first draft nearly done! pretty excited with it. personal sewing progress notes below the cut for anyone interested:

i had to do a couple of alterations to this pattern to get it to fit me post top-surgery, so i've done a practical muslin/draft of it with some materials i had around that don't LOOK similar but have similar properties to the materials i will be using for the actual major kira cosplay—

that's also why it's short sleeved! no point wasting more fabric than i have to when it's the shoulders that worried me, not the forearms or wrists.

i've never had to ease a sleeve-cap into a armhole before, and if you look at some of the pinching where the sleeve meets the shoulder, you can tell.

i also brought the shoulders in too close to the throat in the front, which creates a strong tension there, as well as a bit of a strangeness in the back, but the actual bust deletion adjustments worked fucking excellently, and despite the errors it fits well enough to wear.

:^D i'm happy with it. even with the colors being off, looking in the mirror and seeing a bit of kira in there is really fun :^)

And as you can see, it was promptly determined to be fit for a tiny fuzzy queen

For scale, this is on a queen size bed. And because I only finished a few minutes ago, it is as yet unblocked. The yarn is Nazli Gelin Garden Metallic; 99% Egyptian cotton, 1% glitter yarn. The pattern is mostly Rozetti Yarns Crochet Shawl free from Universal Yarns; I wasn’t wild about the edge as written so I did my own shenanigan for the final row.

As I have no special occasions in my future that this shawl would be great for, I am definitely putting it up for sale. Matrimony, festivals, wandering the moors with a candelabra, embracing your inner Stevie Nicks - choose your own occasion and make me an offer.

Finally have a finished project for Finished Object Friday!!!

(and I'm actually really happy with the fit on this one too, so here's my stony mug)

This is the Paintbox Hoodie knitting pattern published by KnitPicks [though I found the pattern as-published to be very poorly edited, and as such I had to rewrite much of the pattern myself]. Yarn is KnitPicks Brava Sport in the colors suggested by the pattern, though I switched black yarn in place of the white yarn they used, because black fucks harder.

This is the first project I've ever spent timing myself on, as people always ask me how long it takes me to knit things. I can confidently say this hoodie took me 101.25 hours of work in total!

I think I fell in love with the concept of this hoodie due to it being a good dysphoria hoodie in construction, but by its obviously rainbow nature also a pride project. Though it may be for the best that I didn't finish this in time for Pride Month, seeing as I would have died from the heat wearing this outside in June.

Hohohoho I have put 5 mini skeins in jars with all my neon dyes in the oven 20 min ago and after another 25 min I can turn the oven off and let them cool to touchable temperature and THEN I can dye the last 5 mini skeins in all the colors I haven't tried yet because by complete coincidence I have exactly 5 colors I haven't used yet. All these colors are Jacquard acid dye colorways.

Currently dyeing: vivid violet, blacklight blue. Chartreuse, florescent orange, and florescent yellow (haven't tried this one yet. Very excited to see how it turns out)

Dyeing next: pink, teal, pumpkin, golden yellow, and fire red
