So I've been making my partner read Homestuck and they're on Act 6 right now, but I wanted to talk about the biggest unexpected moments of when they were reading Act 5 Act 1. As my partner was getting introduced to the trolls, they instantly had a positive reaction to Eridan, which was a bit shocking to me because I was expecting her to dislike him off the bat, since he was kind of judging based on appearances and Eridan has a meanish looking face. When troll romance was explained and they brought up Feferi and Eridan as moirails, he was like "aww they're in love!" on top of this, they thought that they both had flushed feelings with one another because of this dialogue.

But the BIGGEST surprise came when Feferi and Eridan broke up. Keep in mind that I was thinking that she'd dislike Eridan from his first appearance and chat with Kanaya. I was expecting THIS to be the breaking point for them. But somehow, despite his outrageously unjustified crash out,

they still liked him for some reason! They even took his side and pitied Eridan. Like full-on went "Aww, poor baby." I COULD NOT wrap my head around why he even liked Eridan in the first place. So after this moment, I feel like my brain just broke. I asked her why they liked Eridan so much and they said, with absolutely no hesitance in their words, "He reminds me of you." The shock of their sentence still wreaks havoc on me to this day. I still do not understand it. Firstly, why do I remind her of Eridan? And secondly, why does she even like me at this point if THIS is who I remind them of? I still question my quality as a partner if I remind the love of my life of The Prince of Hope. @auenknowing why
