GabV1el Headcanon:
I'd like to think that, at the start, they get blown away by the smallest acts of kindness given by the other, and will forever be touched by them.
I mean, for V1, it's a whole new experience, a new feeling. Because they are a machine, a decommissioned war machine at that (Not much interactions with good natured humans), I don't imagen they experienced thoughtful small gestures. So when Gabriel does something small but kind for them (and back then probably not knowing if it would be appreciated), it's just so foreign, but also so welcomed because it makes them feel acknowledge as living being.
Gabriel? He's no stranger to kind actions (giving or receiving them), so you'd think he'd be unfazed, but no, he's very taken a back (in a good way). Because, at the start at least, I don't think he'd expect it from V1 (given their history and while he knows that they're alive and capable of expression and personhood, he also knows that machines are different from anything he encountered and shouldn't put expectation of the familiar on them even if there are some overlaps here and there) or at least he won't expect a heartfelt, thoughtful, kindness, and, most importantly, I can see Gabriel coming to terms that once he's cut the Council down, he'd be cut from everything associated with Heaven, and that's involved kindness. So to receive it after the fact, from anyone, and for this person to be the machine that beats him twice in battle and started the domino effect, yeah, it was a surprise. And it's genuine, not an act of worship, no a care for his status, and not something that comes naturally by design. Just V1 wanting and making an effort to do something nice for him.
V1 is given something new. Gabriel is given something he fully believed he lost forever.

I wanna talk about Jou’s crest a lil bit…I think his situation is also very interesting due to the fact that the dub changed his crest like Mimi’s. I will be honest, and this is very controversial, I do not think reliability suits him. I’d argue a huge part of his character is that he’s not that reliable, and he dislikes this fact about himself. He FEELS like he should be because he’s the oldest, but he really struggles to be someone the others can count on until the series progresses. I could definitely see an argument for reliability fitting him later in the series, but it’s not his most prominent quality and that’s what the crests are.
A common theme in a lot of Jou’s big moments is that he’s ridiculously reckless, he puts himself in extremely dangerous situations to save others (some examples being ep23 & ep36). Jou goes into these situations without a real plan, and simply acts based on his emotions and his wanting to help his friends. Which makes emotions he feels during these moments are extremely sincere, extremely genuine. That is why I think crest of sincerity fits him so well. I do think reliability and sincerity can go hand in hand, but his sincerity is what stands out more and I think it makes more sense than what the American dub chose.
Jou is a really interesting character, and I think his crest is especially…watching him grow from absolutely horrified of the situation and worrying about the little things, to dropping everything for those he cares about is just so good. Pay attention to Jou a bit more when you find yourself watching adventure…

im just rewatching a lot of stuff so hear me out
with the adventure 99 kids, the only way they know how to interact with digimon is if the world is at stake. there is a definite Divide of the human and digital world. the hikarigaoka and odaiba fog incident seals the deal with them. next time theyre called, diaboromon is rampaging the internet, and they can finally see their friends again. they had to part ways, and deal with growing without them first.
with the 02 cast, the worlds intertwine. they deal with enemies that interact with them in both worlds and have influence in both. by episode 50, the digimon being at home is a pretty open secret. they do everything together and in the 02 cast were a part of the incidents.
thats why kizuna was so jarring for them. at least taichi, yamato and sora. with the digimon now being more known, they could take them to class. they could have lunch out with them. however, there is definitely a cloud of 'I have only seen them in a life-threatening situation, what can I do with them' thoughts that's blocking them from having fun with them.
jou's arc in adventure especially speaks out to me. his issues are especially why he and gomamon are still together. its because of the issues at home. in the digital world, he learns the value of reliability in his own way. his own choice, as both a Chosen Child and as a person.
dealing with problems that relate to human social issues is hard for the 99 digidestined because all they know dealing with problems is to fight their way through it. it doesn't pass their thoughts that the digimon themselves are related to their own personal issues.

nail girlie momo forcing everyone in the dan to let her practice on their hands and kido is always letting her bc Whoa momo holding my hand for over an hour. crazy. but ALSO kido is one of those ppl incredibly fidgety abt nail filling and all that so they sit through it with the power of gay love. they stare at momo the whole time bc she sticks her tongue out in concentration and kido thinks its cute. whatever
and when it's done they see their hands and it feels so foreign kinda like when rin dressed them in those fancy clothes. then gets emo abt rin bc she always had such perfectly manicured hands. erm anyways then they get distracted when momo's like THEY LOOK SO PRETTY DANCHOU THEY SUIT U:3

so I've been concocting this Afto swap AU with @freshdickies which started as an excuse for haiizu/ranazu and... continues to be, tbh, but with more and more characters roped in. here's the first half of the invasion team 👀

Still making my way through Saint Seiya, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning that one of the things that finally motivated me to go and read the manga a couple months ago was remembering how the Cloths was actually an inspiration for the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans. Clash director Louis Letterier has said (link to Anime News Network article) that Saint Seiya was an influence on the armor the gods wore on Olympus. Masami Kurumada was even commissioned to draw some posters for the film (link to Anime News Network).
The film's production notes on Sci-Fi Japan go into more detail about the thought process behind these designs: they were designed by Lindy Hemming, and each armor is designed with a motif that each god is associated with. So Zeus's armor has eagle designs, Poseidon's has shells and fish scales, Apollo's has the sun, etc. This applies to the goddesses as well, even if they aren't wearing full armor. I'd say their dresses could be inspired by Saori/Athena's dress, but to be honest Saori's outfit is already pretty close to actual Greek clothing that it's hard to say for sure.
These screenshots are actually from scenes that were deleted from the final film (a truncated version of this scene is there, though), but can be easily found online. One benefit of the effects not being done in these scenes, though: you get to appreciate the armor without the CG lighting that was applied to them.

I have more unimportant headcanons sooo here.
What the original digidestined would listen to while driving.
-Tai listens to pop while in the car(if he ever gets one)
-Matt has an assortment of several music genres for his car rides.
-Izzy would just listen to classical/Beethoven music.
-T.K would listen to hip-hop.
-Joe cannot listen to anything because he'll get distracted and run himself into a tree or something.
-Kari would be the one to surprisingly listen to heavy metal.
-Mimi would listen to Jazz.
-Sora listens to instrumental blues as it for some ironic reason is relaxing for her.

everybody's asleep! time to post kido thoughts because i have so many things brewing in my head about him that i can never seem to word to my satisfaction and i am finally taking the leap and treating him like my canon muses in that you know what? the studies focusing solely on him do not have to be neat either!!
loves his dad. hates his dad. loves his dad enough to keep the quill from his feathered spear — the last physical connection to him he's got — to bind to the braided cord he receives from nekk for his growing semiplumes as a statement of you are still something to me. hates his dad enough that he never gave his weapon its proper rites by burning it in a funerary bonfire, which wouldn't be a problem if he also did not refuse to take it up in any shape or form ( nekk's still got it in his aerie, collecting dust ). it's complicated.
has healed enough from the loss that he can think of his dad and anything to do with him without ever feeling like his stomach's being pried open to be turned inside-out by the time totk rolls around. still wounded to the point of rejecting customary warrior training and finding that extensive, emphasised talk of warriorhood in general, a literal cultural hallmark, makes him genuinely anxious and even a little angry. just a little. he can at least immerse himself in the mythic touch and triumph of Songs.
loves revail. hates revali. still has all his Songs memorised and could recite the older ones by heart, still gets dreams of being buoyed up above the skies by what he imagines would be his gale, still quietly thinks he's one of the coolest people peaks among the ripples will ever have to grace their history. also can't feel normal about him in any single conversation. also gets irrationally mad when anyone goes on and on about him, the ( mostly silent ) critic to the enjoyer. also rather unhealthily, if only subconsciously, clings onto the idea that his dad chose revali and his legacy over himself — not in the "oh, i was not enough" way ( though he did have a stint of this ), but in the "oh, of course he'd choose someone so amazing like master revali over me" way. the idea of revali is the last thing connecting him to his past with his dad, where he was still present, and kido hasn't decided whether he wants to burn that bridge or reinforce it.
but hey, here's to fluffier things! is contender for the one with the best fine motor control among his peers. though he doesn't feel a passion for it, and would much rather something else at his current age, he does hold his clothier apprenticeship with nekk near and dear to his heart for giving him an outlet he very sorely needed and the inability to ( physically and emotionally ) self-isolate as he wanted to in the worst of his grief.
cartography came a bit out of nowhere, but at the same time it's perfectly fitting. he legitimately enjoys travelling, even if his initial taste for it came in little bites of attempted-and-failed rescue missions. and maybe he wants to make sure he'll be able to find anyone he cares about in the future, huh? maybe he wants to be able to pinpoint exactly where anyone could've gone no matter what. bonus points: it's an artisan's life, not a warrior's one! score! ( < is going to be so upset when he finds out that learning to at least know how to defend himself is a compulsory step in graduating from fledgling to globetrotter )
