I've been wanting Kyra Nerys's earing but they were never accurate enough in the cuff for my taste so I decided to make one myself and lov how it came out!

The main earing in made of polymer clay while the cuff is made out of part of an aluminum can. The details are made out of tacky glue and mod podge so the cuff is detailed while still being light weight and flexible.

I went to Pax Unplugged in my little Kira Nerys cosplay. Specially her outfit from Past Tense because 1) it's 2024 and it's funny and 2) I didn't want to try to do the nose ridges. And I'd like to report 2 people actually recognized me which was 2 more than I thought

I felt like drawing some of my favourite characters from the franchise - major Kira from DS9, T'Lyn from Lower Decks and Chris Pike from Strange New Worlds! They're all so neat!

first draft nearly done! pretty excited with it. personal sewing progress notes below the cut for anyone interested:

i had to do a couple of alterations to this pattern to get it to fit me post top-surgery, so i've done a practical muslin/draft of it with some materials i had around that don't LOOK similar but have similar properties to the materials i will be using for the actual major kira cosplay—

that's also why it's short sleeved! no point wasting more fabric than i have to when it's the shoulders that worried me, not the forearms or wrists.

i've never had to ease a sleeve-cap into a armhole before, and if you look at some of the pinching where the sleeve meets the shoulder, you can tell.

i also brought the shoulders in too close to the throat in the front, which creates a strong tension there, as well as a bit of a strangeness in the back, but the actual bust deletion adjustments worked fucking excellently, and despite the errors it fits well enough to wear.

:^D i'm happy with it. even with the colors being off, looking in the mirror and seeing a bit of kira in there is really fun :^)

Teylabeth Week goes into its third round!

For everyone who is new to this or unsure what this is about, let me clear things up:

What is Teylabeth Week? Teylabeth week is a week during which we celebrate the ship of Teyla Emmagan/Elizabeth Weir more than usual, a week where we show our love and appreciation of this ship.

When is Teylabeth Week? Teylabeth Week 2024 will take place between June 3.-9.

How can I participate? There are many ways you can participate! By writing fanfic, making fanart, writing meta, editing, collaging, cosplaying, giffing, whatever seems right to you to celebrate this ship!

I don’t really write/make art/feel comfortable with sharing anything, can I still participate? Of course! This week lives through people who engage with the contributions! Go through the Teylabeth tag, engage with posts and fanart, comment on fics, the sort of things that keep fandoms alive!

Are there rules to the contributions? No rules! Everything is allowed! But please make sure that your contributions are tagged accordingly (ratings on ao3 as well as content warnings) so people can filter them out! Also, since this is Teylabeth week, the contributions should center around Teylabeth <3

Is there going to be a fic exchange? No, there isn’t.

Are there going to be prompts? Yes, indeed! You can find the prompts below.

okay okay... PROGRESS!

Just the inner lining all cut out and generally placed down

I... really should've taken a photo with the shiny exterior facing up but oh well. The shiny part is underneath in this photo, you'll just have to trust me. Everything but the collar is now cut out. Sleeves are pinned. I just need to start sewing in the ribbing then sew everything together.

Once I add ribs to the sleeves I'll see how much time that takes and decide if I'll do the same for the shirt before this Saturday or if I just sew everything as is and add ribbing another time.

I think I will attempt to tackle the beast that is my 3D printer tonight and see if I can get the Alliance emblem printed out.

I keep forgetting I can... actually post my own stuff here lmao. Anyway, I thought maybe someone would be interested in seeing the WIPs for my mirror Kira cosplay.

I wondered for a bit how I was going to sew the ends of the elastic so it wouldn't keep fraying.... then I remembered I could singe the edges. The first image shows the singed edge on the left and the unsigned on the right. The images after show the front and back view of the harness just safety pinned (I wanted to test spacing and angles and also at the time I didn't have references of the back. I sewed the front and test-fitted it on one of the mannequins I have.

Here's what it looks like with the pants, harness, and Bajoran combadge + an agoniser I was gifted by a friend. I did find a reference of the back of the harness by this point but foolishly did not take a photo. I'll update this thread with that, if for nothing more than my own documentation. It's just basically the same cross that's in the front.
