I love how Wally is besties with basically every green lantern he meets. He and John are basically brothers at this point. He met Kilowag on screen twice and he’s got a weekly hangout with him. Hal is basically his uncle if we’re adding on more than just Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. And you KNOW he and Guy would be besties. I haven’t read the comics but I’ve seen some stuff with him and Kyle that’s rivals to besties/lovers if you ship it and I think that’s neat
Wally is unintentionally amassing an army of green lanterns and uses them for game nights bro has no idea the amount of power he holds

Some other characters voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson:

I like that Kevin Michael Richardson is apparently the voice of Toad in the new Frog and Toad cartoon because he’s almost entirely famous for voicing characters that could and would rip your spine out (you might know him most of all as Captain Gantu)

In Brightest Day (Part 2)
Adrien Sugar x GLtAS (+ a bit of YJ)
Prompt by @somereaderinblue
Viridian meets Kilowag.
“This is my son.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“What do you mean, I love him!”
“Was talking to the poozer.”
He was tougher than nails but he never played favourites & he always had Hal’s back. By extension, this meant he had Viridian’s too. He’s by-the-book but he’s also a dad & damn if he’s not unofficially Adrien’s godfather/uncle.
Sure, the Guardians weren’t as receptive, but again, Hal had his back every. Single. Time. There’s also Ganthet who pretty much guessed Adrien was Hal’s & unofficially adopted him as a grandson. He is to Adrien everything Fu wishes he could be.
GLtAS events happen & Viridian is along for the ride. He introduces Aya to anime, cartoons, memes, the works & encourages her to embrace emotions. It’s more awkward with Razer, but one day, the Red Lantern helps him with his homework & they’re discussing abt physics. A week later, Adrien shows off his skills with the staff & Razer teaches him how to throw shuriken.
Adrien mourns Aya’s death & before Razer leaves, he warns him not to lose himself to grief like Gabriel did.
They return to Earth & Hal introduces Adrien to the other sidekicks. Young Justice is formed & during the events of Misplaced, Adrien briefly returns to Paris to help with organization & rescue.
LB doesn’t recognize him until she hears him crack a joke. When she asks, he hesitates too long & she pounces on it like a shark scenting blood. Calls him a coward & a fake unworthy of wearing that ring and showing his face back in Paris and trying to get in her way again.
But Viridian quickly composes himself & even scolds her for acting so unprofessional while they’re in the middle of a global crisis.
All of this is recorded by a bystander & after everything is over, it goes viral. It also doesn’t help that since HM was defeated, LB rarely continued her hero work, opting to focus on her fashion career. Turns out, trying to start a business when you’re barely 15 is harder than it sounds & that the field is a lot more cutthroat than Mari thought. It doesn’t help that Audrey’s forgotten about her. Her new classmates aren’t particularly close to her & her old classmates have left Paris to move on with their life.
Also, fighting actual hardened criminals who don’t have akumatization as an excuse for their violence is another beast entirely & more than once, she interfered with a police work that resulted in more harm than good. Without the Ladyblog, other blogs have popped up to call her out on her past mistakes, including the mistreatment of CN despite her claims that he’s a joke.
Adrien has Hal, the team & even some Wayne PR lawyers to ensure neither he nor his alter ego are affected in any way. Pitying Mari, he offers to help her smooth things over. She explodes.
“And what do you want in return, a kiss?”
“Not even if you paid me.”
No infatuation, no humour, no nicknames, nothing.
“You must be enjoying this. Heck, you-you planned all this, didn’t you?! For revenge?!”
“How could I plan anything? I’m just a dumb sidekick.”
“And now you’re a suck-up.”
“And now you’re in hot water with the public. Do you want to get out of it or not?”
She doesn’t. Instead, she demands a spot on the team. She’s frickin’ Ladybug! Hell, she’s not even a sidekick like the rest of them, they should be begging her to join them. She’s the Guardian! She can give them the Miraculous to power them up!
Robin, who deduced LB’s ID in less than a month & took even less time to find footage of Mari stalking Adrien, stealing his phone and even breaking & entering into his property, laughs in her face while the rest of them looked at her in disgust.
Miss Martian later admits to the team that she took a small glimpse into Mari’s mind & was horrified to see the cult grooming Fu put her through, the manipulation the rest of the Order are still putting her through.
Viridian used his constructs to restrain LB & take her earrings. He hands them to Zatana & quietly asks her to put a spell on Mari so she couldn’t spill either of their secrets. The irony of this entire situation was not lost on them.
Su-Han jumps in to snatch the earrings……and leaves Marinette at their mercy. They’d been planning on getting rid of her for a while now, this just sped things up. Him abandoning her was the final straw. Marinette sobbed, whined, bargained, raged at the unfairness of it all & basically acted exactly how she always imagined Adrien would.
Zatana cast the spell & Viridian quietly asked Batman to find a way to enroll Marinette into therapy.
Later, back in Coast City, Hal turns off the TV neither were really watching & asks if he’s okay.
Adrien’s heart hurts a little as he recalls what happened to Mari, his old life & how they still had to stop the Order….but the ring on his finger was warm, the couch he sat on was welcoming & when he looked at Hal, he felt seen, he felt loved.
He tells Hal that he’s okay.

Hal and Barry have been dating for a while and both of them have been hunting about getting married. They've been talking about where they'd theoretically have the ceremony, where they'd take a honeymoon, who would be their best men, etc. the only thing they haven't done is actually asked the question.
And that's what Hal is pondering as he's doing a really BORING mission for the Lanterns. But if he wants to propose, he needs a ring and there in lies the problem. Rings are expensive and he is broke as fuck because being an intergalactic space cop somehow doesn't have a salary. And while he's thinking this, he stumbles onto some pretty red and green rocks and has a light bulb moment. He doesn't need to buy a ring, he can make a ring! Here are all these pretty rocks just laying around on this dead planet!
So he takes some rocks, a big ish chunk of iron from a nearby comet, brings them back to earth and gets to work. His lantern ring can do anything needed to make Barry the perfect ring and that's what he's going to do. He puts a ton of thought into it, because Barry works with his hands a lot at work and often has to wear gloves that prevent him from wearing jewelry, he makes it specifically so that the ring will still be pretty if he pins it to his shirt or wears in on a chain. The centerpiece is a big, pretty green rock with lots of red in it that he manages to polish into looking shiny, and it's surrounded by little pieces of sea glass that's red and green too. He gets the iron purified and into a perfectly sized ring for Barry's finger and polished that to a shine too. The most expensive thing about the ring is the dollar store box it came in because he didn't technically have to pay for materials or labour.
So he proposed, Barry said yes, they have their wedding, they both say "I do", Hal steps on the glass, and they honeymoon in Italy. It's beautiful, they're madly in love, everything is going perfectly.
Until Kilowag shows up and is like "Hal, the Guardians want you. You've broken intergalactic law."
And it turns out that the law Hal broke was bringing the rocks back to earth. The Guardians have a rule against that so that rocks that a valuable on one planet can't be brought from another planet and tank the economy. And Barry is wearing the evidence.
So now Hal and Barry, because if his idiot husband is appearing before space court, he's coming along. Their vows said through thick and thin, he just hadn't expected it to happen so soon. And if course, John Stewart, Guy Gardener, and Alan Scot tag along. One for support and two because this is the funniest fucking thing to happen all decade. And then the Justice League finds out about it and they have to go too. One for support and two because this is the funniest fucking thing ever.
The entirety of the case, Bruce is sitting beside Barry whispering to him "it's not to late to leave. We can get out of here right now. I have amazing lawyers, we can get you an annulment and it'll be like this never happened" because he's a supportive friend and also (perhaps even more importantly) he does not like Hal.
But Barry's like "we definitely don't qualify for annulment and I don't think any lawyer is going to believe us if we tell them this"
Hal and Guy are arguing that Hal didn't take the rocks to profit off of them, he took them to make them into a gift. John is talking about earth traditions of giving pretty things to your partner to try and make it seem like this was a weird instinctual thing Hal did by accident to get an insanity plea.
Alan is arguing to give Hal the death penalty.
And then one of the Guardians says that Hal intended to profit off the Bloodstones he took by selling the ring when Bruce freezes and then slaps himself. Hard.
"Bloodstones are pretty much worthless on earth" he says.
And then the Guardians freeze because they've been basing their whole argument on Hal somehow profiting of the pretty rocks he found on a dead planet, only to find out that he basically took beer caps.
So now they have to find out how much the ring is worth, to see if they even have a case. And it turns out they do not.
And it turns out that the entirety of the ring is worth MAYBE, generously, $30. Maybe, if the appraiser is blind. Or new. Because Bloodstone is cheap. Iron is in no demand on Earth. And there are no valuable gems in the ring. Hal didn't even use his ring to know for certain what rocks he picked up off the ground, he literally just thought they were pretty and that Barry would like them because Barry is a nerd who likes space rocks. The only value the ring has is its appearance.
And now basically the entirety of their honeymoon has been spent keeping Hal's dumb ass out of space jail over a pretty ring that, while resilient and made with love, isn't worth anything. So now the Guardians feels dumb and everyone else is asking "how the hell did you even know Hal took the rocks?"
And it turns out the Eobard found out and told Sinestro, who got it back to the Guardians. It's the dumbest thing ever.
They get back and the other lanterns basically look at Hal and ask "so despite all the research you did on how to make the ring, you never stopped to consider the laws of the universe?"
Hal never gets to live it down and it's why Barry gets to put a finger down for "Never Have I Ever Seriously Considered Killing my Beloved Husband After Less Than A Week Of Being Married"

[ID: The Google result for the etymology of the word "galaxy," whose origin is defined as "late Middle English (originally referring to the Milky Way): via Old French from medieval Latin galaxia, from Greek galaxias (kuklos) ‘milky (vault)’, from gala, galakt- ‘milk’." End ID]
We have GOT to pick a better name for our galaxy than the Milky Way, if aliens ever come from the Andromeda Galaxy they're gonna think it's a horny thing

OK, Blackest Night parts 1 and 2 are absolute GEMS for John's character, but they've also got me CONVINCED Wally West played Ace Attorney.
He's using the patented Phoenix Wright strategy; just saying whatever he can to buy time, no real clue what he's doing, and when he's called out on it, has the audacity to go, "Who, me?"
There's also something very "my brother could beat up your brother" energy about Wally when Kilowag came up to testify.
Space Prosecutor: Surprise witness? He wasn't near the crime, what kind of witness can he be? Wally, smugly: A big scary one.
I prefer to imagine Wally was hiding behind Kilowag a little bit when he said that, and smirking.
Poor John. He's ready to die for a crime he thought he committed, and in what he believes to be his last hours alive, he gets to watch Wally recite everything he learned from Trials and Tribulations.

Comics this week?
Anonymous asked: Comics this week ? Especially Ultimate Spider-Man.
Anonymous asked: What did you think about Ultimate Spider-Man?
Ultimate Spider-Man #1 - Dare I say it: Amazing. Spider-Man is back to being the best/hottest book on the market. Like the original USM we go an entire first issue without Peter even wearing the costume, but every bit of set-up here felt like it was expanding the kind of possibilities for where Hickman could go. Peter and MJ both sound and feel right in a way the 616 version do not anymore. MJ being a business owner and the real bread winner of the family raises an interesting possibility in a world where corporations run everything. How far could she possibly climb? Enough to attract the Council's attention? I called Ben living in this universe while May died, but I did not see Ben and Jonah being the best buddy duo of 2024. Love their dynamic and I really hope neither of the two die any time soon. I like what I see of Ben, he's the same principled guy as always, but he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder here that explains why Peter usually does too. Normally we just don't get to see that because he only exists to die. Can't talk about the kids too much yet, although I want that scene of May holding the ball with the spider to be foreshadowing her own future as Spider-Girl.
Spider-Man has always been an interesting hybrid of the Superman/Batman archetypes, but 6160 Peter I think leans more towards the Superman side. Besides the obvious similarity of Peter being an investigative reporter, here being a hero is what he wants, he's seemingly motivated not by guilt like 616 Peter, but out of a sense of altruism and also a desire for more from his life. Oh and his first big foe is a bald guy who controls NYC via money. Guess the "reveal" regarding the variant covers is that Peter's StarkTech suit (can't believe Hickman went there and did it in a way I don't hate) is that it can shift in appearance between the different suits at will. I cannot wait to see the Peter and Harry dynamic play out, sure looks like we will see their friendship form from joining forces as Spider-Man and Green Goblin, only to fall apart as Harry falls more and more into madness. Now I really want to see him married to Gwen, but it seems like he's a bachelor. Perhaps Gwen is a cop in this universe and she might still enter the fray.
Responsibility is the ubiquitous theme of Spider-Man, but here it's presented in a different light. Peter had a heroic destiny taken from him, and he accepts it back willingly despite the costs it's sure to inflict. Hickman seems to be tackling the idea that the rich and powerful have robbed us of the glorious future we were supposed to have, and now the question is if there are enough good people who feel responsible for the collective good left in the world to take that future back. Certainly a relevant topic, one that puts a new spin on Marvel being "the world outside your window".
Action Comics #1061 - Timms levelled up on art and gave us one hell of a fight sequence. Poor Jupiter is down one moon. Good issue, Bizarro tapping into magic to recreate his home via replacing Superman's is an interesting premise. Aaron's got a good handle on Clark's voice and the voices of his supporting cast, think this Marvel Star writing Superman will go down easier than the last one did.
Green Lantern # 7 - Found out where the other Lanterns are and that "death" scene for Kilowag is a total fakeout with no body. Bringing Hal to Sinestro and trying to talk things out was a doomed endeavor, no way was that confrontation ending without violence.
Blade #7 - Kind of a filler issue, Hill's been uneven lately here which is disappointing because he started strong.

So im watching Green Lantern The Animated series and...
I thought this was gonna be an average cop show and boy was i wrong. See i know who Hal Jordan is in the comics and comics Hal would say several slurs and dated a teen girl, this Hal would NEVER. Kilowag would call someone a slur tho.
Also just wanted to highlight this quote from the series: "Our duty is to serve and protect, even if they are criminals."

Green Lantern: Geoff Johns
Issues
- GL Rebirth 1-6
- GL 1-52
- GL Corps 1-47
Read January
Story: 8.5/10
So it’s hard to review because it’s an entire run and in retrospect I should have done a review for each arc but in reviewing this as a whole I really fell in love with the green lantern corp and it’s mythology. The spectrum of corps are fascinating and led to really well crafted stories and characters. The main cast is lovable and flawed and I cared deeply for all of them. The massive events hit like trucks with massive scale and scope, and the small stories in between all led up to amazing character development and revelations. Twists were abundant and well crafted, and plot points were layed out so far in an advance that it actually blew my mind that Geoff was allowed the time and resources to actually pull it all off. A complete reinvention of the character that is the foundation for this entire mythos for the rest of time.
Art: 7.5/10
The art in these titles varies wildly from not so amazing to stellar! Ivan Reis is the standout and is a lynch pin of the series. Whenever his name was on the book you knew you were going to get beautiful full page spreads, dynamic composition and sexy heroes and villains.
Special Notes:
- I can’t believe how many of the lanterns I’ve fallen in love with. Natu, Laira, Sinestro, Kilowag, Guy, Rayner, and so many more
- Geoff is so talented at setting up and paying off later on that it’s so inspiring to see such well crafted world building and dedication to long term storytelling
- The secret origins arc is fucking phenomenal and might be the greatest superhero origin story ever told
- The blackest night is one of the greatest comic events of all time. It was so powerful and I only wish I could have read it in the time it came out because I can’t imagine the impact it caused.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
I honestly needed to take a break from this series it was ALOT of reading. Tons of spinoffs I didn’t list, 2 different concurrent series. But I will say it was worth it to learn and explore the foundation of a character. I will continue to read through this series and its conclusion. And I would love to read and explore the further mythos with this character into the new 52, and rebirth. I personally thank Geoff Johns for dedicating himself to this character and giving him real weight and depth, as with his entire mythology.

[movie review] green lantern: emerald knights (2011)
“once again, the diversity of the corps has proven to be its greatest asset.”
i liked this a lot better before i started paying attention to the specifics of some of the stories.
i mean, as already mentioned the corps is basically space cops, so i’m kinda always gonna have mixed feelings. but i think this kind of structure is kind of the perfect way to do a green lantern movie. having all these different stories starring different lanterns plus a framing narrative that is itself a pretty big deal with several action setpieces. yeah! this structure kinda rules.
as for the individual stories themselves? the first one is about the origins of the corps and i genuinely enjoyed it and don’t have any huge complaints about it. kilowag’s is pretty much whiplash but with green lanterns instead of jazz drums. the absolutely upfront abuse apologism is just hard to stomach, and it’s frustrating because i really want to like kilowag. laira’s story was actually pretty great right up until its ending which is a totally unnecessary suicide. mogo’s story rules and i have zero complaints about it. and abin sur’s story isn’t much to write home about but is fine.
anyway, yeah. even if the specific content of some of the stories infuriates me, i still really love the structure of this, and really enjoy it as a whole. again, i think this is kind of the perfect way to make a green lantern movie, and wouldn’t mind seeing something similar in the future.
