So like. SG-1 is scouting around and they see a herd of weird animals that look like a cross between a unicorn and a gazelle of all things, except kind of weird. But also not the weirdest they have ever seen. And they try to keep their distance, really, they're not stupid enough to approach unknown animals.
Except suddenly the entire herd starts running right at them, so of course they also start running to try to get out of the way. Only it turns out the Space Unicorns are running from a bunch of predators that look like really really big cats. Like, big honkin' space cats.
And oh shit, the Cats decided that humans actually offend them on a personal level, so now the team is really hauling ass to get away. And maybe taking some potshots at the Cats, who basically just shrug it off what the hell, and also they can zap you like their grandma was an electric eel, seriously what the hell, and maybe the team is running in the wrong direction, Daniel! the base is the other way! except is kind of too late to change that.
So they make it to the shore and are running along the beach, at least it's rocky and not sandy that would have been really bad to run along. And it looks like the cats are bored of the chase because they all stopped further back and now are only growling and hissing in their direction and backing away.
. . .
. . .
. . . something is growling real loud behind them.
#and then the behemoth gets out of the water#is it too late to choose the zappy cats?#the glaives might have been coming back to that solheimr ruin#to secure it and go through everything their new prisoners left there#because they are still trying to figure out how to communicate with people#//who don't speak any language known on eos//#cor is there too#and he knows#that clarus is absolutely going to lecture him again#about swordfighting a behemoth //again//#at least he can honestly say he had a back-up for this#ffxv#stargate#sg1#kingsglaive#cor leonis#fic#fanfiction#fanfic#my ideas#space (a magical place)

Nyx Ulric X F.Reader - Secret desire
(GIF is not mine!)
Summary: Nyx would die to rip off your dress here and now and fuck you in front of all the guests! But his job as a guard can't allow him to do that. Knowing that, you take the opportunity to tease him a little... with pleasurable consequences for you.
Many thanks to @fangirl-ramblings 🖤 she has been beta reading for me 🌹 And thanks to everyone who reads my stories. Thank you for your love!! 🌷🖤

Nyx Ulric X F.Reader - Secret desire (18+)
Clearing his throat repeatedly, Nyx tried as best he could to stand still at his duty position while he grew increasingly hot and simply felt the need to open his jacket. His blue eyes followed every graceful movement of the young woman in the white dress. Y/N was her name and Nyx had admired the beautiful woman from the first moment he had seen her. It hadn't taken long for the young kingsglaive to ask her out, and they had been a couple for three months now. A smile flashed across Nyx's lips as he watched his girlfriend talk to the other guests, her charming manner sparking interest in her listeners. Then she turned her head in his direction and she immediately gave him a bright smile that was meant for him alone.
Nyx raised his brown eyes, his gaze sliding from her feet up to her head and thereupon he gave her a seductive smile, followed by a wink. She looked simply stunning. The white fabric accentuated her skin and her hair fell in great waves down her delicate back.
"Babe..." he said silently, but Y/N could clearly read those words on his lips and she gave him a sensual smile. It was too bad that Nyx's task at the moment was to take care of the security of the guests and the king, while the birthday party of Prince Noctis was celebrated. Here under the starry sky and on the roof of the royal building, one could look down on the whole city. Definitely a great view, but Nyx could hardly take his eyes off his girlfriend, as she was too desirable and a blessing for his eyes.
Y/N turned away from the guests and wished them a pleasant evening before she made her way to Nyx. The black haired man purred softly at the sight of her smooth movements and Y/N knew exactly how to arouse Nyx's excitement without having to do much. When she had seen the white dress in the shop window, she had to buy it, because she had known Nyx would love it.
"Mmm, that dress looks wonderful on you" he purred in her ear after she had leaned over and kissed him softly in greeting.
Nyx's eyes wandered all over the area. He just wanted to make sure that everything was in order and that there was harmony among the guests. Not everyone was a sympathizer of the king, so the king's guards were always on hand.
"You smell wonderful," Nyx whispered as he stroked his hand over her lower back, then pulled her close to him.
Y/N's hazel eyes shimmered as she looked up at him and Nyx felt his desire for her grow, making it harder and harder for him to concentrate on his work. Her body was warm, tender, and all of that he was intensely aware of at the moment, because she had pressed herself against him and she knew exactly what she was doing.
"It's a shame you don't have time for me, Nyx."
She moistened her lower lip with her tongue, giving him a lascivious look as her hands stroked his chest. The young man closed his eyes for a moment to escape the sight of this delicate creature. But her scent, her warmth and her touch, made that impossible.
"Oh, baby girl. You have no idea what I'd love to do to you right now," he whispered, deeply aroused, and yet inside he was just desperate, because he couldn't just leave his post. A soft giggle was heard from her and Nyx couldn't help but smirk as well. Oh, she knew exactly how to tease him and he had to admit that he enjoyed it very much. His fingers slowly slid over her back, up and down, while he looked into her eyes.
"I would love to lay you across a table right now and have you in front of all the guests..."
"Nyx!"
Y/N gently slapped his chest before he could finish his sentence. She shook her head while her cheeks reddened. Nyx laughed in amusement when he saw her shocked expression. Lovingly, he cupped her delicate face and kissed her sensual lips, whereupon Y/N sighed contentedly and wrapped her arms around his neck. As passionate as his kisses were, this moment was as sweet as sugar.
"Mmm... Y/N, you're really not making it easy for me right now."
Smiling, the young woman closed her eyes as Nyx pressed a kiss to her cheek.
"Very well, Nyx. I'll leave you to your work in peace," she replied, finally detaching herself from the Kingsglaive.
So she headed back into the crowd, leaving a very agitated Nyx. The latter racked his brains as to whether he could leave his post for ten minutes to secretly disappear with his girlfriend into one of the many rooms in this building.
"Sucks when you can't leave your position, huh?"
Libertus, a longtime friend of Nyx, approached him with a broad grin. Nyx rolled his eyes in annoyance. Yes, Libertus was right about that, but he didn't need to be told that as well.
"Why aren't you at your position, Libertus?"
"Good news for you, Nyx! We're supposed to switch places! Drautos arranged it."
"Drautos arranged this?"
Nyx raised his eyebrow, looking at his friend somewhat skeptically. Why would Drautos have arranged this?
"Are you going to switch with me or not? I mean... there's not a soul inside except for a few guards, and I could send Y/N to you with an excuse. But if you don't want to, I'll flirt with your girl a bit. I... ouch!"
Nyx didn't let Libertus finish the sentence, giving him a good smack on the back of his head, but they both laughed.
"Shut the fuck up, Libertus!"
And with a smirk on his lips, Nyx accepted Libertus' offer and switched positions with him. His eyes wandered among the many people, but he was only looking for Y/N and when he caught sight of her, he walked towards her with smooth movements. His deep blue eyes literally devoured the young woman. Hungry like a wolf approaching its prey. But as gently as a lamb, Nyx grazed her hip as he walked past her. His eyes looked deep into hers and she looked up at him with a somewhat surprised expression. But when he pointed his eyes in a certain direction, she immediately understood what Nyx was up to. Y/N instantly felt her stomach start to tingle and heat flooded her abdomen at the thought of what she and Nyx were about to do.
The young Kingsglaive was already walking ahead of her and threw her another wink before turning his back on her.
The young woman waited a moment before sneaking off as well.
"Nyx?"
There was not a soul to be seen on the corridors of this floor. It was noticeably quieter than outside. The music still reached her ears, but it was somewhat muffled.
Without warning, someone grabbed her wrist and she knew immediately that it was Nyx who was about to pull her into his arms. She allowed it to happen and immediately she wrapped her arms around his broad neck as he began showering her delicate neck with soft kisses.
"Nyx... mhm"
Her fingers gently slid through his black hair, which felt so deliciously soft. It wasn't long before she felt Nyx pushing her against the wall, and she more than welcomed it. His hands wandered over her entire body, almost greedily, while his lips caressed the soft, sensitive skin on her neck. Panting softly, she leaned her head against the wall behind her and with her eyes closed, she enjoyed the moment.
The young man's hands slid over her hips, further down to her firm, buttocks, where he gripped them a little tighter. His tongue slid over her throat, up to her chin and finally he gently reached out to kiss her lips. Their tongues instantly played off each other, in a very natural way.
She withdrew from the kiss after a brief moment, but the young man used that to continue caressing her skin with his lips.
"We should... oh... mhm, Nyx..."
She whispered his name with desire as he bit her earlobe.
"If we're seen here... Nyx, please"
His tongue slid over her neck, and he knew exactly which spot to caress to drive Y/N out of her mind.
"I don't... care about that right now, babygirl. The only thing I want to do right now..."
He growled softly, deeply aroused by her and this whole situation, he pressed his body close to hers and his knee slid between her legs.
"... Is to fuck you till you lose your senses!"
Nyx voice was full of lust and full of desire for the brunette. Her fingers clawed desperately at his jacket as she realized that he really didn't seem to care if they were both caught here making love. Sure, it had a certain appeal to do it secretly in public, but in the end it was nobody's business what she and Nyx were doing together.
"Nyx, please. Let's go somewhere where we can be undisturbed!"
Nyx couldn't deny his girlfriend this wish, especially since he knew Y/N would never concentrate on the real thing if the fear of getting caught tormented her. Nyx stroked through her thick hair before kissing her gently and pulling away from her a bit. With a soft smile on his lips, he took her hand. Wordlessly, he led her with him, looking for a door that could also be opened and was not locked.
Nyx seemed more than impatient and this made Y/N laugh a little. Hearing this, the young man gave her a lascivious look.
"You can't wait yourself, baby girl. I know you!"
Nyx wasn't wrong about that.
"You think so?" she countered in a cheeky undertone, letting Nyx lead her further down the long corridor. She laughed softly as Nyx finally found happiness, letting out a relieved sigh.
"Finally!"
As soon as they entered the empty room, Nyx lifted his girlfriend into his arms and kissed her hungrily, while she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave herself to him completely.
He carried her in his arms like a bride and Y/N felt like a princess. And he was her prince, the Kingsglaive Nyx.
"Well, aren't you going to carry me to bed, Nyx?"
They had actually found a empty guest room, which had undoubtedly not been used for several months. It was a bit dusty, but that was no reason for them not to pursue their desire.
Nyx didn't let himself be asked a second time, so he took Y/N to the large guest bed and he had to admit that this large room was a welcome change from his small apartment. Nyx wanted to be able to offer his Y/N so much more than his small, gray apartment. He could definitely imagine moving in with her. She did him good, made his life worth living in the first place, because he knew she was waiting for him, that she loved him and valued him. Something Nyx had been looking for for so many years and out of the blue Y/N suddenly came into his life.
"I'm afraid we don't have too much time for this!" Nyx said regretfully as he laid her down in the soft sheets. Y/N pulled Nyx down by his jacket and began unbuttoning it.
"Then we should get moving, Nyx!" she smirked as she already undid the first buttons of his uniform.
Nyx's hungry kiss made her gasp in pleasure as she returned it. It didn't take long for Nyx to unbutton his pants and lower them enough to pull out his already highly aroused penis. His cock was eagerly waiting to sink into her warm, wet pussy.
"Your jacket and shirt, Nyx!"
It would be a shame not to show off his wonderful, well-toned torso. But Nyx whispered between hot kisses that they didn't have enough time for that, while his hand slipped under her dress and caressed the tender skin beneath.
Her head fell back invitingly and a fierce desire overtook Nyx, whereupon he wasted no more time in pulling the dress over her head and burying his face against her wonderful breasts to inhale her seductive scent.
"Oh, babygirl... you're so sexy."
His hand gripped her left breast after he undid her bra and threw it carelessly aside. His body pressed against hers as he took her stiff nipple into his mouth and sucked on it greedily. Y/N could clearly feel his big cock against her inner thigh. She could clearly feel how much it was pulsating and that excited her deeply.
The young man let go of her breast with a soft smack before he sat up and looked down at her. This desirable creature was still dressed only in her lace stockings. Oh, he was into that kind of thing! He loved it when she wore those silky stockings for him. They reached all the way up her firm thigh.
"Oh, yeah, that's exactly how I want you!"
Y/N smiled seductively and curled up in front of his eyes, knowing exactly what he liked. Playfully, she let her hands slide over her tits as she opened her legs, giving him a glimpse of her glistening pussy. Nyx's eyes were dark with desire as he lowered his head between her legs and began licking her. Instantly the young woman closed her eyes and her fingers clawed into his black hair as she moaned lustfully. His tongue circled her clit before he closed his lips around it and began to suck on it with pleasure.
"Ahhh!"
Hearing her pleasure was pure music to him and he enjoyed feasting on her juices to the fullest.
"Oh my god, Nyx..."
He was damn good with his tongue! His blue eyes looked up at her as his tongue circled over her clit and he watched her face contorted in pleasure. Her cheeks were flushed all over and her thighs began to tremble. At the sight, Nyx's cock swelled even more until finally it was almost unbearable. He released his lips from her womanhood and licked her nectar from his lips before covering her mouth with his and kissing her fiercely. Her arms wrapped around his broad neck as he made himself comfortable between her legs, taking his cock in his hand. He circled her clit with the silky tip of his penis, slid between her wet folds, and finally pushed into her with a powerful thrust. They both moaned together.
She pulled him close, her hands sliding over his hard buttocks where she dug her fingers into the firm flesh as he fucked her hard.
"Y/N!"
The feeling of being inside her was indescribably beautiful and so damn arousing. His hands gripped at her buttocks and he lifted her to meet his thrusts. His movements became faster, rougher, and the young woman beneath him clawed at the soft sheet as she melted with lust and desire.
"Ahh! Nxy!"
Her head fell back into the pillows as her upper body rose up and she was taken by a hot wave of pleasure that gave her an incredible orgasm. At the sight of his beautiful girlfriend, Nyx couldn't hold on any longer and he moaned in deep lust, thrusting hard into her a few times until he too finally came and shot his cum deep inside her. Nyx pressed tightly against her groin as he unloaded inside her and Y/N watched him do so, seeing how beautiful he was as he savored his climax.
Full of love and affection, he looked at Y/N before kissing her tenderly on her mouth. Both still panting and satisfied by their climax, Nyx withdrew from her and lay down next to Y/N on the soft bed. His chest rose and fell in a quick beat as he looked up at the ceiling with a grin before turning his gaze to Y/N. He gently pulled her to his chest and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Wrapping his arm around her, the young woman snuggled against his chest.
"Mhm, that was fantastic", she whispered, purring softly. She would love to fall asleep in this bed right now, but unfortunately that was not possible. Especially since Nyx had to get back to his duty.
"How long will your duty last?"
"Until all the guests go home, or our prince decides to end his birthday party early," Nyx replied while caressing the tender skin on her shoulder. She curled up against his body and sighed soundlessly, but she smiled.
"Then I'll wait for you and we'll go home together," she whispered, and Nyx was pleased by her idea. He looked down at his girlfriend with a warm smile and gently brushed a few strands of hair from her cheek.
"That would be wonderful," he whispered, hugging her closer to him. He closed his eyes, savoring the moment with his beloved before he would have to return to his duties.

Call all Nyx Ulric fans!
I've decided I'm going to try to write a Fem!Nyx that's bonded with dragons, mostly cause I fucking like dragons and want Nyx to have dragons as well. There's a possibility of one of three pairings
RegNyx
CorNyx
DrauNyx
The premise is this-
Nyx is sent on a mission to the ruins of Solhiem, specifically to a place called Agoria Hall, which could have possibly been a dragon breeding farm, I'm undecided, but there in the ruins or in the surrounding area she finds the remains of a large she-dragon curled around an overgrown nest. Now she either finds one egg or two, I have color palettes picked for both eggs and dragons.

@a-world-in-grey
Does Nyx even need a permission to resign? Can't he just do it, since he signed for the job of free will?
Or does it depend? Like normally, he would give Captain Drautos a notice, work additional six months and then he's free, no questions asked. But if he wants to leave at the end of the month, he needs permission from the King and a good reason for doing so.
I think I'm gonna need a list of Sola's relationship status in different verses because I'm lost.
Nox!Sola gets married at 20 and has three kids by the time canon rolls around.
Dyn!Sola is married but has only the one kid when she's 27.
Hanahaki!Sola is dating but not married?
And I have no idea what the rest of them are doing.
No problem!
In Shadows of Heaven's Light, Sola starts dating Libertus at 20, marries at 24, and they adopt their first kid during the Long Night when Sola is 27-28 (exact timeline on that is still TBD). For reference, Libertus is 5 years older than Sola.
For aus or crossovers where Sola and Libertus don't time travel, they end up adopting another four kids. Sola dies in her sixties from the strain using so much magic over the years had on her body, while Libertus lives into his eighties and gets to meet the first of his great-grandkids.
Take My Breath au (Hanahaki!Sola), Libertus and Sola don't start dating until she's 25 at the earliest, but I may push that back to when she's 26-27 depending what I plan to do with the plot. So she and Libertus are dating but not married by the time canon starts.
Sunshine Never Stops au (Nif!Sola), Sola doesn't meet Libertus until she's 19-20 years old, and while she does get a crush on him, she hasn't at all considered the idea of dating anyone while she's so focused on curing the Starscourge.
Nox!Sola starts dating Libertus when she's 20, like in SoHL, but she and Libertus have a whoops pregnancy when she's 21, resulting in twins when she's 21-22. Sola and Libertus marry Galahdian-style shortly after Sola finds out she's pregnant, but they don't have a Lucian wedding until after the twins are born. Then, during the Roadtrip Nox and Sola take Noctis on when Nox and Sola are about 24, Sola finds out part way through that she's pregnant again, resulting in kid #3 by the time she's 25. Which is all I've got so far for that.
Dyn!Sola again started dating Libertus at 20, only for Noctis to disappear a year later. Sola and Libertus married shortly before Noctis came home with Dyn, and Sola got pregnant about three months before Noctis' Coming of Age, shortly before she turned 25, so she'll give birth in the coming spring, a couple months before she turns 26. As for how many kids that'll be... I think I'll keep that under my hat for now. >:)
But general rule of thumb: if Sola's younger than 20, she hasn't started dating Libertus, and barring a whoops baby or other unusual circumstance, Libertus and Sola date for four years (traditional in Lucian culture) before getting married. And, barring extenuating circumstances such as time travel, Libertus and Sola eventually end up with a bunch of kids, biological and/or adopted.
Hope this helps!

The Moon’s Best Friend [Something by The Rembrandts, Part I]
“What did Nyx do now?”
“I did absolutely nothing but bring good tidings, and present the opportunity for you to watch Crowe Altius turn into the most useless lesbian you’ve ever seen.”
In which Lunafreya returns from traveling abroad and sets in motion a healthy rivalry between baristas, a serious negotiation over coffee and pastries, and questionable professional relationships regarding ASMR recordings.
Rating: PG-13 (for language and mild sexual themes); future parts may have higher ratings, but this should be good for now
Originally written for the Day 5 Modern AU Prompt over at @glaiveweek! Enjoy, and give this baby a reblog if you enjoyed it!
Tagging: @wolfgoddess77 @vashiane @sailorprompto @sedge-butt @marianne-dash-wood @me-yasato @alecair @toranyx @goodmorningawfulbye @paopusunshine @noxhighwind @sailormars109 @bleucommelhiver @elloquench @ultimoogle @kidolegend @rhysspeaces @theyearofdiamonddogs @ghostl0rd
There were three reasons, and only three reasons, why Crowe Altius would be cranky during opening:
1) It was a Wednesday, 2) She was still mildly hungover, or 3) Nyx had his eyes on someone, again.
Today was two of those things.
Okay, to be fair, what kind of a name was “hump day” for Wednesdays, anyway? It had to be, like, the single most unattractive day, and here it was, touting its nickname every week like it really fuckin deserved it. Why not, you know, Saturday? It even sounded attractive. S for Saturday, S for sexy. God damn, she was a genius sometimes. The world would miss her intellect when she was gone.
And what business did Nyx have practically dancing around The Hearth before he’d even laid eyes on anyone else? Anyone else besides her, of course, because all she was apparently good for was a ruffle of long, messy hair and a chirrup of “Mornin, Little Bird.” But come on. The guy was standing on tiptoe to place cups of yogurt and mixed fruit in the refrigerated display case. He didn’t even have to stand on tiptoe; he only ever did it to make fun of the places she couldn’t quite reach. It was like every motion of his was hard to control.
(Not that that was saying much. Nyx was always hard to control, once something grabbed him by his weird hair and ran away with him.)
“All right,” she finally said, with a defeated sigh; she was halfway through writing the baked goods lineup in a careful script. (It had to be careful, or else it’d turn into the chicken scratch that just barely helped her pass her exams.) “Spill, Nyx.”
“Pretty sure that’s not on the opening checklist.” Nyx was all stupid, dreamy grins as he smoothed out his apron, a navy blue color with a shade that they were all lucky enough to pull off. Crowe wouldn’t have been surprised if that was some secret part of the hiring process here. Or maybe it was a job restricted to hopeless cases. Drautos was always touting the word “potential” like it was meant to be plastered across the bumper of his car.
“You know what I mean,” Crowe said with a roll of her eyes. “What’s got you all… you know, this?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
“Um, yeah.” She gave him her trademark are-you-fucking-kidding-me look over the low, hazy buzz of the playlist she’d flipped on to get her through the shift—she’d have to thank her past self for that. Treat herself to one of the more expensive drinks or something. “That’s kind of why I asked.”
If it was even possible, Nyx’s smile grew. “Our lady’s back in town.”
The chalk tumbled from Crowe’s poised fingers and fell to the floor with a clatter; she barely registered how tightly she was gripping the edge of the counter, how wide her eyes had gone. “Shut the fuck up.”
“If I had a nickel for every time I heard you say that…” That was Pelna unlocking the door and slipping into the shop now, halfway out of his scarf and making a beeline to hang up his coat. Two years of friendship—barely counting how long they’d actually known each other—and Crowe still hadn’t quite put together how he managed to have a casual cheer about him every morning. “What did Nyx do now?”
“I did absolutely nothing but bring good tidings, and present the opportunity for you”—Nyx paused his work to jab a finger at Pelna, who was pulling his apron over his head—“to watch Crowe Altius turn into the most useless lesbian you’ve ever seen.”
“I’m not useless…” Crowe muttered. “And I’m bi, thank you.”
For a few seconds Pelna didn’t move; it was only as he began to brew the coffee that he said, flatly, “I don’t think I even want to know what you’re talking about.” That was Pelna for you: mostly silent and focused on his work, with a few wisecracks up polo shirts or ribbed sweater sleeves.
Crowe, for her part, let out an exasperated sigh and returned to her script, embellishing the chalkboard with a few designs. She was never particularly good at it—as much as it begrudged her to say it, this was more of Luche’s thing (if he ever took a damn opening shift for once)—but she made it work.
That was The Hearth for you. Four walls and a tiled backsplash of making it work.
She liked to think they all fit sort of nicely here. Even Luche, for all his insistence on 12 to 7 shifts.
“C’mon, Pel.” Nyx was rounding the counter to examine the opening checklist, throwing an arm around Pelna’s shoulders and pointing outside, like they had more than ten minutes before the first customers arrived. “You can’t tell me you aren’t about to get all gooey when you see Lunafreya Nox Fleuret walk through those doors.”
“Sure I can,” Pelna said simply, unmoving in Nyx’s grip. “I’ve never met her.”
Nyx’s mouth fell open. Crowe didn’t see why it was so surprising; Pelna had only started working here about a year ago. Just after Lunafreya had gone back to England—to find a little more of herself, she said, but Crowe had always had the feeling that she didn’t want to let on that she was homesick in the whirlwind of her job, or ever could be. But that didn’t mean that Pelna wouldn’t fall like the rest of them. An impressionable, well-meaning guy like him? He’d be hopelessly wrapped around her every whim in seconds. Crowe was sure of it.
“You’ll meet her soon enough,” Nyx was saying. “And then you’ll memorize her order like the rest of us. And, you know. Never be able to take it, because you’re too lost in her gorgeous eyes…”
“Or the color of her scrubs,” Crowe added, throwing a towel over her shoulder. “You know they call her the Angel of the Pediatric Ward at the hospital? That’s how good she is.”
“And don’t forget her accent.”
“God, her accent—”
Okay, so maybe the two of them were leaning more than a little hopelessly against various pieces of equipment. Just a little. But Nyx was worse than she was; she practically swore by it. At least she could say hello to Lunafreya. Nyx could barely get through one sentence without stuttering or making an ass of himself with some pickup line he read in some abandoned paperback he’d picked up from a subway bench. Crowe knew Lunafreya was only laughing at the lines out of pity. There was no way they actually worked on her, for all of Nyx’s proud strutting behind the espresso machines once she’d left with her usual order.
Crowe was more than sure she’d have an arm and a leg up on him and everyone else in this damn shop when Lunafreya Nox Fleuret walked through that door today.
…If she walked through that door today.
———
“All right.” Pelna was leaning against the counter between surges of mid-morning customers, arms folded and eyebrow raised, a challenging glint in his eyes. “What’s this ‘Lunafreya’s’ order, then?” God, Nyx and Crowe were all about this mystery woman ever since opening. Like they were expecting some holy being to brighten their doorway, hand them a few blessed bucks, and be on her merry way. And sure, some might categorize him as some kind of disaster, but they seemed so convinced that it was only a matter of time before he went tumbling down with them. At least he wasn’t frantically looking at the clock every time he filled an order.
...He wasn’t that bad when he saw someone cute, was he?
Nyx responded first. “Medium green tea with spearmint, two sugars.”
“Unless she’s not feeling well,” Crowe chimed in. “Then she treats herself a little. Small white chocolate mocha, one pump of raspberry. And a slice of cranberry cake.”
“And how do you know when she’s not feeling well?” Pelna asked.
“You know.” Nyx dried his hands on the front of his apron, seemingly not caring about the dark splotches left in their wake. “She tries to do a good job of hiding it—because, you know, that’s how she is—but you know Lunafreya long enough, you see it in every little way she carries herself.”
Because that wasn’t creepy at all.
Pelna sighed and rolled his eyes. As grateful as he was that Crowe had gotten him this job, and as much as he cherished his coworkers like family, they sure as hell got on his nerves sometimes. (Maybe that was part of the whole family deal. Maybe he’d just played himself all along. He’d have to get his own congratulations in order.) “How do you even know she’ll come in today? You said her flight came in, what, two days ago? You ever consider that she’s probably unpacking? Or sleeping off jet lag?”
“It’s a five-hour difference,” Crowe said, as if that was supposed to prove her point entirely, and nudged him toward the till again to greet another customer. “And she’s incredibly efficient. It’s practically her middle name.”
“I thought Nox was her middle name.”
“That’s her last name,” said Nyx with a sigh as he cleaned off a steamer. “Nox Fleuret Honestly, Pel, keep up.”
“Jesus. Sorry I’m getting a crash course in my coworker’s courting competition.” Pelna wrinkled his nose. He’d have to be more careful with his words; alliteration sounded so tacky sometimes. Or maybe that was some distant lecture from Luche coming to the forefront of his mind. All this time being a barista, and you would have thought Luche Lazarus would let go of the whole I was a French Lit major in college vibe basically whenever he existed.
That was assuming, of course, that Luche Lazarus let go of anything that wasn’t a stranger in his bed.
Pelna couldn’t help but wonder what kind of horse he had in this game.
“All I’m saying,” he went on in between scribbling names on nondenominational winter cups and sliding them across the bar, “is not to get your hopes up. Travel takes a lot out of you. She’s probably getting used to being here again, if she’s been gone as long as you say she has.”
“What d’you think she was doing there for a whole year?” Crowe mused. “It’s not like her to just… up and leave her commitments behind. You think something happened to her brother?”
“First of all, you really think that’s our business?” Nyx shot back. “And second of all, yes.”
Pelna was starting to get the feeling he could turn this into a game. Try to parse out the things Nyx and Crowe learned directly from Lunafreya, and the things they’d put together from poking around her social media accounts—if she even had them to begin with. But if his own grandmother had had one before, there was no reason some busy nursing student didn’t. At least for networking purposes. From what the others were saying about her, she had to be able to do that much.
“And anyway,” Nyx was saying, giving Pelna a nudge he wasn’t expecting, which threw him just a bit off balance, “If she’s back, I can guarantee that within forty-eight hours, she’ll have visited Insomnia. Which means there’s no reason she wouldn’t stop by The Hearth.”
“So what you’re telling me is”—Pelna stopped to wipe down a spill, to hand off a latte with a typical toothy grin—“Lunafreya Nox Fleuret is going to visit the bakery one block over, and then miraculously have the appetite to visit a cafe right after.”
“It’s less about the pastries and more about the people, y’know,” Crowe explained. “Obviously she’s got to make her rounds and greet everyone she knows. That’s practically in her blood, too.”
“You know, you can just say outright that she has connections to Reggie What’s-His-Face without putting her on a pedestal.”
“And you could actually remember to respect that Regis Lucis Caelum is the reason any of us has a job at all.”
Oh, Pelna remembered. He just couldn’t remember the last time he’d heard a name as ridiculous as Regis Lucis Caelum. His son barely counted—a scrawny college-aged kid named Noctis who came every day for a week straight, twice a semester, ordered a dirty whatever-goes-well-with-espresso, and claimed he was ready to fight God when asked how many shots he wanted. A year into this job, and he still had no idea what Noctis Lucis Caelum’s major was, or anything beyond the fact that he barely wanted anything to do with Insomnia.
Crowe sure got touchy about these job things when it came down to it.
Before any of them could speak up again, the bell above the shop door signaled an entrance, and both Nyx’s and Crowe’s faces went deathly pale, then furiously red, almost at the same time. Near-instantly, they turned to busy themselves with the closest thing to them—an espresso machine that needed cleaning, a restocking of the display case. If not for the click of high heel against tile, Pelna might have thought that Drautos was making his entrance for the day—if it had been Luche, he would have made himself known. It was like he was legally obligated to, whenever he came in for his shifts.
“Good fucking luck,” Crowe hissed as she all but shoved him to the register, flashed a sunny smile outward, and went right back to tidying up the counter, and Pelna found himself face-to-face with the calmest, saddest blue eyes he’d ever seen, complemented by a too-polite smile.
Oh.
Oh, God.
This was Lunafreya Nox Fleuret.
To be fair, she certainly was pretty; her cheeks were flushed from the cold weather, golden hair tied in a high ponytail and accented by a couple of braids that, on first sight, Pelna almost mistook for a headband. And she wore a fashionable winter coat—grey, and probably wool—that looked more like a dress than an actual coat. He couldn’t help but feel soothed as she stood there, wallet in hand.
But Pelna tossed a glance at the others, gave her his signature smile with a cup in one hand and a marker in the other, and asked, “What can I get for you, miss?”
He could practically hear their mouths fall open, and rewarded himself a little victory glance out the doors.
Which was, of course, his biggest mistake. Because there, tied to the lamppost just outside, were two dogs, settled side-by-side, somewhere between sitting and standing as they attempted to peer into the cafe. As if waiting for someone. As if waiting for her. Longing for her.
God, why did he have to be so weak for dogs? No, better question—why did dogs have to be so good and pure practically all the time? Did they know how good they were? Did he know how much he loved them? All of them? Did they know—
Lunafreya cleared her throat then, soft but pointed, and Pelna snapped back to attention with a sheepish blush, still holding the cup. “Sorry ‘bout that, I, uh…” Vaguely, he pointed out the door, almost ashamed of himself for having been distracted so long. “Do you mind repeating your order for me?”
She smiled again—just as polite as the first time—and she spoke quietly, with an English accent. “A small white chocolate mocha, please. With one pump of raspberry syrup. And…” She leaned to the side to peer at the pastry case, quirking her lips. “Have you got any more cranberry cake?”
Pelna had to bite back the urge to ask if everything was all right. Far be it from him to tumble into that rabbit hole. “Yeah—yeah, we do,” he said, and rang her up without a hitch, scrawling her name on the side of her cup. L-U-N-A-F-R-E-Y-A.
Maybe a little more elegant than Reggie What’s-His-Face.
Lunafreya was still smiling, still hiding something in her eyes, when he handed her the order. “Are you fond of dogs?” she asked, casting a glance outside.
“I love them,” Pelna said almost immediately, feeling almost grateful that there was no one behind her in line, and that he could safely go on his break. “Almost broke my ankle running to pet one once… I guess I’m making up for the fact that my landlord doesn’t allow pets.”
“They’re mine, you know,” she mentioned between sips of coffee, and for a fraction of a second, in the moments that Pelna was mixing himself an iced tea, it almost felt like his life was falling together in the best of ways. “Would you like to say hello before we continue our walk?”
Pelna glanced between his drink, Lunafreya’s eyes, and his coworkers’ slack-jawed expressions in a matter of seconds, and offered her another smile. “You know? I’d really like that, yeah.”
Before they exited the shop, Lunafreya made a point to greet Nyx and Crowe, her fingers reaching up to delicately touch the pin in her hair, and Pelna could have sworn he saw Crowe’s soul leave her body for approximately three seconds.
———
“I’m borrowing him,” Nyx declared in the back room at the end of their shift.
“You can’t borrow him,” Crowe protested, free of her apron and halfway into her trusty leather jacket. Nyx remembered she’d had the damn thing ever since she settled up on his couch with the remains of her first ever paycheck. How long ago had that been again? “He’s my best friend! I took him under my wing!”
“Fourteen years together, and you have the gall to have a best friend who isn’t me or Libs.” Nyx clutched his chest in mock offense, then drew himself to half-height against a nearby shelf. “And really? You took him under your wing. Is that what you call what happened in the walk-in fridge?”
He didn’t think he’d ever seen Crowe whip her head around and grab him by the front of his shirt so fast. Maybe street smarts did that to a person. “That was one. Fucking. Time,” she said through clenched teeth, in a voice that intimidated even him. “And it was two years ago. Let it go, Nyx.”
He wasn’t exactly stunned into silence as she shrugged on the rest of her jacket, but there was something pointed about the way neither of them spoke.
“Anyway,” she said, fluffing out her hair over a slightly-worn infinity scarf, “you can’t have him. Get your own wingman. I’m sure Libertus still owes you a few favors.”
“C’mon, Little Bird. You really think I keep tabs on what we owe each other?”
“He does.”
“He would.” Nyx rolled his eyes. Fourteen years of this bullshit. “You realize this is hardly fair. You’ve got someone who’s practically immune to her, and for all we know, he could turn us on our heads and become Rival Number Two. He got her number today, for Christ’s sake.”
“He got her number to walk her dogs, genius, not to take her on a date.” Crowe folded her arms, one leg crossed over the other as she leaned against the doorway, like he was the only thing between her and freedom. (To be fair, he probably was. Not that he cared in the moment. He was a man on a mission, and she knew how he got.) “You’re overthinking this.”
Nyx grinned, scratching at the stubble along his jaw and finally making a grab for his coat. “You mean the way you were overthinking how she touched her hairpin today?”
Crowe’s eyes narrowed, but only for a moment, before a self-assured little smile crossed her face. “First of all, it was a graduation gift, and secondly, you’re missing the entire point. I can give him something in return.”
“What’s that?” Nyx asked. “Another tryst? A heart-to-heart over a pint of ice cream?”
Crowe’s smile grew almost deviously, and she turned on her heel. “Pelna likes a girl.”

“Excuse me. Thank you.” Charlie got out, looked back at the two women, and gave a deep bow before walking off. “Your Highness—” Arianna watched as the soldier’s stormy blue-gray eyes widened in surprise as he took in her form next to the Oracle. “—And Your Majesty.” The man cleared his throat as he got behind the wheel, causing the sisters to cast each other a grin that held back their amusement.
“You always seem to surprise people, Anna,” teased Lunafreya.
In which Arianna, the Queen of Tenebrae and Commander for the Imperial army stuns the likes of a Glaive by riding with her beloved sister who just happens to be the Oracle. A storm is brewing, and nothing is set in stone like the Astrals wish the mortals would think.

Yo, big Cor fan, can‘t tell you why, it just happened. Definitely play the Gladio DLC if you want a liiiiittle bit more canon content. The kingsglaive movie doesn’t portray him (it does however introduce you to Nyx who‘s often shipped with him. And Drautos too.).
If it‘s more less-canon stuff you seek however 👀 there is a fan-theory that Cor was the one who stole baby Prompto from the Niflheim MT-Factory which spawned a bunch of fanfiction about the man being a struggling dad. I mean he‘s perfect for that trope, it‘s what got me interested in him. The no.1 fanfiction you should be reading if that interests you is Poor Wayfaring Stranger by lithos_saeculum on AO3 (Note that I’m biased because I am obsessed with it, and also it‘s very long.)
My understanding of him evolved into this aged like fine wine, ADHD burnout that really needs some goddamn rest but everyone keeps him on his toes and his workaholic personality can‘t say no to a new problem. I’ve seen him portrayed as very chill, very deadpan, laconic and based and that’s all I love in a character. Dude‘s just so done, very relatable. My favorite genre of people writing Cor is him being very no-bullshit but at the same time he’s constantly forced to deal with the weirdest, funniest behaviour and happenings from the people around him who don‘t care that he would like to just be a normal marshal who does normal marshal stuff. They call him Cor the Immortal and he hates it.
Also another staple of his is feeling guilty for stuff he couldn‘t have stopped anyway. That‘s canon.
I‘ve also seen a lot of good younger Cor content, because it‘s basically canon that he was a huge, self-endangering little shit that thought he‘s unbeatable to the point of challenging anything and being a massive brat about it. A real punk. Didn‘t give a shit about orders he found stupid. Still doesn‘t but wouldn‘t encourage it, probably.
I‘ve always loved a mentor character and while I admit he‘s not super special in the game (He is onscreen for… not a lot of time and he‘s really just a military dude) the fanwork is what turned him into a huge comfort character of mine.
Hello, Cor Leonis tag followers. I’m wondering if some of you might feel like enlightening me with some Cor propaganda.
See, I played FFXV when it came out and didn’t play the rest of the DLC/updates and didn’t watch Kingsglaive. As a result… I feel like I barely know this character. But I want to know him!! I can see that he has some dedicated fans, so I’d love to hear about what makes you love him.
I’d especially like to know more about his personality. How would you describe him? What are some of the most obscure things you know about him? Are there any scenes you find really good or important? Tell me your wisdom.
#Also I think he looks hot#It‘s like this video of the dude pointing at the screen saying: This is your man#And I‘m standing there like: yeeeees#cor leonis#ffxv

A Kingsglaive Time Loop AU, Part 1
Nyx Ulric wakes up, the memories of a burning city, of betrayal and loss, fresh in his mind. It is not the first time that he wakes this way, and it won't be the last.
Or: Nyx has a very, very bad time.
Now with a Part 2!
Nyx gasped awake, the scent of ash and burning flesh, and the sound of war and ruin still fresh in his mind, a burning ember of phantom pain deep in his chest. He lay there, eyes quickly taking stock of the room he was in, a room that was so familiar to his senses, a room that he could have sworn should have been reduced to so much broken rubble, like the rest of Insomnia. He could see the fading curtains, the walls that were slightly cracked, the photos of his family and friends. By all appearances, this was the same damn apartment he’d lived in for nearly the past decade, down to even that one corner where it would always leak when it rained. Off to the side, he could see his phone, the date and day clearly marked upon it. The day that the ceasefire, and the peace treaty, had been declared.
He slowly ran his fingers over the worn fabric beneath him, the soft texture slowly easing the rapid pace of his heartbeat. He finally managed to drag himself into a sitting position, and lifted his left arm into the thin strip of sunlight that managed to peek through the curtains. There was no sign of the magical scarring that had crawled up his arm like wildfire, when he had put on that damn ring. His arm moved freely, none of the pain he still remembered slowing him down.
With a groan, he stumbled to his feet, shaking his head as he tried to dispel the…dream, it had to have been a dream, one born from that crippling loss that had nearly seen him lose Libertus, alongside the other fellow brothers and sisters in the Kingsglaive. There was no way everything had been real, even if there were elements of reality to it, such as that damnable giant daemon that had nearly been the cause of Libertus’ death. Now that he thought about it, really thought about it, away from the panic and adrenaline of oh shit everything is going to hell and the King is dead and so was-
Yeah, there was no fucking way any of that was real. It had felt real, sure, but Nyx was pretty damn sure that rationally, there was no way the King would have deigned to give him of all people the all-powerful ancestral ring that held together the shield over the city, and much more to boot. After all, didn’t the King still have people like Marshal Leonis, who definitely had the proper skills and strengths to guard something as important as that? Not some random Glaive who was in the process of serving out yet another punishment for insubordination.
Feeling almost like he was a ghost in his own body, Nyx decided the logical thing to do was to find Libertus and Crowe, his two best friends. Not just because he wanted to make sure they were fine, of course, but also-
Oh, who was he kidding, the dream – and yes, it was absolutely a dream, Nyx affirmed to himself – had in fact rattled him enough that he wanted to hug those two for at least an hour.
As he stumbled out of his apartment, blinking at the sunlight above him, he tried to remember where he was meant to be going, where he would be able to find Libertus and Crowe at…around midday, now that he checked his phone. His phone buzzed then, from where he had haphazardly crammed it into his uniform pocket. Taking it out, he smiled slightly at the message, which turned out to be from Libertus, and handily reminded him that they were meeting up in one of the training grounds.
Nyx tucked the phone away, and decidedly pushed aside the little part of himself that quietly reminded him that this was exactly how things had played out, in the dream. He still had to hold himself back from desperately clinging to Crowe and Libertus like his life depended on it, when he finally met up with them, though he did still give them both a slightly calmer hug, to their surprise.
That dream was just a combination of recent trauma, his own over-active imagination, and also probably more trauma.
Right?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thirty minutes later, he was watching the news report about the coming Peace Treaty with Niflheim, the other Kingsglaive around him murmuring in discontent. As Commander Drautos -and how could he be a traitor, how could any of them be traitors- debriefed them, Nyx found himself having to hide his hands in the pockets of his uniform, the phantom urge to reach out and just end the man keeping him on edge the whole time, to the point that he almost missed Crowe being called away for a separate assignment.
Two days after he had woken up from that terrible dream, he watched as Libertus stormed away, the death-glazed eyes of Crowe staring up at him from inside the bodybag.
And on the 16th of May, four days after that dream, everything fell apart.
Nyx screamed wordlessly as he watched King Regis die at Glauca’s hands, the scene identical to the one he had dreamt, as Lunafreya spoke words that almost fell on horror-deaf ears, that only registered because he could almost speak them word for word himself.
He stumbled as the King’s magic disappeared, only kept upright by the fact that he already knew, somehow, what it felt like to lose that connection, the steel-spark buzz of power fleeing from where it had lain within him.
He received Drautos’ call almost in a fugue, his words echoing those from his dream. And it was only the memory of that dream that meant that the bullet from that traitorous bastard Lazarus only went through his arm, instead of through his shoulder, though the shock of it still had him on the ground. He mouthed the words Lazarus spoke, as he gloated, as he was goaded by Lunafreya into putting on that ring.
Libertus ramming into Drautos- no, Glauca, with the car, nearly made Nyx laugh out loud, it was so ridiculously accurate it felt like it was scripted. And when he faced the old Kings of Lucis, in that otherworldly time, it was only the faintest sense that he needed to save Libertus and Lunafreya, no matter what, that stopped him from cackling hysterically in the face of those reticent ghosts.
Nyx died with burning scars tracing up his left arm, with the rising sun in his eyes and the ruins of a dead city behind him.
And then he gasped awake, the scent of ash and burning flesh, and the sound of war and ruin still fresh in his mind, a burning ember of phantom pain deep in his chest.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All in all, Nyx thought it was perfectly justified that he missed the treaty announcement, and the subsequent debriefing, curled up in bed for the past hour as he realised, truly, that this wasn’t all just a horrible dream. That he was indeed reliving the same five days, the five days that would culminate in the fall of Insomnia, the deaths of almost everyone he’d cared for, and his own death at the very end of it all.
The ringing of his phone had eventually stopped, if only because he’d thrown it haphazardly off to another end of the room, and probably broken it in the process. With that in mind, he absently gave himself another twenty or so minutes before Libertus or Crowe, or both of them, broke into his room demanding if he was alright.
Oh shit, Crowe.
He dragged himself off his bed, and stumbled over to his sink, as the image of Crowe’s corpse rose unbidden at the thought. He stood there, hunched over the sink, as he desperately tried to bring some semblance of rational thought back.
He just. Needed to make sure Crowe wouldn’t go on that damned set-up of a mission, the one that would have Luche -that fucking traitorous bastard- killing her for- For what, exactly? Luche had only talked about what Niflheim had promised him and the other traitors, after he had revealed what he had done.
Alright, then. Nyx nodded to himself, taking a moment to wash away the acrid taste of bile. Crowe first, everything else can wait.
He had four days, or three, if he discounted this one, before Niflheim would attack during that farce of a treaty ceremony. Four days to figure out how to avert disaster.
Nyx briefly entertained the thought of just, grabbing Crowe and Libertus, and heading for literally anywhere other than Insomnia, before roughly brushing it aside. No, he had a second, well, third chance, somehow. A chance to make things better, to make it so that no one (except those who really, really deserved it) had to die, so that the Empire wouldn’t be able to run rampant with their magitek armies and tamed daemons. And what sort of hero would he be, if he just ran away from that chance?
A sharp knock on his door, and the sound of it being flung open, had him spinning around in surprise, stumbling back into the counter in barely-concealed panic, before he registered that 1) it wasn’t a magitek trooper or some other sort of attacker 2) it was Libertus and 3) Crowe wasn’t with him.
Somehow, he had forgotten that Libertus had his apartment’s spare key.
“Oh shit, Nyx!” Libertus crossed the room with surprising speed for someone on crutches, eyeing how Nyx was practically trying to meld with the countertop. “When you didn’t pick up the phone-“
Libertus broke off with a yelp as Nyx grabbed him, half in a hug, half so that he could drag him in closer.
“Lib. Where is Crowe?”
“She’s off at some confidential briefing with the Commander, Nyx, are you alright?” Libertus managed to extract himself from Nyx’s grasp, giving him a once-over with a critical gaze. “You look- you look like shit, Nyx. And you weren’t at training. Do I need to get you to a doctor?”
“N-no. I’m…fine.” Nyx slowly inhaled, then exhaled, before trying to make himself look a little less like he’d just had a breakdown for the past hour and then some. “I am definitely fine. But I need to see Crowe.”
“Nyx, I’m sure it can wait.” Libertus sighed, filling a glass with water and passing it to Nyx, gesturing for him to drink it. “Me and Crowe covered for you during the briefing you missed saying you came down with something, though Commander does want a confirm on that. Though, man, you actually look terrible.”
“Just…had a bad dream, that’s all.” Nyx admitted.
Libertus raised an eyebrow, before shaking his head.
“You know that you can tell us anything, right? Anything that’s troubling you.”
“I…”
Nyx considered telling Libertus everything. Telling him about Crowe’s death, about the Glaives turning traitor, of Commander Drautos being that hated General Glauca, of the city burning under an Imperial onslaught, of the Old Wall and the old Kings. Of how Nyx had died.
But would Libertus even believe him? Nyx barely could believe it himself, and he’d lived it. Twice.
Libertus was one of his best friends, his brother in all but blood. But even so, he was fairly certain that Lib was probably going to check him into a hospital, at least initially, and he couldn’t afford to spend time trying to assure him of his sanity when he only had four and a half days.
“I’m fine, Lib. Really. Just had a bad dream, about Galahd.” Nyx paused, before he added. “And that giant daemon.”
“Oh.”
“Now, please, I need to meet up with Crowe.”
“She should be out of that meeting by now, I told her to meet up with us here, after I checked on you.”
Almost as if on cue, Crowe burst into the unlocked room.
“Oh good, you’re alive.” Crowe said, looking at Nyx and Libertus. “Wow, you really do look out of it.”
“Crowe!” Nyx swept her up in a hug, trying not to tear up.
“Hey, hey, Nyx. You good?” Crowe asked.
“You’re alive.” Nyx breathed, clutching her harder. “You’re alive.”
“I…am?” Crowe looked over at Libertus in confusion. Libertus shrugged, mouthing ‘Bad dream’ at her. Nyx instinctively lifted his middle finger at him, having caught the action even as he swallowed back his tears. “Look, Nyx, I’m fine, alright? Now, sit down, and let us catch you up to speed. Some shit’s gone down.”
“Yeah. Yeah, you are.” Nyx nodded, slowly moving to sit down. Libertus and Crowe both perched themselves nearby, Libertus taking the other seat, whilst Crowe leaned against the counter, wrinkling her nose at the mess in his sink.
“So…what’s happened?” Nyx asked, though he knew what it was they were going to tell him. But…well, he couldn’t just tell them how he knew that anyways, might as well give himself plausible deniability for some of his foreknowledge.
“Niflheim wants a peace treaty, at the cost of all other regions of Lucis besides Insomnia. And the King accepted it.” Libertus spat.
“There’s…not many in the Kingsglaive are happy about things at all. The general sentiment is that the King’s throwing away our homes.” Crowe continued. “On that note, the Commander’s given me a mission to recover the Princess Lunafreya from Tenebrae, I’m leaving first thing tomorrow.”
“No.”
Libertus and Crowe both turned to stare at Nyx, who was clutching the glass of water in his hands like a lifeline as he spoke.
“What-“
“You can’t. Crowe, please,” Nyx looked up at her, trying to convey the importance of his words, the desperation behind them. “Don’t go on that mission.”
“Nyx, I have to-“
“I don’t want to lose you, Crowe.” I don’t want to lose you again.
“Look, Nyx, you know I can handle myself.” Crowe patted his shoulder comfortingly. “Don’t let some bad dream get you all worked up, what did you dream of, me dying?”
Nyx dropped the glass, sending shards scattering across his floor. Distantly, he heard Libertus cursing, and Crowe…saying something, something that he probably imagined was supposed to be soothing, but couldn’t hear over the rising static as he remembered Crowe’s death, Libertus’ fury, Luche’s smug shitty face, Drautos half covered in that cursed armour-
Eventually, things slowly came back into focus, and he blinked as he looked up at Crowe and Libertus’ slightly relieved expressions. His neck ached, and it was only then that he realised that somehow, he’d gone from sitting in one of the terrible bargain chairs he had in his flat, to being on the floor, back pressed to one of the walls.
“You back with us, hero?” Libertus asked softly.
“Y-yeah.” Nyx croaked out, tilting his neck back and forth for a bit in an attempt to ease the soreness. “Sorry.”
“No, no, don’t be. Guess I must’ve accidentally hit the nail right on its head, then.” Crowe said, crouching down and slowly extending her hand. “Now, let me help you up.”
Nyx nodded, getting his breathing under some semblance of control, and he briefly closed his eyes, waiting until he felt calm enough to actually move.
He let Crowe hoist him to his feet, and went in for another hug, this time getting both her and Libertus in it. They gradually relocated to sit on his bed, Nyx practically wrapped around his two siblings-in-all-but-blood.
“You died, Crowe. You died and there was nothing I could do to stop it.” Nyx sobbed; the words slightly garbled considering his face was mashed into Libertus’ shoulder. “A-and Libertus left, and then everything just, went to hell and then some, the city was attacked-“
He broke off, unable to put the rest of what he’d seen and lived into words.
“Look, hero, you know what I’m capable of, right?” Crowe said reassuringly, after a silent minute, slowly carding her fingers through his hair. “Whatever it was that your subconsciousness cooked up, it won’t happen, alright?”
“It-“ Nyx choked up, the words he desperately wanted to say lodged in his throat.
“I’ve called you in as sick, so the Commander won’t be all up our collective asses when you don’t show up for duty for the rest of the day.” Libertus said, patting Nyx on the shoulder. Nyx felt like he should be flinching from that, even though he knew that there wasn’t any kingly power burning its way through his body. Yet. “Come on, you should get some rest. Proper rest, after I get you something to eat. I’ll be here, though Crowe needs to go prepare for that mission of hers. We can see her off in the morning.”
The meal that Libertus cooked up an hour later tasted like ash in his mouth, and as Nyx was herded to bed, he couldn’t help but think that he had failed, once again. But he couldn’t go after Crowe, not now, not when Libertus was already keeping a cautious eye on him, not when all they knew was that he just had a panic attack, and a dream terrible enough to spark it.
And on top of all that, he had no idea what to do now, not when he knew that Libertus and Crowe probably wouldn’t believe him at this point, not when he’d made everything out to be just a bad dream. He’d had some sort of grand plan, to convince Crowe to not go on that mission, in the hope that it’d derail at least part of the Empire’s plan, derail it enough to give him time to figure out how the hell else he’d be putting a spanner into the rest of their planned invasion.
That plan, at least for now, was in utter shambles.
Now that he thought about it, actually thought about it, there were so many things that would eventually lead to the fall of Insomnia.
Crowe’s death, which would fracture the Kingsglaive even further than what the initial ceasefire announcement had done.
Lunafreya’s arrival, and subsequent kidnapping, which would be the bait that would draw the loyal Kingsglaive to their doom at the hands of the traitors, and signal the initial attack on Insomnia.
The theft of the Crystal and the fall of the Wall, which, he still didn’t know exactly how that had even happened.
The whole mess with the – rebels? Faction? – that Libertus had joined the other two times, the ones who had bombed the signing ceremony.
The death of King Regis, which would inevitably ruin much of their chances to stop the invasion, because it would mean that no one would have their borrowed magic anymore to help them against the forces of Niflheim.
How to deal with those giant daemon weapons withoutbringing forth the Old Wall, an act that would cause a decent amount of destruction in itself.
And General Glauca, that traitorous Commander of the Kingsglaive who was, Nyx admitted, quite possibly the greatest threat to everything he held dear at this point.
He could deal with rescuing the Princess, having done it twice already. Could probably even deal with the traitorous Glaives, hell, he knew at least Luche and Tredd were in on it, and if he took those two out then the others would lose a good part of their leadership.
But how in hell was he going deal with everything else? Nyx wondered, not a little desperate, as exhaustion finally set in, and he fell unwillingly into a fitful sleep.
He woke again, sometime in the evening, eyes tracing the cracks along his ceiling as he tried to parse his racing thoughts. There was just so much to do, so much he had to stop or fix before the Empire burned the city to the ground.
Well, he eventually thought, a little sardonically, I could always just knock Luche out now, and maybe he won’t kill Crowe tomorrow.
He sat bolt upright at that thought, and tried not to fall out of the damn bed in his haste. He fumbled blindly for his boots, and looked around for something heavy enough to give someone a bad concussion. The frying pan hanging on the rack above the shitty little stove, still a bit damp after Libertus had washed it, looked like it would do nicely.
He couldn’t kill Luche yet, even if every bit of him really wanted to do so. It’d probably de-rail things to the point that his foreknowledge would be rendered completely useless, and he hadn’t yet come up with ideas on how to deal with the next few days to make that murder as feasible as he wanted.
But he could just. Make sure that Luche wouldn’t be able to kill Crowe, or at least he’d be able to give Crowe a better chance at surviving the ambush, if he couldn’t convince her not to go in the morning.
Nodding to himself, he opened his door, preparing to march down the hallway and bait Luche into sticking his head out so he could bash it in with roughly three kilograms of steel. Fortunately, no one appeared to be outside of their own flats, though considering it was late in the evening by now, that was unsurprising.
He knew Luche had a habit of sleeping early if he had the opportunity to do so, so Nyx was fairly certain that if he knocked on the man’s door now, Luche shouldn’t be aware enough to register it was Nyx holding the frying pan before it hit him.
Sure enough, Luche opened his door with bleary eyes, and Nyx had a moment of vicious satisfaction watching the man crumple to the ground with a single hit of the pan. Now that Luche was unconscious, and not dead (there was a pulse, Nyx had checked), all that was left to do was shove him somewhere in his own apartment and hopefully have him out of commission for the next day at least.
“Uh, Nyx?”
Nyx looked up from where he was dragging the surprisingly heavy Luche the rest of the way into the apartment. Libertus was standing there, one crutch held limply in his hand.
“This…isn’t what it looks like, Lib.” Nyx winced, as Libertus looked incredulously at where Nyx was holding onto Luche’s limp arm.
“Is it?!” Libertus’ voice somehow reached another octave, as he cautiously approached Nyx.
“Look, this is going to sound incredibly crazy, but would you believe me if I told you that Luche is a traitor and he’s going to try to kill us all, except for the fact that I just knocked him unconscious.”
Libertus’ expression told him that no, Libertus didn’t believe him, and also that Nyx was…probably in some deep shit now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nyx awoke, for the fourth time, in his bed, in his flat, a burning ember of phantom pain deep in his chest, clutching at where the piece of the collapsing hospital ceiling had stabbed right through him.
Well, he thought, somewhat hysterically, that could’ve gone better. Much better.

Hey! I was wondering if you could do a headcanon of the chocobros, Nyx, and cor having an s/o who was in an abusive relationship and flinches when they get angry or move to fast. Love your stores so much btw
Aww thank you so much! I hope ya don’t mind that I’m just doing Nyx and Cor! Someone actually did something similar to this w/ the Chocobros but I’m glad I’m doing this with the most underrated bois!
#NyxandCordeservemorelove!
Alright here we go!
Tw: mentions of Past Abuse. I don’t go into deep detail but If ya think you can’t handle it. I understand.
Nyx
• “Who the hell was that guy?” Nyx Rosed up. Nyx isn’t normally one to be jealous but. But he’s been really feeling it lately. He doesn’t really know why.
• “I was just- I was just-“ Y/N was stuttering. Nyx slowly getting upset was starting to trigger horrible memories with a certain Ex.
• Than Y/N started tearing up. Nyx was upset and it was there fault.
• Nyx was taken back. He did mean to make them cry!
• “Y/N! I’m sorry!” It was then Nyx realized he messed up. He let his jealousy get the best of him. What the heck is wrong with him?
• Nyx then cradled Y/N. He hurt the person who helped him when he was down. Now, he had to help them.
• “Y/N...I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to get angry. I-I know you wouldn’t cheat on me.”
• “I-I know.”
• Nyx knew he had to make it right to them.
• Nyx planned a weekend getaway with Y/N.
• Y/N also explained why they got teared up.
• Y/N’s Ex would get Angry if Y/N was out of there site after five minutes...literally.
• And worse...Y/N’s Ex would even beat them.
• Nyx was heartbroken.
• Nyx promised to do better. Y/N was happy to have Nyx.
• he’s understanding, Kind, and willing to make up for there mistakes.
• he isn’t perfect but to them...he is perfect.
Cor
• Despite his hard exterior, he actually has a big heart.
• Especially towards his S/O.
• But he’s also...Overprotective
• but he has his reasons
• the first time he met his S/O, he saved them from there terrible Ex.
• and he’s lost a lot of people in his and losing his S/O? Well it might literally kill him.
• But it makes him very overprotective of S/O and she feels really cornered.
• They can fight very well on there own but it doesn’t do much to calm Cor’s anxiety.
• he wants them safe!
• His S/O has to sneak out, so they can hunt, train and for gods sake, get away from Cor!
• They love him but it’s a bit much.
• Y/N starts to feel like they can’t go anywhere.
• reminds them of there Ex who wanted to know everywhere and what there doing at every damn minute.
• But the difference is that, There Ex did this to control them while Cor doesn’t want anything to happen to them.
• But one day Cor catch’s Them sneaking out and they get into a fight.
• “Why are you sneaking out?!” Cor shouted.
• “Cmon Cor. I need to get stronger and your suffocating me.” At this point, Y/N has had enough and runs out of the door. completely fed up.
• Cor, worried about Y/N, follows suit.
• For awhile, Y/N is able to train peacefully until Cor runs up to Y/N.
• Unfortunately, it triggers Y/N cause it reminds them of there Ex, who chased Y/N back to there onced shared home.
• Cor is shocked by his S/O’s sudden break down.
• Then he remembers how his S/O was chased by there Ex and dragged back to there home.
• Cor realized that he messed up.
• He needs to let go.
• he apologizes to his S/O and steps back and let them get Train.
• he even battled against them and lost.
• Normally he isn’t happy about losing (especially to Gladio) but Seeing S/O battle and getting stronger, makes him smile.
• “Babe, was that a smile I see?”
• He even blushed ☺️
• His S/O has gotten so Strong, that there able to join Cor and his colleagues.
• He’s so happy for Y/N.
• Still tho, he feels bad about what happened.
• so he plans a “getaway” with his S/O. If you catch my drift 😏
I hoped ya like it 💙 I tried my best to talk about this sensitively as possible. If I made a mistake, please let me know!
I’m also sorry, if Nyx is a bit short. I’ll admit, I haven’t seen Kingsglaive. So I don’t know much about him, other than some movie clips. (But he’s freaking hot, holy crap)

Galahdian Dreams - 15 (Nyx Ulric/Reader)
Synopsis: Your father was the king of Insomnia. He was good and just. You never thought you’d meet anyone like him after he was taken from the world. Your Uncle Regis, has taken the throne and followed through on your father’s plans. It was good to see the city in capable hands.
Enter Nyx Ulric, refugee, Glaive, fighter…how is it he can see all your secrets? He knows how to set you off and he’s promised to not let you go…(AU for sure, Regis wasn’t supposed to take the throne, and our lovely Nyx has more of a past then we thought…)
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Six Part Seven Part Eight Part Nine Part Ten Part Eleven Part Twelve Part Thirteen Part Fourteen
** Warning there is a Character Death in this chapter**
You pen scratched against the paper as you finished pushing through reports and request from the out-laying towns to the west. You happy to say there were less this week then the weeks prior, it meant something was changing…
You stopped looking out the small window in your office. It wasn’t enough change though…Three weeks had passed since you’d spoke to the council. Help had been sent a week later, yet no one returned.
The reports were mixed messaged. Some said they needed everyone there…others said the assistance was crucial…none said anything about casualties.
You took a deep breath in through your nose before turning back to the work. You still cried…you couldn’t help it after a while. You felt split in two, especially since your last few hours with Nyx.
You were pretty sure you knew what he was going to say that day. You reached up playing with the bead around your neck again. You’d been thinking about it a lot actually and how you wanted to respond…then you’d start feeling guilty cause you were dreaming when he was fighting.
You let out frustrated sigh setting the pen down running a hand over your face. You’d been working since early morning, perhaps it was time for a break.
You walked out locking the door behind you taking in a deep breath as the realization once again settled on you that you were helping your uncle run the country. How strange…you’d accomplished a lot in such a short time.
“There you are…” You cringed hearing the snobbish voice approaching behind you, “I didn’t realize I’d be chasing you down everywhere.”
“Prince Ravus…” You turned looking at him as your jaw clenched noticing he was no longer in his mourning colors. He’d been here for a month with Luna as guest during the occupation of Tenebrae and insisted on hounding you for an audience, “Do you need something?”
“I was hoping to spend the day with you. I have it all planned out. You should go change into to something less suffocating.” Ravus smirked at you as he reached out to take hold of your chin.
You didn’t give him a chance to touch you moving around him, “Your grace, I’m too busy to play your games. Perhaps you can call ahead next time and see if I’m available…”
You felt him try to grab your arm and instantly you became defensive, “Y/N, I demand…”
“Do not touch me!” You hissed at him as you tore your arm away from him finally feeling a breaking point. He always tried to touch without your permission. It was always possessive and demeaning, “We are not friends. We are not companions, and I will not be handled like-like a toy to be played with.”
“Why are you being like this? I’m only trying to help you!” His voice rose as he stepped toward you once again.
“Help me?” You stared up at him as your fist balled up, your voice low in a hushed tone, “You have never once tried to help me…you only want me because of what it will do for your status. Poor little Ravus…just a prince…not an oracle, not the heir to the throne…”
What happened next wasn’t so surprising, though it hurt none the less and the stars you were seeing made you dizzy. However, your delight out-weighed the sting in your check as you lifted your head seeing your cousin throwing Ravus up against the wall the shimmers of his warp disappearing behind him, “Touch my cousin again and see what happens?”
“Noct…” You resisted reaching up to touch your cheek. You didn’t want to give Ravus the satisfaction knowing you were in pain, “he’s not worth it.”
You heard running approaching as the trio caught up to their prince. Noctis stared at Ravus a moment longer before letting him go. Ravus readjusted himself as the others came to a halt, “Someone will hear about this…”
“Funny…I think it will backfire on you.” Noct glared at him, “Evidence points that you’re in the wrong here…”
“You weren’t here…you don’t know what was said…” Ravus threatened glancing over to you, “And you’re to proud to see unrest fall within these walls…”
You stared at him shaking your head before you spoke, “Ravus, I have complete authority of who may stay with in these walls. I asked Luna here, only if she felt comfortable leaving her country…I only have to be friends with Luna to ensure things continue between our country…do you see where you lay on the list of important people I care about? If you don’t, let me point it out to you. It’s exceedingly lower then Niflheim soldiers at the moment…”
Ravus growled and took a step toward you, “You need to learn your place in the world…”
The trio and Noct stepped between him and you, glaring daggers at him. You took a deep breath in, “I know my place Ravus…It’s time you learned yours. Now your welcome to stay here as long as you respect everyone and follow our laws. Is that understood?”
Gladio glared at him before he spoke, “Hey, she asked you a question?”
Ravus snarled before walking away. Noctis made a move to stop him but you caught him just in time shaking your head watching him walk away, “Thank you for that…it could’ve been much worse.”
“I wish you would let me teach him a lesson.” Noctis reached up looking at your face frowning as you winced away, “Come on…we need to get someone to look at that.”
“I’ll be alright…some ice and make up does wonders…” You told him forcing a smile before looking at them all, “What are you all doing here?”
“We came to visit you.” Ignis smiled a little despite the worry in his eyes. He held a basket up full of goodies, “We thought you might need a break.”
You looked at all of them feeling touched, “And I think I know the perfect spot to go…”
A couple hours later and a good lunch in your stomach, you smiled listening to Prompto as he took pictures from the crystal room’s balcony, “This is such an amazing view! You can practically see the whole city!”
“Don’t get to close to the edge…” Ignis chided a little before beginning to walk over to him.
“Stop moving…” Gladio growled at you.
“I don’t need help!” You snapped at him swiping the bag of ice he went and found, “You’re supposed to be pestering Noctis not me…”
“Yeah…well…old habits die hard.” He sighed sitting back on his feet looking over to Noctis and Prompto posing for a selfie, “Believe it or not…I miss you.”
“You do?” You looked surprised as you placed the ice against your cheek.
“Yeah…I didn’t have to worry about fan girls and the public so much.” He smirked at you before it turned into a sincere smile, “But really I just miss my friend.”
“Oh…” You reached over squeezing his arm. You had been neglecting everyone lately. You’d have to change that, “I’m always around if you need me…”
“I know…but just like when you were going to be queen…you always have something planned and going on.” He chuckled, “Don’t get me wrong…I’m happy to see you working again. You’re doing a great job.”
“Thank you…I’m actually hoping to get your help aga-” You stopped as you heard your name being called from the entryway. You looked over seeing Drautos running in. Your heart nearly stopped as you let the ice drop from your hand.
This was a moment you had thought about over and over. It played out two ways…one…was happy, the other, heart wrenching. Either way you had to know the answer to question you were about to ask…
“What’s happened?” You asked him as he stopped in front of you.
He stared down into your eyes before he smiled, “He’s home…they’re all home…”
Your eyes widened as you took off running everyone calling after you as you stepped into the elevator. You pressed the floor you needed making the door shut before anyone else could join you. You leaned against the back of the elevator as tears just started pooling down your cheeks.
You watched the numbers and as soon as the door pinged you rushed out past two soldiers. The yelped as you pushed by, you called back, “Sorry!”
“I…ma’am?” They started following you worry in their eyes, “Is something wrong?”
“No!” You smiled back at them, “Not at all…have a good day!”
You laughed a little as they both stopped looking at each other confused before you ducked into the locker room Nyx had taken you to so long ago. You skidded over to his locker quickly undoing the lock before pulling out clothes you had stashed there after he left.
If Drautos knew you’d been sneaking out once or twice a week you’d be a dead woman for sure…after today your secret was probably done for. It didn’t matter though…you needed to see him. You pulled on Nyx’s ball cap after you zipped up your sweater before shoving your other clothes inside shutting the locker.
You slowly stepped out making sure the coast was clear before heading toward the gate. You could feel the giddiness rising in you the closer you got, but it was quickly dashed when you saw Drautos standing there waiting with a car.
He rolled his eyes as he shook his head opening the car door, “Ma’am…”
You sighed looking at him before you got in, “Can you blame me?”
“Without a doubt, one hundred percent. I would lose two jobs, if anything happens to you.” He told you as you settled into the seat, he shut the door going to the driver’s side, “But for the record…I am excited too…”
You smiled at him as he drove you to the Refugee quarter, it still needed a better name. You wanted to wait for Nyx’s input on the matter. Drautos instructed you to keep the hat on and to stay close to him when he parked.
As you stepped out you could see a large crowd gathering. You looked at Drautos, “Is this normal?”
“I don’t know…I imagine everyone is excited to see everyone?” He told you as you both moved toward the crowd. Everyone was whispering. You glanced at Drautos again seeing his face fall a little as he peered over the crowd, “Oh no…”
You heard a loud wail as everyone bowed their head. Your head snapped back feeling your gut wrench at the noise. You recognized it…you experienced it…loss… You swallowed down your emotions whispering to Drautos, “Who?”
He looked down at you struggling with a well of emotions himself, “…Pelna…”
You shut your eyes bowing your head as you put a hand over you mouth to try and stifle the cry. He’d been so welcoming to you. So, kind, and compassionate. He’d answered all your questions and encouraged you when you needed it.
And Nyx…oh god Nyx…he’d loved him like a brother. Always spoke of how his progress was going and how much he enjoyed seeing Pelna advance. He was going to be a mess…
“What can I do?” You looked at Drautos once you composed yourself, “There has to be something…it’s why no one is doing anything, right?”
“…he needs…a sky burial…” Drautos shut his eyes speaking quietly, “It’s difficult to get in and out of the city…and we can’t burn the body here.”
“Let me handle it…” You told him taking out your phone, “Just tell me when and I’ll get it done…”
“Ma’am…” He put his hand over yours getting your attention.
“I have to do something…Everyone in this city has a right to practice how they wish…this just one more difference. I bury my family in a giant tomb outside the city walls…why should it be hard for your people to practice your beliefs?” Your eyes watered before he nodded slowly allowing you to step away.
It took you several minutes, but you managed to get the west gate open. You walked back over but couldn’t see Drautos anywhere. You frowned as someone looked over to your eyes widening a little. They tapped the next person’s shoulder and it suddenly became a ripple effect as everyone parted to let you through.
This isn’t what you expected but everyone seemed to be urging you forward. When you came to the center you saw a casket in the back of a truck. You paused staring at it for a moment before you saw Nyx standing a few paces away holding onto an older woman as Drautos consoled the man beside her.
You stood there unsure of what to do. You felt like you were intruding…you felt like you had no place here. Your eyes flicked back over to the coffin as a tear fell down your cheek. You looked around seeing all the men and women who had just returned.
All of them looked beaten and weary. Yet, they still stood waiting to bid their comrade a proper farewell. Finally, Drautos saw you waving you over, “Ma’am…This is Mr. Kahara…”
You looked at him seeing where Pelna got his kind eyes. You teared up before taking his outstretched hand, “Sir…I am so sorry for your loss…”
He nodded before letting go of your hand. You could see the pain in his face as he struggled to speak, “Pelna…he always spoke of how kind you were. Then we all got to experience it here in the ward…he died fighting for the future you’re building for us…Please don’t let him down.”
You felt a heavy weight fall into your stomach as he moved to pull his wife from Nyx’s arms. You looked over to him as he let go. His face was blank as he turned to Drautos, “Where do we go?”
Drautos looked to you for the answer. You swallowed before you answered, “The west gate…I figured the cliffs you took me to…I’m sorry if…”
“That’ll be fine…” Nyx moved away from you as he crawled into the back of the truck with the casket putting a hand on it.
“Captain…” You whispered watching Nyx.
“He’ll be alright in time. He was close with Pelna…” Drautos put a hand on your shoulder, “Will you walk with us?”
“Of course…” You nodded as everyone proceeded to follow the truck. The walk was long, but every soldier followed behind it. You hung your head a little as you listened to them start to sing a song. A lament of some kind.
It spoke of traveling far away from home, never turning around, never making any plans. There would be a place at the end of the road where all would be good. Home was with you and good enough, for tomorrow was never guaranteed.
You cried…you cried hard and silently soaking in their pain. Knowing it all to well as Nyx sang those final words before lighting the body on fire with his hand, “This is not a farewell…just a goodbye…”
Drautos asked if you wanted to return with everyone at some point and you couldn’t pull yourself away. The song haunted you, and the way Nyx had just looked past you…you were worried. Drautos sighed understanding remaining with you as well.
Finally, when the embers began to fade away you watched Nyx reach in pouring a bit of the ash into a bag. Every soldier followed suit before turning and heading back to the city, until Nyx was left alone at the pyre.
Drautos stepped away from you walking up to him. They spoke quietly for a long time before they both turned walking back to you.
Nyx stared at you for a moment before he spoke, “I…”
You shook your head reaching out taking his hand in yours, “I’m so sorry…”
He sniffed as he struggled for a moment before he pulled you to him. He hugged you tightly as he started to shake in your arms…soon sobs followed as he buried his face into your neck. You shut your eyes letting your tears fall silently as you rubbed his back in soothing circles.
After some time, he pulled away looking down at you. His eyes were red and face puffy as he spoke, “Thank you…for being here…”
“Of course…” You nodded a little watching him taking in a deep breath, “I’ll do whatever I can.”
“Let’s get you home to rest.” Drautos put a hand on his shoulder as he started for the truck everyone left behind.
“Right…” Nyx whispered as he started to take a few steps before he began to collapse.
“Titus!’ You shouted catching him crumbling under his weight as you fell to the ground, “Nyx…Nyx! Open your eyes…Nyx please…”
“Please…please don’t leave me…”
Nyx’s eyes opened looking at an unfamiliar view. He was supposed to be in a tent…wait…no…that’s wrong…where was he? He sat up grunting a little bit as he threw his feet of the side of the bed he was in. He looked at his wrapped arm before feeling his ribs, also wrapped.
He knew he was hurt he, he just had better things to deal with then medical attention. He looked around seeing clean walls of a bedroom. He stood up slowly as the door opened letting Drautos inside. His mentor gave him a relieved smile, “Oh good…you can walk…”
“Where are we?” Nyx frowned a little.
“Your place.” Drautos told him with a small smile, “Wanted to give you the grand tour the right way, but…situation changed that…”
“M-my place?” Nyx stared at him as everything started to catch up to him, “Right…right…the construction…”
“Far from your mind, I know.” Drautos nodded before sighing, “Kinda like the three broken rips and fractured arm…”
“I had more important things to worry about.” Nyx glared at him a little watching him raise his hands surrendering.
“I know…all the same…you need your rest now.” Drautos told him sighing, “Though you should probably show Y/N, that you’re alright first…”
“She’s here?” Nyx felt a bit of panic fall over him.
“Yeah, she’s sleeping on your couch right now. She didn’t want to leave without knowing you were alright.” Drautos told him before nodding at him to follow.
Nyx carefully hobbled his way down the small hallway passing a kitchenette that led to a small living area. He leaned against the wall when he saw you curled up on the couch sleeping. He made a face finally seeing the bruise on your face, “What happened to her?”
Drautos took in a deep breath, “Apparently there was an altercation…I didn’t have time to press her or anyone for information. When she found out you were back, she rushed to see you…”
Nyx shook his head as he spoke quietly, “She shouldn’t worry about me.”
“But she does…and you’re lucky for it. Just be thankful…” Drautos told him as he moved to the front door, “I’ll be downstairs waiting for her in the car…take your time.”
Nyx waited for him to leave before he walked over taking a seat on the arm of the couch. He watched you for moment taking in deep restful breaths. You had tear stains on your face probably caused by him. He didn’t deserve you, yet here you were…and astrals above he was grateful.
Carefully he reached down pushing your hair behind your ear. In a fluid motion he gently traced your face coaxing you awake slowly. He smiled when your beautiful eyes opened looking up to him as he whispered, “Hi…”
“Hi…” You repeated back to him before reaching up catching his hand as you sat up. You placed it on your face leaning into his touch.
He choked up shaking his head, “I’m sorry…”
“No, Nyx…you don’t have to explain…” You interrupted him, “I can’t…even fathom…”
“You’re too understanding…” He moved off the arm sitting next to you letting his forehead rest against yours as his other hand came up to your face. He wished it wasn’t wrapped, he wanted to feel your skin when he touched you, “It’s okay to be mad at me…I am…”
“I’m not…I’m worried, but I’m not mad…” You shook your head staring into his eyes, “I just…just tell me what you need…”
He shut his eyes before he kissed your forehead pulling you into his chest. He tensed when you fell against his rips, but the pain subsided and he relaxed feeling you against him, “You…I just need you.”
“I can do that.” He could hear the smile in your voice. No doubt that it was small and worried.
He sat there with his eyes shut just feeling you pressed against him. He allowed the weight to push him far away from the thoughts he’d been thinking since packing up from the front. He knew he’d have to deal with them eventually, but for now he just wanted to just be with you.
He took in several breaths until his breathing began to match yours. Your rhythmic rising and falling washing over him like peace.
“Nyx?” He heard you speak quietly. He gave you a squeeze and a soft ‘hm’ to tell you he heard you, “…never mind…”
He cracked his eyes open seeing you staring up at him. It took him by surprise actually, most women just curled up in his embrace, but of course you weren’t most women, “What is it?”
“I’m…” You seemed to be a little bit hesitant to say what you wanted to say, “I’m…happy you’re here…”
He felt his nose tickle understanding then you were trying to be sensitive, “…thank you…I’m happy to…I’m happy to be near you…”
You frowned a little before nodding a little, “You should be laying down…you’re pretty banged up.”
“I am…laying down…sorta…” He smiled a little holding you tightly to make sure you didn’t move reaching up to your cheek frowning, “I’m more concerned about this honestly…”
You sighed leaning into his touch, “It was a misunderstanding between a guest at the Citadel…”
“I hope you responded in kind.” He felt his brow come together.
“Noctis did actually…followed up by his posse…and political threats.” You smirked a little, “Spoiled petty princes don’t scare me.”
“Hey, I resemble that remark…” He smiled as you chuckled a little.
“That’s a lie… You’re a spoiled petty king.” You smiled at him as you leaned up toward him.
His eyes shut as your lips met his. Damn…damn this felt good and it was just a kiss. His arms wrapped around your waist drawing you closer to him as he slipped his arms behind your legs. In one smooth motion he scooped you up laying you back against the couch as he parted looking down your face.
His eyes flicked down to the small chain you wore around your neck, the bead from his hair on it. His picked it up gently before he whispered, “You still have it…”
“Of course…it kept you near me…” You stared up into his eyes as smiling at him before reaching up taking his face in your hands whispering, “I missed you…so much…everyday was…”
He didn’t want to hear it. He lived it while he was away, dreaming of you night after night. Talking with Titus, asking after you…he missed you desperately. His lips locked with yours craving the same exhilaration he’d felt moments ago.
He found it letting his hands settle on your hips, slowly drifting them up. He felt you shiver as his thumbs grazed the skin under the sweater you were wearing. Your fingers laced into his hair tugging gently sending small electric sensations down the back of his neck.
You both froze as an obnoxious ringtone sounded off. He watched you reach into your pocket pulling out your phone as he licked his lips trying to calm down. Your face became serious as you started to sit up.
He helped you slightly as you answered, “Uncle?”
Nyx waited keeping quiet as your hand wiped over your face. You nodded slowly, “I understand…no…I will…attempt to provide him something to…”
You were cut off and your face looked shocked. Nyx felt every nerve in his body go on high alert as you stood up, “I will not…No I refuse…because he attacked me after…No. No! What I do with my time is just that…mine! I will not waste it on some insolent little prick who thinks he can get ahead by bedding me…”
“Fine, I’ll come see you now.” You spat out angrily , “I won’t be bullied…”
Nyx stood up as you listened to the other end. He knew who this ‘prick’ was now, and he didn’t like what he was hearing. Something would have to be done.
“You can’t…you can’t be serious…” You spoke quietly looking up to Nyx horrified, “I won’t do it.”
You listened for a moment longer before the call ended. Nyx frowned having a suspicion of what was going on, “I won’t let him take you from me…”
“Nyx…” You teared up as he pulled you into a tight hug, “why can’t we just be left alone?”
“Don’t worry…” He kissed your forehead as he rubbed your shoulders, “I’ll take care of it…”

Mine
*warning* Mini Lime at the end
"Hey Gladio!"
That annoying voice.
"I heard you and Y/N had a fight last night. See she cant stand you, sooner or later you two will broke up and Y/N will come to me."
That's Al-Cid, a narcisist glaive, yeah he has good skills and all and he wants to be the "Kings Shield", like he want Gladio out of the picture for everything..
Gladio growled and stormed to Al-Cid's face, and he was just watching Gladio angry face giving an annoying smirk in return..
"What's the matter? You gonna punch me? Go ahead. I dont know why a short tempered man like you got to be friends with the King, maybe the King is just terrified of you and would not get into your bad side. Isnt that right?" He announced at the halls catching the attention of many glaives.
"Hold on now Al, why dont we leave Mister Amicitia, we still have errands to do now..And besides, the king's father and his father are friends so their sons are friends as well.." one glaive said wants to break the tension and maybe get themselves out before Gladio explodes. Gladio is really furious now, his knuckles nearly turning white now and ready to unleash his powerful punch.
"Perhaps that's what Y/N feels as well, maybe you scared her to make her yours? People never tell anyone that they're scared dont they?" Al continued to flex and blabber about Gladio, in reality yes he is really a short tempered man but he is trying to control the anger. He really is trying, but people like Al really test him to the highest. He is really ready to punch this guy
"Prepare yourself my friend for Y/N will be mine tonight I assure you. I will shower her full of love while taking her ravishing body-
That's IT!
Al-Cid was sent flying now near the doors. Growling in pain while holding his face. "The fuck?!" All of the people of the hall was surprised not because shutting the noisy glaive up but the one who did it, and it wasnt Gladio.. It was you.
"Ok back to work guys pretend nothing happened!" You announced and the people did so. You rushed to Gladio's side, he looks relieved that's good.
"Gladio? Gladiolus? Talk to me." You said cupping his face, he held your hands but he's just not talking.
"Don't believe any word that he says, thats all a lie, Im here am I?" Trying to comfort him but he's still not talking back,he's just making a grumpy face. Oh no you dont like it when he's like this. You pulled his hand and left the hall, on your journey to his quarters, he's still not talking but you can hear him taking deep breaths and some "tsk" sounds and his grip on your hand is tighter than ever.
You two now are in his quarters, removing your hands from his grip but he didnt let it happened instead he held you in a bone crushing hug, burying his face in your neck inhaling your scent..
"You're not leaving me tonight right? You still love this short tempered man?" These words broke your heart, he let the words of the jerk get to him and now he's being insecure..
"No. Not tonight.. not ever. Remember that, I love this short tempered man.Everything I have is his, and everything he have is mine." You can hear him laugh at the statement while you're hugging him.
"I'm serious! Here, I'll show you" without breaking the hug you started to grab Gladio's big hands and placed them on your ass.
"What-
"This ass is his, he owns it, and he reclaims it every night when we're at it. It's also the same with every part of my body" he let her hand lead his to touch every part of her body and placed it again on her ass.
"He loves all of me, its just the favorite part is this ass.." She squeezed her grip on Gladio's hands to make him squeeze her bubbly ass and he gladly obliged, he truly worship your ass and now you're wearing a black tight pencil skirt that accentuates it really drives him crazy now.
You broke the hug and gave him the brightest smile that you have while his hands is busy caressing that ass. He kissed your forehead and looked straight in your beautiful eyes.
"I love all of you babe..You're the best. What am I going to do without you?" Gladio said while giving you kisses on your cheeks and neck.
"Without me? hmm? You'll never have a piece of this ass..C'mon let's go back." removing his hands from your ass, starting to leave, but Gladio had other plans.. He held your wrist quickly turning back to him and his hands went back to your ass he held it tighter.
"I'd like to have the whole package of this ass, thank you." Gladio said lifting you up and placing you carefully on the bed and ready to reclaim what is his and his alone.

RATING: SFW - Teen for themes of death and cursing WORDS: 2,676 NOTES: I am so happy to have gotten the opportunity to write for @ffxv-holiday-gift-exchange! I probably would’ve never thought to write this piece without @smgmcrznana‘s prompt (how funny is it that we got each other and out of all the prompts we gave each other, we both decided to write completely Crowe-centric pieces?! Please check out their piece about how the Glaive-trio met here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/13076862). I love these three to death and hope to write more for them in the future.
This isn’t really a happy fic by any means. I tried to explore the deep divide between Lucian and Galahdan culture through the treatment of Crowe post death and how this could’ve cause the hatred that festered into what we see in Libertus versus Nyx’s more quiet acceptance of her death in the film. At it’s core, it’s just really me wanting to give Crowe something more than what she got in the film (she deserved better, she deserved more). It’s my first genfic longer than 1k and although I don’t normally write this genre, this piece is really close to my heart, so I hope you guys enjoy it!

EXCERPT:
I shall walk with frost and fire and death and snow, My feet will want to walk to where you are sleeping, But I shall stay alive, because above all things You wanted me indomitable. - P. Neruda
The day of Crowe’s wake is suffocating in its ordinariness. The sky is startlingly blue and the sun hangs high above the bulbous clouds. A perfectly ordinary day if it were not the day Nyx was to stare Crowe dead in her face and apologize. Sorry I was a shitty friend, sorry I was a lousy big brother, sorry I wasn’t there, sorry it wasn’t me.
Sorry, sorry, sorry.
He wants to cry but the tears won't come.
It feels like déjà vu.
And suddenly, he’s no longer standing in a stuffy suit in unseasonably warm May weather. He’s back in Galahd and the sun is beating down his neck, cotton shirt completely soaked with perspiration. He’s a boy again. A boy of twenty and one, and he’s just killed his little sister.
