*scratches at your writing itch more* c’mon give us more about your writing give us that good ol’ fashioned yapping
LETS FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Ahem.
So if you are a tag reader and have existed on my blog for an extended period of time, then you may recall me mentioning that I really should go on a rant about Loki. Multiple times even. And there is a good reason for that— she is one of the most interesting characters to analyze and write for in feh.
That might seem like an odd claim, but you must remember that your reliable narrator finds immense joy in writing for Kiran fire emblem. Kiran is fun for a few reasons, but the work loop is what really sells it. There is a character beyond the self insert, but it must be found and then extrapolated back. Detective work goes into their analysis and then more free form creativity is employed to inflict that personality back onto the narrative. Loki provides a similar experience. She’s an almost equally blank slate. Harsh comparison considering Kiran is a non entity of a self insert, but true nonetheless. Currently, as of the very start of book 9, Loki is not much of a character. I hope to be proven wrong in the near future, but right now that is the case.
The issue can most easily be broken down into one core question: what does Loki want? No, seriously, what does she want? She’s the only reoccurring character in which we have no idea about anything that drives her. You might argue that this is supposed to be part of her mystique, but then I’d argue that you don’t understand what builds mystique. You know who also had mystique? Líf and Thrasir, Læraðor and the Healing Hands, Gullvieg, and about every other antagonistic force whose full motives were not initially clear. Just because we did not know the full extent of what drove them, did not mean that we didn’t get a sense of something they wanted. The most common thing these antagonists want is to kill our heroes, which is why conflict arises in the first place.
What does Loki want in comparison? To cause Chaos™️? That is a cop-out in the same way writing Harley Quinn as just a crazy random lady is. It is an excuse to not write a consistent character and just hoping that surface level aesthetics will carry everything on its emancipated shoulders. To what end does Loki want to cause chaos? For what reasons? What could possibly stand in her way? What conflict could arise from that? Every other character has straight forward answers to these basic questions, but even after 8 seasons of this narrative, we still don’t have anything for this lady. And that’s a blatant flaw of FEH. Which is a shame, because as I was digging to find ways to fill the gaps, some genuinely interesting ideas came up.
This starts with the FEH’s pantheon. It is a vital part of the narrative’s themes of loneliness, isolation, and connection. Being the villains 80% of the time, they are often a pure distillation of the long term effects of isolation. Hel is a fascinating introduction to this idea that gains more intrigue in retrospect. Unlike every divine encounter after her, she is the sole god we meet in book 3. It’s an unspoken rule, but they typically arise in contrasting pairs. Askr and Embla, Nifl and Múspell, Freyr and Freya, etc. It is revealed that Hel was not an exception to this rule, but had successfully killed her equal and opposite of Ymir long before she ever set foot in Askr. With no one left to naturally counter her, she’s been fueling her endless need for more power free of natural consequence. Without life, death has gone utterly power mad. Upon her throne of corpses, she is entirely isolated and free to view every breathing being as lesser. To really drive this home, they reveal that her only connection to a living thing, Eir, to be a lie. She is a need for power, left by itself to rot.
Then we have the siblings Freyr and Freya, who were implied to be the weird black sheep of the pantheon and thus only had each other. Freyr is notedly one of the few non antagonistic gods and this correlates with his apparent social life. He talks to people! Regularly! According to Peony, anytime anyone has any issue in the realm of dreams, they go to him. He has taken the time to build a community and make himself the beating heart of it. He’s getting some god damn therapy. Good for him! Freya has unfortunately done no such thing and hasn’t moved on from the harm inflicted upon them in the past. She has power, beauty, and fame, but Freyr is still the only person she has. But now, the reverse is no longer true and he’s pulling further away. This nags at the long standing wound of never being accepted and Freya sees this as rejection from the one person in this horrible cruel world who wasn’t supposed to do that to her. Everything goes to hell from there. This need for acceptance is left by itself to rot.
Now, this was supposed to be a discussion of Loki, no? Why bring this up? Well, it’s because she’s an oddity. Hel, Freya, and Freyr generally define the types of gods we see from this point onwards. We either got isolated and rocking it (Hel, Múspell), isolated and crying in the club (Freya, Gullveig, Nifl), or finally getting some god damn therapy for the isolation but ultimately not being able to fully escape it in time (Freyr, Askr). Loki is not quite any of these things. And as I was trying to rationalize why there was an exception to this theme I found, it dawned on me— it’s not that she isn’t any of these things, it’s that she’s on the verge of becoming one of them. What makes Loki unique among the pantheon is that she’s the only god we see meeting and connecting with people throughout the narrative. That’s the point. Nothing has begun to rot yet. Her powers are shapeshifting and pretending to be a person, because she’s actually on the verge of potentially becoming one.
Let’s use her dynamic with Veronica as an example. Loki genuinely likes Veronica. She finds the girl silly and cute. However, she had alterer motives from the moment they met, as she was still working for Surtr at the time and befriended the young princess so that she could be ultimately sacrificed to the rite of flames. And even outside of that, she needed her help to begin the Tempest. It was a lie from the start, and yet, Loki gives our protagonists an opening to save her. That’s fascinating. She does not value Veronica’s life or wellbeing above her schemes, but she likes her enough to actively go out of her way to give her a chance. If I didn’t know any better, that’s a fascinating set up for a long term character conflict. Loki, the chaotic trickster god plotting to bring change and ruin, vs Loki, a quirky shapeshifter lady teaching Princess Veronica funny little tricks like how to heal paper cuts and not lose her breakfast when quickly dimension hoping to the realm of the dead.
That’s so god damn fun and is a version of the character that would bring so much life to the narrative. But it’s not really what we got and might not be what we ultimately get either. And that’s okay, I’m pretty down for whatever they choose to do. But until then, Your Honor, hit that trickster god with an identity crisis. Hit her with the silly beam. Let the two tacticians hang out and be kinda toxic besties. What could go wrong? Oh, there’s a character named Baldur? Surely this won’t result in a chain of events that culminates in the end of the world.
#It’s finally here!!! The Loki Ted Talk!!!#been sitting on this one for a while#Thought about not releasing it until we got further into book 9 but then decided nah. Public Demo Update 9/29/2024
The public demo has been updated. Play the updated demo here!
Content Warning: The added branch of the demo includes violence, mild descriptions of corpses, and panic associated with claustrophobia (if chosen).
Keep reading for a brief list of changes, which can also be found here.
The entirety of the Team B branch has been added, concluding the different branches that can be chosen when dealing with Janus Terminal. All branches are now playable until the "aftermath" section, at which point the demo ends.
Join Kiran in the Team B branch and witness their very hands-on ways of dealing with obstacles. Share a conversation or two. Chill out and have just a little moral quandary, as a treat. Nothing crazy happens in this route. It's a lazy river adventure.
None of the previously existing variables were altered, so old saves might still work. If you experience any errors when using an old save, please attempt to replicate the error on a brand new save before reporting. Thank you!
Other changes include:
General grammar and spelling fixes
Minor plot revisions to aid with continuity
~Small references to objects in certain scenes. Honestly, this change might not even be noticed. 😂
When talking with Zero in Chapter 2, conversation with her should now correctly reference the route you chose in Chapter 1
~The variable in this scene incorrectly referenced a ch2-specific variable instead of a ch1-specific variable, causing the scene to default into thinking the reader had taken the "talk" route no matter what. Now it will recognize which chapter 1 route you picked.
Fixed a broken link (AGAIN) in the Team A/Team B routes, resulting from a misspelled variable.
~You should now be able to attempt to intimidate the raider in the escape pod bay.
~This error was reported multiple times over multiple updates both public and early access, and every time I found something else wrong with the clause in question. It should be working correctly now. If it isn't, I'm going to run into the woods never to be seen again. Or perhaps shoot myself into the sun, whichever feels more appropriate when it happens.
#btw bullet point indents don't format properly once posts are published for some reason#hence adding in the tildes#at any rate#valiant demo update#public demo update#demo update

There was no hope of me documenting their infancy very well, but the quads age up (chaotically, without birthday cakes), so it's finally time for a proper introduction!
From left to right, top to bottom:
Kiran Clemens
Traits: Light Sleeper, Unstable
Personality: 2/8/9/3/6
Tarik Clemens
Traits: Absent-Minded, Excitable
Personality: 10/8/2/10/5
Farah Clemens
Traits: Absent-Minded, Loves the Heat
Personality: 2/5/6/9/7
Anil Clemens
Traits: Absent-Minded, Loves the Heat
Personality: 2/8/4/6/10
They're such a good mix of their parents! I couldn't have hoped for better with quads. It's hard to tell, but Tarik actually has Sydney's hazel eyes. Otherwise, they all have black hair and brown eyes.

He's beauty, he's grace...
He's kind of... odder-looking in the face. Huh.
Following an impulse poll you were all kind enough to play around with me on, the winner of the poll for a new minecraft skin is Sommie! (Now extra long and cursed-proportioned.) As also featured in Sharena Week, not only am I making Sommie's skin available, but previous skins, Kiran and Sharena too!
For instructions on how to install skins, view the read more below!
For Sommie's skin, download the following image:
For Kiran / The Summoner's skin, download the following image:
For Sharena's skin, download the following image:
But wait, there's more!
You may be wondering: Wait, Sharena looks a little different from last time. And the structures look weirdly familiar. And what's that on Sharena's head and arm?!
That's because the world currently featured is the Hermitcraft world (Season 9, this being specifically the Bedrock version), and as an apology for stealing borrowing the world as a quick backdrop, here's some other goodies to mess with for those of you who have your own skins and want to either become summoners of your own, or walk away with some Jellie-themed Scarland goodies.
With your preferred skin, save the following images to overlay it for summoner clothes or Jellie accessories:
And that's all for now! Continuing on with the polls and doing it in order of votes (yes I've watched), next up will be Lif, followed by Robin and Alfonse.
To install all the skins, you must have Minecraft, and you must do the following (Note that all skins shown here assume it's proportioned to the Steve/wide style skin and has not been tested on Alex/slim style skins.):
Save all skin files you want as a png and make sure to name them and save them where you can easily find them.
Log into your minecraft account in the hub
For Java players, go to the Skins tab, and click on New Skin. Browse and upload the skin file, name it however you like, and make sure to set it to Wide. Save or Save & Use the skin.
For Bedrock players, go into your Bedrock game and go into Dressing Room. Choose any skin slot that you don't mind using for your new skin (note that you can only save one custom skin and multiple skin slots featuring a custom skin will default to whichever current custom skin you were currently using last). Click on Change Classic Skin (if this is not visible, click on Edit Character then click on the coat-hanger icon on your left). Click on the grey, blank model under "Owned Skins", then click Choose New Skin. After uploading the skin you want, click on the right model and exit out of the menu to save this current skin.
Note for Bedrock players: Custom skins cannot be used in console, and custom skins will NOT work in official minecraft event servers such as the (currently ongoing) MCC bedrock world. This is not the same as a marketplace skin (which is selectable outright in its own group) and custom skins will default to one of the OG Minecraft skins in event servers.

wait that's so embarrassing omg because i got 9/31 mexican states but im neither mexican in nationality nor heritage .. theyre also not blasted everywhere on global media either. how do you live in the USA and only know 5-6 states 😭 kiran how are people like this
what really gets me is that it's not just a lack of curiosity but a petulant, hostile rejection of any information about other people as though being asked to know or care about anyone other than themselves and their immediate surroundings is so annoying they can't help but lash out. like they react to being asked to care as though the idea is a harassment. it's genuinely unfathomable to me like it makes me feel nuts 😭 if someone can't be fucked to learn the most basic info about people who live 200km from them they are definitely not putting that effort in for people who live 5000km away. it's just baffling

My Control 2 Wishlist
I've had this on my mind the last few weeks after seeing Alan Wake 2 and what Remedy's really capable of when they push the limits of genre and storytelling. No one asked for this list, but I thought it would be fun to divulge some of my thoughts on the matter.
More Music
This list would be remiss if I didn't say I wanted a real musical number for Control. I want singing. I want choreography. Drama. Poets of the Fall jamming out even more. Maybe more of Ahti's dulcet singing voice. Maybe even Darling's too? A duet?
I want even more variety with the genres, too. Give us a love ballad. Give us more storytelling through music.
2. A Mixture of Enemies
I want Jesse to fight more monsters than just the Hiss. I want her to fight paracriminals, especially.
3. More Altered Items and OOPs
Mostly the latter. I would love to hear more about the OOPs Northmoor bound and used.
4. More Inter-Departmental Drama
I want to hear what people think about Jesse as Director following the Hiss invasion. Do people still feel as inspired by her?
5. A LITTLE More Tie-Ins with Alan Wake
I don't want this to swing too hard in the Alan Wake pendulum, but I think there's so many questions regarding the world at large through Alan Wake's story, I want to see some plot threads get tied up through Control.
I still want the story to focus on the Bureau and its agents, but I think it's fine to bring in characters from AW2, namely Anderson and Casey. I also want to know how the Oceanview ties into everything.
6. More Kiran Estevez, and an Update on the Bureau at Large
What it says on the tin. Agent Estevez was a badass. Give us more. Also tell us about her ex-wife and about her rebound relationship she definitely had (or have her get back with her wife).
What happened to the Bureau over the last few years? What's going on? We need an update.
7. More Darling, More Trench
This wouldn't be a wishlist without including them. I'm biased. I love them so much your honor and I want Trench to come back, either as a mentor or in the flesh because why not? Give us a chance to even play as either of these characters for a spell.
8. More Uh, Horniness?
Look, I'm not talking about outright explicit sexual content. But let's be honest. Alan Wake 2 was a bit more horny than it had any right to be. Explain yourself, Sam Lake. Explain yourself, Remedy. Keep bringing hot people doing hot things, especially with the use of FMV. Your fans will love it.
8. The Actual Number 8: More Slice of Life
What I'm genuinely alluding to, all joking aside, is more slice of life interjected into the Bureau's dynamics. More everyday banter. Maybe I just want to see people flirt with Jesse a little. Maybe some gentle nudging from Polaris for Jesse to let down her hair a little.
9. A Follow-Up With Dylan
I think for Jesse's character development, it will be important to address Dylan and what's his status. By extension, I would love to hear more about his potential connection to Mr. Door.
10. More FMV
Goes without saying, but this should become Remedy's signature cherry on top with their games. They have perfected the style and I hope to see more of it.

Introduction to my parts
1. Chris | 2. Kiran | 3. Tato
4. Adrian | 5. Young N. | 6. Freya
7. BR | 9. Amely
Chris
Chris is a part who escapes real life by writing or playing video games. He comes out when I am stressed and flees from the world. He carries some heavy depression and feelings of alienation. The whole world is "too much" for him and he just wants to be left alone.
Kiran
I have no idea who this guy is. The only reason I know of his existence is that he has a profile in our SimplyPlural app and has written a message before.
Tato
Tato is a part who holds the positive memories of living with our family and caring for the horses. She misses our old life and has trouble with us being trans - she is the only part who still views us as a whole as a woman.
Adrian
Adrian is the part who holds our addictions. He is very depressed, suicidal and impulsive. He feels hopeless and stuck, as if every try to get better is in vain.
Young N.
Young N. is between 15 and 17 years old. He remembers some of our trauma and is angry about it - he is especially angry at the older parts who are in denial. He likes listening to Linkin Park and Rap and generally fits the role of an angry, angsty teenager.
Freya
Freya is a gatekeeper who can open "portals" in our inner world and move parts from one place to another. She is grumpy and shows she cares via tough love. She comes out in high stress situations and goes through the motions like a robot (aka without any feelings that make her "weak").
BR (aka "Business Rose")
BR is the responsible adult in our system. She handles appointments and deals with angry men, or people who make us uncomfortable in general. She is a huge fawner.
Amely
Amely is about 15 years old and a part who is loyal to our family. She is really homesick, although she remembers the trauma we went through in our childhood home. She carries a lot of guilt about being "a bad daughter" and cries easily.
Other parts:
N.
N. is a gatekeeper and our Big Boss who doesn't like being talked about so I leave it at that.
Darius
Darius is a social part who comes out only around our sister or parents. He formed during our first stay at a psych ward and fills the role of appearing to be happy, funny and easy going - he doesn't allow people to see our "broken" side.
Rose
Rose has been dormant for years. She holds the trauma with an ex partner and some of our family trauma. She was very caring towards other parts and worked hard on our healing.
"Me"
Me is a part who practices zen buddhism and helps other parts.

Nothing like the leaders of an elite army battalion raiding a kitchen like newborn dear cause none of them know how to actually cook.
In case it wasn't obvious I had stupid amounts of fun drawing this one. It was meant to be a silly warm up sketch but hahaha cut to a few hours later and I put my whole ass into drawing these dorks.
#Me and the boys at 3am energy#But they work 9 to 5 so they raid the fridge midday#It's 3am in spirit#That does mean anyone could walk in and see this chaotic bullshit#Fjorm#It's Fjorm#Everyone thinks the normal friend of the group is Alfonse but this dude looked death in the face and said he'd kill her in a week#So Fjorm is the one to walk in on them treating the fridge like a vertical couch and question what the fuck did she just walk in on#Is this a modern au? They are in a modern kitchen but in their high fantasy outfits. I'm gonna say they made a pitstop at Kiran's apartment#feh#fire emblem heroes#feh summoner#feh kiran#kiran#feh alfonse#alfonse#feh sharena#sharena#feh anna#fire emblem#art tag

How would the ro’s react to a usually bold mc
Getting flustered around them relationship stage
Hi, anon!
Anton's not necessarily shy or bold himself—probably somewhere in the middle—so a usually bold MC can fluster him from time to time. If the MC is suddenly flustered, it's a bit of a reprieve for him, but he also takes that as a signal to take more charge in an encounter.
Switch might be a little disappointed, but she would never admit to it. I would consider her more reserved rather than shy, but a bold MC takes a lot of pressure off of her in a relationship since they are the one usually making the first move. If an MC is suddenly acting flustered around her, Switch does her best to take charge, but it's likely very awkward in a painfully obvious way that she's stepping outside of her comfort zone.
Zero would tease MC good-naturedly but only if the teasing doesn't make MC uncomfortable. She wouldn't let them suffer under the teasing for too long, though. Zero is pretty open and bold with her affections and has no problems taking the lead.
Path would tease MC, but he's not as conscientious as Zero and might not let up on the teasing even if MC is uncomfortable about it. He would turn the rare occasion into a game of cat and mouse between them, playing up the anticipation of any romantic encounter.
Depending on how the flustered MC presents themself, Kiran may or may not notice. If he does notice, though, 9 out of 10 experts say Kiran is likely to attribute the change in behavior to the MC not feeling well or to something being off about their environment. Kiran shifts to problem solving mode and tries to find the root issue.
Yulia interprets it as a game and is eager to play, upping her own boldness to make up for MC's sudden lack of it.
Hex is a little glad and he's not quiet about it, saying how nice it is that he can still manage to fluster MC sometimes. It mostly doesn't change much about his behavior though.
A2 might interpret that scenario as the MC pulling back, which would make her worry that she did something wrong or said the wrong thing. She keeps those worries under wraps, but she subtly makes extra effort to be affectionate when the two of them are in private.
Thanks for the ask!

Chapter 9
The car rolled to a stop as I noticed the familiar green gates of Paro’s house. Kiran shifted the gears, turning to look at Paro snuggled up in my arms. They looked at my despairing eyes and her peaceful form melded into my body.
“What are you planning to do with that?” they asked pointedly.
“I’ll do what I have to do, I guess,” I muttered.
Kiran put their hands up in surrender. “I have no headgear on me, so you do you,” they said, opening the car door for me.
Slowly, I shifted Paro’s position, lightly placing my left hand at her neck and the other at her waist. I shifted towards the door, her head in the crook of my neck. Kiran guided me out and held the gate open. “Careful,” they murmured.
Opening the door to Paro’s flat, I turned to look at him. “Thank you,” I said. Kiran waved, a beaming smile on his face.
I carried Paro up the stairs, past Madame Fosco’s house. I chuckled inwardly at the thought of her seeing me carrying a very drunk Paro up the stairs at 9 p.m—especially with Paro’s parents off on another business trip. How many business trips can one manage, honestly?
Before long, I had placed Paro on her bed, trying not to stare at her peaceful form. I almost stood up to get myself a glass of water, when I heard a muffled gasp and felt Paro’s hands on mine. I sat down again, gently holding her hands between mine. She opened her eyes.
“Renu,” she whispered.
I leaned towards her, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “Go to sleep, doofus.”
Blatantly disobeying my words, she rolled over to the side. I tried not to be too offended. “Renu, did you bring me here? All by yourself?” she murmured, her voice raspy.
“You were pretty light,” I laughed. “It wasn’t very hard.”
Paro struggled to keep her eyes open, and I wondered how a person could look so beautiful even in such a state. “Renu,” she murmured, stifling a yawn. “Can I tell you something?”
My heart skipped a beat as I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Anything.”
She smiled. “I love you, Renu,” she said simply. Her eyelids fluttered close, leaving me frozen on the edge of her bed. It wasn’t long before I could hear her gentle snores over the sound of my thundering heart. If only she felt the same way when she was awake.
I turned the lights off and made my way to the door, locking it from the inside. We would have things to talk about tomorrow.
