I don't think andrew would kill neil though like he loves him so much he loves neil more than he loves kevin.

I disagree personally! Not at that point in the books, anyway.

Andrew trusted Neil to take care of Kevin. Andrew’s deal with Kevin is to keep him safe from Riko. If Kevin ends up going to the nest, regardless of what happens to him there, that’s the ONE thing Andrew had to do. Don’t let Riko near him. Protect him from Riko.

He started trusting Neil after he protected Kevin from Riko at Kathy’s show and there was nothing Andrew could do - everything is for and about Kevin for him.

Then Andrew comes back from Easthaven and Kevin is dead, gone or injured because Neil didn’t hold up his end of the deal to keep him safe? Neil goes to the nest: he said he’d keep him safe, not stay by his side all the time etcetcetc. Whatever. Kevin goes to the nest: not good.

We already know (at least as far as I remember anyway) Andrew would’ve never forgiven Neil after Baltimore if he hadn’t gotten him to break his promise to keep Neil safe. Kevin going to the nest causes Neil to break his promise to Andrew, in turn causing Andrew to break the one promise that’s keeping him there. Andrew’s “purpose” is Kevin. And then he comes back, suddenly unmedicated (which was the whole basis behind their deal anyway) and Kevin is hurt?

We saw how important the deals and promises were to him. So yeah, I do think that Andrew would hate Neil if he was the reason why he broke his promise to Kevin. If Kevin died, or he was never able to play again, I fully believe that Andrew would have to kill Neil, or make him leave. He has no real ties to him beyond the “side effect of the drugs” crush he has on him at this point. That being said he obviously did say he would protect Neil, but I think this would be a scenario where him pulling out of the deal would be justified.

when asked why he isn't mandating them he says he tried but the venues won't allow it

many people don't listen, or don't see the ask bc it isn't official from the venue, and show up maskless

Neil now has COVID (for a second time, which means his risk of complications is higher) along with anyone else who got infected at that event

I just. y'all. please. 

If you are going to a fan event, especially a big one like a con where there will be tons of people, you need to be wearing a mask right now. Actors and other people who work in entertainment who meet with many people and frequent large gatherings or are part of con staff for instance are at significant risk of COVID from the sheer amount they are being exposed to, not only from acute infection but cumulative damage from multiple infections or long COVID and post COVID complications. COVID levels are nearly as high as they were in the first wave in 2020 and being vaccinated does not guarantee u cannot catch and/or transmit it(this study from this year says it's around 1 in five). Please be excellent to each other and do your best to not get your faves, their staff, or other fans sick. 

why and how masks work and what types are the safest (you can get good masks in all sorts of colors now btw if u want to match ur cosplay or stuff, ProjectN95 is a good source, and Jelli has clear masks if u want to have ur face visible)

I wish Neil a speedy and full recovery, and I hope more people listen to him and others trying to keep fans and creators and staff safe right now ❤️

“It was him.” Andrew says, absolutely positive. “Unless there’s some idiot out there so obsessed with him that they’d get a tattoo to match him. Well, besides the one the Ravens buried two years ago.”

“Um,” a pair of blue eyes widen at that statement and Andrew is vindicated. 

“Um?” Andrew repeats.

“We… don’t have any employees named Kevin,” the waiter says, glancing over his shoulder at the door. “But if you need anything, please let me know.”

“How are we going to do that if you’re hiding in the kitchen?” Andrew asks. Aaron laughs and Nicky makes a noise across from him.

“Jesus Christ, Andrew!” He says with a look before turning towards the clearly exasperated waiter. “I’m sorry about him. He’s just hangry. The salads look great. Thanks.”

“You’re welcome,” says the weaselly waiter. And then he hightails it back to the kitchen. Andrew watches him go, appreciating the view. He only picks up his fork once the door shuts between him and the only bit of decor this restaurant seems to have.

Kiss Fans Special

Today I don't want to write so much about the music of our favorite band, but for a change just about the people who probably know this music best and certainly listen to it most often.

What else could I mean but the loyal hardcore fanbase, of which I of course also count myself among? So what better occasion to take a long look at one of these Kiss-specialized fan forums and hopefully let the experiences I've had there speak a little for themselves.

If you are interested in a certain band, especially if it has accompanied you for a large part of your life, then this circumstance can lead to you coming across a forum like this not just by chance. Once you've thought about registering with a profile, you're almost automatically drawn into it. And then you're right in the middle of everything.

This works in a similar way to what one could imagine as downsizing. You find yourself in a microcosm, so to speak, or rather in a virtual suburb where you also live, depending on how much time you intend to spend there, and where you more or less settle in. You then have your little house and lots and lots of neighbors, from all across the world. The ones you see every day and the ones you only bump into now and then from more remote corners. Not running into each other is virtually impossible. And of course there are quite a few nice, warm, humorous and intellectually gifted people there. It goes without saying that communication with these people works accordingly and is usually a pleasure.

Unfortunately, however, there are also those who regularly hang around for whom this description is far less accurate. You can think of it more or less like the constantly drunk, loud neighbor who specializes in faecal language and is constantly peeing compulsively in other people's front gardens. And there are quite a few of these fellows, and they all tend to have the same preference. Of course, this multiplies with each other and you end up with a whole lot of gardens. Among their peers, however, they don't practice this as a kind of matter of decency. So much for the social framework conditions.

The mayor of this place then makes sure that everything stays as it is. Because it works well that way, as he probably thinks, but I can only interpret that from his approach, because anyone who steps out of line within this natural order is therefore deprived of the right to live there as a consequence of this misbehavior. Many of the members who have suffered this fate often feel the urge to be downsized again as quickly as possible and return disguised with a false beard and glasses. Why is that? I'd like to say I don't know, but I happen to know the answer. So that we they can continue the never ending discussion, what else?

Speaking of discussion. The discussions are about everything, literally everything that revolves around Kiss, Kiss itself and the Kiss family of course, and about the music, because Kiss are a band after all. People share what they like about the music, but above all what they don't like about it. This is often combined with criticism of 12-50 year old albums and suggestions as to what the band should have done differently. The words "should have" are probably the most frequently used words in general on this forum. But the criticism I'm talking about is not just limited to the music, but everything the band has ever done, including their personal lives of course.

And top ten lists are important, incredibly important in fact. Whenever and wherever someone lists even just three favorite songs or albums, many, many submissions of the personal, usually very different favorites of all readers inevitably and unsolicitedly follow, triggering a sudden chain reaction. Top 5 or 10 list threads are always a guarantee for a large number of comments.

I probably don't need to mention that very different opinions, often hardened over decades, are predestined to clash, which is not exactly a rarity, but routine. Many of the members there have known each other for many years and are fully aware of their differing views. However, this factor has no influence on the ongoing conflicts, on the contrary.

I really like to think of the content and opinions brought into these "discussions" as a broken pinball machine with only one ball in it. By this I mean that no new ball can get into the pinball machine, and the ball that is in there cannot get out again. This circumstance can have a certain appeal for a certain period of time, but I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to say. I myself danced this tango there for six months, sometimes more, sometimes less, but at some point you just leave the dance floor and you've had enough of dancing around forever.

But I tell you something, dear people, Once you've left this place and when you're no longer a member, everything is suddenly very quiet, and all those voices around you suddenly fall silent, peace reigns again, and everything is just fine the way it is.

I have to confess, I still like to take a quick look at this particular fan forum more than just occasionally. You know how it is with bad habits:

They're hard to get rid of.

And because my blog is not least about the music of our favorite band, I don't want to neglect this fact any longer. At this point I can't think of a more suitable song than Rock and Roll Nite in the original version. Happy Groundhog Day!

Neil Gaiman should be fucking drawn and quartered in a public square. the vulture article is one of the most horrific accounts of sexual abuse i've ever read in my life. disgusting and depraved beyond comprehension. i can't wrap my head around how this man wrote such warm and empathetic and thoughtful stories and preached for years about inclusivity and representation and championed fans etc etc only to have been doing this utterly depraved shit behind closed doors. i genuinely feel physically ill. kill him. and Amanda Palmer too for knowing and not only staying silent, but pushing vulnerable women his way too. she's an accomplice and they will both rot in hell.

the year is 2006. you’re an avid fan of collegiate exy. kevin day recently transferred from the best team in the league to the worst after breaking his hand in a skiing accident. before the season starts, janie smalls attempts suicide. she’s a fox, so absolutely no one is surprised by this. however, this means that david wymack has to find a new striker. he picks up a neglected, unremarkable kid from millport. for some reason, this mysterious nobody thinks it’s okay to publicly humiliate riko moriyama, king of exy. apparently, neil josten and kevin day talk shit about riko all the time (this confuses you. kevin and riko are supposed to be best friends). not long after, seth gordon dies of an overdose. once again, it’s the foxes, so no one should be surprised, but something is… off. seth was clean, and it didn’t seem likely for him to throw it away. the foxes don’t get anyone to replace him. despite being short a player, they’re performing better than ever before. you don’t want to admit it, but neil josten can probably be credited with a lot of the foxes success. and something is off about that kid, too. he’s a 5’3 brunette with brown eyes, and then suddenly he’s not. he comes back from winter break with red hair and blue eyes, but more interesting than that is the number four tattooed onto his face, marked for the ravens, marked for the perfect court. the normal minyard twin murders someone in cold blood. neil josten is actually nathaniel wesninski. his father, the butcher of baltimore, tortures him and burns his tattoo off. the trojans throw away their shot at winning. kevin covers up his tattoo with a queen chess piece. he’s never been skiing, the theories behind what happened to his hand are endless. jean moreau transfers to the trojans. this isn’t helping with the abuse allegations. despite everything stacked against them, the foxes beat the ravens. the unhinged minyard twin shatters riko’s hand to stop him from murdering the mafia kid on live tv. for some reason, this is riko’s final straw and he kills himself. some people are blaming kevin, andrew, and neil, but you personally believe that it’s a tad bit dramatic to commit suicide after losing one game and breaking a hand. the rest of the ravens don’t seem to agree, as they’re all suddenly in the most fucked up game of “follow the leader” known to man. jean moreau is spotted being escorted from the foxes dorm room a bloody mess, but that’s only the beginning. one of the ravens stabs himself with a letter opener, another steps onto the subway tracks, and a third overdoses. it’s 2007, and you started saying that the ravens were in a cult as a joke, but you don’t know if it’s a joke anymore. you’re seriously starting to consider that your favorite sport was created solely as a front for the mafia

Somethin about Andrew Minyard who shoves himself face first into danger no matter what risk it poses to himself

Being 5 feet even and still taking on four grown men who try to beat up Nicky outside of Edens.

Knowing his twin brother for less than a few months and willingly killing Tilda, even planning on himself dying in the process if need be.

Andrew willingly putting himself in direct harms way if it means protecting those he loves, while unwilling to put those same people in a even slightly potentially dangerous position.

Andrew who deals with Aarons withdrawals on his own, sat outside a locked bathroom door to intermittently slide his brother new food, water, and clothes. Unwilling to risk sending his brother to a place where he knows people in high positions would be willing to abuse their power, willing to hurt Aaron.

Andrew who despite knowing all of this and making sure Aaron never had to witness it, goes through his own withdrawls at easthaven, knowing what kind of abuse could and would happen to him.

Andrew who promises to protect Kevin and Neil. He knows theyre lying to him and he knows he doesnt know the full truth of who they are and what (who) exactly he is protecting them from.

But he also knows it helps Kevin to have a buddy system to lean on, to have someone who can shove his way through a crowd of exy fans all trying to get at Kevin, both fans and haters of him following his Ravens departure.

The way Neil describes Andrew as being a wall he can lean on and know he wont tilt under the weight of Neil’s past and current issues.

Somethin somethin about Neil looking at Andrew and seeing Andrew in a way no one else can. A way no one else has.

Neil looks at Andrew and sees how his carefully created stony exterior is a way to protect his family, by taking on the brunt of the negative attention from others. Both the other foxes, exy fans, his own classmates.

The rest of the foxes cant hate Aaron or Nicky the most if Andrew is always the one acting out to take all of their feelings of hatred on himself.

And no one recognizes this until Neil.

Neil who sees the way Andrew loves his family so much that hes willing to let them hate him as long as theyre safe.

Neil who knows Aaron thinks Andrew hates him and goes to Katelyn directly to tell her she needs to push to get Aaron into group sessions with Bee to fix his and Andrews relationship, because if Andrew or Neil were the one to suggest it Aaron would be against it.
