Yay! Someone else falling into this rabbit hole! Just started on my own journey lol. Genuinely, I think if we could get answers on the clones, on the stuff like this where they just leave nuggets like this and dip, we'd end up with 10+ years of Star Wars content.

Most of this is gonna be personal musings on what I've tried to connect so far.

Firstly, definitely agree with anomalous-fox on the "why" being to make them more nationalistic and loyal by isolating them, similar to a degree to what Palps was doing with Anakin, as well as just looking at historical groups who indoctrinated Youths for their regimes. (I think the trainers would've seen it as more confirmation on the corruption of the Republic/Jedi. And who amongst the clones is going to question the Jedi knowing about their army if elite troopers are being trained on their doorstep?)

Personally, I'd wager Palps even curated the 501st specifically for Anakin to lead. Stick him in the middle of some of the most brainwashed troopers - sorry, sorry the most loyal and elitely trained - and slowly erode his boundaries on the slave army he's helping lead along with all the other horrors (because his boys are different. Slaves aren't made guards, unless you're waiting for them to shoot you in the back. And Anakin trusts his boys not to shoot him so are they really slaves? maybe palpatine is right).

As for where, no dice. I saw something about one of Coruscant's moons on one of the wikis (can't find it again tho in any of the CG entries or entries about the moons) and in the notes here; I haven't seen concrete references yet to back that. Nothing to disprove it either though. The two resources I found (Insider magazine, which I don't have, and the complete visual dictionary, which I do) don't list a specific place, or say much other than that they were "brought in secret to Coruscant." Which is so vague. I'm assuming either an older Republic facility was quietly repurposed/given new life (could be a cool idea if any Old Republic barracks were still around), or some of that Lower Levels or Outter Rim aid money conveniently was redirected into Coruscant's underworld for an unspecified "aid" project around the start of Palpatine's Chancellorship, building a facility that's deep enough it's not safe to question its presence if there are even enough people to see it. Palps could have even used the accounts left by Plagueis to fund an inconspicuous construction, if direct Senate funding seems too risky.

And Kaminoans don't appear to need too much adjustment environmentally, if at all. Maybe some humidifier rooms? I'm not sure what would convince them to leave Kamino. If not money, maybe research specimens/etc to quirk their scientific interests enough to put up with it. And the facility being in the polluted lower levels gives an extra excuse for no one to be outside to be seen.

Getting them all there seems like a basic smuggling question. If Dooku can sneak onto Coruscant in the middle of a war, when security should be on steroids, I feel like pre-war would be no different than average Coruscanti smuggling difficulty. Palpatine would have been Cancellor by the time any troopers would be getting transfered to Coruscant. (Maybe even visited to oversee progress. We know his cloak is as powerful as Clark Kent's glasses lol.) Combine that with whatever corrupt officials, black market/underground networks Palps already had, however much extra Chancellor-y powers he's weasled for himself by the time any clones are moved (if they're trained initially on Kamino and only moved for desired skills being displayed, since he was gathering more power even before the emergency powers/military creation act), and Coruscant's already healthy slave/trafficker network, there's probably a million ways for a few hundred shuttles with official codes/paid off air traffic security to steadily be bringing cadets into Coruscanti space without notice.

Overall, I think kaminoans wouldn't emphasize it because why would the location of their perfect soldiers and perfect training plans matter? It's all perfect. And the Jedi, who knows what they know or would be able to find in the training facility? If they even know it exists. It would have gone from 0 clones to 100,000 and counting within the span of a week. Would they really notice a few thousand that didn't show up with the rest, with all the death and chaos of one mission? Especially when the Guard don't seem to interact much with Jedi in their duties and the 501st could have been presented as just an elite group being incorporated into Kenobi's troops under Anakin, then they're assigned permanently once he's Knighted. Maybe eventually they take notice, while the Council has Shadows searching for leads on how the clone army was commissioned. Even if they did notice early on, I don't think they'd be able to question it initially.

Idk I think this is a really cool opportunity to fill in the blanks in a way that makes sense to you. And then share with the rest of us so we can all brainstorm. XD Hope this helped or at least gave you a few ideas!

Really hope they give us more clone-centric content tho. They're so cool, yet we know so little about them.

I have a genuine question about the 501st and the Coruscant guard. In Legends, The 501st and Corries were raised on Coruscant. Is there a specific facility they were kept? Did the Kaminonans just buy a building and put them there? Did Tyranus set up the amenities for the Kaminonans? Why is this mentioned off handedly? Why is Coruscant instead of Kamino? Why?

This might be a dig at Soap, but he’s not going to completely understand at first. In his mind, he thinks he hasn’t done enough to make you wet, and if he incorporates more foreplay and non-penetrative sex, everything will be fine. Obviously, this is not the case. Soap is committed to understanding but it’s going to take him a while to fully come to terms with it. He’s gonna fumble, hard. But he’s dedicated. This might even put a potential strain on your relationship.

Gaz understands immediately. No issues. None. And no judgement either. Instead of trying to lead or offering suggestions, this man puts you in charge. Nothing is happening unless you want it to. If you’re up for it, he’ll participate with full enthusiasm. If you’re not feeling it, he’s not going to make you feel bad for turning him down. He wants you to take care of yourself and listen to your body above his need to get laid.

Price is a problem solver. In his mind, something is wrong, and therefore he needs to help fix it. Although he means well, it can come across sometime as if you’re broken. Price doesn’t mean it that way, truly he doesn’t, but he will slip up and move around the issue in a way that he thinks is delicate but is really a bit disheartening. This is a man who wants to do right by you but isn’t always great on showing how.

For Ghost, when you tell him you experience pain during penetration, his reaction is going to be “okay, and?”, but not in a dismissive or apathetic way. To him, we are all individuals with our own needs and accommodations. Ghost is fully aware of what he needs, so why would he be dismissive or ridicule you for yours? He’s going to follow that up with “how can I be of service to you” and “what do you need from me” because his only goal is your comfort. He enjoys getting his dick wet but what’s the point if you’re in pain? He doesn’t want it unless you both want it.

lee incorporated, one of the biggest companies to rule the world, was now facing trouble with its sales—something never seen before in the many years the company has been in operation.

its success had been ongoing throughout the years, making it impossible for new competitors to even make it as such—until the last few years.

the feud between the two companies had been going on publicly, only adding to the sales of each one as well as increasing their popularity.

heeseung didn't understand why the other company seemed never to give up and, in fact, kept shooting up in sales before his very eyes. his family was counting on him to keep the legacy of lee incorporated, but he was beginning to think it was impossible.

throughout the last year, you've been meeting up with different investors who seem to be interested in having some kind of connection with your company. you've also had the opportunity to be in the same room as heeseung, the future owner of your competition.

it was evident how frustrated he would get when an investor would set up a meeting with the both of you, thus making it easier for them to see which company would be the better option. his eyes shot glares at you every time, as if every look was a dagger thrown straight at your back.

that was the case now. both of you stood side by side as you gave a presentation as to why the investors should choose one over the other. you were both professional enough to keep it calm but couldn't help glaring at each other from time to time.

"thank you for your time, both of you. we will be reaching out to the candidate we like most, and we wish the other party the best of luck."

both of you bowed politely until the meeting room was empty, leaving only the two of you in the room. you sighed, taking a seat in one of the chairs that had been occupied moments ago.

"if you're that tired, just give up," heeseung said, fixing the sleeves of his white button-down.

you scoffed, grabbing a fistful of hair to tie it into a bun. "as if."

every encounter ended almost like this. sometimes you would exchange more than two words; other times you would bicker until someone else caught both of your attentions; or sometimes you wouldn’t say anything at all, one of you walking out of the room right away.

there was a spark you felt between the both of you that only lit up in such moments. heeseung felt it, too. but it was only normal to feel such hatred when your enemy is in the same room as you.

Hello! I write stories in horror genre. I've been wanting to incorporate more disabled characters in these, because I feel like they're really underrepresented in the genre except for either demonizing roles of antagonists, or a random victim who dies/is exploited for cheap shock because of their disability. One of the stories I'm working on has intellectually disabled protagonist/narrator. Are there any things you'd recommend to avoid in writing a character with ID in context of horror genre specifically?

I have a few problems with ID characters in horror media. Two of the three biggest ones you've actually already covered in your ask, so I'll just add quick explanations for people not familiar with them.

First is the "big intellectually disabled man murders everyone", not even because he's evil or is seeking revenge or whatever, but because he "doesn't understand" that murder bad. It's absurdly insulting and writers don't seem to understand that a lot of real life cases where an ID man "committed" a brutal crime are a result of police manipulation and tricking them into "confessing", but that's a very long and frustrating topic.

Second one is the victim thing. Hardly exclusive to any minority, but with ID characters it often seems like they're the first of many victims and their death is usually ignored because who cares (granted, pretty realistic) until more people start dying and all that. Dogs tend to get more sympathy (also realistic).

Third thing that I hate is the "everything is normal... until the character is revealed to have mental [R word]! (scary music)". Generally in the sense that the situation seems completely fine, the protagonist has no actual traits of ID, but then at some point they find out they have ID (usually severe or profound, which is ridiculous in this context) and suddenly the actions of those around them are pretty clearly fucked up (the character is actually held hostage, kidnapped, about to be murdered, you get it). It uses intellectual disability as a shock factor and as some worst-case scenario nightmare fuel for abled people, even though the situation makes no sense (no, a profoundly ID person isn't going to be reading their medical records and find out this way) and wouldn't happen. It's insulting nonsense.

Another thing that is insensitive in my opinion is the institution/SPED setting. Definitely not because nothing evil happens in there (quite the opposite) but because the way it's usually treated is completely devoid of empathy and the actual victims are portrayed as animals almost (or not so almost). I'd just stray away from the extreme real-life abuse scenarios (abusive caregivers, borderline slavery "work"places, purposeful medical malpractice) that do actually happen if you don't have a lot of experience or aren't working with someone who does.

Last thing, kinda connected to the third, is to not make any bizarre connections between the disability and the horror. ID can make someone trust others more which could lead to a situation that's potentially Scary, but it doesn't have much to do with demons or the parents doing something fucked up before the person was born.

There are of course other things that are kinda tired, but not completely made-up. ID people are victims of crime way more often, that's a statistic that's been true since the dawn of time. But it doesn't mean that they won't fight back because they're disabled. I'd love to see a character who actually wins against the antagonist at some point (even if just for a moment, considering it's horror) - whether they're physically stronger, or know the place better so they get away, or manage to keep calm because they haven't realized they're in a dangerous situation, it would be awesome to see.

Some additional notes that might or might not apply depending on what kind of horror it is;

A lot of people with ID aren't going to be reacting to the regular horror stuff the same way as your average horror character might. They might not think much when they hear a Suspicious Sound and not go investigate it, or be too scared because it's an Unfamiliar Situation. What would be more realistic in a scenario like this is the ID character actually reaching out for help (depends on the settings what that would be); most of us get it drilled into our brain to listen to authority, so they would probably be calling the cops rather than going into the Scary Basement, even if just in the fear of not doing the thing you're supposed to.

In more of an eldritch horror setting where there is an incomprehensible Thing happening, a character with a significant intellectual disability literally has an advantage over abled people. It's just one of many incomprehensible things. Many of us are simply used to ignoring things that don't make sense since the majority of people don't have the patience to explain things in a way that's actually helpful.

It'd be also cool for the ID character to actually have a goal, objective, or whatever else to drive them forward and have some development. Whether that would be the desire to find out who murdered their ex-husband, or why the sink has blood instead of water, or just to survive the voyage, basically anything other than just standing there only experiencing things when some abled savior shows up and tells them how to feel and what to do (both bad for an ID character but also just a poorly written protagonist of any kind).

You cross your arms over your chest, amused as the blue package floats silently over to you. It stops right in front of you and a flickering screen loads from a small projector propped on the top of the box.

It’s ridiculous of him to put a no option. You press the yes option and a cheerful jingle rings from the speakers as the package drops at your feet. Bending over, you scoop it into your arms, a delicate smile on your face. You can feel quite a few gazes on your back but you opt to ignore them, walking out of your dorm and towards the source of your gift.

Ever since the events of winter break, you’d become far more accustomed to the halls of Ignihyde. The students seem to have grown more accustomed to you in turn, although some still scamper away from you.

There was only so much that could be done, you think. Besides, your presence here was not because of them. You were here for their Housewarden.

As you reached his door, you wasted no time reaching out to knock. Each tap of your knuckles against his door was crisp and loud, just in case he was wearing his headphones. The corners of your lips lift into a smile as you hear him shuffling around, no doubt checking up on his room to make sure it’s just the normal amount of messy but not too messy lest you get suspicious that he’s a slob or that he cleaned just for you.

You already know he did, though.

“Are you going to keep me waiting?” you call out teasingly, tapping your foot on the polished floors.

The door creaks open slowly, and the soft pink glow of Idia's hair lights up his face. Your heart takes a tumble in your chest.

“Hi.” you breathe, “I wanted to open your gift with you.”

Idia squeaks and opens the door to let you inside, rocking back and forth on his heels.

“Um, okay. Thanks.” he says, mumbling each word as if he isn’t sure what he’s saying at all, “You, uh, didn’t have to do that.”

“But I want to.” you refute, and you both understand what would have come after that.

So let me do this.

“Okay.” he jams his hands into his pocket and shrugs, always so awkward around you but so obvious, “I hope you like it.”

“I’ll love it.” you reassure him.

꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ heavily into eye contact, wants to always be looking into your eyes and yours into his. there’s something so intimate about it. it makes him feel as if you are the only two people in the world and it often times just makes him feel so giddy and calm, at the same time. like, he’s so smiley whenever you two do lock eyes, gums on display and that charming smile of his so apparent. but also calm in the sense that, you two are only looking at each other, meaning that everything that he loves and cares about is right in front of him and its almost as if all of his worries wash off of his shoulders at that realization.

”i can do it,” jiung offers, anxiously watching as you cut the vegetables as your part of prep for dinner. he’s just nervous about you accidentally cutting your finger or skin, even though you’re a perfectly capable grown man. plus, he likes the idea of spoiling you — even if its small gestures.

”jij, i can do it,” you answer back quickly, forehead crinkled as you focused on your task at hand.

jiung can only sigh, watching from the sides as you continued working. after finishing all of the ingredients that needed to be cut, he gently spun you around and kissed you, “thank you for helping out,” is all you hear before focusing on your charming boyfriend that was so softly kissing you.

he’s smiling into the kiss, pulling away and keeping his hand cupped around your cheek. he’s grinning ear to ear, with what almost seems like sparkles in his eyes. his eyes on locked onto your own, suddenly looking even more enthralling. his lips were quirked into a little smirk as he watched you carefully.

his eyes were wide, waiting for your next move and then they gently closed when he saw that you were leaning in for another kiss.

꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ okay so we all know that choi jiung is not a big touchy feely kind of guy. and that stood to be completely true at the beginning of your relationship. you’d have to be the one to initiate physical affection a lot at the beginning and at times it was kind of intimidating because you obviously knew his preferences. but a guy just needs a hug sometimes, yk so you’d hug him from time to time and he wouldn’t really fight against it. over time, he found himself loving all the touches you guys would share and then he began initiating all of the affections. it took a while for him to get completely comfortable to get to that point, but he’s so thankful that you were so patient and understanding of him.

jiung was on weverse doing a live, but it was only the audio that was being streamed. so you were both comfortable cuddling on his bed, not worried about any fans’ watching since they could only hear his voice. he was laying flat on his back, your head resting on his chest as his hand was going up and down your back. you were mindlessly scrolling on your phone as he was reading through the comments of the live.

“jiung what are you doing now? just laying down — getting ready to sleep,” he answers easily, “im trying to recharge because we were very busy today. first, we had to go to a meeting with the rest of the members, then we had practice which just ended, so now im resting and talking to p1eces,” you can hear his smile as he talks, cuddling closer to his chest and turning off your phone.

he squeezes your shoulder to convince you to sleep, which you don’t argue against.

“did i eat today? i did, i had a big meal because practice was really draining. how about you guys? eating three meals a day is very important, y’know? if you don’t eat three a day, you might get sick,” his natural ability to talk so smoothly about any subject what was made you fall asleep so soundly, his soothing voice being the last thing you heard.

and jiung was very close to ending the live and joining you, but he wanted to give some more time to p1ece since he hadn’t talked to them in so long.

“jiung, is someone snoring? is it one of the other members?” he chuckles at the comment, holding you closer as he answers, “you guys can hear that?” his cute laughter is all that p1ece heard, but in the room he was fondly looking at you, “yeah, someone is sleeping, so we have to be quiet okay?”

the chat is immediately flooded with “okay” and “yes”, making jiung smile even wider.

he talked with them for a little while longer before deciding it was time to end the live, it was getting late and he could feel the exhaustion from the entire day catching up to him. after bidding his chocochips farewell with his signature goodbye, he shut his phone off, plugged it in, and got more comfortable in bed with you.

he shuffled down, holding you tight to his body to hopefully not disrupt your slumber, and sighed in relief to be in a comfortable position. his arm was wrapped around your shoulder, securely holding you to his chest as his other hand was just sprawled over the sheets.

꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ is always looking for you and thinking about you. unfortunately with how hectic their schedule is, you don’t always spend a lot of time together during the day time — usually at night is when you’re together. whenever he’s with the members, staff, or anyone, he’s always talking about you (his yapping self-) or he’s thinking about you so much he’s gone nonverbal.

currently, the boys were shooting some stuff for a segment on their own variety show and while the staff around them was getting everything set up, the members were allowed to freely roam around.

“ah, [name] would like something like this,” jiung says excitedly, pointing over to some random item that caught his eyes. he knew that it matched your current aesthetic. so he turned to look at theo who was closely trailing behind him and asked, “do you think i should buy it for him?”

“yah, jiung be more careful speaking out loud like that,” theo lightly scolds, gesturing to all the mics that were around plus the ones they were already wearing.

jiung waved his hand with a smile, “they’re not filming yet,”

theo only sighs, watching as your boyfriend fondly looks at the item, “yeah, buy it for him, i think he’d like it too,”

“right? okay, i’m going really quick — if someone is looking for me i’m at the cashier,”

taeyang nods in understanding, then shaking his head at what a lovesick puppy his friend has turned into.

when shooting for the show began, they only got a couple minutes in before a staff was questioning jiung on what he was holding. the members all looked at him in curiosity, except taeyang, and all of them sighed when he shyly smiled and said, “oh, it’s for [name],”

their manager face palmed at the side, walking over and taking the bag from jiung’s hand right away, “start it over,” the manager briskly orders the filming staff, making everyone sigh in annoyance.

“sorry,” jiung apologizes, but the wide smile on his face shows he’s not all that sorry about his accidental slip up.

his mind just naturally trails off thinking of you, you’re really on his mind 24/7. if he sees something funny on his phone, he’s sending it to you immediately. if he sees something that reminds him of you, he’s taking a picture of it and sending it to you. if anyone mentions anything that could somehow relate to you, jiung is rambling on about your connection to said subject.

the members find it endearing how obviously in love with you he is, but sometimes it does get irritating when every other thing jiung talks about is you. not because it’s you, but because when jiung talks about you — he talks. they mean full blown five-ten minute ramblings about you.

they love your guys relationship and you, it’s just jiung is such an active yapper already, when it’s you it’s as if the yapping increase by a million.

꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ knows your preferences like they’re his own. your boyfriend is the most observant man on earth. he can easily tell when something will or will not be to your liking. this comes in handy whenever the members want to give you a gift when they’re abroad (their sweet souls-) or when they’re out at a restaurant and bringing something for you to eat at home. this gift of jiung’s also ensures that the gifts he gives you (read: he loves spoiling you all the time) are perfect and always suit your tastes.

“jiung, what about this? would he like this shirt?” keeho points to something that is hanging on the rack, eyes blown wide, “well, it’s already his favorite color-”

“no, no, he doesn’t like those designs,” jiung says, walking over and acting as your personal stylist with the way he begins to go on an in depth tangent on what your preferences are in clothing, “see, because when it’s shaped like this, he doesn’t like how it frames him. so don’t look at those types of shirts,” jiung hums, walking around the store with keeho trailing behind, “try something like this, this is something he’d definitely wear,”

keeho cheers in accomplishment, even though he didn’t really do anything, and gets to searching. jiung walks on his own, finding souvenirs for both you and him. he smiles whenever he sees something cute, but has to restrain himself from buying every singe little thing that reminds him of you. he misses you a lot…

he pulls out his phone to text you, hitting send just in time before intak is asking him for help too. the man is also looking for gifts for you and knows to consult jiung, obviously. your boyfriend is eager to help, happy to find that his close friends are so considerate of you and your souvenirs from their abroad travels.

whenever the two of you go out, a little thing that jiung does is order for you — now!!! it might sound annoying and unbearable but walk w me. so basically, you and jiung were trying a new restaurant, something that both of you enjoyed since it was a safe option. after looking over the menu for a couple of minutes, you two talk about the variety of food.

“they all look so good, i don’t know which one i should get,” you half-heartedly complain.

jiung’s eyebrows are furrowed as he reads over the menu one more time before turning it to you and pointing at one dish, “this one, i think you’d like this one. it sounds really good too,” he comments, smiling softly at the way your face visibly gets excited at the sight of the food. “i’ll order it for you?”

“yes, thank you, jiung,” you sweetly say, making him chuckle at the tone you were using. he reaches over to hold your hand, rubbing the back of it gently.

“i’m also getting this dish, so we can try each others, if you want,” seeing his selection makes you even more hungry, thinking about how you were going to be eating good tonight.

jiung’s knowledge of your preferences are so accurate that you end up eating off of both yours and his plate, and vice versa. he smiles throughout the entire dinner, finding the image of you excitedly eating the food adorable and a sight he wants to see forever. nothing more adorable than your cheeks full of food and that happy look on your face as you eat.

he is glad he was able to pick satisfactory dishes, smiling ear to ear the entire dinner with you.

꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ definitely finds you as his muse. there is rarely ever a time he doesn’t involve you in his creation process for music, which is understandable since sometimes he really needs to lock in. but seriously, he finds so much inspiration in your mere presence, you really do help him so much through his writing, composing, and producing process. just by you being the room with him, it helps him so much in everything. it’s as if you lift a weight off of his shoulders.

now p1ece were aware of who you were. they didn’t think that you and jiung were dating, though, mainly due to the fact that you were both boys and they just didn’t automatically assume you were anything more than friends. it was kind of fun that way, since jiung could easily sing praises for you and be as sappy about your guys relationship and the fans will seriously play it off as “i love their friendship”

jiung appreciates that since it doesn’t put you two in an extremely uncomfortable situation and allows you two to hide your relationship in plain sight. and while he can’t really openly show you affection or speak his mind on just how much he loves you, he is glad that he can speak your names in the same sentence and his fans won’t immediately threaten you, or anything like that.

“are you sure it’s recording?” you ask, looking at the miniature camera the company had lent jiung for the rest of the day.

“yeah, when the light is red that means it’s filming,” he clarifies, making you hum in understanding. “hello, everyone,” he greets the camera, reminding himself that he has to act as if he is speaking to a live audience.

the company wanted some behind the scenes footage of jiung composing p1harmony’s songs, which explains the two of you sitting in his studio as well as the mini camera and tripod that were now on his desk.

“so this the process of me writing the first couple lyrics to one of our upcoming songs,” he explains, placing the camera down so that you were not in frame and it was mainly him and his keyboard in sight. “i have someone here to kind of help me through it, but i honestly think i know how i want to do this,”

you crack a smile at the reference to yourself, jiung already watching your reaction with a smile on his face, too.

“it’s a love ballad, softer than a lot of our songs. and it’s supposed to be on the refreshing side, so i hope i can show that process to you now,” he hums, looking at his computer screen, “should i do this or should i do that, is what i’m thinking now because i have a lot of lyrics already drafted up. i can’t show you, but i’m going through my digital notes right now,”

his words make you curiously look up, shifting in your seat to get a good glimpse of the lyrics. reading over the cheesy, sappy, and dramatic lines jiung had crafted about you makes a smile break out on your face.

“do you like them? which one is your favorite?” he asks, scooting over so you can get a better look. you’re in frame now, but it’s fine because he knows the company will blur out your face for your privacy.

all the lines jiung had written about you were all so sweet, it tempted you to give him a kiss right then and there. but you withheld, instead focusing on picking just one line to be your favorite. meanwhile, jiung is watching you like an excited kid showing something to their parent. he really loves hearing any feedback you give him as it believes it makes him a stronger artist.

his hand goes to gently caress the back of your thigh as he awaits to hear what you say. he can see in the view finder the camera can’t see it, so he’s carefree in his actions. anyone can tell that the look in his eyes is that of pure admiration, but he knows that p1ece will be none the wiser.

“hm, this one!” you point a finger at the screen, making jiung lean forward and read it over. the both of you are grinning ear to ear and those eyes of his are crinkled so obviously at the ends.

“really? those one are your favorite?” you hum in confirmation, for a moment forgetting that there is a camera recording you two. “i like those too, i feel like they’re pretty specific so it might not be that relatable to others…but to me, they’re really strong lyrics that show genuine love,” near the end of his sentence he realizes that he has to have some sort of filter and adds in, “only if you know what true love is, everyone, will you be able to relate.”

you roll your eyes at his cheesy line and cheap save, going back to sit on the sofa that was in his studio and going to sit on the couch.

“oh, here there are some lines in here about a forbidden love you guys might like — it’s also a little specific, sorry, but if you’ve ever experienced anything like it, you’ll get it right away!”

Your bag is carried, your books are carried, at one point these adorable buff himbos thought it would be a good idea to just place you on a cushioned chair and carry you like that - which you were quick to shoot down

If you need anything new - shawls, abayahs, clothes, prayer mats, even a tasbih, he’s taking out his shiny black spoiled rich prince card and just throws it to you 

He definitely asks around Scarabia to see if there’s anything else you need that you haven’t told him or gotten for yourself

And no, it doesn’t matter that ‘Kalim kind of got it covered’, he’s buying it for you. Besides, it's nice to have extras to be prepared.

He’d make sure that there are plenty of shaded, cushiony areas where you can rest in his dorm (he already made a dedicated room for you when he found out that you were muslim for you to have privacy/pray/do whatever - and yes, the Savanaclaw students used their excellent construction skills to even build a wudhu area)

He writes home to his brother and sister-in-law explaining your situation just in case Cheka wants to visit and ends up running you ragged because you’re too kind to say no to him. You wake up the next morning to find a care basket from the King and Queen of Afterglow Savannah, giving you well wishes and the way Leona’s eyes don’t meet yours tells you all that you need to know.

(He also asks his sister in law if she knows any ladies that practice the same things you do so he could get a better understanding)

Whenever it’s time to break fast, the entire Savanaclaw dorm throws a feast (it's usually a barbeque) and they all eat with you like one big happy rowdy family 

No matter how much of a sleepy kitty he is, he always makes sure to wake you up on time for iftar or suhoor if you’re sleeping when the adhaan goes off

I like to think that NRC has an adhaan that plays through the school’s speakers but the individual dorms have their own set up as well

Oh imagine for your Ramadan henna you manage to incorporate a lion like Leona’s tattoo or like paw prints or something like that and proudly show it off to him and he just scoffs and mutters something about you having good taste 

Okay so you know those anger translator videos? Well, since you can’t swear or use bad language when you’re fasting, Ruggie has a whole arsenal of words to unleash on anyone giving you a hard time (typically Ace, Deuce or Grim are the ones who do this but pretend they’re not there), and then he reports back to Leona

"Please introduce the character the other is playing in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger."

Sakai: Yano-san plays Racules Husty, the big brother of Gira Husty, who I play. At first, we were led to believe that he was a bad guy who hurt his citizens, but unknown to Gira, he was carrying a huge burden on his shoulders, and was deliberately behaving in a way that made him look like that. Gira may have lost his childhood memories, but I think he respected Racules in those days, and even now is of great importance to Gira.

Yano: Gira is the younger brother of Racules, but at the same time, he's a mysterious being. Somehow, he can communicate with the Shugods…For the rest of the story, it felt like he was moving forward with innocence, but gradually, he gained leadership, moved the hearts of those around him, and became the driving force for the previously broken up Royal Sentai to become one. Furthermore, he's also been gaining more and more dignity as the new king, and now he and Racules have resolved their differences and are fighting together.

"Outside of your roles as brothers, what's the relationship between you two like?"

Yano: (with a solemn expression) We normally don't get along very well.

Sakai: (with a straight face) We fight alot.

Sakai & Yano: (laughs).

Yano: No, we're just joking. That's not the case at all.

Sakai: Yano-san takes very good care of me. He cares about me, asking, "Are you eating properly?," and also gives me advice on acting.

Yano: I'm not offering anything major. I just say, "Here's what I'm doing."

Sakai: For example, in running scenes, Yano-san breathes loudly with, "Haa, haa" to make the sound easier to pick up. Since Gira has many running scenes, I try to incorporate this in my own way.

Yano: I believe that each actor has their own way of creating emotion, so I often talk about the technical aspects. For example, it's better not to blink during important scenes, as it could distract the viewers. If there's no dialogue in a scene where you're close to a character's face, I'd suggest that you express your feelings by clenching your teeth or swallowing saliva.

Sakai: He teaches me these things in a way that's easy to understand. Furthermore, Yano-san has so many variations to his performance! He's always been a great help.

"Speaking of, what do you usually call each other?"

Sakai: I call him "Aniki."

Yano:…You've never called me that once though.

Sakai: Ahaha! Just now, I got scared~.

Yano: I immediately started thinking about the best way to respond to your joke.

Sakai: Actually, it's "Yano-san."

Yano: For me, it's "Sakai". Sometimes I call him "Taisei." Like when we go out to eat.

Sakai: It makes me happy to be called Taisei by Yano-san. From now on, I want you to call me Taisei!

Yano: You prefer Taisei?

Sakai: Yeah, but Sakai is fine too. I've been called that since I worked together with Yano-san in the drama "Shinyu wa Akujo."

Yano: Everyone called him Taisei, but I intentionally chose Sakai.

Sakai: Eh? Was it to make me feel special?! I'm so happy~!

Yano: Well…that's right! (laughs). What does Ikeda Masashi call you by?

Sakai: You mean by everyone?

Yano: Why'd you respond like that? (laughs). Sakai is like this, and sometimes I can't get through to him. The other day he asked, "What did you eat for dinner?" and when I answered, about 3 minutes later, he asked me the same question again.

Sakai: I wanted him to respond with, "How many times have you asked that?!" (*he wanted to do a bit with Yano)

Yano: Absolutely not. I could tell by your face. Sakai has a different kind of expression when he's like that.

Sakai: Eh? So you can understand such subtle changes! Yano-san is the mood maker on set. When he's on standby in front of the cameras for a monologue scene, he makes strange faces right up until the actual performance (laughs).

Yano: Hey, hey, that makes it seem like I don't take my job seriously! Well, it is true that I make strange faces (laughs).

"We've heard from your co stars that Yano-kun is lonely, and that he posts the most in the King-Ohger cast's group LINE…"

Yano: It's a misunderstanding. There's a reason for that. It's a common occurrence among actors, but even if you create a group LINE with your co stars, after filming begins or after some time passes, no one says anything. I don't like it, so I post frequently, but no one ever responds…

Sakai: I often have trouble speaking up because I'm too considerate of my seniors.

Yano: Sakai doesn't really say anything. Rather, he doesn't return private LINE messages.

Sakai: That's not true. I reply as soon as I see them!

Yano: You didn't reply the other day.

Sakai: I might've been working.

Yano: Let's just leave it at that (laughs).

"Since you play brothers in this work, we'd like to ask what kind of household chores you'd share if the two of you were to live together."

Sakai: Leave the toilet and bathtub cleaning to me!

Yano: Are you good at it?

Sakai: I'm the type of person who makes things beautiful when my "switch" is turned on. However, folding clothes and vacuuming…I don't feel like doing that.

Yano: Well then, guess I'll do it.

Sakai: Please also take care of the cooking!

Yano: How strange! (laughs). Because, Sakai, you have a rice cooker at your house, and yet you eat precooked rice packs, right?

Sakai: Cooking rice is a pain…

Yano: I really don't understand that feeling.

Sakai: Everything depends on my mood (laughs). If I feel like cooking rice, I'll cook it.

Yano: So, on days when Sakai feels like it and cooks rice for me, I'll have to say "Thank you~!" out of consideration. How annoying~ (laughs).

"(laughs). In the future, if you were to work together again as actors, what kind of production would you like to work on?"

Sakai: I'd like to play a yakuza role.

Yano: I see. Your role would be something like, "Even though his face is cute, his face is calm when he kills," does that sound good?

Sakai: That's good!

Yano: Well then, I'll play the role of the detective who hunts him down. There was a drama like that, right? It was…"Informa," featuring Morita Go-san and Kiritani Kenta-san!

Sakai: Ah!

Yano: Sakai would be in Kiritani-san's position in that drama. Or, I'll be in Kiritani-san's position and Sakai will be in Yokohama Ryusei-san's position.

Sakai: That's really good!

Yano: Personally, I'm looking forward to it. What kind of work will Sakai first appear in after he graduates from King-Ohger? I think it's really important to make that first step. What kind of production do you want to be in?

Sakai: I have almost no experience in acting, so I'd like to play any kind of role.

Yano: Then, if you had to choose between comedy, romance, or serious, which one would you prefer?

Sakai: Are they genres I can do? In that case, I'll do it.

Yano: No, don't just say "I'll do it." I just gave you choices.

Sakai: I see, my bad (laughs). If I had to pick, I'd like to do a serious one. Also, comedy.

Yano: You chose two (laughs). And they're completely opposite genres.

Sakai: I'm greedy (laughs).

avery: one of the most dangerous because the others have genuine love for you (deep down in some cases) but avery is scary. they see you literally as their object, just a nice possession to have hang off their arm. canonically has sent at least one former sugar baby to the asylum so clearly already has some yan tendencies. is fine as long as you do exactly what they want, be the perfect partner for them to tout in public. makes you their doll, buys you nice clothes and dresses you up. but if you ever do anything that goes against what they want, they will not hesitate to break you and mold you back into their perfect toy. high rage yan avery, if they don't kill you first, will make you lose your mind and you'll end up in the asylum too.

alex: friendly on the outside but obsessive within. wants to breed you like one of their farm animals. if you try to leave the farm and their dominance is high you will be caged up again like an animal. loveloveloves having you rely on them. enjoys having power over you. sees themselves as your provider. can get very overprotective when remy is involved. wants to rescue you!!

hello!❕heads up this isn’t a draw request bc ik you have a lot of those rn❕i saw you request chronic pain gon art on twitter and was wondering if you had any thoughts on that au? do you think you’d ever incorporate it in your post canon hxh lore? as someone who is realizing they might have chronic pain i just love the idea of gon having chronic pain after canon. i especially love him having a great support system for it :)

Ramblings about the hc below :-)

These are some doodles I did for the idea a little while back. This idea started from me projecting onto Gon losing his nen and seeing it as similar to the disabled experience.

I feel that Gon would have a huge complex about his pain and deny any aid for a while. When he does seek out assistance he treats it like an episodic thing, rather then somthing that is constant. Like, pushing through the pain and his limits for a while until he breaks down, then once he recovers from the break he goes back to pushing himself. In his head his disability is only present in these break downs allowing him to ignore it until it becomes too much. Over time though he would learn better habits and how to not push himself to a breaking point.

For his support system he definitely has so many people there for him!!

When on Whale Island Abe and Mito are the first to encourage him to slow down and be there for him when he's dealing with coming to terms with his pain. I especially think Abe would get on his case for internalized abelism and be the most understanding with him, Mito would be very supportive in caring for him but she wouldn't really understand imo. I feel like she was the one to instill hard working habits into him which can be an unhealthy mindset to keep when disabled.

When it comes to Killua I think that Gon has a bit of a complex over his pain in realtion to Killua. He'd likely wish he could tolerate pain to the extent Killua can and feel inadequate or weak for being bothered to the extent he is by the pain. Also Killua would likely feel even more compelled to protect Gon and Gon the prideful creature he is would feel insulted if Killua got overly protective.

In the end despite those issues and emotional complications, Killua is definitely who Gon would be the most soothed by when in pain and Killua would want to be there to support Gon. I think there's a lot of opportunity for softness between them because of it. Killua catching onto Gon's pain when he's trying to hide it, Gon seeking out Killua as a distraction when it gets bad, there's many cute scenarios.

Gon would absolutely be the worst at dealing with his chronic pain and with it being a side effect after being healed in this au, I think be would feel that he deserved the pain as well. Despite feeling like he deserved it he would hate being less capable from it and cause a lot of issues with his self worth. I think him accepting it with time and then learning how to work with his pain, knowing his limits and when to push them, and actually seeking aid, he would develop a much healthier relationship with his pain. I really love the idea of his character growth being reflected in him learning to take care of his condition!

I'm a person with fibromyalgia and migraines so when I picture what his pain is like and how he goes through it I'm imagining what I experience but in the future for any chronic pain Gon stuff I make I think I might make the pain a little vague so people with different kinds of chronic pain can relate!! As for incorporating this hc into my hxh lore, I'm kinda treating it as it's own au separate from most of my post canon hxh stuff. I have a pretty thorough outline worked out for my post canon lore and I don't want to shoehorn this hc into that so I'm treating it as it's own thing

I hope you gain some comfort in Gon suffering the same as you and getting enviable support from his loved ones, I love living vicariously through fictional characters 🫶

•You do your daily things, you train with the others and stuff like that, but you always do it the easiest way possible, the way that requires the least effort

•Maki wasn’t a big fan of you when you first started in Jujutsu High, you started at the same time and she found you quite infuriating

•You never seemed to take anything seriously, most of the time you were just lounging around, yawning, looking generally tired and being lazy

•But when she saw you fight for the first time, actually fight against a curse when you were assigned on a mission together, she was stunned to silence, which is a pretty impressive feat for anyone when it comes to Maki

•You always liked her, you thought she was badass and no matter what anyone else thought, strong

•You and Maki actually end up becoming pretty close after you saved each other’s asses on the first mission you had together

•The dating thing just kind of happened without either of you really realizing it, until Panda made some off hand comment about you two dating and you were both like “We’re not dating!”

•Which led to the conversation of “Are we dating?” and ended with the conclusion of “I guess we are”

•When you overexert yourself, you fall asleep very soon after, therefore you have to be good at distributing your cursed energy evenly so you don’t run out

•You also have to sleep for a pretty long while after to get your cursed energy back to a normal level

•Maki doesn’t really care if you’re lazy, since you still put effort into the relationship and you can hold your own and you’ve got her back in a fight

~Todo Aoi~

•Todo used to not have a very high opinion of you, because of how lazy you were

•He felt like you never put any effort into anything, especially physical training, which was very much the case but he didn’t yet understand why

•You never really talked about your cursed technique, because you didn’t see a reason to

•So Todo didn’t know about how it worked or that your lifestyle was very good for your cursed technique

•When you finally got annoyed at his attitude and the constant chastising, you told him about your cursed technique

•Now he can just complain to you about your martial arts and close combat technique, which he does

•Todo actually starts helping you with honing your technique, which includes a lot of sparring and you getting beat because you don’t want to use your cursed energy on him

•He wouldn’t kill you, and getting at least a bit beat up was a pretty daily thing for you as a jujutsu sorcerer

•Todo has had to carry you back from missions a few times when it got tough and you over exerted yourself, because you fell asleep

•He doesn’t mind, and he’s much gentler with you now that you’ve started dating

•Before he just threw you over his shoulder and carried you kind of carelessly

•When you need to recharge, you like to sleep in his bed

Malleus paused, pondering the question. “What an odd inquiry.”

“For Malleus-senpai, yeah. You use magic for almost everything! It must be hard to just pick one thing about it that makes you go, 'I'm thankful for this!'. But for me…” Deuce tilted his head back, looking up to the structure that loomed over them.

It was the main building of the campus, housing numerous classrooms and offices. Regal and imposing, with several turreted towers and balconies, it was less an academic institution and more like a castle. A castle where dreams and wishes came true. Among them, his--if he worked hard enough.

"I'm happy that I got into Night Raven College," he said earnestly. "I never thought I had the magic potential to make it to a place like this, but here I am... standing at the steps."

Malleus's mouth curled. "What a surprise. Many of the students I've encountered here are the self-assured types. If I may ask... Why is it that you did not believe yourself worthy to stand among us here?"

"Long story short, I was kind of a delinquent back then. I'd use my magic to get up to no good. Y'know, laying the smackdown on anyone that talked shit or looked at me the wrong way."

"... 'Lay the smackdown'? 'Talked shit'? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with such colloquialisms."

"Er, it sounds really wrong hearing those words come from you... Basically, it means 'fighting' and, 'when people say bad things about you'. Got it?"

"I understand. Perhaps I will take care to incorporate such terms into my vocabulary. It may even make me appear more approachable to others."

"AHHHH!!!" Deuce startled, frantically waving his hands to silence his interviewer. "M-Maybe that's not such a good idea!! I think Sebek'd tackle me to the ground and kill me on the spot for teaching you bad words..."

"Of course. Please, continue sharing your story." Malleus gestured for him to proceed. "Pray tell, why is it that you became entangled in such affairs?"

"Lots of stuff," Deuce said vaguely. "Mostly because I stood out. Didn't really fit in. It was easier to take out my frustrations on others than to work on myself.

"When my magic came to me, it was helpful to have in fights. It would drive some people off, and they'd leave me alone. They were scared of getting crushed again by a cauldron."

"Scared, you say... Hmm." Malleus looked pensive. "I see. So there are cases where non-mages feel threatened by the existence of mages."

"Huh?!" Deuce stared at him, eyes bulging. "That never occurred to you before, senpai?!"

"Magic comes naturally to me. It is capable of blessings and miracles. I cannot imagine why anyone would fear it."

"Well, I think it's because magic can do good things, but it can also do bad things.”

“Good and bad…” Malleus’s brows crinkled as the considered the thought, a finger to his chin.

Deuce’s stomach dropped at the sight. “Did I speak out of turn?! Y-You don’t have to listen to what I said if you don’t want to, senpai! Forget me, wh-what do I know anyway?!”

“… No, not at all. I was just thinking about your words. It reminds me of something my grandmother told me.”

“Eh, your grandma? Y-You don’t mean the queen of Briar Valley? I… reminded you of her?” Deuce squealed, afraid to speak her name.

“Yes, she.” Malleus’s eyes darkened, resembling a storm right before lightning struck. “Grandmother says that we Draconias were gifted with great powers—and with it, great responsibility to our people and their smiles. It is with this power that we are able to protect our country.

“Is it not similar for magic in general? The wielder is the one who determines whether one’s magic is used for ‘good’ or for ‘bad’ means. In which case… it is up to each of us to use what we have for ‘good’.”

“Draconia-senpai…!!” Deuce clutched a fist to his heart. A smile was at his lips, his eyes shining. “You get me!! I… I want to use my magic for things like that! To defend my friends and my family…!!”

“That is the way.” Malleus smirked, relishing in the newfound fire in his junior’s eyes. “The power to protect those you love is within your own hands. All you must do is shape it, guide it… and make that dream come true, regardless of the obstacles that may cross your path.”

“I’ll do my best!! If there’s one thing I know I’m good at, it’s being stubborn!”

“That kind of persistence is unique to you.” Malleus showed his teeth. “Take pride in that, Spade.”

"You bet I will!!"

"... Incidentally, how do you fare in Defense Magic?"

"Urk!!" The birthday boy visibly deflated--an indication of his answer. "N-Not the best... I studied as much as I could, but still barely passed my last exam. But don't worry about me, Draconia-senpai!!"

Deuce pointed at his temple. "I'll train my brain even more so I can get at least a C next time!!"

A C... so he means to say that he earned a D on his previous exam.

A low laugh rumbled out of Malleus. “How truly tenacious of you, Spade. I wish you the best of luck on that journey.”

He lifted a hand, fingers curling around the milky orb floating in the sky. The wind rustled upon his command, ushering in a cool breeze that chased off the bleating heat of summer.

“The birthday road, and your future, awaits.”

“Yes!! I’m on my way!!” Deuce eagerly mounted his broom. His knees were tucked together tightly, stiffly securing the handle.

“Ah, and Spade. One more thing.”

“Yeah? What’s up?”

“When the times comes,” Malleus said with an easy smile, “you are free to defend yourself against my magic.”

Deuce nearly fell off of his broom at the suggestion. “Whaaat?! There’s no way I’d be able to hold up against your magic…! I’ll be just a pile of ashes by the time you’re done with…”

He caught himself and stopped. A deep breath taken, and then he set his jaw. The peacock green of his eyes had dimmed into a shade more serious.

“… No. I… I just told you that I wanted to be the kind of guy who’s capable of defending the people he loves. That means no running away, even if I’m scared, even if I know I might not win! That’s my promise to myself.”

“Fufu, that’s what I like to hear. I will be expecting you sometime then.”

Deuce gulped. “Got it! I’ll face your challenge and my future… head-on!!”

FwooooOOOSH!!

A steady wind kicked up, starting small and growing into a powerful gale. Deuce yelped as his broom bucked forward, inching above the ground on only a few startled sparkles. He looked back in horror, only to find Malleus chuckling into a hand.

Had that been a magical push?

“Heh, so that’s how it’s gonna be?” A wicked glint had surfaced in Deuce, from the eyes to his grin. “I’ll show you just how I ride…!”

Gripping the handle tightly, he leaned forward, bracing himself for a familiar rush. Height wasn’t his goal, but speed.

The world stilled. His senses sharpened, his thoughts growing louder, more insistent.

Imagine a magical wheel. Think of becoming one with the wind. So fast that you’re not yourself anymore.

He blasted off, a tornado of swirling blue petals left where he had once been. Flitting down lazily, drunken on the moonlight, they were the mark of a speed demon reborn.

I just read your 'Dark Gale'/Just Gale analysis and wanted to say I heartily agree. I have profoundly enjoyed a lot of fanfiction about Gale but I have felt a good portion are missing that darkness. I think somewhat ironically, people are inclined to believe what Gale says about himself as fact when he contradicts his words with his actions constantly. I personally think he refuses to acknowledge that part of himself because it contradicts how he views himself. I think he wants to be viewed as Wyll is viewed. But his own motivations counter that. Love to hear your thoughts, and do you have any recommendations of fics that incorporate more of the darkness. Also obligatory, I love love Gale such that I think all aspects of him should be considered when your character romances him.

I totally agree that people go with what he says and not what he does; I adore him so much, and part of that is because he can be a little mean and sulky sometimes. It’s very human of him. His arrogance is super compelling because while it is earned (being a former archmage) it’s also a mask! He has so much bravado because he just doesn’t believe he’s enough as he is at all. I just went through his act 3 scene in the astral plane last night and my heart went out to him so much. He thinks the only way he can be of value is to be more than human, and that makes him do incredibly questionable things. It struck me how aware he is about the pitfalls of godhood- the lack of feeling, the lack of care, their innate apathy- and yet still in the same breath he desires to be one of them. God!Gale is such a different beast from the mortal man. He has none of the warmth in his eyes, his voice is more impersonal even, his skin is silver. He dehumanises himself completely, and in a completely different way to, say, Ascended Astarion.

God!Gale isn’t evil. He’s just self absorbed and treats Tav kind of like a plaything almost, exactly like Mystra did with him. It’s taken as a given that Tav will be his chosen (in my case, that playthrough he was Tav’s ex and she went with Halsin instead) and that she just couldn’t understand or comprehend what was going on. He’s aloof and cold.

Gale’s deeply insecure, but over the course of his romance you can insist that you just want him how he is, and he says he can live without godly powers, because Tav is everything to him, and he sees that ambition isn’t worth losing that… but it takes so much. Left to his own devices he would ascend and he wouldn’t have enough humanity left to regret it. It takes someone grounding him and validating him to talk him down from it.

I think ultimately his less than savoury actions are born of the abuse he endured from Mystra, never being able to measure up to a literal goddess, desperate to be more than that. He has selfish intentions for sure, but in his heart he’s crying out to be loved and just seen by someone who will understand him as the human man he is, not the god his ambitions push him to be.

In terms of Dark!Gale fics, if I may, my masterlist is here. The first two, Permeate and Possession, are probably closest to that darkness, though I am planning to write more and please do send a request if you have any for me!

Heyy I'm that game concept anon! Wanted to say that it's been absolutely lovely to read about different systems' experiences!! Nice to see we're not alone lol. I'm usually pretty confident in what we have going on, and people around us (in college) somehow are... supportive, even tho they don't understand what I'm talking about like half the time, but that moment bent me out of shape a little. Glad to report that I'm now back into the proper confident shape yeehaw :)

Also in my first ask I somehow failed to mention this, but the whole deal with the "romantic connotations" was literally just my teacher making it up himself. Like as much as I wanted to show my relationship with my husband/co-host one for one, I wasn't originally going to make the game characters have a romantic relationship. Cuz platonic relationships are very important too! And overall the goal was to show how alters should have better in-sys communication and collective problem-solving, when possible (and NOT bully each other for 'stealing' each other's life, and NOT bully the persecutors for being mean without trying to figure out why they're mean and without trying to help them, and NOT bully other alters for acting like they do without learning their reasoning, like we did, unfortunately.) I guess husband's 'Protective husband' energy was just too intense for the teacher to handle lol. But NOW I do want to incorporate in-sys dating. We'll see how it goes, I guess.

I'm really glad you're feeling better after what happened. So, your professor was just seeing romance where there wasn't any, huh? Feels like a common theme with professors whenever someone writes about any kind of close relationship – maybe it's due to amatonormativity, or maybe in this case it's just your husband's "protective husband energy", as you say, haha. But I'm happy to hear that you've continued working on your project with passion, and that you have people who support you!

I'm also happy to learn more about this game concept you're working on, because it sounds very cool! Everything that you list are important things for systems to learn, though I find many systems struggle to learn them when they first discover their plurality. As we said to a friend once, with how strongly the idea of "one body = one self = one life" is cemented into everyday narratives, it's difficult to unpack that and accept that your body and life may not be only your own, thus making it difficult to accept your system and respect your headmates. Of course, this doesn't excuse rude or cruel behavior between system members, but it's a common reason we've found for conflicts that occur shortly after syscovery. So, I find the fact that you're not just acknowledging but showing these conflicts and the process of improving relationships (with the word "relationships" being used in a general sense here) between headmates in your game to be a very good thing!

Short stories, novels, or poems?

I cannot stand most poetry. Maybe it’s because I’m still in school and have to analyse it but I can’t deal with how abstract it can be. I want to write more short stories but my one and only WIP is probably gonna be closer to a novel, if and when I finish it.

What genre do you prefer reading?

Fantasy, especially high fantasy. Murder mysteries and detective stories in general are a close second. Most other genres are reserved for spin offs or fan fiction.

Are you a planner or a write as I go kind of person?

I make a plan that I then actively ignore my OCs force me to not use

What music do you listen to while writing?

Most of the time I listen to the one Reddit podcast I’ve listened to every episode of because I can zone out and I don’t miss anything important. This one is a bit of a bad habit because it distracts me, but EPIC the musical is my current hyperfixation and I listen to that constantly as well.

Favorite books/movies?

Because I have the reading comprehension of an 11 year old we have Murder Most Unladylike (I would die for this series), its spin off the Ministry of Unladylike Activity, The Hunger Games but only really the first book, How to train your dragon but only really the Netflix show and the first movie (the books are great but I haven’t read them in 7 or 8 years and because they’re so different from the movies I’m not sure if I’d like them anymore)

Any current WIPs?

Gold, Greed and Gods which is a vaguely Victorian fantasy about the main cast trying to find a cult before it engulfs the world in literal chaos. And also magical shenanigans and timeline fuckery

No it kinda weirds me out. The closest I’ll get is asking my one irl mutual about their experiences with stuff that I (as a someone who is cishet and perisex) do not understand

I’m not the biggest fan of angst so no. If anyone was gonna die you aren’t allowed to get attached to them so I don’t get attached them hence why the only dead characters in my WIP die before or very soon after it begins. That isn’t to say my characters aren’t affected, but I can only imagine any potential readers will be neither here or there about those characters.

Coffee or Tea while writing?

I don’t really like hot drinks but I hate the smell of coffee so tea?

Slow or fast writer?

A secret third thing which is I wrote 5000 words in 3 hours yesterday so for atleast the next week I won’t be able to string a sentence together

If you were in a fantasy world, what would you be?

A healer would be fun? I wanna be a doctor so I guess that’s close enough. I cannot imagine I’d survive very long without my glasses/ contacts in any case.

Not really a book cliche but horny bard memes will never not be funny. I also love juxtaposition between characters, if done tastefully, eg. Ray of sunshine is best friends/ dating the grumpiest character alive. I also just love ray of sunshine characters in general. Also, calm/ happy go lucky/ mentor figure characters who have really high body counts and it’s just kind of an open secret are really fun.

Least favorite cliche:

A lot of romance tropes are tied for last place: miscommunication, any reference or idea that firsts=better (virginity, first loves, one true love etc.), not like other girls

Also love triangles. The only good love triangles are the ones that end in polycules. No exceptions (/hj)

I probably just have a problem with like most romance stories

Favorite scene to write?

I love when characters reference unique worldbuilding things that I actually had to think about. Similarly, if I feel I’m doing them well, exposition dumps can be fun.

Sorry for all the Tulpa-discourse lately, this is more of a Buddhist ramble / discussion than syscourse but ya know

It's been on my mind a lot between it being in syscourse circles heavily and the fact that I'm actually currently on a system-designated theraputic homework assignment to reconnect with Buddhist concepts and to incorporate it into my self care routine so I can get back to my baseline after doing something of a survival mode to help balance out XIV being in borderline-crisis lately resulting in my burn out

I'm (as Riku as a part) actually usually very hesitant to talk about much of my cultural and personal experiences and AAPI-rooted parts of my life because of old system dynamics, persecution, and a lot of other things that make me very anxious and prone to fawning when me existing in a space I am involved in is at all challenged which is largely why I leave it to XIV to voice it for me since he also is the guy that keeps me from falling into old dynamics. (<- literally is the person who thought I was *checks notes* faking being asian like that is a possible thing let alone something I thought LONGER than me faking DID)

So honestly, its kind of a bit cathartic occasionally to actually have a sense of self and security enough to have the balls to actually defend myself in terms of this sort of crap and assert that I actually, ya know, have an experience in life. So as much as I typically hate the negativity and contention that bringing this stuff up brings, it's honestly theraputic and part of me expressing a valid part of my existence and self - so with XIV's nudging I tend to let myself have that space.

With all that said, I wanted to bring up a discussion point and correction point now that I'm not genuinely and authentically triggered about racism, I think a thing I do want to comment on in regards to the rhetoric on the tulpa topic that anti-tulpa-term people get wrong when talking about Buddhism and """""""tulpamancy""""""" is that Buddhism is not a closed culture or closed practice and stating that does a disservice to the group as well; albeit its the lesser of two wrongs by a LONG shot so I shirk it off as a "to get to later" point

But Buddhism is incredibly open to anyone interested on engaging with it and its part of why - when I specifically talk about the critiques of """"""Western Tulpamancy"""""" in terms of Buddhism I try to remind myself to desalinate between "westerner" and "white". There are many many many white Buddhists - as there are many black, latin, native, Middle eastern, etc Buddhists as well.

In some cases and for some people, Buddhism is a religion and/or spirituality, for others it's more of a way of life / philosophy. Tibetan Buddhism, as I know it as a non-Tibetian Buddhist, is a lot more on the religion side of things which is a different topic I honestly am under knowledgeable to comment on - but overall the thing that ties a lot of Buddhism together is the core and underlying principles of acceptance, letting things go, connecting to the greater world, and just general enlightenment as a means of finding peace.

Myself, and a lot of Buddhists, gladly encourage people to look into Buddhists practices and principles and ideology because its honestly extremely healing and regardless of if you are SUPER into it and go become a monk or what not or if you just dabble in it, so long as you do it respectfully and understand your biases and genuinely have GOOD RESPECTFUL intent and an interest on understanding it more, its an amazing and really welcoming thing to get involved in.

The thing all the 'pro-tulpas' quote on the Dalai Lama is honestly entirely true. Almost everyone could benefit from the practices and principles found within Buddhism.

That is to say however, that there is a large difference between spending a day or two at a monastery and learning more about the culture and the ideas of Buddhism and integrating them into your life and just grabbing this Really Cool and Quirky High Level Principle / Ritual / Practice of a Specific Typically Very Dedicated Version of Buddhism and ignoring EVERYTHING ELSE about Buddhism and saying "this aspect, this aspect I like and I'm going to completely warp it how I like it while calling it and/or referencing it in terms of Buddhism to make it look intellectual and enlightened for me to be involved in it."

I've seen it said in some Buddhist communities and discussions regarding the more ritual and involved aspects of Buddhism - specifically in regards to the Mahayana approaches - that a lot of the practices and rituals when used inappropriately or unguided can be "dangerous" with danger in this sense being a worsening of the individuals conditions resulting in an increase in a lot of the core things almost all versions of Buddhism considers unhealthy and unideal such as increase in conflict, desire, and disconnect from the greater world and thus generally more suffering.

And on that front, while not being of the Mahayana school of thought and as a result not really believing so much in bodhisattvas, I can - from my personal view and perspective - entirely understand how frustrating it is to see a term often sighed with "buddhists roots" be used in a way that - in my opinion - almost exemplifies the exact opposite of what I understand to be the crux of the idea of Buddhist peace.

A large part of me getting more involved into the concepts Buddhism has to offer and honestly a thing that had both helped my healing journey and how I interact with my system is the large realization that the existence of "I" doesn't really have much ground to it in what it is and what it means and what defines "I".

That identity and human nature is largely a mobile and constant changing force part of a larger and grander thing that is just really existence as a whole and there is little that makes me more unique than say the trees or the squirrel looking for nut or a bird singing in the tree other than the fact that I have the "curse" of conscious awareness and 'advanced intellect' that makes it so that I both feel the need to >Be< something and the bother of "the next thing". A large part of practice is letting go of a lot of notions that a lot of society and life reinforce - one of the most in my current stage of learning and practice - is letting go of the concept of "me and I" and just, ya know, being.

And to me, looking at the """""Western Tulpamancy Community""""" you have people who are sectoring off a part of themselves, their experience, their life whatever and not only identifying it as seperate from them (NO!!!! We are all connected >:[ <- light hearted comment) but also giving that part of themselves an entire identity of it's own and a whole second sense of "I" beyond what was already there - combined with the overall themes of 'developing your tulpa' by giving it more traits and details and stuff until it 'becomes independent' is rooted in such American / Western individualism which DO not even get me started on how toxic individualism is and how inherently opposite it is to Buddhism and

//deep breath//

I'm getting ahead of myself, the truth is while the concept of 'creating a headmate' or whatever greatly concerns me as a Buddhist - as a human and as a Buddhist (in a different perspective), seeking out to change people is the last thing I'm interested in and it's honestly not this uber horrible or harmful thing and its really not my business; so as long as it is making someone happy and what not, I really don't care if it doesn't match to my theory cause ya know, theory is that - just theory. Live and let be ya know - yall have your own life to live and yall know how to live your own life better than I could assume to know so I'm not gonna try to tell you how to live it. Philosophical theory comes second to philosophical practice and practice says to live and let be.

But its just really frustrating a lot of the time to see how the topic is handled when its far from really what it is. And in theory, I should let it go because honestly, people using the word "tulpa" to describe experiences that are largely anti-thetical to my understanding of Buddhism - while annoying - is not the end of the world and fostering hate and aggression does nothing but increase the overall suffering (dukkha) in the world. Often, when I think about talking about it or getting mad, I do tend to repeat that mantra back to myself and most of the time I refrain and leave it be.

That being said, XIV runs on the philosophy and critique of the over theroretical approach to Buddhism over the realistic and practical in saying that by "letting go of" certain frustrations and annoyances and grievances - while healthier for the individual person - enables and perpetuates long term suffering for the masses and years to come. So that while it would be best for me / us to let it go and exist in a state closer to Buddhist peace and doing so is an entirely valid decision (thus why I respect Buddhists who say using the tulpa-term is fine), I would also be choosing to maintain my peace over acknowledging and speaking up about the honestly long and ongoing racism and disrespect that plague those that I feel particular kinship with and in XIV's perspective (one that I am starting to take on a bit more lately) - the choice of personal peace is a selfish one that is complicit in increasing the suffering of the world as a whole in favor for the individual "I" that honestly has become a bit distasteful for our system.

But anyways, I digress. Buddhist ramble done.
