You ever think about Shaun and Danse interacting and cry a lil bit
#theodoor (renamed synth shaun) struggles w/ being a copy of a contentious evil man#and being used as bait#and being taken in by that mans father as a pity child. not what was wanted but there anyway#and feels urges to act a certain way even after gus gets his ideal programming outta there#and resents basically everything and everyone involved in his existence#because he isnt just a lure. hes a doll. hes a toy made by a cruel and heartless man. made to be exactly like him#and every time he feels any negative emotion he feels like Shaun won and got his clone#every time he feels positive emotion he feels like a puppet carrying out Shauns wishes to be the ideal child#and DANSE eventually comes to terms with his nature/himself in general and gets better. and as he slowly starts entering a relationship#with gus he starts noticing /hey this kid is going through something similar/#/i suffered this but at least i was free to do as i wanted. teddy is a child & hes meant to be a specific child that he cannot possibly be/#and danse notices that teddy is squeamish around science because he wants to distance himself from shaun#so he takes him under his wing. /you wanna see how a laser works?/ and gets him to see that science is not a force of evil#but a tool to be used. Shaun used it for his ego but Danse uses it to protect the others. Isa uses it to heal the wasteland.#Curie uses science to save people and heal their pain. he shows him /you know better. so you wont become him. you literally couldn’t./#like. teddy has a lot of issues being put on the spot to be the missing boy come home. but not being that boy#and danse gets it. he had issues after building his existence on being a paladin and model soldier only to be the Enemy#he gets trying so hard and wanting so bad to be one thing or fully the other. not be in that awful middle ground where its all confusing#and danse figures out over time that the Institute made m797 but he - his choices and his experience - made Danse#and its the same for teddy. and the kid gets along better having someone who can closest understand what he feels#ss; alter#bc teddy is gus' kid so he goes in the tag

i've been reading catching fire for the first time this year and i don't, personally, think that the quarter quell was a "smart move" for snow and the capitol even if things went the way that he wanted them to and katniss and peeta and all the rest died and he got a victor he could control. sure, it would have taken out katniss. but taking out katniss wasn't actually going to be the quick fix he wanted it to be.
because even the capitol citizens were upset about all of this. the capitol citizens, who had grown so used to having pretty victors to smush together like dolls and gush over and show that people from the districts CAN do something and make their lives better. it's the american bootstraps ideal made hideously manifest.
yes, they've been fed this propaganda diet that the games are proper retribution for a crime that happened a lifetime ago, but they're also supposed to bring out these Ideals TM the capitol claims to hold to and then the Beautiful Shiny Model Minority winner gets fame and fortune and safety and a promotion into capitol society. because they beat the odds and they won all these things! they *deserve* this!
now all of the privileged masses have these strong parasocial relationships where they thought they'd see their favorite athletes become safe and glamorous and happy. the social contract says that the capitol citizens get to have these lovely dolls to play with and now he's taking their toys away in a way that shows the propaganda never held any truth in the first place. if we don't actually value these people and what they represent, then why do we actually do it? (it's the cruelty. but the average capitol citizen doesn't understand that the cruelty is the point, because it took snow years and years and years of building up that Capacity for Cruelty, and most people never get to that point. there has to be a pretty facade over this for it to run smoothly for those average citizens like the prep team. and now it's not there anymore.)
and that's not even mentioning the different sort of horror this becomes for the districts, as the idea that's been sold to the wealthier districts is that if these children win they get fame and fortune and protection for life. but you're dragging them back into the horror that was supposed to buy their eternal glory? the careers aging out this year don't even have their "chance" in the arena to make their mark and gain their fortune. they'll just be losing some of their mentors in a pointless rehash.
in the poorer districts, perhaps there is some relief because their kids are safe this year but that means their only victors are being shipped off to die instead. and then their kids who won't have a chance in hell next year! because the hunger games are a perpetual motion exploitation machine, and the only way people were able to be numbed to it was figuring out the rules and then gritting their teeth and living their lives. but the rules are out the window, now. those rules that were supposed to make this terrible system something they could navigate and grit their teeth and suffering through are being blown to bits because snow tried to stomp out the tiniest embers instead of letting them burn out.

What started as a joke with @kittyacelia about making FNAF animatronics ACTUALLY kid-friendly, ended up snowballing into an exercise in character design and world-building.
We call them Nanny Animatronics (since "Toy" and "Plush" have already been taken). They're far softer with pastel palettes, rubber teeth with plush exteriors to avoid accidentally hurting children! They're all housed under a pizzaplex type building that functions Entirely as a daycare.
I'll add extra notes about them individually under a readmore!
Nanny Freddy is the one kids go to for advice and generic help. He's super comforting, makes his rounds across the daycare saying hello to everyone. He gives GREAT bearhugs and specializes in calming down tantrums or panic attacks.
Nanny Chica loves playing house with children! She teaches general safety, like how to properly interact with stoves or electrical outlets. She's also equipped with a database of every kid's food allergies, and makes sure nobody eats anything they're not supposed to! Her cupcake (unpictured) is named Sugar and is basically just a fully sentient stress ball toy that loves to be thrown and fidgeted with.
Nanny Bonnie is the music teacher, and loves to help kids stay in touch with their louder and excitable sides. He loves to listen to kids talk about whatever they may be interested in, and has a learning database equipped with trivia to hold conversations with kids about any topic. He's the one children infodump to!
Nanny Foxy is the smallest of the bunch, and he loves to run around with the kids! He will play pretend with children, and is even equipped with the ability to detect injury and proper First Aid knowledge to help if a kid trips and hurts themselves while playing.
Nanny Monty is the art teacher, and teaches kids to use their hands for good (like creating art!) instead of bad (hitting, pulling, or smacking). He's very good at breaking up fights and helping kids deal with anger in a reasonable way.
Nanny Roxy loves to play dress-up with kids, but her main objective is to be there for kids, and recognize self-esteem issues. She's ready to pep-talk children at a moment's notice. Everyone is a winner in Roxanne's eyes, after all!
The Mediocre Melody animatronics are all localized on a stage in the daycare, and take turns putting on different types of shows for the kids. Nanny Mr. Hippo loves telling stories for kids, even stepping in to tell naptime stories for the younger kids. Whereas Nanny Orville does small magic shows, along with his assistants Bonbon and Bonnet! The other Mediocre Melodies (Happy Frog, Nedbear, and Pigpatch) are present, but undesigned. When they aren't doing their shows, they act as an extra set of hands for the others.
Nanny Springtrap (modeled ONLY in design after a horror show attraction) is activated during October for Halloween events, and teaches kids that there's no reason to be afraid of monsters. He also advocates for safety around strangers, and that it's okay to always tell an adult if you see something scary. He (along with a currently undesigned Nanny Dreadbear) come every Halloween to give goodie bags to the kids.

Presents | [A.H] - Christmas 2024
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x fem!Reader x Jack | WC: 1.4k | CW: Christmas, fluff
A/N: Here, have a rare moment of Hotch isn't driving the car.
Read other parts here: Snow | Tree | Presents | Christmas
The cold air nipped at your cheeks as you stepped out of the car, your boots crunching softly against the thin layer of snow dusting the parking lot. Aaron followed close behind, carrying the reusable shopping bags with him, his shoulders hunched slightly against the cold. The both of you were bundled up, scarves snug around your necks and gloves tucked into coat pockets. Despite the icy breeze, there was a festive warmth in the air from the scent of candied almonds, hot chocolate, and cinnamon that seemed to hum along with the holiday music spilling faintly out of nearby storefronts.
You tightened your scarf as Aaron fell into step beside you, his expression unreadable as he surveyed the crowded mall entrance.
“This is the last store, right?” he asked, his tone betraying just a hint of hopefulness as he glanced down at the neatly handwritten list in his hand.
You couldn’t help but smirk. “It’s the last store if they have the train set Jack’s been talking about for weeks,” you replied, giving him a teasing look.
Aaron sighed, the sound halfway between exasperation and amusement, though the faint smile tugging at his lips softened the gesture. The corners of his eyes crinkled. “Fine,” he said. “Lead the way.”
As you crossed the threshold into the targeted store, the warmth inside hit you. Shelves were lined with toys, decorations, and bright packages, their festive colors catching the twinkle of the overhead lights.
Jack’s gift was almost secured, provided the elusive train set made an appearance — This was your fifth store looking for that train, you were sure that every single child in Virginia wanted that specific train by now. It reminded you of the Tickle Me Elmo shortage in 1996 that you'd seen on the news.
Jessica’s gift was already wrapped and tucked under the tree at home — a scarf and a new book she’d both been eyeing the last time you went out with her and Jack. Gifts for your parents were packed and ready for shipping, and even the thoughtful little items for coworkers and friends had been crossed off.
“I’ve got everyone covered,” you muttered half to yourself, a small grin tugging at your lips. “Everyone except you.”
Aaron turned his head slightly, raising a curious brow. “Just me?”
“Just you,” you confirmed with a playful smile. “So, consider yourself special, Hotchner. You’re the only one standing between me and total Christmas shopping victory.”
He let out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head as he swerved off toward a display of model airplanes, tilting one of the boxes to examine it.
“Think Jack would like this?” he asked, his voice almost casual, though there was a glint of genuine curiosity in his dark eyes.
You followed his gaze, taking in the intricate details of the model kit before shaking your head. “Maybe next year. Right now, all he wants is that train set.” Besides, you weren't sure he was old enough to build the set yet, convinced that Aaron would end up building everything and also would struggle — it was better to save those kids for later.
Aaron nodded, placing the box back on the shelf, and the two of you pushed on. You wove through the aisles together, scanning the shelves. The crowds had thinned slightly, but the hum of conversation and the occasional burst of laughter reminded you of the season’s chaos.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity of searching, you spotted the train set tucked behind a stack of board games on a lower shelf — clearly, someone had tried to hide it to buy later. You crouched down quickly, grabbing it with triumph before holding it up for Aaron to see.
“Mission accomplished,” you declared after paying, grinning as you tucked the box into one of the bags he carried.
The drive home was quieter, both of you needed the quiet after the massive amount of people at the mall. The backseat was packed with gifts, some spilling out of your bags, others neatly stacked in boxes waiting to be wrapped.
Aaron reached for his phone as you turned onto your street, giving you a brief glance before dialing. “Calling Jessica,” he explained, putting the phone on speaker. “I want to make sure they’re not home yet. No sense in ruining the surprise.”
You gave him an approving nod, adjusting your grip on the steering wheel.
Jessica answered on the second ring. “Hey, Aaron. What’s up?”
“We’re on our way back,” he said. “Are you still at the park with Jack?”
“Yes, don’t worry. We’ll take the long way home if we have to,” she replied, a smile audible in her voice.
“Perfect. Thanks, Jess,” Aaron said, ending the call and turning to you with a faint smirk. “We’re clear.”
You let out a small breath of relief, your thoughts already shifting to the task ahead — wrapping those gifts and keeping everything untouched until Christmas morning.
Back at the house, you popped the trunk open, grabbed the first load of bags and headed inside with Aaron close behind. The living room quickly became a staging ground for the afternoon's operation as you carefully set the bags down, spreading the items across the floor like a battlefield. Aaron reached for one of the remaining bags, but you turned to him, holding up a firm hand.
“Absolutely not,” you said, your tone leaving no room for debate as you grabbed the rolls of wrapping paper, ribbons, and tape from one of the bags.
His brows arched in mock surprise. “Not happening?”
“Not happening,” you repeated, setting the materials down on the coffee table. “I’ve seen your idea of wrapping, Hotchner, and no offense — but functional doesn’t cut it for Christmas. We’re aiming for presentation here.”
Aaron smirked faintly, crossing his arms over his chest. “My wrapping isn’t that bad.”
You gave him a pointed look. “Your version of wrapping involves one strip of tape and a prayer. Now shoo, I’ve got this.”
He raised his hands in surrender, retreating with a smile. “Fine. I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me."
With the room finally to yourself, you got to work. You unfolded the wrapping paper, smoothing out each sheet carefully before measuring and cutting it to precise lengths. You matched the patterns on the seams, ensuring no misaligned stripes or cut-off snowflakes ruined the aesthetic. Each bow was meticulously tied, the loops full and as symmetrical as you could get them, and the ribbons curled perfectly with the edge of your scissors. Every gift received its own name tag, neatly written in your handwriting, and you couldn’t help but feel a small spark of satisfaction each time a present was complete.
The hours flew by faster than you’d expected. The steady rhythm of snipping scissors and the crackle of tape being pulled from its roll was oddly soothing, but as the pile of wrapped gifts grew, so did the pressure. The clock was ticking, and you knew Jessica and Jack would be back soon.
Just as you folded the last piece of tape over a gift and tied its ribbon, you heard the crunch of tires on the driveway.
“Perfect timing,” Aaron called from the kitchen, strolling into the living room as you scrambled to tuck the final present under the tree.
Moments later, the front door opened, and Jessica stepped inside with Jack in tow. She helped him out of his coat, his cheeks pink from the cold as he waved an empty to-go cup in the air.
“I got hot chocolate!” Jack announced triumphantly before making a beeline toward Aaron.
Aaron scooped him up with ease, smiling as Jack wiggled excitedly in his arms. “You did, huh? Was it good?”
“Really good!” Jack said, his attention quickly shifting to the tree. His eyes widened as he took in the growing pile of perfectly wrapped gifts. “Are those all for Christmas?”
You crouched down, ruffling his hair with a smile. “Maybe,” you said playfully. “But you’ll have to wait and see.”
Jack gasped dramatically before running over to inspect the ornaments hanging from the lower branches. But in reality, you knew he was trying to inspect the presents and figure out which ones were for him. You were sure that if you left the room, he would shake all of them to guess the contents.
Aaron’s hand brushed yours as he stood beside you. “You weren’t kidding about the presentation,” he said, admiring the pristine packages with their artful ribbons and tidy seams.
You shot him a proud grin. “Someone had to do it.”
He chuckled, leaning in close enough for his voice to warm your ear. “Remind me to brush up on my wrapping skills next year.”
You smirked, nudging him gently with your shoulder. “Don’t bother. I’ve got it handled.”

simon "ghost" riley as a father
dad!simon spent endless hours building the tiny furniture and painting the nursery walls. Of course, all the equipment was picked by you, as he didn't really have a taste for those things. If he were to choose, the room would end up looking like shit.
dad!simon who smiled the whole time as you folded the new clothes and blankets, stealing some of them to feel the fuzzy material, so calming to his growing anxiety.
dad!simon dreamed of this day for so long, but couldn't help the knot in his stomach at the idea of actually being a father. The fear of turning out to be the same as his old man was disgusting, but never left his mind.
dad!simon who discussed every thought and decision with his therapist, making sure he was really prepared. Coming back after every session, he'd sit down with you and discuss everything, being so happy to feel your touch and reassuring words.
dad!simon who thinks it's a true miracle that he lived so long to carry his little kid home. Holding their tiny body in his arms, the love of his life beside him as he stepped into the house.
and now:
girldad!simon who is completely smitten with his little girl, those huge eyes staring at him as if he was some sort of angel.
girldad!simon spends his free time studying how to style her hair, different ponytails and braids, all depending on his princess's wishes
girldad!simon who lets her color in all of his tattoos, watching her trembly hands holding the newest set of body markers.
girldad!simon who teaches her how to defend herself from a very young age, starting with simple lessons on assertiveness and boundaries, through various self-defend practices.
girldad!simon who spoils her rotten, he just can't deny that pouty little face whenever he tells her no. He has his limits, but most of the time she gets all the dresses, toys, and ribbons she gets.
girldad!simon gets a tattoo of her favorite stuffed animal somewhere on his body.
girldad!simon who encourages her passions, especially when it comes to sports because that's one of the few he has any expertise on. He spends a lot of time getting to know others, so he always has topics to talk about.
girldad!simon who feels pity towards any possible love interest that might even think of hurting his little girl.
girldad!simon is often seen walking around the park, holding her hand at all times. All his scary mysteriousness disappears the moment she talks to him, Simon just turns into the sweetest parent in seconds.
girldad!simon always kneels down in front of her so she feels taller.
girldad!simon will watch any show or movie she wants, doesn't matter how 'girly' it is. Secretly enjoys Barbie movies.
girldad!simon watching her grow up and getting into make-up makes him feel very happy, but nostalgic. Reminding himself that not so long ago she was running around and playing with little bugs.
girldad!simon who always drives her around, a personal taxi driver whenever she wants to hang out with her friends.
and:
boydad!simon who focuses on making sure his boy doesn't pick the same field of work as him, no matter how much his boy idolizes him.
boydad!simon who spends most of his time with his son outside, running, playing soccer, or building him some DIY shelters around the house with branches, leaves, and stones. (my ass can't get this out of my head, such a stereotypical polish childhood)
boydad!simon who adores his boy's interest in the military, but like I said, always reminds him to pick something else. This doesn't stop him from spending hours talking about little details and stories.
boydad!simon spoils him by buying him little cars, wooden models, and sports equipment.
boydad!simon makes sure not to push his boy too much into the toxic masculinity he had to grow up with. His son can be as expressive and sensitive as he wants, there's no one to stop him.
boydad!simon who becomes his son's best friend and savior whenever he has nightmares.
boydad!simon tries to be on-trend with electronic devices, spending lots of time to learn how to play his son's favorite video games whenever the little one is asleep, so he can help him if he struggles with a mission/achievement.
boydad!simon who has to make sure his son is a responsible person, giving him adequate punishments so he doesn't think there are no consequences to his actions.
boydad!simon studies dinosaurs just because his son finds them oh so cool. After reading some articles, he finds himself fascinated with them too, sharing all the facts and sources for them.
overall:
dad!simon would do anything to keep his child safe. He'd let the world burn if it meant his little one was the happiest kid on the planet.
dad!simon gets anxious if his kids don't answer him immediately, so he made sure their phones have their locations turned on all the time.
dad!simon doesn't argue with you around the kids, any serious discussion is only between the two of you, so in case emotions take over they never witness it.
dad!simon thinks it's crucial to show up, so he rushes from his deployment to make it to his child's school play or graduation, just to be able to support them.
dad!simon encourages his kids to go and see a psychologist, even if they don't struggle with much. He understands that there are just things important to talk about, but the kid might not want to open up in front of their parents about everything.
dad!simon turned out to be the father his old man could never be. In his kids' eyes, he's a true hero and the best dad they could have.

Tony’s behavior: Kid
I spent a few days working on some posts about Tony, Howard and Steve, but ultimately came to the conclusion that I needed to do an analysis of Tony's behavior at all stages of his life first. So here is the first post of a new short series.
To see a real person as he is, without masks, habits, traumas and other alterations (which we call “personality development”), the best we can do is to look at him in childhood.
What do we see in kid Tony?
We don't have much, but we have some.
youtube
September 1973. Tony is supposed to be 3 years old here. He doesn’t look like that, because at the time the scene was filmed, the actor was 5 years old. But okay, let's close our eyes to these discrepancies in dates (by the way, this is not the first time we see them) and imagine that he is Tony between 3 and 6 years old.
He’s playing in his father’s office while the latter is filming EXPO stuff.
From his actions here we see that:
He is playful, as he should be at this age. There are three possible explanations for what Tony is doing in this scene: 1) he wanted to prank his father by removing one of the models from the desk; 2) he was trying to get his father's attention; 3) was just playing without a specific goal. If it was a prank, it means he was already a prankster, and his sense of humor was already developed at that age. If it was a way to get his father’s attention – he got a negative sort of it, which certainly was not what he wanted. And if he was just playing – it sounds more like a child his age.
Judging by his confusion when Howard noticed him and started yelling, and the fact that he was in no hurry to hide the model after he took it, this was not a prank. And looking at the same confused Tony with the model in his hands, we can say it was not an attempt to get attention. So the most logical explanation is the third - he was just playing around. Here is additional confirmation of the conclusion: “he sneaks into his dad’s office and picks up a building from a miniature cityscape on the desk. He also stands on the desk and, in what sounds like an interesting bit of foreshadowing, plays with a golden plane, making it dip and soar in the air.” (Source). So indeed, he was just playing with interesting things that looked like toys in his father’s office while his dad was busy with other people doing some silly adult things. Which means – no, he wasn’t a prankster or an attention seeker. He was a normal kid.
He minds his own business. He is not trying to attract attention to himself or interfere with the adults' work. When he picked up the model, he didn't seem to know they were filming. The unreleased scene where he plays with a plane is also indicative of this.
He is brave. He is not afraid to play around a bunch of people, in the office of his strict father, or to touch his things. He doesn’t need his mother’s presence to feel confident to play there. Looks like he already used to it. He is not afraid of strangers and doesn’t show any distress when a guy from the filming crew picks him up and carries him away. Btw, where exactly was his mother is another question.
He is calm. When he was caught by Howard, he did not show any strong reaction to this, nor to Howard's anger, nor to his removal from Howard's office. He was CALM. How many kids this age have you seen who would not show their displeasure, throw a tantrum, cry or get scared? These reactions are natural at this stage of cognitive development: children from 2 to 6 years old are egocentric by default and react sharply to any restrictions on their will. As we can see, this was not Tony's case.
He is quiet. In this scene and throughout the filming for the EXPO (during which he was presumably in the office), he did not speak a word or make a sound.
He does what he is told. When Howard told him to put the model back in its place, he immediately obeyed.
He is neat. He carefully put the model back to its exact place. Have you ever seen kids who put toys back in their place? Huh?
youtube
From this deleted scene we can get the following:
Tony is a sleepyhead. Howard tried his best to wake him up, dragging him out of bed, carrying him around, touching, patting, talking and shouting in his ear. But despite his father's best efforts, Tony did not wake up. Superpower, no less.
Tony is trusting. Despite the fact that his father, who had recently yelled at him, took him sleeping in his arms and carried him somewhere, Tony did not wake up in a panic, but rather slept calmly on his father’s shoulder.
He is not resentful. Despite Howard's behavior towards him, spending time with his father was important to Tony. He was important to him. And nothing changed that.
Scientifically and technologically brilliant. That’s an easy one. There is no evidence so far that he had other deviations. A normal kid in everything else.
Does not spend much time with other kids. Or none at all. There are no other kids that we can see, only adults: his father, photographers, journalists, Bill Gates, Stane. There are no childhood friends we heard about. Here is an explanation that seems realistic and logical based on our observations (at this point): his parents were too busy with their own affairs, whatever they were, to take him to other children and "waste time" on this "useless activity", besides, Howard did not support Tony's normal childhood activities, and playing with his peers was one of them, plus Tony was not too eager to insist, due to his moderate introversion.
Loves riding and interacting with animals. We can see his happy expression when he is riding a horse in the first childhood picture.
It is clear from the video and photos that he is not posing or showing off. Some kids do. And according to popular perceptions of Tony, he should have behaved that way too. But he didn't. His behavior is calm, even a little shy. The smiles are soft, no grinning, no gestures or anything like that.
These are traits of pure Tony, without the added layers of “personality” and “character development.” There are no signs of personality disorders, attention-seeking behavior, aggression, laziness, sloppiness or other negative traits. If you see any – let me know in the comments. On the contrary, he is very calm, quiet, independent, brave, curious, obedient, careful, and easygoing. I am actually very impressed and would be happy to have a kid like him.
Next time we will see how he changed as a teenager and young adult.

WFS Bavaria Part 10: Kid's Room
The WFS Bavaria Kids' Room - cute items for kids, toddlers and infants, in many colors - decorated with butterflies and horsies (seahorsies?) - or not. I made plain versions too.
Converted from Sims 2, edited and adapted for Sims 4 - Original by Wood for Sims.
In this set:
Infant crib, with or without canopy, fully functional.
Nursing table (needs EP Growing Together) with or without deco
Diaper Bin (needs EP Growing Together)
Potty Chair
High Chair
Three different beds for kids , with or without canopy & butterflies and one with Horsie-theme
Three different beds for toddlers , with or without canopy and one with Horsie-theme
Dressers with or without deco, two different sizes, 3 variations for each size. The smaller dresser can be stacked or placed on other furniture, for example the desk in this set, and then placed under a bunk bed.
Desks, with or without deco, one simpler 1x1 desk.
End table, with or without butterfly deco.
Toy Box, with or without butterfly deco.
Rocking Horse - needs Pandasamas Rocking Horse mod.
Butterfly Mobile, animated. (Can be turned on or off.)
Block Building Toy House (Dollhouse)
Butterfly Wall Deco
Toddler Bookshelf, Horsie-themed, with or without books. The empty one has lots of slots, still works as a bookshelf.
Three different Butterfly Lamps: Ceiling, Wall or Table model.
Download WFS Bavaria Part 10: Kid's Room (Curseforge)
I updated the Bavaria Deco Bed Frame set with the bedframes for kids, now it includes 16 diffent bed frames - I also corrected the first bed frames where needed, so please redownload them here.

Concept: Odasuku who’s always been the unwavering pillar of strength crumbles the second he realises who’s in that van.
And he never builds himself back up.
For the first in a long time all Odasuku’s emotions are displayed for the world to see. His anger, his fear, his regret, his sadness echoed in his cries.
Dazai was the one to say one should never anger Odasuku. But that doesn’t mean he was prepared for it either.
For all his genius. For all his power and prestige. For all his plans and schemes he’s left standing at the sidelines.
Powerless to do a thing to help his grieving friend. There are no words he can express to soothe his soul.
It’ll be another thing on his list of regrets.
It feels so wrong to see Odasuku look so lost. A man who always seemed to have everything figured out. Someone who could see even the most cruelest of actions and not flinch in the slightest.
The same man who now so openly cries and Dazai doesn’t know what to do other than shield him. He glared at the grunts until they leave, gives him that much privacy.
Hearing Odasuku cry, hug and old stuffed toy and apologise to each and every one of those kids he cherished so much.
Is one of the most painful things Dazai’s ever witnessed.
As is recognising the look in his eye that day he goes missing.
Odasuku shooting at Gilde before the man can finish his speech. He misses but he shoots again, and again and again. His hands trembling with rage as he does so.
It’s not Oda Sakunosuke the famed assassin that faces Gilde. It’s Odasuku the grieving father that stands before him.
He wanted to stop killing to write of course.
But deep down he also he wanted to be better for those kids. To be a role model. To be someone they could look up too and not a man who tucked them into bed with blood stained hands.
What a joke.
It’s not the fight Gilde wanted but Odasuku doesn’t care. This isn’t about fights or games or understanding.
It was about revenge.
After all there was a warning that Dazai gave the Port Mafia not too long ago.
Never anger Odasaku.

I feel like we don’t talk about and romanticize human instincts enough.
We are social creatures, and primates at that, grooming and cleaning is a social behavior for us. That’s why it’s so nice to have someone play with your hair or rub your back. Physical contact, especially from someone you trust, is awesome.
We are diurnal, we can’t survive without sunlight. Laying in a patch of sunlight after a long day at work is probably one of my favorite things to do. We get jealous about cats and dogs napping on the floor, there is nothing stopping you!
Eating is not only another social activity, that we like to do together, but it’s also calming. Prehistoric humans could only afford to eat when they felt safe. Now we’ve been conditioned to associate food with security. We even pick specific foods to comfort us when we are feeling down.
Our sense of smell is stronger than we realize! Most people can recognize close friends and family members by smell. We make candles and scented items to enrich ourselves.
We like soft things! It’s probably linked to that grooming and cleaning instinct. Fluffy means it’s a friend :)
Our communication is an instinct, language comes naturally to us. We make up new words and phrases all the time, sometimes the words will only make sense to a small group of people. Inside jokes make us feel like we are creating something new!
Speaking of making something new, crafting and touching things are instinctual too. It’s another form of enrichment that we don’t realize we do. Soft bedsheets, kids arts and crafts, fidget toys, gloves to avoid things that are unpleasant to touch. Even just flexing our hands. Doodling, snapping, the need to touch everything in the store.
We are naturally curious. We ask questions and look for answers. We try new things just for the thrill of it, even when they’re dangerous. Bungee jumping, parachuting, going for walks in the woods, trying new foods, even meeting new people could be considered dangerous. Doesn’t matter how much you enjoys something, if you do exactly the same thing every day it will get boring, we need variety and new things to explore.
We constantly want to learn! We tell our friends about the stuff that we learn! We devote so much of our time to learning and practicing our skills so we can be better at stuff we learned. Knowledge has always been our species greatest strength, that can’t develop without a brain that is constantly seeking more knowledge. We learn languages, learn about local birds. We build model planes and play instruments, just to learn something new.

for the Vamptember 12 Nights of Christmas prompt “holiday party”
“Oh my god, Daddy!” Claudia screamed ear-piercingly. (Claudia actually had the potential to cause damage; Louis surreptitiously checked to see if he was bleeding from an ear.)
She thundered down the stairs, eyes locked on the tree through the bannister as soon as her eyeline crossed beneath the first floor.
Vampire children—if there had been any others—got to start Christmas before any other children, they explained to Claudia. Why wait for the clock to strike midnight? Christmas began at sunset on Christmas eve: else how could you wake up from coffin to presents under the tree?
That first year she had been all tentative wide-eyed marvel. The floor around the Christmas tree had been completely covered in presents for Claudia in a radius of over a yard and a half. Unwrapping presents had been a process of hesitancy, building to increasing mania and glee.
This year she raced downstairs starting at mania and glee.
“I think she just made all the other kids in a ten block radius jealous,” Louis chuckled to Lestat as they trailed down the stairs after her.
“As they should be,” Lestat murmured, sliding fingertips down the arm of Louis’s new dark blue striped satin robe. Everyone was still in their sleep clothes, robes, and slippers that had been bought specially for the occasion. It was a party of a sort after all, Lestat observed: they needed to dress appropriately.
Louis and Lestat picked their way over the field of gift-wrapped boxes and packages Claudia had dived into, and settled next to each other on the sofa as Claudia tore through paper and ribbons, screaming with delight.
“She even has my eyes!” Claudia shouted at Louis, waving a porcelain doll that was an exact duplicate of Claudia down to one of her favorite blue dresses.
“But not your volume,” Lestat smiled as he draped an arm along the back of the sofa behind Louis’s shoulders.
She tossed the doll gently into a small mountain of crumpled wrapping paper—“Hey!” Louis laughed—and then she whipped a ribbon off a soft bundle.
“Remind me again how something called an ‘Erector’ is appropriate for our daughter,” Lestat said, eyeing a box in the growing swell of opened toys, clothes, accessories, and diversions.
Louis gave him a smile with his eye roll. “‘Educational, Instructive and Amusing,’” Louis quoted. “I know I’m gonna catch you playing with it, building little models.”
Lestat had leaned in to press his lips to Louis’s ear to whisper something about “playing with it” when Claudia screamed in rapture again, this time at a Bakelite vanity set. “See, I told you she’d like that,” Louis said.
This set off a private betting war on predicting what she would and would not be impressed by.
