even more of my personal Ford headcanons that no one asked for while I'm between drawings:

Enthusiastically defends the combination of pineapple and pizza (psychopath).

Literally so amused by anything he perceives as dry humor. Often takes these remarks as jokes and moves on without thinking twice about the actual message.

Prefers silence when his full attention is devoted to working. Can stand some background noise, but ambient music or talking starts to irritate him after a while.

To add, he's got such selective hearing, let's be real. Chances are, if he's focused, he's only partially listening and responding to pauses with "mm" and "uh huh".

Funny enough, he's a great listener any other time and really absorbs what's being told to him. He's working on this kind of behavior rather than allowing himself to spin the conversation so it's about him.

I see him as artistically inclined just in general. He's a great traditional artist (a given), but I think he'd also be really skilled at pottery or metalworking if he tried it. He's just so damn busy that he'd avoid taking on too many hobbies.

Constantly falling asleep outside. A bad habit, really. The gnomes love to steal his stuff.

Not especially concerned for his own safety (very obviously). Does things spontaneously and in the name of science, or whatever, but he'll go as far as treating it like a joke. Probably went numb to the danger of what he does at some point.

Has really good (and arguably strict) hygiene routines. That's about as far as his self-preservation goes.

Not quick to anger, but his temper flares are actually pretty bad when he reaches his breaking point.

Saves things from old socks to egg cartons, but not for any specific purpose. He's just really bad about hoarding stuff that could potentially be useful later.

super quick musings on Fathoms. i like a lot about the pose + design, but i feel like they kinda suffer from Undel Sameface when everything about their lore is pointing towards "friendly gentle ocean giants". wanted to roughly sketch Merrigan for a side-by-side comparison, and then some rough doodles of how i might push the design in a chunkier, more cetacean-inspired direction - 3 is swapping the features but keeping the overall proportions/layout mostly the same, and 4 is pushing the proportions even further

Kinda taking a little break from that brainybeth comic so I don’t burn myself out, but I still want to draw stuff, I just don’t know what. So if anyone has any questions about my self ships (mainly my ship with Brainy or Reuben since those two are the ones I’ve been really focused on right now) feel free to ask away and I’ll try to draw responses for them.

the idea came to me in a migraine induced dream but now im obsessed with the concept of a mu qingfang who knew the abuse bunhe was going through at the hands of og!shen qingqiu/shen jiu and did his best to treat the kid whenever he could (and bring his concerns to zhangmen shixiong, which were obviously very much ignored) and his constant worry over the situation means that when the qi deviation happens he is suspicious of shen qingqiu’s changes for all different reasons and very much protective of luo binghe -who is a sweet child and an earnest disciple who seems to always find the most incredible medicinal herbs to bring to his mu shishu as thanks for the care bestowed upon him- which means that when the whole shen qingqiu dying thing happens instead of bad mouthing luo binghe or fighting him at every chance he does his best to come over and keep an eye on things to try and help him and make sure luo binghe won’t kill himself trying to bring shen qingqiu back because he remembers that earnest kid and he’s witnessed luo binghe’s devotion to this shen qingqiu first hand and knows there is no way that the kid who cried when ning yingying found a bird with a broken wing and begged mu qingfang to fix it and the kid that would always borrow medical texts and try to find new herb combinations as if it was a game between him and qian cao disciples is actually doing anything nefarious to shen qingqiu’s corpse.

the only event i have participated in was the Platonic Secret Valentine earlier this year! (here’s my gift)

i only joined the DCA fandom late last year and i haven’t been active in many fandoms since 2014ish i think? but i rarely drew for those fandom because they were very… critical to put it politely 😅

as for discord... i mostly use discord to chat directly with friends. large discord servers kinda overwhelm me and i don't really have the spoons to post my art on multiple platforms, so my art is usually just here on tumblr or privately shared with friends on discord

i'm so mad because i find the concept of hsr's chimeras to be so fun. scientists trying to revive extinct species but every attempt just pops out another weird little hybrid Creature. instead of the individual animals they were trying to reproduce... that's a fun little concept!

and then they went and kind of ruined it by establishing that the chimeras are 10000000000% sentient and as intelligent as any human and can be communicated with and it turns out the citizens of okhema are... exploiting them for free manual labor..? huh. and now you are given a quest where you become a manager for a squad of chimeras and now you have to turn them into top performing laborers but they don't really want to Work. but you have to ignore that and ignore their desires for self-autonomy and make them work anyway. Huh

and throughout the quest you are given options to point out that it's literally textbook exploitation and that you don't really want to participate in putting these little HIGHLY INTELLIGENT animals into what is essentially slavery. and when you complete the quest you are awarded with a little medal for having the most productive chimera squad and you can respond with "i don't feel happy about winning this." so it's not even like the writers were simply blind to the strangeness of it all. they point it out themselves! BUT NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT IT!

the chimeras never get an opportunity to dictate their own lives everything is controlled by the humans around them and yeah i guess there are laws in place against straight up abuse but it's still not like they're getting compensated for their work. they don't get money to go buy little chimera groceries or toys or anything. and they're shown to be fatigued and overworked and stressed and like it's just so fucking weird and uncomfortable

these little aminals should not be concocting plans to call in sick for work. like what the hell leave them alone
