i think we as a fandom should talk about this scene more

i believe that this is the first time that gon really gets a glimpse into just how much killua cares for him. all of killuas previous affections have been either while gon’s away or purposely hidden from him by killua himself…

so, gons reaction here is something that really REALLY GETS ME.

He’s shocked! he’s so surprised! killua has NEVER acted like this before, always calm and collected.

what does this say about what gon believes he is to killua? we, the audience, obviously know that killua holds gon on the highest pedestal, light itself yadda yadda. but gon? gon has NO clue that killua thinks all of that! from gon’s point of view, killua is just his bestie that tags along, nothing more. i don’t think gon believes he means a lot to killua, i don’t think he knows he means a lot to anyone, besides aunt mito, maybe.

after this fact, gon can’t get it off of his mind! he’s worried about killua, if he’s okay, that’s how ABNORMAL killua CARING is to him.

you could even draw that into the insult chapter, why gon reacts the way he does, why he truly believes killua DOES NOT care about kite.

their miscommunications get me EVERYTIME.

also: since killua has always gone to great lengths to hide his fierce protectiveness over gon, he must have been SO damn stressed while entering ngl!! killua letting lose like this is rare (well, in later chapters we get his BREAKDOWNS and shit, but he would NEVER do that in front of gon.)

i do believe that killua wanted to act alone simply on the fact that A. he wants to protect gon B. because it’s simply easier for him to work alone.

i think reason B is less likely because killua KNEW he would bump into soldier ants eventually. we know that killugon working together can make quick work of soldier ants. they work perfectly in sync.

however i think gon’s response is what affected their relationship the most.

nothing.

he does not promise killua that he won’t help people he sees dying. killua most likely just views this as just Gon being Gon, goodness and all.

however, since this is the first time killua has expressed concern for gon TO gon, and he is immediately shot down and ignored, his fear to open up in later chapters makes complete sense.

Gon does not get another word out about it besides his “Killua…” (gay asf if you ask me.) While gon is worried about the citizens, he’s worried about killua more.

also: the next time gon hears from killua is when killua calls him after being MISSING for a while, we don’t hear a lot about it, but you’ve all seen how Gon reacts once killua finally calls him.

he was SO worried!! and this ontop of killua being potentially hurt or dead, guilt must have been eating Gon alive. i imagine he wouldn’t want their last conversation to be an argument.

anyway: they make me sick, i think about this a lot.

- some (most) times he falls asleep while you guys cuddle, your presence is just comforting to him.

The whole dating conversation between Gon and Killua makes me lose my mind. neither of them have any damn clue what they're talking about or what the other is actually saying.

Gon says "oh yeah I've been on dates" but there is no way from the tone of this scene that they are anything but his aunt Mito telling him to be super well-behaved and courteous to female guests. he does not actually know what a date is. he thinks it's just 'guy does nice gestures for girl', with all the confidence of someone who has like. surface level, blanket knowledge of a subject but no actual depth djfhbvsdld. Meanwhile, all this goes right over Killua's head and he takes it to mean that Gon has real actual dating experience with older women at age 13, and any normal person would probably be calling fucking 911, but Killua has no damn clue what's normal so he just goes "oh my god. he has dated women -> he has experience -> he wants to date women -> he's going to leave me"

And then Killua proceeds to have an entire sad gay crisis about it

Will greed island au gon ever at least meet mito? i feel like during his search for ging after he leaves the island with killua he would make the same conclusions that kite did and track down his dad's hometown. what do you think his feelings would be? would it improve his horrible sense of self worth?

Side note: how would the zoldyck family arc go in this scenario? I have a feeling that Illumi would show up to mess things up. but this gon is much stronger so he could just basically break into the manor and tell the zoldycks to f off in person.

I didn't even think about this, BUT YES! Gon would go to Whale Island hunting for clues after passing the hunter exam and eventually find Mito. When he learns Mito is Ging's cousin he'll gets excited, cause Gon knows none of his blood family, no matter how distant, an aunt is still a big deal.

His first meeting with Mito will be a bit rough/pretty awkward cause I feel like Ging would let her know he has a kid through a letter or a call or something (is Ging he'll find a way to update her without facing her) but only a decade or so before she have a chance to met Gon. No further messages, no elaboration, by the point Mito sees Gon face to face the concept Ging have a kid will feel alien.

I can see him a bit more self-worth in her presence since 1 - Mito is no NPC she looks after him while he is visiting cause she wants/ she make sure to say when she isn't happy, which makes when she is happy he is around that much more impactful 2 - She will be very angry that Ging abandoned him in some game and while he will defend greed island forever, he is flattered, people rarely get this angry for him. 3 -He bonds with her about Ging leaving, cause the game masters were a bit exasperated at most Ging departure, but Mito was deeply affected by his departure like Gon was. But he still isn't as confident(?) as canon gon.

As for the Zoldyck rescue arc...

I'll be honest, I don't know how that would go, there are too many changes from canon for me to try to domino effect: Illumi already passed the exam, he can't take it again like Killua will, Gon also wouldn't be knocked out with his nen skills, so that scenario ain't happening.

I know Killua coming home needs to happen though, maybe Killua is taking too long in the game (cause he stopped focusing on killing his target after around a week or less and prioritized having fun with Gon and being a rebel) and so the Zoldycks send Illumi to find a way in the game and check on him but idk how that would go. I don't think Gon can beat Illumi. He can beat him in nen arm wrestling and maybe some strength tests, he is a monster in raw power, but is hard to say in a fight with no rules. I can picture Killua, who has the needle, using Acompany cards to run away with gon and freaking out about rebelling against Illumi but I can't picture how the actual confrontation would end.

(I just know Gon won't die inside the game, he has every game master keeping an eye on him if he reaches the point of being in genuine danger. They can be neglectful and all, but they would never let Gon die.)

So for now "how will killua go home?" situation is in progress/may drastically vary in the future

If despite all the changes the situation still end with Gon banging on their mountain gate , Gon would indeed be powerful enough to open the gates and walk to the butler's house without issue but he still has the same "Why must I do all of this to visit a friend?" mentality, and he wouldn't want to cause trouble to the butlers and workers who clearly value killua. So fewer injuries, more questions about the mansion's "rules and 'work designs' choices" (which are usually not answered. cause zoldycks) but overall a very similar outcome.

Despite how everyone around you is acting, your life continues on. To say things have gotten worse is a huge understatement. Lemme give a run down of why, well it all started one week ago.

You had grown to hate the boys possessive behavior, you wanted to leave and go back home. Unfortunately things can never be that easy, you had been working up the courage and trying to find the words to say to let them down easy. Then you finally burst their bubble and told them the truth. You sat them down and told them “Guys I have to say something important” Gons smile slowly faded and a concerned look washed over his face. “I want you to know that…. I’m not happy here. I haven’t been for some time”

gon and Killua shared confused looks “what do you mean you’re not happy? You have everything you need” Killua said now slowly getting angry “Look I’m just tired, tired of well everything. I’m going back home tomorrow I miss my family and my bed. I hope y’all understand” you said trying to let them down gently. “Is it us?” Gon said “ no as I said I’m just tired” you said in an exhausted voice. “You sleep 8 hours every night!” Killua said in a somewhat desperate tone. “Look I’m going back home, I’m sorry but this is my decision” you said now agitated by their responses.

“We can’t let you do that!” Gon said exchanging looks with Killua “The world is dangerous! There are sick people out there that could hurt you!” Killua said angry that you would even say something such blasphemous. “Killua is right you could get hurt out there!! Let us protect you” Gon said in a worried tone, “I’m not made of glass I can protect myself! It’s my choice to leave not yours!” You said angrily “[reader] don’t do this!” Gon said

“IM LEAVING, THIS IS MY CHOICE STOP BEING SO DAMN CONTROLLING” you shouted then you turned to leave. No longer caring about hurting them. Suddenly you felt a sharp pain at the back off your neck then blackness.

You wake up, confused blinking wearingly. You try and get up but your arm won’t move you blink away the your sleepiness, and see your arm tied to the bed post of the bed in the hotel in Heavens arena you were staying at. Those fucking psychos you think. You look around and spot Gon and Killua sleeping on the couches. “What the fuck you guys?!” You scream waking them up.

“[reader] your awake!” Gon said in a somewhat happy tone but there was nothing to be happy about at least not in your eyes that is.

“What is happening?!” You shout as panic begins to replace your anger. “Calm down, look we couldn’t have you leave us, unprotected it’s safer with you here” Killua said attempting to calm you down.

“Calm down?!? I will not calm down what the fuck!?!” You said tugging at the chain hard, causing your wrists to bleed. They rushed over restraining you as you tried biting them.

So that’s how your life is going right now, they feed you everyday despite your many protests to be set free. You were scared, a week or two ago they were your best friends how did it come to this. You started to back track in your life to try and find out what changed. I mean you currently had a lot of free time. So you thought back on everything trying to find out why they are acting like this maybe it was Hisoka you thought, or maybe it was someone I fought, or maybe they’re just fucking lunatics you thought.

You eventually stopped caring all you wanted now was to escape and leave this place and never look back. So you hatched a plan, you were going to leave during the night. Killua was your biggest problem he was a fricken trained assassin how do you beat that? So you continued to develop the perfect plan then something unexpected happened. They had made it to the top floor.

Fuck. All that planning out the window, Gon decided to go and visit his aunt mito. They were taking you with them how you ask? By drugging you of course. Killua came into the room holding a needle and a bottle of mystery liquid. You started panicking, Gon rushed over and started trying to calm you down, but you kept squirming so he physically held you down while Killua put the needle in your arm mystery liquid filled your body.

“It’s alright” Gon said calmingly “you’re just going to go to sleep for a while” Gon said his voice now sounded like an echo, then darkness.

The drugs were strong but your will was stronger, even in your sleep you fought it. You woke up in flashes then immediately going back to sleep the first time it happened you were on someone’s back you ever so slightly turned your head and saw Hisoka standing in the hallway. The second time you woke up you were boarding a ship still on someone’s back.

The third time you were below deck with Gon standing over you feeding you what tasted like soup. The fourth and final time you were be carried bridal style into a house. Which you soon learned was aunt mitos.

You were placed on a bed “f-f….uck” you said waking up slowly with the world’s worst headache. After waking up you felt the weakest you had ever been in your entire life it was horrible. You were in and out of sleep, throwing up, having fever dreams the whole 9 yards.

They hated seeing you like this but they didn’t want you to try and run away. Aunt mito became your savior you tried asking her for help but she just thought you were in pain from this terrible sickness you contracted from the ship ride over, at least that’s what the boys said.

“H-he..lp m…me” you managed to croak out “awh you poor baby” Mito said while placing a cold cloth in your forehead. Even though she was clueless of your situation she was the only sane one in that house. She was oh so kind to you it was heavenly it reminded you of your parents taking care of up when you were younger and sick.

You got better and eventually you left agin with them to York new, something about finding Gons father with a game or whatever you didn’t care you were still planning your escape.

Y’all were finally at York new the boys still so protective and controlling over you, huddling around as to make sure nobody even got close to you.

They needed money and fast so they could buy the game at the auction. That was your way out, the auction, you had a fool proof plan. Step one act like their helpless little sibling gain their trust back, essentially playing into their delusions.

Step two beg to go to the auction say that you want to be there to support them in their journey to find greed island. Step three once you are there book it to the nearest and buff security guard and tell them about the lunatics keeping you captive.

Of course nothing can ever go as planned can it? The phantom troupe just had to come and ruin your plan.

They had heard that the phantom troupe was worth a crap ton of money so they were hunting them down, unfortunately when they got caught you just so happened to have been in the area.

Fuck your life you thought as they stuffed you in the limo. You sat near the ones called Maci and Phinks. Machi was silent just staring you down trying to intimidate you, it didn’t work you were to pissed to be scared, they royally fucked up your perfect plan. Phinks on the other hand kept trying to talk to you you wanted to slap the shit out of him but that would result in your death and you valued your life, sort of.

So you instead kept your mouth shut only responding when you thought he would be angry if you didn’t. You looked up and saw this weird short black haired guy staring at you like Machi. He scared you his aura alone was enough to keep you away.

They lead you into their hideout you were almost positive this would be your final resting place.

You surprisingly spotted someone you knew, Hisoka, fucking, marrow. Why of all people him, Gon almost gave away the fact y’all knew him. Maybe just maybe Hisoka could save you from this hell.

They discussed what to do with y’all, suddenly the blond one named Shalnark spoke up saying he knew you. What the shitnuggets you thought I don’t know this guy. Suddenly a distant memory flooded into your head you had met him.

At the time you didn’t know the tragedy he inflicted on your family. He had killed your aunt, in front of you, kinda lemme take you back.

He had heard about this valuable piece of tech that your aunt had, and of course he needed to have it. You had just so happened to be staying at your aunts at the time he decided to break in. He had broken in, your aunt of course was refusing to show him where it was, he’s a busy man so he placed his pin in her and mind controlled her into showing him were it was.

You had a nightmare and ran out of your room looking for your aunt you ran into him. He looked down surprised to see a tiny lil kid hugging his leg, crying, asking for your auntie. He hadn’t accounted for their being kids in the house, he had no problem killing kids, he hated doing it but if the job required it. This job didn’t, so in a split second decision he kneeled down to your level and patted your head saying your auntie was out and he was a babysitter.

He calmed you down and brought you back to bed, tucked you in and everything. He told you was watching a horror movie so any screams you heard where the movie. You fell asleep,woke up went out and found your aunt decapitated. Not a fun memory.

You spook up saying “Hey you were the babysitter that killed my aunt!” Killua and gon and most of the troupe gave you the “what the fuck” look.

“Ah so you do remember me” Shalnark said smiling “unfortunately yes” you said under your breath.

This was going to be a terrible interesting mostly terrible adventure. Buckle up!

look, I think Gon and Killua are well liked by their friends and loved ones, but I also think that they’d be just the worst couple on the planet.

like maybe Gon is cold because he’s not used to that type of weather, and instead of Killua giving him his hoodie, they both just wear it at the same time, and yes it looks weird and they’re walking awkwardly but obviously this was the best solution to the problem. and they don’t set out to be That Couple, but they share everything and of course Gon is going to hold out his bubble tea so Killua can try the flavour he got because he said he didn’t want mango, but Gon knows he’ll want to at least taste it, and they’re holding hands so there’s no way to pass it over without letting go.

their friends start specifying that the invite for Boys Night is just for Gon or just for Killua and Yes, they know they’re both boys but last time they just made out in the corner and forgot to socialize.

maybe Killua has come over after school every day since the sixth grade, and Mito loves him, she really does, but suddenly the boys are sixteen and Gon is no longer allowed to close his bedroom door when Killua visits because Gon is not a quiet kid and Mito knows they aren’t studying up there

maybe the Zoldycks go on vacation to the French Riviera for the holidays and Killua is absolutely insufferable the entire time because No One has ever been in love the way he is and How Dare they separate him and Gon, and he racks up an Astonishing phone bill messaging Gon about how stupid everything is and how it’s no fun without him, and here are eleven selfies of him on an exquisite beach Not Smiling because he misses him so much. maybe Gon is slightly better over the holidays but Mito notices he’s been awfully preoccupied with his phone this year and she leans over to look at what he’s doing and ends up seeing the most explicit message from Killua, and Gon is so focused on typing out a response that he doesn’t even notice his aunt reading over his shoulder in horror. Mito calls Ging for the first time in…for the first time ever, and demands that he have The Talk with his son because she can’t look Gon in the eye for at least a week. maybe Ging thinks it’s funny until she tells him what the text said and Ging goes a little bit greenish and mutters something about being thankful they can’t get pregnant

maybe Leorio decides it’s a good idea to gently hint at the possibility that most first relationships don’t work out, and it’s okay to break up before college and Killua is already on his phone playing a game and ignoring him, but Gon is paying attention and is so offended that Leorio could even Suggest that they aren’t soulmates who will be together forever. maybe years later when they’ve all grown up some more it will be cute and sweet how Gon was right, but at the moment it’s annoying and Leorio is secretly dreading the day they break up

maybe they do break up briefly and over something stupid when they’re seventeen and they make it everyone’s problem. the Zoldycks are a pretty emotionally constipated family and they’re really not prepared for seventeen year old heartbroken Killua blasting his breakup music from his room at an eardrum shattering volume. maybe Alluka is the only one who is allowed to enter his room, but Illumi tries it One Time because Kil, you need to turn down your music and come eat dinner with the family, Mother is worr- and he doesn’t get any further than that because Killua has hurled a textbook at his head and Illumi has to duck. the water bill for the next month is absurdly high because Killua discovers that he can lay on his back in his marble shower and stare up at the ceiling while he ruminates over his exquisite heartbreak, and Silva just pays the bill because he can’t deal with it. Gon is no better. he doesn’t stay in his room like Killua, but he finds a way to bring him up at every possible opportunity. he’s doing his science homework at the kitchen table and Mito is making spaghetti when suddenly Gon sighs Loudly and says, “Killua used to love spaghetti,” as if Killua has passed away, and when Mito asks if he wants to talk about the breakup he just sighs again and says no. then they’re eating dinner and Gon sighs again, staring out the window and says how blue the sky is and how Killua had blue eyes too, and when his grandmother asks if Killua died or something, he stands up dramatically and says he’s no longer hungry and leaves the room.

when they finally get back together everyone around them is relieved because they’re even worse when they’re apart

The past few days your friends had been acting weird. Both Killua and Kurapika have been more reserved than usual, Leorio was trying harder to keep conversations short and Gon was super jumpy and fidgety.

You all decided to visit Whale Island together, so why are they being so distant?

What's gotten into them?

Every time you tried to ask, they would all brush you off or walk away before you had the chance.

Now you were left with no choice but to find things out the only way you know how.

Catch Gon alone and interrogate him until he cracks.

Because of his honest nature, it was almost impossible for Gon to keep secrets, especially from the people he cares about.

On this particular day, he happened to be sitting on the side of a river alone with his fishing rod perched in the dirt.

"Hey Gon, I have a question."

The boy's entire body went rigid at the sound of your voice before he whipped around to face you at the speed of light.

"Party, what party? Haha I don't know what you're talking about!"

Your eye's narrowed before you took a step closer.

"But I didn't say anything about a party did I? What are you guys planning huh?"

At this point the dark haired boy was sweating nervously and quite literally shaking in his boots.

"Nothing, no one's planning anything! Uhhh I gotta go, bye Y/n!"

Gon scrambled to grab his fishing rod before making a run for it in the opposite direction.

Damn it he, got away.

After wandering for a few minutes you decided to return back to Gon's home, which his aunt Mito so graciously allowed all of you to stay in. Before entering though, you heard voices from around the corner.

"You idiot, you seriously gave it away that easy!?"

"I'm sorry Killua I couldn't help it! Besides I don't think they know yet-"

Gon stopped upon seeing you round the corner.

"Hey, what are you guys talking about?"

"Uhmm uhh just- MFHH"

Killua slapped his hand over his friend's mouth before he could say anything else before looking at you.

"Gon and I were just going to explore the forest, see ya!"

The white haired boy quickly grabbed his friend by the arm before fleeing from the side of the house.

Huffing you decide not to go into the house and instead sat on the cliffside, feet dangling off the edge as you overlooked the water.

Jeez why is everyone ignoring me today... did I do something wrong?

The two youngest members of your group just keep running away from you every time they have the chance and earlier today Kurapika refused to let you tag along with him to the market place. You haven't even seen Leorio.

Sighing you rest your head on your hands as you stared blankly out at the ocean. You didn't know what to do. None of your friends seemed to want your company and you had been bored and alone all day. The day had passed while you sat thinking to yourself, the sun now setting on the horizon. It's not like you had anything better to do anyways. Before you could spiral even further you felt a tap on your shoulder, turning around to come face to face with Leorio. You felt a little better upon being able to talk to at least one of your friends today.

"Hey, what's the matter? Why are you all mopey and stuff?"

Your face scrunched in annoyance as you recalled everything that happened to you earlier.

"The others have been completely blowing me off and I have no clue why! What did I do to them, huh!?"

Leorio let out a laugh before reaching his hand out to you to help you up.

"I'm sure it's nothing, come on lets go inside."

Upon approaching the front door, the atmosphere seemed to be mysteriously quiet. Leorio pushed the door open to reveal a seeminly empty house, all the lights shut off and curtains closed. When you set foot inside the lights flicked on and everyone jumped out from behind something, popping confetti at you.

"Happy Birthday Y/n!"

Your jaw dropped as you looked around. The space was decorated with balloons and streamers in your favorite colors while the dining table was covered with various dishes (courtesy of aunt Mito).

Tears of joy pricked at the corner of your eyes as you rub them away before they can fall.

"Screw you guys, I thought I did something wrong. Now come here!"

The first person you grabbed was Killua, knowing he'd be the most reluctant of a group hug and the two of you were squished between the other three.

After you were released from the embrace, aunt Mito approached you with a cake that was your favorite flavor, one candle lit at the center.

You rubbed the tears away from your eyes again, not wanting to feel like such a crybaby.

"I love you guys so much!"

Everyone clapped as you blew out your candle, then you went on to spend your special day with the people you care for most.

I wish we'll all be friends forever.

How does Gon feel exactly about Ging?

Hi anon, this is an interesting question to explore, because (at least in my opinion) the answer isn't straightforward. The complexity of how Gon thinks about Ging is one of the beautiful things about HxH, and it says a lot about Gon as a character. It's a hard thing to summarize, but I'll do my best!

Of course, at the beginning we find out Gon is seeking Ging in order to find out what makes being a Hunter so great that someone would leave their own child behind, so even from this point it's not entirely about Ging himself or trying to "regain" him as a family member. It's more about Gon's own worth and how that was damaged by Ging choosing not to stay with Gon, and figuring out what job could be so fulfilling that someone would choose that over raising him. I think the urge to find Ging comes partly from Gon wanting to better understand the context of his existence, but the way he considers this is unusual--it doesn't seem to be so much about the circumstances of his birth or even to confront Ging about why he was left behind, but more along the lines of, "I want to meet the person I came from so I can better understand why my life is the way it is, and learn what it means to be a Hunter like him."

Clearly, Ging leaving him behind has affected Gon deeply--we see this with his self-esteem issues and extreme desire to prove himself, and he tries hard to be as self-sufficient as possible, doing whatever he can to prove that he's worthwhile. I'm sure he's tried his best not to be a burden on Aunt Mito, which might be part of where his self-sufficiency comes from. But at the same time, it's clear Gon has a degree of admiration for Ging, and with how the people he meets on his journey talk about Ging, it makes sense that Gon gains this deep respect for him as a Hunter and wants to know more about who he is and what he's done in his life.

An attribute of Gon's character that I think is interesting and unique to him is that he accepts people as they are, generally without expecting them to change or being particularly concerned about their morality. He has this immense respect for peoples' agency and free will, and he's super curious about people regardless of what kinds of people they are. Hence why he's immediately able to accept Killua without issues, even with Killua's background. This applies to Ging, too--rather than resenting or hating Ging for leaving him behind, he assumes Ging must have a good reason and he's more interested in understanding that good reason than trying to force Ging to take a role in his life that he clearly doesn't want. He must have grappled with this at some point I think, but by the time we see him in the series, he doesn't seem to have framed the issue in ways you would normally expect from a child who was left behind, blaming or resenting the parent.

It's telling that Gon switches over to using "Ging" instead of referring to him as his dad during the Whale Island visit. This makes it even more clear that what Gon's seeking is not really "his dad," but rather finding Ging is a more abstract goal, and he sees Ging less as his relative, but more as his own individual. Gon even says something along those lines after he meets Ging.

And indeed, when he does find Ging he enjoys talking to him, trading stories and getting advice, but Gon doesn't ask to stay with him or really impose upon him much at all beyond getting to know him better and learning what kind of person he is. It's interesting to me that Gon says (twice, even) if he could have felt Ging's aura he might have stayed with him, but I wonder if that's really the case. Would Gon have really insisted on that, and would Ging have accepted it? There's no way to know, but I wonder. It's hard for me to picture, personally.

But Ging is who Gon calls about losing his nen, so they must have traded contact info and agreed that they could stay in touch at the very least. So, Gon has some desire for a continuing relationship, even if it's not a very close one.

I think Gon is aware that his view on Ging is unusual--there's this scene:

Of course Gon says it's a joke, but I think this is more a comment on how he doesn't really see Ging as a father or feel a strong desire to stay with him, and it's also maybe a bit of a jab at himself for leaving Aunt Mito behind to find Ging in the first place.

I love how unconventional Gon's views on Ging are--it's something that makes the series unique, and gives Gon's search a different nature and meaning than if he were a kid simply looking for his parent because he misses him and wants his dad in his life. And I love that, in the act of finding Ging, he ends up with the message of the series, both from Ging's mouth and in the abstract--that ultimately the journey and the people he spent time with on his journey have more meaning to him than the person he spent all this time seeking.

You came back into your situation by patching Killua up "Damn.." Killua hissed at the stinging sensation from the applied hydrogen peroxide on a wound on his cheekbone "shut it, it's your fault for acting so reckless" you say looking at Killua with a stern but concentrated look while putting a band-aid on his wound and Killua couldn't help but admire your beautiful face the way your eyes gleamed with concern and emotion which made him fall in love with you more so the ever

Killua shook his head getting rid of those thoughts and narrowed his eyes " That doesn't matter Nick/name he was obviously trying to piss me off!....flirting with you.....touching you......" Killua muttered the last part

A Bad Case of Boredom

It's been about two weeks since Gon and Killua arrived back to Whale Island, the place where Gon grew up with his wonderful aunt Mito and grandmother. Things were going great! Killua adjusted to the new environment nicely and rather quickly too! Aunt Mito was very welcoming, and he really enjoyed staying with them.

They had been exploring and mainly spent their time outside, but today was the kind of day that Gon dreaded the most. It was pouring rain outside. Gon loved the rain, yes, it did great things for the grass and the wildlife. However, he hated being forced to stay inside because of it. He was used to nature, running around the open feilds, climbing trees and overall being free. The rain restricted all of that which brings us to the present.

Gon sighed as his legs bounced up and down on the floor as they hung over the side of his bed. Killua, who had been trying to meditate, looked over gently at the greenette with one eye open before he too sighed and turned to face him,

"What's wrong Gon?" He asked both concerned and curious

"The rain"

"The rain?" Killua cocked an eyebrow, now more confused than before

"We can't go outside, I love the benefits the rain gives for nature, but I hate being stuck inside with nowhere to go and nothing to do!" He complained as he flopped back onto his bed dramatically.

'Ah' Killua thought to himself before he slightly smiled "There's plenty to do inside Gon, for starters you could meditate with me and practice your ten"

That comment earned another sigh from the enhancer

"Alright fine, hmm" the white haired boy sat in thought as he tried to think of ways to entertain his best friend, a single raindrop hit the windowsill when it clicked in Killuas mind, his signature cat like smirk spread across his features as he sat up and hovered over Gon,

"I have the perfect idea~"

Gon shoot up in excitement as he looked at Killua with bright eyes

"Really?!"

Killua only smiled brighter as he nodded "Yep! It's your favorite" his voice got a little deeper towards the end of his sentence which made Gon gulp and giggle a little as he scooted backwards on his bed until he hit the headboard gently.

"Kihillua?"

Killua smirked again before he pounced onto his best friend. The two started a mini wrestling match, rolling around on the green covers, giggling their heads off before anything happened yet as they both tried to get the upper hand. Gon knew what Killua's intentions were, he sensed it in his aura and with knowing him that well, and with his boredom he was more excited than ever for this moment, but he was stubborn too and was not going down that easily.

"Give it up Gon!"

"Never!"

"Fair enough, you asked for it" Gon had the upper hand as they spoke, but Killua quickly swipped the tips of his fingers over Gon's side as Gon's arms wobbled out from under him and he fell onto Killuas chest. Killua smiled and, with one quick motion, turned Gon onto his back, holding his arms above his head with one hand as he sat over his hips.

"Someone wanted tickles huh Gon?~" he teased as Gon's cheeks flushed a quiet pink

"How did you figure it out?!"

"It was easy, one, I know you, and two, you would've never gone down that quickly otherwise~"

Gon looked away with a playful smile before they both giggled together.

"Are you ready Gon?~" he smirked as he wiggled his fingers just inches above Gon's stomach

"Kihihilluaaaaa!" Gon complained through his giggles as his legs bounced gently behind him, this time with joy

"Fihinneee Tickle Tickle Tickleee~" He smiled brightly as he let go of Gon's hands and darted them over to pinch and scribble all over his sides

"KIhihilluahaha! ThaHahat TihiHickles!" Gon squeaked and wiggled as much as he could but made no real effort to fight it

"That's the point idiot, plus your giggles are too cute, so what's the problem?~" He spoke so nonchalantly it made Gon question to himself what was worse, that or his tease voice

"NohoHo FaHaHair!" His laughter picked up the pace as Killua moved his fingers up to his ribs, making sure he got all of the in-between spots, leaving no spot untickled. Gon arched his back a little as he tried to lightly push at Killuas' hands.

"You know Gon, you got seriously injured back at Hevean's arena, I should make sure you still have all of your ribs" Killua dragged his fingers back down his ribs as Gon giggled out an excuse,

"NOhoHo! KihihilluaAhA! I heHealed! ReHehember?!"

"Hmm, I don't remember. A thorough checkup is in order, and since Leorio isn't here to do it, I guess it's up to me! Don't worry, Gon, this won't hurt a bit~" Killua smiled again as he skittered up and down the length of his ribs before starting from the bottom and going up slowly tracing each individual rib while he counted.

"Oneeee, Twoooooo, Threeeee, Foooourrr, Fivveee- hmm? What's this?~" Killua paused as he found a particularly ticklish rib on Gon's left side, where he got injured previously thanks to Geto,

"I think getting hit with that spinning top made this rib more ticklish then the others"

"WohAHAhAh!-" Gon snorted gently as he broke out into more genuine laughter as Killua scribbled and gently scratched over that rib alone "KiHIHIhilLUAHaHa!"

"Woah! You snorted! Haha do it again!"

"NOHoHo!"

"Fine, have it your way" Killua shrugged before his hands quickly made their way down to his stomach, going right under the light fabric of Gon's black tank top

"AHAHAHA KIHIHILLUAHAHAHA NOHOHOT THEHEHERE!"

"And why not?~ doesn't it tickle? I'm confused"

"YEHEHES! IHIHIT TIHIHICKLES ALOHOHOT! THAHAT'S WHY!"

"That's a good thing gigglebug"

Gon's face turned bright red as the kicking got faster as he tried to curl up on himself but couldn't

"Ohhhh I think I get it now, this is your tickle spot!" Killua spoke as if this was completely new information, causing Gon to groan a little at his antics

"KIHIHILLUAHAHAHA!"

"Yes Gon?~"

"HAHAHAHA!" Gon threw his head back in genuine laughter which made Killua giggle a little before he took a deep breath and blew a gaint raspberry directly into his bellybutton

"AHAHA KIHIHILLUAHAHAHA IHIHIT TIHIHICKLES!"

"Okahay okay!" He gently got off of him and patted his arm "you okay, Gon?"

"Haha YEAH!" He tackled Killua in a hug "You're the best Killua!"

"You're so embarrassing" He scoffed as he smiled as he hugged him back.

Killua reunited with a friend

He couldn't believe it, after so many years of wondering if perhaps he had dreamed of you instead of you being a real person, here you were on Whale Island working in a bakery

You used to live in the Republic of Padokea when you were younger, and quite near Kukuro Mountain too. While you never knew why your parents told you to never step near the mountain, you enjoyed seeing it from your window every now and then. One day, you were at the park with your mother when a kid took your mini toy car model and ran with it. Shouting at the boy, you chased him around the park until you two both tripped and fell into a pile of leaves. That's where the friendship started

It was around this time when Alluka followed Killua around everywhere he went. His parents didn't think much of it during this time and neither did you. Honestly, you liked having another friend and Alluka was the nicest person you had ever met. You never got to experience Nanika when she was around, but sometimes she did ask you to give her your toy car.

Killua liked being able to leave the house, the whole mountain actually. It was super rare, but it was once a month for him (mainly because his parents approved of it) with a butler in tow but it was worth it. He loved playing grounders with you (if you don't know what this game is, basically one person who is "it" walks around closing their eyes, yelling grounder every so often, and anyone who is on the ground has to be it. It's extremely dangerous as most kids will be on slides, playground infrastructure, etc. and the poor "it" has to bump into metal every now and then). What he really liked was that you would listen to him. Though you two were only about 6 years old, he could tell you about anything in his life and you would keep it a secret, you would listen to him, and you seemed to understand him. He wished you could have been his older sibling honestly, and he wanted to show you around his home. Too bad the butler, with a horrified expression, said no.

One day, during 12:05pm exactly, Killua didn't show up. Then the next month, then the one after that. It was as if they had vanished completely, but you knew that they were likely still in that mountain. Of course, when you told your friends you had a friend that lived on the mountain they thought you were lying, but your parents were concerned. They knew that meant you met a Zoldyck, never the best idea. Thus, you ended up moving to Whale Island

Your mother ran a bakery while your father was abroad in the United States of Saherta working in construction. Because of that, you ended up helping your mother with her bakery when you had time. Years had passed and now you were mastering macarons when suddenly Gon, a neighboring friend of yours, said he had a new friend. You excitedly went to visit Aunt Mito's home to see a familiar Silver-haired boy

"Killua?" You stood at the doorway in shock. Killua also looked surprised, almost teary-eyed when he saw you. "No way, y/n?" his voice was barely a whisper but you heard him clearly. "Y-yeah, from the playground like six years ago!"

Gon didn't know the friend you were talking about was Killua, so he was super happy he got to see you guys meet each other again. All three of you caught up on what was going on in your lives and you found out about the Hunter Exam, Killua's brother, but nothing about Alluka. You wanted to ask, but it seemed like Killua didn't want to share anything, so you held yourself back

Though Killua wanted you to travel the world with him and Gon, he knew that without nen it wasn't going to be a safe trip. He wanted you to be safe, he didn't want to see you injured. With the Phantom Troupe, his brother, and potentially countless other dangers ahead, he couldn't risk it. So, he just told you, in his usual tsundere way, that he thought you wouldn't survive because you were too weak.

"Nah, I can fight them off, I caught you when you tried to run away with my toy car all those years ago," you laughed. You wanted to join Gon and Killua's journey too, but you had to take care of your family business and you didn't know if you could learn nen in a short few days.

Before you knew it, you were waving goodbye to your friends, telling them to be safe and to keep you updated on their adventures. Killua promised to visit when he had the chance. Of course, the next time you would see them would be in front of the World Tree, and that would be the place where you got to see Alluka again. But for now, you could only hope nothing too bad happens to your close friends.

Summary: "…Chocolate. Killua has procured a very extensive snack collection."

Gon isn’t sure he’ll ever completely understand just how, exactly, Killua had apparently once managed to spend a full ten million dollars on only a year or two’s worth of snacks.

Even without the influence of Aunt Mito’s watchful eyes, Gon’s diet has remained fairly healthy during the course of their adventure. And Leorio could really only take, like, twenty percent responsibility for that. The only times he ever really indulged was when Killua was trying a particularly interesting new snack—which, to be fair, was pretty often—but the point still remains that he literally can’t wrap his head around how it’s even possible to spend that much money so quickly.

Killua once sat him down and tried to explain the logistics of it, recreating the specific budget plan and everything in his tight, messy scrawl. Something about inflation, scarcity bias, monopolies, and commodity investments. As soon as numbers started getting involved, though, Gon feared the whole thing might make his brain explode. It made him feel pretty bad, honestly. He was genuinely curious, and Killua was trying really hard to be patient and explain it all, dumbing his words down progressively further until his words sounded like some kind of jumble between caveman-speak and yet-undefined-technical jargon.

Well, it’s probably best that Gon sticks to more targeted problem-solving, anyways. The Greed Island stuff had made a lot more sense to him because they had such a specific goal in mind. He’s happy to let Killua take the reigns with the bigger-picture economic stuff; it’s just another cool product of his training, and Gon doesn’t see the point in trying to outclass his expertise like that.

Gon learns best through example, anyway. And in this case, he hopes he never gets an example to learn from.

They’re staying at a quaint little inn for the moment, one with a cute modern exterior and a surprisingly roomy two-bed. It’s erected right next to a candy shop, which is pretty exciting, too. Gon and Killua had a wonderful time pressing their faces against the glass display cases, admiring the eclectic assemblage of all sorts of treats from around the world. Gon had elected to purchase a pack of vanilla bean candies and one of those cool lollipops with a scorpion inside, but strangely enough, Killua hadn’t wanted anything. Maybe he was feeling naseous after Gon had spent a solid ten minutes trying to convince him to try a lick of his lollipop, employing the tried-and-true sales pitch of waving it around a mere two inches away from his face.

That was a few hours ago, now.

Gon wipes some sweat from his brow as he steps into their inn room without knocking, having just grown bored of chasing butterflies down the street (he’s never seen this species before!) He can see Killua slouched on the table next to the radio, possibly asleep. But Gon knows better than to expect that he’ll continue sleeping for long now that there’s another person in the room. He doesn’t take it personally, really, since he knows Killua has to be cautious like that. It’s just the way he is.

He’s a little hungry, so he heads into the kitchenette. It’s a tiny thing, furnished with only a minifridge and a hot plate on the counter, plugged into a slightly dangerous-looking exposed outlet. They should still have some leftovers stuffed into a styrofoam take-out container somewhere in there, some kind of noodle dish with tofu and bean sprouts. Gon isn’t sure what it’s called, but they had something similar back at home, and he remembers that it was always delicious cold.

The fridge hums loudly, almost like a sigh. Gon begins to open the door, and four things happen in very quick succession.

The little light inside flickers on with an annoyed, electric grumble, just as his hand overpowers the suction-like force holding the door closed.

Three boxes of mint chocolate cookies tumble out with three sequential thwacks, each one landing neatly atop the other on the floor.

Gon can hear and feel something falling against the inside of the door, so he rushes to slip his hand through the side and extracts two more boxes.

Now reasonably sure nothing horrible will happen, he opens the fridge door the rest of the way.

The inside is packed with a smorgasbord of all sorts of treats: at least ten more boxes of mint chocolate cookies, a section of packaged mooncakes and mochis stuffed so tightly together it kind of looks like a giant fungal growth, barricaded by an interlocked gummy bear fencing. There’s a layer of half-melted blackcurrant popsicles behatting a small tower of tupperwares jam-packed with assorted chocolate truffles. It’s all kind of formed a little ecosystem of precarious balance—almost grotesque, in a way, seeing the sheer amount of stuff that’s been tetrised into the tiny space, all organized like a little cityscape.

Gon blinks at the patchwork of commercial color, blinks again.

Closes it.

“Killua?” He calls.

“Mm?” Killua replies, having evidently just woken up. His voice is still sleepy and thick in a way it normally isn’t, and it’s kind of cute, in that kittycat way, like an I know exactly what I did wrong but you can’t be mad at me because I’m so cute kinda cute.

“What’s with the fridge?”

A silence follows before Killua says, “You think it’s too much…?”

It’s a dangerous tone. Not in the way that means Killua’s mad, but more in the way that means Killua’s embarrassed. Gon knows this means that there’s a correct and an incorrect answer, and he better not get it wrong.

“No,” he says slowly.

“M’kay,” Killua says. “Cool.”

“Cool.”

And, okay, it’s not a lie—sure, it seems a little excessive, but Gon knows Killua is just kind of like that sometimes, and he doesn’t actually mind. It’s not like they’re really struggling for money, and if they run out, there’s nothing stopping them from just returning to the Heavens Arena (Leorio had definitely been right to become a Hunter so he could make more money).

Killua also sometimes gets weirdly defensive about it, in that way where Gon knows it’s really about something else that he doesn’t want to talk about. So, since it’s not a problem, and since Killua doesn’t want to talk about it, Gon is fine with just letting it happen without too much pushback.

He heads to the small pantry instead, mildly hopeful that he won’t find it in similar shape.

Gon opens the pantry door.

Gon closes the pantry door.

Well, wait a minute—he opens it back up against his better judgment—there’s something interesting in here. Standing on the tips of his toes, he reaches into the depths of the pantry, sinking down to the elbow through bags of pickle-flavored chips, fizzy rock candy, and an assortment of Popin’Cookin’s, and dislodges a package from the back. The dim kitchen light reveals its contents: seaweed snacks, apparently. The package is illustrated with a few pieces of nori, glazed with almond slices and sesame seeds. Curious, Gon tears it open and pops one into his mouth.

“Hey, Killua?” he calls again, his mouth still half-full.

“What’s up?”

Gon pads into the little living room where Killua is still sitting, head cradled in his arms with that sleepy-alert look (he really is like a cat sometimes, isn’t he?).

“Let’s get some more of this seaweed stuff later! It’s really good.”

He blinks, then straightens up a little. “…Yeah?”

“Yeah,” Gon confirms. “It’ll be fun! You always shop for this kind of stuff on your own.”

The expression that Killua makes next is, in Gon’s opinion, pretty rewarding. Really, being friends with Killua on its own is very rewarding, but Gon especially loves being able to notice how he’s really feeling in moments like this: gratitude, in a quiet sort of way. His face doesn’t change, but he definitely stares a little too long, taking his time to wrap his head around it.

“Okay,” he says finally. “Let’s go tomorrow.”

Even if he can be a little disarming at times, Gon seriously loves being friends with Killua.

Hxh headcannons!!

(I’m going through insane writers block rn but I need to keep posting so here some scrumptious headcannons)

Hisoka: he went to a carnival one time and got mistaken for a worker.

Illumi: he 100% knows how to breakdance, convince me otherwise.

Leorio: he once tried venting to Killua and gon and they laughed at him(they thought he was joking)

Killua: has zero cooking skills and claims he’s the master chef.

Kurapika: he listens to country, indie, and jazz music.

Shalnark: he drops the most insane lore and never elaborates on it.

Feitan: makes the most out of pocket, absurd comments known to man. (That’s actually semi cannon)

Nobunaga: often forgets what day of the week it is.

Phinks: despite being an air head he knows a lot of strange and interesting facts.

Shalnark: he knows how to help deliver a baby.(don’t ask him why because he refuses to tell people why)

Alluka: she loves flutter shy and pinkie pie from mlp. She is my little pony’s number 1 fan.

Head chair man netoro: he has some INSANE grandpa lore and constantly drops his lore like it’s nothing.

Ging freecs: he has a really big pet peeve about socks and sandals. He secretly used to wear socks and sandals but no one will ever know.

Aunt mito: she knows some really weird facts about the human body.

Bisky: tried making sushi and it caught on fire. She wasn’t even using anything hot.

Machi: either burns down the kitchen or manages to make a 5 star meal there is no in between.

Pakunoda: when she was younger she liked boy bands. She would dig through the rubble in meteor city looking for boy band CDs.
