looked up; a pair of angry eyes were glaring at her. She didn’t know who was worse. Ayesha glared while cutting into her fish as if to send Akai a subtle message. Demon would let out a lofty growl, clutching onto the water pitcher beside him.
“Say something nice to our guest,” Vinneketh whispered to Demon as he took a bite of his salad.
Demon thought for a minute and then blurted out, “That was pretty hilarious when you set those KISSterian nobles on fire at the castle!”
Akai dropped her fork on the floor, looking up in horror. Vinneketh facepalmed himself. He didn’t know why he bothered anymore!
“Really, father?” Nikolai scoffed, looking up from his plate.
Demon shrugged. He couldn’t understand why everyone was so annoyed with him. “What? It’s a compliment! I hate those snobs! That was the only good thing that came of that nigh—” Demon was silenced by a roll shoved in his mouth by Vinneketh.
“So, how did you two meet?” Vinneketh asked sweetly, using his fork to gesture from Akai to Nikolai.
Akai grinned shyly, looking at Nikolai. “We met at the KISSterian Court.”
“The night of the fire?” Demon asked with a mouthful of roll.
“Yes, father, that night,” Nikolai replied dryly before taking another bite out of his salad.
“Nikolai asked me to dance. Well, he tried to at first but his head collided with a low hanging chandelier,” Akai snickered.
Ayesha giggled lightly at the thought of her brother making a fool out of himself in public.
“I still have the bump on my forehead too,” he smiled back at Akai.
“Gracefulness does run in Demon’s family,” Vinneketh teased, smiling slyly at Demon who merely snorted in return.
“After I got my head bandaged, I came back and asked again. She surprisingly said yes. So, we danced, me all banged up and bloody bandaged, and Akai, beautiful and radiant as a ruby,” Nikolai swooned, grabbing Akai’s hand. She lightly gasped at his cooling touch. She knew she should be used to it by now but it still seemed to always catch her by surprise.
Akai blushed at the compliment. “Well, how could I say no? Your clumsiness was so adorable,” she smiled, looking into his captivating dark eyes.
“Is that when you caught the castle on fire?”
And like a screeching record, the tender moment was gone thanks to Demon.
“Demon!” Vinneketh hissed, smacking him on the shoulder.
“Actually, how do we know when you’re about to ignite?” Demon added quickly, receiving another swift smack from his Treasure.
“Father, that’s not very appropriate,” Nikolai interjected, using his other hand to pinch the bridge of his nose in frustration.
Akai shifted uncomfortably in her seat. “Noit’s okay. I understand why you’d be so curious. Well…it happens when I lose control of my emotions. I used to think it only happened whenever I was angry, but I’ve recently discovered from the Sisterhood that it can happen anytime whenever my hormone levels are high.”
“So, you can ignite yourself during intercourse too?” Demon asked casually, chewing on another roll.
Akai choked on her water. At once the room erupted in collective gasps and surprised shouts.
“Father!”
“Baba!”
“Beloved!”
Demon shrugged again. “What? Nikolai’s room is right next to ours. I have a right to know what happens when he sticks his log into the firepit.”
Ayesha had broken out into a fit of uncontrollable giggles. Blushing a bright red, Akai wanted to crawl under the table and die. Vinneketh and Nikolai were both shooting Demon venomous glares.
Desperate to change the subject, Akai chimed in, “Vinneketh, this food is delicious! The fish is cooked to perfection.”
Vinneketh smiled, placing his hand on his heart when he spoke, “Why, thank you, my dear! It’s an old family recipe.”
Before Akai could reply, Demon jumped in, “Yeah, too bad it’s not burnt to a crisp like you did to poor Asim.”
And there it was, the elephant in the room. The one topic Akai was afraid would get brought up tonight. It was obvious Demon hated her from the start. She had hoped, no prayed, it would not get brought up. She couldn’t even bring herself to make eye contact with anyone at the table. Nikolai kept stroking her hand as if to reassure her that everything was going to be okay.
Akai’s breathing hitched. “It…it was an accident, I swear…”
“Your accident nearly killed a close friend of ours!” Demon shouted, slamming his fist on the table.
“Father, stop this at once! You’re upsetting her!” Nikolai shouted, feeling Akai start to tremble anxiously.
Vinneketh grabbed Demon’s arm. “Beloved, this is not an appropriate conversation at the dinner table!”
Akai closed her eyes. She could hear the screams and smell the fire smoke. She tried to picture Asim. Alone and afraid. Her body engulfed with fire, screaming for help. Just screaming for someone, anyone to stop the pain.
“I…I…I’m so sorry…I’m sorry,” Akai’s voice cracked as is she was talking to a burnt Asim laying before her. She could feel a knot in her stomach that was working its way up her throat.
“Sorry is not going to change the past. You hurt her! She will most likely never recover from these injuries!” Demon roared, pointing an accusing finger at Akai.
Akai’s breathing became erratic. “I’m sorry…” A sob escaped from her throat.
“Father! I said…LEAVE HER ALONE!” Nikolai’s voice shifted into a warped demonic tone. His eyes rolled into the back of his head, revealing two white orbs in the eye sockets. Releasing Akai’s hand, he clutched onto the table, baring his fangs, growling like a vicious beast.
“What is happening?” Ayesha asked, noticing a change in the environment. The power flickered on and off a few times before shutting off completely. The only light source came from the soft candlelight glow on the table.
“DON’T YOU DARE BARE YOUR FANGS AT ME, BOY!” Demon’s demonic voice roared. His eyes rolled into the back of his head. The candle lights casted eerie shadows on their faces, giving them a more sinister appeal.
With a sudden strong guest of wind, the room temperature started to rapidly drop to a freezing degree. Within seconds, it felt like being inside of a freezer. Tiny water droplets on the glasses began to crystalize into icicles. Thick clouds of condensation escaped out of everyone’s mouths.
“Oh, Goddess! It’s freezing in here!” Akai yelped, shivering from the intense cold.
“It’s s…s…s…so c..c…c…cold,” Ayesha said through chattering teeth, folding herself into a fetal position to attain body warmth.
“Nikolai, stop this at once!” Vinneketh demanded, rushing over to comfort Ayesha.
Was Nikolai manipulating the temperature? Akai looked at the younger demon in fear. Nikolai had always been so calm and collected around her. She had never seen his demonic side or knew much about his power. She had only just discovered how cold his touch was to hers. It made sense that he could control ice.
Demon and Nikolai kept baring their fangs and snarling at each other like two rabid dogs about to fight to the death. Things were spiraling out of control too fast.
“Oh no,” Akai whispered as a little flame lit up on her hand. It quickly started to spread up her arm. Under regular circumstances, she would have welcomed the fire for warmth but right now was not a good time to lose control!
Ayesha saw the fire spread up Akai’s arm and immediately grabbed the water pitcher next to Demon and threw the water on Akai. Akai screamed bloody murder at the icy water stung painfully on her skin. It felt like thousands of glass shards were stabbing into her arm.
“ENOUGH!” Vinneketh bellowed as a blast of magical energy coursed through the room. With a snap of his fingers, the power came back on and the room temperature reverted back to normal. Demon and Nikolai were morphing back into their regular selves while Akai sat in shock, trembling from the pain in her arm.
“Akai, dear, are you quite alright?” Vinneketh asked in concern, noticing the bright pink shade on her arm.
“I…need to be excused,” Akai sniffled, storming out of the room. Ayesha got up and followed her out.
“Akai, I…” Nikolai tried to say but Akai wouldn’t even look at him as she left the room. He tried to get up to go after her but with another magical burst of energy, he remained glued to his seat, looking up at Vinneketh with pleading eyes.
“You’re not going anywhere near her until you calm down!
Vinneketh turned his attention to the ultimate troublemaker of the night. “And you…I want to have a word in private.”
“But Treasure…”
“NOW!” Vinneketh shouted in a tone that echoed all throughout Sphynxia.
And like a flick of the switch, the big bad demon was reduced to a scared little puppy.
“Yes dear…” he mumbled, following Vinneketh with his head bowed in shame.
Akai had managed to find a nearby bathroom. She sobbed quietly, examining her arm. It felt numb to the touch. A gentle knock was heard at the door. Ayesha came in with a warm towel and a potion bottle.
“This will help make the inflammation go down,” she said softly, applying the cooling liquid on Akai’s injured arm. It felt nice. Not nearly as soothing as Nikolai’s touch, but still just as effective.
“T…thank you,” Akai sniffled, watching as the inflammation slowly started to go down.
“I’m sorry I threw the water on you. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I was just afraid that if Baba saw you in flames then things would have gotten much worse,” Ayesha explained, looking up at Akai with apologetic eyes.
“It’s okay, Ayesha. I understand,” her voice trembled. “I’m not upset about that. It’s just…I’m so tired of everyone hating me for something that I had no control over at the time. I’m aware I hurt innocent people. It’s something I have to live with every day for the rest of my life. I’m learning more and more about my power each day. And I’m trying my best to contain it.”
Ayesha placed a comforting hand on Akai’s shoulder. “I believe you, Akai. You’re very remorseful over your past actions. You don’t seem like the type that would hurt anyone on purpose. I’m just…I have to know, are you using my brother to get with Prince StarChild?”
Akai looked at the stern younger woman with wide eyes. “What? No, of course not! Yes, I have a soft spot for StarChild because he saved me from life imprisonment, but I know we’re never meant to be. Besides I would never use anyone like that, especially your brother! Nikolai…means a lot to me,” her voice trailed off.
Ayesha nodded in approval. “You mean a lot to him too. It takes real foolhardiness to challenge Baba like that!”
Akai smiled, shaking her head. “Nikolai has always been good to me. He was the first real friend I ever had. He’s such a great guy. He’s so sweet, so charming, so intelligent…he’s so…” Akai was lost in deep thought. “He deserves better. I’ve caused too much trouble already. I’m sorry, Ayesha. I have to go,” Akai said abruptly, pulling her arm away and running out the door.
Vinneketh paced back and forth in the kitchen. “Beloved, I am appalled by your rude behavior tonight! What has gotten into you!? You insult our guest and threaten our son!”
Demon folded his arms in defense. “Well, he bared his fangs at me first and excuse me for trying to protect my family from danger!”
Vinneketh threw his arms up in the air. “Danger? What danger? Darling, Akai has done nothing wrong tonight! You’re the one antagonizing her. We’re all having to protect her from YOU.”
Demon paused in thought. It was true. Akai had been polite and not done anything to warrant such hostility. “I’m…sorry, Treasure.”
Vinneketh sighed, placing his arms around Demon. “Beloved, I remember a certain misunderstood demon with quite a past. I heard many troublesome stories about you but that didn’t keep me away from you, did it?”
“No…it didn’t,” Demon sighed, leaning his forehead on Vinneketh’s forehead.
“Remember how many people objected to our relationship in the beginning?”
Demon tensed up. “Yes…and they had no right to try to keep us apart!”
Vinneketh stroked Demon’s cheek lovingly. “Exactly. They were convinced you would wreck my heart and my homeland. But you know what? We proved them all wrong, dearest! You proved yourself a hero and we proved to them all that we belong together.”
“Yes…Yes, we did,” Demon said softly, rubbing his hands around Vinneketh’s waist. “I would be so lost without you.”
Vinneketh smiled, placing a sweet kiss on Demon’s forehead. “Now don’t you think Akai deserves that same chance too? You both have a lot more in common than you realize.”
Demon sighed. “You’re right, my love. I…didn’t think about it that way.” He then smiled warmly at the man who had danced his way right into his black heart so long ago. “You really are a treasure.”
The two shared a long passionate kiss. Demon tilted Vinneketh’s head back to deepen the kiss, rubbing his hands up and down the slender man’s back. Vinneketh smiled into the kiss, pulling Demon closer to him. They were getting lost in their loving embrace, forgetting about the world around them until Nikolai’s voice rang through the house.
“Akai! Wait!”
Nikolai had appeared before Akai, blocking her path to the exit.
“Nikolai, I have to go. Your father does not want us together…no one wants us together. We’ll never be accepted by anyone.” She shook her head in anger. “I’ve hurt too many innocent people. You deserve someone better.”
“To hell with what he thinks or anyone thinks! Fuck that noise! You’re a good person. You didn’t do it on purpose,” Nikolai insisted still persistently blocking Akai from leaving.
“Just let me go…” She was trying her hardest not to cry. “Why the hell do you care so damn much!?” she screamed, trying to push her way around him.
“Because I love you!”
Akai looked at him in disbelief. She was expecting him to apologize for a slip of the tongue or even look remotely ashamed but neither of those things happened. Softened brown eyes met curious blue ones.
“I love you, Akai. I…I always have. Please don’t go. I don’t want to be with anyone else. I know I’m not StarChild. Hell, I’ll never be anything like him but I do love you so much. I want to be with you,” he said softly, grabbing her warm hands. The warm feeling that he had loved since the first time they made physical contact, knowing deep down he couldn’t live without her touch.
Akai felt like she was in a dream like state. Time had stood still as she kept her gaze locked on his. Something about him soothed the fiery beast within her and it seemed as though she was able to soothe the cold beast within him. They needed each other.
“I love you too, Nikolai,” she confessed, realizing that he was in fact her missing piece.
Nikolai captured her lips in a deep kiss, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist, pulling her closer. Akai smiled into the cooling comfort of the kiss, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist. What happened next surprised everyone in the room. Akai’s body began to glow in a vibrant red colored energy. Nikolai’s body lit up in an electric blue colored energy. The red and blue colored flames crackled and sizzled together as the bodies intertwined into one. Heat and cold energy circulated between them. As soon as the kiss ended, the energy waves ceased.
“Akai…” came Demon’s voice.
Nikolai and Akai turned their attention over to the surprised audience all watching slack jawed just a few feet away.
Demon rubbed awkwardly at the back of his neck. “I haven’t been very fair to you…to both of you,” he gestured to Nikolai before turning back to Akai. “It would be my honor if you would stay.”
“Really?” she asked surprised at the sudden change of Demon’s temperament.
“Yeah, really. So…umm…welcome to the family!” he said hastily, grabbing Nikolai and Akai, pulling them in for an intense, python-like group hug. Nikolai and Akai gasped and looked at each other in a mix of shock and horror while Ayesha and Vinneketh observed the trio fondly.
As soon as Demon released them from his iron grip he announced, “Alrightlet’s get back to dinner. C’mon Ayesha! Those last two buttery rolls have our names on them.” Grabbing Ayesha’s hand, he led the way back into the dining room.
Vinneketh sighed, shaking his head in amusement. “Well…at least we’re making progress.”
“Is he always like that?” Akai asked Nikolai, gesturing to Demon.
Nikolai sighed, rubbing his temples. “I’m afraid so…it’ll be something you’ll have to get used to…that is if you decide to stay.” Worry washed over his face in case Akai still decided to leave.
Akai grinned, nuzzling up to him. “I’m not going anywhere without you, Nikolai.”
“You two better not be doing any inappropriate stuff! Not until we at least fire and ice proof this place!” Demon called out from the other room.
Vinneketh was about to object until he realized this time his Beloved did have a valid point…
Nikolai groaned, rolling his eyes. Akai smirked, hooking her finger around Nikolai’s finger. The red and blue energy returned on their hands as the two followed Vinneketh back into the dining room.

Tomaziel was on Cloud Nine.
While StarChild had originally visited Jendell for diplomatic purposes, the meetings had reached a satisfying conclusion a lot earlier than anyone thought possible. That left the Star Prince with at least three days of relative peace. This situation worked to Tomaziel’s advantage. He had asked StarChild to spend at least one of his free days with him and had his offer graciously accepted. Now they were together. Alone. Tomaziel struggled with his insecurities to make certain StarChild enjoyed himself. They shared a dinner in the Palace’s gardens and were now walking along one of Jendell’s most beautiful features. A beach with sparkling black sand. How Tomaziel longed to hold StarChild’s hand as they walked, but he was always afraid he would be overstepping his boundaries. StarChild was still a Prince after all, and he was a lowly King’s aide.
When StarChild stopped, Tomaziel turned to him with a concerned expression. “Prince StarChild, are you in need of rest? I can take you to a place where you can sit..”
“No..I’m fine.” As he watched the sun set, Tomaziel spotted the glittering tears rolling down his cheeks. “It’s just that..I have never seen anything like this up close..”
“Surely you have seen the sun set before..”
“Yes but..nothing like this. Sunsets on my world are nothing compared to those on Jendell. They’re different. I daresay..magical. The colors in the sky. The twinkling stars. The smell of the ocean. The way the light makes the sand glisten. I didn’t expect it to..overwhelm me so much..”
“P-Prince StarChild..you’re crying..!” Tomaziel quickly reached into his coat and pulled out his personal handkerchief. “Please, take this. I’m sorry for upsetting you.”
StarChild laughed. “Don’t be ridiculous, I’m not upset!” He took the handkerchief and wiped his tear stained cheeks. “I’ll never be able to properly thank you for what you’ve shown me today.”
“Then..you’re happy..?”
“Very much so~”
“I..I’m glad to hear that. The last thing I would want to do is upset you..”
“Has anyone ever told you how very considerate you are?”
“Not..until now..”
“I suppose I will have to tell you more often~”
“I..” He turned away from the Star Prince’s amused gaze, attempting to hide the bluish tinge to his cheeks.
“You’re quite adorable when you blush like that~”
“Perhaps..we should be heading back. It still gets..quite cold at night..”
~*~
It was difficult for Tomaziel to say goodbye. They’d had such a perfect day together. Talking. Laughing. Being close to each other. Sharing feelings. It was a shame the day had to end. Who knows when they would see each other again? He sighed, which caught StarChild’s attention.
“Is there something troubling you?”
“No. I just.. I wish this day didn’t have to end.”
“As do I. Pity we can’t stop time.” StarChild stuffed the handkerchief back into Tomaziel’s vest pocket. “Regardless..I had a wonderful time today. We will have to do it again the next time I visit~”
“W-would you? I..would like that very much.”
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to be romantic~”
StarChild just smiled as Tomaziel began to stutter. He stepped into his room and closed the door. “Goodnight now~”
Still a stuttering mess, Tomaziel returned to his own room. Once he closed the door, he leaned against it. His cheeks felt like they were on fire. “Gods..has he figured me out? Is he making fun of me?” He pulled out his handkerchief. It still had glitter from StarChild’s tears. And his scent.. Tomaziel pressed the handkerchief against his cheek and closed his eyes.
“No.. He could’ve kept this. He wanted me to have it.”
He smiled, giving the handkerchief a gentle kiss.
“I’ll never forget you, my Prince..never.”

What's your favorite thing about starterror and stardemon?
OKAY IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO COME UP WITH A DECENT REPLY TO THIS SO APOLOGIES. 😅😅
Aw man it's been a while since I've been on the StarTerror train. I shipped them HARD in my KISSteriaverse~ I relied so much on the 'opposites attract' trope for them and for a while it was fantastic! For me, Nikki is one of the epitomes of the 'bad boy' trope, as terrible as that is. XD I thought he and StarChild would be great together! Until they weren't.
But that's a story for another time.
I actually never thought that much about StarDemon? I never really shipped them tbh. I know sounds like blasphemy because of how close they are. XD I have explored that avenue in one of my AU stories but not many. I dunno their broship is too strong for me to ship them any other way. 😕

Strangers with Memories
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY PEOPLE!! Or, if you don't like Valentines Day, it is also the birthday of @ladyshandioftheendless!!! So as a birthday gift, here is a story that dives back into the KISSteriaverse! Fair warning, this is gonna get REALLY SAD, which is ironic considering it's Valentines Day lmao (totally didn't do that on purpose... except I did lol). I was inspired to write this after listening to the song "Strangers" by Taemin, which is actually where this story's title comes from, and which you can listen to HERE if you want before reading this story! It's a beauuuutiful song.
Enjoy! And happy birthday, Shandi!!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Nikki hasn't seen Starchild in years. He hasn't even been to KISSteria in years. But he wants to prove to himself that he's moved on from everything that happened, that he could see Starchild and not feel heartache. He could do this... right?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Nikki could do this.
It had been years since what happened. He hadn’t seen Starchild at all in those years. He steered clear of any diplomatic meetings with KISSteria (Vince would mercifully explain it away saying he was sick), he avoided any news about KISS on Earth, hell, he even avoided the “K” section in record stores. He hadn't looked at his hand in months, at the finger where a glowing purple string would have been tied… if it hadn’t been broken. He hadn’t even thought about Starchild in over five years. Their breakup and the whole mess around it involving demons and his possession was firmly in the past.
So when Vince got an invitation to come to KISSteria to renew Anarkia’s alliance with the KISSterians, Nikki felt like he could finally come along.
“You sure you’re good to come, dude?” Tommy asked as they got ready to leave.
“What are you talking about, Tom?” Nikki asked as he threw some clothes into a go bag. “Of course I’m good to come. You can introduce me to that royal court chick you keep seeing every time you go.”
Tommy laughed at that. “Yeah, sure. But listen… I know all… all that shit really messed you up. And I heard… um… he’s gonna be there. If you don’t wanna go…”
“I wanna go, Tom,” Nikki insisted. “I’ll be fine. Besides, we won’t be the only ones there. Aren’t the royals from Jendell gonna be there too?”
Tommy shrugged. “I dunno. Ask Vince.”
“Pretty sure he said they’d be there.”
“Alright, fine.” He punched Nikki’s shoulder with a grin. “Look at you, paying attention for once like a responsible person.”
“Fuck off,” Nikki laughed, whipping a shirt at him.
He could do this. He wouldn’t be alone there. It wouldn’t be awkward. Everything was in the past now. He could face the past. He could face what he’d done. He could face Starchild. He could do this.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
To Nikki’s delight, not only was the royal family of Jendell there, along with their aide, but so was Prince Michael and Nicholas from Hanoi. The two were accompanied by three young elves, who were practically climbing over each other as they gazed awestruck around the palace.
“Mikey!” Vince said gleefully, clapping the fairy on the shoulder. “Since when did you become a family man?”
The affectionate smile on Michael’s face seemed permanently fixed there as he watched Nicholas try to wrangle the three excited elves. “About a year ago. We found them outside the palace and decided to take them in.” He laughed as Nicholas had to run and prevent one of them from knocking over a decorative vase on a pedestal. “They’re a little excited to be leaving Hanoi for the first time.”
“Dude, we should show them the burn mark you made in the wall the first time we were here,” Nikki said to Tommy.
“Not sure why you’d wanna show that off,” Mick grumbled. “Didn’t they have to cover it with a tapestry cuz of your dicking around?”
“Sure did,” Tommy grinned proudly. “It’s been like, forever, and they still can’t get it out! I check every time we’re here!”
“I’ll bet you ten shots they finally got it out,” Nikki dared.
“Oh, you’re fucking on! I’m gonna go check right now!”
Mick sighed as Tommy dashed off. “I’ll go make sure he doesn’t wreck anything before the welcome ceremony,” he said resignedly, as though he was assigned this task every time they came to KISSteria (he was). He shoved his hands in his jacket pockets and trudged off in Tommy’s direction.
Michael just laughed as Vince went off to say hello to Nicholas. “You all certainly haven’t changed,”
Nikki just laughed, not really wanting to get into the complexities of that. I definitely have… “Yeah…”
He couldn’t help trailing off as he scanned the hall. There was Nicholas, laughing with Vince; there were the three young elves, chattering excitedly as they looked up at a tapestry; there was Ace—he supposed he should call him King Ace now—and his aide in conversation… where was everyone else?
“Looking for someone?”
Nikki turned to find Michael giving him a politely inquiring look. “Uh, y-yeah—well, no, I just—maybe…” he finished lamely.
He really didn’t like the knowing look on Michael’s face. “I am sure the Prince will be here shortly to welcome us.”
“Oh, good… A-And the Elder, too! She’ll be here too.” Nikki hated how awkward he sounded when he laughed. Fuck, what was wrong with him? “She’s the queen, so… yeah. She’s gotta be here too.”
“Nikki… I confess I was a little surprised to see you here. The last time we all gathered in KISSteria, Vince told us you were sick.” Nikki felt like the knowing look was cutting into him. “Are you all right being here now?”
Nikki’s stomach dropped. He knows. “I… Yeah. Yeah, I’m all right.”
Michael just slowly nodded, making Nikki feel far too exposed for his comfort. “I’m serious!” he insisted. “I’m fine! It’s just gonna be a few days. Seriously, Mikey, I’m fine.”
Thankfully, Michael just nodded. “All right. I am glad you’re feeling well enough to come this time.”
“Y-Yeah… me too.”
He could do this. When Starchild came through the doors to welcome them all, he wouldn’t shy away. He wouldn’t run away from him like a vampire running away from sun. He could do this.
As soon as he thought that, the doors opened, and the Elder swept into the hall, looking as intimidating and regal as ever. And walking just behind her…
Nikki’s heart skipped a beat. There he was. There was Starchild.
He looked better, Nikki thought immediately. He couldn’t help remembering how Starchild looked the last time he saw him; stressed, drained, upset…
Heartbroken, his mind whispered.
But he didn’t look heartbroken anymore. He looked better. His livelihood was back. The glimmer of life was back in his eyes, though it seemed a little softer now and less excited. And Nikki was suddenly overwhelmed by the urge to close the distance between them and…
But he stopped himself. He couldn’t. Starchild wouldn’t want that. He probably still didn’t want to even look at him, even though he probably knew Nikki would be here. Had he ever wondered how Starchild felt about things like that? About being forced to be in the same room as someone you loved or despised and not be able to express that? It was torture, having to stand there and pretend he didn’t have such a complicated history with Starchild.
And then suddenly the Elder and Starchild were right there, welcoming Vince to KISSteria. Nikki tried to focus on the Elder, instead of the man that stood behind her. He was just a few steps away. Nikki wished he was a mile away.
“And greetings to you, Nikki Terror,” the Elder was suddenly saying. “I am pleased you feel well enough to join us this time.”
Nikki was suddenly seized by a paranoid fear—did she know? Did she know what happened? Did Starchild tell her? He couldn’t tell anything from the pleasant smile on the woman’s face.
Calm the fuck down, Terror. Maybe she’s just welcoming you and commenting on how you haven’t been here in a while.
Nikki forced himself to calm down, giving her his signature smirk and an overdramatic bow. “Yep, I’m feeling great. And by the time I leave, you’ll probably be hoping I’m sick again next time.”
The Elder chuckled. “I don’t doubt it,”
As Nikki raised his head, his eyes unconsciously turned to see Starchild’s reaction. His heart leapt when he saw the smile on the man’s face. He was smiling at something Nikki said. Did that mean anything?
Nikki longed to be able to ask him. He longed to be able to get a moment alone with Starchild and ask him if that smile meant he was forgiven, if it meant Starchild didn’t hate him anymore. But he couldn’t. If Nikki wanted to prove he could face Starchild, he couldn’t do anything.
And so he let Starchild and the Elder walk away from them to go greet Michael and Nicholas. He breathed a quiet sigh of relief. He made it. One interaction had gone successfully.
“Dude, you okay?”
Nikki jumped at the whisper and realized Tommy was suddenly beside him. “Don’t fuckin’ scare me like that!” he hissed.
Tommy snickered. “Sorry. But seriously, you okay?”
Nikki blew out a breath and nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
He could do this.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A couple days later, Nikki found himself stuck at an event of some kind; a little party for the visiting diplomats, according to Vince. And so far, like these things always were, it was fucking boring.
He found himself keeping Mick company, sitting to the side while Mick talked to King Ace’s aide, who had introduced himself as Tomaziel. Mick had let it slip that he was originally from the Celestial realm, sparking a conversation between the two.
Nikki was trying to follow their conversation when he suddenly caught sight of a necklace hanging from Tomaziel’s neck. The pendant was oval, and covered with a turquoise finish, but Nikki could still see an eye through the turquoise. He couldn’t help looking a little closer at the eye, making out its brown color. That eye looked so familiar…
“Nikki, was it?”
Mick’s elbow suddenly nudged his side, and Nikki looked up to find Tomaziel looking his way. “Uh, sorry,” he said quickly. “I just… I saw your necklace.”
“Oh.” Tomaziel looked down at it with a smile. “I see. It’s lovely, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, it’s nice.” Why did that eye look so familiar? “So, what’s with the eye?”
“Oh, well…” Tomaziel’s face suddenly turned a very light blue. “The one who gave it to me… it’s his eye.”
“You lucky bastard,” Nikki laughed before he could stop himself. “Your boyfriend gave you that?”
“That’s fucking weird,” Mick muttered as he took a swig of alcohol.
“Don’t mind him,” Nikki said gaily as he patted Mick’s shoulder. “He’s just jealous ‘cause he’s lonely.”
“Fuck you, Terror. I am not.”
Nikki ignored him, instead grinning at Tomaziel. “So, who’s the guy?”
Tomaziel laughed a little awkwardly. “Um… well…”
“Excuse me,”
Nikki looked up, even though he didn’t have to, already knowing who it was. Sure enough, Starchild stood behind Tomaziel’s chair with a polite smile. Nikki couldn’t help thinking to himself how handsome he looked in his formal purple robes. “Mind if I steal Tomaziel for a minute? I think Ace wanted to speak to him about something.”
Nikki didn’t say anything, just looked down at his drink. Mick waved a hand. “Sure, no problem.”
If Nikki had looked up, he would have seen Starchild’s smile widen ever so slightly. “Wonderful. Tomaziel?”
Tomaziel, who had been looking up at Starchild the whole time, set down his drink and stood. “I’m right behind you.”
Nikki couldn’t help watching the two as they walked away. Why wasn’t Tomaziel walking closer to Starchild? Why was he a few paces behind?
“Hey, dude!” Tommy suddenly plopped into the chair next to him. “That court chick is here if you wanna meet her!”
“Later, Tom,” Nikki heard himself say. He was too busy watching the two. Starchild had left the ballroom, through a door off to the side. Tomaziel was a few feet to the side, speaking to Ace. Then as Nikki watched, Tomaziel bowed his head, excusing himself, then turned and walked out the side door.
Something started to knot and twist in Nikki’s stomach. He knew that maneuver. He’d done it so many times before with Starchild. Did that mean… but they couldn’t…
Nikki suddenly shot to his feet. “I’ll be right back,” he said to no one. Then he made a beeline for the door.
The hallway beyond the door was dark as Nikki left the ballroom. The only light came from torches along the walls, casting the hallway in a dim glow. Nikki swiveled his head around, trying to figure out which direction he needed to go. They couldn’t be far.
And then Nikki heard it—muffled voices. He began walking in the direction he heard them, making sure to be quiet. He was about to turn a corner when suddenly—
“—want to steal you away and keep you in my bedroom.”
Nikki dove back behind the corner at Starchild’s voice. He heard a second voice stammer, sounding embarrassed. “I—Starchild!”
Nikki’s heart plummeted as Starchild laughed. That was Tomaziel.
“It’s true!” Starchild giggled.
A laugh from Tomaziel. “I would willingly go with you. It’s hard not being able to see you. Having this necklace, though… it does feel like I have a part of you with me.”
“Good,” Starchild sounded happy. “That’s the point.”
Something seized Nikki’s heart and began to strangle it as he heard Tomaziel sigh. Now he knew why that eye looked so familiar. He’d looked into that eye and its other thousands of times before.
“I missed you,” he heard Tomaziel say.
“I missed you, too. I’m so happy you could be here.”
“So am I. I couldn’t miss the chance to see you.”
“You came all this way just to see boring old me?”
“You…” whatever Tomaziel did in the pause made Starchild giggle, “could never be boring. And yes, I did. And I’d do it again, many times.”
Starchild laughed, and the sound made it feel like a knife was going through Nikki’s heart. He finally mustered up the courage to lean forward and peer around the corner.
There in the hallway were two figures. A torch flickered, and the flare of light made the stars on Starchild’s outfit and the silver detail on Tomaziel’s gleam for a moment. And as Nikki watched, the two of them hugged. And it was like they became one single being, the way they seemed to melt into each other’s embrace. The figure Nikki knew was Starchild rested his head on Tomaziel’s shoulder with a sigh.
“I’m so happy when I’m with you,” he said aloud.
A lump formed in Nikki’s throat. He couldn’t stay here. He had to get away.
So he sprang away from the wall and took off back toward the ballroom, not caring if Starchild and Tomaziel heard. He couldn’t focus on anything except the feeling of his heart breaking in his chest.
Starchild had moved on. He had moved on completely. It wasn’t just what happened between them that was in the past—Nikki was now in the past as well.
“Nikki?”
Nikki skidded to a stop right before he crashed right into Michael. It appeared he’d re-entered the ballroom, and thankfully no one was looking his way. Except Michael, who gave him a look of concern. “Is everything all right?”
“I…” Nikki’s throat closed up. He felt like crying. But he willed himself not to cry. He was not going to fucking cry. “I’m… I’m not… feeling good…”
Michael nodded. “I see,”
“W-Will you… tell Vince I’m gonna g-go to bed?”
“I will. Get some sleep. I’m sure you’ll feel better in the morning.”
No, he wouldn’t. It was a nice sentiment, but Nikki knew he wouldn’t feel better in the morning. “O-Okay. Thanks, Michael…”
And just when Nikki thought it couldn’t be worse, that was when he saw Starchild re-enter the ballroom and go over to the Elder. Nikki’s heart shattered all over again at the smile on Starchild’s face. He looked happy, far too happy. Nikki wanted to scream at him to stop looking so happy, that he knew where he’d been, and who he’d been with to make him smile like that.
“Nikki,”
Almost gratefully, Nikki turned back to Michael. The fairy’s face looked sympathetic. Stop fucking looking at me like that! “I want you to know, you can come to me for help if you ever need it. I know you prefer to do things on your own, but if you ever feel the need for help, you can always ask for it.”
Nikki almost didn’t want to say anything, because he was afraid he’d either start raging or crying… or even do both. He managed a nod, then willed his voice not to shake. “Okay,”
Michael reached out to pat his shoulder. “I will go tell Vince you left,”
“Thanks…”
But as Michael walked away, Nikki heard Starchild laugh, and his head turned before he could stop himself. Starchild was smiling and laughing as he talked to Ace. And there was Tomaziel, standing next to Ace and not talking, but his eyes fixed only on Starchild with a small grin of his own.
Nikki had never seen Starchild look so relaxed and happy. Not even when he was with you.
There was another stab of pain in his chest—his heart was shattering all over again. It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair that Starchild got to get back up and move on and even find someone else, while Nikki was alone and broken. It was like something inside Nikki was keeping him from moving forward. Why didn’t Starchild have something keeping him back? It wasn’t fucking fair.
He felt like hitting something, or crying. They were in the same room, full of people they had mutually known for years. They had known each other for years. And he really wasn’t that far away; he just had to walk a small distance and he would be right there, able to talk to him like they were old friends. But no, he couldn’t. Because they weren’t even friends anymore, were they? Starchild was miles and miles away, pretending Nikki was a complete stranger, and Nikki was alone.
Nikki dug his nails into his palms and finally turned away to leave the ballroom. He couldn’t do this.

Day 17: Hanging By A Threat
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Demon? Where is StarChild? We need him!!” Eryk was growing more frantic. “Is Tomaziel still..?”
Demon just grunted in reply. When he didn’t use words it was never good.
“H-how is..?”
“I don’t know. I can’t go in. He’s sealed off the door.”
Eryk frowned. “I understand that he’s upset but..this really isn’t the time for him to shut himself away like this. The enemy is gaining strength as we speak.”
“What have you learned?”
“I received word from my clan. It’s..a new sect of the Crimson Witch’s cult. They have a new leader. She’s calling herself the Ruby Enchantress.”
“Cute.”
“Since they can’t use your daughter anymore they’re determined to hit us where it hurts most.”
“By attempting to break our Circle.”
Eryk clenched his fists. “He won’t die. Tomaziel is strong, he won’t die!!”
“StarChild doesn’t seem to think so.”
“Then we gotta make him believe it!!”
“Easier said than done.”
The Medical Wing’s door suddenly burst open, startling them both. There stood StarChild, shining brighter than the sun. Streaks of lightning covered his body. His eyes glowed a bright blue instead of purple. He levitated off the ground and floated past them. “Come. We have work to do.”
“StarChild..” Eryk hesitated to follow. “..are you..okay..? Is he...?”
“My love granted me his power. I do not intend to waste his gift. He cannot be with us physically, but we will make them pay for what they have done.”
“Sounds good to me.” Demon said with a smirk. “Let’s kick their asses.”
Eryk nodded. “I agree! The Crimson Witch’s memory has cursed us enough!”
