Eheh as the self-proclaimed lady maria scholar i am gonna have fun here

1- Why do you like or dislike this character?

I wont be shy to admit that literally the first thing that drew me to her character is that she was hot lol, but then i played the old hunters myself and started genuinely loving her as a character.

A big thing for me i guess is her whole presentation? From the patients crying for her to give them mercy to the doll face reveal to the thrown rakuyo. Its slow and gradual and permeates the entire latter half of the dlc and really impresses the character in your head lol.

Also i like that she isn't the token Good guy of the old hunters, but it's shown that she too Kinda Sucked, Really

2- Favorite canon thing about this character?

Her massive guilt complex and cowardice! And like unironically

Maria's whole character is defined by wanting to do better and leave "savage" systems behind only to end up enabling equally as bad if not worse ones and just deciding to leave when her hands are irremediably blooded, and without making a serious effort into changing things from inside

She feels guilty about being a cainhurst kinght? She goes to the hunters and byrgenwerth to help humanity ascend, also desecrating her (STILL FUNCTIONING) ancestors tombs

She ends up committing genocide? Well, she'll turn to the healing church to help ascension through less brutal means

Those means imply the brutal torture and abuse on the humans they experiment upon with few useful results? Can't take it anymore and kills herself

She is dead? Well. Now she is in torment nexus for having eviscerated a pregnant god and she will try to cover up her mistakes even if it means debasing herself again to cainhurst blood thecniques and enabling the suffering of innocent people who were also drawn into the nightmare.

Her life is a complete spiral. She is so frog-getting-boiled core, my beautiful princess with every mental disorder.

Also a favourite detail is that there is a grave with a lumenflower on it literally on the clif that faces kos' corpse. She did monstrous things, and was pretty horrible in life, but that doesnt mean she didn't care about whom she hurt. Its a very small, but powerful moment to me

3- Least favorite canon thing about this character?

There isn't really anything about her character herself that i specifically dislike, but i guess it is pretty blatant that she was a last addition/retconned into the lore, and was less thought as a separate character herself and more a last ditch attempt to explain the doll's true identity and compose the character together with the dead apprentice in the workshop.

I also really really wish they added more explicit weight to the narrative about her being a vileblood/cainhurst woman aside from excuse to use flashy blood-flame moves (i mean. I certainly have many headcanons regarding how that affected her relationship with great ones and ascension but those are headcanons and nothing confirmed)

Shadow (via communicator) : What a bunch of teenage scumbags, the weapons and meisters have been tools to Shotaro the Dokeshi all along, the Men of Shinra's influence had the nerves and his balls to keep the truth out of the public eye. I guess that Shinigami person was nothing more than a faker that I pressumed.

Silver (via communicator) : So...Not the brightest Idea of hiding a giant tree that was inside the planet just to be spreading the influence from Shinra Kusakabe, not the company from Final Fantasy VII! I don't know how to say this, Maka Albarn had felt like an idiot for being the under the influence to Shinra's will, just a puppet on a string. She must've wasted her own life to be the hero of a crazy manga story that was only made for money!

Knuckles (via communicator) : It's what money comes out of his pocket, that author of their world is such weird man and a complete idiot!

Tails (via communicator) : It's no wonder why the author had to go make up the lies for his own characters, just to be thrown out like garbage!

Sonic : Good thing that he made it safely to the bunker, looks like Luigi's gonna have to save Mario instead of Death the Kid.

Shotaro the Dokeshi : You knew that it was me all along! Of course I was the so-called God of Death. Yohei told me that so I would become part of the Shinigami Council. Easy enough for you to be fooled by one individual that is a kid. I'd still get all the glory and I even made fake-money from Shinra's son!

Eve : So you fooled Maka and everyone that easily because you wanted to become Shinigami so that you could get all the glory you wanted to become part of the Shinigami council. Guess what, Skull for brains? Botan, Ichigo, and Ryuk gave Seto this permission after Ichigo heard that Death was actually the man-made son of Shinra and realized that the school you created was about protecting humanity nor peace. It was created about bringing power and monopolization to all of humanity and bringing wars across the globe.

Shotaro the Dokeshi : So what? I said I was sorry! I didn't know that I was fooled by the likes of Shinra Kusakabe, his influence wanted to spread even further and then I got Ashley's people involved to thinking that they were the enemies that wrecked the earth clean with magic, and of course the heartless as well. Soon as I about to overthrow the Kasugatani Family tree and the heartless their selves, I will pay you all to the world!

Knights Hospitaller (7:5) v. The Puptisserie (8:6)

Waaaaaaaaarrrrr!! Get those juices flowing and those armies in and out the door. No sleep, no taking time off here. Get to work people! Puptisserie come out on top against the Knights Hospitaller. A bit of history here as well in the build up to this war. WAR DECLARED: June 13 of YR1 - War declared on 7:5 WAR WITHDRAWL: February 7 of YR2 - 7:5 withdrew from war

8:6 story in build up to war

Regarding the build up towards the war, we had been sitting in a WPA / science pump setup for about a week from the end of our first war of the age. At the time we were 2nd on the server in land, and after being waved by the #1 KD at the time, we felt that we had some breathing room to sit for a while and improve our provinces. That went pretty well for about 2 or 3 days, but eventually we ended up in a position where we had numerous KDs breathing down our neck and asking for war, while at the same time having the resources we needed to get ready for a war (build conversion and dragon gold, runes for rituals) stolen by smaller KDs. Things came to a head with 7:5 as they had been stealing a lot of GC off of our provinces. At the time they had been dealing with a wave from 8:7 so we assumed they wanted the GC to prepare for a war with 8:7. We asked them to stop stealing the GC and we wouldn't make their lives miserable by doubling up their troubles with 8:7, they subsequently CF'd with 8:7 and the stealing continued. We sent a couple of deterrence hits their way, they retalled the hits, continued the stealing, and ran the meter up so they were unfriendly with us. At that point 5:12 also began stealing and opping us trying to precipitate a conflict - they also ended up giving us unfriendly relations. About an hour later 7:5 did a full wave on us. We were in a situation where we had no war build or no ritual, limited resources, and had managed to simultaneously get ourselves in conflicts with two KDs that were better prepared. We asked both for CF's, 5:12 agreed right away when they saw our situation with 7:5. That gave us a bit of breathing room to look at the situation and critically think about our chances against 7:5 in a war.

We saw that despite not having many of the fundamentals in place of our typical war prep, we were in a position where we had an extra 40k units on 7:5, and better EPA. At the time we had around 200,000 extra NW at a lower land size. We decided to use what GC we had left on us to do a mass conversion to war builds and declared on 7:5 later that day. We managed to get lucky circumstances and two KD's exited war on the same tick as we ended up declaring with enough runes to allow us to up a war ritual, which was a huge boost to our chances for success.

7:5 story in build up to war

Well we waved first, they wanted CF but we needed war. Our ranks were crumbling being in war build for a very long time and people getting restless! We had several war proposals, but we had also an internal dispute that lead to a province defecting. We proposed a time for war but that was ignored so we waved. Hard to keep people these days, especially in utopia so we have to make things happen. We also were double waved by 8/7 so it was a busy build up.

As for my comments on the war, it was a very strange conflict where the unit differential basically stayed the exact same the entire time. As I said we started around 40,000 up on them, that was consistent for around 36 hours, and then when their ruby dragon arrived that decreased to just over 20,000 lead and stayed there for the rest of the war. Nothing either side did seemed to affect the outlook on the war that much, or rather I should say that both sides effectively countered any progress that the other made. At the end of the day the big difference maker is that we had large unbreakable T/M's that were able to slowly add the land they needed to really get their econ going. The same provinces did around 90% of the work killing the dragon from 7:5, so our core didn't have to drop units. Despite having the UB advantage the result of the war wasn't totally clear. 7:5 was able to maintain a large peon advantage (sometimes 60,000+) throughout the majority of the war right up until the end and having to kill a 2nd Ruby Dragon which we assumed was on the way would have been very difficult. When we saw that the 2nd Dragon was coming, we really took the whip to the T/M's in our KD and got the peon count evened out by coordinating FB runs with semi (or full) chains on their remaining T/M. I really give a lot of credit to 7:5 for a tough war, first for having the guts to wave up around 10% NW, as well as keeping the fight so even for 3+ days. We were apprehensive about going to war with them because we know of their reputation from the last couple of ages of winning most of their wars and being a really tough out. Giving their abrasive qualities when it comes to picking fights with people, I could well see us running into them again later this age! hands off our GC from now on though ;/

Oh! last comment, running 20%+ GS and WT on your entire core is incredibly toxic.
