so today Kirby Snead became the 1000th player to play for the Mariners
he came into the game to replace George Kirby, on the anniversary of George’s Mariners debut
today is ALSO the day Kirby Puckett debuted for the Twins (who the Mariners are playing today) back in 1984
as Sarah Langs would say, baseball is the best

June 1st we went to see the Mariners vs Angels at T-Mobile for their first pride themed game! Here I'm going to share a few insights and happiness as I usually do. All this I was lucky to share with my partner and wife, @warriorbeeofthesea
Before I get to that, I was very pleased to help raise the pride flag over city hall today! The city has declared that it's officially pride month aka they recognize and make it certain, as far as the city is concerned.
They invited people to come out and help observe and raise the flag, and boy howdy did we queers represent! Lots of cool folks, parents, children, all types attended and it was wonderful to see and be a part of. I only got a screenshot, but here ya go;
Back at the ballpark, the Mariners were giving away cute trucker hats and if you purchased the event tickets, pride jerseys! These aren't like the highest quality, but weirdly, compared to my Mariners City Connect, these have actual emblems sewn on (same with the Hello Kitty ones). In any case, the tickets weren't much more than any other regular seats.
The lines were long as shit, but with friends and certainty, I didn't mind. Being neurospicy means I have to plan for high energy interactions, and in my case specifically, for inefficiency.
It was a well attended game, and I felt really happy and safe to so many folks excited to be themselves! As usual, I dressed in my Pronouns jersey, but today I went with nice big jeans shorts and tights (vs my usual of a kilt or skirt).
We actually have three jerseys, the striped one you see below, the button up that has a primary of red, and the sunset sleeveless jersey, which incidentally looks like a bisexual theme.
Initially we sat in the pride section (the aforementioned tickets usually group affiliate groups in a section or three, they even had a banner!), but since my partners and friends are rather neurospicy, we wanted to sit together with some room to spare.
Starting at sections 317-319 or so, and then to 309;
I don't have as many pics as I usually might, but I may have found a margarita vendor somewhat early who ran out of mix, and filled my cup with what I believe was entirely tequila, putting me on the dehydrated track.
I was so full of cheer that I definitely just floated happily through the game with wonderful chats and seeing cool people.
I did indeed get a hat, however, I had a fun interaction in the line for beer somewhere in the 4th inning or so. A gay couple and I chatted (they found my jersey cute), and I had the idea to just give them my hat, as they hadn't made it in time to get theirs. I know my wife has theirs and we're going to another game that's giving these out later. The fellows were kind enough to put my brews on their rab, and one exclaimed their happiness at random acts of joy.
In the end, the Ms won 9-0. Here are a few highlights;
* Ryan Bliss with his first stolen base and his first MLB hit! A solid bloop to the center field gap for a single. The kid was called up recently and this was his 4th game. I love seeing people get called to the show, and in his case, he dreamed of playing for the Mariners. I love his energy and ability and look forward to seeing him play more!
* JP Crawford crushes a grand slam in the bottom of the 4th to get us up 5-0.
* Bryce Miller with 9 Ks!
* Luke "Nukem" Raley with a solo home run.
* Julio Rodriguez goes 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
* Kirby Snead induces a weak bouncing grounder to Ty France for an unassisted 3 for the final out, giving Miller and the Mariners the win!
What a wonderful day for ball.

Blue Jays-Twins Tie 5-5 In Fort Myers.
Blue Jays 5 Twins 5 Toronto (1-0-1) Minnesota (1-0-1)
The Toronto Blue Jays made their annual trip down to Fort Myers to play the Minnesota Twins. The Twins pitching staff dominated again today on a beautiful day from Hammond Stadium. Jose Berrios tossed two scoreless innings to start the day then the Twins offense got to work. Miguel Sano led-off the second with a single and Ehire Adrianza followed with a base hit to left field. LaMonte Wade hit a sac fly to move the runners up and Travis Blankenhorn hit a flyball to right. Miguel Sano tagged up and scored on the play to put the Twins on the board. The next batter, Jimmy Kerrigan hit a run-scoring single to right to give the Twins a 2-0 lead. The Twins offense got back to work in the fourth inning. Ehire Adrianza singled to left and LaMonte Wade reached on an infield single. Adrianza gained third base on a Joe Panik error. Travis Blankenhorn hit an RBI groundout to second to extend the Twins lead to three after four frames. The Twins continued to add on in the fifth inning. Mitch Garver reached on a one-out infield single. Later in the inning, Ehire Adrianza hit a high flyball to center field. Anthony Alford hot dogged the catch and dropped it. Pinch-runner Drew Maggi scored from first on the play and the Twins led 4-0. Jorge Alcala came on for the sixth and struggled a bit. Billy McKinney walked and Santiago Espinal doubled to left. Joe Panik hit a sac fly to center to put the Jays on the board. Andy Burns was hit by a pitch and Patrick Kivlehan walked. Rowdy Tellez plated a pair with a single to left and the Jays were within a run. The Jays bats stayed hot in the seventh inning. Alejandro Kirk walked, Josh Palacious singled to right, and Kevin Smith walked to load up the bases. Forest Wall hit a sacrifice fly to right to tie the game at four. Later in the inning, Andy Burns hit a run-scoring single to left to put Toronto up 5-4. The Twins would have one more rally left in them in the eighth inning. Zander Wiel smoked a Kirby Snead offering out to left for a solo home run. This tied the game at five after eight innings of play. Sam Clay tossed up a scoreless ninth and the Twins had a chance in the bottom of the inning. Tyler Webb doubled to left with one out, but Caleb Hamilton struck out swinging. Webb was thrown out at third base after the strikeout to end the game. The two teams decided that nine innings was enough and we tied this afternoon.
-Final Thoughts- Jose Berrios looked good through two scoreless innings, where he gave up a hit and struck out four. His fastball command and movement were very good. He threw a couple good change-ups, but his curveball was not there yet. Sergio Romo struck out two in a 1-2-3 third, Tyler Clippard had a perfect fourth, but Mitch Garver and him struggled to get on the same page, and Taylor Rogers fanned one in a clean fifth. Jorge Alcala gave up two runs in the sixth. Jake Reed gave up two runs in 2/3 of an inning and Mitch Horacek finished off the seventh. Griffin Jax had a perfect eighth and Sam Clay fanned one in the ninth. Ehire Adrianza and Jimmy Kerrigan led the team with two hits each. The Twins hit 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Tomorrow, Nathan Eovaldi will face Kenta Maeda on a Monday matinee as the Red Sox come across town.

Redskins Beat Seahawks – Against All Odds
Redskins fans, let’s take a deep breath and gather ourselves. Games that involved this type of finish usually ended up with the Redskins on the losing side of things. Josh Doctson’s bomb catch down to the 1-yard line was a pleasant surprise. The so-called “experts” had the Redskins losing to the Seahawks – especially in Seattle. I’m happy to report just how wrong they were about the Redskins and Seattle.
In the first half, the Redskins offense couldn’t do anything against the stout defensive play of the Seahawks. Head Coach Jay Gruden decided that he was going to stick to his game plan and that was to run the ball. Even with the offensive line lacking a number of its starters, run first was the game plan. Things became a little dicey and the Redskins had to adjust to the defensive game plan of Seattle. The offense found enough success to keep the Seahawks defense honest and respecting the run game. They worked to keep the pass rush off of Cousins, making the Seahawks play man-to-man on the Redskins WR’s who gained the advantage. Washington Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden made a promise back in the preseason that we would see a ‘ground and pound’ type of offense.
Redskins QB Kirk Cousins finished the game with 247 passing yards on 21 of 31 passing attempts. He involved all his receiving weapons and spread the ball around the field of play. Cousins is rewriting the Redskins history books with each performance. He’s joining the past greats such as Joe Theismann, Sonny Jurgensen and the late great Norm Snead, becoming the only Redskins starting QB to pass for over 2,000 yards with at least 3 seasons of work recorded. Some discuss the Cousins’ contract as if he doesn’t deserve a lot of money, but when you look at his numbers, there’s no question that the Redskins should try to keep him. Cousins has matured right before our eyes and plays to win in a convincing manner.
The Redskins running game didn’t have jump-out-at-you type numbers, but it was good enough to keep Seattle honest. The Redskins had 55 total yards of rushing. They basically did what was necessary to win, and I’m okay with that. Though the Redskins weren’t world beaters who filled up the stat sheets, a unit they did enough to beat the Seahawks. WR’s Brian Quick and Josh Doctson both made spectacular catches that were pivotal to this Redskins victory in Seattle.
In contrast to the offense, the Redskins defensive unit completely balled out! They caused all types of havoc throughout the whole field of play the entire game. The defense demonstrated that they spent countless hours studying film and preparing for this game. In the first 3 quarters, the Seahawks were unable to do anything. Running, passing, QB scrambles were all taken away at various points of the game by the Redskins defense. Redskins LB Zach Brown once again showed his value to this defensive unit, shadowing or being the QB spy on the ever so dangerous Russell Wilson. Brown showed off his sideline-to-sideline speed at every opportunity, taking away any chance for Wilson to hurt the Redskins.
The Redskins defense prevented the Seahawks from scoring touchdowns and forced them to kick field goals. Fortunately for the Redskins, Seahawks kicker Blair Walsh missed three field goal attempts. The Redskins defense dominated from start to finish in this matchup. This defensive unit performed as if they knew what play the Seahawks offense would call on almost every down. They played with grit and determination right down to the very last play with 4 seconds left on the clock. The wily veteran DeAngelo Hall, returning from injury, made what I think was the stop of the game, detaching Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham from the ball for an incomplete pass instead of a touchdown to win the game. Total defensive effort is what won this game for the Redskins. The Seahawks offense never got into any type of rhythm. The Redskins defense didn’t allow Seattle success on 3rd downs, caused turnovers and disrupted the timing between Wilson and his receiving corps.
Against all odds, this Redskins defensive unit went to Seattle and convincingly took what they wanted – a win against the Seahawks. During the 4th quarter, the announcers made sure to speak of QB Russell Wilson’s 4th quarter heroics. The Redskins defense must not have gotten that memo. When it all came down to one play for the win, this Redskins defense stepped up and made it happen against the odds. Nothing satisfies me more as a Redskins fan than to see the faces of everyone who chose the Seahawks over the Redskins. I hope the Redskins keep surprising the critics and make believers out of the non-believers. It was a great game all around.

Talks among Los Angeles Rams, Trumaine Johnson went nowhere - Los Angeles Rams Blog site
LOS ANGELES — The deadline arrived and went on Monday without a long-term extension among the Los Angeles Rams and major cornerback Trumaine Johnson, a growth that had been anticipated for very some time.
In the stop, there almost certainly wasn’t adequate incentive on either aspect.
Johnson, the to start with cornerback to be tagged a next straight yr considering the fact that Charles Woodson in 2005, is sitting quite, set to make $sixteen.seventy four million in 2017 — far more than any other cornerback in the NFL. With that currently being the scenario, it would’ve been tricky for Johnson to settle for a long-term offer that wasn’t on par with some of the greatest-compensated players at his situation. So locking him up may have essential giving Johnson a 5-yr agreement identical to that of Desmond Trufant ($68.seventy five million with virtually $42 million assured), A.J. Bouye ($sixty seven.5 million with $26 million assured) or Stephon Gilmore ($65 million with $40 million assured). Or, at the very least, a little something in that community.
Although Trumaine Johnson will be the greatest-compensated cornerback in the league this year, he actually has not tested himself as an elite performer at the situation. Kirby Lee/Usa Nowadays Sports activities
That was almost certainly way too steep for the Rams, for three critical reasons:
1. Johnson has not tested to be an elite corner just still. He racked up 13 interceptions from 2013 to ’15, tied for fourth-most in the NFL during that time. But that was largely as the No. two male to Janoris Jenkins. Johnson’s interceptions dropped to just one last yr, his to start with year as the major corner, and Pro Soccer Emphasis graded him twenty fifth amongst the 109 at his situation.
two. The change to new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who involves a whole lot of male coverage from his corners, created uncertainty about Johnson’s long-term contributions. Maybe it wasn’t as large a variable as it was sold in the course of the offseason, but it created adequate doubt for an extension that almost certainly did not have significantly opportunity of obtaining accomplished in the to start with area.
3. The Rams are targeted on other contracts. They want to get a little something accomplished with Aaron Donald, who is two years away from totally free company but skipped structured workforce activities for the reason that he wants a new offer. They also are zeroing in on two other upcoming totally free agents: inside linebacker Alec Ogletree and defensive back again Lamarcus Joyner. The Rams are set up to have about $39 million in salary-cap area for 2018, which ranks eighth in the NFL. But they have a whole lot of lingering totally free agents, primarily on protection.
The fault, actually, lies in allowing it get to this place.
It goes back again to last offseason, when the Rams chose to give Johnson the franchise tag, then watched Jenkins and totally free security Rodney McLeod depart through totally free company. That was a significant blow to the depth in the Rams’ secondary, and it created a scenario in which the Rams had no preference but to slap Johnson with the franchise tag all more than once more. All through the offseason, from the scouting blend to the ultimate times of the offseason method, standard manager Les Snead pointed to the midsummer deadline to negotiate with franchise players and stated that the organization would to start with like to see if Johnson is a fit for Phillips’ program.
Johnson expressed zero uncertainties.
“I am a large corner,” he explained. “I can play male, I can play off, I can play zone, I can play water boy. I can play just about anything y’all want to play, male.”
Phillips was questioned a short while ago if he felt Johnson fit into his program. Aware of the sensitivity with the subject, he spoke all over it, saying, “Trumaine has accomplished every little thing we’ve questioned him to do so significantly, so I really don’t have any challenge with what he’s accomplished.”
Rookie head mentor Sean McVay was questioned the very same thing and responded with: “I believe he suits in any program. You are speaking about a large corner who can operate, he’s actual physical, he can deal with and he has good ball abilities.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter introduced up an appealing place while on NFL Live on Monday: Based mostly on Schefter’s report before this offseason, Johnson could have signed a long-term offer with the New Orleans Saints, but chose to remain in L.A. The Saints were being set to send the Rams a 2017 draft decide that was believed to be in the next round, but Johnson was unwilling to sign a long-term offer, which may have blown up the entire thing.
The Rams have considering the fact that signed Kayvon Webster, who looks like the favorite to be the No. two corner, and Nickell Robey-Coleman, a standout slot corner. They also utilized a 3rd-round decide on Boston College security John Johnson, injecting them selves with some significantly-wanted depth in their secondary.
Trumaine Johnson nevertheless states he wants to remain for as long as the Rams will have him.
“I like it listed here I like the protection,” Johnson explained in late May possibly. “I am trying to decide Wade Phillips’ brain every day. He’s gained a Super Bowl, he is been to the playoffs. You are speaking about a Hall of Fame mentor.”

From D.C. To L.A. Thoughts On New Rams HC Sean McVay
Washington Redskins writer for Cover32, Leonard Kirby weighs in on new Rams head coach Sean McVay. He also solicited the thoughts of those “in the know in Washington” on their former OC.
So, as the Washington Redskins bid farewell to Offensive Coordinator Sean McVay and are happy for him being chosen as the new head coach for the Los Angeles Rams, here are some opinions from three Washington Redskins fans who are true, loyal, and informed. Denise, aka @MrsCKirk12, sports radio personality in Washington D.C. said this about McVay:
“The Rams are looking to go in a new direction by hiring the youngest Head Coach in NFL history (30 years young). McVay brings a fresh perspective and is a player’s coach. He’s smart enough to realize he needs experience around him, which is why he’s made it known that he wants Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips. While McVay’s play calling is still a bit suspect, he will make adjustments during this on-the-job-training experience with the Rams.” Tee Brooks, aka @teebrooks75, famous sports radio personality as well as former co-host of The Sports Hawks offered this:
“I think Sean McVay can be successful if he is given time, Los Angeles has to be patient with him and give him plenty of resources to work with. His offense can ground and pound with Todd Gurley, must stick with the run (McVay had a habit of getting away from the run. The Rams have Wade Phillips, a big help on defense and experience. So Sean McVay a good choice as long as they practice patience.”

Finally, A Smart Move: Did the Rams finally get it right with their new head coach?
Toxic In L.A.: An opportunity to end what was a toxic mix in Los Angeles
Cover32’s own @leonardkirby wrote this:
My opinion is Sean McVay is highly intelligent and creative. He helped make our Washington Redskins a potentially explosive offensive.
My knock on him would be that between the 30’s, his play-calling was great. We usually moved the ball down the field to or close to the Red-Zone, but then our offense would misfire, get motion penalties, throw when we should have run the ball and became predictable. We’d come away with field-goals instead of touchdowns, which cost us several games in 2015 and 2016.
Sean McVay is given alot of credit for the development of quarterback Kirk Cousins who has become a Top 8 quarterback in my book. However Matt Cavanaugh, quarterbacks coach, deserves more credit along with Kirk himself for his hard work, and practice, film study of defenses, learning from the best quarterbacks and going to QB camps in the off-season. Cousins is of high moral character, humble, hard worker, focused, and competitive. He’s a quick study and coachable. Sean is also blessed to have Wade Phillips as his defensive coordinator who has experience as a head coach and can mentor McVay.
IF Rams General Manager Les Snead and COO Kevin Demoff have the salary cap and expertise in a limited 2017 NFL Draft, get some good free agents like DeSean Jackson who all defenses have to game plan against because of his deep threat presence on the field, 2017 can have a radically different look to 2016.
Also, if Sean McVay is able to get the players to learn his system and language and IF the players work hard to learn the playbook and IF McVay can “coach up” quarterback Jared Goff, the Rams may have winning seasons under Sean McVay. If I had been the Rams organization, I would have gone after more experience like Bill Callahan, who lead the Raiders to the Super Bowl and has experience building great offensive line’s.
But, Sean may prove me wrong and be great. Time will tell, but in the meantime, the best thing the L.A. Rams fans can do is support their team and be patient, Rome was not built in a day.
