@kidquantums thank you for defending this post! im just gonna block tumblr user qweefs tho bc i don’t need that bullshit in my notes. funny how they assumed i was bi automatically even tho im a lesbian that wants to encourage solidarity between lesbians and bi women and i never even called anything specifically “biphobic” lol!

the things that a lot of y’all assume are “lesbian only” feelings and experiences and tag with “non-lesbians don’t touch” rlly reveals a lot of assumptions u have abt what bi women feel and experience. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, lesbians and bi women have far more in common with each other than not, and the differences should not be defined without input from bi women themselves

So I was introduced to my first comics when I was in elementary school. I was an absolute super fan of the Teen Titans animated series (I collected both the action figures and the small figurines that were smaller than my pinky). Starfire immediately caught my attention. She was the most complex character I had ever encountered and to this day I still haven’t really seen a character with so much depth, both emotional and physiological. Her first appearance on page is her recruitment of Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark) against the wishes of Wonder Woman, who believed Cassie wasn’t ready to join the team. Starfire believed that not only was Cassie mature enough to make her own decisions she also believed her best friend and Cassie’s role model Donna Troy would have wanted Cassie to make the decision herself. We later see Starfire tending to her garden which is full of plant life and sculptures from her home planet of Tamaran. She uses gardening to focus and temper her emotions, something she never really needed to do until she was a young adult. We see she speaks to herself in her native language which is something that isn’t really done for any race in any form of media. When Deathstroke/Slade and Brother Blood threaten the lives of Raven and the other Titans she doesn’t hold back until the threat to the people she loves is dealt with, something she not only learned from the Warlords of Okaara but also from losing so many people she has loved over the years. When everyone is safe she checks to make sure everyone knows that she is there for them (reassuring Raven that her body and emotions are hers to do with as she pleases, checking on Kid Flash/Bart Allen after their confrontation with The Ravager/Rose Wilson). She was also the first example of a woman who was taller than the men as well as more muscular but that didn’t take away from her femininity. In summary, Starfire is everything I ever wanted to be as a person and will continue to be an icon.
