HI GUYS!!!!

In an attempt to pump some positivity into our little tag. I've had a bit of a rough week and in late celebration to our protagonists birthdays passing by earlier this week. I wanted to kinda go around and see what we got in terms of love for this series. I wrote something for Tsuna's birthday that really gutpunched me and like..Its serious yall. I'm here for LIFE.

So, devoid of any criticism towards the series, it's all love around here. What are your favorite aspects of this series? Anime, manga, stage play, novels, characters, fandom, etc. Anything goes. I just want to know what keeps you all around? Let me hear it, my friends. Why do YOU stay?

I'll go first.

I love the found family aspect, each and every single bond of the series is so heartwarming to me. These people feel like family, and everytime I consume the series, I notice a new aspect about their friendships.

The anime!!! The anime is really really important to me. Every voice actor, every OST they add, every little flavor scene they add to extend a manga chapter to fit the anime time. I adore it. The anime directors brought this series to life, and its so full of love.

Flames, flames, flames. I love them so much. The color-codedness? The Vongola Guardian characteristics? It feels me with such a childhood level of whimsy.

Tsuna's character arc. Just. That is so deeply relatable, I can't even.... God, i love him.

The!! character songs!! (again, thank you anime producers. For Rebocon, for making the character songs, for everything!!)

Our silly character numbers. To the outsiders, it looks like morse code, and it makes us feel like a community talking in secret to one another. The KHR fandom club.

In terms of fandom, I love love love love love AUs, as well as canon-adjacent of course. But, this cast is so colorful. Let me yoink them and put them in a new place and watch them fuck around. (Amen to monster tamer, our canon AU)

And of course, I love the character analysis posts we get around here. I have deep respect for those who can make little meta posts. Shoutout to hopeswriting, I won't tag her but gosh. Some of the most fun conversations I've had in my life. As well as a number of people I've met along the way. You guys are!! amazing!! Thank you for all the conversations, they've driven me so so insane!!!

Khr flame types for all the bat-clan. (Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, Oracle, Black Bat, and Batgirl. Maybe Alfred and a few others.) It's a question/concept that's been floating in my mind for the last couple of days.

Okay, so having gotten into DC, Izzy will finally answer this ask that’s been lounging in inbox hell for um... years. *screms* My tagline says ‘may answer’ for a reason

Batman: Lightning primary, Cloud secondary.

Nightwing: Storm. Sun.

Red Hood: Sky. (yeah, oof.) Rain secondary. (Rains are scary.)

Red Robin: Lightning. Mist.

Robin: Rain. Cloud. (Ra’s is also a Rain, with a Storm secondary.)

Oracle: Sun. Mist.

Black Bat: Sun.

Batgirl/Spoiler: Lightning. Storm.

Signal: Mist.

Alfred: Storm.

Mind you, this is my take on it. Umei also had thoughts about this a while back (in October of ‘23), so...

Anyway, further explanations under the cut

Batman we agree is a Lightning. He’s both grounding and polarizing. In his actions and how he approaches things. He’s got the Cloud secondary because of his territorial style to Gotham and what he values/considers his.

Nightwing we disagree on. Nightwing usually plays peacemaker in the family. He’s friendly, charming and has a temper. However Izzy disagrees with the Sky because while Nightwing has friends, none of them really seem to hmm, be the same level of closeness and intimacy that strikes Izzy as a characteristic of a Sky-Flame bond. Depending on the continuity, the Titans broke up under him how many times? Yeah, he’s Driven and he Cares and tries to make things better for others, but he’s also a mess that really needs someone to barge in and take care of.

Red Hood we also disagreed on, but Izzy did argue Umei around. Like yeah, you could write him on a Cloud rage-bender but also, that could just be Trauma. But really what sold Jason as a Sky was everyone’s reactions to his death. He touched a lot of people, even if he only met them a few times. Like Roy. He made such an impression on Talia that she kept tabs on him before he was ever adopted by Bruce. He meets new people and lets them in and works with them, like Artemis and Bizzaro; they reach back, gel together in ways that shouldn’t work but do. Izzy’s still reading up on earlier comics but well, he’s got a lot of Xanxus vibes, so there’s that too. The Rain/Cloud secondary bits are more nuance but well, both Flames are pretty willing to cut a bitch first for something/someone they believe in. But Jason’s got a lot of sensitivity we don’t see in most KHR Clouds so Izzy went Rain.

Red Robin. Yeah, he’s a Lightning. Also Mist. They feed into each other. Tangle. He is such a mess. He just hides it better now that he’s older.

Robin. Umei says Storm because he’s insecure and willing to attack. Izzy says he’s a Rain, because again, Rains are willing to cut a bitch and still be sensitive. Izzy further modifies with Cloud who had their expected life upended and is trying to figure everything out.

Oracle strikes Izzy as a Sun and a Mist. She’s just on the intellectual side of Sun (see perfect recall) and Mist is basically a modifier on that. Oracle is very much willing to make things go her way.

Black Bat is a Sun because we see her body reading ability in KHR with Reborn. Reborn not only does this for combat but to get his jollies off, since he, like Cass probably can’t turn it off. Izzy’s not sure on a secondary for Cass, but might be Cloud.

Spoiler/Batgirl: We agree to the Lightning. Izzy originally went with a Sun secondary, but further thought is probably Storm secondary.

Signal: he’s a Mist. He’s perfectly reasonable. Until he ain’t. He also gets away with so much shit. Izzy’s pretty sure he’s a Sun or Storm secondary but while he seems to be Sunny, Izzy thinks he’s actually more Storm. After all, if you start a revolution, gotta be willing to play with fire.

Alfred: we should all be glad we only met him post-war, when he had settled into being a butler.

River also somehow fits with his strength introduction since he stabbed Yamamoto and Daemon and high-pressure water can cut through thing.

Also river can lead to erosion which wearing a stone into round smooth shape. Under all the terrain (yes if the sky has weathers the earth's gonna have terrain) of the earth, river seems to be the only one left with the power that mostly related to what happened in the manga.

hello! i was just rereading your bleach/KHR fics, and had a thought to try my hand at one. my only problem is deciding on flame types for bleach characters.

i think it'll make it easier if i just let all Shinigami be dual-types (the thought process being that not everyone on the afterlife becomes a Shinigami, and stronger flames would mean a stronger flame) but I'm still unsure of which types to give everyone 🤔

do you have any insights on a similar au, or a list of what flames you've used for bleach characters previously?

Well, I have a few of them and I'll reblog this post later with a few recommendations once I've had the time to go through my own bookmarks. But mostly, what I do is I go to the wiki and remind myself of the poems associated with each flame.

For example, my first instinct was to connect Kisuke with Lightning, given the mad scientist thing. But if you look at the poem, it doesn't fit at all.

To draw damage to himself and away from the rest of the Famiglia, serving as a lightning rod.

I think that fits Ichigo more than it fits anybody else but if we're assuming Ichigo is a Sky and has a Lightning of his own, I might consider Renji or maybe Rukia. Though I'm shaky on this flame, honestly. It's complex. Renji I'm not sure, I think of him because he keeps trying to keep up and one of his motivations is to not be left behind but he also seems determined to fight beside and not behind. If that makes sense. And he seems to have no problem sacrificing himself if that's what it takes to feel like he's not dragging anybody down. But Renji is a long shot.

My justification for Rukia is that she knew full well that giving Ichigo her powers was an execution worthy offense but knowing that and understanding that without doing it, Ichigo and his sisters would have died, she gave him her powers anyway. And when time came to face the consequences, she didn't even try to have Ichigo return the favor and protect her in turn. She went out of her way to avoid his involvement because she knew Ichigo, for all his conviction, wouldn't stand a chance as he was at the time.

Now, Storm:

Continuously at the heart of the attack, the furious Storm that never rests.

Renji or Grimmjow, for example. Neither of them are the kind to sit back. But if we're going for duh, that one: Kenpachi. That one lives for the fight. It's his main characteristic.

For Rain:

To square away conflict and wash away the blood spilled. The Requiem of Rain.

If we're going by my head cannon, I think Mizuiro would do nicely here. But if we're stepping back and going through personalities: Yoruichi (I'm not sure if I wrote her name right.) Or Shinji.

She's pretty good at mediating between Ichigo's friends and her whole job description is to take care of problems that need to be done away with, quietly and bloody if need be.

Shinji's approach is more mental manipulation than assassination, I think. But he was captain of a the militaristic afterlife for centuries, I doubt he's squeamish. Either way, both of them are good at keeping peace inside of a group of loud personalities and both of them feel to me like the kind that would deal with a threat with weapons in hand.

Honestly, the rains are the ones I'd be personally more wary of, they seem to be the kind that could genially talk to you, smile and all, while fully knowing you're ending up dead by the end of the night.

The Sun:

Destroying the misfortune that attacks the Famiglia with their own body, they become the Sun that brightly shines upon an area.

If we go by "activation", Kisuke. Come on, that guy has spent the entire manga just pushing and prodding and provoking Ichigo into becoming a powerhouse. It's why I made him a Sun in Mizuiro, the information Broker and I find Reborn fits into this category as well.

But if we're going only by the poem: Chad. Come on, his physical ability, protectiveness and willingness to physically defend the rest of the group is practically his entire point.

For Cloud:

A drifting Cloud, whom cannot be bound. Protecting the famiglia from an independent standpoint.

I briefly considered Shinji but then I remembered he all but poached Ichigo from the Shinigami and fully declared him one of theirs from the get go. There was no independent standpoint, that was point blank: "I have adopted you and your silly denials matter nothing to me."

So Yoruichi. She mostly does what she wants and thinks needs doing, though she does coordinate quite a bit with Kisuke. Which might be just common sense, no point disturbing Kisuke's carefully crafted plots. But consider: Byakuya. He's supportive and has Ichigo's back but they don't really coordinate in any way, they just know soul deep that the other has their back. It's even outright stated in the full bring arc.

Well yikes, this is an enormous post. I tried to be quick but alas. I hope this helped.

She Said No (A KHR fanfic.)

Word Count: 706 words. Characters: Sawada Tsunayoshi, Reborn (Miura Haru, Sasagawa Kyoko mentioned)

Tsuna paled as he looked at the paper in front of him. An application to become a hero? "Reborn! What's this?!" He panicked and called for his home tutor. It had to be his doing. Tsuna didn't know of anyone else who would bring him such a pointless application when he already had other things to worry about like graduation to begin with.

"Ciaossu!" There was that voice again. Tsuna's hair stood on end, any time he heard that familiar greeting, he was in danger, he knew it. Reborn wouldn't just drop in for a carefree visit. This wasn't going to end well, nothing from this spartan trainer ever ended well.

Tsuna didn't understand why Reborn would appear once again though, they'd gone their separate ways and Tsuna had made it very clear he had no intention of becoming the tenth Vongola boss. Why would Reborn come back? There was that matter of turning Tsuna into the Neo Primo and making him rebuild the family though wasn't there? He'd ignore that and hope it wasn't the case.

"So Tsuna, there's a little issue. You've been called a hero, but that's not exactly the case." Reborn started. Just for Tsuna to raise an eyebrow.

"I told you already Reborn, I don't want to be in the Mafia and I could care less about being a hero without my friends!" What else was there that he'd wanted to do that he hadn't already achieved. There was that matter of asking out….wait. That couldn't be why he was here was it? Reborn's advice in Mafia training was mostly efficient even if rather spartan, however what kind of love advice could an arcobaleno give?

There was that thing he'd said to Tsuna when he thought things were safe once again. Tsuna recalled it clearly, "So you've finally noticed Haru, huh?" No, he actually hadn't, in fact if Tsuna had noticed anything about Haru it was the way his right hand man was getting closer and closer to her every day and she looked happier and happier with him.

There was no way Reborn was here regarding Tsuna's love life. He brushed that thought out of sight and mind both. It had to be the application, there was no other reason. "Reborn-san…" Tsuna greeted the toughest tutor in the world.

"Well hopefully you've noticed someone Tsuna, 'cause you can't officially be a hero or Mafia boss without getting the girl and I already put in the application for you."

Tsuna twitched. "Reborn-san…" Tsuna's blood pressure always seemed to rise when Reborn came around. His characteristic greeting was becoming a warning signal for Tsuna's fight or flight response. "I'll still be no good Tsuna anyway so why bother?"

Reborn returned Tsuna's glum attitude with his characteristic kick to the face. "That way of talking is exactly why you were always dame-Tsuna."

"Reborn-san! I'm not a hero and I never will be, Haru said no anyway." Tsuna argued, just for Reborn to do what he always had.

He loaded his gun. There had to be something Tsuna regretted still. And if Reborn recalled anything about his student, it was that Tsuna hadn't officially asked Kyoko out in a serious manner. Haru might have rejected him but she wasn't who Tsuna had actually loved anyway. He had to once again draw out that spark in the kid, cause if he couldn't become a hero and had rejected being a Mafia boss, then Reborn had failed too. "Then die!"

He'd used these bullets time and again before, and if there was nothing Tsuna regretted then it was just a fact, he'd die right there. Reborn knew better, Tsuna had and always would regret not getting Kyoko, it was his dream after all to marry her one day.

And once again Dame Tsuna revived because he would have died with regrets. "Reborn!" He burst out into dying will flame and once again proclaimed to confess to Kyoko with his dying will.

"Haru might have said no, but it was Kyoko you always loved anyway, wasn't it?! So go get her, No Good Tsuna!" If Reborn couldn't make Tsuna into a Mafia Boss or a hero, he could at least spare the kid the embarrassment of dying single and alone.

I have not done these! im going to change the weapon question slightly in a way i think is a little more fun.

🔥What would be your Flame type? i have two answers for this based on the interpretation of how flames work in canon. -if its characteristic based, flames having something to do with who you are as a person then i think cloud flames would be the most reasonable answer. -if its just mostly genetic based (which is what i think personally) then i would probably pick storm flames as i think that fits best in my "if i had to imagine myself and my place in the khr universe" self insert lol

im basically just imagining me as fully myself, like i have my current job in the world too, my main "weapon" would be my weed torch i often use for work. just like irl sure you could defo use it as a real weapon and with using storm flames in universe it would be more deadly, but i like just imagining it being used pure functionally. i could clean up the graveyard, the weeds and the walking paths so fast if i could use weak storm flames lol

So, I'm writing these on my phone, so please excuse any typos or the length. So, I've been thinking about the Dying Will Flames from KHR lately and how the characters from my other fandoms would fit those flames and figured I'd share my thoughts on K and the big four of HOMRA!

Now, since all Sky Flame users we've largely been exposed to have been bosses of their respective families, which does make sense considering the flame itself, one would automatically assume that Mikoto, as defacto boss of HOMRA, would, of course, be a Sky Flame user but I honestly don't see that at all. It just doesn't fit him to me and I'll go a bit into why in the explanation of what I do think his Flame is. Now, with Mikoto, I see him having a dual Flame, with Cloud being his predominant type with a secondary, weaker, Lightning Flame. Now, while he is the Boss, I think the most fascinating thing about Mikoto for me is that he's always come off as someone who kind of stumbled into being a boss-type figure. It's not something he sought out and I don't think it's something he ever really fully embraced. Like, he is the Red King, he is the top of HOMRA, but I do see him, in the anime and in the manga, who kind of always does keep himself to himself in some regards. He doesn't fully embrace relationships with others for the most part, with a few exceptions, and while he does care about those in HOMRA, he kind of always does his own thing and largely seems okay with letting them do their own thing. He truly is 'the drifting cloud' who protects the family, or HOMRA, in this case, from where he really is at the moment instead of really rallying the rest of HOMRA or meeting them where they are. It's not that he doesn't care about them; it's just that to Mikoto, his own feelings and wants always are what takes first priority. He leaves the rallying and organizing to others better suited for it. Now, in terms of fighting, even though his Lightning Flame is weaker, I do seem him using it more during actual battle than his Cloud Flame. More or less, Mikoto is someone who does enjoy fighting, going on the offensive instead of the defensive more often, and the Lightning Flames help him more that way. Truly, in battle, he does as the Flame suggests - draws the damage towards himself, serving as a lightning rod for anyone dumb enough to try to take him on. For those curious, I do see him having a Lightning Lion type box animal, whose roar can project a solid barrier but whose body is almost shrouded in electricity that will electrocute anyone who touches it.

Now, Totsuka is actually the one I see possessing a Sky Flame. While he doesn't seem the typical Sky Flame user, especially since he does prefer to follow, does prefer to support instead of to lead directly, he, both as a person and in the role he fills in HOMRA, lives up to the Sky's responsibility of accepting all and enveloping all. We see, especially in MOR, that Totsuka is often the one that new members get to know best, who kind of acts as a welcoming host and is the one people are encouraged to go to with questions and the one who the HOMRA members really find themselves the most influenced by, again, especially shown in the manga. The Sky Flame's characteristic of Harmony is especially shown in Totsuka's personality itself and in how he deals with and sees the world. On top of that, the Sky Flame can be combined with any other type of Flame and I really feel that Totsuka was the best, among the top three of HOMRA, at really getting along with, building relationships with, and combining his own personality with all the other HOMRA members. He truly did kind of colour them all with his own personality but at the same time, the other members of HOMRA inspired and were accepted as was by Totsuka. For those curious, I see his box weapon as being a Sky Slow loris, something really deceptively cute but incredibly dangerous, much like Totsuka himself.

When it comes to Izumo, it never occurred to me that he could be anything other than a Rain Flame. The Rain Flame's duty is 'to square away conflict and wash away the blood spilled, the requiem of rain'. And really, when it comes to HOMRA, Izumo is the one who keeps everything together. Who takes care of all the issues and problems and who keeps an ear out and an eye on things. Without Kusanagi, HOMRA could not and would not exist. Though the opposite of the free-spirited and accepting Totsuka, Kusanagi still very much influences and colours the lives of all the HOMRA members and is the one that anyone of them would trust and put their faith in to solve any problems the members can't solve themselves. Another interesting bit regarding Kusanagi and the Rain Flame is that Rain Flames can negate or cancel out other flames to a certain extent and I do feel that, in his dealings with the other HOMRA members, this also very much fits Kusanagi. A harsh word or a lecture from Kusanagi can and has kept members, and even Mikoto himself, from doing stupid things. While he takes more of a background to the more charismatic Mikoto and Totsuka, I think without Kusanagi's influence, and without a good Rain Flame user, that HOMRA wouldn't work in the long run. For those interested, I think his Box Animal is a Rain Flame Bat, just because of spirit animal symbolism and all, haha!

Shocking nobody, but Yata is definitely a Storm Flame. "Continuously at the heart of the attack, the furious storm that never rests." Yeah, that's most certainly Yata and I don't feel like there needs to be a lot of explanation for this one. Yata is unapologetically who he is - brash, hot-tempered and hot-headed, unafraid to use violence as a means to protect or to achieve his goals. For those curious, I see his Box Animal as being a murder of Storm Flame crows, at least four or five Box Animal Storm Crows that he uses in conjunction with each other, simply because he thinks only one would be lonely for the Box Animals.

But It wasn't my convenient memory. I was still in the real world, it seems, to my relief.

This is a description of the Dino's animal that came with Volume 25, Target 235. I apologize that it is very hard to see and that it is in Japanese.

It contains basic information about the Box. From top to bottom, they are "weapon or an animal", "which types of flame", and "whoes designed"

In "Attribute", "firmament" and "storm" are written together.

Phew, I guess this saved me for the moment :P

I remembered from this description that he uses a combination of them.

I don't remember how it was in the anime. And several have pointed out that he has sunny attributes(Thanks!!) I don't think there was any mention of such in the canon. It is very possible that I have forgotten or overlooked it, so could you tell me where I can find the information?

I haven't seen the KHR animation more than once... When I speak enthusiastically, I'm often speaking just the original world. And is it correct that "canon" means "original comic"? I'm not sure because I learned it yesterday:D

This is the Xanxus's animal description.

Take a look at the basic information in the upper right corner. It is same as Dino's one except that the designer is unknown. "Firmament" and "Storm" are listed alongside.

And when Dino fought Daisy, described the animal's performance as follow.

Everything that touches their wings is torn apart, harmonized, and reduced to ashes.

And when Xanxus fought Rasiel, his animal performance was described as follows

The firmament causes it to petrify in harmony with the stone castle, after which it is struck by the decomposition that is characteristic of storms.

I don't think canon talked about the attributes that Dino has. However, he partners animals that have the attributes of firmament and storm.

The details and the order are different, but their is very similar, don't you think? Dino may had known something about it, since he seemed to have been researching the firmament. (Incidentally, this was also mentioned in Dino's animal description.) Its characteristic is to torn apart first by wings and then by harmony to ashes. This means that in the "torn apart" stage, a reaction other than harmonic, means a storm reaction, is taking place.

Indeed, I may not be able to say strictly that he has a storm attribute by this. Firmament can open all attribute's.

However, even there are so many characters and attributes, two people with seemingly different have a similar fighting style with the exact same combination of attributes. This fact is my favorite.

I excessively love so much the fact: Dino and XANXUS uses exactly the same combination of flames (firmament & storm). And It's only them.

Welcome to the Pokemon Flame Au Guide! It's an au where the dying will flames from katekyo Hitman Reborn exist in the Pokemon World. Here's a quick and simple guide to the system without having to read/watch KHR.

Initial Notes

Dying Will Flames are sort of like a magical power people can have, except it only manifests as fire. Each flame has a different ability. In order to use them, with very rare exceptions, they must be channeled through special gems, usually in the form of rings, but sometimes worn as other jewelry. As the phrase 'dying will' suggests, the flames are representative of your desire to do womething with you 'dying will', or being willing to accomplish something even at the expense of your own life.

Sun Flames

Sun flames manifest as yellow flames that sparkle. Sun flames have the 'activation' ability, known to improve the efficiency of an activity. This usually makes them useful for stimulatin muscles/joints, strengthening yourself or others, and even healing, though abuse of that can lead to cellular death.

Sun flame users are usually like a beacon to the others in their group and a big support as well as very focused on their goals.

Lightning Flames

Lightning flames appear more like traditional electricity rather than fire, though they're green. Lightning flames have the 'harden' ability, which as the name implies is used to solidify things to resist damage. They can create a barrier or use to harden ability to cut, as well as electrocute like electricity.

Individuals with lightning flames are usually protective of their group and the one who will stand as the first line of defense, extremely loyal.

Rain Flames

Rain Flames have the appearance of light reflecting off blue water and is one of the less sporadic looking of the flames. Rain flames are known for their 'tranquility', which weakens things it touches as well as slow things down. They can also negate other flames, up to a point.

Individuals with rain flames are usually peace-keepers of their groups (or perhaps the mom friend, if you will) and value clean and tidy solutions and ends.

Mist Flames

Mist flames are indigo and, well, mist or smoke like in appearance. They have the 'construction' ability and are usually used to create illusions, usually fooling the senses of another while you attack. Only extremely skilled illusionists can have the illusions actually physically impact a person.

Mist flame users enjoy creation, but be careful, they often have their own motivations and keep secrets.

Cloud Flames

Cloud flames are purple flames look unstable and smoke like flickering sporadically much more than mist flames. Their ability is 'propagation', known for increasing the size of things or multiplying numbers. They're especially useful when dealing with large areas.

Cloud flame users are typically called the drifting or lone cloud, independent from the group and not bound. Often they're individuals who can stand on their own and are very confident in their strength.

Storm Flames

Storm flames are a red flame that has a central core with dark fire tendrils coming off of it. The storm's ability is 'disintegration' and is primarily offensive, being used to decay and break things apart. It can also minimize the effects of other flames, or even break through them.

Storm flame individuals are usually at the heart of the battle, never resting and often in motion.

Sky Flames

Sky flames look the most like normal fire with an orange color. They are the rarest of the flames, and thus not much is known about them or their 'harmony' characteristic, a balance of things. It has been known to absorb others flames, petrify things, and even freeze fother flames.

Individuals with sky flames are leaders and attrack the rest of the sky to them, forming bonds with others. Given time, a sky will often accumulate 'guardians', or individuals with other flames who will stand by their sky no matter what.

Additional Notes

While not all invididuals have flames, it's unclear if they just don't have the potential, or haven't unlocked them. Usually, very few are able to actively use flames, or have the means (the gemstones) to use them.

Those who known how to use flames can use them even if it's not with 'their dying will', but the strength is significantly less.

Rings are the most common way to draw upon dying will flames, as they are the easiest.

Flames can run in families.

It's possible for a person to have multiple flames, though usually they'll still favor one over the others.

In Pokemon World: Flames are seen as human's natural defense/offense against pokemon, and in Hisui they're highly revered. In modern times, few people find out they have them and/or utilize them, as they're simply not as needed, and people are not as often put into such life-or-death predicaments.

Feel free to ask my questions about the au if you have any ^-^ There are more details about the flames and how they work that I didn't put in here just to keep it simple.

Right, i’m in the mood to get the main section of the Extended Flames AU written, so lets go!

(This diverges from canon lore a lot. As in, i’m making a whole new set of Flames and weaving them into canon lore.)

So, if you’ve watched/read KHR up to the ring battles (or read any long fanfic) you should know the basics of Flames, right? Sky + Guardians, Harmony, Sets, all that. If you got up the Shimon Arc (or, again, read any long fanfic), you should at least know of Earth Flames.

So that’s two alignments for Flames- Sky and Earth.

Now, coming out of fandom for a second, and moving to the connotations of numbers. A lot of the time, two is a number that represents balance. However, in KHR, that number is three- the Tri-Ni-Sette is in three sets (Arcobaleno, Mare, Vongola), and was created to keep the world in balance.

Which is why the concept of there only being two alignments of Flames kinda throws me off a bit.

Then, i thought back to when Basil was introduced. The first time we properly see Basil, he’s in HDWM. His Flame is blue. Now, canaconically, Basil is a Rain. However, he is the only character who is not an Earth or Sky to have access to HDWM. This means one of two things- either Basil is an outlier, or he has access to something similar to the Harmony/Gravity characteristic of Sky/Earth Flames. 

Now, if Basil is an outlier, he’s an outlier. Point explored, headcanon over. But if you look at the second point, that can be explored. There are two explanations for Basil’s Flame. One- He’s a Serene Sky (A Rain with a Sky Secondary). Two- He isn’t Sky or Earth Aligned, and instead, he is the ‘Ruling Aspect’ of a third alignment. If you actually look at Basil’s Flame, it shows no Rain aspects apart from Tranquillity. It is too bright to be Rain, and it doesn’t share the Rainy pattern that both Squalo and Takeshi’s Flame does. Logically, it doesn’t make sense for Basil to be a Rain. But Basil’s Flame does share patterning with Sky and Earth.

Which is where i really started to obsess over this.

I had an idea, now i needed a name. I wanted to stick with the ‘kinda elemental, kinda nature’ theme KHR has going. Looking over traditional elements- Fire, Earth, Air, Water. (Fire is represented by the power as a whole- Flames. Earth is self-explanatory, Air is represented by Sky. So Water it was.) Similarly, KHR uses Sky and Earth- two things that are obviously commonly found in nature. I needed a water-oriented similar thing. We have Seas, and i considered using the Seven Seas as names, but no. I ended up with Ocean Flames. So, Basil has Ocean Flames.

And yes, i did build a whole set of seven Flame Types to go with Ocean Flames, and linked them with Sky and Earth counterparts;

Sky - Earth - Ocean

Storm - Swamp - Wave

Sun - Forest - Tide

Lightning - Mountain - River

Rain - Tundra - Glacier

Mist - Desert - Abyssal

Cloud - Jungle - Foam

I went to the KHR wiki page "The Activation characteristic of Sun Flames has the power to induce and improve the efficiency of any type of activity. It can increase the rate of blood flow and cell regeneration, making it optimal for support roles such as healing and strengthening individuals." So honestly it seems that sun flames would destroy the poison. Also even if Nana found out about flames unless she knew about the 7 it's likely she wouldn't have used enough poison to overpower his flames.

We’re gonna address this in one big message haha. So this is gonna get pretty long.

Probably not? I mean they have no reason to go looking for Reborn. *shrugs* Lal and Viper aside, the rest of them have no connection to Vongola directly. Checkerface (assuming he is aware of Reborn’s death) probably doesn’t care. As long as he gets the the Sun Pacifier back, he doesn’t really care if Reborn lives or dies. (Then you poke the logic hole on *how* exactly is Checkerface monitoring the Arcobaleno. I mean what’s stopping Verde from building a spaceship and yeeting off to space. If Verde yeets off to Mars, how are you gonna get the Lightning Pacifier back Checkerface?) Whether he picks a new batch or not is *shrugs* but honestly everything about how the Arcobaleno and pacifiers function is a big plot hole. But yes, boookqueenn is right. The switching between Luce > Aria > Yuni is more than enough proof that Checkerface could just pick a new Sun Arcobaleno and not even bother. 

Re: Sun Flames and Poison

This is what I meant when I said you sent me down the rabbit hole. HAHA (actually you sent the entire khr discord down this rabbit hole with me because we got into a big discussion) 

Because Sun Flames are activation, all it will probably do spread the poison faster through your body. Faster blood rate just means the poison spreads faster.

Poisons work by changing the speed of different body functions, increasing them (for example, increasing the heart rate or sweating), or decreasing them (sometimes to the point of stopping them entirely, like breathing). For example, people poisoned by parathion (an insecticide) may experience increased sweating. 

From Manifestations of Toxic Effects

I am by no means an expert and nor did I even attempt to clarify in the original AU post what poison Nana used. But it was 1) a lethal dosage if that wasn’t obvious 2) probably something that will spread widely through the body 3) not a common poison 4) Reborn was not expecting to be poisoned by a mild manner housewife who kindly served him coffee like a good hostess. 

If the poison works to increase bodily function, then Sun Flames are *useless* because Sun Flames can only activate. Slowing down is Rain Flames. So an increase heart rate means Reborn can’t stop it. If it decreasing them, then you gotta assume Reborn has the fine control to target that specific organ (like the lungs). And he would have to do this with medical know-how and precision, on top of the pain, mental confusion, dizziness, seizures, and/or headaches (all common symptoms of poison). Arguable whether he would have the focus for that kind of control. But... also lethal dosage so... *waves* doubtful if he could do it fast enough. 

Not to mention, no one is going to tell him *what* kind of poison they gave him.

One friend ( @honeynet ) helpfully pointed out “most of the treatments for poison are either use something to absorb it, use something to pump it out as fast as possible, or use something to wash it out as fast as possible, and Sun Flames don't function to do any of those things. poison antidotes wore on a chemical level and have man-made ways of blocking off receptors and neutralizing the poisons, which Sun Flames and the natural body isn't capable of.”

Another friend ( @darklytainted )  put it as “in theory his cell regeneration could save him because it means that as soon as the cells that were exposed to the poison died, new ones replaced them. He could activate his liver & other organs that metabolize & detoxify, but he couldn’t use his flames to destroy it, seeing as that’s not an attribute given to sun flames (could be argued for storm)“

Which well if he’s doing it that, all I see that as prolonging his suffering because he can’t remove the poison from his body. (and again, requires to have the precision, know-how and control to do that on top of whatever symptoms) 

He *could* turn his Sun Flames on high and basically use it as a laxative and flush it out of his system *that* way. 

Add in his baby body + whatever negative side effects from the pacifier, it’s highly doubtful that Reborn would survive being poisoned. If it was mild dosage? yeah. But Nana knew exactly what kind of threat Reborn was when he showed up and she went straight for lethal. And she doesn’t care about doing it quietly/cover up. She has people to disposal the body. 

On the off chance that Reborn *did* survive the poisoning, this is all moot because he’s still being held in stasis by de Sardet and there’s nothing stopping de Sardet, Tsuna, or Nana from just straight up cutting off Reborn’s head because they do not suffer threats to their family.

So Reborn dies, regardless.

Twisted Wonderland x Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Dorm Leaders' Dying Will Flames of the Sky (because, why not?) [Part 1]

I was going to write a headcanons how each dorm leaders have a specific power related to the seven elements of nature, but knowing me, I like to make things complicated, thus this was written.

To start off, did you know my Mafia AU was a part of inspired by Katekyo Hitman Reborn? I'm pretty sure some of you already know.

Now, in KHR, the mafia has a thing call Dying Will Flame, basically a colorful flame created by one's own life-force. While it can resonate with one's emotions, the Dying Will Flame is in many ways more alike to a real flame, possessing even its own destructive properties.

The most common DWF is the Dying Will Flames of the Sky, which are named after seven weather phenomena in the sky: the Sky itself, Storm, Rain, Sun, Lightning, Cloud, and Mist. But there are also special flames like Dying Will Flames of the Earth, Oath Flame, The Flame of Night, and The Flame of Wrath. But today, we'll focus on the Dying Will Flames of the Sky.

Now, I just want to give some of these Dying Will Flames of the Sky to our Night Raven College Dorm Leaders. However, I don't want to give them all the Sky Flame. Those who have the Sky Flame are usually the Mafia Boss, however, if we take it like this, then we don't have any variety. So, since we have seven Dying Will Flames of the Sky, and seven dorm leaders, let's give them one Flame for each shall we.

Sky Flame, characteristic: Harmony

Storm Flame, characteristic: Disintegration

Rain Flame, characteristic: Tranquility

Sun Flame, characteristic: Activation

Lightning Flame, characteristic: Hardening

Mist Flame, characteristic: Construction

Cloud Flame, characteristic: Propagation

I'll start from the easiest to hardest.

Cloud Flame - Propagation

"A drifting Cloud, who cannot be bound. Protecting the Famiglia from an independent standpoint."

Its characteristic, Propagation, carries the ability to increase and multiply. As such, it is suited for anything that involves an increase in size and multiplication of numbers. It is highly advantageous when performing techniques involving a large area, such as creating a cyclone or an impervious force field.

Leona is my immediate first pick for Storm Flame. Both he and Kyouya Hibari (the one who has the Storm Flame in KHR), not only has the same personality (and both of them calls the main character "herbivore"), King's Roar has the same characteristics of Storm Flame, which is a force-field like power. There will be much sand...

Rain Flame - Tranquility

"To square away conflict and wash away the blood spilled. The Requiem of Rain."

The Rain Flame Tranquility characteristic allows it to weaken anything it touches. It can be used to slow down the opponent's movements or attacks. It can also negate and cancel out other flames. One proficient in the usage of the Rain Flame can use its Tranquility characteristic to such a degree that anything entering a certain barrier will be completely immobilized, effectively breaking a machine or killing a human.

Reading this power, one Dorm Leader came into mind...

... Riddle Rosehearts!

Rain Flame just screams Off With Your Head. It has the same characteristics of canceling one's flame/magic. Funny enough, Riddle and Takeshi Yamamoto (the one who has the Rain Flame in KHR) has the opposite personality, with the strict Riddle and the easy-going Takeshi. Originally, I want to give Riddle the Storm or Lightning Flame, because it suits his personality more, but after reading about Rain Flame characteristics, I decided to give him that.

Sun Flame - Activation

"Destroying the misfortune that attacks the Famiglia with their own body, they become the Sun that brightly shines upon an area."

The Activation characteristic of Sun Flames has the power to induce and improve the efficiency of any type of activity. It can increase the rate of blood flow and cell regeneration, making it optimal for support roles such as healing and strengthening individuals. Sun Flames can also stimulate muscles and joints, increasing the user's body functions drastically. The Activation characteristic also makes it difficult to use Sun Flames in direct combat, as the user must spend his energy and Flames for healing in addition to attacking. Also, overusing the Activation characteristic can lead to cellular death.

I'm not quite sure about my choice, but I have to give this to...

... Vil Schoenheit!

The Sun Flame characteristic is probably the only one related to body and healing. And with Vil has a thing for beauty, Sun Flame might be perfect for him. He can use the Sun Flame to take care of his own body, making him stronger despite his soft body. Since we still don't know what's Vil's Unique Magic is, I can't be sure whether it'll be the same as Sun Flame or not.
